Today’s combat lesson had taken Geist’s class an hour or so outside of Tokyo, up the mountains to an abandoned hotel used for military training exercises. From the outside, the the building was a edifice of faded glory, cracked marble facade covered in vines, windows broken and streaked with grime, surrounded by overgrown, weed-choked vines. When the last student exited the UA school bus, Giest cleared his throat, arms crossed across his chest, staring at the group of would-be-heroes with a distinctly unimpressed air. ‘ “Damn. Looks like I got some real fresh meat this time. I’m going to bet for most of you, this is your first or second combat lesson?” Geist growled, sounding more exasperated than annoyed. “Well. Guess it’s a good thing I went with something simple.” “Alright. Listen up!” Geist snapped, voice suddenly taking a drill-sergeant air. “This is going to be a basic team combat exercise, based on capture the flag. Nothing challenging. Each team has been given a briefcase stamped with the UA logo--one red, one blue. Each briefcase has been set on a pedestal.” “Your job is to bring the other team’s briefcase to the pedestal before they do the same to yours. Alternately, the game ends when all members of one team are disables, or unable to fight.” Geist continues, holding up three fingers. “Three basic rules. One: Stay within the hotel grounds, Two: No moving your own teams briefcase. Three: No excessive force. Nimue has warned me if another student breaks someone’s bones, she’ll be upset.”
The masked professor pauses, as though he’s trying to make sure everyone is on the same page. After a moment, he reaches into his duster, pulling out eight bands--four red, four blue. “Ung Unga, Shiko Chiyogami, Arisu Disukodo and Owen O'Sullivan, you are red team. Tie a band in a visible place.” Giest said, handing a red band to each of the four students. “Noriko Wanizuka, Relena Tsuruya, Mozuku Momoko, and Jun Howland--that puts you on team blue. Tie on your bands.”
“You have one minute to find your briefcase, and plan. You will be surveying the grounds on the fly. When you hear a pistol shot, the game is on. Your one minute starts...now!”

--- arisu --- - Motel Madness - The trip up into the mountains had provided a lot of chances for the students to interact in a positive manner. Whether it was talking about how pretty the scenery was, wondering how the day's teams would be arranged, or- possibly, in Ung's case- discussing with questionable grammar the best ways to find deer in this part of the country, it was likely that the only students left to their own devices were going to be the ones that wanted to be left so. Arisu was not one of these people. Sure, she was stressing over the complexities of an exercise whose facets she was not even yet aware of- sure, she was worried (nay, expecting) to be assigned to a team full of absolutely nobody she knew all over again- but all that was on the back burner, and she spent the trip trying to help everyone else stay cheerful, upbeat, excited, and trying to introduce herself to the students she didn't already at least know from the class chat. She came dressed in her hero outfit, revamped to be closer to Lash the Human Hurricane's outfit. To her, that was supposed to represent her dedication to helping without harming, but she remained worried that someone might take it as an up and up ripoff instead of an homage. So she didn't draw attention to the changes and simply exited the bus as directed. Geist's explanation included some exasperated dialogue- add that to the internal pile of insecurities, Arisu, don't engage it now- but valuable information as well. They needed to do one of two things- disable the entire enemy team, or else relocate the enemy briefcase to their own pedestal. Thankfully, it didn't require having their own present when it happened- it would have been awfully difficult to do that since they couldn't relocate their own briefcase at all. The red bandana was almost pointless- Arisu's entire outfit was red, but she tied the red band around her throat like a kerchief nonetheless. "Come on. Let's get to our pedestal," Arisu said, making little effort to avoid being overheard by the other team. "I have a plan of attack, but I want to have time to make sure you guys like it and are ready to move out ASAP.""So, most folks would split up into offense and defense teams," Arisu explained quickly once they were all safely away from the other team, doing her best to share her idea before the gunshot if possible. "I don't think we should do that. We can plan for them to do exactly that, and -all- stay here." She held up a finger, aware that sounded like a bad idea. "If we do that, and they send a partial team in to take the case, we have our whole team here. I know a little about what all of us can do. We're -very- close ranged over all from what I can tell- all your quirks are what they look like, and I make fire that drains energy instead of burning people." She demonstrated, popping a flick of Antipyre over her palm. "I think Shiko-chan and I are the only ones with much range, and I work better up close, wrapping my fists in this stuff and using my boxing training. I -can- fight at range, though. We can stomp whoever comes and then go after the rest in a 4v2. Shiko, your reach will be a clutch ace in the hole for that- we don't even have to beat anyone at that point, if Shiko can surprise them with her reach and snag the case, we can just escort her back fending off the other two and we win. If they send their whole team, we'll have our whole team here to defend- and if they send nobody, doing the same as we did, we can just go over there and throw down in an even fight. But whatever we do, I think we should do all together, and when we do attack, I think we should go through the inside, so we can get a feel for the interior- we saw the outside already.""Those are just my thoughts," she finished as she came to a stop by the pedestal, examining the case to get an idea of what they'd need to be transporting. "Does that sound like a good plan? Anyone else have a better idea, or any insight into what the other team's quirks can do?"She looked back and forth between her classmates, trying to make it clear she was sincerely seeking their input- she already had a good idea of the sort of skills her teammates brought to the table, and she felt pretty confident in their chances. They needed to play smart, and they had a great chance of coming out on top- or, at least, that was how she figured it! Staying close would also allow them to adopt new plans, adjust to new developments, and avoid the difficulties that would come with splitting up- you couldn't just demand your teammates return if you have a change of heart, after all, not without something to allow that communication. It was her hope that working as a unit, sharing the burden of watching for enemies, and developing counterplay to whatever plot their opponents put into play would serve them well in the end- but only time would tell. Quirk: Antipyre Type: Emitter Rank: E Description: Arisu can project and control a blue-black flame-like energy using her arms. It doesn't burn living things or materials, and emits neither heat nor light, but corrodes energy sources, exhausts living things, and renders substances fragile, to the point a simple punch could cause them to collapse. Effect: Effect: Antipyre deals normal damage to objects, themed as a weakening or crumbling of its material. It deals standard damage to energy constructs as well, but inflicts exhaustion damage on anything living, draining their energy instead of inflicting physical harm. It can be used to fight fires, downed electrical lines, and other energy-based hazards of its rank or lower, and has standard range (10m) for an Emitter quirk.
