It was one of the last days of the period leading toward the grand finale of the military demonstration camp. For those who knew Elise, it would likely not come as a surprise to find her frequently using her spare time to train herself, considering how earnest she was in her efforts to improve her own capacities and learn to become a more capable combatant. Although, it seemed that today she had decided to try something new, something quite different from her usual exercises. She had overheard some interesting rumors in the chat of the school recently: The first and foremost was the matter of Reaper-sensei, an enigmatic pro-hero who had become the new combat teacher of the hero academy. It appeared the man wanted students to become more prepared and ready to deal with certain scenarios, obviously, those that included hostile action and as such a series of group lessons were meant to take place in the near future.
Meanwhile, Elise had learned of several new students who were going to enroll into the school, some who had been placed in the B class of the hero course, the same class she had been in. As a result, the burgundy-haired lass had started to consider the idea of interacting a bit more with her classmates, and what better method than getting to know some of the new students and possibly help them out a little?
In this case, she had decided to reach out to the young Yusaku and possibly a few others, she didn't know much about him, neither having seen or heard anything about the lad beyond his name and if she was entirely honest? She had simply picked him on a whim, there had been no reason other than the fact she had randomly picked someone from the list of the new transfer students. Still, how would Yusaku have felt that rather than being called out at the school building, he instead received an invitation to the Ground Alpha, where Elise had prepared a special exercise of sorts.
Still, to those who would arrive at the scene it would look unusual for sure, while there was no doubt the training ground had been transformed into what could easily be described as a replica of one of Tokyo's more lively and busy shopping districts, vendor stalls and various obstacles filling the ground while the burgundy-haired lass was calmly eating an apple while humming a melody.
If Yusaku would arrive he would no doubt notice a few peculiar things: First and foremost was the fact that they were clearly the only ones in this area currently, and second being that at the place Elise was seated at, on the edge of a table that contained a few baskets, a large fancy black case and curiously enough a folded up raincoat. All in all, it would have been difficult to imagine what type of thing the girl was up to.
"I wonder what type of person Yusaku-kun is going to be like~" The burgundy-haired lass mused softly as she pondered about her new classmate.

A...an invite. An invite from one of his new classmates. To Ground Alpha, no less. The little feline hero-wannabe was kinda sceptical and diffident about this whole ordeal. Was this a prank like the one he got into a few years ago? Why would this...Elise girl want to see him in the first place. He didn't remeber doing anything bad to anyone at Yuuei. In all honesty, he had been rather anti-social all around. Sticking to walls, going home when all other kids were long gone, hang around the roof alone during recess.
Things weren't really going to change at U.A. either. Even more so. Since he was in a school were everyone had a quirk, any would be bullies would be even more dangerous. They could surely punch metal and not have a throbbing hand afterwards. Or they could overload him. Or melt him. Or...
Snapping out of his train of thoughts with a vigorous headshake, Yusaku stopped at the entrance. Timidly showing his Yuuei student badge and the invite letter to the guardsmen, he tried to look as confident as possible, but he was failing rather miserably. Eventually he was allowed to walk in and find the place were his classame told they would meet up.
The place was...an arena. Did she want to see his quirk? Would he have to fight in case he wanted to bail out? Lots of questions echoued in the robocat's mind as he peeked his head over the wall of a mock building to look over and see if there was anything fishy on the other side. Nothing really caught his eyes, until he finally spotted what looked like a brunette girl waiting behind a table.
"Uh-Uhm...h-hello?" He sheppishly called out, his metallicky-digital voice only loud enough to be barely heard by Elise. "I-I'm Yusaku. Y-Yusaku Iz-z-zumi. I...uuh...I got invited here by a certain Von Eisenberg. Is t-this the right place?"

How curious, or rather what in the world?! When she heard a boyish voice call out to her Elise turned around with the apple still in her hand, on the verge of taking a bite when she suddenly froze on the spot. She was not that unfamiliar with people who didn't look entirely human, in the end when she used her Quirk she turned into a slime girl of all possible things, but this? This was something she had not been prepared for. The student before her looked more like a feline that could walk on two paws rather than a human, and rather than a fur it was metallic, some type of robot? "..." Slowly feeling the apple slipping out of her hand, the delicious fruit started to descend slowly toward the ground when a sudden precise sweet of her other hand scooped it up in mid-fall and her expression of awe and disbelief turned into a gentle smile.
"Don't feel so nervous Yusaku-kun~ You're at the right place." Elise answered with her usual soft and cheerful tone as she took another bite from the apple, chewing on it as she regained her composure. "Sorry about the startled reaction just now, I had heard some stories about a robot girl transferring to General Studies, but I had to admit I didn't expect that there would be a robot cat boy among the new students also~" A little chuckle followed as she gently placed the apple on top of the black case on the table and approached the cat boy's direction.
"My name is Elise~ Elise von Eisenberg, the one who invited you. It's a pleasure to meet you Yusaku-kun~"
With a playful saluting wave of her hand the girl continued her explanation. "You're likely a bit curious about why I suddenly called you out like this? It's mostly just a friendly greeting~ You see, I was in your shoes recently, since I transferred into this class from General Studies, so I know how it is to be the new kid~" Even if she had Tetsuko and knew a few people, it still made her realize she didn't know that many people.
"That is why I invited you and a few others to come here~ Consider it a welcoming party~" A sheepish grin emerged on her lips as she gestured at the baskets. "Although I didn't really consider the fact that not everyone in our class eats regular snacks. I had Tetsu make some snacks earlier but... what do you actually eat?" The girl inquired with a slight tilt of her head to the side before continuing. "But..." As she stopped before the robocat and felt her cheeks flush up lightly, a hand hesitatingly reaching for his head as she tried to rub her fingertips lightly behind his ear. "You look so adorable! Remind me of my housecat~"
And it was on that day people learned something new about Elise von Eisenberg: As much as she feared dogs, she absolutely adored cats!

