It was the most highly anticipated time of the year. The time when the students of UA could demonstrate to the world what they had learned over the course of the past year- And in a controlled environment, where even if they messed up, no one was in danger! Over in this budget unfriendly arena, the Rescue Operations showcase was taking place! Three students formed a team, each competing to rescue a hostage. Whichever side was not in possession was to act as villains, attempting to kidnap the hostage from the heroes- And if they succeeded, the roles would swap!
The stadium itself was, in a word, excessive. It seemed UA had built an entire cargo ship on their grounds, and even filled it with massive containers. For the sake of the audience, wide screens were visible from each side, flashing around to show the interior of the ship. It had two levels- An upper deck, and an internal cargo bay. An engine ran in the rear engine room, mirrored by a ballast tank in the front. However, despite each room being shown, the star of this show was nowhere to be seen!
As the tour completed, the screen would flash to a man in a gas mask, standing on the bow of the ship- arms outstretched as though to declare himself on top of the world. “Hello, hello, and welcome to the show! I’ll be your host, Blank-sensei! Is everyone ready?” And would be met with uproarious applause. But, unsatisfied, he would call again. “Very very nice! But I think we can do better, so let me ask again! Are! You! Ready!?”
Apparently satisfied by the second attempt, he nodded, his face unreadable behind his mask. “Welcome to the Team Rescue event, Exciting Escort! Deep in the bowels of this ship, the captain has been taken hostage by hijacking villains! But little do they know, the item they are searching for… Has been squirreled away on his very person! Our students must delve the dark depths of the ship, evade their rivals, and retrieve this vital person! As for the rest of the crew… Well, I can assure you that no one was harmed in the making of this event!”
As the man explained the event, a whirring sound could be heard, and flying platforms that appeared to have been borrowed from the team combat event would begin to rise next to the ship. “But you aren’t here for the backstory, so allow me to introduce today’s competitors! On the red team, we have! Hoshizora Karen! Kumoko Joro! And Honey Hirano!” The platform carrying these three would rise to the very top of the vessel’s bridge.
The other three would be deposited at the far front of the vessel. “And team blue! Taka Yasashi! Matthew McNaughton! Aaaaaand, last but not least, Berker Tian! As for everyone’s quirks… Ufufufu, I’ll let you see those for yourselves!”
The screen would return to Blank, who began walking down the length of the ship. “The rules are simple! Deep in the belly of the beast, the captain awaits! But be careful, for the hijackers have left more than a few surprises for our intrepid heroes… And our themselves lying await, to prevent any succesful operations! What’s worse! Once they know that the captain holds the prize, surely they will stop at nothing to escape with him!? Once you have him, make way to the extraction point, posthaste!”
It was simple enough. Aside from the looming threat of the unexplained surprises- Find the hostage, rescue him, and the other team are villains attempting to kidnap him. But as this was the rescue event, combat was clearly not the focus. “Oh, and don’t be too surprised when our students start lifting those massive containers! We ran out of budget before we could put any cargo in them! Ahahaha!” The man laughed at his own joke, but it was an important point. Those containers may be in the way- But while retreating, wouldn’t they make excellent roadblocks to hamper the enemy team?
“So, without further ado! Let’s begin the countdown!”
Whipping a captains hat from his sleeve, the teacher fit it over his gas mask. With a tilt of his head to the cameras that seemed to suggest a wink- It was hard to tell, mask and everything- The teacher would lightly hop onto the ramp which led to the interior cargo hold. From there, the cameras cut out- Leaving the students to guess where he might be hiding. But his voice continued. “If everyone understands~! Then let us begin in 5! 4! 3!...”

