You sure you can keep up with a woman like me~?
❝ “Hmmmm…” By no means an idiot or some form of simpleton but what had happened there seeming to fly right over the head of the young heroine, once the show had come to an end and her plucky pupil had flung herself into the fray Maya found herself humming along to herself as a response to what she had seen, and most certainly not because she was impressed by it. “You know, that guy…” The showman on the screen really seeming to have rubbed her up the wrong way, there was something about that smug condescension that just pissed her off and made it hard for her to stand still or stay quiet, and she doubted that she was the only one in the room who felt that way. “He has a real ‘someone needs to punch my teeth out’ kind vibe, doesn’t he?” Shrugging as she took a step forward and moved into the centre of the tent, while it hadn’t been entirely her idea to steal the thunder of the officer in charge when she got here, after that little show that had been put on for their benefit the black beauty shook her head and grumbled rather loudly, with the intent of catching the ear and eye of anyone who wanted to listen to her, because what she wanted to say felt important. Simple, but important. “So howsabout we go up there and kick his ass, huh?” Sighing and shrugging her shoulders with a little more animation as she called the crook like she saw ‘em, while Miss Murasaki was acting a little less classy than she otherwise might have shown herself to be in her mind she was saying something that needed to be said, and was probably the same notion that a dozen or more people around her also wanted to spit out. “I came here looking for a fight, and don’t really feel like letting these creeps go until I’ve found one…” Perhaps a hint of the leadership potential that had been polished through the captaincy of various sports teams in her youth shining through in that moment, she read the tension of the room rather readily and knew that someone needed to break it, and as such was happy to do so. “So who’s with me, huh? Who’s gonna team up with this rookie sensation and show the world that the bad guys have won enough today…?” Immediately seeming to sense that after such a shit show that had gone down that everyone around her would be rather readily cast into despair and because of that aiming a little cockiness and confidence as a challenge to that, there had been a million times on the soccer field or the volleyball court where she had been up against it, and that had taught Maya that you only needed two things to come back from behind; a halfway decent plan, and the guts to see it through. And right now she had one of those things, and with a little luck and time, she would have the other as well…

In the end, no matter how tense the situation, her marvellous mentor yet had her ways of drawing attention to herself, and more importantly, drawing a cheeky little chuckle out her pupil's lips:
"Tell me about it fuuck...", she groaned, rubbing her shaggy blonde hair, looking to Maya out the corner of her eye, admiring her at every turn as she cooly took charge of the situation... No matter how well she did, Kanna could hardly picture herself looking anywhere but her back, "...I'd be surprised if that fucker still has all his teeth under that mask." All of a sudden, the disheartened cops were back to high spirits, some even cheering her words as a couple "Yeah"'s and "Damn right"'s echoed through the tent. Kanna's tricks had kept their hopes from crumbling, but it took Maya's ferocity to rally them back into this fight, until even she couldn't help but get fired back up at her words alone. She had to admit... No matter how long she spent with her, she'd probably never get over how impressive she found her, all but feeling her cheeks heating up ever so softly at the mere sight of her and how she took charge of an entire team of police without any real effort: "...Guess the only question now is who's gonna punch his remaining teeth out, huh?", noted the cheeky blonde, at long last walking up to her mentor, looking between the cops and the blonde with an almost bratty smirk on her face, "I'm defenitely calling dibs but... Don't worry... I'll save some for ya~"
Well she didn't actually expect to get any laughs from the cops... Judging from the way she looked at the older woman, shooting her a cheeky wink in that odd few moment, she didn't really expect anybody but her to appreciate that hidden competitive hint between the two, granted, something only Maya herself would have picked up on. But it seemed as though the police force had well and truly warmed up to both of them, including the officer in charge:
"Very well, Ultraviolet. Villains are your jurisdiction, so...", even the man in charge wasn't entirely immune to her charm, standing up from his seat and walking up to her, "...The Metro Police's resources are at your disposal. We'll keep those hostages safe, give you as much room as possible to deal with the villains."

You sure you can keep up with a woman like me~?