"A w-welcoming party? W-with other people..." He whispered, slowly exiting his hiding spot, showing his body in full. He had always been shy and really really scared of large crowds. Still, he was there, he couldn't really say no to her. He needed to have good relationships with his fellow classmates. His green eyes tracked her hand, then turned over to the snacks. There was such variety there to satiate at least three, if not four other kids. She had been really considerate. But why a party inside a training camp? The feline robot still wasn't quite convinced about it yet.
The more Elise approached him the more he shrank down in himself. One feet paw on top of the other, tail low on the ground. Fiddling hand-paws, head hung low. It was the same with every new kid he met. He always was so shy and embarassed to show up in public that every time someone tried to greet him he would just salute from afar. "O-oh, uh. Y-yeah. I...I can't eat normal food, I...I have no mouth." He confirmed, still staring at the ground, categorically refusing to make any eye contact. "I...uuh...well due to my Q-Quirk my soul got stuck inhabiting this cybernetic proxy. It was s-supposed to be a power armor worn by law enforcement personnel to fight against villains."
Sure enough, he could fit a whole person inside him...though he never really tried before. He was always just used it as a normal body, or at least, his mind made him believe it was a normal body.
"At f-first it was weird. B-but I...uhm...I can use my tail to charge up my batteries. I just plug myself into a power outlet for a few hours." He added, trying to stay on topic. "I also can u-use my paws to drain batteries." Raising one hand towards her, he showed his metallic paw pads that functioned as receptors for electricity. "I...I can also discharge my energy though th-them." He concluded, small little sparks enveloping his paws to show what he had just said.
Raising his head up once he caught vision of Elise's shoes, he finally noticed that she was actually standing in front of him. The sudden compliment struck the feline robot rather unexpectedly. No one outside his parents had ever found him...cute. Not only that, but Elise was raising her hand...she was trying to...
While he couldn't really blush, the little girl could tell just how embarassed he was by his voice alone. "T-thank you." He managed to whisper. Shying away at first, Yusaku hesitantly allowed Elise to pet him. Deep down, the little cat yearned for affection in a world that deemed people like him like nature freaks.

“U.A., Ground Alpha. The school’s official training grounds. Well, part of it – this place is huge! The government must have a lot of faith in this hero school thing, because there’s no way they cheaped out on this!” A steady handheld Emi’s DSLR in front of her as she spoke into it. As always, she had a welcoming smile on, and though she had to make sure she didn’t walk into a building, her future viewers would see confident eyes meeting theirs most of the time. “The place is looking pretty empty, though. If I understand right, most of the students are away for some fancy event, but I’m supposed to be meeting a fe- Oh, wait, there they are!”
The students would hear Emi before they saw her, giving them just enough time to run for cover before she turned the corner, and subsequently turned the camera on them. She only held it for two seconds before she hit pause, deciding that some introductions were in order before she made stars out of them. Besides, vlogging wasn’t her priority. Her future classmates had invited her out, and what kind of person would she be to decline? More importantly, how would she be Daddy’s Little Businesswoman if she didn’t scope out what she had to work with? To her, this wasn’t a gathering – it was an evaluation. If they couldn’t pass, then she would have to take matters into her own hands. Considering that they didn’t know what they were being evaluated for, the odds weren’t in their favour.
Of course, a first impression was its own assessment, so she had made sure to look her best. Emi wasn’t one to wear clothes more than a handful of times, but she had chosen one of her favourite outfits to greet her peers. With bangles, belts and bows galore, she looked like she had stepped just out of a photo shoot – and that was to say nothing of her face, always ready for a cute picture with a photogenic smile.
“Hey! Class 1-B, right?” She raised her free hand to greet the two, wasting no time in giving them the once-over with her eyes. The girl was awfully tall for her age, which Emi assumed to be no more than fourteen. Easy on the eyes, but nothing special, unless she somebody to hold up a sign at the next sporting event. The other one, well… Emi had to assume they were male, but it was difficult to tell under all that armour. “Oh, was this supposed to be something physical? Nobody told me to come suited up! Though I guess I should’ve figured that out if we were meeting here.” She quickly shrugged it off. She didn’t have a hero outfit prepared, but there was only so much ass-kicking she could do in heels. Either way, it was harder to read somebody when their face was hidden under armour, but at the very least, he seemed prepared. Ready for anything. He’d caught her attention, but would he be able to keep it? Judging by his body language… probably not.
The girl had Emi’s attention too, but only because she had been the one to summon her. Even then, if one followed Emi’s gaze, it seemed that she struggled to figure out which was more interested – the girl or her table. “So, what’s this about? No school, and everybody’s on holiday, and yet, here we are. Is it some kind of super-secret special program?” A smug smile told that Emi wasn’t surprised to be invited to the club in the slightest. In fact, everything about her told that she was used to the spotlight, and knew how to own every scene she was in. “Oh, but where are my manners? Emi Ryoko Tachibana.” She gestured to herself. “Fellow 1-B student, U.A.’s latest underdog and vlogging star.”644 words | OOC: More information on the vlog here and in Emi's history, in case your characters might be familiar with it. |

It wasn't difficult for Elise to notice the shyness of the robot cat, although that didn't exactly stop her from trying to interact with him. "Don't worry so much Yusaku-kun, the students I invited were all mostly newly enrolled ones like yourself, so in a way they are all in the same shoes as you. Besides the B-class is known to have a very friendly and nice atmosphere among the hero course classes, so you'll be fine." She told him reassuringly with a smile.