Drawback: Antipyre's biggest drawback is its effect on Arisu. Not only does creating blackfire consume her own energy reserves, it also seeps into her bloodstream. The veins in her arms turn black as she pushes her limits, tracing back up towards her chest. If they reach her heart, they will slow her heart rate and, possibly, stop it entirely if pushed far enough.
Controlling it after projection requires large, clumsy movements, and if her arms are restrained, she cannot manipulate this energy at all until they are freed, limiting her to blasting the energy wherever her arms happen to be pointing at the time.
Ability name Blackfire Brawler Type: Martial Art Rank: F
Effect: Before Arisu realized she couldn't set anything on fire, she kept her flames close, wrapped around her hands instead of launched all over the place. She has a long way to go with regards to actual combat application, but has some practice ducking and weaving, and can punch hard enough to splinter wood.
Ability name Exhaustion Expert Type: Enhancement Rank: F
Effect: Constant exposure to Antipyre has left Arisu resistant to natural exhaustion- her stamina is improved, allowing her to keep on keeping on for a little longer than others might expect. TAGS: WORD COUNT:1245 TEMPLATE BY ELIZA @ BOTE & THQ

Post by Mozuku Momoko on Jan 21, 2019 23:36:12 GMT -4
While she did her best to engage enthusiastically (albeit briefly) with anyone who tried to interact with her during the bus drive, Momoko was noticeable more quiet than usual. Her body sat tensely on her seat as her small hands kept rubbing each other absentmindedly. It was something that she herself recognized as unusual, something that couldn't be justified to an attempt to save up her energy; for one, she would have been able to take a nap if that were the case. It was obviously anxiety. Not only was it the first combat lesson, but it was also one that had managed to occur while she was still working on her first tools. On top of this, this was her first official attempt to establish herself as something more than just a cutesy tailor-doll. It felt daunting, more so than life usually did.
The small girl waited for others to exit the bus before doing so herself. She was clad in her self-made hero outfit consisting of two parts. First one was the black elastic bodysuit that covered Momoko's body from her ankles to her neck with the exception of her arms. The second one was a light brown hooded cloak, with the hood being kept up for the time being to hide her nervousness even slightly. There were yellow lines across the cloak that marked the places for future embroidery, but since this version was still just the prototype, Momoko had yet to finish the job on aesthetic aspects like that. Along with her suit she was carrying an ordinary needle on her waist, which to her was the size of a shortsword.
Geist seemed like an intimidating one, but he did get to the point. It was unfortunate to discover that her roommate was going to be on the opposing side, since even if they hadn't had gotten too close just yet it would have been nice to be teamed up with a familiar face. Then again, maybe that was the point. Momoko mulled over this as she adjusted her blue band, which she had decided to wear like a sash, and grouped up with rest of the Blue Team. They all seemed nice enough... although one of them did make Momoko mildly nervous. She managed to give the others a small greeting before it was time to go locate their briefcase.
[One Briefcase Locating Scene Later]
"...I'll be on the offense if that's okay." Momoko, whose hood was still partly covering her face, stated this as she inspected the briefcase on the pedestal, making sure not to touch it lest it would count as trying to move it. She did her best to sound serious with her high-pitched voice. "That way I can at least scout around, and maybe snatch theirs if I get lucky. I'm stronger than I look." She turned towards the others. "I don't know what you others can do, but I'm not much of use in combat. That's why I would personally no issues with an uneven split like that. Thoughts?"

Post by Owen O'Sullivan on Jan 23, 2019 17:41:42 GMT -4
Owen didn't interact too much with the others on the bus. Of course, this wasn't out of him being at all timid, he most certainly was not, and it wasn't due to him being disinterested in his fellow classmates, anyone who'd spoken to him would know he was quite the friendly sort. No, he was simply preoccupied with his own excitement. He sat at a window seat as he generally liked to, quickly tapping his hoof as he stared out the window, paying no mind to the consistent noise said tapping made. He was somewhere between anxious and eager, leaning towards the latter, as today would be his first real chance to show his fellow UA students just how exceptional he was. The antlered boy had yet to actually put time into getting a Hero suit together, so he simply came wearing the standard UA gym uniform. He felt that he looked pretty good in it anyways, though he was a bit worried about the possibility of his tail being revealed despite pulling the waistband of the pants up over it. Continuing his visible restlessness, Owen hopped from one hoof to the other in place once the group had exited the bus, grinning wide as the grim-dark teacher explained their lesson, the man's exasperated attitude and strict tone doing nothing to bring the boy down. Really, it only made him more excited to know what they were doing! Capture the flag? That was simple enough, especially given how he had a leg up on others in terms of nimbleness. All he had to do was get past their defenses and he should be good to just run the package back home. Owen cheerfully accepted the red band from Geist, identifying the rest of his team quickly. "Arisu, Shiko, you two're from the chat, right? Looks like you two finally get to see the real deal in action!" Owen finally stopped hopping excitedly to place one hand on his hip as he flexed the other arm, despite not actually being all that impressive in regards of upper body mass. Once finished, the boy tied the red band around his right upper arm.
