Geist gave both teams very little time to both introduce themselves and plan for the incoming game, a gunshot sounding off before Jun could get any more words in. It didn't scare the girl, but what surprised her most was Shrike's overflowing energy to scout ahead! The crystal girl couldn't help but chuckle slightly at her tiny legs, thinking to herself that it'd take a much longer time to get around because of it. The game would surely be over by the time she makes it into the hotel!
Focusing in once more, Jun would nod to Relena,"Yeah, I'll cover you. I'm not usually one for teaming up, but if it gives us the best chance of winning, I'm in." She'd look to Noriko before giving her a thumbs up with her huge, sugary hands,"We'll come runnin' if someone is bugging you."
Taking a step towards her blonde partner, she'd put a hand on her shoulder,"Let's not waste time then. I'll race ya~" After declaring the race, Jun would take off towards the North side of the hotel. Assuming Relena would follow, the competitive spirit of the girl would push her to go the fastest she could, though the crystalline gauntlets that consumed her hands made it a bit awkward to run,"I'm warning you now- I'm punching the first person I see!" Jun would call back to her partner, grinning at the thought of the upcoming battle. She always was someone who enjoyed the adrenaline that would rush through her veins in a fight, especially now that U.A. was watching.
"Not hard enough to break bones, of course!" Relena herself didn't seem like she was very keen on nearly breaking any rules, so it would be left to Jun to do the majority of it. The taller girl was truthful when she said she would hold back, though, and would try to soften her blows as best she could with the gauntlets still formed strongly over her fists.

Shiko nodded and gave Arisu and Owen a thumbs-up before she too began to jog a little bit into the interior of the hotel. That was allowed, right? Geist never said anything else about preparing themselves. She herself began to wonder when the event was about to start. It would really be a shame if it had started al-
BANG!
Shiko instantly covered her ears at the percussive intruder! Were guns really this loud?! She always knew that people had to wear hearing protection for them but she never thought it would be anything like this! The yellow kid more akin to some kind of savage began to lash out at the noise, using his impressive strength to move like he weight nothing while Shiko found herself forgetting to move.\
Looking around she began to think of ways that she could hide, but none of them were really as great as she had hoped. Running forward, she knew that she really couldn't go high like Ung had. She would need to go low! Nearing one shelves/desks/sofas facing towards the direction that she had come from, she would flatten herself against the wood, folding and unfolding bits of her body so that she could stay nearly flat against its surface. She began to think of the holes in her own plan, worrying that she made the wrong choice. Perhaps she should have gone with Arisu's original plan! Maybe even Ung's! She didn't know what she was getting herself into!

--- arisu --- - - -
"Exactly. It means that we get, at worst, an even fight, and any deviation just improves our odds." Arisu nodded firmly, quirking a bit of a grin at Owen's comment about an ambush. That very much sounded like an excellent plan. "Okay. Stay here with me, but do me a favor- act like I need protecting, okay? The more vulnerable they -think- I am, the better off we'll be, I think." She did her best not to do more than nod as Owen noted his antlers- it'd be poor form to start making puns in the middle of an exercise, and besides, she'd rather not piss off the guy she was trusting to back her up for the first few moments once their offensive team made it here.
The gunshot, however, terrified Ung- or something- and spurred him into aggressive howling and whomping as he raced off into the interior and vanished up a banner of some sort. Shiko was on his heels before long, which Arisu noted immediately. If their approach came from the other side of the building, they'd need to make it known quickly, so they got their backup back before they could be overwhelmed. It left Arisu pondering just how clever her plan was really going to turn out to be, but for now? She trusted her teammates to conceal themselves and spring the trap once it was time to do so.
She did her best to control her breathing and relax. She needed to save her energy for the fight, once it arrived. She also needed to think about the sorts of things they'd have to be concerned about. Noriko's quirk was pretty apparent- she was a big lizard. She wasn't sure what that entailed, exactly, but it was either impressive strength, or some other reptilian features, and she didn't like the lack of info on that front. Sadly, it got worse before it got better. Relena and Jun weren't really well known to her either, but she did know that the little one was... well, little. Harder to spot, but not necessarily weaker or stronger for it. She'd have to just try to adapt as new facts became available.
Arisu settled herself cattycorner to Owen, making sure that whatever the pedestal and briefcase blocked visually for one of them was visible to the other. She didn't know how fast Momoko was, didn't know if she had any ranged talents, or stealthy tricks, but she did know that she didn't want the case to leave her sight or Owen's, and if she was gonna have two pairs of eyes here, she intended to put them to good use.
"Eyes up, okay? Between the two of us, we should have pretty much every approach covered. Say if you see something- anything. I'd rather hear about twenty leaves blowing past than miss the hint that we're about to get attacked, you know?" Her tone was tense, but not stern. She was on edge, that was clear, but she wasn't putting any added pressure on Owen, just sharing her insights as best she could. On the plus side, the anxiety kept her sharp and alert, and might give her an edge to noticing anybody sneaking towards the briefcase... maybe. It'd all depend, after all- diligence only went so far, and if a truly sneaky individual were to move in, they might make it to the case unnoticed, but the moment that case moved, it'd be a red alert and time to run for sure for anyone unlucky enough to have that job.