When Yusaku commented about having no mouth the girl nodded her head attentively in response. She had looked at the design of his face when he first arrived, and indeed the robot cat seemed to lack a mouth, although it made some sort of sense if one considered the fact that a robot didn't exactly have a stomach to digest stuff with. "I see~ Do you talk through a speaker then? I don't think you'd have vocal cords without a proper mouth, right?" The burgundy-haired lass inquired with a smile.
Still, when Yusaku started to explain his quirk in greater detailed the young lady couldn't help but find herself somewhat intrigued. "So your 'soul' transferred into this cybernetic vessel? Does that mean your brainwaves were digitalized and somehow transmitted into this body? That makes me wonder what happened to your original bo-" However, realizing the insensitive nature of her musing Elise quickly shook her head and apologized with a gentle smile. "I'm sorry, forget what I said Yusaku-kun~ I study the medical arts quite often, in the end before enrolling into this school I was studying at a medical school in order to become a doctor so sometimes Quirks can fascinate me a fair bit~"
Yet as Yusaku continued to explain the nature of his recharging habits the girl nodded her head a few times as she continued to ponder about the nature of things. "Hmm fascinating, is there any difference between using your paws and tail?" The burgundy-haired lass inquired with a clear hint of curiosity in her voice.
Still, when the robot cat got flustered at her compliment and the way she was scratching behind his ear? God it was so freaking adorable it almost made her want to squee! Continuing the scratching gently she hummed softly. "You remind me a little of Stumpie~ She's a Japanese bobtail cat that we took in a few years ago~ Seems she was abandoned because people thought she had been stuck with her tail somewhere... ridiculous if you ask me, nobody should abandon such a sweet cat."
The girl whispered softly as her hand traced along the outline of Yusaku's cheek and down to his chin, gently caressing it similar to the motion that tended to make her own cat purr when finally she pulled her hand away. "But you might be in luck Yusaku-kun, I brought my drone's spare batteries along in case I needed them, just I hope their 'flavor' will be to your liking~" Elise chimed in with a playful wink.
Still, to think that the first student to arrive outside of Yusaku would be this 'colorful'? She had to admit she was somewhat amused. The Camera the girl was holding, the playful and confident demeanor she carried herself with, there was no reason even for the girl to introduce herself. "Yep~ We're all members of the B-class here~ This is Yusaku." Elise began with a little wave of her hand to the side and then trailed her hand back to her chest, tapping it lightly as a gesture that she was talking about herself. "And I'm Elise~"
However, it seemed that just like Yusaku, the newcomer had been quite curious about the nature of this invitation. "Hah~ I hope you're still able to move well on those heels of yours, not like you'll have much time to change into a hero costume in the middle of an emergency~" Elise chimed in amusement as she gestured with a light wave to the nearby area.
"Although the exercises I got prepared are more in the form of little games rather than real training, there is no reason that having fun with a game doesn't serve as proper training, and believe me... the game I got planned is going to leave you two sweating and wishing you skipped the invitation," Elise answered her curiosity with a smirk.
Still, as Emi was about to introduce herself Elise quickly raised a hand upwards, a finger right before the girl's lips as she hummed softly. "I think it's easy to figure out who you are~ After all there is only one at Yūei Kōkō who would ever be found sleeping with a camera in her bed~ Emi-chan from Ryokoko right?" She asked with a playful wink as she took a step away from the duo and walked over to the table.
"I seen your vblog before~ Especially that one article about Mia- I mean Red Horn was pretty interesting~ Met her before actually, still got a fun memento from our meeting~" Elise hummed happily as she spun around on the back of her heels in front of the table and looked at the duo with a grin.
"But to answer your question Emi-chan, it's true that most of the students are on holiday currently due to the military demonstration camp. However, as soon as the break ends and classes resume there will be exercises held by Geist-sensei, the new combat instructor. I imagine that the two of you didn't really get the chance to train much yet so..."
She paused for a moment, the glint of excitement in her eyes and the way she had waited for a moment making it clear she was trying to stir the hype a little. "So I thought of a little exercise for the two of you~ Of course, we won't be doing any actual fighting. If I were to fight I'd likely get scolded by my sensei, that and with the current state of the infirmary it would mean that after we're done it would be I or Rin who would have to deal with your injuries..." The last remark was added with a playful little sigh before she finally revealed the nature of what she had in mind.
"So instead we'll be playing a game of tag~ Sounds easy right?" Of course it did, tag was a game children played, but that dangerous glint in her eyes and that mischievous smile made it clear there was more in store for them. "Think again~ Ever played tag in a crowded shopping district? If you thought chasing your friends in such a place was hard..."
The burgundy-haired lass took a light hop when suddenly her body started to undergo its metamorphosis, for instead of feet hitting the ground it was a small blue blob that bounced on the spot, although it rapidly bounced upwards again, a whole whooping three meters into the air as she bounced from one stack of crates onto the other and landed on top of the parasol above the table, her body sliding down along it as she landed on top of the raincoat, her body seemingly pulling down the raincoat and as she slipped off the table and between the two students again her upper-body started to form above the blob, making it so that everything from her waist and up looked like a human again, although it was clear now that her quirk was, in essence, a slime girl. "Playing tag with one of the fastest students of the school is going to be an excellent exercise~"
She turned toward the duo and inquired with a playful tone. "So Yusaku-kun, are you as nimble and agile as a cat~ and can Emi-chan run as fast as she can vlog? See it next time on Emi's Exclusives~ Did I do that right?" She asked with a playful wink.
