--- emi ryoko tachibana --- - content creator; hero in training - "Ohaiyo! If you're wandering what this is all about, well... This is my channel! I'm Emi, and for the past six, seven years, I've been vlogging. I know, sounds wild - since I was like, nine? Guess you could say it was my calling! Anyway! This used to be the home of my show, Ryokoko, all about my life, but things had to change. See, I've got a quirk. Not a scary or dangerous quirk, but it's still a quirk. Most people don't take too kindly to that, and a lot of my fans turned their backs on my once they found out. But I never let some flakes stop me! So I'm shifting gears! This is now Emi's Exclusives - the only vlog showing the lives of future pro heroes. I've enrolled at UA to find out what it takes to be a pro, and more importantly, to show all of you that people with quirks... are still people. Some good, some bad, some normal, but all human, just like you. Hopefully we're both going to learn a lot through this series, so don't miss out! Keep checking in, let me know what you think, tell your friends and don't forget to subscribe! Okay, I'll see you soon!"
OOC: Hey! This is my experimental side project for my character. Over time I'll be adding vlogs, using content from my threads as the basis. Think of it as a YouTube series - the bulk of the content is mine, but I encourage other players to interact with it! Post an in-character comment here, like the thread, mention the vlog in your threads, and if you have any feedback to give, let me know! You'll find me under 'Kyoukon' on the forum's Discord. The more people engage with the content, the more Emi (and I!) will be inspired to keep it coming.

--- emi's exclusives --- - episode zero: career guidance - The video opens to Emi, clearly holding a camera up to her face. If her smile is anything to go by, she’s absolutely ecstatic, and if there was any doubt, her voice quickly erases it.
“Hey guys and girls! I’ll be honest, this wasn’t the plan for my first exclusive but I can’t not share what just happened! I met up with my first pro, just a few hours ago! And of course, I had to catch a big one. So there I am, ready to get some food after a long day, and who else sneaks up on me but Red Horn?! And I’ll be honest, it’s pretty impressive that she got the jump on me. Have you seen her? Lady’s tall as the Skytree, and built like it too!”
“Buuut, I guess stealth is part of hero training, but luckily she wasn’t looking to rearrange my face. We sat down, we ate, we talked. It was… really nice, honestly. Like, can I be honest?” She takes a deep breath, and speaks again in a calmer voice. “This hero thing is a little nerve-wracking. I mean, when you think about it, UA is a school accepting volunteers to be super-soldiers. And I’m putting myself in there? Me? With this pretty face? Even I was starting to think ‘alright Emi, where are you going with this joke?’”
“But we ate ramen and talked things over, and… she put things in perspective. Sure, it’s a whole new world I’m jumping into, and I’ve got a lot to learn, but… that’s fine. Everybody’s got to start somewhere, right? It’s not about being able to do everything. The important thing is that I do the best I can do.”
“And let’s be honest, somebody like me could do a lot. But that’ll take time, and effort, and pain and struggle. But I feel ready for it now.” Her energy quickly returns. “That’s part of the reason I’m putting this out there – now that I’ve said this all on air, there’s no way I can back down and disappoint! And hey, maybe my little lesson is obvious to some of you, but damnit, this is my vlog and I’m learning, and if you don’t like it, you can just leave a polite comment below explaining yourself.” She winks.
“Anyway, I expected a pro like her to be all about punching people into next Sunday, but I didn’t she’d be inspirational too! Don’t tell her I said that, unless it’s you watching right now, in which case…” She looks off-screen, and the video cuts to her cheery grin, as if nothing was wrong.
“Now, I know what you guys are thinking. ‘Emi, your hair is looking luscious today, but how do we know you’re telling the truth? To which I say: thanks, I take good care of it! But… I might have messed up, and in my excitement I kinda-sorta forgot to get any proof that this happened. Well, I didn’t, but in the moment it was weird to ask for a picture. I mean, sure, Red Horn’s not exactly keeping a secret identity with… You know… But you don’t just go around asking ladies for proof anyway! But I’ll compromise. Simple solution. Lady Akai can drop a like or a comment to show that she approves! And if she doesn’t, then I’m just full of it! So, er… Don’t let me down on this one, please.”
“So Red Horn is super cool now! Spread the word, and if you see her, tell her Emi said hi! That’s all for now – I just really wanted to get that out there. Tomorrow, I start at Yūei! If you’re at the school and you see this, don’t be shy! I’m always happy to share some camera love. And as for the rest of you: share, like, comment and subscribe! There’s more coming, and you’re not going to find out about a hero student’s life anywhere else! So, until next time, stay super!”

Mia, despite being a camera whore when one was on her, didn't actually have too grand a social media presence. She preferred to get out and do things rather than commenting on shit on facebook, but, with this whole celebrity thing, she'd been viable to get an official twitter account, so she thought, why not? It was neat having fanclubs subscribe to her, able to tell them to watch the news that night to see if he latest crime stopping made the news itself. She even sometimes got tweets about potential crimes in progress, though she was considering seeing if there was a way to hire someone to filter out the real leads and the ones who were just peeps wanting her to come to their neighborhood.
