APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
Emi is a gorgeous girl and knows it. Carrying herself with confidence, the girl is often seen with a gentle smile on her face, even when idle. It’s plainly obvious that the girl puts a lot of effort into her appearance. That’s not to say that she lacks natural beauty – far from it, even. Good genes maintained by a strict beauty regime and enhanced by makeup creates a face that’s very easy on the eyes. The rest of her body isn’t too far behind – though she’s careful to avoid outfits that might give boys the wrong idea, she’s confident enough to wear sundresses, short skirts and belly tops, should the weather allow for it. In short, she makes herself attractive, but not overtly sexualised.
Her hair is almost always tied into a high ponytail, though she might go for two on special occasions, or just to make herself feel better.

Personality:
Emi is fun, vivacious, high-spirited and full of jokes… as long as a camera is rolling. Years crafting a persona for her audience have meant that the facade has more or less overtaken whatever her true personality had been. That’s not to say that it’s wholly a bad thing - to many, at a glance, the girl is very charismatic, easy to get along with and always ready for adventure. One would need to scratch beneath the surface to find the cracks in her person. Years away from most public settings means that the girl missed the lessons that come with any group setting. She’s known to occasionally miss social cues, and is a little too eager to talk about herself. Or anything, for that matter, if she feels it might bring her closer to making a friend. While she makes herself appear to be full of personality, the right questions (and the resulting lack of answers) reveal that the girl is lacking in substance and general life experience. As it turns out, living in the lap of luxury can cause a child to be a little out of touch with reality. It seems that she may need some help to catch up in those areas.

HISTORY
Life started off very well for Emi Ryoko Tachibana. Born as the only daughter of an electronics CEO and his trophy wife, Emi spent much of her early years as a young jetsetter. Rarely in one place for too long, the family enjoyed every material want they could desire. If the child had been a bit older, it might have been everything she wanted and more. But alas, humans are social by nature, and constantly travelling made it very hard to find and keep friends, especially when their status meant staying far away from the ‘common folk’. She entertained herself as best as she could – playing with new (and expensive) toys, meeting ‘the help’, and watching more than her fair share of videos online.
Things became a little complicated once Emi’s quirk manifested. Creating salt was a fairly harmless power for a child to have, and without her using it, nobody could ever tell that the girl had a gift. That wasn’t enough for the Tachibanas; the risk of her accidently revealing what they saw as a curse would be a PR disaster. And so the girl was effectively put under house arrest – grounded in a Tokyo mansion. Still, it wasn’t a terrible life to live. She had a large house to herself, and any object she desired only had to be asked for. There was only so much inanimate objects could satisfy the girl, however. She had no friends to share the home with, and besides occasional visits from her parents, the only faces she knew were the housemaids and her home-school teachers (all sworn to secrecy when it came to her talent). Nobody was brave enough to publicise themselves as a quirk teacher, and so she had to learn to control her power through trial and error.
And so, like many deprived children, she turned to the internet. Anime, streamers, movies and Let’s Plays were a poor substitute for a lack of social experience, but it was the best she had. Without her even realising it, she settled into a routine. The day started with classes, then keeping up with her favourite shows, and then quirk practice while watching news on the dreaded quirk-users. It was difficult for her to reconcile her parents’ views with her own - there were a lot of villains, the child noticed, but there were even more ‘heroes’, weren’t there? They weren’t legal, perhaps, but even her housekeepers couldn’t deny that they were doing good things. But no, quirks were bad, and that was that, and so she remained under house arrest.
As the girl grew, she found new ways to expand her horizons. Video games were plenty of fun, and she could even play with other people! And if you recorded yourself playing games, people might come and watch! So began Emi’s streaming career as Ryōkoko! (良子ここ, ‘Ryōko’s here’). Of course, nobody was particularly interested in watching an eight-year-old attempt to tell stories while getting destroyed in a game, but with time and determination, she could only improve. Her parents were more than happy to endorse her new hobby – it kept her busy and happy, and it was much harder for her to reveal her secret through a screen. So long as she ensured that she would not talk about her quirk and didn’t make it blatantly obvious where her heritage lay, she was allowed to continue and given the equipment she needed to improve.
Over the next several years, things could only improve. Her quirk and its limited were learned and pushed in the comfort of her own home, and between that, her studies and her ‘career’, she had plenty to keep herself busy. Having proved she wouldn’t expel salt as soon as somebody looked at hr funny, she was slowly but surely taken with her family on their trips and parties again. The new variety in her life only helped her as she moved to vlogging – she suddenly had so much more to talk about!
With more experience, better skills and a pretty face to match, Emi began to earn a following just as she hit puberty, talking about the life of luxury, playing games and generally being a charming young girl. It was a fair trade in her eyes – her viewers could live vicariously through her, and she received the attention and ‘friends’ she so desperately craved. By age sixteen, she had a sizable fanbase, which meant it was time for everything to go downhill.
Emi had been travelling alone through Tokyo’s streets. Some chaos – perhaps from other quirk users – had caused rocks and debris to fall from a building. If she hadn’t created a large crystal to redirect the rubble, she could have sustained a serious head injury. Quick thinking allowed her to escape unharmed, but in one move she had earned the scorn of onlookers. One of them had recorded the whole thing. If she hadn’t had such a distinctive look, she might have been able to ignore the rumours and let them die out. Unfortunately, pink hair and golden eyes were hard to miss, and so the secret was out. Most of her fans were quick to turn on her, and her fellow vlogger friends disowned her before she could even get a reply out. If she didn’t put in some serious damage control, years of hard work were going to go down the drain.
What else could she do but own it? She confirmed the rumours, and explained why she had to hide a part of herself. She told those few that would listen that the persecution of quirk-users was just the latest in a long line of discriminated minorities, and that she knew she would never be given a chance if the truth was public. She didn’t ask to be forgiven, for she knew most wouldn’t care to hear it. Instead, she resolved to do better by her fans, she told her (furious) parents that she had a way to turn this around.
The very next day, the thumbnail of her video showed her and a U.A. application form. She was going to chronicle the life of a young quirk user at a revolutionary school, showing the trials of tribulations of being different, but mainly how things were mostly the same. Given how new the school and its concept was, she was confident that it had never been done before. Most of her following had already written her off as a dirty quirk user, but she wasn’t going to beg for them back. In time, she believed, they would come around to see her way, and everybody else would realise quirk users weren’t so scary after all. With heroes like Umbra and Darkshine making the rounds, she could even graduate as an idol pro!
Oh, and there was the part where she’d have to fight, but that would be easy too. Right?
