Hayley had not been doing this for long; perching on top of a building like some leather-clad gargoyle, eyes sweeping the street below from behind her helmet’s visor. At the first sign of trouble, she would be there, springing down the fire escape to her right and then bursting from the shadows in a flurry of fists and stingers. She could see herself doing so in her mind’s eye, and she looked pretty damn badass in her humble opinion.
She shivered suddenly; God, the evening air was cold. She did not want to admit it, but despite her imagination nerves stirred within her. The number of scars and bruises on her body had doubled since she took up the life of a vigilante – no, a hero. But that was just the price heroes had to pay, was it not? Of course it was not easy. Of course they got hurt. She scolded herself for being even the slightest bit afraid.
She stood and was making her way to the other side of the roof when she heard shouts. A fight? She chased the shouts to the right edge of the building and looked down into the alley below – yes, that was a fight alright, between what appeared to be a kid her age and an ugly crew of thugs.
“Showtime,” Hayley said, darting down the fire escape and then leaping right into the fray exactly how she imagined herself. “Alright, break it up!”

It had been a pretty nice day up to that accursed, violent moment. All that Maximilian desired, on that sunny, yet cold day, was to buy himself that huge tub of ice cream that he had seen on a promotional flyer he found on a short trip to his mailbox. He had moved to his new dorm not even two days ago, and yet, advertisement companies already knew where he lived. He simply could not escape them and, this one time, he was actually grateful, for once, that he couldn't.
Now, with a huge smile, completely uncorrupted by his usual perversion or love for anime, he was walking home with a slight jumpyness to his step, humming to himself some anime opening theme that he particularly liked. Such distraction, however, could only spell problem for him. He bumped into three new adults, right on the alleyway he was instinctively taking as a shortcut back to his dorm, whom seemed to be rounding mid-twenties, more or less. Quirkless, of course, seeing how they reacted when they realized that the boy who just bumped into them had skin as cold as ice and, not only that, the air around them began getting progressively colder. They reacted badly, real badly. They soon started to scream about the fact he was a mutant freak, the type they hated the most. That he should be sent to containment camps, contained, experimented on and shot, nothing else.
Such hurtful words fell on deaf ears, due to the fact that, unlike the losers in front of him, he actually had loving parents who taught him that his quirk was a blessing, that he should never feel shame about it and those who spoke out against him with such hateful words were insecure, nothing else.
A smirk came upon his face as he was picking his left ear with his left pinky finger, his snark getting the better of him as he plucked out a sizeable, positively disgusting wax ball out of it, his eyes turning to them. "Do excuse me, I couldn't hear your pathetic rambling." He snarkily said, his lips puckering up as he blew it right onto the face of the one in the middle, and the one who was the most outspoken on his blatant hatred. He continued, his confidence showing quite clearly. "Please, do keep telling me about your baseless hatred." He let out as his lips curled into a poisonous smile, taunting them to start up a fight against him. And start they did, falling into incoherent rampling about him being a "retarded, super-powered brat", attempting to kick, punch and even tackle him.
Except, well, he was a super-powered brat for a reason. Around him, seemingly from the ground, due to the fact that he had bought enough time for the air to fall to proper temperatures through simply ignoring their complaining, an ice orb formed around him, constituted by rough, sturdy walls made out of several triangular edges, the most stable and durable of shapes. 8th grade Geometry serving him well. To push forward his cockyness, even if it was unecessary and simply wasted valuable stamina, an ice chair formed under him as he sat on it, humming to himself as he waited for them to give up, for them to realize how stupid they were and to simply leave. Although his posture was almost broken as they stopped for a second and started reaching for the biggest, toughest objects they could see on that alleyway. Rocks, bats and one even picked up a broken pipe were considered to be used to break his wall. As he slightly grit his teeth to prepare his own body to spend a large amount of stamina reinforcing his wall, that was, until someone appeared to save him. A biker with a weirdly feminine voice stood before him, separating him from the guys with her own presence. Although his circumstance was not that dire yet, it was definitely appreciated, specially after he noticed, from what he could see from around her that they were starting to leave, deeming them to be "too stupid" to care. From his view, excuses to hide their insecurities. Now, to get out of his shield, since he wasn't strong enough to actually destroy it himself, he had to telekinetically move it. He slowly raised the shield he created, his head hurting a bit from the effort, dropping it next to him as it broke into a million pieces, startling the poor boy, although he made sure not to let out any noise, in fear it'd sound too feminine. " Eh.. thank you for the help. Who are you?" He asked, a slightly shaky voice from him due to the slight tiredness he was getting hit with, along with the effort from having to control such a large ice creation of his. He hoped it wasn't too noticeable.WORDS: XXX TAGS: @tag NOTES: Meep