If Emi thought of her as 'nothing special', then what would she think now of the energetic lass?

He really was beginning to like Elise...although...being treated like a cat was kinda weird for him. However, he didn't mind all the affection he was getting so he decided to let her do her thing. "R-right, i-if you say so." He said in response of Elise's description of his soon to be class.
Then, it came the time of the many questions. It was by now a usual occurrence, seeing as how his own look presented itself to outsiders. Nodding once to Elise's first question, the robo cat raised is hand paw over his face and pointed at his mouth guard, where a normal human's nose and mouth would be located. "My voice is entirely computer generated using audio samples of my old real voice. A predictive algorythm should technically change the pitch to match my "age". Right now, this is what I would have sounded like if I had 15 years."
He always liked to go into the nitty gritty of anything scienc-y or tech-y. He had picked up hacking as a hobby just because of that. Sure, with a robotic body it helped him do more stuff, but most if not all of his studies were curiosity driven. He liked the topic so much that for a few moments he even forgot he was supposed to be a really shy cat boy.
A worried look displayed on his face as Elise asked about his real, old body. "No no! It's fine, really. I...I d-don't mind." He quickly reassured the girl. He gave out a long sigh, then began explaining what was probably the most complex and scientifically absurd part of his Quirk. "B-biologically I...well...biologically, I died eight years ago. Wiithout my consciousness inhabiting it, my old body was basically like a completely braindead corpse. No heartbeat, no response to pain. Legally, I was dead. So uuh...my parents opted to...well...take my old body to the crematory and bury the ashes somewhere. I don't really have a tomb cause I still kinda am alive. We just did not want to keep a corpse around, is all."
A quick pause, just to see if Elise had understood everything. Telling someone that you had cremated and buried yourself could be quite confusing. Then, he tapped his chest with his paw, and the interlocking metal plates clicked open, allowing Yusaku to literally pull his chest armor open to reveal a hollow inisde to Elise. He had said the truth, his inisde were padded with soft foam and there was enough space for a human to fit inside. Sure, it was going to be a somewhat tight fit, but the fact still remained: Yusaku could be worn as power armor by others.
"This body didn't originally look like this. It was going to be new cybernetically enhanced armor the policemen could wear to fight Quirkers. At least, this was a project before heroes happened. It just got modified to look like this after I got stuck in, mostly b-because my younger self liked cats and wanted to be like some colo robocat superhero. All the weapons and ammunition for them were taken out in favor for more battery space and autonomy. I didn't want it to be converted into a complete robot too. All these plates are heavy, and adding more would have slowed me down too much. Besides, this could possibly help with hero stuff. If someone is in danger, say, in a burning house...they could wear me an run through the flames without risk of being hurt!" He took that moment to push the plates back into place, sealing himself back up. "I-it also feels r-really really n-nice...to be worn." He admitted, once again fiddling with his hand paws while his gaze trailed off elsewere as he remembered the time when he allowed his best and only elementary school friend to wear him out of sheer curiosity.
Shaking his head back into focus, he turned to Elise once more. "The suit was designed with an onboard Neural Network enabled micro computer. Basically, a supercomputer that can elaborate data kinda like how a human brain does. No program had been installed, so when my brain waves got converted, they simply transferred inside here." He pointed at the top of his head, between his ears. "I can still feel things through haptic sensors, hear through microphones in my ears, see through the whole display here too. I just project the eyes so that people can have something to make eye contact with and see where I am looking or if I am awake. That's...pretty much the whole story." He concluded.
He...never really opened up like that with others before, maybe it was because deep down he was enjoying Elise's manners and overall kindness. Still, being honest with his classmates would be kinda like his first hero deed. Heroes are supposed to be always honest with others, no?
When she asked about how he recharged himself, he turned to the side to show her his tail, as well as opening one of his paws wide to show her the paw pads on the inside of his palm and fingers. "Think of it like eating and drinking. Plugging my tail in a power outlet is way more efficient in charging me up. Just a couple of hours and I am completely topped of for a day or two. It feels like...drinking water through a large straw." He wiggled his tail to show he had control of its movements. "Draining energy with my paws is not as efficient as my tail, but it can work. I can't really plug into a battery, so I just...hold it in my paw as I consume it. Since the transfer is slower it actually gives me some sort of weird tingly feeling...and it feels like I'm tasting things. Alkaline batteries taste like...hmmm...think like an orange. A really sour/acid taste. Lthium batteries instead are spicy, like pepper or mexican sauce. MY favourite are LiPo batteries though. Something about the chemical mix in there makes em taste sweet. Like cotton candy or honey. Depends on the brand, really."
After that exhaustive explanation on how his weird anatomy worked, the little cat boy shifted closer to Elise as she pet him, frowning as she told him about her cat. "I...I am sorry for your cat. I hope she's happy now." He chimed as she stopped scratching his ear. She was offering him her drone's batteries to eat now?
"I-it's fine. I don't want to drain your drone d-"
THe feline robot was suddenly interrupted by a new arrival. A new, highly hyperactive and perky arrival. Startled, he immediately jumped up and scrambled behind Elise. He would try to hide behind the little girl even more so as he noticed the other girl's camera and paparazzi behaviour. He simply waved from behind Elise as she introduced herself as another one of his new classmates. Tachibana. Somehow that name sounded famous to him. Once Elise returned to her table and began explaining all the excer-wait...did she just melt into a blo-OH GOD THAT'S FAST.
