WORD COUNT: 712 TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Wrapping one end of the blood she had bled around her arm, she used the other end to reach upwards, grabbing onto the top of the container-esque building closest to her. The blood at the top of the container hardened to the metal, essentially functioning as a climbing robe. The blood contracted as if it was a muscle, pulling the girl upwards. It certainly wasn't with ease, but it was good enough to get Rin up onto the high ground. The girl's teary eyes were clogging up the gas mask. Crying was not an option if she wanted to be able to see. Suppress it...The idea was relatively simple in design. They, being Rin and Niso, needed to search the area as quickly as possible. So, if the villain team had thought of being sneaky, hiding the suitcase at the very peak of the area, Rin would've spotted them from up here. It is over, I have the high ground. Rin thought to herself, not quite sure why. Down below, the girl could see Niso moving around, searching for their objective in his own way. Another reason Rin had chosen the high ground was, it allowed the two of them to cover more ground quickly - while still allowing her to keep an eye on Niso. So, if ever he got into trouble, she could respond and assist. Being that he had gone in his own, Rin figured he must've been relatively confident, so she wasn't expecting that he'd be needing help. Either that, or he had judged that spreading out was neccessary for them to locate the objective before time ran out. Perhaps they ought to have communicated better on their plans...
Launching the blood across the gap between the containers, Rin was effectively moving across the top of the containers by utilizing her quirk, attempting to approach from angles that the villains wouldn't expect. Figuring that the briefcase was probably indoors, hidden in one of the container-buildings somewhere, she wasn't expecting to have a visual of their objective from up high. Instead, the girl was hoping that the villains were still moving around and preparing for their arrival. Gathering information before moving in could save the both of them a lot of trouble. It was therefore much to Rin's delight, that she saw a figure moving around on the low ground. The girl, Sadie, seemed to be moving around on her own. Narrowing her eyes, Rin kept low against the container, trying to conceal her own presence while doing recon. Sadie had come out from a building. Rin committed this information to memory. Depending on how far away Sadie went, it'd probably be one of the first buildings Rin would search.
For now, she surveyed the area, occasionally taking a moment to look in the direction of Niso, to make sure she knew where the boy was headed. Even if they were apart, even if they couldn't communicate, she still wanted to take advantage of having a partner. So keeping track of his location was crucial...
Now, with Sadie accounted for, where could Nick be hiding...?
Pink is Sadie. Red is Nick. Green is Niso Blue is Rin.
(The above is where I imagine all the characters are moving. DM me for corrections!)

Niso perhaps should have gotten a better plan rather than just running in, but hearing the sounds of Rin climbing the containers behind him was a good sign. It felt good knowing she had a good tactical head on her shoulders to get a vantage point like that. With the signal in his own cat's mind to go find the case, it immediately began scouting out the left as Niso ran to the right, crouching low with his dog moving nice and low with him, trying to stay quiet as possible, using the dark color of the cars with his black, long coat in the hopes there'd be even less chance of him being spotted, moving from one truck to the second in a quick darting motion to cause as little disturbance as possible. Inching to the edge of the big truck, he peered carefully around the edge...none of them yet...where were they? His eyes turned to the containers behind him, trying to catch Rin's attention without giving himself away, and if he was so lucky, just giving her a brief signal. It may not have been too clear, he pointed back to the area his cat had scouted, and gave a thumbs up hoping he was doing well indicating it should be clear. As for the case, he pointed to the opposite side of his hiding spot, and gave a big X with his arms, hoping to indicate this time that it hadn't been checked. With his cat by his side, and feeling the thicker, stenchier air as his gas mask pushed to filter the scent lingering in the air, he kneeled down beside his undead canine and slowly pet it's head, quietly willing it to scout ahead in place of the cat as it caught back up with him, the canine keeping low as he headed out between the crates and under the bridge above, eyes peeled for the image of a suitcase Niso had filled his rotting mind with.