Once they arrived at the pedestal that held their 'flag' Owen got excited again, tapping his hoof as he listened to Arisu lay out her plan. Though he kept smiling, the boy began rubbing at his chin, thinking the plan over. Sure, it was a good plan, and the other team probably wouldn't think of it, but would it leave room for him to really show off? Maybe not as much if he ran off, but at the same time, if he did run off on his own, that would likely only earn him the scorn of his teammates, even if he did succeed in his goal of standing out. No, he would just have to let his natural skill and coolness allow him to stand out among the defense-focused team. "A'ight! Let's go with your plan, 'suming everyone else is on board, y'know? We'll just needta make sure their attack team's outta commission for sure before runnin' off to take their defenders down. Unless we're lookin' to fight a battle on two fronts, yeah?" From his smile and generally positive attitude, one would have no idea that he was silently disappointed that he wouldn't be allowed to run off on his own to show off. Though it probably would have been a good idea for him to bring up the fact that he can extend his antlers during the conversation on ranged attacks, he decided to keep that a surprise for everyone. An ace in the hole as far as really making his mark in this lesson or something along those lines. He could see it now: saving the entire team with clever use of his Antler Cannon, and subsequently being adored by his teammates and envied by his opponents. It was brilliant and fool-proof as far as he was concerned. Quirk: Cervinae Type: Mutation Rank: E Description: The user of this Quirk exhibits physical features of the Cervinae subfamily of deer, sharp, pointed, tree branch-like antlers, and furred legs with hoofed feet. Unlike the average deer, the Quirk's user can control the rate at which horns grow back to a limited extent.
Effects: Cervinae gives Owen enhanced speed thanks to his powerful legs, and natural weaponry in the form of his antlers and hooves.
Drawback and Weaknesses: Though the growth of the user's antlers can be accelerated, the way they grow cannot be controlled, and will always grow in the same pattern. In addition, the growth cannot be reverted, if the user wishes to start go back to their previous size, he must forcibly snap them off. It takes two turns for their antlers to return to their base size, and the growth cannot be forced during those two turns.
Combat Ability: Antler Cannon Type: Skill Rank: F Effect: By focusing especially hard on the growth of his antlers, Owen causes a sudden burst of growth in his antlers, expanding with enough force to pierce wood. Fully extended, this skill has a range of 10m.
Combat Ability: Kickboxing with Hooves Type: Skill Rank: F Effect: Owen has been trained in kickboxing from a young age, supposedly only for self-defense. He has a clear preference on the use of his legs for striking while he defends with his arms.

❝You're showing me colours of the sky, But all I see is Grey❞ 594 w. Capture the briefcase kenjutsu-f | reinforcement-f | radiant dawn-e Relena, for the most part, sat in the back of the bus next to the window. She kept her eyes shut and her arms crossed, actively focusing on absorbing as much sunlight into her organic battery as possible. It wasn't from lack of interest involving the others, though she might have come off as uncouth. This exercise would be later in the day, which meant she wouldn't be able to count on the sun to support her. I'm going to have to rely on my sword skills, then. So be it. After all, dealing with frustrating circumstances comes with being a hero.As she exited the bus with the rest of her class, Relena eyed Geist waiting for them. It was obvious that he wasn't too excited for this class, considering how inexperienced they all were. The lack of enthusiasm did not go unnoticed by the sword girl who remained unmoving, arms crossed to mirror the combat instructor. Though she still didn't technically have a hero costume, Relena arrived wearing her Basic costume. The rules were simple and the objective an easy one in retrospect, provided that the team worked together. She snatched the blue band from Geist and tied it around the upper section of her left arm before turning on her heel, walking casually toward the pedestal where the blue team briefcase would be on the east side. As she passed the hotel, Relena regarded the disrepair of the facility. It was clear that rot had claimed this place long ago and it was quite possible that the structural integrity of the hotel was questionable at best. Perhaps that could be taken into account when the shit hit the fan.Relena eyed the small girl...the really small girl as she explained her perspective on the battle. Someone this small would definitely be useful in terms of scouting."Very well. Perhaps you could slip through their line if we can distract them. The problem is the open area that this briefcase is in. Not ideal for defense."Relena just glared at the pedestal and then back at the hotel. She noticed that Noriko was on her team and that made her feel a little more at ease. Relena had seen her mutation first hand during a Quirkball exercise. Noriko was indeed quite talented in both offense and defense, so the swordsman would leave it up to the reptile girl's discretion on where her stance on combat resided."It's good to see you again, Noriko. Best of luck to you."The final team mate was someone Relena didn't recognize. Which wasn't anything new, since she didn't recognize anyone really. She gave a curt bow to Jun in respect for her participation."Well, I might as well get this out of the way." She said, gripping the wooden bokken on her side. "My name is Relena, but most just call me sword girl. My quirk is sunlight based, so I am limited to only a small amount of light constructs. Otherwise, I will engage the enemy with my swordsmanship."The girl narrowed her eyes at the eastern entrance to the hotel with annoyance clear on her face. She was clearly a detriment to her team and it frustrated her to no end."There are alot of frustrating looking people on their team. My bet is that they are going to rush us. I think we have a solid enough defense to hold them off, though. Depending on what you can do, anyway." She looked over at Jun with a look of expectation on her face.

