WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy The enormous hulking beast that was Yoshi Miwa was flailing around blindly, enraged, frustrated, furious. Still unable to see, the small shards of bone were slowly dropping onto the floor, one by one, pushed out of the wounds in a horrific, horrifying manner. It was like the wounds healed from the inside out, slowly pushing anything in the wounds out alongside the healing flesh. Still, for now the woman remained completely blind. A hulking beast, a gorilla, taken over the form of an otherwise quirkless human. There was no doubt, that once this transformation which Alicia had bestowed upon Yoshi Miwa, just like the taurus like mutation they had faced upstairs, the massive increase in power woudl tear her body apart. Barreling towards Kasey, the fury and desperation of Yoshi Miwa was reflected by the current situation downstairs. Alicia desperate to live, ordering every single drone at her disposal to come protect her. Ordering everything to give her the chance of another day. Struggling against the constraints, the girl wasn't reacting normally at all... The hulking beast tackled Kasey with it's huge body, pressuring the strange female against one of the walls. Kasey would feel herself being squished, like a lump of clay pressured between two hands. Yoshi Miwa grasped for one of the metal shards that had fallen onto the ground. Something that she could use to impale Kasey to the wall. Make this stupid woman never move a muscle again. Kill Kasey!...
However, as the moment came where Yoshi Miwa would've brought the shard of metal down upon Kasey, the hulking monstrocity abruptly stopped her movements. Head sinking to the side, jaw half open, Yoshi was drooling onto Kasey in a turn of events that seemed quite strange. It was as if someone had turned off the lights on the first floor, leaving nothing but brainless, soulless husk. The beast had stopped moving. The beast had stopped pressuring Kasey against the wall, letting the woman breathe once more. Standing there like a statue, frozen in time and space, the threat had dissipated. Kogami and Kasey would, provided they managed to get back topside, both live to see another day...
Downstairs, the injection into Alicia had sealed the whole thing. Naoru, who had fallen to the mind control tactics of Alicia herself, had done what he thought to be protecting Alicia at all costs. To inject her with the serum, was the only option his drone mind had had left. The girl was, however, not willingly accepting the serum. As the sensation of the l iquid coursing through her body began spreading, Alicia was screaming in defiance, fighting the sensation with every fiber of her body. The girl did n ot trust what had just happened. The girl was not calm and collected. From the corner of her eyes, she began bleeding profusely. From her nostrils, she began bleeding too. It seemed the girl was essentially attempting to utilize her own quirk, to turn individuals into monsters, slaves, soldiers, onto her own body. However, the serum was clearly designed to beat down any effects of Alicia's quirk. It created a state where, because Alicia was fighting back, her body was essentially deteroriating at a rapid pace. Crying, screaming, tugging at her constraints, every second worsened her condition...
Until si lence befell her. Slumping onto the table she was lying on, she looked like someone who had just experienced a horrible poison. Barely breathing, barely having a pulse, the girl was unlikely to make it topside. The Semper Fi area above was being flooded with police, paramedics and the like. The situation on the outside was beginning to come under control. For those that weren't interested in interacting with the government, answering questions... The time to skeddadle was now. They had effectively ended the threat to their lives, but even so, the prices each of them would pay for this little horror show, would be dire in it's own ways. They had survived. All of them. It meant that, they had a chance to rectify the errors they had comitted on this day. It meant they still had a chance in the future...
As for Alicia, Yoshi Miwa, Jeanne, Abel... Who could really tell how much of a chance they'd have moving forwards. Their lives were all hanging by a thread, one way or another...

Silence.
Sweet silence.
Luzia's mind was all but shattered. The mental screaming... for so long, the yelling, the talking, the whispering from so many voices. It was all noise, just noise noise noise noise... it was all in her head. Drowning her. She couldn't just cover her ears, the voices still came.... Nothing was ever said. But she knew. She knew that the voices were trying to drown her. Kill her.
But. Things were silent. Sweet, sweet silence.
For a moment, she didn't move. The white-haired boy jumping made her smack her head against the bed, but that didn't hurt her. It hurt, but she wasn't hurt. The pressure in her head was gone, and it made her dizzy, so dizzy. It felt like a car was lifted off of her shoulders.
Sweet silence.
It was so sudden that her brain just... froze. The pressure was gone in an instant, so fast that she didn't even notice the deafening silence. Luzia just laid there, on the ground, thinking she was on the cusp of death, and with not much strength left, she just waited for it. Bitter release....