What she didn't expect was a few skeptical sounding tweets linking her a video. All of them asking stuff like 'is this true' and such, she watched it through, recognizing the cute UA student from a few days back and admiring her as she worked the camera. Not in a creepy way mind, kinda just like a friend who admired another friends cool work.
When it came to asking her to comment, she snickered a little, pulling up the comments, hitting the like button, subscribing (actually bookmarking this OOC) and typing up a comment.
"Oh yeah she totally met me. Girl looked so out of place at a noodle stand I'm pretty sure she'd never seen one before in her life!~ Still! Nice Video! Don't think you're gonna get away with that bit about not expectin' me to be inspirational. I'm inspirational as shit!"
She typed the comment again, once in japanese, once in english should any of her fans from america see it, and then, realizing there was no way to confirm this was her, the actual heroine, given her youtube account had no videos. So, to make sure it was proven, and to give the girl some appreciation, she posted up a link to the video on her own twitter.
'Check out this little up and comer. Go show her some love.'
That should be plenty proof.

--- emi's exclusives --- - episode one: sinking faith - The video opens to the host, giving the camera a stern glare. She holds it for a few seconds before beginning. “Well. This wasn’t how I expected to kick off a vlog series, but the hero life is always full of surprises! Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few weeks, you’ve probably heard what’s going on at Semper Fi. The military’s been researching how to fit people with quirks into their operations, and they’ve put some of the results online. Apparently, this was a big thing over at Yūei, and they volunteered a bunch of their students to take part. This here is a recording of a rescue simulation for them.”
The video cuts to a multi-camera night vision setup, similar to a security feed. Together, they observed six sparsely-dressed students. At least, none of them looked like adults. They were on the move, attempting to find each other on a rapidly sinking ship. Emi provided an explanation over the participants calling for each other. “This is all just a practice exercise. Looks and feels dangerous, but I’m assuming there were people on standby to pull anybody out if things got really bad. Not that these guys needed it. Look at them go!” One camera expanded to fill the screen, showing a tall blonde sprinting through the hallways. While the night vision made it easy for the viewers to see, one could safely assume that the ‘heroes’ had trouble seeing where they were going. All but one of them, anyway – while the rest stumbled and shouted to find each other, the girl almost seemed to have a sixth sense leading her to her goal. She crossed paths with another girl along the way, and the two rushed towards their goal.
“I did some noseying into Yūei’s student roster so I could put faces to names. That’s Kusanagi Kanna of Class 1-A, who must have eyes like a hawk to move through that, until…” A gate slammed shut to block the girls off. “That’s a bit weird, isn’t it? This is meant to be a sinking ship exercise. Why would gates be blocking off when the ship is already going down? I guess it could be to try and slow the water, but it would be a bit too late for that, and it’s stopping the survivors from getting out.”
Meanwhile, her peers were still getting their bearings. The video changed to show different parts of the ship in quick succession. A white-haired girl feeling up the wall, a purple-haired one trying to shout her way to her comrades. Two boys partially deciphering the directions, not knowing that the locked door had made them useless. “Tall and Taller over there are Takahashi Kaling and Takeuchi Masaki. Both 1-B, showing off their problem solving skills. They were on the right track, too! Obviously, in my room with a computer and all the time in the world, I can easily crack Morse Code, but these guys made a good effort with no time, no help, and at least a little bit of panic.”
By the time the focus was on the girls again, one of them had stepped forward to try and get through the door. A hand on the door was enough for her to blast through it, making a crawl space for the pair. “Not that these girls are letting some dumb metal door stop them. Miss Explosions-For-Hands there is Sakamoto Rowan – also 1-A. No idea what her quirk is, but she’s got enough power to make an opening through thick metal, but enough control to keep the range small. Pretty impressive, right?” Kanna seemed to agree, if her smirk was anything to go by.
The video switched to showing multiple cameras as the students began to meet up. Some showed the students at work, while others showed more of the doors being slammed shut, one right in front of Rowan. Shortly after, the focus was on the white-haired one, who was shouting hints to the rest of the would-be rescuers. She’d cracked the Morse Code, not with knowledge, but with critical thinking. “That silver vixen is Bijan Lani, 1-B. I don’t think we’ve seen any of that class’ quirks in action here, but they’re doing really well just by listening to each other. They managed to build on the information each of them learned to succeed! …Or, you know, they would have succeeded, if the military didn’t keep blocking the way!”
Multiple cameras showed the team attempting to regroup, but just as the girls were about to meet up, the video abruptly cut to black. Two seconds later, Emi’s face took the stage, and she didn’t look pleased. “That’s it. The stream just stopped there. I have no idea why. There haven’t been any reports about Yūei students dying, so it’s not like they were trying to cover up a student dying or anything. I don’t know how the mission ended, but I want to find out. Besides that, though, notice the length of that video? A few minutes, at best. Now, I’d skipped the lady giving instructions so we could get to the action, but she told the rescuers they had a whole ten minutes before the floor they were on went under. At the speed the water was going up in the video? There’s no way they had ten minutes.”
