Yeesh… two tournaments in a row and Yumi was facing, arguably, one of her best friends *At the Time* in the first round. Did fate just hate her? Ah it’s not like it was gonna be AS bad this time. Feng respected Yumi a lot more than Darren ever really did and so she knew they wouldn’t be having the same issues she and that blonde bag of dicks ever did. With a smile on her face, somewhat hopeful for what she was walking into to be a moderately well tempered affair…
Yet still… she had some nerves. From their training bouts Yumi knew there was a power difference here and while she felt certain she could at least make it past the first round this year… she remembered how it felt to go out round one last year too. It could feel crushing even when it wasn’t something you thought you cared about, and if she was honest with herself, she felt Feng might care about this more than her. She did seem a lot more like the ‘up close fighter’ type afterall… oh she was worrying about it too much wasn’t she? She shouldn’t worry.... Feng had a good head on her shoulders and they were good friends… this silly fight wouldn’t mess with that.
While she was pacing left and right, Yumi wondering if there were ways she should probably handle this better. Maybe she should go easy so Feng felt like she had more of a fight out of it. Maybe she should go all out so she knows that Yumi didn’t just go easy on her in turn. Really it was never an easy fix when you were thinking ‘how do I ‘nicely’ fight one of my best friends’. She was just running her hands back up through her hair, nearly knocking off her goggles when Red stepped into her waiting area.
That was… genuinely like a breath of fresh air, and not just due to his wind aura.
Red tended to have a great time helping her see things a lot more clearly. He was a bit of a dumbass but he was always… blunt with her. In the best of ways. He knew how to quash her paranoia without feeling like she was being told off about it. They had a laugh at her expense but in a way that left them both chuckling cause of her stupid ass over thinking everything… plus it was just nice to have him here generally. Her eyes drifting over him here or there with a lax smile as she just… felt more and more empowered remembering the miraculous past few days they’d had. Practically heaven to the red head after so long worrying about dragging him down with her or… more stupid over thinking stuff like that.
There was a small bell sound meant to signal they wouldn’t have long left before they were called to step into the arena, and Yumi rose up with a long breath to help keep her nerves calm, shooting Red a soft smile before stepping up into his space, her hands gently resting against his stomache as she glanced up the inch or two between them.
“Thanks Trashcan… I needed this…~”
Reaching up with a free hand she gently took a handful of his hair and pulled him down towards her lips, wrapping hers about his bottom lip and kissing him rather intimately for a moment before giving him a mildly cheeky tap on the rear to send him on his way, brimming with confidence she didn’t have a moment ago, and a warmerfeeling spreading through her just… knowing whatever happened, she was WAY better off than she was last year…~
When the announcer finally started to call out the start of the fight, Yumi stepped up into the artificial stone henge arena, a gap in the rocks allowing the two opponents to clearly see eachother. Looking across to Feng, Yumi offered a warm smile as the announcer continued to rattle off his opening lines, giving their real names, their hero names, and of course their country of origin in this case. Yumi started to loosen up with a smile on her face, her shoulders pulled back and the blue arcing electricity starting to flow over the exposed skin of her costume.
Different from the last time they did battle, Yumi was wearing the addendums to her costume Red had been making prototypes for and had been perfected by the supports department. A set of goggles, actually an old set of red’s he helped electro-proof for her and match the prescription she needed, an orange tint to them too to help protect her eyes from her own bright attacks. A set of lightning rods strapped to either side of her hips, just four in number. As Yumi’s electricity started to activate they unlocked and flipped briefly before hovering in the air around her equidistant from one another as they circled about her, Yumi’s electro-magnesis having been honed over the past year.
And… of course. Perhaps to put a small nail in the coffin Yumi didn’t know she’d helped Feng into, Yumi was wearing the necklace Red had made for her with her curved lightning logo on it. The necklace was MEANT to help control her quirk output without her full costume but he’d never managed to get it to work, opting instead for her breacelets which had been working a lot better. Right now the necklace was really just a useless trinket but… for Yumi, Red had made it, and now she was really starting to understand why he made such a fuss over the coat she made for him.
“Hey Feng!~” She’d call out across the battlefield as the announcer counted down to the start of the battle, Yumi displaying a bright tone to her friend. “Whatever happens, may the Best Girl win!~” She chimed out, more than eager to see what Feng would bring to the table after all their training.
(I couldn’t resist the ‘best girl’ line don’t kill me)

Gaahhhh I'm late!
After the sparring session against Yumi, it took quite some time to recover from the complete sweep she experienced as someone who was lower level than her in terms of fire power. Compared to last year's tourney, she was in a better position since she has a slim chance of winning this compared to fighting someone who was out of her league. Well slim chance is putting it kindly as she is up against one of the strongest people she knows and the number one strongest at UA. Stacking on that she is a dear friend who she respects dearly, she is in a better position than she was last year.
Feng wore her improved hero suit that came packed with the goggles Haruuhi made for her upon her request. It was a white and red battle dress that was packed with all sorts of hidden weapons that she could use. All of it was a culmination of her changes while she was at UA and she wanted to show every piece of that in both her fighting styles and her looks. She also made a promise to herself to make sure this fight stays as light-hearted as possible as she would say best of luck to Yumi before their match would start.
Though it took quite a bit of time to put on the damn thing that she had to jog a bit since Red’s match was finishing up. She doesn't know why she gets like this when she thinks of the idiot. Maybe it's his personality, his attitude, or his heart to help people in need constantly. Her heart would flutter every time she thought of him as she would remember his wind aura and his crazy tactics. He is someone who she deeply respects from the bottom of her heart but she will never say it to his face. ‘But unless, what if….we could…?’, she would quickly think about it before shaking it off as she would head out.