Nick had been in similar situations to this before. Not on this scale. Not with an actual warehouse, or a pretend bomb, nor with live opponents on the same path as him. The Gifted Underground had put him through obstacle courses in their attempts at training him to be their perfect soldier, the one whose actions would finally lead the group to notoriety and make their cause known across the world. Of course, none of their courses and tests compared to this. As frustrating as Yuuei was, it had excellent training facilities, he would give it that.
It should have meant Nick was calm, but his heartbeat was erratic and he could feel himself beginning to sweat. All it meant in the end was that he felt pressure to succeed weighing on him like a mountain. He had never been allowed to fail before. The strong were not supposed to fail, ever. Especially not to someone like Rin…
The rancid smell was growing more powerful by the second. He had to resist the urge to gag. No sooner had he done this, his heart skipped as he saw one of his opponents enter directly into his path – not Rin, but Niso, accompanied by what was blatantly a zombie dog.
So, Niso’s Quirk must have been to raise the dead. Interesting. Such an ability was something you would stereotypically expect from a villain. No time to ponder on that, however, Nick thought as he got into a stance as though he were an Olympic sprinter ready for the gunshot.
Nick exploded from the shadows like a demon unleashed from hell. His dark armour enveloped him and he put every ounce of the enhanced speed and strength it gave him into his wild charge. He dashed straight for Niso, ignoring his pets, and lunged at him with his fist aimed for his head with everything he had, as well as intending to slam him into the truck with the force of his body.
A quick take down was what was needed here. Nick had little clue as to how Niso’s Quirk worked, but he assumed – hoped – that hurting him enough would sever his connection to the creatures, even if only temporarily.

| The Sadie Clone had made her way out into an open part of the training area. It was still to quite. She would duck behind what looked like a broken down police car and hid by the trunk on the side that was closest to where her original body was. She would peak out from behind the car just in time to see Nick, or she thought it was Nick dark out from hiding. He didn't know who else could be. She doubted that was Rin and Niso was too scrawny.
She would duck back down under the cover of the police car. She was honestly slightly annoyed that he could take the offensive but when she suggested her plan it was tossed out to the side. That's probably what he is doing right now anyway! God he pissed her off so much, Sadie knew best when it came to team work. So why the hell didn't he just shut up and listen. But hey, since he ended up with her plan anyway, she might as well try and find where he put the case. It's not like it was live so it would make the most sense to keep it with her. Still hiding behind the car, she would survey, wondering where she would hide a case if she was a hot-headed idiot.
---
Back with the real Sadie, she would sit and wait, honestly bored out of her mind. But she move she risked compromising her position. Not to mention letting her quirk slip. She wanted to keep that ace in her back pocket for the time being. Looking down at her watch, it seemed like another minute or two passed. She lightly leaned her head back on the crate behind her. There was sounds of fighting outside. And Sadie was sort of in range in terms of her linked eye sight. It was giving her a headache to try and see what was happening. She could of sworn her clone was in range. She doubted it was more then 50 feet away. Was it the smell? It still made her feel sick. That would of been a weakness she wasn't aware of.

WORD COUNT: 712 TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Rin crept forwards on the edge of the container building that she was on, looking down to see what Sadie was getting up to. The woman was looking around strangely, surveying the area. It made very little sense to her. The villains should know where the heroes could enter from. So exactly what could the girl be looking for..?
That is when Rin's eyes caught the metallic shape at the small alleyway between two container buildings, directly in front of her. Blinking a few times confusedly, why was the bomb out in the open like that. The mysteries kept piling up. However, with the bomb case being located relatively early on in the exercise, Rin's hope that they'd be able to pull this one off seemed to find a foundation to build upon. For the next part of the battleplan, as far as Niso and Rin had agreed, they needed to cut the lights out. Extending the blood once again, Rin removed the ties to her hand, allowing the blood to float in mid air. The blood swirled around one of the lamps. The idea was simple. Get the blood inside the connection and shortcircuit the hwole building.
It was at that exact moment, just as Rin began working on cutting the power to the building, that things downstairs escalated. The charge sounded like an angry rhino, cornering it's prey. Shaking her head from side to side, she couldn't afford to rush down there and help. Even if Rin gave supporting Niso her everything, Nick was not an easy opponent to deal with. The best option was running out the time, continuing onwards, and hoping that Niso would be okay.
It sounded like a large echoing snap throughout the entire building, when Rin shortcircuited the lamp. Darkness enveloped the warehouse in a flash. Aside from the small windows at the very top of the building, everything was coated in darkness, much akin to being out at midnight, with only a few distant streetlamps to break the monotomy.
Rin began moving, rapidly, in a chase to secure the briefcase before Nick or Sadie could recover it. Hopefully Niso would be able to keep Nick occupied for long enough that Rin could make it across the main street and secure the briefcase. The jump was slightly longer than the police car. If there had been proper lighting, the girl may have made the jump without assistance. In the dark however, everything was far more complex. So, to give herself a slightly longer reach, Rin created a single step into the open with her blood, supporting the dash. Leaping across the main street, Rin almost slipped. Doing her best to maintain the sound as low as possible, there was still a chance that Sadie's clone could've heard her leap of faith, if Niso and Nick clashing wasn't taking all of her attention. Breathing heavily, the constant use of her quirk to move around was taking its toll. At least, the pain from cutting herself had subsided...
From above, the girl would try to reach down with the tendril of blood. The idea of grasping the briefcase while covered in the darkness was the only chance Rin could think of to win this. If the briefcase was gone, the villains would have to find Rin before she managed to defuse it. Come on, come on.. Niso was trying so hard back there, at least let it pay off!