Oh boy, oh boy. She had forgotten to ask to call her Furball, but eh it wasn't like the... of course they were on television and the whole of Japan would be watching. Eeeeh she was found out! Calm down, Honey. The little squirrel told herself as she was also excited for the whole party to start. They would go to the bridge, wew, high on top but the little squirrel did not mind. She had her hero outfit, fixed with help from Kumoko and she was excited. Her hero outfit, fitting in yellow and orange was a sort of bodysuit with a long jacket over it. The jacket was changeable into making it so that she could fly or more glide on the wind at the moment, which made the bridge starting point even more exciting! She looked up at the others, being a small squirrel, she just had no strategic plan. Nope, Honey would jump into this without much thought it was definitely a shame that Yaya-kun was her opponent but well she would have to manage. "Can I at least jump down?" She said with a smirk, they had to strategize though now that they were finally able to see their playground. She got the game but a bit lost with the terms of the ship, that was okay, the others surely would understand at least Kumoko was in her team and she knew Hoshizora-san a little too. They had lunch not too long ago!
"Sooo what's our plan?" Having two support students in a rescue case might be useful but she did look at Karen, she was in a hero course so what did she want to do. Honey would just wait for either to make a comment, she was literally a bit of a goofball to make a decision. The jumping part was at least the fun part, but she wasn't even sure if it was allowed, weren't there boobytraps? She moved a little up and down, unable to stand still on their platform, this was going to be fun and she was so happy that she could be here and enjoy this opportunity, but she had no plans, she told the other two what she was good at but that was about it, there wasn't much to say about it. She could climb very well, she could use her tail to lift herself or others and so on, but it wasn't that long a tail, it was complicated and therefore she would sort of dance on the spot and wait for a strategy to unfold.

So this was it! The grand finale, the ultimate ending to their Sports Festival. U.A. High School was putting on an incredible show for this entire contest, with the amazing tournament preceding this and now with these exceptional events. One set of students would be using their skills and Quirks to play some epic Quirkball; another set bashing it out in an all out melee for dominance. And then, the last group...
Well, they were on a boat.
Like. I'm dead serious. Matt McNaughton's final participation for the Sports Festival was a rescue operation on a boat in the Stadium.
Oh, go ahead, let your jaws drop, no worries. I mean, Matt's sure did.
In all seriousness, Matt was flabbergasted when he found out that their "simple" Rescue Operation was going to be happening on a boat. IN THE MIDDLE OF A STADIUM SURROUNDED BY THOUSANDS. Geez, talk about performance anxiety in front of a small crowd. Overwhelmedby the sheer volume of people, Matt was freaking out! OK, he was a lot more calmed and relaxed than he thought he was, but his mind was still buzzing with thoughts peppering his head about his ability to perform and keep up with the others.
...EHHHHHHHHH he'll be fine! Right? Right.
Matt looked to his teammates and grinned. Berker was pretty awesome; they had met literally days before as opponents in the first round of the tournament! Matt was pretty sure he knew how Berker's Quirk worked, so maybe they could come up with a strong strategy using that. And Yasashi-san... Well, they were teammates now, so it would be a learning experience for everyone, huh! Matt grimaced inwardly. Man, what did he get himself into? Hopefully their Quirks could work together to make a united team.
"Uh, Berker-san, Yasashi-san!" Matt called the others over (in Japanese, Matt grimacing as he butchered word after word) for a group huddle; y'know, one of those classic American things. "Our goal is get to captain as soon possible, yes? What if we block off other group and they force to play our game? I block doorways and opening with barrier, Berker-san is quick and keep other team busy, and then Yasashi-San can rescue hostage and get to extract point and we win. Thought? Questions? Condiments? Concerns?"
Matt nodded, his mouth pulling into a proud, tight smile. This plan could work; Matt as a blockade preventing them from getting in, Berker to head them off and distract them, and then Yasashi to be the secret weapon to go and save the hostage. It was brilliant... and definitely not made up on the spot. No way.
Oh, and it definitely accounted for the Quirks and abilities on the other team. Yup, that definitely was going through his mind. Wait, what do you mean Sarcasm doesn't read well on paper?

