I Am On The Side of Angels Yet I Hold Sympathy For the Devil Tokyo was very far from home for Hachi.
In her youth she had lived away from the city in a small, cozy town-stead close to the mountains. There had been fewer people, a cozier community, and far more plant life all around. She missed the sight of sunlight streaming through tree branches, dyeing everything emerald and gold. She missed the fragrances of flowers and the sight of bees and butterflies around every garden. Still, Tokyo had its charms; the city lights as the sun set late into a summer evening, for example, were colorful and dazzling in a way even a sunset couldn't compare to.
But it wasn't home. It was too loud to be home, too full of faces she didn't recognize, and looks in her direction that were confused or amazed or, worst of all, disgusted. Hachi accepted them all. The world was always going to regard her in a mix of good and bad. The best thing she could do was remind herself that she was here to help them, and that maybe, someday, that help would turn those cold looks into ones of kindness.
Maybe.
It felt funny to hope for such a thing. It had been decades since she began fighting for the people, and yet still they looked upon her with fear or anger. And if the government knew everything she had done...
...well. Even if her chance had passed, her students may still yet find that awe and admiration. The love of the people they protected. No more hateful eyes.
Someday.
For now, though, she just continued to hover along the bustling streets. It was approaching nine pm on a Saturday, and she had come out to drink with a few friends that had gotten in touch with her from school. Not being much for loud parties in tight spaces she'd politely left when they said they were going to a club. It had been good to see them, though. All of them had been so excited to hear about her work at U.A. That sort of relaxed, accepting air gave her more hope than-
"THIEF!!"
Hachi's train of thought came to a jolting stop at the scream of a young woman just a block ahead of her. She was pointing down a side street with a shocked expression and shaking arm. "Th-THAT MAN JUST TOOK MY PURSE! The man with the t-Tengu mask!!"
A few people around her began pulling out their phones, making calls to police, asking if she was okay. As they should. Little acts of heroism. Hachi, however, raised her head above them all and drew in a breath.
I've been up all day...I just wanted to catch the train...
...ah, dammit.
With a roll of her shoulders, Hachi's wings began to beat faster and faster, the vibrations they made creating a loud buzzing noise that caused the crowd to look at her in surprise. The people gasped as they watched Hachi lift off from her spot on the street until she was several feet above the tallest people among them, and then with a gust of wind, she was off down the side-street. Her arms held tight to her side, compound red eyes scanning for where the criminal could have gone. Lucky for her--and unluckily for him--the street was one-way, and led at a hard right angle into the nearest avenue. With her speed she'd catch him before he cleared it and made a proper escape.
Assuming nobody was on the other end to catch him.

