at most I'm sleeping all these demons away How horrible could it be, a damn panic attack over nothing special? She thought that it would go fine but she believed she had only made it worse by staying instead of running away. However, she had managed, she had managed and it was perhaps fun for as far as it took her to de-stress and she felt bad for making such a big deal out of it and for making it clear that she did not like it, she should tell him. She should explain to him why she hated Christmas and she should warn him for new years' eve because she was going to be terrible as well. That's when she almost dropped her glass, oh shit his birthday was the day after that, after new years. Oh, how come this was a terrible decision. She should break up, for multiple reasons, she felt horrible and when she trashed her bag on the table, she should have stayed at his place this evening too, if it was possible because well she didn't want to throw herself at him and in two days she really needed to lock herself in. Two days, starting today, she had two days. She just had to consider what to do, how to tell, better did she tell G on time before he thought bad things about them. But she just thought about breaking up with him because he deserved so much better, especially for his family and her derailing over all these things on Christmas and how he tried to protect Haruuhi or Miku. He was good, he deserved kids and she did not want anything. She couldn't handle kids, how would she handle kids if her parents were so venomous? How could she handle kids if she was a big baby about things? How could she handle kids when she was sure she would be a terrible mother. He deserved to know! As she stared at the insides of her bag, she noticed the business card from pink Jackal. She had wanted to ask G about that as well but she forgot. Maybe she should just go herself, anonymous because of the masks and she was glad about that idea at this point, she should definitely enjoy that moment. She tied her long blonde hair up in a ponytail and went to look for something to wear, so she found a green dress with a colour with fake pearls on it. She found her leather jacket from somewhere in her closet and went to put on white pumps. She would be ready to go with this dead skull, dressed as herself. Whatever they thought she would be dressed as was fine with her. She went to find a taxi outside with a very small purse with just the highest needs in it, her black phone and some cards like the credit card and her identity card. When she arrived at pink jackal at the ungodly hour of midnight, she could not imagine how she stayed up so late but now that she had everything fixed and ready to go, she wanted to see someone who seemed interesting enough and drink an awful lot. She stood in line, waiting for this amount of people to get inside. She brushed her long blonde hair over her shoulder and looked away, maybe she should look on her phone, but she actually did not want to. She felt a bump into her ribs and looked at the person next to her who ushered her to look at the bouncer who recognized her from weeks ago and said she could go through. He removed the cord and let her enter, handing her a mask. Okay, that was one part, now to remove her own thoughts and drink. MADE BY VEL OF GS

[ Music ] She held onto the glass by the rim with nothing but her fingertips. The amber liquid dancing around the cold frozen rocks. She surveyed the crowd. The masks of people, the costumes. Some people being themselves, cosplaying others. She could see the Darkshine copies, the mimics of Army of One, the girls who wanted to be a sexy Red horn. Kasey's foot tapped the ground as she looked over all of the paper masks, all of the people who came in regular clothing. She was just a step down from the DJ's stage. The man who wore his own mask, his own tool while he spun the records and played the songs. Kasey nodded along to the beat, only as several eyes looked upon her. "That journalist, or reporter that came here a few nights ago is back. Perhaps she is here to see how this place really works." The voice of the being rang from behind her. The figure standing tall behind her, his hand on the back of her neck. Kasey nodded. The hand of the figure pressed to her skin, blood beginning to drip as he burrowed his grip onto the girl. "I suppose we shouldn't keep them waiting." Kasey spoke to him, he being being pulled, sucked into her body. Bones to bones, his clothing to fall upon the ground, as he again entered the comfy suit that was his master, "It's rude to keep people waiting," his voice would begin, locked to her mind. Her face covered in the membrane made of the same material of before. Her white hair loose, and set over her body. A black dress shirt with thick white pinstripes. A black vest and a white tie, and white slacks to match. The girl was setting down the stage, as the blood begun to dry on the back of her neck, her collar soaking the wound as her hair covered the traces of it. Her sleeves to her wrists, her scarred and cut hands would be revealed as she moved through the crowd, her drink swirling around in her glass she weaved in and out of the crowd to find the girl. Watching eyes of her employees, she followed their directions to find the girl. "Ah, Mizuki, you've came back." Kasey would say, greeting the woman. By why was she here? ~ Word Count: 390 ~ |