Unsurprisingly, Noriko was her usual, reticent self on the bus ride to their location. If anything, she had fewer words to give for those who might try to engage her. This was not out of malice -rarely anything was with her- but out of the need to sublimate the nervousness she felt by looking observing the nature she saw outside and doing her best to recall all the ways she’d thought of to use her abilities. It was her first combat exercise-slash-lesson, after all, and she had no idea what to expect. It certainly didn’t help that she’d made sure to get up extra early so she could get to the cafeteria extra early, and so that she wouldn’t throw up her extra-large breakfast. She had no idea what to expect, but she was sure she needed the extra energy for an early-morning lesson. And definitely not the embarrassment of being the girl who upchucked during an early-morning lesson. As she looked around the bus she also noticed that she was one of the students who didn’t yet have a Hero costume- she was still indecisive, too wishy-washy about how she wanted to present herself to commit to having one made. Perhaps seeing the others’ costumes while in action would give her ideas for hers. In the meantime, though, she wore her gym uniform with the bodysuit she’d requested be made to keep her warm. It would have to do for now. Geist-sensei was… intimidating, to say the least. He held himself a lot like the principal did, and as he explained the exercise Noriko couldn’t help but wonder how likely it was that he was secretly in a metal band (answer: very likely). Noriko’s first instinct was to tie her band around her head, but she wasn’t sure how well it might fit, so she settled for putting it around her bicep? She looked to her teammates; she knew Tsuruya, but that was the only familiar face in the group; there was also an extremely small girl whom Noriko had to take extra care not to get too close to, and another girl whose Quirk wasn’t immediately obvious. That information would have to come later, however. Now, they had their flag to find. ******* The hotel was… not in the best shape, Noriko noticed. It had to have been years since anyone had tried to maintain it and she wasn’t entirely confident that parts of the building wouldn’t crumble if she tried to climb them. That said, maybe she wouldn’t need to. The tiny girl wanted to be on offense, probably because she was harder to see and more able to hide herself. Tsuruya (to whom she nodded and replied with “you too” towards) gave her take. Now that they’d found their flag, it probably wasn’t too far of a leap to assume that the red team’s flag was on the opposite side of the hotel, so the tiny girl could probably afford to scout alone. And if she couldn't... well, she was probably good at hiding. "I'll be on defense," she said. She was big enough to be the most benefit guarding the pedestal, and she wasn't confident enough in her offensive capabilities in this context to offer herself up to go with her diminuative peer. Quirk: Reptilia Type: Mutation (Rank E) Grants user an variety of features usually seen in various reptiles. Effect: Enhanced strength (E) and durability (E).
Drawback and Weaknesses: Due to her size and skin coloration, Noriko poses a very obvious target for any sort of aspiring villain (or opponent in dodgeball) who wishes to assail her, and is unable to disguise herself effectively. If she isn’t careful, her tail can become an obstacle to the unsuspecting passerby who happens to be walking near her, though she has long since become used to making it as little of an obstruction as possible and remaining comfortable. While she isn’t exactly ectothermic, she’s very sensitive to the cold and will become sluggish and numb with prolonged exposure to it; additionally, sudden, intense bursts of it can temporarily render her immobile in her natural state.
Also, because of her size and metabolism, she consumes far more food than the average Japanese girl to stay energized. While she probably won’t eat you out of house and home, she can finish a food eating challenge like nobody’s business.
Combat Abilities Sticky Fingers Type: Enhancement Rank: F Effect: Noriko has pads on her fingers and toes that, if she so wishes, allow her to stick to most solid surfaces, similar to a gecko. However, each set of pads can only support a maximum of about 35 kilograms. While she can stick to walls and support her weight, climbing and sticking to surfaces requires no small amount of stamina, after all; at this point she can only do so for around three and a half minutes.

Smells. Good smell. Deer smell? Dog. Bear. Poop. Deer. The simple sponge’s simple mind was running a thousand miles a second as his nose waved in the wind, being bombarded with the smells of the forest as he hung as head out the window. The scenery, wooden and rustic, was a warm bath of nostalgic for Ung, a refreshing change of pace from the concrete jungle that U.A. had left him at times feeling like a sponge out of water. The unrepentant wilderness reminded him of home, a place he often missed dearly. The poor thing wouldn’t get to enjoy this smorgasbord of smells for too long unfortunately, as a bump in the road almost sent him rolling out the window. After a few glares Ung would sit in his seat like an actual person, spending the rest of his time identifying the various creatures and the most efficient way to hunt them in his unique, trademark style of speaking. The new location was interesting to Ung to say the least, the cavesponge oo-ing and ah-ing as he took in the dilapidating hotel the students were bused to. His large wooden club bounced and bobbed as he dragged it along the ground, Ung wanting to take the time to feel the ground beneath him as he walked on all fours. Similarly to the other students he was dressed to a T, Ung sporting his hero costume. It was made out of canvas, the suit essentially a well dressed potato sack. While others may complain about such a rigid fabric Ung was overjoyed, feeling that the garment rubbing against his spongy skin was akin to being constantly pet. It was bright orange with a blue fringe, covered in black triangles. It was identical to the garment worn by a popular American caveman, and was a stylistic choice decided by someone besides Ung. The cavesponge would’ve preferred to fight unhindered by fabric, but there were apparently “laws” against replacing one’s hero suit with their birthday suit. Ung listened quietly as their imposing luchador teacher began to explain the rules, absentmindedly nodding along as he was more interested in the thick vines growing through the hotel. Fun climb. No hard as tree. He atleast heard the gist of things, his comprehension better than what his limited speaking pattern would suggest. Stay. No move case. No hurt. The latter would be difficult for Ung, considering his combat utility involved swinging around a massive chunk of wood. He’d have to be careful when swinging his club around, although remembering this