❝ “Hey now, he’s an ex-prison boy, so I’m sure he has a pretty enough mouth for some people~?” Enjoying the chance to share a little banter with the people around her, as Kanna joined in the discussion about their swaggering adversary’s dental state Miss Murasaki grinned, and tossed a line out to raise a few chuckles with the green eyed girl and their new friends in the enforcement of law, before returning to business, so to speak. “Ohhhh~? Well, the victor gets the spoils, of course~” Amused to see the enthusiasm of her emerald eyed ally and smirking as her prized protégé seemed keen to get her hands on the head honcho, even though there was probably the most glory to be had in taking down this ringleader on this occasion the dark dish didn’t mind letting her blonde buddy have a crack at the big prize, simply because she guessed that the opportunity would bring out the best in her. “So if you beat me to ‘em, he’s all yours?” Naturally still a little protective but also not the sort who would be so clingy that she would suffocate her star student, Maya nodded and offered a little approval for the eagerness that the enchantress showed, and also added a lick of competition to the situation as well which never seemed to go amiss when one considered their combination. “Wow, well, I’ll make the most of it then?” The pugnacious pro somewhat surprised when the officer in charge seemed to cede to her own authority but certainly not off put by it, as the sensible Saito drew the attention of the room toward the Asian amazon she took a breath and narrowed her violet tinted vision while lifting her fingers to her chin, and began to turn the situation over in her head as she did so. “But as much as I wanna go in there guns blazing, taking names and kicking ass, this seems like the sort of situation we need to go in smart?” Knowing all too readily that things would get really rather messy if they went about this half-cocked, the facts of the failed first strike were impossible to overlook in this situation, and if the sable siren wanted to make their second attempt better she knew she had to think outside the box. “Somehow these punks got the better of a police strike team inside there, so we can’t let ourselves play their game?” As such open to suggestions as she looked over the room and moved to a table in the middle that was replete with schematics for the tower, Miss Murasaki hummed to herself softly and traced a few lines of the fantastic structure that had been a beacon in Tokyo for over a century, all while trying to see if she could spy some kind of opening that might have been overlooked by her enemies. “We have to come up with our own…?” Nodding to herself as she did so as well, after a second or two the black beauty spoke with a certain wistfulness before lifting her gaze up and looking toward Kanna, hinting that she wanted to know what her perky partner thought of their situation, and how to get the better of it…

"Ooooh, you're on teach... Don't come cryin if all you get is my sloppy seconds~", snickered the blonde, her confident smirk widening into a little grin, silently knowing all too well than many other heros might feel hard pressed to keep her on a leash...
In the end, she could only appreciate Maya all the more as she saw the woman not only refraining from it, but encouraging her in turn, that telltale tingling promptly returning as she clenched her fists... Despite the severity of the situation, Kanna couldn't quite shove aside her competitive sense in the face of somebody who excited her so, and even as Saito began his exchange with her, the blonde yet found her gaze lingering on her mentor's marvellous form, no doubt hoping to look between the two as she rested a hand on her hip, but in the end found herself looking mostly at Maya, only speaking up when they began looking over the plan:
"Well, that's to be expected... They know everything we're doing and then some. Whatever signal you guys use to communicate, he probably hijacked it and made it his bitch. And if he did that to your cams, you can easily assume he did that to the building's security system long before you got there. The place is a fucking fortress now.", shrugged Kanna, not too surprised by that notion now that she knew for sure they had a hacker type like herself on their side, walking up to Maya and joining her at the side of the table, pointing to the nearest blueprint, her fingers drawing over the whole height of the building.
For once, she was actually able to resist the urge to let her gaze wash over her marvellous mentor's round, luscious rump as she leaned ever so slightly over the table... Up to her a point at least... To her credit, Kanna still didn't let it distract her as she walked up to the table in turn, beside Maya's right side her gaze looking up to the officers present:
"Compared to them, the first team was blind, deaf and mute, and you guys worse than that: You could only see what he wanted you to see. If we're hoping to one up them with a second team, we gotta fix that. And to do that, we need my quirk..." Despite some visible hints of annoyance at her... Less than polite choice of words, even those more prideful few found themselves nodding begrudgingly, rubbing heads and stroking beards for those with a beard to stroke. Kanna narrowed her eyes, gears turning as she slowly drew not one but myriads of potential plans in her head, brow raising as she shifted those jade green hues rigth back to Maya, wondering what her mentor might have to say about the information she gave her... In the end, for all her pride, Kanna knew her authority ended there. None of these cops were following her, but Maya, so whatever plan they chose in the end would need to come from her lips to actually hold any weight in this tent.

You sure you can keep up with a woman like me~?