Yusaku was somewhat amazed by Elise's quirk. He didn't have a jaw to drop, but his tail flopped to the ground instead. So, she could become amorphous and generally fast or flexible. That was some hell of a superpower, nevermind his weird cyber body. He was mesmerized by the way she flowed around rather effortlessly. Squatting down low, he would curiosly move a paw over to poke the slime girl's chest as she stopped between him and the other girl, Emi. He shook his head at Elise's new question.
"I don't think I can catch you if you're that fast...and I can't be nearly as flexible as you. A metallic body like this his rather heavy, while normal oil powered hydolics can't really flow as good as...what you're made of..."

“If I ever ended up on patrol, of course I’d be wearing my battle-ready shoes!” Emi had to make sure they knew she had a fair argument, but really, what was she expecting to do at Ground Alpha, the ultra-advanced training facility? Certainly not games. That sounded like child’s play; not the kind of activities heroes in training got up to. Her smile was just about ready to fade when Elise said the magic words. She recognised her. Somebody in the school had seen her work! Externally, a glimmer in her eye showed she appreciated the kind words. Internally, she was squealing. A lot. “Well!” She held a finger up. “I would never sleep next to my camera. The last thing I’d want to do is get back pains from rolling around, or break the flash. My camera has a dedicated spot in my room, right next to its crew – tripod, wind muffler and flash!” For some reason, she sounded very proud about that.
“But yeah, that’s me! Ready for a new adventure at Yūei! Glad to hear that a few students have already seen my stuff.” Fantastic, even. Considering that her content was going to be all about heroes and students, making her presence known in Japan’s first hero school was a crucial step on the path to stardom. Hearing that almost made up for the girl’s juvenile idea! Almost. Her smile twitched as Elise explained her idea of an engaging, ice-breaking exercise for teenagers. Tag. The words ‘How old are you again?’ dangled on her lips, but a newfound respect for the girl (no doubt brought on by her flattery) stopped her short of speaking her mind. “Er… Tag? Don’t you think there might be something more helpful we coul-“
She didn’t get to finish, for the girl was too eager. She went up, but didn’t come down as a human. Emi had heard no end of jokes about her, a former streamer, being able to create salt, which may have been why her first thought was that the girl turned into a generic JRPG enemy. Until she partially reformed, becoming something out of a grown man’s anime fantasy. She quickly decided she’d rather not think about that, and focused on the girl’s speed instead. The school hadn’t been open for long, and yet, the girl could already bound around the place faster than most athletes she’d ever seen. Was that a testament to what a little training could do, or just to the advantages those with quirks had?
The armoured cat, by contrast, had absolutely nothing to say to her. A shame, she thought – he’d looked so interesting, and might have even made for a good vlogging star. Alas, he seemed happy to hide and shy away from her, of all people. There were definitely times where she could make herself threatening, but this wasn’t one of them, so what was he scared of? A question for later, she decided – the girl’s taunting comments came first. To him, she offered little more than a brief, baffled stare.
Emi furrowed her brow, her smile fading. She took a few seconds to consider her words, busying herself by shutting off her camera and stowing it away. She decided that there was no way to get her point across without sounding at least a little rude… But went for it anyway. “So, you arranged to meet a bunch of new students… That you knew would be newly-trained… Just so that you could choose a game that would show off how much better you are than us?” She squinted at the slime girl. Emi wasn’t one to admit she would lose easily, but she saw no point in hiding that she was outmatched – especially in her heels. Even the robo-boy had something to say about her choice of game, though she took note of his nicer way to say it. “I don’t know about all this… I mean, it’s nice of you to take time out to try and meet some newbs and all, but that’s an odd choice in game, if that isn’t what you had in mind. I barely even know anything about you guys, other than what I can see now.”

A slight nod of affirmation was made by Elise when Yusaku seemed to believe her words, or at least he seemed to be taking them into consideration. However, when her questions first arose Elise couldn't help but find herself bewildered at the explanation of the robot cat. "That's pretty impressive, to think that technology could do such stuff already. And I'm seventeen myself, turning eighteen soon, so I guess I'm your senpai then in terms of age~" the burgundy-haired lass answered him with a playful smile. However, her smile faded away as she averted her gaze awkwardly. "It makes sense, I mean your physical body might have died, but in a way your soul is able to live on inside this new vessel, right?" The girl tried to answer reassuringly as if hoping to cheer him up but when he suddenly tapped his chest and the metal plates clicked open she almost let out a soft cry of disbelief, her hands covering her eyes as she warned him with a clear hint of nervousness in her voice. "Next time at least tell me. I might be a medical student, but even I am not prepared for the day someone just goes and open their torso going 'Welcome! Welcome! Have a peek inside, don't worry no guts, blood or organs to clean up afterward!'"
A weak chuckle followed as the girl finally shook her head trying to vanquish the eerie thought. Still, with Yusaku commenting that the body originally didn't look like that, but was modified to resemble his childhood interests Elise nodded her head attentively. "It certainly would be an excellent means of carrying a civilian or an injured partner to safety." the burgundy-haired lass answered with an attentive nod of agreement, still she couldn't help but hear the last comment. "First time I ever heard a boy saying he liked having something inside him..." the lass muttered under her breath, almost suppressing a chuckle.
However, she soon focused back on the conversation where Yusaku clarified further on the nature of the suit, the fact it had a special component which allowed his brain waves to convert, seemingly giving him certain senses similar to what a regular person would obtain. "That's pretty fascinating, I didn't imagine technology could replicate the human senses in a way like this. That actually could provide to be quite a boon in the medical field also." Elise mused softly as she felt her researcher side triggering at the conversation.
Of course, as the conversation continued on terms of recharging the girl couldn't help but tilt her head in curiosity. "Remind me to get you some LiPo batteries next time I go shopping~" Elise answered him with a smile, clearly curious about seeing what type of reaction absorbing and feeding upon said energy would cause within the cat boy.
