The actual scenario area was pretty simple. It was a nice little field with a small hut that was constructed in the middle, with each side starting roughly fifty meters away from the hut in either direction. The delinquent had installed some smoke bombs throughout the field and was holding the remote control to activate them in his hand. The school had gotten him some fancy toys, and some of them were really cool. This was the first test run for him, to see how well everything worked and whether capturing these outdoors type missions was feasible. He had a basic drone up in the air with a camera to capture the action, and as long as nobody in the simulation turned out to have some secret speedster skills it should be able to capture at least most of the conflict just fine alongside a few smaller mini cameras tucked away in the hut in the middle. There were two teams for this exercise, a hero team and a villain team, and each person had a specific role. For the hero team, he had a newer student named Emi playing the role of combat hero. She had what she called ‘crystal manipulation’ which Alex could only assume meant that she could do something with crystals that was useful. Her job, made clear in the text that was sent, was specifically to engage in combat with any villains she encountered and to keep them from harming the ‘rescue targets’ as well as her rescue hero. Her goal wasn’t to win, though of course that would be nice, just to do well enough to make sure her team got to their win condition of saving two out of the three mannequins and bringing them to the rescue area. The rescue area was essentially going to be their starting area and was marked in purple spray paint pretty clearly. Once a mannequin was past that point, they were considered saved if they were not injured too severely. The other member of the hero team for this exercise was going to be Chise, who had one hell of a weird ass quirk. If the American read the description right, she kissed people to steal their voice. Freaky, but also not the most useful in a combat situation. She was, a member of Support Studies, put in the position of a rescue hero. Her primary goal was to be the rescue of all of the mannequins in the hut in the middle of the field and primarily let her combat hero partner do most if not all of the combat. He had debated making some more rules to more clearly define the roles but figured that was enough for a first trial for a hero team. Emi was a hero course student and was to do the fighting, and Chise was a support studies student and was to do the saving. Only one mannequin was in an instantly obvious place, so the rescue hero would also have to quickly think under pressure to find the other two while the battle raged on around her. It would be interesting to see, because if the sole villain could actually fight half as well as he could insult people he should be a pretty solid combatant. Akio was the sole villain, because despite not mentioning the number of students playing the villain side to either of the heroes in their instructions… he wasn’t a total jerk. Emi was new, and Chise was a support studies student. The redheaded giant was a perfect fit in a scenario like this, the American figured, because it was hard to dispute that a mannequin was destroyed when they were literally half-melted. The mannequins were deliberately made with a thinner plastic exterior that was easier to burn, and in the villain message with the initial instructions he was specifically told to burn in order to confirm ‘kills’ on the rescue targets. The villain starting line was marked with red spray paint and was equally as clear as the hero starting point. The villain side as well was not given the number of enemies he was to encounter, so both sides essentially just knew that there were three mannequins in the small hut in the middle of the field that they would be fighting over. From the distance they were at, it seemed to be a one story wooden building that was of disputable quality. On Akio’s side, he would see an open window that was rather enormous. It was big enough for him to fit through, certainly. On the hero team’s side, they would instead see a smaller window where one of them could possibly fit through as well as a closed door. The rest of the field around the hut held nothing dangerous, because the smoke was harmless and the shell of the things was very soft plastic so even if they were stepped on nothing bad would happen or anything. It was all very safe, or as safe as the delinquent could realistically manage anyway. For Alex’s part, he was on the far side of the scenario, roughly sixty meters away to the west of the building. He had set up two wooden stakes and a hammock he was currently lying down on and swinging back and forth leisurely on. He had his phone in one hand, that he could swap camera feeds on with a tap of his finger as well as the remote control for the smoke. Both sides were told that the ‘Start’ signal would be the popping off of smoke and were all told very specifically to try and avoid smashing the cameras and attacking the drone. If it happened in the heat of the moment, sure, but no intentional destruction of the expensive stuff. The hut itself and everything inside of it except for the cameras in the corners, however, was fair game and could be destroyed at will. Anything made of wood was legal, in other words.

Emi was a hero-in-training. She was determined to knock the latter two words off her title, and taking a few extra classes could only help her accomplish that. It was that train of thought that had led her to sign up for some stranger’s idea of extra credit, and stopped her from backing out of it. So why was she feeling so nervous? Well, when she had signed up for Hero Ops, she had hoped and prayed that their first exercise would cover rescue, or planning, or branding, or anything except combat. She was smart enough to strategize (and not afraid to show it), but her combat experience was close to none. The sheltered life didn’t offer many opportunities to fight, after all.