Okay, this is it.To say that Kumoko was feeling nervous was a massive understatement. Words could not do it justice. Just like at the tournament, the spider-headed girl was almost shaking in anticipation. She was worried about being underwhelming and letting down those who were cheering her on. But at the same time, she was determined to do her best out there. Whatever happens, Kumoko just wanted to have a fun time, show everyone what she could do, and most importantly, not trip during a crucial time and ruining her chances of victory. At least this isn't a tournament. I should be able to do better here. ...I hope so, anyway. The goal was simple. Go into the depths of the ship, avoid obstacles and traps, reach the captain before the other team does, and then run to the drop point. Sounded simple enough, right? Well, this was going to be straightforward, but far from easy. There was no doubt that the opposing team would be trying their absolute best to win, and Kumoko doubted that any of them were pushovers. She just hoped that the challenge that the three boys would present would not be insurmountable. I... I can do this! I won't give up!Kumoko was wearing the exact same suit as she wore during the tournament. She was too fond of it to go with anything else. She also packed similar gear to what she had back then. The same durability enhancement thanks to her spider silk, the same tubes that connected to her gauntlets (so she could produce webs from the spinneret on the back of her head while also being able to fire it from the holes on the palms of said gauntlets), the same goggles that both protected her eyes and slightly enhanced her vision, the same utility belt equipped with various pouches, and the same stuff stored in each pouch. The pellets for her slingshot (which she did bring with her), the first-aid stuff like bandages and disinfectant, and the antidote to her venom in case she bit someone (whether by accident or from forced circumstance). All were there and ready for use. But unlike the tournament, Kumoko had brought with her some new things. A single capsule that would expand into a simple net upon opening, a small bit of rope, and three smoke balls. It was not a lot of stuff, but it was all Kumoko could carry with her without slowing her down by too much of a noticeable amount. Hopefully all of this will be enough. If only I were strong enough to be able to carry more.Upon seeing her teammates, Kumoko smiled and waved to the two. Thankfully, she did not trip this time. She already knew Honey, and was so happy to be on the same team as her in here. Karen, on the other hand, was someone Kumoko had not really interacted with yet. She did not know much about her, but hoped to be able to work well with and get along with her. After all, teamwork was the glue that held all successful teams together. "It's nice to meet you, Hoshizori-san." Kumoko gave her teammate a polite bow. "Hmm..." Kumoko began to think upon hearing Honey's question. There were many ways to approach their goal. So many things to consider. So many obstacles and problems to keep in mind. But simply rushing to the lower deck and running around until they found the captain was not enough of a plan. Obviously, if Karen had any suggestions, Kumoko would definitely listen to anything she had to say. But regardless, Kumoko did have a suggestion or two she wanted to share. "I have slightly better hearing than most people, and thanks to my goggles, my vision is slightly sharper, too. So before you two go on ahead, I could scout a bit ahead to look out for traps or if the boys try to hide and ambush us or something." Kumoko then sighed. "Only problem is, I'm really not that much of a combatant. I'm fast enough to probably have no issue with outrunning someone, and if I really need to, I can either ensnare someone with my webs, or even bite and inject venom in the absolute worst-case scenario." Hopefully that would never become necessary. "But I'm terrible at fighting. I'm in deep trouble if I get ganged up on. So I would need someone to be able to come in and drive off the other team if any of them tries to attack me." She then looked at Karen. "Hoshizora-san, what's your quirk, if you don't mind me asking? It would help immensely if we worked together and coordinated our attacks. We could watch each others' backs as we go down to find the captain."Whatever their team ultimately decided to do, whatever plan they decided to stick to and execute, and whatever problems arose, Kumoko was determined to do anything she could to not be useless to Honey or Karen. Of course, there was no way Kumoko would be able to do much on her own, so she needed all the help she could get. And she wanted to provide all the help she could. "Well whatever happens here, let's give it our very best, team!" Kumoko smiled. Yes, she was still feeling nervous, but there was also some excitement mixed in there. She could not wait to get started. WC 909

Berker took a deep breath as he waited for them to introduce the teams and get to the place the finale will happen. He imagined many things about how it will happen, was it going to be destroyed city? A desert? An underground place? No... It was a ship. That was the thing he never thought. They really did their best huh? As they were introduced he sound the applause of everyone, how many people came to watch this show? It was unbelievable... "Damn, aren't we famous?"