would likely be difficult for Ung in the heat of battle. Ung would firmly tie his red ribbon around his nose, intending to use it as a reminder. Considering his brain was almost as smooth as a baby’s bottom, it wouldn’t be outside of the question for him to actually forget which team he was on if an enemy were to confuse him through lies and deceit. Having the ribbon between his eyes would atleast be a constant reminder for who his allegiance should lie. He’d follow along as Geist beckoned their team to the podium. His eye twitched as he watched Owen pass by with him, Ung having to repress his hunting instinct and by immediately try to club and gut the unfortunately teamed mutant. Big deer. Big horn. Make sharp club. Ung would muse, almost cocking back his club before he filled his mind with no hunt, no hunt, no hunt!It seemed the same ally that gathered them would be the same one to immediately formulate the plan. It was a out offensive assault to take advantage of the group’s physical nature. Splitting up would run the risk of being picked off, especially if their opponents were more range oriented. It was the classic Blitzkrieg strategy, a word that Ung couldn’t dream of thinking of, never the less actually pronounce. Their apparent leader asked for opinions and suggestions after finishing, to which the big deer chimed in agreement. He didn’t really have much to add, but Ung wasn’t the one to judge. It was a fairly simple plan, adding too much to simple would run the risk of ruining it through complication. Yet Ung would gruffly speak up, wanting to impart a bit of caveman wisdom to the idea. The entire situation reminded him of hunting, and hunting was a pastime Ung excelled at. ”Go quick. No let blue rest.” Having said his peace, the sponge would wait for a signal, or at the very least for his allies to begin their assault. Rushing in headfirst without a group was suicide, an idea so foolhardy that even a literal caveman could understand why it would be unwise. Type: Mutation Rank: E Description:Ung’s body is anatomically similar to a prehistoric sea sponge, which provides him a spongey body that’s quite resilient to physical blows, being able to absorb blows that could otherwise shatter rocks. Ung’s anatomy also allows him to breath underwater, filtering the oxygen like, well, a sponge. His appearance is also changed further, prehistoric features, a gorilla-ish gait that involves walking on his long arms, and a generous amount of hair. However, this is mainly just a cosmetic mutation. Effect: Mechanically speaking, Ung has a spongey body that (1) provides enhanced durability and (2) allows him to breathe underwater. Drawback: Despite his appearance suggesting otherwise, Ung can’t actually absorb water with his spongey body. His quirk also heavily impacts his language and certain cognitive skills, suppressing his ability to form complex sentences, read, write, or most basic maths. Ung is also extra susceptible to any quirks that affect his mind as well. Over exerting himself can cause extreme fatigue, alongside bouts of rage.. Ung Bunga Type: Skill Rank: F Effect: “Ung have club. Ung smash good.” Ung is proficient with blunt weaponry, namely a large wooden club that’s commonly kept on his person. (Note: this ability does not necessarily grant Ung a club, and is solely for the proficiency. It does however, note that he commonly has a club on his person. Cavesponge Strength Type: Enhancement Rank: F Effect: “Ung strong. Ung smash good! Ung go smash big brown.” Tapping into the feral adrenaline that comes with being a cavesponge, Ung’s blows are able to break wood.

Jun was out of commission for most of the bus ride. While others might’ve interacted and had pleasant small talk, she was perfectly content with stuffing her face with Twinkies and Ding Dongs. One after the other would get shoved into the black hole that was her mouth, washing it down with a cherry icee- all of which she got from the corner store on the way from her house. Though she was eating quickly enough to be considered tasteless and had enough sweets shoved into her pockets to last an entire week on a deserted island, Jun’s cavity-inducing feast was all to prepare for the training exercise ahead. Crumbs fell onto the red track jacket she wore nearly everyday, and a bit of stray icee had landed on her blue jeans to leave a wet mark. There was a tense feeling in the air around her, but she was too occupied to get anxious. Of course, not that she’d get stressed anyway! Her head was much too inflated by her ego. She had just finished the last of her snacks and shoved the wrappers into her empty cup when the bus arrived at its destination. Leaving the cup at her seat, Jun followed the rest of her class down the walkway and stairs to the front of the hotel. Run-down would have been an understatement, and the stoic teenager eyed the building up and down judgingly as Geist spoke. He was an aggressive man, Jun thought, and she nodded throughout his spiel to make it seem as if she was listening. Capture the flag was pretty straight forward- you get the other teams flag and win. It was nothing the teen hadn’t seen before, but what actually caught her attention was the ‘disabling the enemy team’ part. It seemed that the evening just became a bit more intriguing. Of course, the ‘no excessive force’ rule put a dampener on her plans, but she was nothing if not adaptive. When the intimidating teacher handed out the blue bands, Jun would tie hers around her forehead like a headband. At this time, she took a quick glance at her teammates. The biggest caught her attention- a reptile woman towering over what she thought was her ‘above average’ height. Jun’s eyes widened slightly at the sight, and her attention was brought down much further to the ground to look at her other teammate. It was one extreme after the other- a mountain and then a speed bump- but she listened to what the small one had to say, chiming in with an unhelpful nod. The last teammate, a rather plain-looking blonde, grabbed Jun’s attention by introducing herself. Mirroring her bow, the sugary teen began unzipping her track jacket nonchalantly to reveal a tight black tank top underneath, “The name’s Jun. I make sugar.” Jun replied plainly to Relena, tying her jacket around her waist. It was her favorite jacket, and the demonstration of her Quirk would leave it ripped if she hadn’t moved it. She’d nod when Noriko would say her part, taking a mental note to keep an eye out if she needed help at the pedestal later down the line. With Relena eyeing her, Jun would lift her arms in front of her chest, cracking her knuckles indifferently. Sugar crystals formed at her forearm first, starting small at first but growing larger as they moved to encase her entire hand to shape two hefty crystalline gauntlets. Jun would lightly smash her gauntlets together confidently, grinning as small bits broke off at the contact, ”I’ll play however you need me to. Just give me a target, princess.”
