But remember from here on in, History has its eyes on you. Akihabara was far more than a regular train station in Chiyoda, Tokyo. What had long ago been an center for electronic goods and post-war goods and necessities had become the heart of local "otaku" culture; a sacred ground of maid cafes, book and manga stores, game shops, and endlessly bright and colorful scenery that made even the most pompous individual wince at times. Tsutsuji Hachi was far from pompous, although it was impossible for her to claim that she was subdued. When one was a six-foot-six tall bee woman you were hard-pressed to blend into a crowd easily. So despite her personality not quite meshing with the loud, cheerful culture of Akihabara, physically she fit in fine.
Of course she was not here simply to sight-see. The list for the formal internship class had been finalized, and with it, Tsutsuji Hachi had sent out emails to the students she believed best suited her style--that being those with high mobility skills, be it through flight, jumping to extreme heights, or through other means of throwing themselves recklessly through the air.
The first choice had been fairly obvious as there were only so many students with wings in the school; Sarami Angelica had a Quirk befitting her name, with wings like the biblical beings themselves, and a reputation for being generally positive and friendly. Hachi did not know her personally but had seen her in flight once or twice on campus. It would be interesting to see if her larger wings could keep up with Hachi's smaller set.
The second was somewhat unusual, in that the Quirk itself felt like something out of a game; Feng Yao was a bright, bull-headed girl with legs literally made like springs, capable of leaping several stories high and quite far across. The question was not how she would keep pace with her flying allies, but rather if she would, given how high she would be jumping from rooftop to rooftop. She could fall if she missed a jump. Hachi was confident that she could catch her, but if she didn't feel comfortable with that regardless, Hachi was willing to stay within the shorter buildings of the district.
At least until her confidence was higher.
The third was ironic in a way. Not too long ago had she spoken of the girl in question to Hajimari Miku, and now she was in a position to actually know her rather than just speak of her in secret. Tasukai Yumi, a manipulator of electricity, may not have seemed like the right choice for a team so focused on aerial movement. However through training she had taught herself to create bursts of energy that gave her enough propulsion to take off, simulating, if not achieving outright, flight. It required ground beneath her similarly to Feng, so once more the possibility of her falling from a great high was there. For some reason, though, she didn't believe Yumi would admit to being unnerved by that prospect. Junko had painted quite the interesting picture of the girl.
There was another reason she had taken Yumi on, though. While her parents were known and there was literally no chance of relation, her Quirk was simply too much like Hachi's own mentor for her to let slip by. She wanted the chance to get to know all of the girls on this make-shift team, and to see all of them in action. But seeing somebody using electricity, just as Solenn had...
She wasn't sure if the feeling was one of joy, or of pain.
Standing atop one of the more gaudy arcades, Hachi waited, dressed in her full hero attire. She had told her students where she would be and what time to meet her--mid-afternoon, with plenty of time before dark.
She had not, however, mentioned how to reach her, given that there was no roof access and the arcade was seven stories high. The neighboring buildings were the same height or higher, with a parking garage across the street offering roof access, and balconies along the buildings besides them offering points to jump from.
It was a small test, but one perfect for observing them.

A ngel had never been so excited in her entire life! She was getting to work alongside a pro-hero by the name of Yellow Jacket with two of her classmates named Feng and Yumi. That wasn't the exciting part however! The truly exciting part was that not only did she get to wear her hero suit in public for the first time, but she was allowed to use her wings in public as well! To that end Angel and her team mates were given a challenge. They were told to find the arcade that Yellow Jacket stood atop of and reach her on top of said 7 story building! The challenge didn't discourage the Angel of Mercy even though it was just slightly out of her altitude range! This was because Angel was a champ when it came to Lateral and creative thinking. She much like who she assumed her mentor saw the world on the literal lateral axis like it was a table top roleplaying game instead of how everyone else saw it from the ground up. She was given a task and she was going to complete it! Angel as soon as she received the address got dressed in her hero suit and grabbed her trusty weapon the Triple P and took to the air as high as she could which was 52 American feet. Once she spotted the rather ugly arcade she stopped and hovered in mid air while spinning her weapon by it's handle. She was two stories shy of her goal, but if her plan worked it wouldn't matter. "Man I hope this works!"Once Angel was done doing a few mid air stretches she flipped the second switch on the handle of her weapon causing the tip of the dome to slide aside so that the long sharp blade extended out. Once that was done she tossed her weapon into her dominant left hand and took off at top speed toward the building with her left arm extended. The plan was simple use the momentum of straight forward flight to stab the blade of her weapon into the building. Once that was done she planted her feet as hard as she could leaving small cracks in the exterior. She then would use the strength in her dominant arm,her feet and her wings to pull down on her weapon while flapping her wings downward to spring launch herself upward toward her goal. As she launched herself into the air Angel wrapped her wings around her body and began to spin like a drill as she often did for her divine drill attack to protect her from the wind backlash. As she reached the top of the building she spread out her wings hard and fast to bring herself to a stop as she landed down a bit hard in front of Yellow Jacket once again flipping the second switch to once again hide the blade. "I am so glad that worked! Angel Surami at your service Yellow Jacket Ma'me! Hero name Angel of Mercy!"Angel then took her left wing and used it as a cape as she bowed like a knight to her mentor hoping she had made a good first impression.