❝ Her confidence is really growing, isn’t it? Once again allowing her cheeky pupil to have the last little line, while Miss Murasaki didn’t respond to the crudeness that Kanna threw her way verbally the smirk and lingering stare she offered seemed to say plenty about how amused she was by the way the blonde was blossoming before her, and clearly becoming far more at ease in her company. Always such a smart mouthed girl but there something different about the way she had started to talk to the black beauty recently that seemed to stand out, it was like she had begun to relax and perhaps reflect a little of the rowdy raven’s own attitude back toward, which was nice to see in so many ways. “Hmmmmm, the security cameras, you say?” Nodding as she seized a little of the control of this gathering to the green eyed gal, once again her star student showed her shrewdness when it came to technology as she seemed to quickly size up the situation, and come up with a rather obvious solution to the question of how the strike team had been overwhelmed so suddenly and handily. “That makes a lot of sense, given what we know about these guys?” Once again impressed by the girl, even though the situation and her focus on the problem meant that she wouldn’t get the usual flirty line and firm hand to her derriere once more the fair haired femme was showing her teacher she was more than deserving of the ‘A’ that she desired, whatever that might have been. “If they can jack the body cams, who else knows what else they can see through? What they can hear through?” All too well understanding the value in choosing the right tactics for the right situation, while Maya was plenty strong in her own right she was more than used to dealing with and overcoming distinct disadvantages through the use of strategy and stealth, and now that her perky protégé had pointed out the problem that their forbearers had faced could readily understand her reasoning. “The art of war teaches us to rely not on the likelihood of the enemy's not coming, but on our own readiness to receive him…” Perhaps inspired a little by the battle poetry that the blonde had shared earlier in order to share a little wisdom that she herself knew, the dark dish flashed a grin as she showed that she too was more than a pretty face when she wanted to be, and then licked her lips as she ran her fingers over the schematic and began to think of a battle plan now that she knew a little more of what they were up against. “So it’s nice to know you have an idea of how to level the playing field, cause…” Grinning as Kanna seemed to suggest herself for the mission but by this point the girl having done such a thorough job of impressing her mentor that leaving her behind was not an option, while Miss Murasaki approved of the idea that they might be able to fight fire with fire so to speak in this contest by using her, this was not the only idea she had. “I think I have one too?” Another even more reckless idea seeming to form in the mind of the rowdy raven that could potentially double their odds of success if they could pull off both plans together, she could see a ‘window’ to success that most others would not have considered, but it was probably a pretty understandable shortcoming really. They weren’t used to having a woman like her on their side, after all…

"Yeah, that... All about sums it up huh?", for a moment there, Kanna's eyes widened at the sound of those words she knew all too well, actually feeling her heart beating a bit faster in her chest as Maya explained their strategy with a quote straight from the art of war...
Some girls like having poetry read to them... Kanna, on the other hand, liked having the Art of War recited to her... Who's to judge right? She had to admit, hearing her mentor using those time tested notions to drive her strategic plannic only helped her push Maya onto an even higher pedestal than the one where she already stood, if such a thing were even possible:
"We still dunno what they can actually do to catch us off guard, and we know that they can at least cut off comms with the outside: I got no clue how that guy's Quirk actually does the shit does, which means, if it hits the fan, I gotta be close enough to do something about it. They ain't gonna shut down comms inside their own building... And if they do, we win." Granted, she didn't need to explain her train of thought so clearly for Maya caught up with it quickly enough, until the blonde could only smile, rubbing behind her head as that look of pride of her face had her blushing faster than any words of praise, glancing away from her amazon of a teacher, only looking back to her out the corner of her eye, brow raised when Maya mentioned having her plan: "Oooh...? Whatcha thinking about now?", inquired Kanna, crossing her arms as her lips widened into a smirk... She knew her mentor well enough by now to understand that whatever plan that sprouted from that daring mind of hers would be dipped undeniable unbelievable badassery... And she couldn't wait to hear it~, "Don't tell me ya gonna airdrop in from a chopper or some shit~?"

You sure you can keep up with a woman like me~?
❝ I’m starting to think… I should have gone for the Helicopter? The wind whipping about Maya Murasaki as she clung to a surface that no one in their right mind would probably have ever chosen to be hanging off, as the black beauty took a deep breath and looked at the distance that separated her from her goal and then the one that stood between her and the ground, she was most assuredly rather glad that she did not suffer from acrophobia. As great as this workout is for me, it doesn’t have the same sense of style, does it? Everything that she had once been standing next to like tens and cop cars now small enough thanks to the tricks offered by perspective that she could pick them up like pieces on a chessboard, even though she was usually rather fearless the femme couldn’t help but feel a little bit intimidated by that fact alone, and idly wonder to herself if she should start questioning the choices she had made in her life. Imagine… Throwing myself out of it without a parachute, and landing smack dab in the middle of those fools like one of those guys from the old superhero movies? Perhaps the decision to scale the side of the Tokyo tower blessed with the boon of surprise given how insane it was but certainly no easy task even when one stood beyond the pinnacle of conventional human perfection, as she climbed in altitude Maya found that the gusts around her became increasingly gale-like and threatened the tenuous grip she had on the structure she climbed, and couldn’t help but find her mind flicking between imagination and a memory that she found unexpectedly prominent in her recollection. I wonder what she’d think to that, huh? Suddenly and intensively seeming to recall the image of her plucky protégé stubbornly clinging to a tree she had decided to clamber up not long after their first encounter, the ebony enchantress didn’t know exactly why it felt like she had to do things that might impress her student, but still seemed to be compelled by them all the same. It seemed like idolization was something of a drug, didn’t it? Speaking of, I wonder how they’re getting on? The memory of the blonde seeming to hang in the young heroes mind and as she plucked her body upward and pushed herself onto another sweet section of relatively horizontal sub straight that bond she shared with her making the Asian amazon more anxious for the fate of her fellow femme than herself, in spite of the noticeable challenge she faced in scaling this skyscraper-sized structure like the world’s smallest majesty of apes she couldn’t help but think of the success of her student, and as such lifted her hand to her ear almost the very second she was stable on the beam she had climbed upon and activated the bud within it to check on the girl. “This is Black Hawk… Come in Cuddle Monkey?” At the very least finding her newfound leadership of the operation a boon if only for the fact that she had been afforded the authority to decide on the code names they might be using over their comms, Miss Murasaki smirked as she clung to the beam with one hand and turned to see the world behind her while she waited on the word of the young woman she had partnered with, quietly marvelling at the rooftops she could see from her perch and even more so the fact she had managed to climb this high under her own strength entirely. Even without a sweet helicopter landing, she was total a badass, wasn’t she?

