The car came to a stop, and Lady Ishtar stepped out. If the fat man did not recognize her by her build, or her glowing eyes- It was quite obvious who she was when he became one of her demands. It seemed the miss did have some conscience after all. He smiled softly, but unfortunately, it seemed that the cops cared more about arresting him than protecting the poor innocent (heh) Chernova. Or perhaps they had seen through their disguise? Unlikely. He hadn't heard any chatter across that radio this time. That strangely perceptive guy wasn't a factor, so these failures would naturally fail.
However, as though he did not realize their decision by their attitude, he smiled cordially. "Very well, gentlemen. It appears that this is where we part." And turning to the leader once more- "If you should fall on hard times, do keep me in mind. My company could always use men of... Integrity." He added, without a hint of the tension a hostage should have. Naturally, they wouldn't let him leave so easily- But it wouldn't be so easy for them to stop him. The crowds of petty criminals who had similarly found this gap in the wall, for one. With his shields no longer raised in their favor, how many of this small squad could afford to train their weapons on him? And for the few close enough to stop him...
"Que'er." A crackling voice over the radio was all the girl needed. "Roger, boss! Don't forget to catch me!" The girl chirped back, even as her broad wings folded tightly against her back. A pitifully small figure dropped from the sky like a diving falcon.
Back on the ground, Wang Ba put away the radio, and focused his attention on those few policemen who were close enough to stop him. That silly Que'er- Saying to catch her, wasn't that the same as telling them what she was doing? But then, these men had never seemed the brightest tools in the shed... And even if they knew, it would be the same. As the standoff continued, perhaps they would even notice the figure coming closer and closer, like a shooting star... Or perhaps not, as all eyes were on himself and the lady Ishtar.
But even if they saw, what would they think? Naturally, they would expect for the winged girl to pull out of her dive- Crashing into the ground at such speeds was a naturally suicidal move. Perhaps she would pick up her boss and fly him away to victory- Of course, that couldn't happen. Her wings simply weren't strong enough to hold the weight of the massive man, even if her arms were. And perhaps by now, someone had noticed the ominous light coming from the man's right hand.
It would happen in an instant. A red meteorite descended from the heavens- No, it was a girl, falling from the sky. A hand raised, a ruby shining bright enough to illuminate the man's face- For once, not smiling. A brilliant orb encased the descending body- Crashing into the ground and shattering, along with the ruby. Light dimmed and faded from the shards, even as the dust settled. Between the repulsion force of the barrier and the impact with the ground, those nearby policemen would be forced aside- The exact opening Wang Ba desired.
As for his living projectile... As seen by the foolish grin on her face when he smiled at her, she was just fine. Well, she had better be. "You'll be paying off that gem, you know." He'd invested quite a lot into her, after all. It would be a shame to lose it all now. For her part, the girl merely laughed it off. She was clearly quite used to this... And besides, the debt she owed the boss, was far greater than any money could pay. Hiding her limp, she would saunter back over to the fat man's side, and together they would casually stroll towards the other villain.
"Lady... Ishtar, was it? Truly, for loyalty like this, a few billion is nothing." He claimed, referring to his obscene quote from earlier- And making it clear he was aware of her disguise. Next to him, a head tilted in confusion. Loyalty? A few billion? What was the boss talking about, anyways? Wondered the girl who never could put two and two together. "It seems that this may be the beginning of a fruitful cooperation." He didn't bother reaching out for a handshake. For one, he had no desire to melt. For another- A handshake deal meant nothing, compared to cold, hard, cash. And if, after this, he didn't provide any benefits at all- Why, who would ever work with him again?
Releases any barriers he had protecting the police from the mobs, forcing some of them to focus on those, while others are focused on Ishtar, minimizing the ability to interfere with himself.
Makes a cryptic call to the airborn Zhu Que.
Zhu Que divebombs the cops, being mostly protected from the fall damage by a timely barrier.
Don't ask about Zhu Que's standing debt. It's a scary number. Almost as scary as the interest rate.
Wang Ba and the slightly injured Que'er casually join Ishtar
Implies a promise of cooperation per their previous discussion in return for her aid.