at most I'm sleeping all these demons away The music was drowning out any thought she held onto. Right now she wanted to stay here for forever, two days. It was like narrowing down her world where she would be the doom and gloom walking around in person. In two days, she would not even walk around. In three days she would not be around either to be able to form opinions she would be more doom than anything and not want to see people. Oh god, she was too focused on things in the future and too much in the past that she almost forgot to actually think about the here and now at this point. To be in a club and only think about the bad things. She should let the music sway her, she should take 5 shots, all at once to get over this point. All she had to remember was not to go home with some stranger because she had G. she was doing him wrong by being here. She hated herself. Before she could reach the bar, she was stopped by Macabre. She looked at the gorgeous young lady in her pinstriped shirt and white slacks, god if only she could wear that but she really, really hated jeans or pants anything along the lines. She fitted the black and white theme without even trying. Here Hana was in green. She managed yesterday, by miracle. God why was she doing so difficult, it was just this time of the year. Actually, it would be 1 more day, considering it was past midnight, making it the 27th. Tomorrow. Shit tomorrow. "Please, call me Hanako. I was actually quite curious about your club on the day after Christmas. I see that's very busy." Business talk, she didn't want business talk. She wanted someone to talk to, someone that would listen to her talk nonsense. Someone to shake her back into regular thinking and telling her not to break up with G because that were ridiculous thoughts when she was happy. Right now it made sense that she wasn't happy at all. She was not sure how she would get to the bar with all these people and she looked back at Lady Macabre. How to be able to run such a business at this age already, she must be younger or the same age as her and that was a really interesting perspective. Maybe she would write about that. The problem was that she had nothing interesting to tell about her except that she owned this place at a young age. A place where people could come together. She remembered the words, villains and heroes. Some of them were dead inside anyway, just like she felt about her situation right now. MADE BY VEL OF GS

She seemed to want to make small talk. Fitting for someone who only wanted data, and wasn't about feelings. The question was if she was here to exploit Kasey hiring students part time, or if she was here for a better reason, one that would actually help her. "Yeah, well, everyone who doesn't have a family, or a home, the Pink Jackal welcomes them." Pink. Jackal. Kasey was paying her respects to her sister, a girl she lost to time, one that fought for her to return. A girl who killed her parents, their parents, for separating them. Cherry. Her favorite color was pink, as was the color of their hair. Anubis, her code name for her evil and dark dealings. Kasey couldn't forget the life her sister lived. She would take it all back to endure that burden alone, so she would have had to... "Or people trying to hide away from family, we get those type too." she would say with a laugh. She offered the girl to enter, with Kasey as her escort. "Care for a drink? It's on the house. Surely you didn't come all this way just to talk, so why not have some fun?" Kasey offered it all to the woman, her name, Hanako. A strange one. One she would remember. Hanako. It reminded her of someone. ~ Word Count: 223 ~ |