The ‘Alex’ boy didn’t know or care, and pride stopped her from trying to find out which was which. And so she had ended up in Ground Alpha, as a combat hero with questionable combat skills. Some might argue that it was as good a place as any to start learning, but she would counter that there were ways for her to learn without some strangers watching her get her ass kicked. She couldn’t say what any of them were, but she knew there was a way. Until she figured out how, she was at his mercy.
“I hope you know what you’re doing.” Emi was rarely the type to let her nerves show, but she was also rarely the type to throw herself into a hostile situation. “Name’s Emi Ryoko Tachibana. Hero name: Halo. I make stuff out of crystals. Mostly pointy things that fly at people.” A quirk with good combat potential, though its wielder was the bigger problem than the power. “What about you? How’re you going to get those dummies out of there? And how can I help with that? Besides keeping the enemies off you, I guess.” Another anomaly – those few that knew Emi knew that she was the first to try and take charge. To hear her hand the reigns over to her partner meant that she was out of her element, she acknowledged it, and she was willing to swallow her pride if it helped that. “I mean… I’m guessing you’ve done a few of these before, but I’m pretty new here. If you’ve got any tips, now’s a good time to share them.”
She’d come dressed for the occasion, at least. While she’d yet to get a proper outfit, she was getting plenty of mileage out of her Halloween costume, custom-ordered to fit (and compliment) her. In fact, she’d done a good job of keeping the worry off her face, and looked an awful lot like the confident heroine she hoped to be. Could she say the same for her partner?

Chise had thought the idea of some extra training to be a smart idea, since it was offered to all students, why not try it out and see if she could improve her status as a hero in training. Sure, she would probably be surrounded by most of the hero course students, but she had to toughen up if she ever wished to prove to them that despite being in the support studies class, she could be a hero just like them! The only thing she failed to see was who was in charge of this little exercise...Alex Deraine. Her and Alex weren't on good terms since the first time they had met, having received multiple small scratches and a few gashes from having knocked over a ceramic pot due to a ball the latter had thrown inside the dorms. She hoped she didn't have to see him, she would rather not see his shallow personality and fake smile again.
Chise walked into her designated base wearing her hero costume: a skin tight black body suit with cute out black gloves and combat boots. She was quite content with her costume, most definitely aiding in its simplicity and chic design for any espionage mission. A hero costume didn't have to be over the top, but it had to relate to your quirk in some way, that's the ideology that Chise thought. As Chise entered her base, she noticed a girl with apricot colored hair standing there with a thoughtful expression on her face as she looked down at the ground. She didn't recognize the girl, she was probably from one of the hero classes. Hopefully they would be able to work together with minimal problems. Chise looked over at the other, hearing her speak up and say she hoped Chise knew what she was doing. Sure, the support studies class didn't have as much exposure to rescue missions as the hero studies courses did, but she didn't think it would hinder her too much. Realizing she had been silent this entire time, Chise frantically spoke up, "A-Ah yes...well I can't say I have as much experience as you...but I will try my best," she spoke before the other introduced herself. "Chise Ishihara. Support Studies Class. Hero name: Lyre. I can copy the voice of any person through means of l-lip contact. So yes...kissing them essentially," the peach haired girl explained, stuttering a bit at the end. She hoped she could be of assistance to the other.
Hearing what the other had to say next frightened the girl a bit. She was new? So that meant she hadn't had training like this before? They might be in a bit of a pickle after all. Chise shook her head before looking over at Emi again, "E-Even though we don't have much experience, we should at least figure out a plan of action before going in there and loosing right off the bat. Your quirk is more offensive, so it makes sense that you be on guard and take care of the 'villain' while I rescue the training dummies. I do have experience with martial arts so if need be, I can take care of myself if the villain and I cross paths," Chise explained to the other, hoping that making a plan would help them in the long run. This would definitely be interesting for sure.