Well this was…something. Yumi had been expecting to find a roof exit when she was told to meet Hachi on the roof, but she’d made it to the 7th floor and much to her surprise…nothing. She asked around, getting a few odd looks for wearing her hero costume all the way up on the building’s 7th floor, but seemed to have a nice reception as she walked out back through the arcade. She felt Hachi likely picked this place for the fact it had a lot of otaku culture, so seeing someone walk around in a costume, effectively super hero cosplay, wasn’t too uncommon, and no one would really ask too many questions either. She’d even been asked to pose for a picture on the way back out, which was really sweet.~
Once back outside, she turned to the building, huffing a little with puffy cheeks as she looked up to it. The rules of internships where you weren’t allowed to use your quirks without direct supervison, and she wasn’t even sure Hachi was actually up there…was this a test? Probably. She couldn’t be certain but it definitely felt like it. When she’d heard who the other interns where it was a lot of very mobile people as far as she understood so it only made sense they could fly up, BUT, Yumi believed it more likely she was testing to see if they’d break the rules to do it. Hmmm…
She was rubbing her chin idly when the crowd around her gave a little gasp and she felt a sudden breeze flow through the crowd. Looking about, Yumi watched Angel start to rise towards the air. Right. That was one rule breaker right there…buuuut at the same time, Hachi being up there, she’d know there was no way up there, so unless she was planning to come and find the kids randomly in the crowd there wasn’t much Yumi could do other than fly up herself….
She swivelled a small electro proof ‘fanny pack’ that was normally resting around rear to her front. Pulling out a tiny flipbook, a new memory technique she was using to try and remember people’s name’s better, she flicked past several pages of her scribbling down the names of several new students to get them into her memory, then took the small pen stuck in the rungs of the flip book’s pages, and wrote down simply.
‘This is a test on breaking the rules, I called it.’
It wasn’t much, ultimately she’d still have to break the rules, but she wanted at least some evidence she totally called this in advance if it ended up being the case. Stepping back from the arcade a little, her body would just very gently spark, static jolts running through the people around her. Nothing serious, but enough to get to jolt and move a safe distance away from her, a harsher spark emitting from her in the now empty space she’d created as her entire body took on a blue energy sheen across it, the light blue trails of her costume burning a brighter shade.
“Sorry guys, hero in training here.” She waved a little to the crowd, a few of the more ‘otaku’ looking types taking photos with their phone. She lowered down and burst up with a leap, her electrical streams shooting off the ground around her. She tried for one big shove off the ground at first, not wanting her electrical streams to get anyone beneath her as she hovered, flipping about in midair and ‘landing’ with her back to the arcade building about the second floor. Looking over the crowd, she hadn’t hurt anyone, and now her electrical streams were arcing against the building behind her rather than civilians beneath her. Good start.
Looking up at the climb above her, she was hardly intimidated. She’d been much higher before and in much…deadlier situations, thanks to Darren. Not only that but her quirk may have needed to push off surfaces, but she could scale walls no problem. Wanting to get up their fast, she shifted herself to face the arcade, and began to zig zag rapidly up the building, sending out an opposing charge to her current one and running along the stream it created. To the eyes below she was difficult to keep up with, and sooner rather than later, she broke over the edge of the rooftop, her body flipping a few times before landing well, her body low, throwing her arms up in a dramatic fashion before flowing into an elegent, if dramatic bow.
“Curved lightning, at your service Miss.~”

This is bad, this is real bad, the worst thing that could ever happen and on the day of internships no less. What could be the problem that befalls Feng on a day like this? Rewinding the day back to the morning where everything was normal and Feng went to check her mail to find the place to meet up with Hachi, she read each word carefully to lo and behold said where to meet her but never specified the area of interest. It could be that or the fact that see may have overlooked the part where it said the meet up place but after the fact, she was nervous about being late on a day such as this. Her parents always were the ones to emphasize punctuality when comes to things like this. But she eventually find the part that showed the meet up point which calmed her nerves.
Feng attempted to nap it off in an attempt to calm down only to realize she overslept and she has a little over two hours to get to the meet up point, which is in Akihabara. Knowing how trains are at this hour and traffic, she decided the best way to get there is to do is run and ride atop a train. She ran greater distances but on such short notice is going to be a challenge, and she is limited on time so this reckless idea was made up on the spot. She quickly put on her hero outfit, made sure she had all her important items on them and left the dorm in a blur.
Her mind is in a panic and her anxiety is rising. The last thing she wants on a day like this. But she persevered and ran with her all the way to place. Going to several familiar streets and seeing several landmarks she sees often while on her runs, she is using her phone to make sure that she is going the right direction. She made her way to the train station only to see it about to leave, in a blur she quickly used her quirk to jump to the roof of the train and ride atop of it. To the devils luck, no one noticed her while it made its way to its destination. Looking at the passing city through her orange goggles, a time of rest before she can rush again.
Given its internships, she may have some allowance to use her quirk but in her panic she went all out and made the mad dash to famed area of electronics and entertainment. Which brings us back to here where we can see Feng in full hero regalia hopping roof top to roof top, making sure to not cause any noise to the denizens below. It was a playground for her quirk, each jump gave her a glimpse of the city she is living in with a whole new perspective, if she weren’t in a rush right now a few pictures would be taken for the family back home.
She took short breaths in between jumps as she made her way to the building where she can see Hachi in plain view and with her Angel and Yumi arriving who have arrived before her. Feng cursed herself for being last one there and went to their general direction, she made one more jump to the roof and landed next to the group, hiding the fact that she rushed all the way over here. One could see it as flashy, another could see it as reckless, but she made an entrance either way. She looked up to the hero named Yellow Jacket and introduced herself formally with energy to spare.