Nonetheless, in the wake of her introduction and idea of a little minigame of sorts Elise couldn't help but sight at the overall reactions the idea had received. It seemed Yusaku had meekly decided that he would never be able to catch up with her, while Emi seemingly looked offended, the accusation almost reminding her of a certain past event. "Would you throw in the towel when facing a villain simply because you're outmatched?" Her tone might have sounded harsh but as she took a humanoid form she continued speaking, her gaze sharpening a little. "In fact, until two weeks ago I was still a student in the Support Studies branch, never even participated in a proper combat training exercise before. And before then? Till a few months ago you could still find me seated in a lecture hall at Tokyo Medical."
She shook her head lightly, a hand tapped lightly onto her hip as she continued. "What I'm trying to say here is that: If you want to be able to graduate, you're going to need to want to improve yourself, and that can only be done by pushing yourself to your limits and working to improve upon them." She turned toward Yusaku and smiled briefly at him as she continued. "Yusaku-kun, it might be true that you lack the means to catch up with me when I'm moving at my fastest, but by chasing me, won't you be able to learn to calculate trajectories to follow in order to reduce the time it takes to get to me? Afterwards it's just a matter of strengthening that body of yours, in this case through upgrades which I'm sure people in Support Studies like Yojin-kun could assist with."
She turned her gaze back at Emi, as she gestured at the basket full of snacks on the table. "Simply said: the reason behind this game was simply a means to provide you with an opportunity to try to test your current capacities and work on figuring out where to improve in terms of mobility before proper lectures would resume. Besides, would you rather end up having your first experience be during the new combat instructor his lessons? Do you think he would go 'Yeah, sure you're all newly trained students so I'm going to go easy on you? That... simply won't happen, in a way this school is like the prologue toward entering hero society someday and the world outside? It doesn't care if you're newly trained or unprepared. Believe me, I know that from experience"
She took a deep breath, letting out a long sigh as she noticed the paw that Yusaku had raised toward her, the light poke at her chest making her chuckle softly as she extended a hand to lightly shake his paw after her body made a light jiggle upon making contact with his paw.
"Either way, this idea wasn't meant to be an intimidation attempt or a chance at bragging, consider it more as a chance to exercise a little and prepare yourselves for the more rigorous lessons that the school will surely provide. If you still are of the same opinion, then feel free to just indulge on some of the snacks in the baskets Emi-chan, else the baskets underneath the table might help with the issue of shoewear, although they are merely the type of gym shoes provided by the school."

Yusaku quietly stood there as the two girls bickered back and forth. He didn't believe Elise had invited him and all the others just to brag. She probably had gone out of her way to grab food and prepare the area for her game of Tag. Even though he knew for a fact he couldn't catch up to her by running after the slime girl, maybe he could try to catch them on a rebound or something along those lines. Still, he didn't want to just leave like that. Elise hadd been so kind to him.
It amazed him how skilled the brunette gil was. She had begun her journey in general studies, and through hard work she had even crossed over to the Hero Course, despite her quirk not being 100% combat related. He sure could learn something from her. Who knew he would learn about hard work and confidence today.
"I...I'll play." He mumbled, his voice barely audible over Emi's exhuberant personality. "I want to play with you, Elise." He repeated, louder this time. Raising his head he looked up at the slime girl. "S-so...do I need to just touch you...or do I need to hold you still t-to win?" He asked, lowering his body into a rather exotic looking fight stance. "I'll...I'll try to do my very best."

If the girl was expecting Emi to get upset or annoyed, she would be sorely disappointed. It didn’t take long for her smile to re-emerge; weaker, but with a smug edge to it. “Of course not. If I had to fight a villain and I was outmatched, I’d change the situation to one where I wasn’t. I’m not going to keep playing a game of speed with a guy I don’t stand a chance against. That doesn’t work when you’re A) not a villain, and B) setting the terms for us all. Not exactly a real villain scenario, right?” She brought a single finger to tap the side of her head. The rest of Elise’s speech was probably meant to inspire or motivate them to try, but if her expression was anything to go by, it’d missed the mark with the vlogger. She’d settled on a neutral expression – unimpressed, unafraid, and perhaps unconvinced. “Nobody’s saying anybody here isn’t looking to improve. We’d be in the wrong school if we didn’t care about getting better. I was just saying that it’s an oddly specific choice of game to play with strangers. I don’t think either of us are about to learn how to run faster by chasing you down, but sure, we could ‘learn how to angle ourselves better’.”
She could have continued, but Yusaku spoke again. Their host’s speech had been enough to wear him down, and she knew what that meant. “But fine. No problem. If two people want to play, then I’m the asshole for not joining in, right?” She shrugged with a ‘what can you do’ smile, having already convinced herself that one of them would see her side of things. She approached the table, squatting to draw out a few baskets. To her credit, the girl had at thought to bring spare shoes, and one of them was just about Emi’s size! Her voice grew a little quieter. “…Thanks for bringing shoes along, though.” Sitting on one of the chairs, Emi swapped out her heeled loafers for UA trainers. She held back the urge to comment on the quality of the shoes, but to the school’s credit, they hadn’t skimped out on footwear. They may not have been the most fashionable pair, but they were functional, and as long as nobody took pictures of her feet, there would be no problems.
The time it took her to put on her gear was more than enough time for her to realise that maybe bitching about the girl’s ideas wasn’t the best way to make a first impression. Should she apologise? No, of course not – Emi had too much pride to do that without prompting. She mulled over her options for a few seconds, staring at her feet before she settled on- “If we’re going to be doing this tag thing, we may as well do it right. I don’t want to see any slacking, understand?” She eyed Yusaku in particular – the boy seemed oddly hesitant for somebody that had arrived battle-ready, and she wasn’t sure that she liked it. “That’s how I operate. Anything I do better be done right, the first time.”