Feng would get a bit red on the face as she would jog a bit faster to where he was since she had a few minutes of downtime. She was resolved to do the unthinkable and muster up her courage to confess her feelings if she wins this. Waiting on these emotions for too long will be bad for her health and she needs to know right then or there if she has a chance or not. Though the living situation between him and Yumi is….let's not think about that.’ Unless…? Nononononono stop thinking about it, it's only going to make you even more nervous than you are, Fei. Just suck it up and say your honest feelings if you win this.”, she would think to herself as she would make her way towards the hall where she was waiting.
Meeting up with her opponent and saying best wishes to her opponent was something Feng had not done in a while. Last year's tournament didn't exactly pair up with the greatest personalities as she got her ass royally kicked to oblivion. But right now it was a more pressing matter as she was in a foreign country and her first opponent by the gods luck above is UA’s strongest student. She was beautiful, strong, a leader and a great friend once someone gets to know them. It was someone disheartening to get her for the first match of her second year and yet she couldn't help but smile a bit since she gets to fight her friend and show her best. The sparring match between them was only a test to see what she can do on her own. But with the battlefield like it is, she would have some things to work with.
‘Let's put those thoughts aside from now and lets just focus on it being a friendly match’, she would think to herself as she was near to the area where she was supposed to meet Yumi. Taking a few turns and so on with nervousness slowly starting to fade away. She would turn the corner, putting on her best face to make sure that it's all in all a fair game. One more surprise would come in the form of a new fighting style that Yumi helped in thinking up during our match ahs wanted to tell her in person to make sure she saw her reaction.
Feng would see Yumi with Red (?) in the distance. She was wondering why they were meeting up the voice in her head tells her something is wrong but she would kick those thoughts aside as she would push on. “Hey Yumi! I wanted to say best o-” she would cut herself off as she got a closer look to see that it is Red and Yumi.
She would witness their intimate display of affection as she would quickly dash away and hide in the corner. Her thoughts were a mess as she would slowly put two and two together. Realizing that all of her thoughts and assumptions were correct as they were in fact together.’They are together, they are a couple, they are dating”, she would say in her head as she would lean up against the wall and slump a bit as tears would begin to well up in her eyes. Her show of affection and her energetic attitude quickly shifted to that of despair. She would fall flat onto the ground as the tears wouldn't stop.
‘Of course I lost, I always lose, I could never have something good happen to me. I train and train and train and yet I lose in every aspect. Who would have thought that the couple living together and were so energetic they sat next to each other on the flight, she were in a hotel room together at the top of the hotel, all of it was obvious as the moon in the starry sky and yet I couldn’t even tell myself I had no chance. I wanted to lie to myself and say that everything is fine but nothing is fine. My life is a mess and a disappointment is what I am..”, the voice in her head started to get louder and louder as she wanted to curl up and stay there. A ringing in her ears started to occur immediately on top of everything and she suddenly she was clutching her head in pain.
"Why is this happening whywhyhwyhwyhwywhwywhy- you know the answer to that, Feng", she would ask herself in mind before a new voice would chime in and ringing would stop. Nothing about it was different, in fact it was the same as her own but something about it seemed...comforting. Like an old friend was talking to her through a voice chat or she was right there next to her.
..........
She would walk out to see the battlefield set before her. It was a recreation of Stonehenge funnily enough, a slight chuckle would leave Fei for a moment upon remembering what country she was in. In the distance she could see Yumi as she would greet her with her usual energy. However a grimace would be on Feng's face for a second as recalled what happened earlier. She doesn't know what she did but it was enough to cause her enough stress to curse her own being. But she had to keep face and thus she shall respond in her own way. They were still friends in the oddest sense, but that still needs to be proven in the coming fight.
"[smear:#bd1f19]You say like you held that title in the first place...[/smear:#12882e:0]", she would retort back as did her best to hide the sheer annoyance in her voice. Hiding it with a joking tone as she would walk closer to the stones in the center. "[smear:#bd1f19]But please save the banter until after the fight, Ms. Yumi. You'll never know what happens at these sorts of things. Professionalism is always in order.[/smear:#12882e:0]"She would add on as adjusts her goggles and makes sure the radio function is turned off.
'Sorry Haruuhi, looks like this gift is going to be replaced soon.', she would think to herself as she waited for the sign to start the fight.

Yumi’s chipper expression faltered a little to replaced with some confusion, surprised by the grimace she was faced with… she got a brief flashback to how Darren looked in her memory. He’d just been pulling a serious expression but looking back on it like this she had this feeling it had always been a lot more… intense. To say the least. She pulled a few steps back, wondering what that grimace was for… maybe Feng was just trying to psyche herself up but even the formal way she spoke was… something else.
“I… right.” She just let out, unsure what Feng was referring to but not about to let herself be freaked out by some mind game or something. Still, she knew now she wanted to test the waters here a little, get her feet solidly on the ground and see what was up with Feng. Even with the girl looking so intense Yumi felt from their training sessions she had some room to at least go easy for a moment or so while she got a sense of what was going on here…
“Right… no banter…” and here I thought this might be fun for a change…
Bringing her arms back, two of the small metal rods floating around her flipped in the air before aligning with her palms, the base of each rod hovering just an inch from the base of her palm before thrusting her arms forwards. The rod’s launched with her usual speed and power behind them, a thick coating of electrical energy wrapped around them and a rough expression on her face, still unsure what to make of Feng’s own words and her tone when this had all began…
She really hoped neither of them regretted this when it was all said and done.