“Typhoon Dragoon, reporting in !”

But remember from here on in, History has its eyes on you. There wasn't too much time to wait between Hachi's arrival and the appearance of one of her students. The first one she saw approaching the arcade, by foot, was a shock (haha) of red hair and an outfit that--while not too out of place in Akihabara--was recognizable as one of U.A's student-commissioned hero costumes. The midriff was an interesting choice. Tasukai Yumi entered the arcade and Hachi hummed quietly in amusement. She had gone for the logical expectation. A good start.
A little while later when she reappeared outside of the arcade Hachi let out a small chortle. She was looking up at the rooftop, and, although her expression was unreadable at this distance, likely questioning herself.
The second student arrived in a far less optimal fashion. Hachi saw the approaching flyer as she flew in a few stories too low to clear the building. However, seeing her fly in was displeasing. Whether or not she had flown all the way here from U.A, or if she had taken the train and only started flying at Akihabara itself, she was in violation of the rules right away. She was the first to reach the rooftop--Hachi had expected as such, given her wings--though her use of her parasol-styled weapon for leverage was clever. Clever, but ill-advised.
"Welcome, Surami-kun. Did you fly here from U.A?" Hachi nodded, tone even, indicating as little of her emotions as her alien expression would. How would her students handle a teacher who did not show physical emotions? It was something her class was accustomed to, but her three interns would likely need to adjust.
The smell of ozone made her claws twitch at her side. Ah, Yumi must have figured out that there was no other way to get to the rooftop. As she arrived in all the flair and pomp as Angel had, Hachi nodded once more in greeting. "Welcome, Tasukai-kun. Apologies for the false lead through the arcade. No time was wasted, though. Now we're just waiting for our third to arrive."
Like on cue, there was a sudden blur of movement in the corner of Hachi's eye as Feng Yao leaped from the building besides them to directly at Yumi's side. Another where it was impossible to tell just how much of the journey had been spent with her Quirk in use, but given that she had leaped in from buildings of relative height to this one, she couldn't have started from more than a few blocks away. A few blocks out of Hachi's sight, out of appropriate range for Quirk-use.
Well. That was one out of three. So far, so close.
"And welcome, Yao-kun. From here on out I will be referring to you by your hero names, so be sure you are used to hearing and responding to them. Now." Hachi stood up from the spot she had been seated--atop an air-conditioning unit, her dress kept a safe distance from the rotating fan--and stood at full height above her students, hovering above the ground an additional few inches. She practically towered over them. "Of the three of you, the only one who was not using their Quirk outside of my supervision was Curved Lightning. Typhoon Dragoon, Angel of Mercy, you were both using your Quirks before you were within my sight, entering the block either flying," her head turned to Angel, then to Feng as she continued, "Or leaping from building to building. While I deliberately set this up for you to use your unique Quirks to reach me on the rooftop, and demonstrate to me your abilities, the two of you have already begun your internship by breaking the rules."
"I have enough faith in you to hope that this is not the beginning of a trend, and that from here on, you will be abiding by the restraints of this session. Am I correct?"
She waited for her students' answers before continuing.
"I specifically chose the three of you for what I assume, at least now, to be obvious reasons. My typical patrol route is through flight, as is my approach to police reports and emergencies. Thus, the three of you are well-suited to my style of heroism. However I am interested in hearing how you would describe the use of your Quirk, both for mobility, and in combat or rescue. So before we begin allow me to ask a few questions."
She extended a gloved, clawed hand toward Angel.
"Angel of Mercy, are you capable of carrying another individual from a high location--let us say three or four stories high--to the ground, safely? If yes, how would you hold them physically? If not, how else may you be able to get them out of that situation?"
"Curved Lightning," she motioned, then, to Yumi, "The same situation, that being rescue from a high place, how would you be best suited to assist? Your Quirk, while mobile, seems to require the full use of both your hands as well as projects a dangerous amount of electricity. Are you capable of bringing another human to safety with as minimal harm to them as possible?"
"Typhoon Dragoon," she gestured, finally, to Feng Yao, "Once more; your Quirk requires a harsh physical toll on your body, and if you over-extend yourself you could become more of a liability than an aid. How many individuals do you believe you could rescue before that becomes dangerous to them and to yourself? What would you do to make the best use of your energy?"
Perhaps a pop-quiz right at the start was slightly cruel.