Once they were introduced he took a look at the other team. Kumoko, big problem. Honey, maybe... That hoshi-something girl he met thanks to Honey was on the other team too. Berker had no idea about her quirk so he decided to ask his teammates about it when he can find a chance to do. Now his own team, Matt was a pain in the neck with his barrier so it was good that he was on his team. Taka... What could he do? Berker realized he never asked for his quirk. Well... He didn't really had much chance to do so.
While he was thinking Matt suddenly spoke about a strategy he thought. That was not a bad plan. While Berker trusted Matt's barriers he wasn't sure how long he, himself could hold enemies and delay them? That was the question here. Thankfully place was fully cramped so he could use his quirk's athletic abilities to it's best but would it be enough to stop these three? As long as he was not caught in Kumoko's webs it shall be fine, or at least that's what he thought. While he was thinking another reality suddenly hit him. How could he use his staff however as he wants in this place? "uh oh..." He could make it stay at 1 meter form but that'd be an disadvantage compared it to 2 meter form. At the moment he quickly thought about extending his Staff to make a stabbing attack, and then shrinking it back to 1 meter form. He never showed this part of his Staff to anyone except Shouko so it shall be a surprise to everyone. If he could caught others by surprise with this he was sure he could easily gain the upper hand.
"Sure, sounds good." Berker smiled, "But Taka, what's your quirk?" Berker asked to Taka as he turned to face him. He had no doubts Taka could complete the job but knowing what his quirk would put Berker's mind at ease. If there was problem at least they could work something out on spot as they know each other's quirk. "By the way, be careful about Kumoko's webs. Also Honey is a fast one, don't let her pass or it'll be pain to catch. Let me know if i have to be wary of hoshi-something too" They probably already know this things but Berker still wanted to remind them.

Post by Taka Yasashi on Mar 6, 2020 10:48:52 GMT -4
Yasashi fell into a bit of a trance, keeping his breathing steady as he visualized and prepared. Mental preparations were just as important as tactical ones. Being in the right mindset was crucial and Yasashi was playing a different role today. A small smile teased on the corner of his mouth as the platform began to rise; the roar of the crowd mingling with the lights that beat down on their heads. Direct conflict was not his forte, he hated fighting, but this? Rescue? This is where he thrived. Yasashi's powerful muscles tensed beneath his jump suit-it had been designed to allow his bone armor to form a bit more rapidly with an even and regular surface. His skull mask hung at his waist; gleaming a bit. His eyebrows blazed with blue flame that matched the whisps of blue flame on his upper lip. He cracked a wider smile when he took in the situation. Blank-sensei certainly could put on a show!
"This is good, we have a good spot to start here..." Yasashi grunted a bit under his breath, tilting his head at the ship. "I'd avoid moving too many of the crates if at all possible, a few of them are probably booby-trapped," Yasashi said, tilting his head and letting his icy blue eyes scan the situation. "Aaaah... yeah, yeah. Take too many risks with possible traps and who will retrieve the target?" He laughed, grinning at the two of them. He knew neither of their quirks though he'd met Berker before in the hallway. Matt was a mystery to him though. He stood up straight and stretched his fingers. "I'm a walking army. My quirk lets me create bones out of surfaces within two degrees of separation of myself, I can animate them as well. I've also begun producing this blue flame out of my body... it has healing properties but spreads as wildly as normal fire... not super useful yet! BAHAHAHAHA!" He burst out laughing.
"My quirk gives me strength, but that's a side effect," He popped his neck, and bent his knees, charging a powerful jump. "I don't know if there's a second entrance into the underbelly so we might not want to waste time, we can hamper them in the hallways..." He tensed his legs a bit more and held his arms out behind him. "...either of you any good at keep away?" He joked, nodding at them. "Either way, grab on, we're gonna get in there." He shot them both a wild, if a little crazy, smile. Rescues were supposed to be surgical, but they also relied on speed. Yasashi didn't have stealth in the traditional sense so he'd have to rely on his quirk more than ever. He squinted across the platform and frowned, considering his opponents.
