She doesn't understand sarcasm or humor well and can come off as taciturn. Though she will hear out anything her peers have to say, Relena isn't a great conversationalist and can easily kill the mood in a room...which is quite upsetting to her, so she doesn't even bother too often unless someone approaches her first. She is an intelligent person who tends to keep to herself. She simply feels that if she cannot contribute anything important to a conversation, then she shouldn't speak at all. Most of her expression comes from her eyes that give off enough of a message to those that approach her, which is usually one of quiet disdain. When she does speak, her voice is clear and concise with nary a stutter or slur to be found. Relena keeps herself as presentable as possible, carrying an air of silent and graceful confidence in her steps. She is unsure how she feels about the golden glow that emits gently from her skin. On one hand, she thinks it's pretty but it also causes her to stick out in a crowd. In dangerous situations she is cool headed and analytical while prioritizing the lives of those around her, even above her own life. Relena is very stubborn, refusing to give up on anything she sets her mind to even if it means harming herself in the process. Her emotions, though often kept in check, can be quite explosive if Relena is pushed beyond her limits. Whether it be a fiery temper or an outburst of sadness, there is never subtlety when she loses control. As such, she doesn't beat around the bush. Relena speaks directly and skirts any awkwardness to get straight to the point of a topic so that she may finish with whatever assignment she is tasked with. So, it's not hard to imagine that Relena has no friends. Though somewhere pushed deep deep down, she yearns for friendship of some kind even if she won't admit it. | APPEARANCE HEIGHT: 154cm WEIGHT: 42kg HAIR/STYLE: She has long straw colored hair that is tied in a bun in the back, secured by a blue ribbon. Though a singular strand sticks up and hangs like a crescent shape. She doesn't scowl or ever show negativity in her expressions often, aside from mild disdain when distracted. She is easy to smile when the situation arises and has an open atmosphere about her, despite her serious and somewhat domineering nature. ❛❛Such Are The Twists Of Fate❜❜ |
HISTORY Relena was born January 30, 2056 during a tumultuous time in Tokyo. It was a time when quirks were becoming more and more common and crime was starting to run rampant. Her father was a beat cop who was used to dealing with common gutter trash, but quirkers were proving to be too much for common officers to handle. When Relena was born, her father made it his personal mission to rid the city of villains, but someone without a quirk would never stand a chance. He hated them with a passion for skirting the law without any recourse. His hatred for them became two fold when Relena's mother was robbed and murdered by a quirker. She barely knew her mother and it hurt to see how torn her father became. His mission became an obsession, leading to him quitting the police force and hunting quirk villains without any regard for his or Relena's life. It terrified the little girl to see how violent her dad behaved and he slowly descended into madness. He murdered without abandon, covering his traces as best he could. But his former police team mates would catch up with his reckless killing spree. Just before her fifth birthday, Relena had developed her quirk. When returning home from playing outside, she had noticed that her skin was glowing a faint gold color and a small stream of light was shining from her palms! Her father saw the quirk while in a deep drunken stupor and attacked his daughter. Fortunately, the police were already preparing to raid the house when Relena was stabbed in the shoulder. Her father was taken into custody and Relena was placed in an orphanage. She received both medical attention and psychological screening which took several months of rehabilitation. The knife wound would forever be a reminder of how fragile life could be. The gnarled scar wrapped ugly around the upper left of her torso as the only thing left by her father. Being a quirker, she was closely monitored by the staff but she behaved in a respectful manner. Relena was like a mute, never speaking the entire duration of her stay. Though over time she grew close to her primary doctor and the man would come to adopt her into his care. He and his wife were accepting of the rising surge of quirkers in society and nurtured Relena's power as a gift rather than a detriment. Her time spent with her new family made Relena smile again and she felt true happiness for the first time in her life. She knew that she owed them a debt and that her life would not be a waste, like her father's was. So she concentrated all her efforts into studying in school. To get perfect grades for a better future. Her uncle was a kind hearted man who she took to emulate due to his high morals. She was a practitioner of the art of Kenjutsu for most of her life henceforth. In order to grow closer to the man, Relena became his pupil. At first it was incredibly difficult, but after years of practice, the art became more like therapy for her. It helped to relieve Relena of stress and broke down the walls that she built up. Her uncle made her feel more confident in herself...like she would never become a victim again. Her family heavily encouraged that she practice using her quirk on a daily basis. Relena was able to draw upon the energies around her and manipulate them into different uses. Light in the darkness was an easy one for her, as was beams of light that could be cast from her palms. She enjoyed walking outside and basking in the sun, feeling the solar energy penetrate her core and spread throughout her body. It made her feel rejuvenated and refreshed. After many years of experimentation, Relena learned that the energy stored within her could permeate her muscles and bones, strengthening her body. Due to the intense training with her uncle, compounded with the persistent exposure to sunlight, her body was toughened to becoming as durable as wood. Life had become rewarding for her and she began to feel a sense of accomplishment with her new family. But it would not last. Shortly after her fifteenth birthday, Relena's father had escaped from jail with only one thought in mind: To track down his daughter. He saw her as a monster that needed to be exterminated. All quirkers needed to be purged. The man tracked Relena to her new home and proceeded to tear the place apart looking for her. In the process, her parents were killed before her very eyes and she was left alone with the murderer. In a fit of rage, she took up her wooden sword and fought against her father. The man's sheer adrenaline maddened strength shattered the stick in half and, as he approached, Relena felt her quirk course through her body. Grasping the broken haft in hand, Relena charged at her oncoming assailant. The light shot forth from the makeshift hilt and extended into a blade of light! It pierced her father's gut clean through his body and slash cleanly across his abdomen. He collapsed in a bleeding heap on the ground as Relena watched in stunned awe. The energy spewed out of her body in such sporadic succession that she lost all stamina, passing out next to the corpse. Being the sole inheritor to her family's will, but unable to claim it until she was eighteen, Relena was cared for by her foster aunt and uncle until she finished school. As the year drew to a close, more and more she decided that people like her father needed to be put down. She didn't want others to suffer because of quirks like she did. And so she enlisted in a school for heroes. She could only hope that she could live up to the standards of a hero at UA. Time would only tell. |