Yusaku had been quiet most of the time, but right now that Emi girl was really grinding his gears. The tipping pont happened when she shot him a look while going on about no slacking. In that moment, Yu's frustration overshadowed his shy persona and a bolt of lighting zipped past Emi's head, way to the left and off target, but still close enough to make a point.
"How about you think for yourself instead of others, Miss "I am the coolest in the world."" He barked at her, visibly annoyed and a whole great deal of frustrated. greatly pissed off even. "Who do you think you are? Waltzing in here like a holliwood star, pretending to be so above the others, thinking everyone should care about who you are. 'Oh look at me, I am so mature. Why play tag'" He mocked her cheeful tone, which came out suprisingly well since he literally played back a reconding of her voice, adding a bit of autotune here and there to reflect his own pissed off tone.
"Then you accuse Elise of organizing this whole party just to show off and THEN now you're insinuating I'm lazy. Now that pisses me off." He barked, turning even more angry by the second.
"I'm not here to shoot photos and hope other call me cute, and I don't care about whatever bullshit you write on you blog thingy on what cosmetic to use with your hero costume. I came here because I want to help people. I want to make sure others like you who take themselves so high and mighty don't use their quirks to harm people. I wouldn't be here if I were lazy, because people's lives depend on you to give your absolute 100% all the time and more. If you screw up, people die."
In a fit of...rather explosive rage, Yusaku punched the nearest wall, effortlessly cracking it. "So S-T-F-U and G-T-F-O. No one is forcing you to stay here. If you don't like it, leave."
Without giving Emi another look, Yusaku pulled his paw out of the concrete wall he had lodged himself into and turned on his heels, making some distance between him and Elise. "Fifteen seconds head start. Target's threat level is less than 200, non lethal Quirk Usage allowed. Battle Routine, Execute." He warned Elise about his intentions. She had just a few moments to start running.
"15...14...13...12...11...10..." He began counting as he walked further away, his mind already cooking up three different plans of attack.

Of course, Emi seemed to be quite confident of herself and her reasoning, and although Elise felt a tiny sliver of annoyance, it didn't seem to show on her expression, for her smile remained sympathetic and gentle. "And that is your first mistake Emi-chan: Villains won't care about what you think or feel, and more often than not they are the ones setting the terms, it's up to the heroes to turn the tables into their favor. Do you think Darkshine-san was the one setting the terms of her conflict against the villain Thunder Shock?" She shook her head lightly as she resumed her explanation. "She was forced to fight on his terms, and figure out a way to turn things around. More often than not it is exactly because of their nature, that villains fight on their terms. In the end, unlike us the things they need to worry about are much less in amount."
Always be ready for a challenge, always be striving to overcome said challenges, she still didn't know what it truly meant to be a hero, but after the recent events, she started to slowly get a grasp of what in her eyes was the definition of a hero. Of course, her reasoning made Elise almost sigh disappointedly. "Really? Then tell me Emi-chan, how do people learn to run faster?" She waited for a moment until the realization would likely settle in. "Indeed, by exercising."
However, it was at that time that shit hit the fan, or at the very least it seemed that Emi's words and overall attitude provoked an impulsive outburst with the robot cat, making her blink momentarily. Phew, seems there was quite a feral little tiger hiding inside Yusaku. For a moment she couldn't help but feel herself having a flashback of a certain event, one where she had tried to hold a little meet and greet and things went down south there because of a misunderstanding. What was it with her attracting confrontations?
"Yusaku-kun..." Her voice softened a little as she turned toward him. "There is no need to get so hostile. Although I will be honest and say I can somewhat understand that you're displeased with her attitude, letting your emotions get the better of you isn't exactly that 'heroic' either, isn't it?" Although it might had sounded like she was scolding him, she pondered the best course of action. "Who needs villains when situations like this unfold, if I were a civilian I would get worried about heroes bickering in front of me."
She glanced at Emi's direction as she had heard the softer words, barely but at least they made her smile again. "Likewise, there is no reason to assume that Yusaku-kun would do any slacking Emi-chan, not exactly the most solid of first impressions when you start to act like this." She shook her head lightly, stretching her body lightly with a soft popping sound as she hummed softly. "You might want to put the camera on the table, unless you're confident enough to record and run at the same time?"
The slime girl inquired with a smile as she turned toward Yusaku and was just in time to catch his question. "Pinning me down might be a bit hard due to the nature of my body, but-" She gestured toward the raincoat as she slipped her hands through the sleeves and it started to stick to her body. "Just pull the coat off me, don't worry I minmailized the adhesive nature of my slime so that a simple tug from either of you should get it loose~"
Watching the robot cat seemingly prepare some sort of system call Elise tilted her head to the side in confusion. "Less than two hundred? I'd feel mildly offended, at least go 'She's over eight thousand!' when you get the chance to use a catch phrase like that." Indeed, even despite being given a headstart Elise still seemed to be jesting only a few steps away from the robot cat as she looked from Yusaku to Emi.
"I guess I should start running, should I? Or wait, in this case bounce~" The girl hummed in amusement as she waited for either one to approach her. Whether it would be Yusaku dashing at her, or Emi finally taking action, either one of them would quickly notice that Elise's confidence wasn't misplaced because as if she had steadied her footing, a sudden bounce upwards would have made her bounce at least three meters over the first one to approach her before she landed a few steps away behind their back, her lips curved up into a smile.