He'd never faced Karen in a fight, but he knew she was absolutely no slouch and would likely be his primary opponent if it came down to a fight. The trick would be avoiding her as much as possible. As for Honey and Kumoko. Both of them were easily startled and likely a good target for the way his quirk struck terror. However... both of them were experts at moving in tight spaces. Honey was small, fast, and had excellent instincts. Kumoko could produce a rescue team's worst nightmare in the form of that webbing. They were a formidable team just the two of them. He'd need to understand his comrades quirks as fast as possible.

If she had to describe what she was feeling at this moment, the best word was probably deja vu. Many months ago when the school year started the first memorable exercise she could remember was a friendly game of capture the flag. And given the mechanics of today's event, what they were about to do wasn't really too different, give or take a few extra steps and twists. Given how things turned out last time she was both confident and also a bit skeptical. Unlike before there are traps now. There was probably a whole bunch of measures against people simply flying over the containers to make a beeline for the cargo area. Fortunately she was blessed with potentially amazing teammates. In fact at first glance there was a strong semblance to her old team. There was Honey with a Squirrel Quirk who she assumed would be good at climbing, mirroring Isaac's role back then. And then there was Kumoko with a Spider Quirk whom she figured possessed some ranged options and grabbing things from afar much like Hanami did. Well she had a bunch of new tricks of her own compared to back then but it was an amusing coincidence to have this similar set up today. "Glad to be working with you today Honey-kun and Kumoko-kun~"She would say before listening to the thoughts shared. Honey didn't have much to share, simply wanting to know if they had any ideas. As for Kumoko, the spider girl seemed to be more partial to a cautious approach to this rescue. On Karen's part that wasn't entirely wrong but she thought it wouldn't be good either if they easily gave up their speed and mobility advantage. Perhaps there was a way to balance both. The same tactic they did before might actually work here. But first a little demonstration. "My quirk is fairly straightforward. I emit an aura that allows me to fly at high speed. It also serves as a protective shield. I can share my aura to anyone and anything I'm in contact with which means I can protect you just by touching you. Sadly it doesn't provide me with offensive capabilities on its own so I make up for that with skill."She paused for a moment to allow them to digest the information. That they had someone on the team who could 'create mass' in this case webs, meant that the options for sharing her aura increased drastically. If they linked each other with webs for instance, she could cover everyone with her aura for as long as they stayed connected. She couldn't ask for a better lineup. "While I don't think a cautious approach is bad, we probably shouldn't forgo our speed advantage altogether. I propose a two-prong approach. I can carry Kumoko-kun ahead through the deck and see how far we can go until we reach the entrance to the lower area. I'll be counting on your sharp senses to help us get through or avoid traps on the way."
"As for Honey-kun, I'd like for you to make your way up on top of the containers and find a path through there while keeping an eye out for the other team from above. This would allow us to secure at least two routes of retreat after retrieving the rescue target. The top route is actually more important because if we can secure that then I can just fly us all over on the return trip."
"What do you think?"She wanted everyone to play a role as much as possible and this was the best arrangement she could think of in terms of splitting up their forces. A three way split simply diminished their power too much. The other option was to not split up at all, but she was the type who preferred to cover as many bases as she could.

"2! 1! Aaaaand... Go!" As the teacher declared the beginning of the event, the flying platforms would set into gaps in the ship's hull, clearly made for them. A glowing red border at the edge of each turned blue, as though to emphasize... That it was time to go! But as one set of engines died down, the sound of another roaring to life could be heard. It would be louder for the red team, who stood atop a tower well above the engine room. But rather than propel the ship forward, what this engine was meant for was clear- The ship itself began to rock, as though tossed by ocean waves. It would not be a significant threat to the challenger's balance, but added yet another complication to the scenario.
That aside, the first objective was hardly complicated. Blank-sensei had entered the bowels of the ship, and there was only one entrance! After all, punching through the hull was... Well, they were welcome to try, but they would find that the frame of the ship was well made. The path was slightly more complicated for the red team atop the tower than it would be for blue- While both teams had to make their way through a field of containers, the red team also had to descend the tower. Of course, given Karen's quirk, and the other two's not-insignificant mobility, they should not find this a problem. Rather, it seemed likely that this was why they had been placed up there, to allow them to show off this mobility. Furthermore, while once more trivialized by their mobility, the entrance of the ramp faced towards the blue team- While they would still arrive first due to their speed, it would not be such a blowout as to leave their foes no chance.