Feng would quickly put on the goggles to hide her eyes as she didn't want everyone else to see the sheer look of pain and anger welling up in them. Haruuhi said they weren't the most durable and were probably gonna break due to the every present nature of her opponent.’We can always get these fixed after, Fei.”, she would mutter to herself as she would activate her quirk and dash to the side to dodge both rods that Yumi fired off. ‘She did say that Red made her some gadgets...it's always her… never mind that, she is going to do something i can see in my mind's eye, Fei. so keep watching.”’, she would grimace yet again but kept her focus on the match. She darted for cover for a moment as her eyes started to tear up yet again.
However, her heart was saying something else as she stayed there for a moment too longer than intended. All of her emotions were leaking out as she would hit the stone structure next to her with her fist as she would desperately try and keep herself calm. “Was it all a show, was our friendship even real? Does she even respect me? Does she even care about this competition? Is she going to hold back? She already knows she can kick my ass and yet she puts on this mask…Is she not taking her seriously? iS SHE LOOKING DOWN ON ME?!", Feng would start to hit the wall behind her as she would get more and more furious at the reality. "I never had a chance, this is was all a farce...my one sided crush shattered without remorse...but she never said anything but it was all obvious...I was too oblivious to it this entire time...", tears started to stream down her face but were contained within the goggles. But she kept moving as she would move between the stones to find a good vantage point. She desperately kept moving to run away from the pain.
“Feng, do you know what you’re doing?”, the voice in her head would ask as she dashed. “I can’t take her on in a straightforward fight, she outmatches me in several areas and I need to figure out what else she has up her sleeve. As I asked before, keep your watch on her, Fei.”, she would mutter to herself yet again as she kept moving from pillar to pillar.
TLDR -Dodging the rods and immediately ran towards the stones for cover. - Is now just running and waiting for Yumi’s next move.

Yumi watched from a distance as she watched the young heroine across from her slam their fist repeatedly against a nearby service… the hell was going on with her? Yumi’s expression was clearly one of worry but from this distance and with the goggles in the way she was easily mistaking Feng’s pain for just some form of frustration… the more seconds passed the more she was just mentally recalling the idea of fighting Darren. Someone’s who’s blood tended to boil if his training wasn’t showing it’s worth… if he wasn’t winning.
“Feng! Tell me you’re okay!” She’d call out, not able to see Feng where she hid amongst the pillars. She grit her teeth and lowered her hands from a more offensive stance, the rods lingering in the air around her hovering down to the side’s of her hips and letting out a deep sigh as her amber eyes drifted across the scene through her shaded lenses. Her guard was up but… it wasn’t as high as it could be, her chest a little tense. “I… I can’t fight you if something’s up here!” She grit her teeth a little… she hardly wanted another friend to.. turn into another Darren.

Yumis voice would ring out as Feng would run, but she would not respond as she kept running. The moment she even thinks about it, the pain in her chest would hurt even more. Tears would start up again but she would quickly remove the goggles to wipe them away before hiding them. She can’t show weakness live on TV, it would be too obvious on replay. All she needs to do is end this as quickly as possible before she starts to have another breakdown. “That's a bit honorable of her- She can beat me in a second, why the hell is she worried about me for...Like hell she cares”, she would think as her eyes would glow yet again. She would clench her fists in rage as she felt her rage beginning to leak out.
But no, she would not stop to reply as she would keep her focus and watch her opponent from afar. Those rods have more uses and she has more tricks up her sleeves. She has everything figured out and everything revolves around her. Everything about her that she once looked up to, is now seen with eyes of rage. Something else in her heart was holding her back from screaming everything back at her. “Perhaps we can talk to her, she is still ou- No. I don’t have the heart for it and any further discussion will make it worse.”, she retort in her mind as she would stand on top of one the many structures
She would look down on Yumi as she would watch her movements. Her quirk, her power, her strengths, her personality, all of it was too bright to look at and she hated it. Every part of her wanted to scream at her but Fei held her back. The thread that was holding her back is the fact that it's all on live TV and she can’t bring herself to bring her personal drama to the screen.
"I'm a failure...I just experienced my first real feeling of heartbreak, I can't trust my family anymore, I may have fooled by the schools strongest girl into thinking she is my good friend and overall I feel...doubtful I can't get any stronger..all of this is pointless at this point", she would think as the look on her face switched from pained to melancholic as she would look at her opponent.
“We’re already fighting. what's stopping you from beating me in a few hits, Yumi?” she would respond in a calmer tone than usual. The tone of voice that she can bring herself to raise because if she did...she fears the words would come flooding out.
TLDR She would keep on moving between the pillars stand on the tallest point of the arena and look down on Yumi respond ambiguously to her question

Yumi kept a keen eye out, her guard still up to an extent if somewhat lax in her current situation. Something was up with Feng and Yumi wasn’t about to kick the crap out of her. She’d had two years of people trying to solve their problems by throwing everything they had at eachother and she wasn’t about to resort to it again unless she had to. Her golden eyes flicked directly to the head of orangey-red hair as Feng came back into view, rising to the top of one of the stone structures of this fake historical monument, Yumi pulling herself back, her rods spiralling at her sides once or twice as she prepared to act as needed.