That crazy fucking bitch... Even now Kanna couldn't help but grin at the wild, outrageous idea her mentor had come up with, still shooting curious glances skywards as if she could have possibly seen her up there, despite the tarp of the tent hanging over her tent. She was joking about the helicopter... Even that could have been a preposterous idea, but at least it was well, feasible. Actually pulling off such an over the top climb - taken straight out of an old school action movie - was just absolutely bonkers, even for Kanna, who despite the utter bewilderment at the ballsiness of the move, couldn't help but betray a hint of worry... Even for Maya, a fall from that height would kill her... No questions asks. Kanna gulped as she slipped on her bulletproof vest, shaking her head clear of that thought. Granted, that was far from the only thing Maya did teh blonde would rather not think about:
"I can't believe you fuckin chose that nickname...", grumbled Kanna, still tying her shoelaces as she geared up alongside the members of the strike team. Begrudgingly, she finally picked up reached for her earpiece with a vivid shade of red on her face, scowling at the cheeky officers who could actually overhear her, "This is Cuddle Monkey... How's the weather up there Black Hawk~?" Everything was ready on their end... Now, they needed only to wait for the designated time, and Kanna made the most of it to prepare everything for the battle to come. Every transmitter, every communicator... Every ammo clip... It wasn't easy getting the cops to give her a gun, but to her credit, Kanna could actually use it: A little memento from her Semper Fi adventure a few years back. Still, she sure as fuck wouldn't get used to seeing this when she glanced down. Clad in full black strike team uniform, bulletproof vest and a ballistic helmet, Kanna looked no different from any of the hardened urban fighters all around her. Perhaps a little cleaner than they did, having only just put it on, something she was thankful for... If she wound up stuck with a sweaty old uniform worn by a big beefy dude, she'd probably struggle focusing on the task at hand. Armed with an assault rifle and handgun, at first glance she looked just like any other member of her team, infiltrated in the ranks of Beta team to complete her mission.
"Route all your comms through me. I'll be your enigma machine. Now if the enemy finds us communicating, his first move will be to try and hijack them. We'll be using a secure, dynamic encryption protocol, and by the time they crack it, we'll have long moved on to the next." ...That premise had argued her inclusion in the strike team, and the blonde had held it close to her heart and mind every step of the the way. The strategy she and her mentor had cooked up together... The blonde couldn't help but gulp, despite the typically tremendous confidence in her ability, for some reason she yet felt her hands trembling, heart racing at the thought of what she was about to do. Maybe she was anxious about her first proper battle...? No, she faced tons of battles before this right...? Was she just worried about Maya? N-No way, that lunatic can totally handle herself right? Why would she be worried? Did she hope everything would go swimmingly so Maya would be impressed? ...N-Now that's just silly: "...Everything's just about ready on our end.", she spoke at last, shaking her head free of those intruding thoughts, taking a long, deep, focused breath as her eyes narrowed.

You sure you can keep up with a woman like me~?