As it turned out, Momoko did get a reason to change their plans. Namely, the ungodly screams and banging that echoed from the building shortly after the gun had been fired. The small girl could guess which member of the opposing team it had belonged to, even if she didn't recognize the voice. The sponge person had made Momoko feel nervous as it was, and this certainly didn't help with that preconception.
Because of this, she had approached her chosen entryway with more care, stopping to take a small peek inside from behind the doorway. There were a lot of structures that unfortunately prevented Momoko from looking over them due to her size. But the smaller side had its own peculiarities: it was because of this more narrow perspective that Momoko was always very thorough when it came to looking upwards as opposed to any other direction. The yellow abnormality that hung above the banners towards the end of the lobby became quickly obvious, and Momoko's peeking head would retreat immediately as her brain recognized this. That sudden nervousness from mere moments ago flashed through her body once more. Momoko was sneaky because of her size, but even she didn't think that she could fool a bird's eye view. She should have been faster with her takeoff. Going through the lobby seemed like a really poor option now.
"...where are the others?" Momoko's peek had been brief so she couldn't be certain, but could it be that they were all in there somewhere? That would have certainly been convenient, which is why Momoko was quick to dismiss this idea. "No one has come this way though..."
It was too early to jump into conclusions. Conclusions would have to be reached based on more information on the situation. Information acquired by the scout!
"Yosh!"
Momoko would retreat from the entryway a little to be able to hop down to the front of the front stairwell without it being visible to the lobby, and would start to make her way towards the assumed position of the enemy team's pedestal from there, hugging the wall as much as she could. Before reaching the corner of the building, however, the sounds of a conversation would become audible to her. She could only make out the person saying something about leaves for now, which must have been the girl who wasn't Shiko. The small girl would quietly climb over the small fence that lay beneath the hotel's broken windows, settling herself among the wild undergrowth of what must have been a small little flowerbed as she attempted to hear out more people, namely Owen and/or Shiko.