A gentle gasp, and Luzia opened her eyes. The mask hid it, but tears were staining her cheeks. She blinked once, wondering why she was still there, slowly pushing her torso up to look around. The mask was odd on her face, shifted... she couldn't see a thing. But even so, she went wide-eyed when she finally realized... the voices were gone! For a split second, she was in shock, but she smiled widely, relief pouring into her like a flood. She couldn't stop herself from laughing; all of the anger, the fear, the desperation... gone! She was saved! She was free! She won! She laughed loud, leaning back against the bed as she laughed in celebration.
But... almost in the same breath, her laughs of pure joy shifted to giggles of ambivalence, holding her head as the fear and the confusion returned, even if not as strong as before. She nearly died... she lived, but she nearly didn't! For a few seconds, she trembled, shivering in place, trying to process this... but then she remembered where she was - the complete relief of the noise finally stopping making her forget - and narrowed her eyes. In a surprisingly smooth motion, she pulled the mask back down over her face proper and forced herself up.
She could see again, and the first thing she saw was the boy. The utter moron that stopped her. She grit her teeth, her fingers slowly curling into fists, fists that trembled as anger grew in her... as rage grew in her. This grade-a IDIOT stopped her! He almost KILLED them!
"YOU MORON!"
Fear, anguish, and rage, so much rage filled her voice as she screamed at the top of her lungs. "WHY WOULD YOU RISK MY LIFE FOR A MONSTER'S?!" She didn't touch on him risking the purple-haired girl's, or the purple-haired guy's lives, too. She didn't know them, she didn't care about them. She wouldn't even have cared about this boy, but he was so utterly stupid, so sadistic as to nearly throw her under the bus for a monster!
She yelled. She screamed at Naoru, saying nothing, just venting some of her frustration for him towards him. She hated him... she hated him. She screamed at him for so long, so hard, that she had to gasp when she finished, she had to pant softly. Tears were streaming down her cheeks when she stopped, but her mask hid them, and the fearful, angry glare she was giving him. She hated him so much... but she at least could smirk somewhat, seeing him on the ground with so much blood around him. The sight of the sweet, red life calmed her down a little... and reminded her that there was something else she hated more.
The silence, the sweet, sweet silence was deafening in the sweetest way as Luzia slowly turned her head over her shoulder. The movement was so slow, so purposeful, so smooth that there wasn't any question what she had in mind. Luzia slowly breathed in, feeling the air fill her, giving her strength, letting her recover even as the other two, the asshole and the monster, got weaker. She filled herself with strength while she turned completely to the bed. She was right beside it, so she didn't need any more than two steps to be right next to 'Xezo'.
Luzia looked down at the thing that had done this all. She narrowed her eyes at it, for a moment thinking that the white-haired boy, the person she knew was probably a hero student, did kill her. But then she saw it's chest rise, and Luzia grit her teeth again. This thing, this monster... it nearly killed all of them! No, worse, it nearly turned them into monsters like it! And it was still alive!
"I'm gonna do what you couldn't!"
In a better state of mind, Luzia might have noticed that Xezo was scared. Young. That she was trapped in a horrible situation. In a better state of mind, Luzia might have noticed that, in some ways, maybe even a lot of ways, this 'monster' was a lot like her. But, while she was too afraid and strained to notice before, she still couldn't notice now because of her rage. She wanted revenge, she wanted to make this creature pay!
She screamed again, but this scream was one of rage, determination, and hatred. Light whirled violently around her arms, sheathed them with power. There wouldn't be a whole lot of blood, but this time, she didn't think about it, she didn't care this time. She only grinned a grin of sadistic pleasure and tragic desperation as she threw her fists down. The light hummed as it whirled around her arms, and with each punch, it chirped as the impact made it explode. She slammed her fists into the near-dead 'monster', and each impact made her smile just a little bit wider.
Skin bruised. Bones cracked.
Luzia wasn't weak. She could fight back.
Skin tore. Bones broke.
Luzia focused the face and the chest. Hitting the same spots over and over, each strike making her neon explode in a beautiful way for both sight and sound. But that only added to the elation; the best part was feeling the bones under her knuckles break! She punched the monster, over and over and over and over and over. It would be so much better with a knife, but she was settling for beating the shit of it instead! As the rage turned into glee, she started laughing. As she got revenage against the the thing that nearly killed her, her anger went away, replaced with the sort of happiness that only killing gave her. Each punch made her feel better. Each punch wounded Xezo... and several punches probably were more than necessary.