However, the event had just begun, and the action belonged to the students! With many tools at their disposal... Would they rush straight for the prize? Would they split up to more effectively search? Perhaps even start arranging the storage containers they had available, so as to prepare for the eventual retreat... Assuming they managed to secure the payload. Cameras followed the student's every move. It was time... For things to begin!

Oh, oh she got too far ahead again like her mother said she would. She remembered the sighing and squinting but thank god her dad was there. "Oh, oh! I am a squirrel, I mean that was obvious, which is why I didn't say much." She said and with a pout, she looked at Kumoko as her answer felt like a no for jumping off the bridge and getting onto the sort of ground level. Hm, where to begin. It did not matter because well she got what she meant, but to Honey, who had no issues of nerves, it was all just a big game and time to have fun. Maybe slightly to show off, she looked at Karen who explained her quirk, even though she met Karen twice before she had never asked or maybe simply forgotten to pay attention before, which did sound like her. But she listened to Karen and nodded, that idea was nice, "That means I can jump off right?" She said happily in her matching yellow and orange outfit, her skin was almost the same golden brown so it wasn't that it made her stand out more. Though she did take a thing in mind with what Kumoko said, her hearing and eyesight were kind of sharper because she was a squirrel so she would have to pay attention for what she was doing too. She nodded, alright it was time to go.
She took a few steps back, sort of activated the flight ability within her suit and took a little run to the edge that had turned blue and simply jumped off, she soared a little before making it to the first cargo box and land on it, not too flattering as she simply fell on her stomach. Her landings definitely needed to be more practiced but she made it. She remained on her stomach for a bit, trying to listen if she heard anything, not that she expected something within but on the outside, maybe. Not shortly after she scrambled herself upright and headed over to the cargo box on her left, the one in the middle that stuck out a little to go and run to the formation that was after that, with a little jump she hoped she could manage to get across that little point and move her way forward to the seven in the second row from where she came from. This was fun!

Matt flushed a bit. Yasashi's Quirk was... intense. Well, at first, the mere fact that the young man's face was marked with blue flame was wild and really sick! Wasn't blue flame supposed to be hotter than red flame? Is that a true statement, or did he make that up from the back of his mind? Truth be told, Matt probably wouldn't remember after this match to actually look it up and find out... But then both of his teammates responded to his strategy with positive feedback! Hey, that's good, this might actually work then!
"Keep-Away is specialty, Yasashi-san! I make barrier and weapon out of thin air with word, so I good at blocking off sections and preventing movement." Man,, Word Warrior was going to be freaking dope in these thin hallways huh? Matt was happy he would be useful at least... but the cameras were low key freaking him out. Could he live up to the pressure? Could anyone? Matt... Well, he wasn't sure, but he gripped his fists and waited for the final cue.
With the resounding noise, Matt leaped into action. Literally. Wrapping his arms around Yasashi's waist, and holding on tight, Matt began to chant quietly to himself in English.
"O! never say that I was false of heart, Though absence seemed my flame to qualify. As easy might I from myself depart As from my soul, which in thy breast doth lie: That is my home of love; if I have ranged, Like him that travels, I return again, Just to the time, not with the time exchanged, So that myself bring water for my stain."
The words at this point were symbolic, a way to warm up the mouth to speak freely and without hesitation if the moment called for it. Barriers were going to be extremely and vitally useful in the lower passages of the ship; a mouth that stuttered or slipped would not be good for Matt's team at all. While Matt gripped on tight to prepare for the flying sensation he was about to feel, a strange thought struck him; was this exhilarating?
A weird question to ask before anything happened, Brain. But... yeah, there's a thrill in the air. Maybe I do like this Hero stuff... Well, let's see if we can't win this and make sure Mom and Dad know that I can be a winner!
Wow, kid sure had some pent-up mommy AND daddy issues. Hopefully losing wouldn't be that big of a deal... But, knowing Matt, he'd probably take it hard. Well, at least now, he can experiment and see what Word Warrior could do!