Meanwhile, as per his new schedule. G once again plenty of alone time when Susumu wasnt around. Oh wait..it was Saturday. She was around. But oh well, while she was busy, G once again grabbed his journal and pen and decided to write in another entry in Hawaiian He wrote: Entry 2. Hello dear reader. Fancy seeing you here since this isnt meant for you, but me and only me. HAH!....yep. Im talking to myself like usual. I've learned how to keep myself company over the years of being alone. And well, you might wonder. "But G...Dawg.... Boi. Where's entry 1, this is entry 2!" Well to tell you the truth... THIS IS ENTRY 2! Entry 1 is the intro. But I just didnt know back then that you can simply title things 'entry 1', 'entry 2', 'entry 3' and so on and so forth. Now I guess I should actually express some feelings and shit here. Well mostly feelings since shit is reserved for the bathroom. Anyway I'm reeaallly putting this off. So last time I said I can feel the sins crawling on my back. Well, I do. I wont lie that I broke the law and did some terrible things which I wont list if anything happens to me...Im sorry, I know I should let it all out even if it is highly compromising, but I just cant and Im breaking the flow.. Ah.. um...I did bad stuff. Now I know what Im about to say will sound like an excuse to people. But I swear, its not an excuse...its more of a reasoning. A motive, so to say. And well before I was a miserable man. And when you're miserable, you need to make someone even more miserable than yourself to feel better. And it helped me, making people suffer, it helped me suffer less. It let me know that I wasnt the only one suffering. Now, you might say "You have a girlfriend. A daughter and a little sister! Surely you stopped because you arent miserable anymore" And well...I gotta say is that you're wrong. I'm still very miserable. I feel miserable still. Maybe even more because I cant do what I did. I try to do good deeds, but I get punished for it. Or.. well... The people see me as a Villain. They think I'm a creep even though I'm a Vigilante. I try to be like "oh hey, its all cool, it doesnt matter". But it does. And it hurts. And sometimes I think why bother being a Vigilante, if you're treated like a criminal. I dont know, I cant put it into words. Not yet. Hopefully writting this will help me express myself verbally more.
And seeing as he was in a way writter blocked, he decided to abruplty end there. He closed the journal and hid it in its usual spot. Looking at the time he saw that as per usual he would go and patrol and do some Vigilante work. But honestly, he didnt want to. But also, he couldnt sleep. He sighed and decided to just go out on a walk. Do something to clear his head. "I dont know how to feel. Is empty the right word?" he thought But then. Suddenly his train of thought was interrupted by commotion "THIEF!! THAT MAN TOOK MY PUSRE!!THAT MAN WITH THE TENGU MASK". G just sighed, he didnt want to do this, he had enough. No more Hero work. He already said he took a month long hiatus from heroing or vigilantism. But once again, to G's dismay, he saw a man with a purse, wearing a tengu mask run towards his direction. G just facepalmed "God fucking damn it" he thought to himself and then summoned Goliath who grabbed the man and slammed him to the ground and kept him pinned down "I!!! AM NOT!!!! IN THE MOOD!!! TO DEAL WITH THIS SHIT!!!!" he angrily yelled to the robber. The man came running towards G in such a bad time. If there werent people around, he'd be beating the robber down to the ground. He felt like getting his hands dirty and he had such little restraint at the moment. He knew that people would call the police because of this man. So G had to find a way to restrain the robber quickly and then take his leave

I Am On The Side of Angels Yet I Hold Sympathy For the Devil Hachi rounded the corner of the alley just in time for a new voice to yell from down the way, and the sight on the other side surprised her so much that she came to a dead stop, still mid-air, to take it in. The robber in the mask was struggling under the weight of an enormous creature that was holding him down by his arms. Besides them a man with stark white hair and dressed in black was shouting at him. And, quite frankly, Hachi could relate to the mood the man was stating.
It was an impressive sight to see--whether the beast was an insect or crustacean, she wasn't sure--but the robber wasn't stunned for long. Slowly what skin was visible on his hands, neck, and just behind his mask began to ripple, black feathers growing in their place, and it seemed his body was beginning to shrink. Hachi's eyes widened slightly. A transformation Quirk?
Ah, that explains the mask.
However, Hachi was too fast to react to the robber's attempt to escape. Turning her body so her long legs extended first, she dove at him with a sharp kick that landed right into his right temple. The mask was knocked right off his face on impact, and the robber let out a startled sound of pain before his head lulled back. The black feather disappeared into his skin. He was out cold. With that, Hachi dropped to the ground. As soon as she did she drew in a deep breath, her muscles screaming at her for all that flying and tensing up for a kick without the proper preparation. Urrgh...
"...that was a good catch," she finally spoke, her breathing slightly uneven. Looking down at the unconscious robber she took note of his facial features. Aside from a few feathers growing from his jaw he was an unremarkable looking fellow--not a face she'd seen in police sightings or crime reports, likely just a cut-purse who was trying his luck. She looked at the man and the large creature next. What a curious outfit he was wearing. Then again, she was walking around as a giant bee. Who was she to judge. "The police should be here in a bit. You can take the credit for this one."
After a moment she added, "What are your names? I don't believe I've seen you in the hero rosters before."

