Haru finally decided to take a break. The young man had been working 3 weeks straight at the hospital, and burned himself out. He took to the streets and headed out to find a decent bar. In the past, Haru was never really allowed to drink by bartenders due to his meager stature, but he was determined to be able to have a drink. He walked to downtown, a long ways away from his meek apartment. He walked into the first bar in the alleyway, "The Green Hat." An odd name for a bar, but he wasn't the type to judge. The place reeked of fish and cat piss. As he walked towards the bartender, everybody started looking at him. He got onto a bar stool and asked for a drink. "A pale ale, please." he weakly murmured. A few voices chuckled in the background. “How about you order an orange juice box instead, little boy?” shouted a hoarse voice in the far back. Almost everyone in the bar laughed. Haru sat indifferent, waiting for the bartender to ready his drink. “May I see an ID, young man?” the bearded bartender asked, with a slight tinge of jaundice in his voice. Haru was not the slightest bit pleased with the way the question was asked, but he cooperated. He pulled out his wallet and pulled out his card, and slid it over to the bartender. ”I have reason to believe that this is fake.” The bartender’s tone was not nice. ”And why would that be, my good sir?" Haru asked. His voice lost the weak fragility and was replaced by a tone of irritation. ”Because I don’t like kids in my bar.” The man clapped his hands and two big guys walked up to Haru and grabbed him by the arms. ”Hey! Let go of me, you assholes!" he shouted as he was tossed out onto the alley. This was turning out to be a sour night. 327 words / tokyo alleys / @kasey

Vacation. She needed one. Perhaps tonight was the best time as ever. At least, she thought it was night. The shadows the buildings cast and the bright lights did confuse her, maybe it was afternoon. It was probably night, though. She strolled, wiping the barbecue sauce from her face. She had won, and to much disbelief, an eating contest. Whoever had downed the most ribs, wouldn't have to pay for them. Kasey not only ate all of hers the fastest, but also the scraps from everyone else. No one dared to ask how. Even some of the other guys had quirks to help them, and still she won. They didn't know what her power was, but assumed it was a black hole that was in her stomach. She had walked, cleaning her face, turning her head to a strange sound. She looked, only to find a small child. She was curious, and wondered if he too, was hurt. She would lightly make her way towards him, confused as to the reason he was tossed around. Her own attire didn't leave much to imagination either. Her eyes were covered in the blood red eye shadow as before, diamond earrings hung from both lobes, and a slim black dress held her figure, with the front opened in a teardrop, exposing the center of her breasts. "Are you alright?" she would ask. ~ 229 ~

Haru was on the verge of crying. All he wanted to do was have a simple drink. The last time he had even a shot of sake was his 21st birthday. Ever since then, he'd been working at the hospital with very few breaks in between. The boy was tired of being called a child, all because he looked young. The tears began to trickle when he heard footsteps coming from his left. A bar patron? Maybe he could ask them to buy him a drink. But then, they walked up to him. "Are you alright?" she asked. The woman was gorgeous, there was no doubt about it. She had all of the right sizes in the right places. Wait, it's too early to be thinking like this. Snap out of it. the boy thought. He wiped the small tears off his face, and got up off the ground. "Um, I'm alright, ma'am. I got tossed out the bar because they think I'm a child." the boy spoke, his voice almost cracking. He realized, maybe she thought he was a child as well. Shit. "I was just looking to get a bit wasted, so to speak." Haru cleared his throat. He didn't really come to this bar to talk to a random woman. She seemed delightful, but he was simply looking for a drink. "Would you mind buying me a drink, ma'am?"232 words / tokyo alleys / @kasey

He was just trying to get a drink? Sure. That didn't seem so bad. Kasey didn't know what the legal age to drink was, until she was already of age, and even then she had no clue to the numbers. She smiled, reaching out to the boy to pull him up bu his shoulder. There was no use being down. And if he was throw out of the bar then there was no reason to pay they for any service. "Let's go to the market, kid." she would say, "Let's go get whatever you want, and drink the whole case, okay?" she was more trying to get drunk herself, more for her own amusement. It was a long day, and to down all the food without a drink left her thirsty. "Call me Kas." she would say. She would pull him by his hand, or forearm, whichever she could get a hold of first and she would begin to make away with him. She would head to the nearest liquor store or market, but of course, she was new to Tokyo. Where would such stores be? Well it was a night for adventure. Soon, she would be satisfied, and to drink with company would be her bonus. ~ 206 ~

Haru was not appreciative of the term 'kid'. He was a grown man with a good job. He hadn't gone out of his house to be called a kid by some random girl. Hell, it was likely that Haru was older than her. His blood was boiling. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, and exhaled. He was not going to ruin his chances of having a drink because of a misunderstanding. "I'll take you up on that offer." he spoke, the hint of glee in his voice was evident. He didn't know who she was or what she did for a living, but she seemed like someone he could have a good drink with. Then, she spoke. "Call me Kas." Kas. Seemed liked an odd name. Maybe it was short for something? "My name's Haru. Nice to meet you, Ka-" the boy said, as he was yanked by the girl. They were running like the wind, the girl frantically looking around. Does she know her way around Tokyo? I don't think she's from around here. he thought, but despite that, she looked happy. Maybe she was looking for company? That would've been a good reason to go to a bar. Wait, maybe she thought he was a gigolo? Well, it was all up to the higher powers to decide what would happen next. He just hopes that he won't pay for anything outside of the drinks. 239 words / tokyo alleys / @kasey