“So the military lied to the rescuers. No big deal, right? Things go wrong all the time in rescue missions, so the rescuers were just teaching them a lesson about real life. That’s what I told myself at first, but then-“ A series of cuts replayed the doors being shut, several of them blocking the students’ (and villain’s) progress. “I checked this out again. See, those Morse Code instructions? They were supposed to lead to the lower levels, where the heroes needed to go. And they would have, if the doors didn’t start blocking the path. That’s the part that really confused me. Why would the mission involve instructions to go somewhere, only for the instructors to block the way anyway? Wouldn’t that just make the instructions useless?” Her expression darkened. “Or maybe… the guys in charge really didn’t want the people taking part to get to the second level. That would explain the wrong time and the doors, right? The military put a bunch of half-trained teenagers in a military-grade rescue simulation, and when it started looking like they might actually beat it, they tried making it impossible for them! What the hell is up with that?!”
She paused to regain herself, though it was only a partially successful effort. Her face showed irritation, but her tone was just as passionate as ever. “I really think that’s it. The military wanted these guys to fail, and realised they couldn’t do that without sabotaging the whole thing. That’s why the video cut off – they knew they’d have a shitstorm on their hands if they video’d themselves straight up trapping a bunch of students for the hell of it. The only thing I don’t understand is… why? What do they get out of this? Scaring or hurting a bunch of schoolkids? Nah. There’s more to this story, and it doesn’t look like the guys at Semper Fi want to tell. That’s why we need to demand answers. They think if they stay quiet this’ll all blow over, but that’s not happening if we have anything to say about it! Make sure your friends see this video, or at least the stream! I’ll put a link to the full video in the description, even if all the important stuff is here. Don’t let Semper Fi get away with this… whatever the hell this is! And support these poor students, working against the odds! They volunteered to help the military, and look how they were treated in return! You’re not going to let them get away with bullying the next generation, are you?”
She leaned back in her chair, letting out a heavy sigh. “Whatever this is, it’s a mess. But at least one good thing came out of it. These students… are pretty good at their job already, and Yūei hasn’t even been open for long. They managed to stay calm and smart the whole time, and worked together to do their job. It makes me a little excited, knowing that I’m about to join them. Here’s hoping Yūei’s finest keep shining. Until next time, stay super!”

--- emi's exclusives --- - episode two: chimera's story - A black screen with white text. I’ve been investigating to get the full story on the Semper Fi disaster. My journey has led me to one of its victims.
Said victim fades into view, his appearance making him instantly recognisable to those he had met. A hodpodge of animals forced into a human body, Chimera looked much worse for wear than usual. Never mind his poorly-brushed fur and the pained look in his eyes - the setting (a hospital bed in what some might know at Yuei’s infirmary) made it painfully obvious that he had suffered some injuries from the military. The boy stared at the camera; with an anxious tone, he brought himself to speak. “...I’m Chimera. I’m...I'm fifteen years old, and I-I am a first year at U.A. The hero school. A-As I think everyone can see I’m...I have a very obvious mutation Quirk. It gives me fur and horns and...well, you can’t see them right now, but rabbit feet. I’ve always looked like this, since I was born, and..." He paused, and his eyes strayed from the camera. "And it wasn’t a very easy life. I grew up in the foster care system, I went from home to home, and a lot of people saw me...like a monster. Like I was inhuman.” “Five years ago, I was finally adopted by a family. One of my parents is mundane, and the other also has a mutation Quirk. I-In fact all of my siblings do. We’re all foster kids. All of us...are different. We're all mutations in one way or another, and we'd all been through that kind of...life. That’s why I chose to come to U.A, and to try to become a hero. Because I am sure there are other people like me, or like my siblings or my mother, who are treated like monsters or worse because of how we look. It...doesn’t make us any less than everyone else just because we have fur, or antenna, or bear hands...uh, spelled b-e-a-r...we're still people. Still kids, in my case.” “We’re still people. And. And when I was at Semper Fi, with all of my friends who are also different--even if not as...obvious, as I am--we were...we...” The boy’s hands were shaking, either from the nerves of speaking to the camera or the dread that came with his memories. He paused, and text faded in at the bottom of the screen. “...A soldier tried to subdue a Yuuei student, known as Chimera, who possessed goat-like features.” – Japan’s Security of Defense. The boy continued. “There was an explosion somewhere. Close to where I was with my roommate. I ran in its direction to see if I could help. I asked them, right away, what was wrong. What can I do. I. I wanted to make sure nobody was hurt. But as soon as they saw me, this soldier...he reached out for me, like he was trying to grab me by the throat. I. I ran away, and...and...he started shooting at me. He--He only missed because...another soldier stopped him, tried to pull the gun away, and I turned around and I s-saw..the man who had attacked me...shot the one who saved me....right in the head.” “...I found my friends again. They. They had found a little girl--a little kid, like, not even a middle-schooler--whose leg had been broken by this...this mob of panicking, confused people. There was shooting going on, and tanks moving out. Students were getting arrested. No. No, no, it wasn’t just.....it was people with Quirks--any Quirk--being