at most I'm sleeping all these demons away "That's actually a warming thought." She couldn't help but say, maybe she should spend her new year's here. That was to say if G did not invite her. Would she be able to handle that? Another disastrous idea like yesterday. Why did he hold her hand like that? Had he seen her nerves? He must have considering how long she stayed in his bedroom and yet everything must have gone well enough if he asked her to stay, maybe not with so many words but he stopped her from leaving that night. Or well the whole day considering her panic attack. Don't think about it, Hana. "How did you come up with the name? It's not something you hear every day." That's what she had wanted to ask already during their last meeting but it slipped her mind. She also had wanted to ask if Lady Macabre knew G, considering she said Gigi adopted a new child.. and he had adopted Haruuhi recently. Her question got lost in the noise of the crowd, she actually did not care, she did not feel like talking business but her ears did get what the Lady said next. Hide away. She did not have to hide away from her family, it was not difficult when you were the last one alive. "Tell me about it, I think I basically ruined Christmas for my boyfriend." She muttered, definitely now needing a drink. She was sure she could not ruin Christmas for G, he looked very happy, content and... calm, oddly. Even to Akio, but that only made her feel worse about the whole day. The day before, the 24th had been wonderful, it was just the two of them, baking, cooking, in his kitchen till their hearts content together. Dots of dough on each cheek, laughing and kisses and... Back to the present, Hana. "Oh no, I definitely came to have some fun. So, I would love a drink." She answered Lady Macabre, back from her tumbling mind that kept pulling back to the man that she loved the most, yet believed was destroying in her destructive mind. Something she would hate herself for and tried to avoid with all cost. She looked around, it was easier with Macabre by her side to walk to the bar, everyone seemed to move out of her way. Maybe it was the clothing that got people staring at her, so elegant looking and beautiful. "I wish G was here." She muttered out loud to herself. Shut up, Hana. MADE BY VEL OF GS

A question that had a million answers, all with the same two words. "My sister." she would tell the woman. She would answer over the music, the cheering, all until they got to the bar. As she asked for the drink, the woman dressed in death went around the counter. Her staff moving to the music, each of them swaying and stepping to the music. They tossed bottles back and forth, mixing drinks and setting up a show. All of them were enjoying themselves, as all of them should have. Kasey would take two glasses, both of them unlabeled, and seemed to glow a bright color. A vibrant blue and green, mixing, and despite logic, turned to a bright violet. She smiled, taking the glass, covering it and shaking it, the liquid swirling around as the ice blocks were thrown up and down. She spun around, tossing it behind her back to her staff, who tossed it back to her. She would take it, pouring the mix into two glasses. "Don't worry, it's not that strong at all, at least, only in flav-" she spoke, only for her mind to linger on the single letter she had let fall from her lips. G? No no no no no NO. "The woman is a pest. She knows too much.""She knows about us. We have to kill her. We'll serve her with the next batch of nachos."
"Okay, maybe not that much. She definitely knows somethin-"
"NOPE. I'MA KILL AND ASK QUESTIONS LATER."
"NO, YURI WOULDN'T WANT THAT."
"Ugh, I hate being on good behavior."Kasey slid the glass to the woman, a smile on her face. "Well, at least you probably didn't piss off your brother trying to catch Santa Claus. Me, unsafe. Psh. I'm great around kids, but what does he know." She would laugh, lifting her drink to her lips, drinking half at a single breath. "I guess you can't win them all, huh?"~ Word Count: 326 ~ |

at most I'm sleeping all these demons away She did not even notice the words tumbling over her lips, thoughts and words were the same jumbled session right now. She just wished she knew what she wanted to do. But one more day, tomorrow, tomorrow she was not a human being, she was a ghoul who ate the sad feelings that she had been hiding for eight years now. Only two months ago she cried for her sister Nanami and for the first time in all those years, she felt that she would cry a lot tomorrow too. On one hand that would be a good thing, finally doing what was normal when your family died in an accident, but it would be eight years too late. It had been so weird, out of the world experience, as if she watched a tv show that she had no idea how to cope and pushed that away until she believed that Nanami loved G and she was stealing him away from her. Which was impossible, Nanami was only five when G disappeared from their lives and she had been annoying, she had never spoken about any boy nor about him when they were older. It had made her cry, in front of him, that might have been the worst. No, definitely yesterday was the worst. Her eyes stared but she did not always see, the tossing, the mixing until she looked at the bright colours turning into a bright violet, but those colours did not add up to the colour mixing, blue and green, she was sure she had seen that. She stared at Lady Macabre for a second, how the... As she leaned with her right elbow on the counter, the words slipped out of her mouth, she remembered them trying the beer tasting, what would he think about bright coloured drinks? The writer must be really upset if words slipped from her mouth, she daydreamed about the idea while staring at the glasses, wondering about it. She did not notice that Macabre stopped talking in the middle of her sentence. She had not even the chance to say she did not care. As long as she could get home by taxi, she didn't care for drinking too much and get drunk. Maybe that was the best solution. Stay up, have a hangover and not remember the 28th of December at all. Again jumped out of her daydreaming when the glass touched her nails and she caught it as an automatic reflex. She looked at her hostess and couldn't help but let out a chuckle. "Unsafe? he told you, you are unsafe?" She laughed about the idea, "Well I am afraid I could learn something, being good with kids is not my strongest point. I at least bought the right presents, I think." She ticked against the golden snake earrings in her ears with her free left hand. At least Miku had a good taste, "I doubt the youngest likes me. The eldest is already a bit more used to me around." She nodded, kids. He wanted kids. Oh god. MADE BY VEL OF GS