She would settle on a larger liquor store, one that seemed to be mostly drinks, with only an isle or two with snacks. She would stop and release the boy upon walking in. She looked around with a wide smile, the man at the register was a large man, balding it looked like and was more interested in the newspaper in front of his face than his customers. She would stroll in, looking back at the boy. "Well pick whatever, and I'll buy it." she would say. She made her way to the back of the store with all of the other hard drinks. She looked at her options. The question now, was if she wanted a few hard drinks, or a large volume of weaker beers. Perhaps a mix of the two. She would open the glass door to pick a few bottles from six packs, only to read the label on the bottles before returning them. She was curious to the calories of each. After all, if she was going to drink, she had to make sure it benefited her quirk as well. After all, it wasn't about being healthy, it was actually finding the worst possible option for her. ~ 202 ~

Her grip was tight. When she let go of him, it was almost as if he was let go by a boa constrictor. He shook his wrist to see if he could still feel anything in it. Luckily, the blood had recirculated into his hand. Sadly, Haru was feeling a bit numb. Nonetheless, he nodded to Kas' remark, walking around the liquor store. Most of the items in the shop seemed affordable, but some of them were simple drinks. By the way Kas was looking around, Haru thought it would've been best to find a hearty drink to quench any thirsts she might've had. After all, they did run amok looking for a liquor store. With that thought in mind, the young man asked the glum-looking salesperson a quick question. "What is the strongest bottle of alcohol you have?" The clerk chuckled. Haru bit his tongue in his mouth. "Oh, what big words from such a small boy! Let's see, we have a couple mango juice boxes in the back.. Or would you prefer orange juice instead?" He was fuming. Deep breaths. Mockery is just that, mockery. Handle this like an adult, young man. Those were the kind of thoughts circulating in Haru's head. Yet, that was the farthest from what he wanted to do. Haru wasn't the violent type, but he wanted to smash the guy's head into the ground. But no, that wasn't going to happen because he was going to handle it like an adult. "Sir, I'm a grown man well within the legal age limit of being able to drink alcohol. Now, if you'd like to put mocking me behind you, can you answer my question?"280 words / liquor store / @kasey

Unsure of what the boy would choose, she settled for a six pack of some IPA beer, a large bottle of vodka, and a case of twenty four beers. None of which, were Japanese. She had carried the cage in her right, with the six pack tucked under her right arm atop the large box. The other bottle was in her left. She had walked over to where the boy was, and seemed to be talking to the man. She overheard the conversation, only to make some light out of it. She would lift the case and set it on the counter, along with the other drinks. She reached into her dress, cupping herself to retrieve her credit card. It was golden, flashy, almost a statement, only it was for her to always be able to remember where she left it. The black one she had was probably still in her room, somewhere. She placed it on the counter, leaning in a bit, sure to get on the man's soft side. "Sir if you could be so kind to answer my little brother's question, that would be great. He just wants to know the answer, the we can be out of your hair." She spoke, almost flirting with the man. His cheeks would turn red only to face the boy. His eyes would dart between the two of them. He would set down his paper. "Go on Haru, ask the nice man again." she would say, crossing her arms, folding them just under her breasts. ~ 255 ~

Was she acting? If so, she was very convincing. Haru was about to snap back at her but his gut was telling him not to. He decided to swallow his pride and, with all of his might, raised his voice to the sound of a cute child. "Mr. Cashier person~... what's your strongest alcohol?!" The cashier chuckled and went to the back. He quickly asked Kas a question while the man was away. "Do you genuinely believe I'm younger than you?" The woman seemed like an idiot, but she gave off a vibe as if she was nothing of the sort. She was a very intriguing character. Haru had deduced that she might've also just been a drunkard looking for a friend to drink with. He looked at her with a look of pure curiosity. The man came back with a bottle of what seemed to be vodka. There was no branding on the bottle. "Oh, this bottle right here is our strongest in-house vodka. It's not on the market, so I'll let you two have it for free. You and this genius of a brother of yours are just so cute!" He leaned into Kas to whisper something into her ear. His demeanor was obnoxious, and Haru was not pleased. He bowed and thanked the man. He hoped Kasey would too. After all, they were just given about a liter of exclusive vodka. 234 words / liquor store / @kasey

"Look gramps, I'm just trying to get the drinks. Just play along with their games and it always goes smoother." she spoke while the man was away, waiting for him to return. She was careful to not step on any toes that she didn't need to. But she wasn't afraid of tossing people under the bus, even if they had some uses. He would hand them a unbranded bottle and speak words on how great it was. She didn't care much for any of the drinks like that, but if it made her guest happy, then so be it. He would however, whisper to her, before ringing them up. She would laugh and grab all of the things and quickly make her way out of the store. "OKAY, WELL, CAN'T EVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN." she would say. It was like she was holding her breath the entire time they had gotten the new bottle from the man. She took a deep breath, only to look at the person that was much, much smaller than she was. She would lead them to a small little park and the bench that would sit under a street light. A garbage can was on either side, and both were filled just about half way. To her, it meant they could drink, and toss their trash without much problem of litter. She would set the drinks on the ground, only to wait for her guest to sit as well. It was his first pick of what they would consume. ~ 255 ~