❝ “You know, it’s a bit chilly~?” More relieved to hear the voice at the other end of the radio than she let on verbally, a small smile spread across the lips of Maya Murasaki as she heard Kanna speak back to her which carried far more sincerity than she would probably ever show in person, and no shortage of satisfaction either as she was provided with the chance to chat with her prized pupil as she continued her path upwards. “You’re missing out really… My shirt is like a pair of tepees right now~?” A few deep breaths preceding a jump upwards that was followed quickly thereafter by the grabbing of a metal beam that stretched out above her, the dark dish masked the grunts and groans she might have otherwise given because of her exertion via the conversation she shared with her star student, and smirked as she offered her a juicy little line that would hopefully give both of them something other than the danger that waited for at least a few seconds yet. “Hehehehe, I’m not quite in position yet, still got a bit of this ‘tree’ ahead of me~?” Shaking her head and chuckling as her perky protégé reported the fact that she had reached the target she looked for, the competitive spirit within Maya was quietly disappointed to discover that she had been beaten in the ‘race’ to the starting point in this mission, and by quite a lot it seemed, though to be honest with the distance that she had to cover it was probably rather obvious her cute Kouhai might be at a distinct advantage. “How were the stairs, by the way? You don’t sound all that out of breath, I take it my training is paying off, huh?” That without considering the other pro that her pupil possessed in the form of the terrain, while the black beauty had been scaling the side of a building her juicy junior had the comparatively easy route of steps to reach her destination, and yet despite this obvious handicap a small part of her had still wanted to win, though she did not languish in defeat either. “Say, did I ever tell you…” The moments of quietness and reflection seeming like they would be ample opportunity for the two to take advantage of this pre-storm calm to have a little radio-enabled heart to heart, Miss Murasaki threw herself upward and found the ‘company’ that her comms provided her with seeming to quell much of the anxiety she felt, and because of that opted to share an old war story with the young woman waiting within for her in order to stave off the tension. “I was about your age when I did my first gig like this~?” Unsure exactly of how much Kanna might know about her given the fact that the green eyed girl was such a dab hand with her quirk empowered research, the tower-traversing teacher couldn’t help but wanna test the homework of the girl as she found her mind falling back to another situation where a bunch of thugs had caused her problems, and she had fought like hell to aid another special someone in her life as a result…

She all but sighed at the woman's reassurance, no doubt realizing she cared about her a lot more than she let on. N-Not that she'd tell her about any of that, no way she'd ever hear the end of it. Maya's words, however, were a whole other matter... All too easily, Kanna felt her cheeks heating up once more, her teeth digging into her plush bottom lip at the tantalizing picture so clearly painted for her... But on the phone was a whole other matter... Maya couldn't quite see the reaction she gave, nor could the cops hear them on this direct line, which ultimately left Kanna confident enough to smirk and toss her a cheeky response:
"Well that sounds like a lovely view. Take pictures while you're up there will ya~?", she teased, snickering softly, letting those words sink in before nodding and responding with a reassuring tone,, despite the little huff in her voice, "No rush. Every second we get is another precious bit of preparation we could really use." Kanna was doing what she could to take the pressure off her mentor, let her focus on the grueling climb to the top. Against that, the route she'd taken with the rest of the strike team seemed comparatively peaceful... Kanna looked at the clock... High pressure, sure, but at the rate Maya was climbing they had more than enough time to get those hostages to safety. Kanna took a long, deep breath, reminding herself that her plan, their plan... It was rock solid: The only way they could fail was by getting distracted and forgetting all about it under pressure: "Almost as easy as taking the long way up like you~ Who knows, maybe next time we're in the neighborhood we'll switch things up?", even as she spoke, Kanna swiped away at the smartphone, going through the blueprints, schematics, every piece of information they could get at. She couldn't go around actively messing with the security system without the tipping off their foe, no... That part would have to wait, but that didn't stop her from gleaming every bit of information she could without actually needing to scratch the surface... Even with the heart pounding antecipation at the main event to come: "Oooof~ One hell of a time to be telling me that story, ain't it...?", chuckled Kanna, ruffling her hair with an incredulous, if amused hint on her face, not yet acknowledging just how much hearing Maya's voice soothed her worries, a constant reminder that her marvellous mentor was okay despite the monumental task at hand. That thought alone all but quelled the anxiety she felt, the feeling Kanna constantly reminded herself she had no right to feel for she wasn't the one standing out there climbing the Tokyo tower, "I gotta say though... It does sound like a story i'd wanna hear~" Even now she couldn't deny that lingering hint of excitement at the thought of the adventurous amazon's awe inspiring accomplishments, and it brought her no small measure of amusement to think of herself up to her heroics, despite being as young as Kanna was now. The blonde hacker might be a hardened delinquent but... She was only just starting to learn the pressure of a high stakes setting like this, with actual innocent lives on the line.

You sure you can keep up with a woman like me~?
❝ “Oh, and what kinda view are you thinking of there, bad girl~?” Smirking and licking her lips at the sinful suggestion of her star student and not for a second doubting the answer to the question she asked as a result, even though she knew that her situation was rather precarious currently and she had little time to waste the temptation to take the teen up on her offer was impossible to ignore, and as such once she had reached another flat little section she plucked her phone from her pocket and took a little snap with it, though didn’t send it just yet. “Well I suppose I can grab one or two, just for you, eh?” Really grabbing quite the marvellous shot as it had her in it with her cheeks a bit red and the sleek shine of sweat on her brow as well while the lights of Tokyo hung in the background behind her, Maya smiled to herself as she took a look at the pic but chose to hang onto it for the time being, though if the green eyed girl had a sharp enough ear she might just have heard the simulated shutter sound her selfie had created when grabbing her image to confirm the fact she hadn’t been joking. “Hahahaha, sure… Then how about a little race next time, hm~?” Grinning as she pushed the device back into her pocket before she continued to throw herself higher and higher with every upward lunge, given how cute Kanna had looked when climbing the tree