Hair/Style: While he doesn’t have hair on his head, Ung is covered in brown fuzz, thickest on his hands, feet, and chest. A lighter fuzz covers his muzzle, similarly to a beard. He has a rather large unibrow as well.
Skin/Scars: Yellow and spongey to the touch, full of holes. Ung has a muzzle that has light brown skin as well.
Eyes: Beady blue pupils with large, circular eyes.

Notables: Ung looks like a living sponge, including an overbite of one square tooth and a rather large unibrow. He walks with a gait similarly to a gorilla, and his breath has a distinct “meaty” smell to it. 

APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY

Appearance:

Ung has quite the unique appearance, a strange amalgamation between sponge and caveman. His body is for all intents and purposes a yellow rectangle covered in spots. His body is completely porous, filled with numerous holes through out. Ung has large, baggy eyes, a noticeable contrast to his beady blue irises. He has a tan muzzle covered in small fuzzy hairs, alongside thicker darker hair that is around his hands, arms, and chest. A large tooth is present from outside his snout, which accented by a smattering of freckles near his cheeks. Ung’s arms are quite longer than his proportions would suggest, giving him a gorilla like walk that requires him to walk on all fours. Clothing isn’t a main concern of Ung, but he’s often seen wearing a simple brown garment outside of school. During school hours his uniform is surprisingly ironed, prim, and proper, although his unique walk often leaves it wrinkled by the end of the day. His heroic costume is pretty no frills, and is a simple orange garment with black triangles and fluffy blue tie. Ung does not wear shoes.

Personality:

Ung is simple. If Ung considers a person a friend, he’ll follow them to the stars and back. That being said, he’ll harbor one doozy of a grudge for anyone that would betray him. Ung isn’t one to give up, and would risk life and limb to PLUS ULTRA through whatever obstacle rather than give up. He’d give the loin cloth off his back for a stranger in need, and abhors the thought of ever having to be mean to another person. Despite his simple demeanor he’s quick to notice patterns, and has a surprisingly quick retention rate. Unfortunately his ways to express himself are limited, so this leads to people falsely assume he’s intolerably stupid. This isn’t to say he’s the next Einstein, but “average” is one hell of a bell curve for someone incapable of reading or writing.


Unfortunately Ung’s simplicity can cause him to get confused easily, and he’s sort of gullible to boot. This confusing often cascades into rage, with Ung having a short fuse that’s eager to blow. He’s not the thinking man’s sponge either, quite spontaneous and rarely thinks of the consequences of his actions.


As said before, Ung is simple. He holds fire and the sun in high regard, the latter worshipped as a literal deity in his home. The darkness, alongside the moon, is held in an opposite respect. He’s also fond of hitting things and finds nothing better to relieve stress than whacking around with a massive club. Ironically enough he’s into sophisticated art in jazz, although this doesn’t go any further than “pretty colors” and “pretty noise.” To expect refined comprehension from Ung would be a tad too much, as his refined palette is simply a case of coincidental irony.


Ung’s dislikes are as simple as his preferences. While he isn’t the brightest bulb, he understands when someone is talking down to him. Modern technology is too complicated for him, and can easily send him into a rage. The night, alongside the moon, is held to a similar regard as the sun and fire. However, this is the diety of death and suffering.

HISTORY

Ung’s family lineage is peculiar to say the least, the vast majority of his family sponges of some sort. The sole exception was his mother, who’s quirk caused her to resemble a giant boulder. His upbringing was fairly normal, his father an accomplished hunter known for the quality furs he provided to tailors. The Unga family lived quietly in a houseboat, surrounded by fellow Ungas who preferred to live a life of lily pad farming. It was a warm, loving environment filled with support, compassion, and any type of encouragement that could be spoken in five words or less. Despite his family’s technical prowess, none were particularly “book smart,” an issue that plagued Ung from adolescence. Children would torment the sponge relentlessly, whether it was his illiteracy, poor speaking patterns, strange appearance, or general lack of clothing outside of school. Although he was often at the tail end of each class, Ung would do astonishingly well in oral multiple choice tests, keeping him from being at the bottom of the classroom. Unfortunately this did little to combat the frequent torment, as the children simply used it to belittle the children behind Ung, wondering how they could be more “stupid than the dumb caveman.” This had lit a burning desire to prove these children wrong, and after passing through an oral exam for UA, the sponge was determined to show that he could become an accomplished hero, no matter the set backs his quirk has caused. This caused a surprising mixed reaction from his family, however, as no Unga had went out to do something this ambitious. Most settled for simple trade jobs, and this lead into s noticeable rift in the family. A rift that would go unspoken after it caused Ung’s parents to divorce, of course, as the rest of the family tried to come together in support after Ung’s mother left them. Armed with a club and a dream, Ung was determined to become a hero to prove the naysayers wrong, bring his mother home, and provide for his twelve younger siblings.