“What’s stop-ARE YOU SERIOUS!?” She called out almost angry at the question. While Feng seemed a lot calmer all of a sudden Yumi’s brow had furrowed to the point it was visible even behind her goggles, her teeth grit hard in a borderline scowl just from what that question implied about their relationship if Feng really was hurting. She took a step forward, her rods slowly lowering to the ground at each of her sides. “What’s stopping me!? You’re my friend Feng! If something’s wrong with you I’m not about to make it worse by pummelling you or zapping you or what the fuck ever-ing you!” God she hoped the cameras recording this couldn’t pick up her cursing there.
Yumi lay a hand on her chest as he rods seemed to land onto the ground, completely devoid of the electrical hold she’d had on them a moment ago. “If you really wanna fight then fine, go ahead! But I’ve learned enough over these years that I’m not about to be the one you get to blame if you feel even worse after… whatever the hell this is! Throw the first punch if you really, REALLY feel sure that’s what you want right now. Cause if you want a fight I’ll give you a fight… but…!”
She grit her teeth hard again and he fists clenched at her sides, letting out a deep sigh through her nose as the electricity started to fade from her body, it still crackled in the charged air around her but her skin returned to its human, peach coloured state, lifting her goggles off her eyes to look Feng as directly as she could into her own. “Your move Feng.”

Feng's heart would waver as she heard Yumi’s reply. Every part of her body wanted to hate her very existence but then she remembered the good and the bad. Her fists would clench tightly as she hoped she wouldn’t say those words. ‘Don't say it, for the love of god don’t say it. Dont make me hate myself even more DONT YOU DARE EVEN SAY THOSE WORDS- You did this to yourself Feng, I don't see what is wrong what what she is saying... she is your friend after all '' she would scream out in her mind as she would hold back the tears as she looked at her. The goggles hid her expression as more tears leaked out as she recalled the reason why she was so very furious.
But then rage came back that started to flood out ina stream as she vented it all in her head.
“What she learned over the years is that her overly energetic attitude makes her a- Feng, what has gotten into you?”, she would grit her teeth in sheer rage she heard more of her words. “ DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT MEANS TO LOSE EVERY SINGLE FUCKING THING AND EVERY TIME YOU TRY YOUR BEST, IT WOUODN T BE ENOUGH! I WOULDN'T BE SO FURIOUS IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE FACT THAT NO MATTER HOW MUCH I THROW MYSELF INTO MY WORK AND GIVE IT MY ALL, IT WOULDN'T BE ENOUGH! IM SICK AND TIRED OF THIS FUCKING BULLSHIT AND I JUST WANT TO SHOW THE WORLD THAT I CAN BE STRONGER! THIS ISN'T FOR THE FAMILY OR FOR SOME PETTY THING LIKE LOVE ANYMORE! I WANT TO PROVE THAT I'M MORE THAN I AM! IS IT WRONG TO NOT TRY AND WIN, AM I A FOOL FOR EVEN TRYING IN THE FIRST PLACE”, the voice in her head would scream out as Fei would remain quiet throughout the entire internal rant. Her ears would begin to ring but she didn't care as it meant that Yumi’s words fell on deaf ears.
“Then what's stopping you from beating down to a bloody pulp? If you don't care about your crush anymore then I don't get the reason why you are holding back? Are you perhaps lying to yourself? Are you perhaps driven by envy at their situation and how you wish it was you? If you ae that mad then fucking hit her but if you can’t bring yourself to do it then just let me take it from here...because there is nothing more we despise in the world than a hypocrite and you know that”, the voice would retort as Feng realize the sting in that. The tears would begin to well up in her face as she would. There was truth in those words and she cant retort or even argue. Some rival and friend she is for letting her emotions get the better of her. She was tired of all of this, all she wants to do now is sleep for a while... “Fine...just take it away from me...I'm tired of lying anymore...do whatever you want…whatever happens from here on out will be you...”, she would close her eyes as the tears rolled down before they opened again. Her body was her own and her voice is the same, but whoever Feng Yao was went away. Now the one in control is now Fei Yao.
She would of course jump down to the ground and walk to Yumi as she spoke. Fei only caught bits and pieces of what Yumi was saying but it had zero effect on her. It was better to save the explanations later as answering them now would only make things more complicated, personal business should be separated from the public ones. She would lift off her goggles as Yumi did, showing her the tear’s that would streamed down the face of Fengs. The number one heroine of UA would never understand what she did, but the look that Feng left behind would more than suffice to explain what was wrong with her.
“You did more than enough damage, Yumi. I’ll take you up on your offer but remember these words...always check your corners..”, Fei would calmly say to her before she would approach Yumi.
As she got within melee range, she would let Yumi see what exactly was wrong with her friend.”You dont know what you did, but it will be explained at some other time if you care. For now lets just get this over with...”, she would say with a visible frown on her face.
In a blur she would KICK Yumi in the face at full force with her right leg to send her flying to the left. It was a conflicted feeling that could be felt in her chest but she would set it aside for now as Fei would then jump backwards and land on top of one of the many stone structures. The moment Yumi makes her move, she is going to start moving between the pillars to avoid any blasts she is known for.
TLDR -Internal Conflicts -Coming down and approaching Yumi -Throwing the first hit and making it count -Jumping back and landing on top of the stone structures -Watching for her opponents response

Yumi watched Feng carefully, the goggles pulled up to reveal… jesus what had hit her so hard that she’d been crying? Feng of all people had always seemed like an emotionally muted person so to get such an extreme reaction it must have taken something big surely? Yumi bit at the inside of her cheek as she tried to think what could have caused this. “Feng-“ Her words were cut by the other heroine in training rushing the distance between them, yumi taking a sharp step back and realizing she was coming in for an attack. Curved lightning clenched her fists, her electricity flowing over her again just in time for the speedy leg to come in from her side, raising her arms to defend against it.