She had came from wealth, lost it all and built it right back up. That was her legacy. To fall from grace, to rise from ashes. She was once a smart and rich girl. She once had a family that loved her and her twin sister. She was cared for. But their quirks, they were monsters in their own home. Kasey, broken, never allowed to leave the house. Cherry, loved and kept around. It was Setsuki that first showed himself to their parents. But it was Bubbles that Kasey first saw. She was thrown out and away, like an aged toy. She no longer was important. She was no longer relevant. Discarded. Forced to live on the streets. A child. A young girl, tossed away. But she held no grudges. She forgot them all. Setsuna made them forget. His name. Her name. Cherry. Their parents. Their family. They were alone. It was what they were going to learn to get used to. But they didn't have to. They were taken hostage to experimentation. Twelve other subjects. Twelve people to share her pain. Twelve to rescue. The orphanage took her in, but not for long. She had a family there, even for a moment. But they didn't care, they were both temporary. But that white haired man. That man at the market. His name? G. Just a single letter. For that was all he was willing to risk. "When I'm not here, all I do is work with kids. How am I not safe enough to come to your little party?" she would say with a laugh, "If I wanted to catch Santa, I could do it myself." She would chuckle, while listening to the girl spill her own life, just as easily as Kasey spilled drinks. "Kids are easy. As long as you make sure to remind them you're paying attention to them, and don't smother them, you'll be fine. My brother's daughter loves me. She's this cute little thing. Same with my little sister. They're like plants. Just water them, don't over water, and don't forget to water." She would lift her drink to her lips, downing it. Kasey would reach behind the counter, getting a collection of golden little shot glasses. Ones much more different than the smoked glass ones everyone else had. "Don't tell me you don't do shots." Kasey would say, lining up four for the woman, and four for herself. She was going to wait to see her answer, before getting the booze. ~ Word Count: 418 ~ |

at most I'm sleeping all these demons away She noticed, albeit a bit too late, that she had ignored the answer to her own question. When she asked for the inspiration for the name of Pink Jackal, Macabre had said her sister. Considering there was absolutely one thing that she did not want to think about in the days to come was her own sister. Tomorrow. Tomorrow it would be 8 years ago. Hana clenched her hand, pushing her manicured nails into the palm of her hand and it hurt but she simply gritted her teeth for a second before taking a sip of the violet concoction that Macabre had made. As she said, it had a strong flavour but wildly and interesting. Even if it was rude, she could not turn Macabre back to the conversation as she did not want to. Even if she did not like the conversation about children because it made her remember again and again what G had said in a wild, obnoxious moment when they were not dating. But she had not forgotten and she would not. I want kids of my own. Yes, how amazing that sound and how sure she was he would be okay with that, considering his adopting manners, she was sure she would not be able to handle. How a stern brother Macabre must have, how nice to still have sibling left, Hanako laughed, tried to forget what she just thought and let go of the grip of her nails in her own flesh. It did not help, it did not change anything and she just wanted to have this wonderful conversation. Without saying names, without mentioning much, it felt like Macabre knew who she was talking about. If only she had friends like her. "Catch Santa? You make him sound like a bad guy." She couldn't help but laugh, maybe Santa was or it was a childish gesture, seeing Santa, catching him. After all, he did not really exist. She leaned on her left hand and with an amused smile looked at the girl opposite her. Fascinating as she was. "That is a very great advice." And a great way to explain it, "I hope I did that correctly yesterday." That's what she tried with Miku before she ran away and surprised her with kids. "I think the eldest likes me. We went shopping together, and she ran off to buy me gifts." She played again with the earring, that one and the mood ring, which she still wore, maybe childish, but Miku gave it to her, so she loved it. She went to sit straighter up on the barstool, "Oh I do shots alright." Albeit how long had it been? She was more of a casual drinker now that she had no time for parties like this. She was very curious to what will happen and how soon it will happen considering those four glasses in front of her. MADE BY VEL OF GS