Kumoko listened as Karen explained her quirk. Ooh, an aura? And she can fly? That's so cool! And there was more she could do with her quirk. Kumoko smiled as she listened to the things Karen could do. With Honey and Karen, their team was sure to put up a great fight! She just hoped that she would not disappoint too much. It would suck to have two stars be dragged down by a third wheel. And a clumsy one at that.
Okay, gods, universe, whatever is out there, I have no idea what I've done to upset you and cause me to be cursed with this extreme clumsiness of mine. But please, I'll do anything to not slip up and trip and crash, just this once! If not for me, then at least for my teammates. They deserve a teammate that isn't horrifically incompetent.
The spider-headed girl then listened to Karen's suggestion. The girl did bring up a good point. Playing it safe was all well and good, but it would be a shame to not take advantage of the fact that everyone on the team was fast. Kumoko was fine with the girl's suggestion of carrying Kumoko while the spider-headed girl used her enhanced senses to watch out for any traps. "It's a fine plan. I have no qualms with it." It seemed Honey had no problem with it either, or at least with the part of getting to jump down from the tower. Honestly, if Kumoko was not feeling nervous, then she would share a similar sentiment.
And with that, it was finally time to move out! The whole ship began to sway slightly, as though it were out on the ocean. Kumoko liked this little attention to detail. It made the whole thing feel more realistic. As Honey jumped off the tower to move out, Kumoko would descend in a different matter. She would either let Karen carry her down, or she would get down the tower by gently walking down the side of it and then let Karen grab her once she had reached the bottom. Either way, Kumoko would not need to worry about running around. At least, not yet.
In the meantime, Kumoko would do her job and use her spider legs to hear as much of the surrounding area as she could. She could not pick up on anything that was further than about five or so meters away, but at least she could hear anything suspicious within that radius. The spider girl kept her six eyes open as well, looking around to hopefully spot any detail that seemed out of place. If there was some kind of trap among the containers, or if there was someone hiding in or around them, Kumoko was determined to pick up on it and alert Karen. That way, she could avoid any danger.
Hopefully this will all be smooth sailing. Of course, things were bound to happen soon, but until then, Kumoko hoped that there was either no trouble around just yet, or no trouble that could escape her senses.

It was one surprise after another with this competition. Just like Berker never expected a ship, he never expected them to make it as realistic as this! Ship's rocking was really amazing. How much they care for detail was amazing. Thankfully it wouldn't be a problem for him but he still appreciated as he watched it rock. Sadly he didn't had enough time to admire it more. Berker quickly turned into Monkey form and explained his quirk as fast and as simple as possible to Taka. "Monkey transformation. Athletic, strong and though. Just don't step on my tail please and don't let them step on it." and then he showed the staff he's holding "Can extend it to 2 meter or shrink it to 1 meter. Good at hitting stuff." that was all he could say for now. He didn't waste precious time by going into detail. Not like there was anything to go into. He was just a monkey after all...
At first Berker was skeptic when he said grab on. Could he really throw or carry both of them? or did he meant something else but Berker didn't understand? Sadly there was no time to question. As Matt hug Taka, Berker could only laugh at him and grab Taka's arm. While Berker hold Taka with his right hand, he grabbed his staff with his left hand as tight as he can.
He didn't know where Taka would take them but he guessed he'd take them close to stairs. Only thing he could do know is land and see where he is. From now on he could start to formulate what he can do.

Yasashi's smile widened little by little while Matt spoke. So he could produce protective and preventative barriers with his quirk. That was helpful! Icy blue eyes squinted against the blazing artificial lights and he could feel the pressure of the moment beating down on his shoulders. Or maybe that was Matt wrapping his arms around his waist. He popped his neck, clenching his fists a bit tighter. "I'm going to attempt to get us a head start. Keep them behind us and watch out for the small one, she's tricky..." He chortled, rolling his shoulders one more time and taking a deep breath through his nostrils. His eyes flicked toward Berker. Useful, and reasonable. He was short spoken which was good in a situation like this, but the guy needed to show some more enthusiasm. He sniffed; he supposed it was up to him then.