Her repulsive forcefield generated by her immense electrical output was briefly weakened as her quirk re-ignited, the kick hitting her with more force than it usually would even as she tried to cross guard the kick with her arms. Her body was sent tumbling against the grass briefly before streams of electrical energy shot from her body, stabilizing her till she managed to land on her feet, pushing one hand down to the ground in a crouched position, gritting her teeth. Steam seemed to pour off of her cheek, the un-restrained force of the kick without her quirk fully reducing the damage having lead to a bit of blood from where she’d been biting into her cheek, which now sizzled and steamed with the energy of her quirk heating it so rapidly.
She reached up and dragged her goggles back down her face, gritting her teeth hard. “Fine… but you can’t blame me after all this!”
She’d find out what was going on, she promised herself that, but if Feng wanted to resolve this through a fight Yumi knew better than to just try and deny her the opportunity. Yumi’s rod’s rushed from where they’d been laying on the ground and shot back towards her, spinning around her quite quickly as she rose to her full height again. A static build up formed around her right hand, using the distance created between them by the hard kick to shoot a long distance blast across to Feng. Of course, she expected her to use her speed to hide back in the stone henge display, which was where her second move here came in.
With a reach of her free hand, Yumi re-connected herself to the two stone henge blocks her earlier shots had embedded themselves into. She’d fired with such force they were heavily embedded in the rocks, meaning that as she pulled against the electro magnetic forces connecting her to her tools, the rocks began to shift with them. One, disconnected from any other parts of the structure, would start to fly through the display, knocking down other rocks and barrelling through. The second was supporting the weight of another, a little slower to get moving as Yumi wrenched it free of it’s place in the display, but with a much clearer path now that it’s fellow projectile had knocked down most of the other pillars that would have slowed it down.
“Come on Feng! You want a fight? HAVE AT IT!”

“Don't be so humble, Curved Lightning. There's a lot of reasons to blame you after this, you just haven't realized it yet..”, Fei would retort as she would watch Yumi get back up.
Her eyes glowed as she watched the girl fire off a long range blast of electricity at her. Which was to be expected because her tactics were more centered around her quirk and mind rather than physical skills. Instead of wasting energy to get out of the way she would run to the other side of the pillar she was standing on and simply let herself fall backwards to the grass below. Hiding in the structures can only do so much as she caught a glimpse of what she was doing next as she fell.
The loud distinct falling of the structures could be heard as she remembered those two rods she shot earlier. Of course she would immediately level the playing field in order to get a leg up on her. She had the tactics to do it all, but Fei had other plans she would land on the grass and roll into a run. Going in the direction of the falling pillars she would use the commotion to hide herself and make her way towards Yumi. She would use her quirk sparingly as she dashed to get into a different range. Taking her on in a direct confrontation would be suicide for her and would be damn stupid to try and force it.
So the next best deal would be to hit her with something she can’t block. That earlier sparring session proved that theory and she can use it to her advantage as she got closer. ‘Feng, watch over me. We’re gonna show her what we can really do”, Fei would mutter to herself as she got into range and set her sights on Yumi. She was busy looking in the other direction, distracted and confused as she always is. Taking aim, she would ignite her leg mid-jump and launch a flaming slash at Yumi from the side.
[smear:#12882e]Breath of the Burning Viper: 7th Form- Bloody Blade Dance[/smear:#bd1f19:0]
In a flash, a storm of flaming projectiles would be headed right towards Yumi. It's not a guaranteed hit but it was best shot to see how she will react to something like this.
TLDR -Retort back -Fall backwards into the cover of the debris as they started to topple -Dash under the cover of the debris as they fell -Take aim and launch a volley of fire kicks at Yumi

“No! I’m not having this crap!” She burst out even as she wrenched one of her hands across the battlefield carrying the weight of two chunky pillars behind them, a fire in her eyes she didn’t usually hold. Everything was going so well! So DAMN well! She’d matured, she’d gotten over her hang ups! She was doing well! She had a budding career and she hadn’t even finished the course yet! She was helping the twins case where she could she was in teacher training next year and she’d finally admitted to Red that-
EVERYTHING WAS GOING SO WELL! What was it!? What had she done to fuck it up NOW!?
“I’m not having some stupid. Petty. IMMATURE squabble ruin EVERYTHING again! If this is how you wanna handle things then fine but you AREN’T pinning this all on me! You chose this! You went for this! Will someone in this damn school suck up some blame for their actions fucking ONCE so I don’t have to feel like I’m this grand villain for a change!?”
Her amber eyes burning almost as sparks seemed to flicker around the edge of her goggles, Yumi watched as Feng nimbly and deftly rushed between the collapsing pieces of the structure. Yumi released the hold she had on the chunky rocks and abandoned those two lightning rods. As destructive as they could be they were holding an immense weight behind them and would be too slow to be effective against this opponent. She held out a hand to her side instead, a rod falling into it and holding it tight in her hand as her next idea formed.
Feng knew well enough by now that Yumi was faster and more agile than herself so she should be wanting to close the distance, which meant Yumi was all the more caught off guard when she rose into the air and started pelting Yumi with a Volley of her own.
I’m not making this satisfying for her. I… they need to learn you can’t do this EVERY DAMN TIME. I need to… I need to make this as unsatisfying as possible for her…!