Everything considered, Owen was feeling pretty relaxed. Sure, this could make or break his chances at gaining the notoriety that he needed, but being all tense and such wouldn't help that. If he wanted to look as cool as possible, he had to win without looking like he was actually trying, and he was already pretty confident that he was going to win. I mean, one of the opponents was as small as a bug! What was she going to do? Well, she would actually probably be useful going up against a team trying to use stealth to get the drop on their opponents like they were. Okay, now that Owen thought about it, she could actually be pretty effective, possibly even the player in this match that totally disrupted their plans. But hey, they still had Owen, and that crazy sponge guy. What were the chances they'd ever lose a physical encounter? The ambush was simply to make sure they would manage the opponents as quickly as possible before moving to take the victory. Yeah, definitely.
Owen glanced over his shoulder as Arisu settled into her position and spoke to the antlered boy, instructing him to do the exact opposite of what he was doing right now. "Right, I'm on it." He turned his attention back to his side, scanning the environment before him and keeping an eye out for any disturbances. Despite his focus on tracking any movement on his end, the tall young man retained his calm, confident grin, not betraying a single ounce of doubt that his team could possibly lose.
He was well aware, however, that he would likely miss any sighting of the tiny person on their opponent's team, or possibly even that lizard girl if she had some sorta camouflage like a chameleon. Though, if they were, they clearly weren't making their move just yet. Possibly scouting them out? That'd make sense if they had such stealth capabilities. If that were the case, Owen decided to see about playing a little game of misinformation. "Doubt we'll be at this for long, yeah? Bet ye the others'll wipe their defense in the blink of'n eye. 'Specially with that surprise they got cooked up." Owen ended his falsified statement with a gentle elbow to Arisu's side, likely lacking any meaning without the context that Arisu had. She knew the others were aiming to ambush the opponents' offense team the moment they attacked, but whatever plan the opposing force may have had could end up being interrupted if they were fed the misinformation that their offense group was rushing their defense with some sort of unknown, dangerous tactic. He just hoped Arisu caught onto this. She seemed bright enough to know that Owen wasn't that dull, and that just because they couldn't see the enemy didn't mean they weren't being listened to.
Though Owen had started out pretty comfortable with their chances, the continued silence began to drill into him, planting small seeds of doubt. Just what did the opponents have planned for them? What if one of the ones whose Quirks he didn't know could somehow silence both him and Arisu, preventing them from signaling for the ambush, or possibly even to each other? The urge to look over his shoulder and check on his partner was beginning to really nag at him, but he did his best to remain steadfast and continue scanning his side. Though his smile didn't waver for even a moment, his eyes betrayed just the smallest tinge of worry.

❝You're showing me colours of the sky, But all I see is Grey❞ 280 w. Capture the briefcase kenjutsu-f | reinforcement-f | radiant dawn-e Relena couldn't help but grin at Jun. The girl's optimism was quite commendable and at least a tiny bit infectious, as it also seemed to boost Relena's own sour mood. At the concept of a race, the blonde nodded and sprinted after the sugar quirk hero in training. The two were fairly even in terms of speed and Relena let out a small chuckle at Jun's comment.
"Hey, I wouldn't have it any other way. Go full out on these guys, you hear? Even if you break something, Nurse Nimue-sensei is amazing at what she does. You'll just have to deal with Geist-sensei's wrath but...worth it?"
As the two would come upon the door, Relena would rest her arm against the door's frame. Looking inside, she wouldn't be able to spot anything out of the ordinary. That is, until she would hear the loud screech that would come from Ung. She narrowed her eyes in concentration, unsure at the strategy the other team would employ.
"Alright, Shrike hasn't called out to us. So we can assume that they aren't coming from the south yet. They might be waiting to strike in the hotel or around their own briefcase."
Relena clutched her bokken, fully prepared in case of an attack. Her Kenjutsu training would give her the awareness of the area in case of a sneak attack, so she hoped that would be enough.
"Jun, keep an eye on me. I'm going to try and bait whoever might be in here. You see someone...you smash them. Please don't let me die in there. Gomen."
And with that, Relena would carefully walk into the hotel with slow, cautious steps. Her hand still clutching her weapon at the ready.

And just like that, they were gone, leaving Noriko to stand sentinel by the case on her own. Which was well enough, of course, she was happy to do her part if it meant that she was contributing to the team. But that raised the question of how she wanted to go about doing that, didn’t it? Standing behind the pedestal was the easiest answer, as it reduced her chances of being caught unaware and having the briefcase taken while she was looking somewhere else to practically zero. However, being in front would also mean that the briefcase would be almost entirely shielded from view, concealed behind her sheer size.
On the other hand, though, she could take the more reptilian approach and drop down to a more quadrupedal position. They already knew how tall she was, but she was sure fewer were aware of how long she was when she stretched herself out. Perhaps making herself look longer i.e. bigger, the other team might think twice about coming at her? Plus, it would help her conserve energy until it was really needed. Weighing all three options in her head, Noriko eventually settled on the third, and slowly sank to her belly and curled around the pedestal protectively. Like this, she almost looked like a dragon!
And as she waited for her opponents to come, she reviewed the other team, and what could be inferred. The two most obvious contenders were the yellow one and the horned one: the former bore no resemblance to anything she could identify at the moment, but he did have a weapon with him, which made him not to be underestimated; the latter was probably some sort of goat or deer-type mutation, with horns that were definitely something to be wary of. The other two were… harder to read. Neither of them was in her class, which meant that she was inherently at a disadvantage when it came to guessing their Quirks. By that same token, though, hopefully most of Red Team didn’t know Jun or Tsuruya’s Quirks, leaving them on roughly an equal playing field.
Well, ideally, anyway. Time would only tell how that panned out.