"Word of advice: You two might want to try to work together, I know easier said than done, but in the words of one of our teachers: You sometimes don't get to decide who you're forced to work together with." The girl hummed softly as she bounced a few times on the spot, having made a few meters of distance between herself and the two of them. "I'll provide some trivia for the two of you~ I can bounce up to three meters high without a start, although I never really clocked my speed, I think Darren might be a bit faster than me when he uses his quirk." The girl mused softly while eying the duo. "Let's see how things go~ At least you two have the element of surprise since I got no idea what Emi-chan's quirk is like."
A few more bounces followed as she hopped on the spot similar to an athlete preparing themselves for an exercise. "So Yusaku-kun~ Emi-chan~ Why did the two of you enroll into U.A?" Of course, she assumed Yusaku would have a bit of a traditional answer that she expected to hear: I want to become a hero! But she genuinely wondered what made someone like Emi decide to enroll. But for now she was waiting to see the first attempts of the duo to catch her!

A bolt of energy was enough to break the girl’s composure. Wide and alarmed eyes whipped to the side the bolt flew by. It was a botched attack, clearly intended to miss. Apparently, it wasn’t the only shot fired – Yusaku had flown off the handle. He had Emi’s attention for all of two seconds before her eyes returned to normal. She reached into her bag and pulled out her phone. A few taps pulled up the camera, which also doubled as a mirror! She held it up, checking her face, and then her ponytail. Observing from a few angles eased her worries: he hadn’t singed her hair or ruined her look! Phew.
She locked her phone and pocketed it, only to realise that he was still going. An eyebrow raised, but if her priorities didn’t tell him that she didn’t care much, the slightly glazed look in her eyes might have done the trick. Unfortunately for the yeller, the career that he saw fit to insult had given her quite the thick skin. It was a necessity to survive as a content creator. When viewers saw fit to shower her with abuse and death threats for meeting the wrong people, or playing a game the wrong way, or being born with a quirk, she had to get tough or get out of the business. It made it all the easier to let the boy’s words go through one ear and out the other. The voice mod was a nice touch, though – she noted that his tech was surprisingly advanced for what sounded like a teenager. Even his punch only brought a small smirk out of her.
As much as she would have loved to argue training methods with Elise more, the cat-thing’s behaviour took priority. ‘Bless her’, she thought, realising that the girl was doing her best to diffuse the situation. If nothing else, some small sense of respect for the girl stopped her from dishing out the words as bad as she was given them, and then some.
That wasn’t to say that she would be quiet, of course. Emi Ryoko Tachibana was nothing if she couldn’t talk.
“You’re done, right?” He’d turned to storm off, so an answer was unnecessary. She continued in a dry tone. “Finally. Alright, er… Yeah, sure. I’m the terrible hero, and you sure showed me that. Firing on a girl you’ve just met because you disagreed with her. Very heroic. Is that… normal here?” She turned to the slime girl with squinted inquisitive eyes. “Warning shots at classmates? I would’ve thought that would be the first thing you’d call him out on, but…” She shrugged once again and leaned back in the chair. “I’m not going to go into any of Koneko’s first impressions, because you seem nice and like you wanted this to go well and I don’t want to start more trouble, but that wasn’t meant to be offensive. I was just letting you both know how I roll. More to the point, I don’t think I can trust a boy that just threatened me to work with me without trying again. So you’re not going to find out what my quirk is just yet. He can apologise, or he can run this himself.” She crossed her legs, showing no intention of moving. The boy was more than welcome to try and give chase, but from what she had seen, and by his own admission, a solo effort was bound to end in failure. A fitting punishment for a boy that wouldn’t ask for forgiveness.
Elise’s final question was heard, but Emi chose not to answer. Hopefully it would appear that she ignored her to make a point, but the truth of the matter was that her reason wasn’t nearly as admirable as any traditional answer. It took a few seconds for her to remember that the asker wasn’t the one she had qualms with, and so she gave a hesitant response. “I’m researching.” A pause. “For the vlog you saw. For myself. For the world, eventually. Mine is a project that nobody’s ever done before, so who knows how it’ll end?” A vague answer, perhaps, but it was a start, and far from cliché.

It was a good think Yusaku had other means to vent his anger and pent up aggression, otherwise the little blogger would have been fried on the spot with one of his electric attacks.
Now then.
He needed to cook up a strategy. First thing to do with little hummingbirds if you want to catch them is to restrict their freedom of movement. Which meant the robot cat would have to get creative with his approach and back Elise into a corner. But not just one corner. He had to box her in. No space to manouvre up down left or right. Only then, he would be able to approach and grab her. Easier said than done, but he could still take a shot at it none the less. So, at zero, the cat didn't turn around to immediately rush at the bouncy opponent, no. He instead dived to the left, way out of both the girls' field of view. Some metallic scuffle could be heard as Yusaku's metallkic paws quickly grazed the ground. Then, even the sounds stipped.
That's right, use the field to your advantage. Open attacks would be stupidly futile, he had to act on the counter, catch her on the air where she would have a set speed and trajectory he could predict. In the air she would have nothing to bounce off either, so that would be his ideal place to box her in. Second step would be to catch her from a blind spot. He had no proof to know if she could see on the back of his head or not, but strking from behind seemed a bit too telegraphed and easy to predict, so he would need to go for some weird angle of attack. For now, Yusaku had to focus on not making any sound or any move that could compromise his position and reveal where he was hiding. He needed to be like a lion stalking their prey. Elise didn't look like a gazelle, but she sure was way faster.
So, the robot just stood where he was, waiting. He didn't need to rush. He got all the time in the world to spare...
