Finally, Niji had day off to herself. It was the weekend she had been waiting for and she was finally getting to enjoy it. For the past month, she had to deal with school, the benefactors holding onto the family's wealth, and figuring everything out about her quirk. She got some of these issues resolved, mainly the quirk issue. She had prepared a program that would allow her to preset some of her transformations and she was getting better at creating items. She still needed to find a martial art to train in to encompass all the weapons she wielded. She was hoping she could talk to Tetsuko-senpai again at some point and get her help in training her.
But for now, it was time for her to relax and enjoy what Musutafu had to offer. She had not had the chance to tour the city since starting the school year. Now she was excited to see what the city had to offer. She was wearing a yellow t-shirt, displaying the Rainbow Core in her chest. She had finally made repairs on it and was nice to see it working in good condition. She had on a pair of yellow denim jeans and she had cream color hair in a ponytail tied with a rainbow hair bow. Her yellow eyes showed excitement as she walked the busy sidewalks of Musutafu.
The first stop was going to be the tech store. She needed to pick up some things and she wanted to test quirk on tech integration. But first she would sit on a nearby bench outside and look at the busy streets. People were moving in and out of local shops, their kids pointing at things they wanted. Street performers were dancing to the beat of the song as though performing a ritual to bring in spring. Even the birds seemed to be in the mood, singing their afternoon song for those who were relaxing could hear. Niji wonder who she would meet today.

Silver hair, tied in a neat bun, the girl's face bare, save for a small heart shaped marking on her face. It was nail polish, leftovers from her last attempt to do the right thing. The rest of the paint peeled off, but the little black hear around the edge of her left eye remained. She wore a read track suit top with a small hood, and a bright white tank top under. The track top lay in the wind, dancing with each step as she continued her little exercise. Her legs relaxed in a deep purple pair of slacks, and a pair of black tabi shoes to cover her feet. A small messenger bag slung over her side as she ventured into the market. She found herself spending far more time in Mustafu than she had before, even when she lived in the area. It was funnier that way. She found more and more places around her former home than she remembered even being around. They weren't new either, she just didn't notice them before. She smiled, making her way down the sidewalk until she would begin to slow down. She took in the sights around her. Everything felt so new. What would she find today? ~ Word Count: 208 ~ |

Niji never expected the small city to have so much in it. It wasn't home but it was coming in a close second. As she walked down the sidewalk, she wondered how many people were in this city. Were they quirk users like her? Or just the average every day Joe looking to make it big in the world? Who knew. She was just a happy to be a part of something whether it was UA or Mustafu. She hadn't felt this happy in a while. The last time she felt happy was when...
Niji stopped for a second looking in the window of a clothing store. There were eight mannequins lined up, each in a different color outfit. Her friends would have loved this place. Her father would have loved this place. But they were gone now. Each day was a new, harsh reminder of the reality she was living in. Yay, she was becoming a hero. Yay. Sadly, that wouldn't bring back what she had lost. Did no good to celebrate a momentous occasion without friends.
She turned away from the window and took a deep breath. She was trying her best to wipe away the memory. 'No more tears, dammit,' she said over and over in her head. 'I am strong. I am somebody. I am-' Niji was so lost in her thought that she accidentally bumped into someone without looking. She let out a small yelp and fell butt first to the ground, "I am so sorry," Niji said to the white-haired girl. She was very pretty and she had her hair tied in a neat bun. She had blue eyes, which Niji found interesting. She had a small shaped heart on her cheek. "I didn't mean to run into you like that," she said with a smile while standing up, dusting herself off. "Are you okay?"