"Isn't he? Breaks into your home, eats your food, watches you sleep? Kinda creepy if you ask me." In a world of quirks, even if Kasey was making foolish childish assumptions, it wouldn't be far off to assume someone would use him as inspiration to be a hero, or a villain. To ride on the name of a already existing character of society? That was an easy way to get famous. Kasey watched the woman, looking over her jewelry. Perhaps it was a gift from her kids. How nice that would be, to have children. After all, that was the reason she started this. To open a club, but to only use less than a fourth as the actual business. A floor dedicated to her cause, another for the guide of her brother. That was her plan. To take in all of the orphans of Japan. She was going to be the mother, while playing the monster. That was the dream. To finally make a family of her own... Kasey slid her hand over the halfway empty bottles. It wasn't so much a pessimistic view, but if they were half full, were they not to be on the way to be complete? Kasey saw the world for what it was, and nothing else. You were either good, or bad. Some good people did bad things, and some bad people did good things. There was no middle. You were good, or bad. Some people bad for good reasons, some becoming good for bad reasons. Fame. Greed. They both went hand in hand. Kasey smiled at the thought of her wonderful and confusing world. Taking the bottle, she poured it over all of the small little glasses. "Soju. Came from Korea. Had a hero stop by, recommended we carry it." She would say, filling all of them, setting the bottle back down. It was only their tester, but still, Kasey had ordered an entire pallet. It was cheap, at least that's what she thought. She lifted a small hot glass, rose it to toast the woman before downing it herself. "Man, almost makes me wonder what kind of mom my sister would have made." Would have. As if she couldn't. Cherry wasn't dead. She couldn't be. She wasn't allowed to be. If she was dead, Kasey was alone in this world. Her only relative a stranger. A man from the supermarket who taught her memes, how to count, and let her live there. A man, who didn't even want her at his party. A man, who didn't allow Kasey to meet his new daughter. "Why do you pain, Rena?"
"You're all I have now Setsuki. Don't ever go."
"Never. Not even if I could."~ Word Count: 452 ~ |

at most I'm sleeping all these demons away Hanako couldn't help but remain giggly because of what she said, "Well if you voice it like that. I can imagine how you came to that conclusion. But don't ruin Santa for kids, I don't know how old your cousins are but the little ones believe I suppose." She shook her head, it was a funny idea, considering what they were all thinking about it and it was a very interesting perspective, she could use something like that for all the time perspective. It was probably not really normal to consider them friends, she did not even know her real name, Macabre must be her alias, her work title here. Which could be very smart to use. Lady Scandal, it was a title, it was a hidden feature. It was a lot of things, but it was no longer Hanako. Maybe she wasn't so bad, maybe she could get some tickets to the electronic exhibition and take Haruuhi along. Would the girl be okay with only Hanako or would she have to beg to take security with her and let that be G? There were thoughts she could consider later because, at this point, she wanted to enjoy the not worrying. The perspective of nothing to worry about and just sitting here and enjoying Macabre her company. She looked interested at the bottle that she was holding, "Korea, interesting." She never had anything like that. Surely Japan kept importing things from abroad, fast food from America, fashion from Italy and so on. Alcohol from Korea, why not. She followed Macabre by lifting up the first glass of the shots and clinging it against hers and downing it as well. Almost having a moment of trouble swallowing it as she heard what the girl opposite her said. "Sorry?" Did she lose her sister? This was why she had avoided the topic. She never wondered what kind of mom Nanami would have been. But it surely would have been an interesting one. "I-I.." She looked away, no it was no time to think about it. She did not want to have a moment like yesterday. One more day. Tomorrow. It would be eight years ago that Nanami died. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Ruin Santa for kids? It was Santa that ruined it for himself. That stupid jolly fat man who went home to home. That was for another time. The time had passed. That man did not come on Christmas day, he came on the eve. She was a fool for being mistaken. Kasey never had cousins. To have cousins, was to have parents, and to have parents that had siblings. her bloodline was small, if it was anyone else. For now, it was only herself, Setsuna, Bubbles and Cherry. That was, if they were still around, and if Setsuna could actually birth anything. Kasey had only her brother, but as time passed, it seemed they grew more and more distant. It was as if the reason she had started this place for him, was no longer existent. At the topic, Kasey could sense how uneasy the girl was. Setting the shot glass back on the table, she lifted a second one to lips, swallowing it just as easy. It was smooth, as it should have been. Distilled rice liquor. It really was no different than the Japanese Sake. "Sorry," she would say to her, "Touchy subject. Anyways," she tried to change the topic to something much more light. "That guy you're seeing, he a nice guy? What's his name again?" she asked, a leading question. She did say his name, right? ~ Word Count: 230 ~ |