arrested. Being...shot at. Or. Just shot. But it wasn’t the whole camp. Soldiers tried to help us, too, who knew this was just...wrong. The girl’s father was a soldier and he helped us get to cover behind a tank. But the people attacking us...they had one, too, and they took our the...wheels? Treads? I don’t...” “We. We had to do something, or...or we would be shot. Two of us went to defend against the soldiers attacking us. Myself and my roommates stayed behind, using our Quirks to fix the tank, and to... we... he added cots to the side, and a shield around it. When the gunshots died down we started grabbing people. Anyone. Whoever was hurt, students or civilians or, hell, soldiers we didn’t know were for or against us. We. We couldn’t leave them. They could have died from their injuries. We didn’t know when help would get to them. So we...we did what we could.” “I don’t remember escaping. I took a blow to the head, and when I came to, I was in the hospital. My friends...we were alive. But. We were hurt. My roommate’s deaf now. Can’t hear anything. He...he might recover, but it’s not certain. One of my friends who had protected us...he was shot in the shoulder, in the chest, been concussed...he...he’s still in really, really bad shape. I was shot four times in the chest. I...I have two broken ribs, and...the bruises on my chest. Just. If I hadn’t had a bullet-proof vest on, I...I wouldn’t have...” Chimera found his confidence, staring straight at the camera – and therefore, the viewers. “I don’t know what the media is saying about this. I. I can’t look at it, right now. Even talking about it. Even....thinking....I...I almost wish I wasn't here. My friends and I did nothing wrong. None of the students did. We went to Semper Fi to learn from the military. Fuck--we wanted to. We want to be heroes! Isn’t that what soldiers are, and always have been? But what happened there...that...they weren’t shooting at criminals trying to harm their people. They weren’t being heroes. They...they weren't shooting at monsters. They were shooting at kids. We’re kids!! We're only fucking kids!!” “Pretend I didn’t have a Quirk--pretend none of us did, if you have to. I’m fifteen! I have parents and sisters and a brother barely a year old, and I have friends, I play sports. I love bad music, I am a person! And those soldiers wanted to kill me! Wanted to kill everyone just like me! And we’re just kids! What...who in their right mind would think that this was...okay?! Does anybody know who even gave the command for them to attack us? Soldiers, trained fucking soldiers, shooting to kill a bunch of teenagers on a field trip...?” He was tearing up. “We...we’re just as human as anyone else...” He brought his hands – paws – to his face, making a rather poor attempt to hide his crying. “.....and we still...I still want...to be a hero, and protect people, and do good. Not just to show other mutations like me that it’s...that it’s okay...but...but because I want to. I want to do good. That’s...I can’t...think of a person in this school who doesn’t want that...” His voice warbled. It may have been for the best that the film rapidly faded to black, leaving only his final words. "...who...doesn't still want it..." Two seconds of silence, and then more text. Quiet sobbing can be heard. The Japan Self-Defence Forces and the Japanese government have not given an official statement on Semper Fi.Half of the text faded out, only to be replaced with another message. “The Japan Self-Defence Forces and the Japanese government have explained why Japan’s bravest students were almost murdered.” And again.
“The Japan Self-Defence Forces and the Japanese government have not apologised to Yūei Kōkō’s students for the hell they were put through.” New text appeared beneath it. A list of phone numbers, emails and social media handles associated with the government and the JSDF. With them, the hashtag #SemperFi. No call to action was given, but perhaps none was necessary. If the viewer felt anything from what they had seen, they knew what to do. OOC: This post was almost entirely written by Chimera for this thread and I couldn't do his excellent post justice, so check it out!

--- emi's exclusives --- - episode three: it's not all sunshine and rainbows- The video opens to a sight more familiar to the vlog’s viewers – Emi in her living room, sitting on her couch.
“That last video wasn’t what you expected, right? I hope not. I said before that this wasn’t what I had in mind when I started this series. I meant it. I wanted to make a vlog all about becoming a pro hero. How thrilling and exciting and rewarding it would be. I still think I want to do that, but this Semper Fi stuff made me realise… That would be wrong. It’d be sugar-coating it, even. Having a quirk can be pretty rough. And I know, that sounds stupid to most of you watching. Having a superpower must be awesome, right? Don’t get me wrong, it can be. But I guarantee you that every person you know with a quirk can count at least five times they’ve been treated differently because of it. Bullied. Attacked. Insulted. You’d think being picked on for being different would stop in school, but…” The girl shrugged. “My channel’s just one example of it. Look how many people jumped ship when they found out I had a quirk. They didn’t go quietly or politely either. And mine is harmless. It doesn’t even show. Apparently that didn’t matter to those people. And I got off lightly, compared to what mutants go through daily.”
“…Anyway, this isn’t just about me. It’s about the students, and that means more than just the fun parts. Sometimes it gets ugly. If that makes you uncomfortable, start doing something to fix it. That’s what I’m going to be doing, and I’ll be counting on the other Yūei students to help with that. Side note to them: I couldn’t help but notice that a few people had a big problem with being put in front of a camera. How many pro heroes that hide their face? Whose names aren’t publicly known? That aren’t already known by journalists all over the country, barely a year after Pro Heroes became legal? You better get used to the attention, and the sooner the better.”