Sonder. It was German, right? All of the lives around her weren't just faceless people added into a story for flavor. They all had stories waiting to be explored, or perhaps, were tired of being read over. Chapters of a book she would never be able to read cover to cover. At most, she would get a few pages to learn and observe. Sometimes, she was able to enjoy a few chapters, while other times she could feel herself writing the tale. Sonder. A word that translates to special in most languages. Was it the feeling that was special, the ability to feel that was so? Perhaps it was neither, but the person, or the people the person felt for. Language was an interesting thing. People were always so interesting. So many quirks had appeared, from small forms of mutation to greater changes to one's anatomy. None were useless, no matter how minute it seemed. Everyone had a use, even the quirkless. She walked past all of the shops, viewing not the clothing, but the people within. In a passing glance, she misjudged a girl, and in a flash, they collided. Instinctively, she turned her body, to brace herself. She would fall to her rear, and Kasey would extend her hand. "No, the apologies are mine." she would say, "Are you alright?"~ Word Count: 222 ~ |

Niji took the young girl's hand as she helped her off the ground. She dusted the dirt away from her yellow denim shorts. Good thing her quirk didn't trigger off on accident. The pavement was definitely unforgiving to her backside and she would be feeling that later on.
"I am sorry," Niji replied. "That was totally my fault." She gave a wide smile to show that she was okay. "I was the ditzy klutz who wasn't paying attention where she was going. I hope you are okay." Niji felt slightly embarrassed. Here she was being trained as a hero and taught to pay attention to her surroundings. Instead, she tackles another civilian to the ground to he clumsiness.
"So..." said Niji, trying to not make this an awkward moment. "Are you from here?" Really, dummy? What makes you think she wants to talk to a complete stranger? The words ran over and over again in her head, but what else could she do? Plus, maybe this person was friendly. But she might not have time for a conversation. Not only, that she might have been causing this person more grief just by asking her such an awkward question. What would be her response.

People were simple and foolish. They were so quick to get involved in things. Some rushed in without thinking, and encountered other people. Kasey was a change encounter, and this girl was just another mouse trying to find their cheese. "I'll be fine, I've been through worse." A joke, yet her mind drifted to Semper Fi, and event that no matter how long ago, felt like it was only the day before. A janitor who lost their job because simply put, she had done even more than the heroes did. She was punished, for doing good. She was punished, because she didn't follow their code and exceeded them. She was the ideal hero, she knew that, and so did they. She would never bow to those laws. She was beyond them, and beyond their rules. Unlike them, murder was something she could do."From Mustafu? No. From Japan? Yes." She looked upon the girl, and in her own mind had begun to form a few questions and ideas. She looked young enough. Was she a student? Most likely. Possibly Yuuei, but any school was just as good as a guess. "You seem a bit interested in a stranger," she would say with a smile, "How about you tell me a story about yourself, and I'll tell you one about me, deal?"~ Word Count: 222 ~ |

Niji didn't expect anything from her earlier question nor did she expect to enter a conversation. If anything she thought she would get a weird look from the young lady. Maybe she could make a new friend. Like Jeeves always told her- friends are the people you least expect to be your friend. "Umm... okay," Niji responded with a small smile What could she say about herself?
The death of her friends haunts her every dream? No, too much information. That she was a student at UA? Probably not the best idea since UA was up in arms about security. Maybe she just talked about the basics and work her way from there. That she was trying to make a new technology empire off her father’s wealth? Who would care to listen to that? Niji was definitely out of practice as far as conversations with. When did she get this bad at it?
“My name is Niji Uta and I am from Tokyo City. I am just visiting Musutafu for the day.” She wasn’t lying; she was visiting the city for the day. “Hey, would you like to get some coffee? Its the least I can do for the trouble I just cause.” Did it sound weird to ask someone that after you just met them? Better that than standing in the street like a stammering idiot.

Awkward. Was the the right word to describe her, or was that just the word for the situation? It was strange, to simply walk into a conversation. It was like a bad movie. But in this world. Every day was a page from a comic book. Just sometimes you were the character in the background, than the one on the cover. Kasey didn't mind that, but then encounter felt off. Maybe the trade of information would prove her wrong, or right. Perhaps fate was being weaved in her favor for once, or perhaps it was working against her. Only the following would let her know for sure. Maybe it was too much of a trade. There was a million things Kasey could confess to. Systematically murdering literally thousands of people and erasing all evidence of their existence? Maybe being a cannibal of sorts, but was it really called that if you didn't see yourself as human? It would probably just be called eating people at that point. Maybe that she has saved more people than some heroes, despite her history. Former UA staff? Now that's a complicated one. Maybe the corruption and plan to murder even more powerful villains? No, that wasn't for the public to know, not yet at least. "My name is Kasey." she would say, lacking the surname, for she truly did not have one. "Sure? my treat though." she would say with a smile. "Do you happen to know the best place around here? I don't come here that often." Anymore. She had come around often, but not to enjoy the sights, at least, not recently. There was a bit to take in, a bit to observe and learn. Maybe seeing it through the eyes of someone else would be good for a while. It would give her a bit of a vacation from the normal shit. ~ Word Count: 311 ~ |