T he silent joy Angel felt upon her team mates arrival was short lived as their mentor went straight to questioning Angel if she had flown all the way from U.A. to the arcade. Not wanting to lie to her mentor Angel rested both her wings flat against her back as if they were a feathery cape before standing up straight and solomly nodding her head with a look of shame on her face. She knew it was against the rules to use their quirks outside of school and in public, but for Angel it was like breathing since her wings unlike other quirks were a physical muscle and bone part of her. "Yes Ma'me I did. I made sure to stay out of sight for the most part though! I just didn't want to be late and I have a bad habit of using them as a shortcut without correcting myself. Much like yourself and Typhoon Dragoon my quirk is a physical part of me so it's difficult not to subconsciously use them. I promise to do better."Despite her truthful admission Angel and her friend and partner Feng still got scolded for using their quirks and breaking the rules by using them without being in their mentor's line of sight. This caused Angel to hang her head for a moment hating the fact that she had already been fussed at even though she had just started. When Yellow Jacket asked her question about how she would safely transport people from a tall building to the ground. This caused Angel to tap her chin as she often did when she was deep in thought until she snapped her right fingers and giving her mentor her trademark big grind. "Honestly Yellow Jacket ma'me I pride myself on being a combat based hero, but I am strong enough to carry a maximum of three young adults or full grown adults. I can cradle two in my arms in a mother like carry and given I had the means to do so I would make some kind of makeshift pouch or strap to safely strap the third individual to my back between my wings so they would have their arms around my neck. I have never done so having like i said been mostly combat centered, but i think my plan would be sound depending on the situation."Angel then looked over to Typhoon Dragoon and Curved Lightning giving them a confident thumbs up with her free right hand to let them know silently that she knew that they could answer their mentor's questions effectively. Feng and herself had a long way to go to impress their mentor, but Angel was determined not to fail

“I knew it!” She couldn’t help it. The words burst out of her lips before she could stop herself. Maybe she had a sliiiightly unfair advantage in this little ‘test’ their teacher had put together, tending to have a natural aversion to using her quirk in public due to the dangers it could present to those around her, but she couldn’t help but take a weird sense of pride in calling this little test. In truth, she hadn’t realized the other two had started using their quirks before they even got into the area, but apparently that was at least enough to be ‘under supervision’, so where Yumi HAD been worrying that it’d still count as breaking the rules since she didn’t give explicit permission, but all the same, she had written her little thing.
In fact-
“Here, look!~” She gave a slightly giddy hop. The pad was small but everyone should be close enough to read it as she showed it around to everyone, the words she’d written just to prove she wasn’t lieing about calling this being a test in advance. Now, of course, they were a lot less useful since she’d ‘passed’ but it still proved that she knew the risks before using her quirk, which she still felt earned her some self recognized brownie points, even if it potentially seemed a tiny bit rude to the two who had ‘failed’ the test. She was just a little too giddy she’d gotten this right.
Soon enough she pocketed her little notepad in her pouch again and straightened up her back, beaming a little brighter due to her good start to the day. Hachi made sure everyone was up to speed, and then started addressing their quirks individually. As she did however, pointing out the potential weaknes of Angel’s quirk and the difficulty she could have lifting out civilians from a rescue situation, Yumi could pretty much predict what was coming for her, and even before Hachi finished asking her question, Yumi’s eyes were a little more downcast, nodding along as if Hachi was stating her weaknesses rather than asking about them, her arms folded across her chest.
She could have just sunk into herself a little here, it was a common reaction for her. Realizing where she was failing due to her own lack of experience or the limitations of her quirk telling her what she had to do rather than what she wanted to do. She wanted to be a rescue hero but…when you buzzed with electricity that wasn’t an option for a fairly obvious reason.
She COULD bum herself out recalling this limitation…but she’d learned a new method to deal with it. She just got a little bit angry with herself. Not much. Not enough that it was fair to consider it ‘unhealthy’, but just enough to motivate herself rather than wallow in defeat. She lifted her head, smiling but with a focused look in her eye. “My quirk’s really limiting in regards to rescuing people if I’m quite honest. But I am working with it. I do fly better with my hands but I can definitely manage slower, controlled flight without them. My hand motions help me focus what I’m doing but I can absolutely control my output without them.” She nodded firmly. Already feeling she conquered one hurdle, however small.
“As for my electricity damaging others, that is always a worry. I know how to control my output so the charge I use to fly wouldn’t damage anyone caught in it, but it’d definitely cause muscle spasms. For a victim of a rescue situation, even something that small could be fatal if they have internal injuries, so it’s not something I’d see myself ever willing to risk…” She took a slow breath through her nose. Just a little bit angry. Don’t get depressed. “But. Because of that, I’ve been working extra hard on my first aid training! I’m not a paramedic or anything, and I’m…lacking, in actual field experience, but I promise I’m really working hard on it. I even know how to use a light application of my electricity to create localized spasms. If I know the patients stable enough I can help jumpstart a heart or even spasm the muscles around their lungs to help purge them of any fluid. It’s…” She felt she was rambling and tried to cut herself off a little. “It’s not perfect but…I’m working with what I have miss.”
With that she rested her hands on her hips, trying to be proud of her progress working around her limitations, rather than focusing on the limitations themselves for a change.

Nothing escapes our instructor, huh? Yellow Jacket has every good reason to scold her for Feng’s use of her quirk. But the sting of those words still hurt and she can’t exactly excuse or justify her reasons. First minute and she already broke the rule, a great start to this internship. She’ll just learn from this mistake and make sure that this won’t happen again, no use in dwelling on this. Though this is a pretty bad start to an internship and in record time. Doesn’t help that Yumi seems to be gloating from this revelation but then again she’d do the same if the reverse happened.
“It will not be a trend Yellow Jacket; I will stick by the rules from here on out. It will not happen again.”
Feng put her hands on her hips as she listened to Yellow Jacket explain her reasons why she chose us and her expectations of what we can do. A lot to keep track off but its simple in the scope of things. We are heroes who fight and rescue people, not dummies, not robots, not cardboard cutouts in a burning building, but actual lives and its daunting to think about. Value of human life is difficult to grasp as someone as young as Feng or anyone at that matter. Blind optimism is something many entering the field have, its what drives them to do good. But it will inevitably lead to ones end if one is too overconfident in their own abilities.