Niso was just about to get into cover when he felt a heavy force impact his side. As useful as his coat was as pseudo camo and helped to perhaps be a little intimidating along with his quirk, the hood over his head did help muffle Nick's charge, meaning Niso was slammed pretty easily into the floor or wall. He couldn't really tell up from down right now so it definitely could have been either one. Groaning deeply as the pain radiated through his frail body, especially fragile thanks to controlling two of his corpses, he tried his best to mentally will them into an attack, the loud barks of his canine and the hissing of the returning cat filling the air, inadvertently helping to fill the darkened warehouse with the sounds of vicious animals.
Sound, smell, Sight. All they needed was taste and touch and they'd have stolen the enemy of all their useful senses. Thankfully those last two weren't so important right now, especially to the frail little necromancer on the floor.
The Canine moved first, putting all it's weight into a tackle on Nick, Niso not waiting a moment and darting off to the entrance to the warehouse (left on the map), right past his feline who joined the fray. Nick's armor may have meant the animals couldn't do much, but both tried to cling to him as best they could, the canine trying to bite through his arm, while the cat clawed at his back and aimed to bite the back of his head, Niso just focusing on getting somewhere safe as he rounded the corner (North of the entrance). If Rin was as skilled as he was hoping, she might be able to get the case on her own under the cover of darkness...he could only hope.

Nick could not stop his own momentum. He collided with the truck himself and was sent staggering back a few steps from the pain of the impact. His vision wavered for a couple of seconds before it managed to focus again. He perhaps should have thought that one through a bit better, he realised all too late.
Then the lights went out.
His entire world was plunged into the deepest darkness. He doubted this was Niso’s doing. No – he knew exactly who’s doing it was. The very girl who had been a thorn in his side since the first exercise.
“Rin,” he growled, teeth gritted behind his demonic helmet.
Clever girl. Taking out the lights was exactly something he would have tried were he on the heroes’ team, and he cursed himself for having not expected it. He felt something run past him before he had chance to react, undoubtedly Niso. Slippery little bastard.
Damn it, which way was he running? Nick’s heartbeat accelerated even more, right as he heard a snarling something coming towards him. He managed to dodge it by jumping to the side. Thank the lord for the Gifted Underground’s training, which had taught him to use his hearing in situations where his eyes were useless. It had involved wearing a blindfold and getting the unholy crap beat out of him by older, stronger men. All those beatings, all those bruises, it had all been to make him the person he was today – he could. Not. Fail.
He spun into a roundhouse kick that he felt connect with the dog’s face. He heard the dog go flying back with a yelp that made something inside him actually flinch. Damn it, he did not like hurting dogs, even zombie ones. Dogs were not annoying and frustrating like humans. Generally they were good creatures, and if they were not, it was the owner’s fault.
A sharp pain went shooting through his back accompanied by hissing. He grimaced. Cats, too, were not that bad most of the time, though it was less the owner’s fault if they were. He tore the cat off his back and gripped its head with both hands. He squeezed. He squeezed as hard as he possibly could and did not stop until he heard a pop and felt fluids spill over his hands.
He let it drop and made blindly for where he had put the case, aware all the while that the dog was still active.