“With that in mind… I’ve got to say thanks to Chimera. The video was my idea, obviously, but it takes a lot of balls to do what he did, especially since he was still in hospital. That guy’s real hero material, and it looks like he’s not the only one. All the students at Yūei could some support right now. Even when they’re blatantly getting attacked by the military for existing while quirked, there are still outlets trying to slander them. I’m not going to name them because I don’t want to give them any more attention, but trust me, they exist. And they’re wrong for it.”
“I’ve said what I wanted to say, more or less. I’ve got some more… upbeat vlogs planned soon, but hopefully that was eye-opening for at least a few of you. To the guys that treat us worse for being different, and to the quirkers out there who think they’re suffering alone.”
“I’ll be back soon. Stay super.”

--- emi's exclusives --- - episode four: ua unites against the gifted underground- The channel’s host faded into view – and she did not look pleased. Few had to ask why: The video had been uploaded the morning after the hijack of Tokyo5, which was unlikely to leave anybody’s head in a hurry. “I’m livid.” Emi didn’t quite look it, but none could say that she didn’t look very frustrated. It was a jarring shift from a girl who went out of her way to show a smile, and at worst, filmed herself being mildly annoyed. “Some insane whackjob racists are committing horrible crimes, and they’re so cowardly that they can’t even show their face while they do it. I don’t think I’ll ever run out of words to describe how much I hate what I’ve seen…” She paused, holding a long blink. In what would be a recurring theme for the video, they held a burning passion, complimenting the words she spoke without fear or hesitation. “And I know I’m not the only one. So I reached out to my fellow students, and asked them for a few words. As much as we’d all love to go out and fight these villains ourselves, we all know that won’t make anything better. That’s not our job, not yet. But we’re still heroes-in-training, and that means we can’t sit and do nothing. We’ll fight them, but not with our fists or our quirks. I hope that together, our words can touch the hearts of Japan.” The edges of the screen wipe away, changing the aspect ratio from the standard 16:9 to an almost-square 4:3. What followed next was a series of videos. From the varying video quality, mild shakiness and changing backgrounds, the viewer could safely assume that each was from a different student’s phone, taken without much care for the vlogger’s usual standards. To her credit, she spent a great deal of time stabilizing each video and normalising the audio to avoid distracting from the message. A music track, on top of her editing, did a great job of hiding the background noise.
First came a familiar face. Blue Agate - Pro Hero, UA Teacher: “Do not listen to those Villains Japan. Those hooligans do not speak for me nor my class nor the staff of this establishment. I know I may not be as famous as Darkshine, so my words probably will not reach you. That is alright, because the message should not be sent by me, a professional. But by the heroes of tomorrow, the students of UA.” A new scene fades in. A pair of students share the screen, close enough to each other to be a couple. “Hello, my name is Shimizu Haruto.” The video cuts to a few seconds ahead. “My name is Ishihara Chise.” Text labelled them as the Vice President and President of the Support Studies Class, respectively. Then came the other leaders: 1-A Class President. “My name is Kurama Rin-“ 1-C Vice President. “Alexander Deraine-“ More students followed, each accompanied by their name and class on-screen. Some were foreign, and most had some distinguishing feature (mostly their strange hair colours), but all of them looked normal. Unmistakably human. “Ay! This is Lani of Yuuei.” “Yamada Saito.” “Tetsuko Shindou.” “I'm Sean. Sean Mizushima-“ “Rimma Savvaeva Yemelin.” Compared to what came next, even then seemed mundane. Another student, but this one made no attempt to hide who he was. The only thing paler than his skin was his hair, and his eyes were a both contrast to both – crimson, resting in a dark abyss. “My name is Naoru Kehai.” “I have decided to make this recording upon the request of a dear schoolmate... And in answer to the broadcasting that I am sure many people have seen already.” He took a deep breath. “My name... might be familiar to a few people who have seen news of what happened at Semper Fi.” The scene changed. Alex: “Unlike the masked clown over there at the news station right now I was actually at the Semper Fi military camp.” Tetsuko Shindou: “Many of us... Suffered injustices at Semper Fi. Many of us have suffered discrimination beforehand, and will continue to.” Chise: “The man in charge of our challenge, Takeshi Kazuhira- He was not right in the head...and neither are the ones who took action at Tokyo5 tonight.” Rin: “To me, they are nothing more than terrorists, using the Semper Fi tragedy to further divide Japan's population.” Haruto: “The Semper Fi event was a tragedy-“ Saito: “-but I know it doesn’t justify whatever bullshit he’s trying to stir up.” Relena Tsuruya: “Misguided hate...that's what this is. A misguided attack led by those who are only fuelled by hatred and malice.”” Robin Engell (Looking away from the camera): “-When you reject with hate, you create an other, a force outside, and you start to see resentment, and division, and envy and you get people on each artificial, arbitrary side committing atrocities in the name of justice-“ Emi: “Which hurts everybody and solves nothing. So