Yumi’s free hand not holding the rod built up a charge before flinging it into the air FAR above Feng’s head, watching it coalless at the perfect height, slowing it’s trajectory and just sort of linging in the air as Yumi’s odd bio-electricity seemed to find a sense of balance with the atmosphere, slowly diminishing, but for now holding a pulsating presence in the air above them all. Yumi’s eyes turned back to the fire coming down towards her…
It’s just fire. It’s just fire. It’s just fire…!
She bent down low, sparks fired off ahead of her. Instead of dipping or dodging she charged THROUGH the volley. Her natural repulsive field helped mitigate the damage but flames licked at the edges of her costume as she pushed herself right into Feng’s face, using the flames she created as a blindspot to rush right into her face.
Yumi reared back the hand holding the rod, gritting her teeth… this was gonna hurt.
Throwing her arm like an uppercut, the tiny metal rod punctuating it as it poked out the side of her fist, she tried to slam her force into Feng’s gut, and if she did so, she’d reach out with her other hand to grab any part of her clothes she could, yelling out like, so early into the battle, she knew this would be a decisive move.
“DELAYED THUNDER DROP”
She pressed down her thumb on a manual charge release on the rod itself, suddenly, through her gut if the impact had been made, a burst of electrical energy would pulse through Feng tensing her muscles making escape that little bit more difficult. From above, the sphere of electrical energy would swirl more chaotically… with no charge in it, the lightning rod had become it’s target. It crashed down instantly through the atmosphere, harshly pulsing through Feng herself in an effort to strike the rod Yumi held.
If Yumi’s initial strike never landed, her plan would be similar, tossing the rod instead the moment Feng tried to put distance between them. The rod would discharge beneath Feng’s position before she reached the ground, attempting to disorient her while the thunder drop continued to aim through her to try and get to the discharged rod.

“Is that what you tell yourself every time something like this happens? Everything happens for a reason and you are just wanting to make sure everything goes well for you. Isn’t that immature in its own right, Miss Number One?” She would retort yet again as she would see her get even angrier. Fei fully knows she is going to lose this fight but she has to at least send a message. Feng kept her feelings on a short leash and fighting was her way of suppressing it. The last bit of lingering feelings went when she heard that outburst. She wanted her to get mad, if she doesn’t put two and two together then maybe she will tell her later.
‘Prove me right, Prove me right and hit me with all you got. Because that's what you want to do. Blast me’
Fei would watch her movements as she would soon abandon her domino strategy in favor of something else. As for what she was doing? Fei can try and predict but it was always better to go with the flow and see what happens. She was already in a bad spot in the air and she could do anything since she has a leg up on her in speed and movement in the air. So lets see what she has planned, now shall we?
For a slight moment, she would see her throw something high into the air but it was only at the corner of her eye in which she saw it. Maybe she's seeing things? Maybe she is going to do something with those weapons custom made for her. Who knows? She was ready for whatever she came at her with as she did. However she was taken aback by her burning conviction to eat all of her attacks, she had something in her hand and she had a feeling she knows what it is.
“Oh ho? So you came to me first? That's sweet of you, Curved lightning”, she would sarcastically say as she smiled as she saw the hit that was coming to her. She aiming for her gut, she could feel it, she could feel it coming. It was coming fast and it was coming hard. An immense feeling of satisfaction would go through her face as she would see the face of Yumi twisted in anger. Evening letting out a light chuckle as she would ready up for her response.
However she would deny her of all satisfaction of landing a hit on her as she would activate her quirk at the last second to spin herself sideways in the air. Rolling with the strike and seeing her attack that was coming from behind her, she can;t escape what was coming. It was obvious with her speed and strength, so might as well take the opportunity to land a strike and see if she can get hurt by her own lightning. She has enough gadgets to mitigate it so it would hurt too much. The attack was coming fast and she had a small window to do what she wanted so she wasted no time on chaining together techniques she prepared before this.
[smear:#bd1f19]6th Form- Autumn Wind[/smear:#12882e:0]
She would use the force of her uppercut to quickly get behind her. Like a leaf dancing in the wind, she would barely dodge her strike as would ignite her leg midair. She was aiming for her lower back which could be Fei’s idea of a sick joke or maybe it was a part of Feng wanting to do it. Either way, this was going to hurt and like hell she was going to fall for something like that.
[smear:#12882e]4th Form- Solar Eclipse[/smear:#bd1f19:0]
An ignited roundhouse would soon follow through as she would hit her again at full force. She didn't care if she had her defenses up or not. If it hit then she would keep herself in the air by using her techniques to avoid falling to the ground immediately. More or less floating like a falling leaf. If she didn't make contact then she would use a more dynamic technique to dash around in the air to chase after her. However she would take some of the surrounding damage from that attack she did and she could feel her body feel the static flowing through.
“I did give you a hint on what you did… Did you ever mention anything big to your friends or anything life changing? Did you ever check down the hall and see a friend walking into a see heartwarming scene? Can you do simple math or is that too hard?”, She would say to her as she would start falling towards the ground. The look on her face shifted to rather agitated glare as she gave her explanation.
“Do you understand or are you still too daft to get it?”
TLDR: -Fei retorting yet again - Watching her movements and getting ready -Be surprised by her trial by fire and welcome her with open arms -Seeing her attack coming -Using a technique to roll and spin to avoid taking a direct uppercut -Activates her quirk to quickly get behind Yumi and kick her yet again - Falls to the ground while giving her more hints

“The hell are you on about now!? I’m not number one here! I never have been!” Heck referring to her fighting skills or the school popularity thing this was true. She’d been trumped in both each time they came up and she didn’t get at all where Feng was coming from. And she didn’t just care that everything was going her way! She just hated everyone else blaming her for their own immature crap! She hated Darren making her feel insignificant for trying to challenge herself against him! She hated Kirk briefly for trying to use her to get rid of her emotional hang ups! And right now she hated Feng for not being mature enough to use her god damn words!