| When the lights went out both of the Sadies would look a bit concerned. But the main Sadie wouldn't leave her hiding space. She wanted to really badly now. And the dark could hide her main body. But there is the issue of that it was now really hard to see anything that was going on right now. And if she made a noise on accident, her quirk would be obvious at this point. And for this exercise, she didn't need to show her quirk to everyone.
However with the Sadie Clone, she would shrink against the car to hide more as the lights went out? Was she spotted? Either way she would need to be more careful However she would hear what seemed like a small crash. Like someone landed on the top of one of the containers. Was that Rin or Niso? Either way it was coming from in front of her. Did they spot the briefcase from above? Or was it something to lure her out into the dark?
Sadie's Clone really didn't have much of a choice though. If Nick hid the briefcase in such a way that it could be seen from above, Sadie would have to retrieve it. Her plan would of been to keep it on one of them so that way, if they failed. It was because one of them was defeated.
After a few moments of consideration she decided her hiding spot behind the car wasn't worth it and took off in the direction of the noise. And as she got closer she would see an outline being lifted into the air. And it looked a hell of a lot like the case Nick ran off with. Making a dive for the case, she would tackle the case and hold onto it tightly.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Rin was in the middle of lifting the suitcase towards herself when Sadie tackled it, latching on tightly. The amount of weight to be lifted by Rin's quirk, on this day, was getting slightly extreme. The girl's eyes had begun losing their sapphire color, slowly turning purple as the amount of stress on her body increased. Still, Rin continued to lift the briefcase with her quirk, hoping that she could make Sadie let go by exercising more force. That, instead, resulted in Sadie being lifted from the ground. Arms wrapped around the briefcase, the other girl was now hanging extended from the case, several meters in the air...
Rin's arms were shaking as she finally understood what was going on with the case. Breathing deeply, heavily, the girl offered a soft warning. Unaware of what Sadie's quirk might be, Rin had to take the offensive to get this ended quickly. If it dragged on too long, even with her increased stamina, she'd be up against the ropes. "..Please, let go, I don't want to have to hurt you."
Provided Sadie listened to the warning, Rin would begin pulling up the case so that it could be disarmed. Hopefully before Nick managed to deal with Niso and return to protect the case. However, if Sadie was being uncooperative, Rin took the most obvious path that she could see. With great effort, the girl allowed some of her blood to trickle down onto Sadie's face. Provided Sadie found no means of dealing with the situation, things would quickly take a turn for the worse. Once the blood was by Sadie's nose and mouth, the blood would harden suddenly. It was like being smothered by having a pillow pressed over one's face. Fortunately, the worst that could happen in this situation was, that Sadie would be choked out and faint. As long as the other girl wasn't landing on her neck, a drop from this height wouldn't do too much damage. Right?
Rin really wasn't interested in hurting anyone. At the same time, the raven-haired class president was more than aware of how Nick wouldn't hesitate to hurt Niso to accomplish the goals he had set for himself. Thus, if Rin wanted to compete, she couldn't allow herself to be overly softhearted towards Sadie. Once again; If at all Rin got to remove Sadie from the case, the next part of the mission; Pulling the case onto the high ground for defusal, would be started immediately and without hesitation. The sooner this test came to an end, the better, and there wasn't too many minutes left.

Surprised he managed to get away so easily, Niso did his best to navigate in the darkness, the green tint of his goggles hardly acting as night vision, but the unique coloration did help him discern what few colors remained in his environment a little better. Dipping behind a corner, he pushed his back up against it, breathing heavily as even that short bit of running took it out of him, his gas mask not exactly happening as it forced him to breathe a little harder for the same amount of oxygen.
Okay, from the sounds of things his corpses were distracting Nik, and Rin was up above in the cover of shadow. All he needed to do was hope she found the case and do his best to keep Nick busy. He took a long, deep breath, only to feel an overpowering sense of relief wash over him, far more than the breath deserved. It would have made him think something was wrong if it weren't accompanied by the sickening crack. With one of his corpses down his hold was released from it, and he quickly realized one of his zombies was down. Sure it brought him some strength back, but he was hardly all that useful anyway...
Peering around the edge of his corner, Niso was ready to run again if Nick followed him, but watching him turn his eyes widened. Was the case that way...? It had to be right? Otherwise Nick woulda chased the only clear target he had. Right now Niso could either avoid further pain...or help out...with a hard gulp he told himself this would be what a hero would do, and started opening the smaller pouches on his backpack strap. Holding a small bat in one hand, and a woodpecker in the other, he imbued both with life and tossed them into the air to cath themselves flying. He commanded the bat to shriek, and as it did it was filled with the knowledge of it's surroundings, Niso commanding it mentally to go after the case. The woodpecker and his still active Canine sent after Nick as Niso tried to watch through the darkness from a safe distance.
Struck by Nick earlier, the canine was growling and forcing itself to it's feet. It's ribs were cracked, but undead, it felt no pain, lashing out and biting at the back of Nick's leg to try and keep him in place, the woodpecker swooping around to his face and trying to claw at the eyes of his helmet, just trying to delay him.
The tiny bat meanwhile moved to the case that was trying to be lifted, swooping in for the girl he didn't recognize as what Niso felt was the image of his ally, and with blood likely already on Sadie's clone's face, it'd now have to deal with a bat clinging to it's hair and biting at it's scalp.