The Paleolithic sponge was quite content at his current poaching spot, keeping a watchful eye over the floor below him. A keen hunter, the prehistoric invertebrate was likely to notice the slightest movement, ready to jump at the first sign of his prey. However trying to spot someone as small as Momoko was a tad difficult, Ung not noticing the mouse sized enemy until several seconds after she had noticed him. A cloth wasn’t exactly the greatest hiding spots in retrospect, given to ever shifting movements caused by Ung’s clinging onto it. If anything, its main usefulness was due to pure absurdity, rather than legitimate camouflage. And although Momoko’s diminutive size was still unable to fool a bird’s eye view, it’s not like Ung was able tell if she had spotted him. The sponge wouldn’t have even thought about it until he recognized the flash of nervousness coursing through her, quite similar to many a doe having realized the club wielding hunter was to end their life.
Granted, this meant very little to Ung. He didn’t really care that she was nervous, and hardly viewed the petite girl as a threat. There was no use flopping down and playing Whack-a-Mole, as her size left her at a considerable advantage when fighting Ung. Someone a bit more evolved could’ve realized that Momoko was utilizing her size to help scout the competition, but Ung was unable to think that far ahead. It didn’t matter that he knew she knew of his location, as it would influence nothing at all. Ung would be content hanging in his crimson hammock, awaiting a more “worthy” foe to drop down upon. He wasn’t in any sort of hurry after all, this brief wait paling in comparison to some of his hunts. If Ung could wait hours for the perfect deer, Ung could wait a few extra minutes for another foe to pop in.

It was always a welcome surprise when others met her mischievous remarks with their own, but it was quite shocking to see someone as prim and proper as Relena egging the delinquent on. She had said it with the intention of teasing her, but the mention of Jun 'going all out' brought a pink hue to the girls cheeks. Masking it quickly with a chuckle and a grin as her rarely-anxious blue eyes darted around, the crystalline girl would look to the girl matching her speed,"I think you just wanna see me at full force, princess~" Giving the blonde a flirtatious wink as she desperately tried to pretend as if she was in control of her own flustered emotions, Jun would stop with her partner at the entrance as she peered in. The delinquent would look in herself with the help of her superior height, the long legs she blessed her father for able to help her glance in right over the blonde's head. And it looked... well...
Quiet.
"I don't think we'd hear it even if Shrike called out to us." Another jab at the tiny girl's height was whispered to her partner as she watched the blonde cautiously plan. If it was true that the other team would be guarding their own briefcase, it put the duo at an advantage. More defense meant their offense lacked, and they had to take charge of that if they were to win this battle. Jun, simmering down to a much more serious girl, nodded as Relena entered through the hotel's main entrance to investigate the room. The crystalline girl would do as she was told, as she was never one to deny a beautiful girl's request, and now leaned against the doorway with the same caution as the girl who previously held the space had. It was shocking how easily the blonde was to get along with, and planning was typically the much more forward girl's expertise. She somehow ended up the one surrounded by the kids that didn't happen to exactly excel at academics, but Jun wasn't one to judge. Much.
Waiting for some sort of signal to charge with baited breath, the ravenette would stretch and extend her the fingers encased in sugar crystals in the meantime. They'll have to be just as prepped as herself if there was a battle on the horizon, regardless of who it was they were going to be up against. Whether it be the deer boy or the plain black-haired girl, Jun would have her rather intimidatingly-large fists at the ready.