Many are prone to thinking about the positives but the reality of it all weighs heavily on one’s mind when put on the spot. Yellow Jacket asking a question like this is both dirty but also puts a perspective on what it is they’re doing. She takes time to think on her response as the others give their answers; remembering previous lessons that what she did during those exercises. Rushing ahead with a hot-blooded attitude is going to do more harm than good, she can’t save people on passion alone. But how does one answer this question because there is no right or wrong answer to this.
Does she give the optimistic answer and hope that everything will go well? Does she give realistic answer but then fall into despair when it inevitably comes down to a difficult decision that she isn’t prepared for? She can’t lose heart here, but she cannot get overconfident. Compared to Yumi and Angel, her answer could sound half-hearted and it only made her think about it more. ‘To know one’s limits but to also have strength of heart in the face of danger’, that was what her dad always told her whenever she’d push herself too hard.
She takes a deep breath before she gives her answer. Thinking long and hard about her response and her tone.
“For those I can lose, there are others I can yet save. I can’t put down a number of individuals I can save, but it will not stop me from doing what I can. It’s a lot of weight to carry Yellow Jacket and a lot of people are depending on us. The best use of my energy is making sure I protect and save those within my ability. No matter the situation, I will find a way to save them and survive.”
It could be an excuse from any point of view. But Feng is genuinely scared about the weight of human lives are on her shoulders. The fear of failure in saving someone, the fear of being blamed on a lethal mistake. She is confident in her abilities but for how long will it last. Its not impressive but living in fantasy will only put her in danger. Nevertheless, Feng remains determined to become the hero everyone can look up to.

But remember from here on in, History has its eyes on you. "You may begin to do better by not trying to offer me excuses, Surami-kun. If this is a 'habit', then it is one you should have broken last year. See that you do."
Hachi took both girls' apologies--well, one apology, one something she wasn't as sure of--with a nod. Yumi's small exclamation that she had called that the first test was in not breaking the rules wasn't in itself accurate. If it were, Hachi would be lecturing all three of them for getting onto the roof, even if Angelica and Feng had walked all the way to the arcade. Still, it was curious that Yumi was so keen on figuring out what Hachi's plans were, to the point of writing down her suspicions. She was driven. And rubbing dirt in Feng's wounds.
Each student answered her questions in turn. As they spoke, her eyes remained unblinking, staring them down as they spoke, breaking down their responses in her head. Angelica could carry up to three, assuming the third could hold onto her back. However, by her own admittance, she was more focused on combat than she was on rescue operations. This was frustrating, given how important it was to have those capable of reaching high places in such situations that they were needed. Yet Hachi did not speak upon this just yet.
Yumi was well aware of the risks her Quirk held, being raw electrical energy. Even weak shocks and spasms could cause injuries to become aggravated--she recalled this quite well, in her own experiences with lightning. She was still strong enough, and secure in her own abilities if she was careful, to carry less direly injured civilians if she needed to. She even had experience in medicine. Was she another of the student who worked with Nakahara-san? If she could learn to be incredibly precise with her electrical charges she would be very useful on rescue operations or emergency response.
Finally, it was Feng's turn. She had not been upset or disappointed by any of the girls' responses so far, and was still not at Feng's; of them all, however, hers felt the most hollow. She was determined and intent on being as useful and helpful as possible, but either she had not taken the lessons to determine how many people she could carry or how many feats of strength she could accomplish before wearing herself thing, or she had those answers and was not proud of them.
Hachi would need to keep an eye on her.
"Very good answers. All of you." Hachi said calmly, the buzz that followed them rumbling through her throat. "I do not expect to see any sort of grand disaster today, but apartment fires are not unheard of in such densely populated areas, and we would be first response for those on higher floors. Just be aware of the possibility."
Hachi hovered to the edge of the arcade's rooftop, gesturing for the three of them to follow her. "We will be patrolling Akihabara from now until nightfall at about nine this evening. At that point you will return to the school for the day. This is only meant to be a half-day in term of patrol shifts. After today's patrol I will be calling on you in the early morning and expecting you to stay til midnight at the latest. So long as you are with me you will not be considered to be breaking curfew, though I will be expecting you to keep one another in check this evening after returning to Musutafu--no more flight or leaping out of my sight."
"Now, Akihabara is crowded. The majority of people here are tourists, both Japanese and from other countries who enjoy the 'otaku' culture." It felt odd to say "otaku" aloud, let alone to her students, but the term had been coined long before her time. Oh well. "We will be patrolling different districts of the Chiyoda ward in our time together, but this is undoubtedly where the most people are. Hence, heightened need for patrolling heroes. We'll be performing loops around the city from rooftop-to-rooftop. Most likely the first activity we will deal with today, if at all, will be a thief. Tourists make for easy marks, especially on crowded streets like these. How perceptive are all of you?"
She pointed a long claw into the crowd below. "Even from only this high up, it is impossible to make out distinct facial features or even an accurate body-type. In the case of a robbery you will need to act with enough speed to catch the criminal, or at the very least reach a distance at which you can best see them, before they are lost in the crowd. Should we lose one--and it does happen--we report a robbery to the police with what details we have an increase our patrol in the area, keeping watch for the perpetrator. Ah, yes."
Hachi paused to pull something out of one of the packs at her waist. A roll of medical tape and three small ear/mouth-piece sets were in her out-stretched claws.