at most I'm sleeping all these demons away It was actually a very funny conversation to get things of her mind, but it did not make things easier. It made things distracted and she did not talk about it but it was a funny idea. It was a welcome idea that she did not want to talk about or want to think about anything else. Santa, stealing the cookies, that was a theft but he brought the presents. She had read, years ago, that there was a dark Santa Clause in Europe. That was a big alternative version of the original story and that was a story, but not worthy, so she would not write it, maybe she would read it again. Just tomorrow, to have something to do. She felt too much distracted and tried to not focus too much on the conversations but it was a pleasant thing. She put the glass back on the bar too, she had not known she held it so strongly, the good thing was that glass didn't break so easily. "I am sorry too. It is no need for such subjects indeed. Let's have fun." She smiled and took the second shot herself. She placed the glass back on the counter right now. "Oh," It took her a few seconds to consider his new name. "Yes, Yes he is a nice guy. I think he..." She swallowed, "He really cares about me." It's not just all about the bedroom performance or everything coming to how she looked like the perfect woman. Hence the wasp-like waist. "Gabe, his name is Gabe. I call him G for short, very strange I know." She had to cover herself because she was sure she had just slipped that. She was not used to calling him Gabe, she called him Gil. Shorting his real name but she had to be careful with that. MADE BY VEL OF GS

The glass set back onto the bar, the rim pressed against the wood. Kasey's hand reached out, taking in another small cup to lift it to her lips. Kasey set the glass back onto the counter in the same manner. Her mind starting to drift, exploring the simple moments of life as she continued to speak with the woman. She wasn't the owner of the club anymore, she was just someone to talk to. Someone who happened to be at the right place, at the right time. "G? Huh." Kasey gave off a small and short laugh, only to have to have it followed by her next question. "I don't suppose he also has white hair like me." She smiled, lifting another glass to her lips, finishing all that she had. Rather than wait for the girl, Kasey was on her own schedule. "Next I'll suppose he wears funny golden sunglasses with a single broken lens. But that would be quite a coincidence." Kasey would laugh again, "Oh, how did your report go? Did the pictures help you at all?" She wondered, thinking of the real reason for the girl to stop by the first time. After all, things were starting to get interesting. ~ Word Count: 204 ~ |

at most I'm sleeping all these demons away She did not know how fast she would drink, this would be the second shot and she believed she had still not paid attention to what she was chucking down her throat as she had not paid attention to the flavour or anything. Well, at least that meant it did not taste disgusting yet, so that was good. She followed Macabre her example and took the third and chucked it back before placing the shot glass back in the line of four that Macabre had put in front of her. She should have known when she explained about her boyfriend that she had made a dangerous mistake. Enemies of his, friends of his, everything seemed to be so vague and far away.