Not in the right mind to deal with crime fighting, he was totally sloppy and forgot the fact that the robber did not use his quirk. The robbers Quirk activation caught G off guard, but luckily before he did anything, A GIANT BEE swooped in and kicked his ass "So majestic" G thought as his inner entomologist was amazed of the sight of a humanoid humble bumblebee.
She then suddenly turn to him and told him that it was a good catch. G just raises his arm and gives her a thumbs up, but then noticed her uneven breathing "Hey are you ok, lady?" he asked clearly not knowing who she is. He assumes she must be some new rookie Vigilante, seeing as she was out of breath. Maybe she was new and not trained? But then as soon as she said police, he froze "Wait what? W-why isnt she scared of the police? Vigilantes are illegal right?? Unless...sh-she's a Pro Hero?? FUCK" G thought to himself as the police would be less then thrilled to see him. He's an Ex Villain turned Viglante. And the police wont give a damn if he's Ex Villain. All they'll see if Villain. If Civillians think he's a creep, the police would have a field day with G, especially with his criminal record. This made him go pale a bit. Especially when the bee woman asked him for their names. And she said she didnt see them in the hero rosters "She'll look under Vigilantes and the Villains" he thought "I'm j-just a good samaritan. A-A good deed i-is its o-own reward" he barely stuttered out and tried to quickly make his way... away from this crime scene as he started backing away slowly and carefully from her and the unconcious criminal. Goliath just followed and watched G's back in case someone tried to attack him

I Am On The Side of Angels Yet I Hold Sympathy For the Devil His concern was met with a weak smile, though with how her face was positioned it wasn't visible to him. "I'm fine. I'm...fine. Flight takes a lot out of me," she explained with as even a voice as her breathing could manage. She would need to recover some strength, have something to eat. She had just wanted to take the train home, but...in this state, she would likely fall asleep on the ride. That wouldn't be good. Hachi tilted her head at the man's odd behavior. Was he scared?
Ah.
"You are a vigilante," she stated, rather than asked. It made sense. The mere mention of the police had unnerved him, and his prior reaction to a criminal had been reflexive. He was used to catching them, but as for dealing with the legitimate authorities? Not so much. Hachi could understand. She had only become a "Hero" recently. Three years ago...well, she would have reacted in the same manner. As would Solenn.
Bending over she picked up the unconscious robber and hefted him over one shoulder--he was small compared to her, even when she was walking rather than hovering--and took up the lost purse with her free hand. "I'll take him back to the main street, then. Thank you for you help." Hachi turned to start walking.
Then her knees wobbled.
...ah, shit. I'm out of practice. He's heavy and I'm...
A small swear escaped her as Hachi teetered to the side, catching herself against the wall of the building. She leaned forward as much as the robber's weight allowed without dropping him. Even though he was a criminal, if she dropped him he'd take more injuries than were necessary. Dammit. Dammit. This wouldn't have been an issue before. This would have been easy. What kind of a hero was she, getting exhausted after a single flight, after a single kick? A weak one.
Solenn would mock me for this.
Hachi drew in a shallow breath. "...I...hate to ask this. But. If you would please...take him off my shoulder before I drop him? Quickly. Please. I'm..." she laughed bitterly, "...not as practiced as I once was."

She was the first person to call him a Vigilante, it felt so nice. But nevertheless, he was not able to deal with police, no matter how she saw him. The bee woman was kind to take him away to the authories herself, after all she was a hero! But then seeing her wobble and bee weak, he just looked and thought "A very rusty hero" She then called for his help to take this robber off of her. G oblidged and grabbed the robber "Ok, I'll help you carry him, but first sign of cops and Im gone" he told her while holding the robber. Since she was the hero in all of this "Lead the way." Where ever she went, he would follow, Goliath as well
Speaking of the Spirit Animal. Goliath wanted to pick up the bee woman, but couldnt do anything without being ordered too. For now he decided to let things play out, but if the lady was too weakened, he didnt mind carrying her where ever she wanted to go.
If Hachi managed to lead the way, G would ask her some questions, as a form of small talk while they help her put the robber away. "So... what's your name or Hero name?" he asked