us, students of UA, denounce them.” Tetsuko: “ None of us accept these terrorists' so-called justice. We reject their claims of retribution, for they are lawless and unjust. They dared to put themselves forward as though they are fighting for us, but we reject this without question.” Lani: “They are just another group that thinks they can do whatever they want and hurt other people. But here at this academy, we are heroes.” Sean: “The difference between us students at Yuuei and those terrorists, is that unlike them, we actually have the best interest of the people at heart.” Rin Kurama: “Here at Yuuei, we, the students, are trained and taught that anyone innocent deserves protection from injustice. We make no difference between quirk wielders and non-quirkers.” Naoru: “We are here for quirkers and non-quirkers alike.” Miku Hanabina: ““We will always protect you and stand beside you.” Kirk Bluster (who, despite having his voice noticeably softened, passionately yelled into the camera): “I HAVE NO REASON TO HATE THE QUIRKLESS!" “It would be like hating someone for not playing sports! ...No, like hating someone for lacking an arm! UGH! THERE IS JUST NO POINT TO IT!” Miku: “We are all humans, nothing more and nothing less.” Robin: “The only difference between me and you is – is -” He stuttered, “I can heat up a Hot Pocket without a microwave – that’s it, right? I can make my skin really hot.” Rin: “There is no us and them. All quirk wielders were, at one point, from quirkless families. We are all humans, we are all family. Families stand together in times of crisis.” Naoru: “The whole school is in an uproar, because we know that this person... this group is wrong. I am sure we are not the only ones feeling this way. Quirkers out there, I ask you all to realize that there are other ways to reach peace. Those without quirks, I ask you all to see that we are not the enemy.” Rimma: “Do not let the words and actions of self-righteous madmen drive you to becoming criminals yourselves.” Sean: “They're terrorists, criminals, and villains, and nothing more! Don't listen to any of their nonsense, not even for a second!” Alex: “Insane people will rally behind anything to justify the awful things that they do. The Nazis thought that the Germans were the next evolution of humanity, too, and spouted a lot of the same nonsense that the sock head at Tokyo Five is spewing right now. Back then, that didn’t mean that all Germans were bad forever.” Rimma: “What has happened with Tokyo5, and happened time and again throughout history, is not a matter of those with Quirks against those without them. It is criminals, using whatever justifications they can cling to, breaking the law and committing horrible acts at the expense of others. These criminals, male or female, young or old, Quirk or Quirkless, are the people we should be focused on.” Haruto: “Please, I beg of you who are watching this video. Do not continue this vicious circle. Do not blame the many for the actions of the few. Let the culprits be punished by the law, by the Heroes- Lest we fall into the trap of slaying the innocent, as retribution for the actions of those who are not.” Robin: “There are shitty humans with guns, and shitty humans with quirks. And the rest of us can come together and fight them both.” Tetsuko: “We reject the idea that cowards in masks, speaking in voices not their own, could dare to claim they are representatives of a subset of us. That they stand for anything we stand for.” Rin: “Thus, my message to these terrorists is a simple one. You will not divide us.” Relena: “We are the future and we will not be dragged through the mud by these cowards and murderers.” Saito: “No matter how many this dickhead hurts, no matter what he says and what he demands, all y’all gotta remember one super important thing, ‘kay? He. Does not. Speak for us. Ya got that?” Rin: “These individuals who raided a broadcast station and put a horrifying scene on display do not speak for me-“ Miku: “Those villains do not speak for us-“ Sean: “They may have quirks, but they do NOT speak for everyone with a quirk.” Alex: “This terrorist doesn’t speak for me, and he doesn’t speak for quirkers.” The screen splits 5 ways, showing an equal number of students. Narou, Robin, a previously unseen girl with brown hair and green eyes, Relena and Emi speak in unison: “He does not speak for us.”The video abruptly cuts to black, and for a second it appears that it is over. Then Tetsuko’s face fades in. “I don't want to end this with a focus on them, so instead, I want to give my sincerest respect to the Pro Heroes and police who will stop these terrorists.” Sean: “Both of them help keep the peace and keep criminals like those idiots sending that broadcast at bay. Seriously, thank you! We at Yuuei may be training to become the bright heroes of tomorrow, but all of you wonderful police officers and pro heroes are already being bright today!” Tetsuko: “Godspeed, and give them hell.” Alex: “While I can’t go out there and try and save the day like a Pro, I can do my part to help as a citizen and as a human being. I’ve posted the link of a fundraiser for the victims of this attack down below, and I encourage everyone to share the hell out of this to get more people’s attention. We can all do a little bit to help the recovery after tragedies like this even as we all wait for the Pros and the police to do their job and get those sick bastards.” Naoru: “Thank you for listening.” Miku: “-Everyone stay safe and have a merry Christmas.” One final fade to black. Only text accompanies the music. A hashtag – #UniteAgainstGiftedUnderground, and a link to the aforementioned fundraiser.