Crystallization
Type: Emitter
Rank: E
Effects: Jun's sweet-tooth comes in handy, as she is able to form hardened sugar crystals from her skin! These sugar crystals are as strong as stone, and are able to break stone. With this, forming armor and large crystalline fists to beat people with is a piece of cake!
The crystals that Jun forms are only able to be manipulated when she is touching them.
Drawback and Weaknesses: Sugar must be consumed to form the sugar crystals. Not only that, but the only way to be rid of the crystal constructs is to either shatter or dissolve them in water. Once shattered, the remaining pieces will burst into unrefined sugar.
Since her quirk is centered around her sugar levels, if Jun uses her quirk too much or too extremely the first symptoms of hypoglycemia will begin to set in- dizziness, confusion, heart palpitations, shaking, and more. If not treated quickly enough, it could prove fatal through insulin shock.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Like Mother, Like Daughter
Type: Skill
Rank: F
Effect: Before her mother's untimely paralysis, she did her best to prepare Jun for a future which included beating the life out of bad guys! With this knowledge, Jun knows the basics when it comes to combat.

Bus rides! Field trips! back in middle school it always meant that there was going to be something fun to do! A speed bump on the dull road of school-life! Well, ever since getting into U.A. it was like every day was a field trip so this wasn't that much different! At least she got to skip math for once. She would be lying if she claimed that wasn't the tipping point on her decision to participate in this event.
Trouble, however, would raise its head early. Perhaps it was just the after-class mood that all of them were in, but all were silent, reticent. The only people that she really knew were either classmates or her roommate. Even Momo was uncharacteristically lost in her own thoughts. Shiko would make sure to greet Arisu and Momoko before climbing into the bus.
Shiko sat by Arisu, of course. Of all the people Shiko knew going on this trip, she knew her the best. She tried to keep talking along with Arisu, but found it hard to keep a conversation with most of the other students. It would only be a few minutes before the paper girl started nodding off to sleep.
A bus ride later and the kids were being shoveled out of the bus. Shiko would find herself being one of the last, stumbling off somewhat groggily as she rubbed the fuzz out of her eyes. Her vision coming back into focus, she got an odd feeling looking at the dilapidated hotel's exterior. Had the weather been any gloomier, she was certain a thunderbolt would have ripped through the sky before them.
What she got instead was a chill running up her spine as Geist-sensei sighed with his haunting breath. Shiko clenched her teeth as she turned back around. Her back shot straight and shoved her hands behind her back. She felt like she could have started sweating had she the glands for it!
The explanation and rules were surprisingly short. Shiko would tie the band around her left arm and head off with the rest of her group.
Even without any hints, the group seemed to find the assigned briefcase rather easily, and luckily within the given amount of time. At least it felt like it had been less than a minute. Shiko made sure to look around a little bit to make sure that she had at least a shallow grasp of the layout of the current area.
Arisu, taking charge of the situation, gave her plan concisely. Shiko started moving to interject half-way through, but the girl was quick to justify herself. Shiko frowned at that though. The others seemed more on board with this plan than she was.
"You're assuming that they'll send two, Ari-chan." Shiko would flash the girl a smirk. "I think it would be better if two of us tried to hide to make it look like we're on the offensive. Though, this open space isn't really good for that? Hide and set trap. What do you think, Ari-chan?"
Type: Mutation
Rank: E
Description: Shiko is made of a paper-like material rather than flesh and bone. The paper that makes up her body has been folded hundreds, if not thousands, of times into a human shape with significant deviations from what one could consider a 'normal' appearance, most nominally the natural starch-white color of her 'hair' and 'skin' as well her shallow facial features. More significantly, her body seems to lack most major organs. Most important of these are the heart and lungs as she breaths passively through her 'skin,' circumventing the need to transport oxygen around her entire body. It should be noted that significant damage to these areas is still extremely painful and, while not necessarily causing organ-related damage, may inhibit her ability to move and properly use her quirk. Others, such as the brain and stomach are mimicked by the same material that makes up the rest of her body. Shiko is also able to unfold parts of her body
Effects: The material that makes up Shiko's body is very similar to paper, only a bit more resistant to water to the point where it would not fall apart when soaked, a bit more resistant to fire to the point where she would not turn into a pile of ash immediately in its presence. She can draw on her own skin but these marking will fade with time. Due to being made of only this paper-like material, Shiko is also significantly lighter than most people.
1. Minor Shapeshifting- Shiko has enough control over her paper body to, for instance, flatten herself, roll herself up, or unfold her limbs in order to slightly extend her reach by two or three meters or increase the area that they cover- this could potentially allow her to fly.
2. Increased Durability by Proxy- Due to the nature of her mutated physiology, she is more capable of absorbing most physical blows that would be able to damage stone. An exception to this rule are cuts.
Drawback and Weaknesses: While not the most worrisome of the downfalls of her quirk, it's the most important to Shiko: Her quirk makes her stand out. Even with copious amounts of makeup and years spent dyeing the paper that makes up her hair, she still looks like a goth girl trying too hard at best and a geisha going casual at worst.
Winds are annoying to her. Most people don't have to worry about if inlcement weather would literally blow them away or not, but Shiko does! A strong breeze could send her stumbling! Gale force winds and she's gone!
Practically, she is naturally hydrophobic. While she still needs to drink water to survive, she could hardly muster herself to enter a body of water even if she wanted to. Water makes her sluggish and dizzy, it makes it several times harder for her to move when she's soaked- getting caught in the rain absolutely ruins her day! She still needs to bathe, however, and it absolutely the end of her day, taking the rest of the night to dry off while she sleeps on stop of several towels
Fire is another one it takes her much longer to heal from wounds caused by it- for example, if she were to get burned by a candle, it would take her about two weeks to heal compared to a few days for most people.