I Am On The Side of Angels Yet I Hold Sympathy For the Devil The alley felt longer when she wasn't flying, but that may have just been how much her legs were protesting. Hachi sighed in relief as the weight on her shoulders was removed, and she turned to start walking properly with the strange vigilante at her side and the larger...something following behind them. He claimed that he would flee at the first sight of the police. Hachi nodded. "I understand. Thank you, again, for helping."
The three--well, four, if you count the unconscious man--made their way through the side street as a casual pace. Maybe slower than casual. Hachi didn't walk often, but her wings were sore from flying. At least the vigilante was making small talk. "I went by Hornet when I was acting illegally. Now, though, I'm called Yellow Jacket. But...I'm not used to that name. If you don't mind, please call me Tsutsuji-san." She gave him a small bow of her head in greeting. A little out-of-order, all things considered, but it worked. Sort of.
"What name do you go by? And your, ah, friend," Hachi looked behind herself at Goliath, "Does he speak? He's been silent since I arrived. I...assure you, I don't bite."
Were they a team, much like she had been in before? It made sense. In the vigilante scene, having a partner at your side to protect you and to get you out of trouble, and vice versa, was the difference between being caught or not. Though in this situation, perhaps one was the muscle and the other the brains. Hmm.
"You're very impressive," she added as an after-thought to Goliath, and then looked at G, "Are you two friends?" .

The simple thank you meant the world to him. The woman then introduced herself as Hornet..and then said her new name was Yellow Jacket and then later said that she can be called Tsutsuji-san. That was... interesting "Huh...Tsutsuji...interesting. It's funny you'd give away your real name...or well, I hope its an alias. Giving away your real name is dangerous. Now about your Hero name...umm... I'm sorry. I didnt know you were a hornet...or wasp. I thought you were a bee" he said
Then she asked him for his name, which just made him take a breath. There was obviously no way he'd tell her his real name. And his most well known name? G?... It was his Villain name which became his Vigilante name. He didnt wanna change his name nor looks when he made the leap from Villainy to Vigilantism. He wanted the people to see that a guy like him could change. So... all he had left is his alias "Call me Genzu. And that there is Goliath"
Alrthough when she asked if he's G's friend or if he speaks "Goliath is my Sprit Animal... my Quirk. I guess you could say that he's my friend and partner. But 70% of the time, I work solo. And he doesnt speak. Or if he does... it'd be like talking to a dog.. or whatever isopods sound like." G said

I Am On The Side of Angels Yet I Hold Sympathy For the Devil Ah, perhaps it wasn't a wise idea to give her last name to a stranger, but Hachi didn't seem too bothered at the moment. It may have been her exhaustion, or it may have been that she didn't care. A name was a name.
"It is. And I am. But not many criminals would be intimidated by me had I gone by the name 'Bee'. would they?" She chuckled softly, "If you were to look at me purely as an insect, I most closely resemble a Japanese honeybee. Hornet was given to me by a friend, and I chose Yellow Jacket as...well, a compromise."
It couldn't be my old name. I'm sorry, Solenn.
"Your Quirk? He's your..." Hachi's red eyes widened, bemusement momentarily filling her features. So his Quirk allowed him to summon another being from nothing, to aid him in fighting? And it wasn't just an empty illusion or shell, Goliath--a fitting name--had a mind of its own to some degree. Enough that Genzu could call him a "friend" and "partner". Fascinating. "I've never known a Quirk like that. What is he capable of? He definitely looks powerful. Do you share pain, or your thoughts? Did you choose his appearance? Either way, why an isopod, if you don't mind my asking?"
Whatever his answers, Hachi seemed to have gathered up a bit more energy just from her curiosity alone. she was even buzzing slightly. Not loudly, but enough to hear if one listened carefully. It was almost drowned out by the Tokyo nightlife just a street away.
"How long have you been fighting crime, Genzu?"

Interesting, so the woman called herself Hornet or Yellow Jacket even though it was scientifically incorrect "Really? What about Killer Bee? That's intimidating. You're a Japanese honey bee and Killer Bee's are Africanised honey bees" G would say, revealing that, he has quite a bit of knowledge about insects.
After that they talked about his own Quirk and it seemed that miss Tsuchi-Tsu....um... bee was very interested in Goliath and started barraging them with questions. "He's powerful, we dont share pain nor thoughts. I cant choose his appearance. He takes form based of my personality, likes and dislikes. He is in a way a manifestation of me. Sure he's an isopod now. But if I change. He changes. And what he does? Well.... I cant reveal all my Quirk secrets to you" G said as he carried the robber and hoped that he would be finished
Thinking how the woman said she hasnt known of a Quirk like this. G thought that its because he was Hawaiian. He had his own theories and ideas how Quirks worked. He believed some quirks were rarer in certain places and more common in another. Quirks are also tied with genes. And with him being Hawaiian, he assumed that no Japanese person would have a Spirit Animal. Since Spirit Animals are more from native american culture. Another thing G always imagined with Quirks is that people would get quirks based on their personality. G was lonely and also liked pretending to be a Boss. So he gained a quirk that would grant him a companion. Miku loved nature, so she got plant manipulation.
But then the bee woman snapped him out of his thoughts and asked him for how long he worked as a Vigilante "Umm... 5, 4, 3 years ago ish?..Umm... early 20's" he said. When he started fighting crime was debatable. 5 years ago he adopted Miku and promised to change, but back then even when fighting crimes, he was very villanous and monsterous. He didnt really know if that is his true starting point of crime fighting