--- emi's exclusives --- - episode five: super student activists - “Quick follow-up from that last video. Thanks again to all the students at UA willing to do what those villains couldn’t – show the world who they are. It takes a lot of guys, so make sure all of you watching show them some love too!” Emi held up a heart made from her hands, and a cheery grin to match. It doesn’t take long for both to disappear, and when she speaks again, she sounds much more serious. “To be honest, I was really surprised. I only asked them to introduce themselves and give a sentence, but they were all so passionate, with so much to say. Really important stuff, too – their stories, their feelings. It’s not often that you get students in a minority to willing to speak out, and I don’t want all of that to go to waste. That’s why this video is the first in a playlist. I want you all to see what the students of UA have to say, and I know they do too. So watch, remember their words, and share them. Until next time, stay super.” As promised, extended versions of the students’ speeches are set to follow after the video. Emi gave each of them a similar clean-up treatment to the video before, namely normalizing the audio and stabilising the video. She also took the liberty of cutting out certain students’ struggles with the camera, or inability to tell when the recording had started. Like the main video, each ends with the hashtag #UniteAgainstGiftedUnderground, and a link to Alexander’s fundraiser for survivors of the Tokyo5 attack. In order, the videos: Junko, Alex, Naoru, Miku, Rin, Lani, Tetsuko, Kirk, Sean, (Male) Robin, Rimma, Relena, Haruto and Chise.

--- emi's exclusives --- - episode nine: spotlight: the angel of mercy - The video fades in to show a second-year student. If her short pink hair, adorned by a pair of brown fringes wasn’t enough of a giveaway, then the wings on her back could do the trick. With a wingspan much larger than her own body, covered in roseate feathers, the name Angel almost seemed a bit too on the nose. Judging by the bright lighting and lack of shadows, the director had chosen to play on it anyway. The girl wore a mix between the school’s tracksuit bottoms and a black tank top. Curiously, she was holding a parasol, despite them obviously being indoors.
"Hello guys, gals and non-binary pals! My name is Angelica Sarami or just Angel for short! I'm 15 years old and am in class 1-A here at U.A high.” Eager emerald eyes stared at the camera, making it all the more difficult to miss her hearing aids – almost as big as the eyes and completely covering her ears. “My large fluffy pink wings not only allow me to fly and fight bad guys in the air, but I am also able to harden my feathers and them launch them at my foes for long range attacks!” The video cuts to a shot of the girl, wings fully outstretched, soaring through the sky. Or, as a keen eye might notice, the green screen with some careful editing. As it fades back to the original scene, she continues.
“The world has become a much more scary place. People seem to be getting mad at each other just because someone may look or sound different or may have a quirk while someone else doesn't.”
“I'm here to tell all you lovely listeners at home that no matter how you are feelings or how you were born that you are beautiful and that the Angel of Mercy will be watching over you and I promise that I will do my absolute best to bring peace, love and tolerance to this wonderful world of ours."
A (hopefully) more familiar voice cuts in – that of the self-proclaimed number one reporter. “Alright, I hear what you’re saying. Makes sense to me, but why should the people sitting at home care?“ The question seemed to ignite a passion in Angel, her face and voice shifting from joy to fierce confidence. She placed a hand on her chest, or rather, the broken chain attached to the collar on her neck.
"The quirkless people at home should care because them doing so could make them more of a hero then someone with the physical power to move a mountain! Right now humanity is caught in a cycle of fear, hatred and violence that only the actions of the kind can break. As a child, my mother and I were the victims of a horrible man who I am ashamed to say is my father. He used to beat my mother and put the collar and chain around my neck that you see before you.
You ask me why they should care? I will tell you why and I hope that the one reason is enough. That reason is because next time instead of some winged deaf stranger being abused it could be their quirkless little son, daughter, niece, nephew or grandchild. They should care because their kindness could make them that child or adult's hero that they look up to more, than the pro heroes that currently walk our streets.”
"I'm glad you asked what I plan on doing about the problems of not only our endangered youth both quirk having and quirkless both the youth who unintentionally bring harm to those around them because they don't know how to control or use their quirks during everyday civilian life. As of today I Angelica Surami am announcing my plan to use the money I make as a pro hero once I graduate to fund a series of youth centres and shelters that not only will focus helping our next generation away from the harmful environments they find themselves in, but also on learning how to refine and nurture their quirks or skills they need to thrive in normal everyday life all in an environment that promotes bonding, togetherness and cooperation between those with quirks and those without."
"The name of this brand-new organization shall be called The Oasis! It will be completely run by volunteers to further bridge the gap of separation between the quirkers and the quirkless. Super powers or not we are all must share this world and what better way to start then to give the next generation a place where they can get ready to help shape it?"
A pause lets Angel’s declaration sink in before Emi chimes in again. “Alright, Angel-chan, I think that’s all we have time for. Thanks again for your introduction! Any last words?”
The eager smile returned. “The first is even if you don't have a quirk you can be someone's personal hero just by being their for them and striving to do what's right and true! The second is that no matter how dark the world may seem to get the Angel of Mercy will always be watching over you ready to shine a little light and keep you safe! I hope you all enjoy the sports festival and I'll see you next time!"
The video ends on an elegant pose of the girl. Legs crossed, wings outstretched, and her parasol activated to reveal the rapier hidden within. Graceful, but far from vulnerable – a stance befitting of such a girl.