Shiko's skin tears easily. While does not bleed these cuts can be quite painful for her when they happen. She often gets several smaller cuts by simple daily activities, though these often seal themselves back up over-night.
Abilities: Paper Blinders!
Type: Blind
Rank: F
Effect: By unfolding one of her limbs, Shiko reaches out up to three meters and covers the top part of her enemy's head, effectively blinding them!

--- arisu --- - Motel Madness - "Yeah, from the chat," confirmed Arisu as Owen inquired, beaming at being recognized as her online persona. "And so's Rimma! Good guess!" She offered Shiko a bright grin as she awoke and rubbed herself back into wakefulness, and waved her, Owen, and the delightfully odd Ung along with her to find their briefcase and share her relatively in-depth plan- not long after which, as her classmates shared their ideas and concerns...
BANG!
Arisu's head shot up as the gunshot sounded, then snapped back to the others. "You're right. It'd be smarter to LOOK like we split up, and once we engage, we'll do best if we don't give them any time to regroup or recover. I admit, Shiko, I got no clue how many are gonna come at us at first." Arisu thought for a moment, looking over her allies, then snapped her fingers with a smirk. "You all look pretty mobile. There aren't any upper-level approaches to this area. We can presume the same about the other side, probably. We haven't got much time- if you can hide, do it. Up is best, but anything not easily visible from the hall leading here or the frontside approach will work. I'm gonna stay here. They won't buy that the case would be totally unprotected. Call me the bait. I can fight at range, so hopefully, they won't be able to really start a fight for real before you guys can close on whoever they send on assault and bring the pain. Soon as we deal with their attack team, we descend on their case- no time to rest, no assumptions on their incoming numbers. Shiko, try not to get directly engaged, we really want to use your reach to baffle them when we go for the case. Okay? Find your spots, hurry!" Arisu fell back to the case itself, flexing her arms and letting dark coils of what looked like fire curl out of her flesh to pool around her hands like boxing gloves. It wouldn't be long before they found out just how many had been sent to attack them. One? Three? All of them? None of the answers would surprise her, but she really hoped it wasn't just the tiny girl. She had no idea what that kid could do, much less any confidence she'd see her sneaking up before she got a hand on the case. Who knew, though? Maybe she wouldn't be on offense at all. She could get lucky. Right? TAGS: WORD COUNT:427 TEMPLATE BY ELIZA @ BOTE & THQ

The other members of Momoko's team did thankfully chime in. Well, some more than others, but they all seemed cooperative at the very least. The self-proclaimed sword girl, Relena, expressed her interest in staying in defense. The lizard girl, to whose presence Momoko had gotten a bit more used to by now, stated the same. The slightly more verbose sugarmaker... didn't actually make a statement of any kind regarding their position as far as the smaller girl could parse, but she was tentatively going to assume that Jun wasn't going to be joining in on the scouting part at least. ...so Momoko could assume that her suggestion about her being the starting offense had gone through after all, huh? "Alright then!" Her voice slipped a little from the "cool and collected" attitude she had been trying to cultivate as she jumped upright on the pedestal, keeping her head on a slight angle so that others couldn't see the sudden nervousness flashing through her. She unfastened her cloak, only to flip it around herself in one swift motion so that the inside of the cloak was facing the outside. The inside was almost unnoticeable darker than the outside, but more importantly it didn't have any markings on that side. Momoko would then swiftly hasten it back up again. "Oh! And the name's Shrike! Nice to--"BANG! "MEET YOU! Okay! We don't have comm devices so I'll just try to shout if I stumble upon something bad! Otherwise I'll try to keep quiet! If the fight comes here first I should be able to hear it, so don't shout to signal just that! Good luck!" Momoko finally leapt down from the pedestal and was off to do her own part. She would circle around the hotel's side entrance from their team's starting point. If the assumption about briefcase's positions being identical was correct, making your way through the hotel itself seemed like a safe option, even discounting the abundance of cover that the rubble, disheveled furniture and the architecture could provide. Momoko wasn't sure on if the opposition had come to the same conclusion, so her approach was very careful even from this distance, stopping to quickly check if anyone was coming before sprinting to a different piece of cover, a process that she would proceed to repeat until she could make it slightly past the halfway point of the room right behind one of the abandoned couches. Assuming that she was given no reason to stop, that is.

Post by Owen O'Sullivan on Feb 3, 2019 5:47:08 GMT -4
Doing his best to ignore the weird looks that he was getting from the odd neanderthal-like sponge, Owen listened as the other student he had met in the UA chat expressed a small concern with Arisu's plan, in that their opponents may choose to throw everything they have at them in a big, all out attack. "If they all come, then it's just an even fight, yeah? We can handle that! 'Specially with an ambush." He interjected quickly, faux-whispering that last part before really mulling over the idea of hiding. Stealth was far from his strong suit. Between his height, antlers, and tendency to be pretty loud, even he was willing to admit he was pretty bad at hiding. Owen set his arms behind his head, resting upon his own hands, taking a generally casual stance. "Well as much as I'd like in on the ambush, I think I'll join ye as part o' the bait. Figure they pro'ly thinkin' we'd also go two an' two, havin' just you out 'ere may raise an eyebrow, y'know? Plus uh-" The Irish lad pointed up to the antlers sprouted from his head. "These puppies make it a li'l hard t'actually hide behind anything." He had a point, with a standing height of over six feet and an extra foot of antler atop his head, there were few things Owen could even crouch behind. Plus, if he was being wholly honest, if he and the sponge both hid, he probably wouldn't be able to shake the feeling that the club-wielding neanderthal was sneaking up on him while they were both out of sight. Apparently very casual about this, even now, a solid few moments after the starting gun went off, Owen began stretching, getting prepared for whatever fight may be coming their way. He figured they wouldn't be fast enough to get to their side before he was done psyching himself up. Of course, this was just him being over-confident here, even without the knowledge of his opponents' Quirks. Quirk: Cervinae
Type: Mutation
Rank: E
Description: The user of this Quirk exhibits physical features of the Cervinae subfamily of deer, sharp, pointed, tree branch-like antlers, and furred legs with hoofed feet.