"These are short-range, no more than ten meters, and only communicate with one signal; the one I have running from my helmet's communication device. I can pick up on police radio from mine, but this will only be for speaking with one another should we be positioning on nearby buildings, or if there is an emergency."
"That said, should a thief or other criminal be spotted, you are not to pursue alone. You must use your earpiece to alert me before anything else. I will reach you very quickly. We will work together to catch them."
She paused, then, after a second pulled out a slightly larger roll of electric tape. "I was also not sure if you would require this instead of the medical tape, Curved Lightning, to keep your earpiece in. It should be sturdy enough to resist a mild electrical currents...it was a design used by a previous hero with similar abilities."

A ngel was unable to stop herself from crossing her arms and tapping her right foot as Yumi began to gloat about how she was the only one that had passed their mentor's test even pulling out a notepad to prove her point. Angel even went as far as to roll her eyes in a rather annoyed fashion. So what if she had gotten it right!? Angel and Feng's entrances at least had a little flare in their execution. Angel having the feeling that Feng was also a bit upset by the gloating she cleared her throat and looked over to Yumi. "Alright CL,we get it. There is no need to gloat. We're all on the same team here. Let's try not to burn some bridges yea? We were already reprimanded and told we screwed up. No need to rub it in."Angel let out a soft sigh before beginning to walk along the edge of the building gracefully and with a lack of fear that came from years of flying above the world. As she did so she listened to both team mate's answers to their mentor's questions taking note of their limitations and decided it would probably be best if she told the group her two biggest limitations. "If we're talking about field limitations I really only have two that I know of. The first being that having two extra appendages to work with is a total energy suck so every two hours or so I'll need to land and grab a high calorie snack so I don't drop out of the sky in exhaustion. My only other big limitation is that my feathers are highly flammable so if the case does happen we have to go into a burning building i'll have to tuck them into the holes in the back of my suit and rely on the rest of my body until the actual extraction of the civilians. My hearing aids should be good to go."Angel tapped both hearing aids until Yellow Jacket once again scolded her saying she needed to break her habit of flying everywhere. To this Angel nodded. "I'll break the habit and drive from place to place from now on Ma'me. I just became old enough to do so and got my license."As Yellow Jacket explained their patrol route, the rules they were to follow and their schedule Angel made sure to stand still on the edge of the building so that her mentor knew that she had the hyperactive girl's attention. As Yellow Jacket asked how perceptive they were Angel wasn't sure if it was a rhetorical question or not so she decided she better take a second to answer. "i've spent my entire life viewing the world with a bird's eye view! The bad guys no matter how big or small will have a hard time escaping my sight! We totally got this!"As Yellow Jacket pointed down at the crowds below Angel crouched down and perched on the buildings edge like a gargoyle statue as she watched the crowd and listened to her mentor's words. It was true that even with her expertise with how she viewed the world it was true that she couldn't make out any distinct facial features which caused her to nod as the wise bee woman explained the protocol of what they should do if they did lose a thief and that they were not to engage alone. "Understood ma'me!"As Yellow Jacket held out the short range communication devices and how they worked Angel stood tall and took one looking it over. She then tucked her Triple P under her right arm so that she could remove the bleu tooth chip and the microphone piece from the communicator as well as it signal piece. She then removed her right hearing aid revealing the jagged round deformed ear hole that she hid underneath. She then quickly went to work outfitting her hearing aid like she often did with her cellphone. She then returned her hearing aid to it's proper place and tapped the call button. "Just making sure I did this right. Can you all hear me okay? I had to add the parts to my hearing aid like I do with my phone."As she waited for an answer Angel spread out her wings to their full width and gave them one hard flap so that she too could hover in the air like her mentor before moving to hover over the edge of the building. "Just tell me where you want me to go ma'me! Though if we're working in pairs I'd like to request Typhoon Dragoon. No offense intended to C.L.,but her quirk if she got too close could short out my hearing aids and them i'm totally screwed."Angel then once again removed a hearing aid,but this time the left one to point out she had them in both ear holes before giving C.L. an apologetic look. "We won't have to worry about it in combat because my weapon is electrically insulated as well as flame retardant."

Yumi realized between the look on Feng’s face and the rather more blunt approach of Angel that she was giving the impression of rubbing it in but…she really hadn’t intended that. She was more just excited she’d been sure enough this was a test that she’d even taken precautions to the matter. “N-no no I just erm. Well even when I was on the ground around the building I still technically wasn’t ‘under supervision’, so I wanted to make sure it wasn’t a trick? Like-“ She paused, clearing her throat. “No offense of course Miss, but I just wanted to ensure we had some defense on the matter, if I used my quirk to reach you and got told off for it. It would have been weird for me to just stay in the street expecting you to find me afterall…”
She rubbed the back of her neck, still feeling a little bad for her excitement, buuuut…in the end she had been right. It was a good precaution to take, so she didn’t let her head hang low. She did turn to Feng and say “I’m sorry if I bothered you or anything.”
She specifically did not apologize to Angel. Her frustration with Yumi had come out more rudely in her eyes, and besides, she was still a little mad hearing Karen’s versions of events when they’d played a game of tag or something. From how her blue haired roommate told it, she’d tried to get a tag on Angel and Angel covered herself in a spinning barrier of feathers, leaving Karen to injure her hands trying to land a tag. Still, she didn’t show spite or the like about it, instead going from a brief downer to a more chipper smile. This was a good day. She’d passed the first ‘test’ and she was feeling confident in herself. She wasn’t gonna let herself drag it all down from one or two mistakes. Not today.