Niji was surprised for a second. Maybe making friends was not that hard after all. Maybe she wasn't such a bad person. Well, it couldn't hurt to give it a shot. "Sure," Niji said with a little excitement. "I know a place up the street called Starcents that serves the best coffee. Would you like to give it a try?" It would be nice to share coffee with someone else besides being by herself for once. Who knows? They might connect on some things.
It wasn't she was trying to replace the friends she lost. She was trying to fill in the hole that they didn't occupy anymore. It felt really lonely since coming to UA. Sure she had talked to Honey and Desmoshi, which by the way she found cute. But still, it wasn't the same as talking with Jeeves when she was feeling down. Jeeves was her support system since her father and friends died and it filled in that missing piece. But now she was somewhere new with no one to really depend on.
Niji started to make her way up the street. "It's this way," she said pointing up the street. 'Maybe this would be a good day after all,' Niji thought with a smile.

The fact she didn't react as others normally did, was a curious thing. Often people grew flustered at the suggestion, and offered to pay themselves, or to split their treats. She simply excepted it for what it was. Maybe was jsut simply easy to trust others, perhaps to a fault. Perhaps itself, was its own fault. Perhaps they were so starved for interaction, she just went with it. If she was around her age, perhaps Kasey herself would have accepted the same. A free meal and an offer to live in a stranger's home. A stranger no longer. Japan's number one vigilante was her brother. Would he ever give it up to rise a hero? To rise a symbol of redemption? No, he would always fight by his own rules, his own sense of justice. For as long as he would remain by his own rules, Kasey herself would remain a villain. She would always be a criminal, in a world where he could not become a hero. "Sure." she'd answer, following the girl and allowing her to lead. Kasey would begin to inspect all of the gear and belongings she could see from the girl in the few passing moments. She was curious, and she wanted to know what made her tick. Besides, horns like hers usually sent away the normal quirkless people. So this girl was accepting on one end. But to what extent? Did she too have a quirk? And what of? With the pointed hand, Kasey would follow and enter after the girl, or before her depending who got to the door first. She'd look inside and carefully begin to plan what to order. After all, that's what menus all were. They were just options to pick for a master plan of a meal. Sometimes a meal was food. Other times, it was people. ~ Word Count: 308 ~ |

As they enter the cafe, Niji noticed how busy it was. The hustle and bustle of waitresses running around taking orders and people talking about their everyday lives. A couple of high school kids were hanging out after school to talk about homework or something of that nature. The smell of fresh coffee came through the air, welcoming the new pair of girls into the atmosphere.
She and her new friend found a comfortable place near the window, taking a seat on opposite ends. Niji picked her menu, looking for the caffeinated beverage to bring calms to her nervousness. Why was she so nervous? She was making new friends. No point in acting shy since she got this far. The White Mocha Mountain seemed good, so she went with that.
As Niji and Kasey were scanning the menu, a red-haired curly woman came up to their table wearing a white apron with the logo of the restaurant. “Thank you for coming to Starcents,” said the woman. “I will be your waitress for the day. Anything I can get for you?” Niji looked up with a smile. “I would like to try your new White Mocha Mountain if I could,” said Niji. She looked over to her new companion of the day. “What would you like to get?” she asked her.