She punched and punched and punched, until her arms started getting weak, until her light was harder and harder to pull out of her, until she was starting to pant. Finally, in one swift motion, she grabbed the needle, the closest thing to a knife in reaching range, and slammed it into the 'creature's' eye, letting out one final yell as she dragged and twisted as best she could. The needle broke almost instantly, but it gave her the blood she needed so much, it gave her the feeling of piercing something she so relished.
She shivered when the needle broke, trembling softly as the elation of the kill coursed through her, but then she let out a soft breath, narrowing her eyes under her mask. She was tired now... she felt empty. But... she was happy. She got to kill again, and she got to kill something that almost killed her. She grinned as she stood back up, giggling as she ran her fingers through her hair... but stopped midway through. She couldn't savor this feeling, not right now. She had to get out of here....
Luzia was calm now, or at least calmer. She could think now. She looked over her shoulder at the white-haired boy. She wanted to kill him, too... she did... but she had to get out of here, and besides, there were two other people that would probably come at any moment. Still, though, she wanted to make him pay... but she had to wait....
She sighed softly as she turned away from him. She didn't have enough neon for even a single punch now, but she had just enough. Pink light floated around her fingertip as she put it against the glass, sliding it around, left, right, up and down, leaving behind a sign, a signature, her sense of power, her cry for attention. She left the same signature, in some form, whenever she had killed someone else. She was famous for it now... a part of her wondered if the people she was with would be surprised... but she couldn't stick around to find out. She couldn't get too creative with her signature, not when she was so low, so she just let it be simple; she just let it announce that she was there.
She pulled away, gave one more glare at the moron that had nearly killed her, and started walking - or limping - away. Behind her, on the glass above the now-corpse, was a simple pink skull, the callsign of the Painter, the very same serial killer that had struck both Tokyo and Musutafu.

Whatever was going on under them, was something Kasey had turned her head to listen. Were they fighting? Why would they fight at a time like this? No, why did she turn away? Kasey snapped back to the problem at hand, the threat. She peaked over her defenses, only to realize, that just that singular moment, her timing was off. She was no longer able to count, she was distracted. "NOW." his voice rang, and Kasey responded, without really knowing if it was too soon or too late. She would turn her shield, the spikes growing, only to be lifted off the ground by the beast. "No. I have to live. I can't die to something like this." she thought to herself. She wanted to die, but not by her. She wanted, no, she needed to be killed, but not by this creature. It had to be someone she loved. It had to pain her. It needed to destroy her. It needed to break not just her body, but her soul. "I still love them. They HAVE TO BE THE ONES TO KILL ME." The force behind the woman sandwiched Kasey between the wall and herself. The spikes of the shield burrowing into her, but cracked, shattered and broken under the impact. Her bone armor breaking down, cracking, and shattering in certain places. Her own defense was beginning to pain her. The shards falling onto the ground. The sounds of broken glass, while she could listen to the screams and cries of the woman. But as Yoshi was frozen, Kasey quickly made use of the room she had to grow a knife and plunge it into the skull of the woman. Even if she was still now, how still would she remain? It was not a gamble she was willing to take. When she was set back onto her feet, she would begin to feel all of the pain and injuries in her body. Her adrenaline beginning to fade, she was learning how much of a toll she was really taking on her body. She walked past the boy, looking over at him, "I'll help you in a second, Mister Kogami. But first-""I'm gonna do what you couldn't!"Kasey quickly leaped down, only to be lost in the darkness of the room. Her mind again falling back into it's own state. Even if the girl was cured, even if the drones were gone, her past haunted her. Her face. She was beautiful. She was kind. She was funny. She was the one they loved. She was always better, always smarter, always cuter. Cherry. Where was Cherry? Where did Cherry go? The darkness, it enveloped her, Kasey reached up to her head, grabbing the sides of her helm as the armor that encased her begin to turn dry and brittle and fall onto the ground. The sounds of glass. The sounds of death. Death? No, why was there death in the room? Kasey looked up, only to watch the needle being cast downwards to Xezo's.... eye. Eye. Susumu once had an eye. Kasey once pulled her own eye from her socket. Could she do the same to save a life? No, that was not a life worth saving. That life was trying to end theirs. It needed to be killed by someone who understood the pain. Something they could understand. Something that could understand them. That was the way of the world. Maybe the girl was one who could share the view with her. Some random civilian. Another girl who was just lost to Japan. To wear a mask to hide from the cameras just like she did. She was just another girl, just like the students. Caught