His first real hero exercise at the school and it was being run by Alex of all people I really didn't expect my first actual hero exercise to be run by Alex, but at least it shows he's committed to his promise of making 1-C the best Akio thought to himself as he entered his little base/waiting area, he was the villain in this exercise, the sole villain of this exercise. He threw a gym bag onto the floor and started to get changed into his outfit for the exercise, which was just the school's gym outfit plus a jacket. Once he was dressed he put on some headphones, plugged it into his phone and started playing some music while warming up, this was his typical warm up whenever he played basketball and it always gets him focused so he decided to use it for this exercise as well, as he was warming up he started developing a plan in his head So I've got to destroy 2/3 dummies before the hero team can save them, I don't know how many people are on the hero team which makes this even more difficult, it also means I've gotta go on the offensive straight away and make THEM act defensively and gain control of the situation quickly, the only problem is I don't know WHO I'm up against, so that could prove difficult depending on who I'm facing, if they're strong or have a strong quirk I could be in trouble, I've just gotta do what G taught me, follow the plan I just set and work as hard as I can and it should see me through he thought to himself as he continued his warm up, doing some stretches and some light jogging back and forth in his little waiting area to limber himself up, he took his headphones off and put them and his phone in his gym bag so that he could go as soon as Alex gave the starting signal Speaking of the starting signal, what is it going to be? I guess I'll know it when I hear it he thought to himself as he finished up his stretches.

Oh, great. It looked like the contestants had arrived for the show. All three volunteers stood next to their starting line and awaited the starting signal, so the delinquent went ahead and pressed the button on his remote control after one more quick confirmation that everyone was where they were supposed to be. He made sure to give the hero team especially a short time to discuss any possible tactics if they haven’t already but didn’t want to have them gawking at each other all day. Akio was all by himself, after all, and his own path got harder with every delay that allowed the hero team to strategize. The red-haired boy may not be Alex’s favorite, but he wasn’t going to intentionally fuck him over. On the contrary, this course suited Akio more than anyone else that was currently participating. Once the button was pressed, the delinquent lazily tossed the remote control to the ground beside him and watched the smoke all billow up at once around the entire field. The smoke wasn’t military grade or anything, but it was enough to really fuck up any long range to mid-range visibility. It was enough visual fuckery that the hero team almost certainly wouldn’t be able to see Akio until they were in the building itself and in forced close quarters. That was where this entire thing really got interesting, because it would be a clusterfuck where it would be almost impossible for both teams to avoid each other. It was giving Akio an intentional chance to shine, in other words, and see how he did when the scenario was essentially crafted to favor him against a new hero course student and a support studies girl. Chise was actually the number seven ranked student in the first ranking, so it was possible he was underestimating her ability to contribute to the combat. If that was the case, he would give her a turn to play combat hero if she wanted to for any later simulations. His classmate had droned on and on to anyone who would listen about his intense training regimen after a villain tossed his giant ass in the emergency room via blunt force trauma… so this was his chance to show against the number seven ranked student and a newbie how well that training was working. The method of approach for both teams was fairly obvious, but once they were inside things got pretty interesting. From Akio’s side of coming in through the big window, he would immediately be greeted with a wooden ladder knocked over on its side to his right. If he looked up at the ceiling at that point, he would be able to see a latch that he would be able to pull open to reveal an opening that led to a largely hidden attic. He would also see a wooden wall to his left that had a clear opening to another room, with something covered up with a big white cloth being obvious from his angle. The heroes had it a little bit rougher, with nothing obvious being on their left and a look to the right that would yield no useful information unless one was looking very carefully. If they were perceptive, they would be able to see that part of the floor was raised up, and if they looked and focused on the right spot they would see the trap door fairly quickly in the other room. The wall that separated both rooms was flimsy, so flimsy that any of the participants could lower their shoulder and bust through if they recognized that possibility. Both sides would notice two areas at the far east and far west of the house if they paid attention that was made of the same flimsy sort of wood. These were essentially windows that were covered over with very thin and destructible wood that could be used by a clever student who recognized the visual difference and found a way to exploit it. The attic, with the obvious access of course being the ladder, had two exits and an obvious mannequin at the end of the room almost directly above the hero entrance point. One of those exits was immediately to the right of the hero starting area in the ceiling which would lead to an easy escape path. This exit would not be immediately obvious, but a very good scan by a very perceptive person could pick it up before making it up to the attic. The cloth in the other room that the villain side would be able to see immediately covers a bare bed frame which has a mannequin underneath it into a corner. Either the bedframe would have to be destroyed to get to the mannequin, or someone would have to crawl under it in order to pull the rescue target out. There was an exit route very close to this dummy as well. The last mannequin would be in the basement area, with only one entrance and exit, making it extremely risky. The location of the mannequin in this room is toward the end, but the mannequin is standing up vertically to make its position completely obvious. The entrance to the basement was the last one that the villain team would see, but it was also the most dangerous because there was no immediately exit once the mannequin was in hand and the escape route could be blocked. Emi, if she came down there, could probably smash through the wooden ceiling above her with her quirk to make a makeshift escape route, but she was the only one he thought had a chance of doing that with any real success. The hero team needed to save two in order to win, and the villain team needed to destroy two in order to do the same. The course was designed to be more of a combat heavy one that would really allow Alex and any teachers who wanted to look at the footage later really assess where the participants fell in that regard. There was one small camera in the corner of each room in the building, which would hopefully catch at least most of the action once the fight moved indoors. The quality of the structure was not the greatest, but it served its purpose. It was the first building that Alex had created for his new club, but hopefully would not be the last. The ways I outlined are not the only ways you could do this. There are other creative ways you could do it, I just ran out of space for more ideas. The link to the house outline is hereThe start, to be clear, is not immediately after the last post and should be taken as a the match starts at the end of your next post' sort of thing. My next few days are hectic so getting in early rather than late!