Murder. It was a fun word to say. It was an easy threat people made. To threaten someone's life with the most basic, vague threat to kill them was easy. Most took it lightly. Without a weapon in one's hands, or the setting for a menacing environment, it would be brushed off. Telling someone that you were going to kill them after they had upset you, was a normal thing to hear. Very few would actually believe it. And thus, the threat to murder was almost meaningless. . . . The cafe was busy, with the staff rushing around to handle orders and patrons. With the students filling up seats, there was a chatter among them all. She thought if any of the conversations were about her, specifically relating to the kid who had bumped into her. As they sat, Kasey looked over the menu briefly, seeing a few familiar things, and others named other strange titles. "I'll have the same, and a croissant." she would say. "Any is fine, thank you." A simple reply, with nothing more to add to it all. She was curious to the introduction of the woman, and she was a bit pretty if Kasey could say so. But for now, she remained silent on the matter. "Seems like a popular place for students." Kasey would say, hoping to cut into the silence. ~ Word Count: 225 ~ |

Nji had been working hard on letting the past go. She wanted to move forward and get to meet new people. That's what her father would have wanted. That's what her friends would have wanted. So she was attempting to move forward. But every time she had seen a poster in her home of the group, she still couldn't help but get teary-eyed. Was this her life- to be alone and afraid to have friends? No, she won't accept that. She would rise above the pain and become something more- something that would make her father proud of her. So she would move forward for them.
She pulled from her thoughts when Kasey commented on the place and how students come here to relax. "Yes," Niji responded with a small smile. "I heard about it back home so I thought I come and check it out." Niji was trying to be more outgoing and explore the world more. Yes, she knew what was Tokyo City, but beyond that, she had no clue. Hence, why she took a chance to do this. "So," Niji started, hoping to make this a little less awkward while waiting for their order, "you mentioned earlier you were from Japan. What part if I may ask?"

Back home? If she was from a ways off, it would make little sense. To live in the area, to call some part of this city home, seemed reasonable. Back home? That was a strange way to phrase it. As if she lived on some strange farm where people married who their parent's told them, didn't use the internet and ate food from jars. What were they called? Oh right, weirdos. But she was a student, or at least acknowledge they were around. Seemed prominent, even with the bits of truth held behind her teeth. "Musutafu is what I used to call home, before I moved beyond Tokyo." she told the truth, and it was. She wasn't from Musutafu, but it was her home for a long time. Some random forgettable small town where she was born to a happy family, before being cast out and forgotten. "I lived with my..." she lingered on the word. It was wrong. None of it was true anymore. But a bond like that isn't broken, just strained. "brother, and his girlfriend. And their daughters for a while." She paused, that wasn't right, was it? "Well, not with his girlfriend, or not that one at least." a puzzling thought before she waved away the thoughts of him. "I think they're engaged, or married now. Can't remember, been a while." She would sigh, folding her hands to lean onto her seat trying to get comfortable. "Any family?" she asked, "Don't parent's still tell their kids to be wary of strangers?" A smile of a joke that wasn't quite, spilled. "I mean I could be a murderer, and you've invited me out to dinner, to maybe never be seen again." A laugh, "But that would make for a good movie."She blinked before clearing her throat. "Joking, obviously." she would extend her hand. "Kasey Setsuna. I actually work at Tokyo General with a few of Yuuei's finest, and a few heroes." Needless to say, it was one hell of an introduction, and one very interesting first impression to leave behind... ~ Word Count: 344 ~ |

Niji listened to the young woman's story as she talked about her family and home. It must be nice to have a brother. It felt weird how she felt about other people still having "family". She lost her mother when she was born. She lost her father when he and her friends died to a madman. The only family she had was Jeeves. She knew that family was from the heart, not the blood, but she felt out of place in the world not being with her parents. Maybe this was how most orphans felt all the time. The whole being out place with society, not understanding why others take their lives for granted and get upset with having to deal with family. She would give anything to have hers back.
But at this moment, she needed to accept the things she could not control and the things she could. Kasey had asked her about her family and talking to strangers. She paled a little when the woman said she could have been a murderer and quickly smiled when she was told it was a joke. "I guess you are right about that," Niji said nervously with a smile. She looked down at the table as she spoke, her smile fading a bit. "My family... is not here anymore. They died a long time ago."
Then she looked back up Kasey with a smile. "But that's okay. I know it sounds silly, but I feel like they are watching over me, smiling." She stopped from embarrassment feeling like she shared something too personal. "Sorry about that. Maybe a little too much." She listened as Kasey explained that she works with Yuuei's finest and few pros. "That must be exciting. What's it like to work with some big-name people?" she asked interested.