If Shiko was going to be honest she was thinking that Ung would have the sense to go full primal on anyone that might have started their way into the center of the hotel. So, while he might have noticed her toy-sized roommate, Shiko would be none-the-wiser. In fact, she would mull through her head that the lot of them were probably taking a different path to the briefcases, surely leaving Ari-chan and that deer-kid to fend for themselves! If that happened the team's loss would be all on her!
Shiko steadied herself. Now was not the time for that! Thankfully for her, when she really wanted to, the thumping of a heart nor the sound of breathing would get in her way if she really wanted to listen to the sound of the room around her. She hated it, too. The quiet was such a disturbing thing to her. Not even the sound of a faulty air conditioner to giver her at least a little bit of white noise. She could swear up and down it was quiet enough for her to hear the lightest disturbance of the cloth Ung hung from, but it was probably just her imagination running wild.
The folds of her papery body began to tense a little bit, something akin to an ache. She never did really like being still for long. Even if 'long' was actually a relatively short amount of time. She began to move, just a little bit. Killing two birds with one stone, she moved her head just barely around the shelves of plants that she was pressed against so that she could see around them, She cringed as she heard parts of her crinkle and scratch against the wooden surface, and hoped that she was merely exaggerating the noise in her own mind, but it would not be those that would catch her attention most of all.
As quickly and quietly as she could, Shiko would return the position that she was hiding in before at the moment that she could hear the soft footsteps. Those tiny thumps. She tried to hazard a guess that it might have been the big lizard girl that she knew was on the other team, thinking that the slower pace was indicative of a longer stride. But couldn't it have been someone just walking slow? Those footsteps didn't sound heavy at all. One part of her even thought to jump them, and she was almost jumpy enough to go for it, but the more reasonable side of her brain ruled out. The plan was to ambush and surround, though, she doubted that Ung really cared about more than the first part of that statement.

--- ARISU --- -better than watching paint dry- Arisu was blissfully unaware that she was being observed, but she was conscious of the fact it could be happening. Still, she hadn't really considered active attempts at misdirection until Owen made a blatantly inaccurate comment- and then elbowed her to let her know that it was a ruse. Her eyes widened slightly before she narrowed her expression again, wanting to be sure her voice matched her word choices correctly. "Shut up! No more tactics talk, I don't want to be overheard." Wink. Still... when nothing at all happened afterwards, not inside or outside or anything from Ung or Shiko or... anything whatsoever, Arisu got fidgety and nervous. Had her plan been a bad one? Should they regroup? She was concerned at having had no contact on either front yet, and glanced back at the pedestal to reassure herself that they hadn't already been hoodwinked. "Ugh. Seriously, though, I wish they'd just get here. Do you think any of them have ranged quirks? The longer we stand here, the more nervous I am that they're gonna jump us. You'll handle any melee fighters, right?" Her voice low- but not TOO low. She was just playing his game, after all- and you have to be overheard for that game to play out properly. -doesn't notice momoko because... tiny in a flowerbed not in immediate view -squints at Owen funny until he elbows her and makes it clear he's dropping false hints --"Shut up! Owen's comment on the current situation confirmed his presence at the scene. This "surprise" he spoke of was something of a mystery, but Momoko could only assume that it had something to do with the Sponge's setup in the hotel. It was an ambush for sure, but the small girl failed to see how that would exactly "wipe their defenses". But Shiko remained to be an unknown factor. Whether she was helping Ung with the ambush or serving as the Red Team's own surveyor was up in the air, and that was concerning.
An even better question was: what exactly was Momoko going to do with this information? If those two were just going to stay there, then there was nothing she could really do at the moment. The "surprise" seemed to be a threat only if someone entered the hotel, whereas Momoko's team had agreed to be on the defensive. Shouting about such a non-immediate threat would only compromise her own position. As such, she concluded that it was probably the best to continue scouting until the ambush-makers got too frustrated and went on a haphazard offensive. Scouting would continue. Momoko decided to double-check the interior one last time before further decisions. She walked over to the northern wall within the fenced area, making a very small leap to catch onto one of the edge between the spindels beneath the broken windows. She glanced inside as she was getting a better foothold and rising up.
The windows didn't lead to the lobby, but instead to the ruins of a former lounge that showcased a similar disarray of filth and sparse furniture as the lobby had. There was a door on the northern wall which Momoko guessed lead back to the lobby itself. The small girl entered through one of the square frames of the broken window, surveying for any signs of her roommate just in case. She failed to find any such signs, and would quietly make her way towards the doors.