Nick barrelled towards where he had placed the case like a locomotive running on pure rage. If one could have seen the face behind his helmet, it was that of a complete madman, teeth bared in a primal snarl and eyes wide and popping. Over and over the words played in his mind: he could not lose. He could not lose.
With sight out of the question, he strained his ears to their limits and picked up the sounds of movement ahead. Shit. He prayed it was just his incompetent partner, but then a voice spoke through the darkness:
"..Please, let go, I don't want to have to hurt you."
Rin. Even more intense white hot fury blasted through him and blocked out his every other thought. He did not even care that he then heard growling behind him that indicated Niso’s dog was back and catching up. Nothing mattered to him except Rin. It was time to finally put her down and show her exactly how weak she was.
He sprang using every ounce of his enhanced strength, feeling the dogs jaws just miss his feet. He landed against one of the two walls of containers and immediately pushed off towards the other wall and did the same again. He bounced between them in a manner reminiscent of the characters from some of his videogames. At last he reached the top of the containers and allowed himself to fall in the direction he sensed Rin’s movement, aiming to body slam her with all his might.

| Sadie have never held onto anything so hard in her life. It didn't help that the clone be lifted off the ground. Sadie would look up when Rin asked her to let go. It wasn't possible to see it clearly but Sadie would be defiant. "Like hell I will."
She didn't want to lose! But what was Rin using to to lift her up? What ever it was, it was messy. It was dripping on her face and moving? By the time it clicked, the blood has dripped into mouth and noise. She sputtered for air, but that was soon stop as the blood hardened and her fight for breath would be stifled. Yet her help on as long as she could. But soon her body would start to convulse due to the lack of air.
Her vision started to swirl, her eyes becoming bloodshot. There was something else going after her, but she seemed unresponsive to it. By the time it got to her, Sadie was a bit focused on the lack of air. While this was just a clone, was Rin trying to kill her? Fear overtook the clones body as the last of her air would be used up and her grip loosened. She would fall to the ground, landing hard onto some debris that laid below.
---
Sadie was unsure what made her loose connection with her clone. Was it the fall? Or the fact that it had been choked out. Either way Sadie would be scared. Not sure what would happen once her clone would fade away. All she knew is that it would happen. She got out of her hiding space. She needed to head to some where not hidden. But she would only get a few steps out of her hiding spot. Near the others, her clone would fade away. Possibly without being noticed.
But Sadie would gasp for air, but it didn't register with her. Even though there was nothing blocking her breathing her body wouldn't breath properly. She would fall forward and pass out.
(Sadie is out of the topic now. Due to reasons I have greatly discussed with admins, she is getting dropped. So after this thread you can reference her as if she dropped out of UA due to pretty much being scared out cause she got choked out.)