Her rushing assault would remain the same but where she’d tried to slam a punch into Feng’s gut the girl’s superior close range talent gave her the edge and she could feel her punch somewhat skim against Feng rather than land a pure blow. As such, she’d delay her tactic further. The electrical sphere in the air would linger there for a few more moments, still dissipating but ever present as Yumi’s hand held rod remained fully charged. She heard that chuckle though… that almost sick little chuckle. The hell was she doing!? Was this all just some big plan to get under her skin or something!? Yumi didn’t think she’d stoop so low to win a fight but…
However she would deny her of all satisfaction of landing a hit on her as she would activate her quirk at the last second to spin herself sideways in the air.
Rod still grasped firmly in her hand she watched Feng move about her speed driven gut punch and tried to hold her position firmly in the air where Feng would perhaps struggle to do the same given the nature of her flight. Of course Feng didn’t skip a beat, getting behind Yumi while the momentum of her punch was still carting her. Yumi tried to turn quickly which just lead to her waist getting a kick rather than her lower back, and a swift round house to follow sending her careening towards the ground. Her repulsive field took a majority of the force for her but she easily hit the ground with some force behind her, smashing through one of the fake stone pillars. There was a pause as the cloud of dust her impact generated settled, and she took in a wheezing breath as she pushed to her feet, her head sizzling again as any blood that came from that strike evaporated immediately. As she turned to look at Feng, there was near constant steam from the left side of her forehead as her electricity burned and sealed away a deep cut from the kick and impact combo.
“Are the insults… really necessary Feng…?” She asked through almost grit teeth, panting harshly as she tried to catch her breath. Thanks to flowing around that attack Yumi had been taking the brunt force of several attacks and Feng barely took even one. Things weren’t looking good for the electric heroine but she wasn’t about to give up so readily.
“I don’t know… I just DON’T okay!?” She stopped fighting for a moment to make it clear, throwing her arms open to each side. “I don’t know what I did!!! I tell you everything when I’m ready to! You helped me get supplies to study to be a teacher! You were a comfort to me when the Darren shit blew up in my face!” She pounded at her own chest, tears welling up behind her goggles, a fist tight around her remaining lightning rod, the other spare she had lost in the combat. “You are one of the few people I still really, TRULY trust in this school and what does it get me!? Some riddle of what I did wrong to deserve this!!!”
She breathed heavily, she felt like she should say more but…
“…I’m down to just him I guess…”
She was done with this… the immature comments, the put downs, the criticism the fake friendships the competitiveness… Fine. If that’s all that mattered to people… if no one but him was gonna just be genuine with her and just… see some issue in her with every step she took…
“… One chance to tell me Feng.” She held up the Rod, emphasizing the number. “One.”
She charged the rod in her hand, and flicked her wrist upwards. The rod shot into the air with far more force than it rightly should, launching into the middle of Yumi’s hovering sphere of electricity. The introduction of metal shocked the balance of the electrical sphere and it sparked wildly and uncontrollably, filling the top of the barrier with a micro storm of electricity, the metal rod slowly falling back towards the ground.
Yumi solidified her stance… she put her arms forward, her fists closed tight, and her thumbs touching between them. A surge of energy seemed to run up one arm and right back down the other, and from the look on her face it was clearly a process Yumi found painful.
The top of the arena sparked and crackled as Yumi’s earlier sphere was unleashed. Going upwards to escape what was about to come would certainly be risky thanks to the micro, brief storm that had been created by the unleashed energy, and Yumi’s aim was nothing to be scoffed at. Whatever was coming… Feng had seconds to act.

Fei would wonder if what she was doing was just. She would listen to Yumi’s heartfelt words as she would speak about all the good Feng has done, the things she never thought to realize before acting. Jumping the gun and letting her emotions take over for her.’ Was this really the way a hero should act? Is this what you really wanted Feng? Was simple jealousy enough to blind you from the bonds you already made?’, she would ask herself in her mind as she would not say a word before. The tears in her eyes were real and Fei would simply look on as she was not the one she was talking to. She was only a stranger cleaning up a situation caused by her other half.
Was doing all of this worth for some petty revenge? Is this all worth it for a single heartbreak? Was it all reasonable to get this hurt for something simple as her heart being broken. It wasn't her place to even intervene because she wasn’t the one who was hopelessly in love, she wasn't the one who bottled up her feelings until this point, she wasn't the one who would lash out and hurt one of her good friends who she tirelessly helped. Feng was the one who did all of this, she opened up her heart too much and she flew too close to the sun. She was always the emotional one who would release her rage all on her own, she would never understand the simple act of talking would solve this issue. But no she would resolve something as petty as this, to simply lash out at her friends as immaturely as possible. She was no good friend of hers, simply another face in the crowd and a pain in her chest started to happen as she pointed her rod at them. She would hear the comment and simply tell her the truth without faltering.
“You already know the answer...It was Him. It was all about Him. Are you happy with that reply? Are you not satisfied with the plain truth? You think that you were the only one who had feelings? Did you even think of all things that happened over here that you didn't even think about how she felt being the third wheel? To driven to the very point that she had to awaken me for a petty squabble like this? Are you driven into ecstasy by him? Are you happy? Because everything you felt was also Fengs. She was resolved to confess and everything….and now I’m here to clean up her mess. The most childish thing she could ever do and I’m here to clean up...”, She would let the words flood out and would take a neutral stance. “Are you happy with that?”, asking as she would begin her next move
With all the static in the area, she wouldn't be surprised if the broadcast has messed up in some way. Fei would look at her stance and would quickly remember where she saw this from, it was only a glimpse and she knows what damage it can do. She had to dodge, she had to do it, if she wanted to survive she needed to get out of the way or something.