up in the mess just like- That skull. She could remember it. But why? A skull? Why did it follow her? Why did it curse her? Her brother's necklace. His ex's username. Her own quirk. Bones and skulls, skull and bones. "Naoru, you and Kogami need to get out of here." She looked at the girl, the mask over her face fading as her eyes would be revealed from the helm, her phone dropping from it and into her hands. The light of the camera burning away at the battery. "The police and others are on their way. We need to get to them, I'll explain it all." She lifted a limp hand at the woman. "Painter, you need to come with us. When we get to the top, I don't care where you go, but you need to leave."Death, murder, maim, and injuries. One girl had a sprained ankle, and Kasey would help her to the surface. Kogami had his broken ribs, and Naoru had his scarred back, his mind ready to slip away.. Kasey was cut, bleeding all over, but nothing was broken. Unlike the rest of them, in a few days, she would be good as new. But what about them? "We cannot be seen with the dead here. We need to take the cameras to the police."She would assist them in any way she could to get back to ground level. That place was nightmarish, but to her, it was a normal day. It was just another Tuesday, an average Saturday. She didn't think about the impact to her life, but how this one small event in her life, could be simply the pivoting point of all of theirs. At the surface, she would hand over the footage and explain all she could about the drones to reporters and the like. She would take them all to safety. And as far as the police would know, it was The painter who caused the mayhem. Crimson Skull was just a vigilante Janitor who had seen students be heroes and wanted to do the same. A hero among heroes. That was going to be her story. And they she would return to work. And just like tonight, She would clean up the messes others left behind. "Let's go home." she would say. They had all lived to see another day, for now at least. ~ Word Count: 1016 ~ |

Sometimes the only pay-off for having any faith Is when it's tested again and again everyday I'm still comparing your past to my future It might be your wound but they're my sutures From behind the haze of consciousness, everything started to seem like a dream, or more like, an elaborate nightmare. It was Alicia’s screams that he heard first once he fell to the ground but still hanged on to reality. The desperate cries, the sound of the restraints tugging, the grunting and the scared whines were a dead giveaway that Naoru did something terrible. That syringe was there to help, and he thought that was their only chance at stopping Alicia and give her a second chance. Oh, how wrong he was! With both his mind and body spent, Naoru was lying on the floor, useless. He wanted to stand up and ease Alicia’s pain a little, but he couldn’t even so much as raise his head, not to mention do anything else at all. When the momentary silence came, it was more deafening than any noise. Even that didn’t stay long, as the pink-haired girl started to stir next to him, and stood up. Her shouting made only little sense to Naoru’s tired and tried mind as she showered all her pain, disappointment and fear at him. He tried to look her way, to say he was sorry she had to go through all this, to let her know he didn’t mean to do all this, that he just wanted to save one little soul from the darkness, but even that small hope they had might have been her exact demise. But if it meant he had to risk his life for someone that was mistakenly thought as a monster, he would do it again. Naoru wanted to apologize, but his mind was unable to give the order to his body to talk. His back had a gash on its whole length, and it was still bleeding, especially now that he had no Aura to cover it with. His contact lense fell out, but that only meant his eyes looked unusual, rather than damaged. He had cuts on his body where the debris and fallen pieces of the bunker had hit him. And his mind... his mind that was invaded by Alicia herself, that was already less stable than any of his fellow schoolmates’ from the strains of his own quirk was now on the verge of cracking in half. It was a strange feeling of nostalgia that he didn’t ever want to think about. The silence was deafening. But then the worst part came, and Naoru just wished he had lost consciousness before, because he knew the sounds and the little he could see would haunt his nightmares for months. Bones cracking. Skin tearing. Blood dripping. This time, Naoru wanted to scream. He struggled against the constricts of his own fatigue, against the binding on his mind. He reached out with his left hand toward the attacker, the villain before he registered he had no left arm to move anymore. Phantom pain was already rushing through him, but it was drown out by the sounds, by her voice, by the sight. He had to move. Move. Move!Let me out!But he could only crawl millimeters closer, couldn’t get close enough to get the villain’s attention, couldn’t get close enough to distract her. He couldn’t do anything. How could he mess up so bad? See? You should have just let me out. I’ve been telling this the whole time. This kind of pure white has no chance against the blood red and hazy grey of villains. A drawing on the wall was the last thing he saw before darkness caught up with him, and he would be brought up to the surface by someone else to safety. A pink skull, a tag, a signature, and he knew he won’t be able to ever forget it. He made an enemy of the Painter. MADE BY VEL OF GS