I Am On The Side of Angels Yet I Hold Sympathy For the Devil "I...believe there was a comic book hero by that name once, but I'm not sure. Regardless, I've already signed all my documents by that name. I won't be changing it for some time. Thank you, though, for you input." Hachi smiled, her face at such an angle that it was visible to Genzu given their height differences. What a strange fellow this vigilante was. His Quirk was fascinating and appeared very strong. It would also have a multitude of uses given he could call on Goliath to handle one part of a problem while he dealt with the other. Four hands--or, well, six, given Goliath's multiple arms--were better than two in many, many situations.
So...why wasn't he a hero?
"You're only in your twenties? You're younger than most vigilantes I know. Or, well, knew, I guess."
Just before the rounded the corner that would put them in line of sight with the main streets of Tokyo, Hachi stopped. She peered out to see the crowd still gathered there, though thinned slightly, and some phones were still out and those on them speaking to authorities. She turned to look at Genzu. "I don't see any police yet. I...believe it's safe if you want to carry him out to the crowd with me, and I can tie him to the bench while waiting for them to arrive. But if you'd rather not, I can call for one of the crowd to help. And you can..."
Leave? But there's more I want to ask. More I want to know. I haven't spoken to a vigilante in so long. How has the scene changed since heroes took the stage? Are any of the names I knew still out there? Are they being arrested? Jailed? Put on probation?
Why aren't they becoming heroes?
She was silent for a moment, then spoke quietly, "...I...if it isn't too much of an imposition, I would like to talk more. About your choice to be a vigilante. I'm not going to turn you in, if that's a fear you have...I simply would like to continue this conversation after this man is taken care of. So. If you would rather not get involved at the moment, then would you stay close? Perhaps, wait at a cafe or something nearby, if you know any? And I will meet you when this is done."
"...if not, I understand, and I won't bother you further."

She seemed surprised that he was in his 20's. Did his insomnia and lack of sleep make him look THAT old. Well...there WAS a time when people thought that he was in his 50's, with the bags under his eyes and the white hair "I'm 25, thank you very much" he said his age
The two...or three walked and just before they rounded the corner that would put them in line of sight with the main streets of Tokyo, the bee woman stopped and peered out to see the crowd still gathered there. G honestly didnt know what she saw since he didnt dare to look. But when the woman returned to him, she said that she didnt see any police. She said that if he wanted that he could carry the robber to the crowd before going silent
G used that moment to say "Ok. I'll drop him off where ever" and thus he dismissed Goliath because he would certainly draw unwanted looks and reactions
But suddenly the bee woman spoke again. She wanted to.... talk to him more? Just these questions were enough to give him a headache "Ok ok. Take it slow. Just... lets take this guy where ever and we can talk"