on the day they met she couldn’t help but find a sense of amusement in the two of them doing something like this together, and the dark dish also had a nice little angle to put on such a situation as well. “Winner gets one wish from the loser, or something~?” Biting her lip a little bit as she added a little wager clause to the proposition she offered to her prized protégé and immediately imagining what such a suggestion might inspire in the mind of her juicy junior as she did so, Miss Murasaki wondered whether the simple common sense of such a situation would override the prideful approach of her protégé, but honestly given how long she knew her she doubted it. That eager emerald eyed lass loved a challenge almost as much as she did, after all. “Well, you gotta think about the hurdles you overcome as you mount new ones, right~?” Tilting her head as her star student questioned the timing of her impulse to share a story and Maya playing that question off coolly, while there was certainly some truth in what she said about her effort making her that bit misty eyed about her memories, she chose not to reveal the fact that her fondness for the fox she talked to was also making her seem like a surrogate sibling to her, or perhaps even something more than that. “So yeah, I was with my sister at this unveiling of a new mini-mall in Tokyo cause she had a modelling gig there… Have I told you about her yet~?” Sighing as she began to weave her tale as she fought her way upward, each and every time that the black beauty found a moment to rest she piped up with the details of her very first ‘job’ as a vigilante, though at the time she did not know to call it that. “And these guys burst in with guns and stuff, wanting to make a big noise about quirks… They were against them, I think~? Lucky for me I’d hit the bathroom when they showed up, and was adept at the old air vent action as well?” Instead just a young woman who was more scared than she might ever admit, though more so for the soul she shared her experience with than herself, even with what was becoming closer and closer to a decade’s worth of days since that date she could remember everything so vividly, though that was probably rather understandable given the impact that it had upon her. It had been a moment in her life that had been like few others, and impossible not to define herself by because of that. “So yeah, I could have gotten out but they had my Sis, so there was no way I was running away from that, right~?” That day more than any other seeming like the one that had set her upon the path she now found herself travelling, while there was certainly a case to be made that issues with a paternal parent most assuredly had a weighty contribution to the woman she became and probably also affected her in that moment as well, it was the experience she mentioned now where she first felt like the figure she had become. “So there I was, a skinny teen with a black belt or two, up against would-be terrorists, in a minimall…” For all the understatement that she offered as she casually spun her yarn that the moment that she realized just how powerful she could be, while the event probably paled in scale and potential threat to the endeavour she undertook now it showed Miss Murasaki who she really was, and for that she would likely be eternally grateful. “And it was… Well honestly, it was amazing? Like it was scary and my heart was pounding and I spent the whole time feeling like I was going to throw up but…” Not only proving to the pugnacious pro the prowess she possessed and how she might use it best but also teaching her more than any sports or sparring match that she had been through that the thing she craved most in her life was the drug known as thrill, it wasn’t just the sense of achievement or the challenge that she had learned to love that day, but also the danger that she faced. “It was such a rush, and afterwards I couldn’t stop thinking about it? It was the most exciting thing I’d ever been through and I wanted more… A lot more? So I suppose, it’s down to those idiots that I am who I am today, in a weird way?” Never having felt so alive like that before in her life, though there had been larger successes, greater adversities and bigger rushes afterward, none had felt quite as special as that day had in her mind. Not yet at least. She was still young after all, and she was still trying her hand in competition, in so many wonderful ways…

The blonde chuckled, clearly seeing through Maya's bluff. No way she'd actually distract herself from her climb just to take a little picture now, would she? The knowledge of Maya's ill precieved predictablity brought her no end of confidence, or at least, it would have, up until the moment when that sound reached her ears:
"Y-You didn't...", and yet that shutter sound all but made her shudder, nibbling her bottom lip as she knew all too well what it meant. Had she actually shot a selfie while climbing up the Tokyo tower? In the end though, Kanna couldn't help but chuckle as she added, blushing ever so softly, "...You're fucking crazy, did I ever tell you that~...?"
For a moment there, Kanna might actually have worried, but she knew better than that... Not that Maya would have given her much of a chance for that, constantly talking to her at every step of the way, as if knowing even the seemingly distant blonde couldn't help but think of her every step of the way, and how absolutely bonkers this idea was in the first place:
"Oooof... Now that's a bet I can get behind.", confident as ever despite the daunting odds in front of her, by now Kanna had made it all too clear that she was more than willing to give her mentor a run for her money, never giving up until she'd actually lost. Who knows, maybe the day would soon come where she could actually beat her tantalizing teacher without needing the woman to underestimate her, "I'd be worried about what the hell you'd ask me to do buuuut... Guess I just gotta win and I won't need to find out~" Ultimately, nothing quite relaxed as much as hearing Maya's story. Despite her initial objection, Maya told her anyway and Kanna certainly didn't object, letting out the occasional little hum and chuckle, actually quite enraptured by the image of a teenage Maya going out shopping with her sister just like average girl: "Nope, I'd sure as hell remember it if you would~", maybe at some point she might have chided herself for not knowing everything in advance, Kanna had actually grown accustomed to Maya's ability to surprise her, and liked her enough to actually enjoy those surprises when they popped up. Now learning that she had a sister who was a model, her brow rose almost immediately and her smile widened... As if her secretive sensei could actually seize any more of her attention than she already had. What she didn't expect was for that casual story to quickly turn into a hostage situation, "Hot damn, you sure as hell started big huh? Most just start off getting stray cats down from trees~ Still, sounds to me like those chumps had no idea who they were fuckin with." It made her think... Why did she even want to be a hero...? When she first applied for UA, Kanna wanted nothing more than a place where she could hone her quirk in peace. And yet she knew the faculty must have seen something in her other than delinquent, even considering her otherwise excellent grades. Far from an ordinary school, UA aimed to foster new pros, so they wouldn't have chosen just any other quirker...