Combat Ability: Antler Cannon
Type: Skill
Rank: F
Effect: By focusing especially hard on the growth of his antlers, Owen causes a sudden burst of growth in his antlers, expanding with enough force to pierce wood. Fully extended, this skill has a range of 10m.
Combat Ability: Kickboxing with Hooves
Type: Skill
Rank: F
Effect: Owen has been trained in kickboxing from a young age, supposedly only for self-defense. He has a clear preference on the use of his legs for striking while he defends with his arms.

❝You're showing me colours of the sky, But all I see is Grey❞ 266 w. Capture the briefcase kenjutsu-f | reinforcement-f | radiant dawn-e Relena gave a curt nod to Noriko. Good, so they had a pretty solid quirker for defense. She was still annoyed at the time of day for this event, but there wasn't much that could be done. No point crying over spilled milk, as Uncle would say. She listened to Jun's explanation of her quirk with a raised brow. Make sugar?
But then when she saw the demonstration, Relena gave a knowing smirk. "Alright, we have a pretty versatile team then. If we keep our heads, we just might come out of this in one piece."
Honestly, she was saying it more for her sake than theirs. She was the detriment on the team, after all. Relena hated sounding negative, but it was true. Who knew what the hell the other team was planning and-
Bang!
The fight was underway and immediately Shrike was off on the offensive. Relena couldn't help but smile at the enthusiasm that the little girl exuded. Hell, it even made her feel a bit brighter!
"Alright, so with Shrike scouting from the South side, we should have that side covered. Unless one of them has flight powers, that is. Noriko, are you alright with sentry over the briefcase?"
Relena titled her head toward Jun. "I'm gonna let that princess line slide for now if you can take point with me toward the North side. It looks to be the only other way through the hotel. At least, I hope so."
She looked back and forth between her team mates, hoping to the heavens that she didn't sound too presumptuous or bossy.

Their last teammate introduced herself as Jun, and introduced her Quirk as something that could make sugar. Noriko didn’t really understand what that meant until the shorter girl showed them; crystals slowly encased her hands until they turned into sizable gauntlets, and she even smashed them together with only a few small parts falling off at the impact. That was… impressive. And useful, if you consumed enough food. (Now that she thought about it, she did hear the sounds of eating on the bus. Perhaps this was the source)
The small girl did the same –introduce herself, that is, her Quirk was pretty obvious—as Shrike, but before Noriko could say ‘nice to meet you’ there was a loud bang, signaling the exercise’s beginning. And then Shrike was off, assuring them that she’d do her best to shout if she ran into trouble.
Except, Noriko realized, Shrike was tiny. Her size meant her lungs were also tiny. Would she even be able to hear her yell? It was already tough to see her, as is. She seemed to traverse her surroundings well enough, maybe she could yell unexpectedly loud as well? In any case, there wasn’t much she could do about it now. All she could do was focus on her job of defending the briefcase, a sentiment she expressed with “Yeah. Do your best,” in response to Tsuruya’s question. As the blonde addressed Jun, Noriko took up her station behind the briefcase, so theoretically no one could sneak up behind her.

Ung was a tad annoyed that his allies had began to shift towards a more passive plan, someone suggesting that they hide and wait instead of immediately rushing the blue team. It wasn’t that the idea was poor, per se, but the impatient cavesponge wasn’t one to normally sit still unless there was prey on the menu. Besides, it left him feeling as if his advice had fallen on deaf ears, as laying a trap was the complete antithesis to the swift blitzkrieg invasion he was anticipating. But he was used to not being taken seriously and his advice flat out ignored, as many assumed he was far more “simple” than he actually was. Given his difficulty with speech, math, and other trivial aspects of life due to his quirk, it’s hard to blame someone for quickly writing off anything he said as idiotic babble. Ung quietly grumbled to himself as he sauntered towards a more favorable location, slowly dragging his club until- BANG! The loud, piercing ring of the gunshot startled Ung, who’d let out a bloodcurdling roar whilst pounding the dilapidated walls and floors with his wooden weapon. One should never rely on the calmness of a cave anything, lest they lose their face to a startled Neanderthal. Ung’s tameness was a large boulder halfway hanging precariously off a steep cliff, and any loud sudden noise such as a gunshot could spook the poor critter. Thankfully his animalistic instincts lined up well with the objective at hand, as the cavesponge began to seek the highest possible ground he could. There’d be prey soon, and dropping down from the sky like a beast from hell could easily end the fight quickly. Using the thick vines and an interior palm tree, Ung would begin to ascend towards one of the large red banners, doing his best to quiet his excited hooping and hollering. It shouldn’t be too difficult for the prehistoric brawler to maintain his balance, despite the shifting cloth of questionable age and stability. Considering his small size and lightweight body, Ung could cling to the banner without breaking anything. It’d be much safer for him compared to his fellow classmates, at least. Although he could likely go further up and swing amongst the rafters, it’d be important to not risk a lethal drop. Once clinging to the top of one of the red banners Ung would quietly wait consumed by feral thoughts, anticipating his prey. It’s probably a good thing Owen wasn’t in eyesight, eh?