Post by Emi Ryoko Tachibana on Dec 1, 2018 15:50:14 GMT -4
Kissing. That was what she had to work with. In the past week alone, she’d met boys that could summon flames or spears out of nothing, and monstrous women that could manhandle the worst thugs. So of course, when she actually needed a useful quirk to work with, the world gave her Chise. She fixed a deadpan stare on the girl, trying to make sure that she was serious. When that (presumably) failed to get her to burst out laughing, she looked around their arena. Alex had an eye in the sky watching them, so presumably, he also had a hidden camera somewhere nearby, and any moment now the two would tell her she’d been pranked.
…No? Emi let out a sigh. A blow to her partner’s morale would do nothing to salvage the situation, which was the only reason why she hadn’t started insulting the girl right away. Seriously though, how was she going to save lives by changing her voice? Definitely a Support Studies-tier quirk, in her mind – ‘The Help’ of the upcoming hero industry. “…Alright. Just so we’re clear, you’re not using that on me. I’m not a lesbian, and I don’t plan to start being one today.” Thankfully, the girl seemed too meek to try and force anything on her. By contrast, Emi was doing a fairly good job of faking confident, if one judged by her body language alone. In her mind, it could only help them if at least one of the pair looked like they had faith in themselves.
She may have been slowly dismissing the girl in her head, but Emi couldn’t deny that there was a lot to be concerned about. When it came to hero work, she considered planning and preparation her strongest suits, but the exercise didn’t leave much for either, as far as she could see. There was little she could prepare for when their destination was practically unknown and well out of her quirk’s range. Their enemy and their number were mysteries. She understood that it was all meant to simulate a ‘real’ rescue mission, but for a first exercise, she couldn’t help but feel Alex could have gone a little easier on them.
Then again, by all accounts, he was a little bit of an asshole. Part of her with she’d heard the rumours before she signed up.
Complaining wasn’t going to do them any good, though! She gave their stage another glance. “That house doesn’t look too small. Two floors, don’t you think? If I can keep them distracted on one floor, you can search the other.” Optimistic thinking, assuming that she could even handle one villain. “I guess… The rules don’t say anything about keeping the building intact. Worst case scenario, we-“ She paused, furrowing her brow. She knew with a bit of effort, her quirk could break through wood, but Chise’s quirk was useless to her highly impractical for their job. “…I, can make an emergency exit. Yeah, that might have t be how we play this, unless you have any better ideas.”
It was haphazard at best, but it was all she could think of, until… She looked the girl up and down again, clearly judging with her gaze. “You said you’re good with your hands, right?” She had a few doubts about that – let’s face it, Chise looked like the least physically fit student in the school – but it was the only skill the girl claimed to have. “That might be good for defending yourself, but when you need to carry a mannequin too…”
She held an open palm out in front of her. What appeared to be a galactic spiral of white grains grew above her hand. Without seconds, the dots had clumped and merged together, forming some sort of oversized shallow bowl. Hopefully its function became clearer as a pair of handles grew out of it. “It’s not much, but you’ll need something to block with if you end up under fire, right?” The shield floated over to the redhead’s side. Slightly larger than the girl’s forearm in diameter, the shield could slip her arm through one handle and hold onto the other. Being mostly made of one ‘crystal’ and with a little focus, she’d managed to keep the construct translucent, so Chise wasn’t completely blind as soon as she had to defend herself.