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Sadie was clinging on with tenacity. Despite the other woman needing to physically exert herself. Despite being unable to breathe, she still clung to the briefcase as Rin continued to pull it upwards. However, that only lasted a short period. Before Rin knew it, the briefcase practically flew upwards as the weight of Sadie dissipated. No longer needing to focus on keeping the blood mask over Sadie's face active, that blood simply joined the rest of the blob. Somewhere down below, the noise of Sadie crashing emanated upwards. The sound of a furious bulldozer emanated upwards. Nick was on the way at full speed. In a few moments he'd be up there. What on earth was the raven-haired girl to do? Having already fought off Sadie, having already used her quirk significantly, Rin could not continue to do battle. The girl needed to somehow solve this predicament, without having to face Nick head on. The girl made her choice. Rather than pulling the briefcase to herself, the girl flung it outwards. Covering it in her own blood to prevent an explosive landing.
The girl had to gamble everything on Niso still being awake down below. The undead bird which had been pecking away at Sadie, seemed a good enough indication that he wasn't out of comission just yet. The blood wrapping around the IED was to protect it upon landing. Having figured that the bomb could explode unpredictably if taking too much damage, Rin had done her best to wrap it for Niso like a present. Hopefully it was enough. "Niso, catc--!" That is about how far Rin got, before Nick crashed directly into her. Despite having to run fa good fifteen meters, despite having to jump between the containers to reach her, he was still there incredibly fast. The girl had figured that she would have a few extra seconds at the very least. Nick was too fast!! Even a moment of time in the dark, a small chance to dodge the oncoming wrath. Anything but being caught in her sentence! Instead, she had called out for Niso at the exact moment Nick had needed to pinpoint her location. Still in the dark, the slam wasn't perfect.. but it served to knock Rin to the ground with the container's metallic echo proving that she had been hit.
Somewhere down below, the briefcase landed with a loud metallic smack. Hopefully Niso would be capable of identifying and disarming it. Hopefully this would be the final move to end the lecture.
Rin was down on top of the container, lying underneath Nick's left arm from the bodyslam. The girl's shoulders were barely on the edge of the container. The girl had no more blood left to fight with. The girl was running out of stamina rapidly. Yet, she couldn't allow Nick to simply leave. Rin was weakened at this final stage of the practice, so to Nick in his armor, it'd likely seem like a fly getting in his way. Wrapping her arms around his, the girl essentially tried to get Nick into a simple arm lock. Having no real technique or experience with martial arts, it essentially came down to applying as much of her weight onto his wrist as possible. Keep him pinned till his armor runs out.
Rin was breathing heavily, deeply. Even with her increased stamina, her ability to fight was coming to an end. This last ditch effort was only an attempt to make Nick's armor run out. Like it had in their baseball tossing training. If his armor ran out, then as long as Niso was conscious, it was their win. Rin was sure of it. The last time Nick had changed out his armor, he had been fatigued and weak, despite his best actions to display otherwise. Clinging to him desperately, meekly, her every action spoke for her. I will not let you leave. In the end though, he'd likely be able to push her off if he tried.

Niso had started to inch closer to the main scene, watching Nick leap into the air as Sadie seemed to...vanish? Was that right? In the darkness it was hard to tell exactly what had happened at this distance, but it was more than easy to tell that they seemed to have the case! All Rin needed to do was hide out and deactivate it and they were home free! Okay Rin, just get out of the way of Nick and-
Oh. Shit.
The call of his name and the sound of that rough slam told Niso this was on him now. Time slowed from his perspective, watching the case fall through the air. From the tackle earlier he knew full well he couldn't take Nick in a fight and his corpses weren't even enough to handle him either. His breath froze for that single second as it spanned into what felt like a full minute, that case slowly falling down towards the ground.
In an instant, he turned off his overthinking brain, all the tactics and strategies he'd try to come up with fading for a sole idea as he rushed forward out of cover. He caught the case in his arms and mentally commanded his still active canine to bark as he told his bat and woodpecker to aim for Nik's face, trying to blur his senses, removing his vision in place of a set of fluttering wings and rapid scratches and pecks, while his dog's loud parks echoed off the metal containers, covering his hasty run as he darted through the open space, and dove into one of the openning points of a nearby metal container. He was moving hastily, just hoping Nik wouldn't find him as he started to uncover the case from the blood packaging, opening it up and taking the screwdriver, trying to undo the covering as fast as possible while his corpses distracted Nick.

The exercise had gone tits up and then some. The tits were not only up, they were orbiting Pluto. The frustration Nick felt was on a level he had never known possible. He barely heard the screeching of another one of Niso’s blasted corpses, a bird of some form, which dived towards his face.
He swatted it away, and the same with the other screeching creature that followed it. Their existences barely mattered to him. No, all that mattered was the impudent, weakling brat clinging to his other arm as though her life depended on it. His body strained; he knew his limit was up, that his transformation was coming to an end. No. It could not end now. Not until he taught this girl a lesson. Ugly words spewed from his mouth like raw sewage.
“Fucking – piece of – shit!”
How dare she touch him. How dare she even believe for a second she could match his ability. He clenched his other hand into a fist that shook from rage. He unleashed it in her direction with everything he had, his furious roar rebounding off the walls of the warehouse.
After his fist did or did not make contact, his armour melted back into its inky, sludgy state and released him from its grasp. It disappeared into the growth on his back, which shrank again. He sank down against the container. His body ached as though it had been run over and then thrown off a cliff for good measure. His mind screamed at him to get up, to fight, to never give in, but his pitiful body would not respond. The pain and exhaustion were too much.
Even so, the feeling of crushing failure was worse.
“No,” he groaned as it overwhelmed him. His voice was little more than a whimper.