I Am On The Side of Angels Yet I Hold Sympathy For the Devil Hachi chuckled, a claw rising to her chin. He sounded so indignant at her comment about his age. Still, twenty-five felt like so very long ago to her. It was hard to tell her age, though, given her alien, bug-like features. At least she never got carded...if only because no waiter alive dared to guess her age. "I'm thirty-three. I apologize, I'm not trying to sound like I'm talking down to you. You're just very young for the lifestyle you've chosen, compared to other vigilantes."
Then again perhaps there was a reason he was going around the law to protect people, despite being the proper age to apply for a hero license. Anti-authoritarianism, perhaps. She would ask him later.
He agreed to come out with her into the crowd, and to speak with her more once this matter was settled. Hachi gave a happy little buzz and, with an intake of breath, hovered back up by a few inches so she was the same height she'd been "standing" at before flying off the first time. Then, nodding to G, the two would go out onto the main street. The crowd's eyes were immediately on them. A few phone's camera flashes lit up--filming, most likely, given the flash held--and the woman who had cried "thief" came up to Hachi timidly.
"You--my purse? You caught him? Thank you!"
Hachi nodded and removed the handbag from her shoulder to hold out for the woman to take, which she did. "I did not. I only recovered your purse. This gentleman is the one who caught and subdued our robber. He deserves your thanks, not me."
The woman's eyes went to G and she hesitated. However, if she was anxious to approach a taller-than-six-feet bee woman, she was far less so to go up to another human. She gave G a deep bow. "Thank you so much, Ojisama...thank you, thank you so much!"
Ojisama? Hachi had to press her claws to her mouth to hide her laugh. The woman barely looked older than twenty herself, but she was referring to him by a title reserved for far older men...oh dear. Poor Genzu.

It turned out that the bee woman was 33. But what was weird is that according to her, he was young to be a Vigilante? Is she saying that people become Vigilantes far later in life? That was something G didnt know. He was far more familiar Villians rather then Vigilantes. He met like.. one or two Vigilantes maybe. Sunhawk and Ghost Princess were the first to come to mind. Meanwhile with the Villains he knew plenty of em, Lady Lavande, Big Sister, The Painter and plenty more. He knew that Villians could come in all shapes and sizes. Young and old. He didnt know that Vigilantes were supposed to be old "I'm young for this?" he thought to himself
Taking a sigh, the two went into the crowd, and the crowds eyes were right on them. G didnt know if the crowd was on them because a giant bee woman was amongst them or because an ex Villain was amongst them. All G knew was, he wanted to be gone asap. He even saw flashes, which meant people taking pictures with their phones "Dont recognize me, dont recognize me" G mentally prayed to himself not to get attacked
While he worried, the woman approached the bee lady and was glad that the bee lady caught the robber and thanked him. But then, what shocked him that the bee woman actually gave him the glory. G at this point wanted to sink into the earth. He was not used to being in the spotlight, he even got a bit choked up and unprepared. The woman approached him and even bowed to him and thanked him "Y-you're welcome, miss" he barely said "What's Ojisama" was all he could think

I Am On The Side of Angels Yet I Hold Sympathy For the Devil The woman stood up from her bow and, with her purse, stepped back to a few member of the crowd that seemed to be her friends or whomever she had been with when the robber had attacked her. Hachi's eyes stayed trained to Genzu, however, and his curious response to being thanked. He didn't seem quite comfortable with it, misused titles aside. He had said he'd been fighting crime for the last five years, though.
Was he not the sort to communicate with the people? Up until very recently, vigilantes had been the people's heroes, even if the government thought otherwise. Did he not like interacting with the people he saved?
What a curious man he was.
"Place him on that bench," she addressed Genzu without using his name, just in case he didn't want it said to the crowd, "And thread his arms between the planks. I think I have a zip-tie to put on his wrists."
Once the robber was in place, Hachi pulled out an aforementioned zip-tie from her own bag and slid it over his wrists and pulled it tight enough to restrain, but not so much as to cut off blood-flow. All the while the crowd's eyes were watching them with fascination. Hachi accepted their gaze. This was, after all, the first time she had ever performed a heroic act with her license, let alone done something in such a crowded place. She stood back up to full height and looked at the woman. "I assume you will be pressing charges?"
The woman flinched in surprise. "I--I, yes, I will be."
"Good. And there are enough witnesses to provide apt testimonies. I will be taking my leave now." Hachi turned to Genzu, but then, like she was just remembering something, looked back at the woman, "If you wish, tell the police he was apprehended by Pro Hero Yellow Jacket. He should stay unconscious until they arrive. Please have a safe, uneventful evening."
The crowd began to whisper among themselves, a sudden flame sparked to life by the words "pro hero". More cameras flashed away, and a few voices rose up:
"Hero!"
"She's a hero!"
"A pro hero!"
"I've never seen one!"
"Is he a hero, too?"
But Hachi didn't address them. Instead she nodded at Genzu and raised an arm to him. "Shall we go talk? I would stay for the police, but this is covered. Let's go before they get a clear shot of you, petit coléoptère."