“Anything else you need, just shout and I’ll do my best to help. Platforms, bigger shields, weapons, I can make it as long as you’re nearby. Just not too many of them, unless I find some fuel.” Another pause, shorter this time. “It’s salt, by the way. Salt crystals. So it’s unlikely, but if you find a fridge… Or any, like, soaps or something, let me know.” She knew it sounded ridiculous, but explaining the inner workings of her quirk would take longer than they had. Indeed, before she could give it a try, the hiss of multiple smoke bombs gave her heart pause. It was go time.
She was off. If Chise chose not to take her shield, she would carry it with her, but either way Emi was sprinting towards the hut. Well, where she had seen the hut before – she’d known there would be fog involved, but she hadn’t counted on it blinding them. She had to rely on her ears, listening for her partner’s footsteps, and especially for any other pairs headed their way. “Try to stay close until we can see. Watch your back… And good luck.”
Something told her they were going to need it.

As she finished explaining what her quirk was and a bit of what she was capable of, she looked over to the other, seeing the blank stare on her face. Did the pinkette expect Chise to say more than she had? Most of her other talents wouldn't come in use for a mission like this so she decided to omit them. It was after a few moments of silence that the girl Emi spoke up, stating that she wasn't a lesbian and there was no way she would let Chise use her quirk on her. Oh...she was one of those types of people. Just like the bullies she faced in middle school. Her comment was totally out of line, there was no need to bring sexuality into a situation where she was just telling the other about her quirk. She was stronger than she was before, she wasn't going to let her words hurt her. "I had no intention of using my quirk on you in the first place. There's no need to get hostile in a situation where we are supposed to help one another. I'm your teammate, not the enemy," Chise said, her expression serious as she spoke her mind to the other. She had to be the bigger person here. Whether the other wanted to work with her or not, these were the cards that were dealt to them. They had no other choice than to follow them. She wasn't even going to bring up the fact that she had a boyfriend and that she was in no way attracted to girls in the first place.
Chise looked through one of the base's windows to the small house in the center of the field. If this was a test, it wasn't smart to think they would settle for the obvious. "From the outside it may appear that way, but the house could have a basement or lower shelter of sorts that isn't visible from looking at the house as a whole. I doubt they would hide two dummies on the same floor, it would be almost too easy for one team to win assuming that," Chise spoke up, the fog would be the trickiest part to get through it seemed. Hopefully the house interior was not also engulfed in fog from the field. Chise listened to Emi, hearing her say that they both could...oh she took it back. They shouldn't assume the obvious, Alex wouldn't make this challenge easy now, it didn't seem like something he' do. She pushed the other's comment aside, it wasn't worth it to retaliate over something silly.
Chise looked back to Emi, hearing her ask if she was good with her hands. "Martial arts isn't solely about using your hands but essentially yes I am skilled with my hands," Chise responded, watching as Emi opened her hands, bits of semi-clear material forming in her palms. Was she trying to make something with her quirk? After a few moments, the clump of small clear beads came together, forming what appeared to be a shield of sorts. Wouldn't carrying a shield be a hinderance in carrying? It wasn't that the mannequins would be lying out in plain sight for them to take. They would probably be hidden in high and low corners of the house alike. "I suppose in theory yes, but if you're handling the villain, that should keep them distracted and not worried about me," Chise told Emi. If anything, this would be something the pinkette needed more than Chise. The redhead picked the shield up, testing to see it's properties. It was a bit heavy, not a high grade shield but it seemed like something that would just get in her way. "You might need this more than me if you're facing the enemy head on," Chise said, handing the shield back to Emi.
Listening to Emi say she'd make anything Chise needed, the peach haired girl nodded in response. They didn't have much time before the battle started. Emi would take care of the villain while she went and found the mannequins. Seemed like a simple plan. Emi also mentioned that her quirk revolved around salt, that's what she made her objects out of. "Alright...I'll let you know if I find anything in the house," Chise said, responding to Emi's comment about her quirk. Soon enough, the door to their base opened, revealing the thick field of smoke to them. It was now or never, they had a job to do. "Same to you," Chise said with a confident smile at the other before following after the other, charging to the hut in the middle.