The truth was the thugs would have kept fighting, for they raised their weapons and demanded Hayley move before she got hurt, but the sudden sound of buzzing gave them pause. Hayley smirked from behind her helmet as her hornets descended on them in a stinging frenzy. The thugs were flailing messes as they fled screaming about the pain.
She started to follow after them, eager to dish out more punishment, but a voice spoke out in her mind: innocents always come first. Her father’s voice. One of the many things he had told her back when he was training her to become a hero like him. She stopped and let out a slow, long breath to calm herself as best she could.
“You better run, pussies!” she called mockingly instead.
Her hornets returned to her body through her right hand. With them gone, she walked back over to the thugs’ would-be victim right as he moved his shield. She halted for a moment and raised an arm defensively as it dropped and shattered, but fortunately none of the shards hit her.
“I’m Vespa,” she said in response to his question. Important to use her hero name when out doing hero things. Besides, it made her feel cool. Speaking of cool, was the air around this guy cold or what? She supposed that made sense, though, given his Quirk.
She raised her visor slightly as she spoke; she was conscious she needed to keep her identity as hidden as possible, but she did not feel she could be identified from a tiny glimpse of her face. It was important not to appear too intimidating to innocents.
“You need to be careful around the backstreets, you know?” she continued. Another thing her father had taught her was to give innocents advice so they would not end up in the same situation again. “They aren’t always the friendliest places to us Quirkers. That was a neat trick, though, I’ll admit.”

This covered up biker stranger was definitely incredibly cool by his standarts, even if this person had a slightly affeminate voice and a REALLY foul mouth. Not his favorite things, he liked politeness, even when doing less-than-reccomendable stuff like perving on someone.
Now, this stranger's name was "Vespa". From what he knew, it meant "Wasp" in some latin-basede languages which, arguably, was quite an impressive naming job for someone he at first thought to be a simple thug with good intentions. Maybe he was under-estimating her which, realistically, was quite rude and he shamed himself for it, secretely, of course. "A pleasure to meet you, hero!~" He said, knowing fully well how much any of these vigilantes would love to be called heroes, which was what they truly wanted to be, at least, he thought.
Now, an even bigger surprise fell upon him: there was a reason why this stranger seemed to have such an affeminate voice since, the moment she raised her visor, he could see it clearly, even if it was just the eyes! A pervert like him could tell instantly, such strong, yet adorable eyes could only belong to a woman! He fanboyed internally as he quickly took his phone out, knowing fully well how weird a camera would look. " Please, take a selfie with me!" He pleaded, using the "fan" thing as an extra excuse, walking over to her and holding her side as if she was just a guy, not falling on the mistake of putting his hand too close to her breasts. Instead, like a properly intelligent perv, he just pushed the side to himself, since he was just hugging his "hero". He raised the phone, smiling happily. "Ready?" He asked, his eyes darting to the side to stare into hers.WORDS: XXX TAGS: @tag NOTES: Meep

‘Hero’. The word made Hayley’s heart swell. He called her a hero. A goofy, delighted grin spread across her face before she could stop it and her cheeks turned slightly pinkish, making her grateful she had her helmet on.
She had started down this path in the name of being a hero, standing up to injustice just like her father and the other vigilantes of old, but this was the first time anyone had called her a hero directly. It made her feel so much more confident in herself, as though she were an empty bottle being filled up with it. She was not a criminal, like the police foolishly branded her. She did not need a fancy ‘hero school’.
She wished her father could see her now, she thought with a pang of sadness. She hoped the great vigilante-hero Beetle Battler would have been proud of her. She had done her best to continue in his footsteps, even if he never got to finish training her to succeed him. And now someone recognised her as a hero. Surely this was only the beginning!
Her thoughts were interrupted as the innocent she had rescued said something about – a selfie? Wait, what? No, not like this! She hurriedly snapped her visor down; yes, she did not feel she could be easily recognised from just her eyes, but she did not want to risk anything with the Internet, damn it.
“Alright, go I guess,” she grunted. “Make sure to drop a message for people that Vespa is watching out for them.”

Just that visor closing immeasurably dissapointed him and ruined his day. He was expecting to at least get the eyes of his new favorite Japanese hero, a cool woman, and now, she had covered her eyes and it was impossible to prove that Vespa was a female. He nodded, hiding his dissapointment quite well with the fact that, in any way, he knew that she was a cool fighting girl and that was quite enough by him. He took the selfie, wrote the message she desired and sent it to everyone he knew.
With that done, he waved to her happily as he walked away, plotting various possible ways of catching Vespa: to reveal her face and see just how cute she was. A pervert like him has that 6th sense: he felt that she was cute and, obviously, he believed in that assumption with every fiber in his body. "See you, Hero! Thank you again!" He said joyfully, waving to Vespa as he turned the corner and walked away, not wanting to take any more alleyways. He knew better now. WORDS: XXX TAGS: @tag NOTES: Meep