…….
But ……. She couldn't bring herself to put her arms after the things she put this girl through. Oh so desperately wanted to hit again at full force to send another message for not getting it sooner. But she is also Feng's good friend, she was someone she had trusted for a long time and she let her emotions get the best of her. Does someone like Feng, someone who would betray her best friends trust in the heat of the moment over heartbreak., to win and go onto the next round? The answer is left up in the air as she would see the entire arena bathed in electricity.
She can run for cover but the blast would soon take that away. No, the only answer she could do was simply walk into it. It was the least she can do, she doesn't deserve to win if this were the means of how to get to it.
Fei would go against all of the warnings in her head as she would walk towards Yumi. No intention to dodge, no tricks or anything. The look on her face would be painted in regret as she would walk forward. She could die, She could get crippled, she could feel the worst pain imaginable and yet none of it scared her as she would walk forward.
A voice in squeak out as Fei would walk forward towards the railgun. It was weak and it was painful but there were only a few words that could be heard by Yumi.
“[smear:#12882e]..I’m sorry[/smear:#bd1f19:0]”, was all that was heard before Fei would take back control. She wouldn't try and stop her or anything but simple words like that can never amend anything. Maybe Feng heard everything and learned the error of her ways? No. She was too naive for her own good for something like this. After this entire festival, she only has herself and herself alone to trust. She has to live with her hot-blooded actions and this is what she asked for.
TLDR: -Landing and getting ready -Insulting her other half for doing this -Listening to Yumi -Giving her the straightest answer -Seeing the railgun -Walking towards Yumi -Feng soon regretting her actions but it was too late - Coin Toss on what happens next

Yumi’s arms were burning… and that was probably the only thing stopping here from just dropping everything and moving to Feng now. To try and console her and just… she didn’t know what. She didn’t know what she could do but her railgun charge continued to hold for every second she tried to think about it. Really? It was as simple as that? Even when she’d tried to refocus herself… to mature and be more responsible with what she considered her love life she… she still ended up hurting someone like this? Someone she cared about…!? Feng was… saying some odd things. Awakening someone? Yumi had no clue what that was about but if she was trying to shift the blame for her own actions that… it got under Yumi’s skin a little in a way she didn’t like. She wanted to forgive this she knew what this kind of hurt and betrayal could feel like on some level but… she wasn’t okay with Feng trying to shift the blame onto some imaginary persona. “… I’m happier than I was.” She admitted… even just knowing what spawned all this was… something to her. Feng started to move towards her, showing no intent to dodge or avoid… this didn’t have the hints of a game of chicken either, calling Yumi’s bluff or the like. The look on her face… she was ready to take the brunt of this. Really it was the same as most of Yumi’s other attacks in terms of what she was outputting to make it happen but… with a metal rod at it’s center? She could tear through Feng. A girl who relied on dipping through and avoiding attacks… Yumi was almost certain even SHE was more durable than Feng in the end… She glanced up, the rod was almost at her level and if she broke the circuit at her thumbs the thing would fire off anyway. Gritting her teeth, the most she could do while holding her arms straight was drop a knee. She pivoted on her other foot, the angle of her shot aiming off to the sky and to the side of Feng. She closed her thumbs into her fists breaking the circuit and- KA-KOW
A burst of sound echoed within the dome barrier of their arena. The force generated as the magnetic break shot the metal through the air was immense and the force soon followed behind the sound. Even as a missed shot the amount of force created when it broke through the air, displacing it en-masse was… almost hard to quantify. A missed shot still felt like taking a truck’s front end to the face and both girls would get to experience that. Yumi’s quirk briefly faltered, her repulsive defences and her flight fading as the force of the blast knocked her back to… but she grit her teeth, throwing her momentum about and putting her legs behind her as she turned her eyes at Feng again. A burst of sparks emitted from the base of her heels pushing her off the ground before she skimmed across it like a pebble on water. Sparks ignited ahead of her and she darted full speed towards Feng, the girl likely disorientated by the blast itself and the sound it generated ringing in her ears. “Sorry too…!” She yelled out through grit teeth, the lens of one of her goggles cracked and foggy but a sense of pain shining clearly through the other. She reached out, grasping the fabric of Feng’s costume, wrenching her dazed body off it’s feet and up into the air beside her. “Take a nap Feng…!” With a bust of force, burning streaks of electrical energy pulsing off the back of her arm, Yumi took the body of her friend and slammed it down into the earth, crushing a scattered pillar beneath her and thrusting everything she had through Feng in that moment. A painful ringing sounded in her ears and almost seemed to vibrate through her skull, a burning, crushing sensation flowing back up through her arm… but this needed to be over. This wasn’t the time or the place to discuss this and if making sure Feng was out of commission JUST long enough to save her from doing something stupid to herself… That was enough for Yumi. As Feng’s body finally hit the ground a burst of electrical energy sparked from the two of them, pulsing from Yumi to Feng and feeding right back into the former of the girls, Yumi left panting as she stood over Feng, her other fist charged and ready, steam flowing from her body as her energy evaporated every droplet of sweat she formed, and heavily panting as she held on tight to the front of her friend’s costume… She needed to make sure this dumbass stayed down before she made them both regret today…