As Hachi explained their roles for the day, that they would be mostly performing a scout like role for her rather than capturing criminals themselves, Yumi found that very reasonable. Her quirk use itself was heavily trained for combat anyway, but petty thieves likely didn’t have what it took to withstand her attacks without her causing genuine damage, so until she had further experience it was very reasonable that they shouldn’t be seeing real action. She paid attention to the headesets, already worrying that she might short it out or something, but Hachi’s confidence in presenting them reassured her that she’d taken such measures. Yumi wasn’t charged right now anyway, so she had no worried about putting them on.
She paused when the initial medical tape was not offered to her, but was even more assured Hachi had planned ahead when offered the special tape. “Oh, thank you miss. That’s very considerate of you.~” Was considerate the right word? Probably not, Hachi was just being sensible and thinking ahead, but all the same the sentiment was appreciated by Yumi, adjusting her headset as Hachi likely displayed and using Angel as an example. Briefly she narrowed her eyes a little when it was suggested Angel not pair with her, but when given the reason-
“Oh! Totally understandable. Really.~” She chimed a little, raising her hands. “Don’t worry I’ll keep a safe distance. My sparks mostly arc towards the nearest surface to keep me afloat so you should be mostly fine if we’re apart.”
With that she just had one niggling question. “Excuse me, I don’t mean to delay, I’m sure we’re all raring to go, but just a quick question.” She piped up. “Is it really only a ten meter range? I understand you need to supervise us but that’s roughly the length of a single street. I genuinely don’t mean to be rude, truly, I just worry we’d all have to monitor the same street to stay in range of eachother.”
She raised her hands a little defensively to add. “O-of course if this is by design, I understand, I was just curious.”

Feng didn’t pay the two-no mind, there were bigger things to worry about than rule violations. She can feel the animosity growing between the two or what she can considered it, remembering how her sisters reacted towards their enemies. No feelings of resentment towards Yumi, but Angel is being well…Angel. But lesson learned and moving on is Feng’s way of things and a little bit of excitement isn’t going to get her down. Dwelling on one or two mistakes is going to be no good for the heart and mind for something like this. Though she did make it a note to communicate the feelings more rather than let it build up, bad things tend to happen when misunderstandings happen between people. She looked to Yumi with an earnest smile with a thumbs up to assure her that no hard feelings.
“No worries, Lightning. I broke the rules, but we have the whole night ahead of us. Lets focus on the task at hand ..”
After assuring everything was okay she turned her attention back to Yellow Jacket as she explained our roles and the general plan for tonight. Since they are interns, she not going to be expecting anything majorly dangerous or grand in scale for their work. Though street level work does have its ups and downs but its work, nonetheless. Bank robberies and fires are prolly the biggest dangerous in a city, unseen hazards around every turn and the robber can be anyone. Speed and Reaction time are going to be important for this kind of work and luckily she has been working on it. The biggest challenge is doing it effectively as those two factors alone can’t capture a criminal. Adding on that they are only interns, getting a righteous attitude in high risk situations is only going to get her into more trouble. Gotta be sharp and focused if she wants to be a successful hero.
Though in the back of her mind, her response to Yellow Jackets question bothered her. Maybe she could have answered better, maybe she should have been more confident in her numbers, maybe even say that even if her body is broken she will fight on or anything. She has a feeling that she wasn’t happy with her answer and must prove herself on the field. Yet another wall to climb but she will conquer it, even if the wall is as difficult as knowing what it means to be a hero.
As Yellow Jacket finishes up her explanation of the routine today, she hands the trio some capture tape and earpieces to keep contact with her. Feng takes her piece and secures it to her left ear, making sure that its properly there and not fall off. The tape roll however is fastened to her wrist for easy access and use. Though the range doesn’t leave much room for catching a criminal without getting real up close. Yumi seemed to have noticed this as well considering the situation. As that question was being asked, she followed up with her own question which is rather important for something like this.
" Are we all going a set route and stick together via the roof tops and the moment one of us spots a criminal, we relay it back to you and we take action accordingly or is there anything else that is needed to be cleared up…?”
Since they’re all under supervision of Yellow Jacket here, Feng can’t do her usual thing so its best to get things cleared up, so no other misunderstandings happen again. She takes the time to take deep breaths and stretch before she goes from roof to roof. Pulling a muscle while mid-flight would lead to major injury after all.

But remember from here on in, History has its eyes on you. Hearing aids. Yes, that had been in Angel's file when she had read it. However Hachi had expected them to be underneath what, to her, had appeared to be an additional accessory of her costume rather than being the "ears" themselves. Interesting. It certainly made integrating a radio device much easier for her; Hachi wondered, though, if such large aids could be easier to be knocked off by either accident or intentionally by an individual who knew their function. She wouldn't be the one to suggest she change their appearance to a more inconspicuous one--not when her taste in head-wear was just as over-elaborate. Everyone had their "flair".
She answered Yumi's question before moving onto the subject of splitting into teams. "That was the intended design, yes. It is not that I do not believe you all mature enough to handle this task, and to follow the rules, without my literal watch. However it was made quite clear that you are only to make use of your Quirk with my supervision. This wouldn't be an issue if we were conducting a patrol by foot, but as we are doing so by air, you will be using your Quirk for the majority of the process. Thus, I cannot allow you to be out of sight. That puts a limiter on the scope of our patrol."