With the clear consent of his two comrades, Yasashi did exactly as he had intended. All of his tremendous strength burst through his legs, kicking off against the platform the instant the GO signal was given. A shove from a bit of bone platform beneath his feet added just a little bit more force, propelling the three of them into the air with a whoop and hollar from Yasashi. "BA HA HA HA HA! COWER AND FLEE VILLAINS! TARTARUS IS HERE!" Yasashi bellowed, a wild grin on his face and an almost manic glint in his eyes. The wind whipped and whirled around him. "Matt friend! I hope your barrier can help with the landing! Once I separate from the ground I can't produce bones on nearby surfaces!" He admitted, probably something he should have said earlier, but no matter! He bellowed out another laugh as they hurtled headlong toward a set of storage crates near the stairs leading down. He cursed a bit, he'd hoped he could put out enough to get them all the way there but this would have to do.
As they neared the crates, Yasashi began to form boots made of bone around his feet and supports up his legs to prevent a sprain or fracture. What he needed now more than ever was something to decelerate them just a little! He readied for impact; if Matt or Berker managed to ease their descent he'd kick off the crate, forcing one more leap to get them to the stairs. If not, he'd have to hope that the crate wasn't booby trapped and they had enough time to scramble down and into the area below. | TAG WORDS NOTES

It seemed everyone was on board with the plan which was good. She had been willing to make some compromises but the initial version was the simplest. If they had more time she would have discussed with her teammates if either of them knew what sort of quirks the other team had. She was only aware of Yasashi's. But apparently they didn't really have the luxury of talking for long. With the teacher signalling the start of the event, everyone got into position. "Perfect. Let's all do our best!~"Grabbing Kumoko from behind, she gave her teammate a lift down from the tower, sticking close to the deck as planned. She decided to take the right side, flying past the containers there and seeing the straight path ahead. Or at least it looked that way. Kumoko was keeping an eye out but Karen herself was suspicious of the containers on their left, thinking that if anything was going to pop out to hinder them, that was the most like direction it would come from. Ideally she would like to gain control of the center area leading below deck before their opponents could get there. If something stopped them here, she could only hope Honey was having an easier time up top. "As soon as the entrance to the lower deck is in view, I'm heading straight in. With any luck we'll get there first~"

The competition was off to s a strong start, each team bursting into action- And using their fastest member to carry along less agile teammates. However, it was clear that the red team held the advantage- Not only were they faster overall, but the blue team relied on a single member to carry all three of their weight. As strong as Yasashi was, it was inevitable that the red team would fall behind... A factor the committee had considered when assigning the starting points. Even if the flight ability of team red trivialized their having started at the highest point on the ship, the entrance to the ship's interior lay closer to team blue. Yet Hoshizora's speed seemed greater than the team had accounted for- Even at every disadvantage, she seemed likely to reach first.
But the students being stronger than expected was always a cause for celebration! Which was why it was with great pleasure that the masked man in his hidey hole pressed the big red button which would begin harassing the teams... He had promised booby traps, after all! Ah, but it wouldn't be fair if they only hit one team, now, would it? Eh, but doesn't that defeat the purpose, you might ask? Nonsense! The purpose is to allow the students to show off! What are they showing if it's clearly intentionally easier for one team? The proximity to the entrance was as much favoritism as he would give!
Having monologued to a nonexistent audience, the teacher would nod as he admired his handiwork.
The doors to several of the supposedly empty cargo containers swung open, revealing decidedly not empty interiors. Was the setting really that the pirates had set up these booby traps? Would they really have had time to replace the contents of the cargo with... The gleaming, metal points of what were clearly some form of missile. And with a roar, they kicked to life, soaring out and circling above the crowd- Six projectiles for six students. In unison, the missiles would lock on to their targets, spiraling back in. Of course, the school had carefully prepared these based on their metrics for each student- While they would likely be inconvenient, it was doubtful to be dangerous.
However, where things got interesting, was that some students were hanging on to others! Gathering the missiles in one point would increase the power of the booby trap, to be sure... But it was also easier to defend a single point, than three separate ones! The teacher truly looked forward to seeing how the students fared.