"Gotta say though, that ain't the kind of reason to be a hero you'd expect to hear from a pro~", chuckled the blonde, leaning against a wall, foot resting against it as she glanced upwards, as if she could see the stars above, or even her mesmerizing mentor as she clawed her way atop the tower boldly enough to put action movie tough guys to shame, "You always expect to hear something like the good ol 'I can't sit by watching people get hurt'..." Even then Kanna couldn't help but roll her eyes, raising her idle hand into the air and doing air quotes, leaving a couple curious cops looking at her, all but wondering just what on earth was the girl discussing with her mentor: "Y'know... That's something I've never really given much thought about... The whole 'why ya wanna be a hero' and all that jazz.", she confessed, letting out a soft sigh, almost embarassed to admit it but comfortable enough with Maya that she could do so, without really ever giving it much thought either.

You sure you can keep up with a woman like me~?
❝ “Well, you’re Miss Technical Whizz Kid, her name is Mina and she’s a model so I’m sure you can find out all about her when you have five minutes…” Smirking at the interest that her student seemed to show in her sibling, despite the difference in their occupation Miss Murasaki had always been proud of her familial fellow femme she had grown up with and even a little envious of her at times, this one included, though tried not to let that cloud her judgement really. After all, while she sensed a strong chemistry between herself and the blonde beneath her that didn’t mean she felt she should have any claim over the girl despite the daintiest desire to do so, which seemed to only push her in the opposite direction than anything. “And if you’re a good girl, maybe I’ll introduce the two of you one day~?” All the more so amused by the prospect of seeing how the two might interact with each other given how the emerald eyed enchantress was in many ways like a ‘junior’ version of herself, even though she didn’t mention it the tigress on the tower was also curious to see how her prized protégé might think the two of them compared, and that probably reflected the hint of friendly competitiveness she felt with her sister. They were so similar in some ways and yet so different in others, tomboy and girly girl, and these factors couldn’t help but fuel a little bit rivalry between them, but ultimately there was always far more love than contention between the pair. “Well, you should know with my climbing skills that was kid’s stuff for me, no~?” Grinning as she threw herself upward and spied the lofty level that she aimed for getting closer and closer, bigger and bigger, with each jump that she took, Maya licked her lips as she found her audacity being praised by the green eyed girl and flicked her hair for the benefit of nothing more than her own compulsions as she delivered a cool response on the matter, which seemed rather fitting indeed given her current ambitions. “Heheheheh, you think so~?” Chuckling a moment later when she found her frankness about her intentions as a heroine seeming to meet with a surprised sense of approval from her star student, though the ebony enchantress was hardly the sort that placed much weight in the opinions of most other people she was used to anticipating disappointment from people in regard to her naked desire for thrills, and as such questioned the attitude of her cute kouhai playfully because of this. “I mean I’m not crazy about people getting hurt either, if they don’t deserve it? But I know myself well enough to know that isn’t all there is to it?” Most assuredly understanding that people could be moved by empathy and a sense of nobility but perhaps a more jaded part of Miss Murasaki feeling like very few folk were ever motivated solely by these factors, she decided that she was simply the sort of girl who chose to be more honest and understanding with her interests than most folk, and found had peace with the facts because of this thinking. “What about you~? I bet you’re not doing this stuff for entirely ‘conventional’ reasons either, eh?” This line of thinking seeming to provide her with the chance to question Kanna about something that she suddenly felt curious about, however, and as such that something that the sable siren chose to enquire about as the upper deck loomed above her only a matter of meters away, while she knew that they would only have a minute or so of conversation left at this rate before their operation would begin in earnest she couldn’t help but ask the emerald eyed lass about what drove her since it was something they had yet to discuss, and yet suddenly felt rather important an issue between them…

Yup, she was defenitely gonna do that, and didn't even feel embarassed about it. Comes with the territory really, no hacker worth her salt could ever turn away knowledge when she could so easily get her hands on it... And not when said knowledge promised a treasure trove of insight into the family life of her mysterious mentor:
"Daaaamn, what would she think huh? To see her sister hanging out with school delinquents~", teased the blonde as she chuckled, secretly rather amused by the all the potential behind such a meeting, all but brimming with curiosity towards the kind of person she might be.