Hachi doubted that any of them could get into trouble just by using their Quirk for mobility's sake. Yet, the rules were as written. She wouldn't be bending them.
The fact of the matter that the earpieces could go more than ten meters was to see their ability to do the same.
Sometimes she could be quite unfair with her tests.
She nodded to Angel once. "Teams was the plan; we will have a better vantage if there are two to each side of the street. And having a 'flyer' per side is ideal. Angel of Mercy and Typhoon Dragoon, you have my go-ahead to fly, jump, or if you would prefer walk your way to the other buildings across from us. We'll move south until we reach the Kanda river, then east toward the station itself, and north to the top of the district. It should take an hour and some change to loop the whole of Akihabara; afterwards we will focus on the more densely populated areas along the center avenue."
"One last clarification...hm, there is something I should say." Hachi paused, looking over her students before she spoke. There was more gravity to her voice than there had been before--a weight to it that insisted that what she was saying was not to be taken lightly. "As of now, should there be a serious emergency, criminal or otherwise, I will not be putting your safety as my top priority. If you are in danger in a situation that you can handle, be it due to the limitations of your Quirk," she glanced at Feng, though the appearance of her eyes and stillness of her head did not indicate that, "Or due to injury, I expect you to get yourself out of it. Say that you require aid, of course, but do not expect me to put aside civilian safety to help you. From here on, you are a hero, and I expect you to handle yourselves as such."
"The same should go among the three of you. If your partner is in need of your help, you may offer if, but in a situation where there is nothing you can do that will not cause you harm or will harm a civilian in the process, do not put your life or another's life at risk. You are a hero, but you are not invincible. I would much rather one of us be harmed and need to retire for the day than two of us. And the same goes for myself."
"If I am in danger, you do not need to save me." She drew in a small, deep breath, then exhaled. "The safety of the lives you have sworn to protect are first priority. Then your safety. Then the safety of your partners."
Now do as I say, not as I do.
"When you're ready, we will start moving on route."

A ngel wasn't truly surprised when she wasn't given an apology due to the realization that she herself had been a tad rude. She was however happy that at least Feng got an apology. Once that was over and done with Angel turned her attention back to her team mates and mentor as her team asked their questions and prepared themselves. She then put her full attention toward Yellow Jacket as she explained that they did indeed intend on teams, but luckily for Angel her mentor and Yumi did see the problem with pairing her up with the electric quirk user and so she was paired with someone she had plenty of experience with being Feng. To this Angel smirked at Feng. "Together again it seems eh Typhoon Dragoon!? Feels like old times! If you ever need a short break from using your quirk I don't mind carrying you a little. It gives me an idea for a team up attack I call the fast ball special where I throw you by the hand legs first into an enemy for a massive momentum kick attack!"Angel grinned and for a moment walked over to Feng and wrapped her right wing around her shoulder in a team mate like way as she listened to the routes they would take. South to the river, east to the station and then finally north to the top of the district. It seemed simple enough to do via the roof tops and near the ground level. Due to how high up they were Angel would need to perch on some lower platforms to get an accurate lay out of their little game board. What Yellow Jacket said next filled Angel with more excitement then she had ever felt to date. From that point on she would be seen as a true hero and was to put the protection of innocence before herself and even her partner. To this Angel nodded before tapping her hearing aid communicator. "You got it boss! We won't let you down! Please let me know via com if I'm allowed to perch down lower on like a light post or something so that I can get a better eye view. You were right, this high up it's hard to see. I'll await your orders!"Angel then stretched out her wings before running toward the edge of the building while grasping her triple P. She then jumped off without an ounce of fear and took to the air with a happy corkscrew maneuver while cheering happily for the world to hear. This was the first step to achieving her dream of being a pro hero. Once Angel reached the building across from the group she touched down happily letting herself skid with a grin and waited for Feng to catch up to her as she moved to the edge of the building and perched herself like a gargoyle so she could try and get a better view while she kept her wings outstretched to gauge the direction of the wind. As she watched toward the ground like a hawk the young mutant couldn't help but grin. "Today is only the beginning."

Right, seemed everyone was okay and set with Yumi being paired up with their mentor for the day Hachi, which Yumi herself didn’t mind so much, at least once the morbid mental metaphor of a ‘bug zapper’ managed to pass through her mind. A brief thought, and one she didn’t’ allow herself to linger on, so ultimately just something she didn’t worry about. Afterall as much as it was easy to connect the dots in her brain, both she and Hachi knew how to competently handle their flight…least she felt she did, but either way, she doubted there’d be any slip ups when paired with the heroine.
It was also confirmed that the 10 meter limit was by design, which was fair Yumi supposed, and she had no argument against it in the slightest. She did think, since they could all fly, it should be easier to spot each of them, but Hachi was being cautious, and that was entirely fair given the responsibility on her shoulders here.
She did speak up just a little, not to interject, but just offer the information of- “I should be fine so long as we remain over the streets. The way by quirk allows me to fly, I have to actively push off of something. If there’s a building nearby though my range is like…3 floors of a building I think? I havn’t really gotten a measuring stick but suffice to say if I’m aware of what’s around me I should actively have no issues.” She nodded both confirming the info to herself and the others, mostly Hachi of course if they were indeed pairing up like what seemed to be happening.
As everyone got ready to go, Yumi would charge herself up again, a blue coating of electrical energy over her skin, almost making her look like she was made of the stuff. She was ready to go when Hachi gave the signal.