For long-time viewers, the backdrop is all too familiar; for newcomers, they can easily piece together that this is the spare room of a fairly well-off streamer. Anime and animal plushies sit atop furniture lined by LED, though it hardly glowed enough to steal attention from her. Few things did.[break][break]
The video cuts to her sitting relatively casually, sans the pipe. “Been a while. Been. A. While. Fortunately for you, my break’s over, and I’ve got a lot in store for you guys. I’ve got, what, half a year before I switch to being a full-time hero, and there’s a lot that needs to be said before then. Some of it’s gonna hurt somebody, and a lot of it you’ll probably be shocked to hear, but I’m not here to beat around the bush! Nah, my job’s to be a hero in my own little way, and part of that means being bold and loud.”[break][break]
“So! Look forward to exclusive sneak peeks as the life of a hero student, and hot takes on the going-ons in the world of pros and villains alike. It’s a big job, and probably not one that I can do alone, so if you think you’ve got something worth saying, get in touch.”[break][break]
“What else, what else… Oh! I never stopped streaming while I was away from this channel, and you can still catch me taking request for games! Link and schedule’s in the description. Next month’s gonna be my last Spooktober, and considering that the last one ended with me breaking a 35k yen VR set…” She shrugged, eyes closed, as it the money were a drop in the bucket. “Yeah, it’ll probably be funny. Alright, see you all later, and don’t forget to stay super!”

No prizes for guessing where Emi is - in her gamer's chair, sitting in her regular recording room. “I had a funny talk with some students a while back. Somehow my training regime came up, and they started grilling me for not knowing how much I can lift. The gist of it was that this new guy thought it was crazy that I was in my last year of hero school and didn’t focus on weight training. We had to explain to him that at UA, you kinda have to accept early on that you can’t be a jack of all trades. Some people’s quirks are better suited for rescuing than repairing, or maybe you prefer supporting in a fight over front-lining. Or in my case, maybe you realised your quirk is going to be better at lifting than you ever will be.”[break][break]
“Point is, between the combat training, rescue operations, theory exams, media work, and, you know, regular school life… There’s a lot to juggle. UA is no easy trip, and neither is being a hero. You gotta figure out what you want to prioritize and stick to it, and I’ve realised that’s not a half bad way to think about life either. Sometimes you can’t be good at everything, and that’s okay.” A small smile punctuates her words. “Even if sometimes that stings a little.” It halves in size, and hangs for a second too long.[break][break]
“…So maybe it’s something I’m still coming to grips to in day-to-day life, but at least as a hero, it’s only done good things for me. Better to be excellent at a few things than just okay at all of them, right? And for the record-” She raises an arm to flex her muscles. Even if she hadn’t been wearing loose clothes, there wouldn’t be much to see. “I can lift enough, and that’s the most important thing. Stay super!”

Really interesting people that I think you should get to know… So that’s what we’re doing today! I reached out to my fellow students and told me them to send in a video, answering a question pretty near and dear to all our hearts: When did you first realise that you want to be a hero?”[break][break] “None of us are busting our behinds for no good reason – the students at UA, and the heroes paving the way for them – you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more passionate bunch. They can tell you that way better than I can, so instead of trying to smush all of their answers together, I’m making a playlist, so you can see what they have to say, ninety-five-percent unedited. Click on their faces as they come up on the right to jump straight to their video.”[break][break] “First onto the scene to answer my call, or to save the day, it’s Super Slugger! I’ve had the luxury of working alongside this mass of muscles since first year, so I can answer your first question after watching his video. Yes, he is always that loud. But being loud and proud isn’t all that bad, if you’re going to be a hero worth listening to.”[break][break] “I’m sure Lady Tetsuko needs no introduction at this point – if there’s any student that could claim they’re better known than me, it’s her.” There’s a wistful tone to the girl’s voice – not quite as bitter as her words imply, but the longing – or perhaps envy – is there all the same. “UA’s darling. Not without good reason, mind you. Not too big on cameras, from what I’ve seen, so here’s your chance for an exclusive peek into her mind.”[break][break] “To complete the trio that is UA’s nominated best, along comes Curved Lightning! You know, being a full-time hero-in-training doesn’t always leave time to socialize, so I’ve learned just as much about her from this video as you probably will. From what I do know, I’d say she’s one to keep your eyes on." [break][break] [Yumi’s video has been edited to cut out everything before her greeting, and the mention of her friend’s name has been garbled beyond recognition.] [break][break] “I can’t say I expected anybody to use their video to plug their own project. Shameless.” There’s a cocky edge to the smirk that forms, and her lidded eyes seem to give in to the idea. “But I respect it, and will allow it. Once, Jasmine, and only because bold and brazen is as good a way to sum you up as I can think of. Seems fitting.”[break][break] The departure of Caldera’s static image leaves Emi taking centre stage from the comfort of her chair. “That’s all for this batch! When there’s more – and there will be more -, expect another video to introduce more of my soon-to-be colleagues. Who knows? Maybe I’ll throw my own take in there. It’s not a story I share often. If you’re a UA student, don’t be shy – throw your video my way and let’s introduce you to the world? And hey, why not? Pro heroes, you’re invited too! No reason why the people can’t hear from the guys already on the job. Looking forward to hearing what you guys think, and until next time, stay super!” [attr=class, punkialrighttags] Want to take part? Head here!