After all, contrast between the two sisters seemed quite stark, making one wonder just how on earth could they have turned out so different... And just what exactly would they inevitably have in common. All too easily Kanna had all but forgotten about her earlier worries, losing herself in her musing for a while, the calm before the storm. It wasn't as if she'd lost sight of what they were actually doing here in the Tokyo tower, but also knew their plan required them to wait until Maya was in position: "To be honest, I'm sure a bunch of heroes are just like you but ain't got the stones to admit it~", or maybe Kanna was merely projecting, chuckling her her smile widened into a knowing, cocky little grin, "...That's the coolest fuckin reason to be a hero if ya ask me." It actually took her a few moments to realize what she'd said, who she said it to, and how it would come off, instinctively glancing away, lowering her head as her cheeks reddend once more. Good thing Maya couldn't see her right now, that would have been embarassing as hell... Even talking about her yet undiscovered reasons for heroism felt like a perfect out, even if it had her ruffling the side of her hair, forcing her to adjust her helmet soon after... Fuck that thing was hot. It beats getting shot but damn... How do soldiers even put up with it: "Yeah, got that right...", in the end though, Kanna could only huff, making it all too clear she didn't really have a clear answer for it either. Sure watching innocent folks getting screwed over by some asshole left a sour taste in her mouth too, but not so much that she'd up and decide to put on some spandex and go punch villains in the face, "...I still haven't figured that out y'know? But I'm still here so there's gotta be a reason." Clearly, it wasn't for any real lack of pondering on the subject... She all but sighed, rubbing her temple with an almost frustrated hint, kinda annoyed at herself for not having a clear answer to such a simple question. And yet she still felt close enough to Maya to actually be open about this instead of evading the subject in some shape or form. "Who knows, maybe I'm just another adrenaline junkie... Or maybe I just wanna know what it feels like... To stare down all those big smug villains and take em down a couple notches~"

You sure you can keep up with a woman like me~?
❝ “Hahahaha, well, I’ll set up a meeting for you guys if you’re so curious~?” Flicking her hair again and settling on a beam just beneath the deck that would be her destination, the dark dish chuckled as she was asked what her dearest and only sibling might think of her interest in a girl no small number of years younger than her, but played the teasing of the teen off in a cool fashion and quickly gave her something new to think of. “She’s got as much of a thing for bad boys and gals as I have~? Maybe moreso…” Grinning as she took a few seconds just to let herself settle and focus her mind and also allow the ‘burn’ from her climb to die down as well, Maya felt a hint of disappointment as she gave the green eyed gal a playful confirmation of at least one manner of interest she had in her simply because she wasn’t there to see how she might react beyond her verbal response, and definitely felt that it would be worth beholding to see her confronted with a hint to her less than professional intentions. “Hahahah, thanks~ Yeah I bet there’s a few who’re ashamed of saying they’re in it for the perks rather than the supposed positive effect on society, but not me~” Happy to hear that Kanna seemed to approve of her mentality toward being a hero, Miss Murasaki tilted her head and peeled her long locks back as she perched on the side of the building and chatted, all while using her vivid violet eyes to see if there seemed to be any kind of response to the plan they had concocted, and was glad to see that her enemies seemed blissfully unaware of her presence let alone the purpose for it. “I know all too well I’m here for the good times and the hot chicks, and preferably the days when they come arm in arm~?” Perhaps if she was totally honest going so far as to acknowledge that she needed this little moment to let off a little steam over the comms with her kouhai more than she would admit, the ebony empress couldn’t help but share a little humour with her star student as they talked about their motivations, though her words also carried a hint of truth. After all, dangerous situations and feelings of gratitude were a wicked combination, for all involved really. “Ohhhhh~? That sounds like a pretty good reason too~” Quietening down a little and taking on a slightly more sincere tone when the emerald eyed enchantress voiced what drove her toward heroism, Maya met the notions she raised with a strong sense of approval and quickly understood why the girl seemed to struggle to make the picture clear for herself initially as well. “Now you mention it, I’d say there might be a bit of that in mine as well~? Hope ya don’t mind me ripping my best girl off a bit~?” It easy for her to forget the fact that she was chatting with a seventeen year old girl who was still marching her way through the mire that was adolescence because of the startling maturity she showed, it was perhaps true that the reason that the raven found such an ready rapport with her pupil was because it felt like emotionally they were much closer in age than the date of their births would indicate, and a part of the pugnacious pro knew that with a little polish they would probably be pretty even in those terms before long as well. Maybe that was part of why she had such a strong interest in developing her, perhaps? “Anyway, looks like that’s all the time we have today, I’m at the mark~?” Unfortunately not given all that much more time to chat with her juicy junior because of her position right now and because now that she had caught her breath she was keen to get on with business so to speak, after taking a long and deep breath the dark dish hummed and looked above her to spy the next handhold she would use to ascend up to her target, and knew that once she did all hell would break loose because of that. “You ready for this~?” Everything, all the planning and the climbing and the conversation all building to this point, Miss Murasaki knew that what would happen soon, in a rather short space of minutes, would define how their day went and that filled her with all sorts of things, but mostly excitement. She knew she could do this, and she had faith that Kanna could too, and now just needed that one word to start things off, and at last get this show on the road…