"Aye, sorry." Owen was glad that Arisu had caught on to his attempt at a ruse. He'd figured she was fairly smart, but still. If their roles were reversed he probably would have given an absent-minded "what?" in response. Hopefully that'd throw any sort of recon that their opponents had for a loop.
The excitement and intensity of their situation, waiting to be charged upon quickly dulled into a deep boredom and confusion as to where their opponents were. Had they taken extra time to figure out their own tactics? Had they encountered the other two inside the hotel already? No, if they had there would certainly be some noise coming from the building, especially with that crazy sponge guy. Unless, of course, one of their opponents had some sort of sound-cancelling Quirk. Owen was always worried about running into weird Quirks like that. He preferred his opponents fight with more straight-forward abilities like his own. He had hooves and antlers, that was all, aside from his antler cannon. Still, it'd probably be easier to just work under the assumption that they didn't have anything crazy like that. The scope of what weird Quirks they could have was too wide to really find any use in worrying about it. As far as he was concerned, they hadn't started a fight with the other two because he hadn't heard any noise come from the hotel.
Eventually, Arisu decided to share her thoughts on how terribly quiet things were for them. "Can't honestly say for sure. Only two've 'em were mutations, yeah? Other two could be some seriously wild stuff." Owen spoke at the same volume as Arisu, not really thinking about it. It took him a while to realize that she might be trying to continue to verbally confuse the enemy. "But aye, just keep yer distance an' I'll take on any melee fighters." She did say she wanted them to think she was vulnerable, right? "Long as I keep 'em off you, w-" He pretended to cut himself off before continuing. "Right, tactics talk, sorry." He faux-apologized, keeping his act up as his eyes scanned the area in front of him, waiting for any sight of their opponents.

❝You're showing me colours of the sky, But all I see is Grey❞ 317 w. Capture the briefcase kenjutsu-f | reinforcement-f | radiant dawn-e Relena's demeanor was starting to wear thin...much like her patience. She didn't want to be here at night at a disadvantage. The only thing she had to rely on personally was her bokken and that was something that she used purely for offensive purposes. Her martial art was supposed to be used defensively to end a fight as quickly as possible, but it also helped her to acknowledge her surroundings.
She knew that an ambush was set up here. There was no sound coming from inside the hotel, so they either were lurking around the briefcase or near the entrance to their base of operations. Relena narrowed her eyes in clear annoyance as she stepped into the hotel with Jun close behind. Her internal battery held enough solar power to produce maybe one or two hard light constructs safely, which should be a decent enough fall back in case things got difficult.
As she walked forward, Relena suddenly stopped moving. She tilted her head in Jun's direction and an evil grin spread across her face. The girl leaned in close and narrowed her eyes.
"Listen...we're stalling. They're stalling. This is just a game of cat and mouse, except that it's being played only by mice."
She gave her partner a sly wink. "So let's be cats. Meow?"
With that, Relena would hope that Jun would follow up with what she hinting at. Because it was crazy. And stupid. And crazy. The girl brandished her weapon tightly and burst into a full on sprint for the enemy team's entrance. She would keep her quirk power at the ready in case of an attack while tightly gripping her bokken to be ready to counter any close range strikes.
If Relena is not attacked at the doorway, then she would make a dash for the briefcase's pedestal. However, she would simply skid around the object to put it between her and the entrance of the hotel.

And so, while events were about to kick in high gear, Noriko continued to guard her team’s briefcase like a dragon with its money pile. Idly, she wondered how things were going. She hadn’t heard much commotion yet –and her classmates didn’t particularly seem like a very quiet bunch— so were they still doing recon, maybe? Where was the other team right now? What were they doing? Her own teammates had pretty much gotten the perimeter covered, from what it seemed like, but that didn’t mean there weren’t other ways to pass them without having to fight; she might not be the only one capable of climbing up and over the building.
She needed to pay attention, just in case someone burst out of the hotel, barreling towards her.
