OPERATION: SCHOOL GIRL THE SUN BEAT DOWN ON TOKYO, straining past thin fingers of grey clouds. A faint, frigid breeze whipped around the twins’ legs, stirring at their pleated, knee-length skirts. At a glance, they looked like students, an illusion completed by the sailor uniforms that each one donned-- white shirt with blue accents, with matching blue kerchiefs, and socks. They also wore practical brown loafers. The only aspects that broke the illusion, besides their plantlike features, were the black surgical masks to conceal their dagger-like teeth.
They sat by a rather urban but otherwise nondescript looking thug. In the distance, the clock struck noon.
Clasped in Ayame’s hands was a small photograph of another girl, without eyebrows, short bangs, and a mean face. That was their mark. Michiko Hashimoto, of the esteemed Hashimoto clan. Their task was to find her and follow her home. Thunder didn’t like her family very much, and wanted to know where they were.
“She should have been here by now,” the thug growled impatiently.
After their first tryst into society after their capture by Thunder, and the almost-failed mission, it had been decided that the twins were not allowed out unaccompanied. The issue was, of course, the general lack of teenage girls in the organization. The school that the twins were infiltrating was, after all, an all-girls’ school. They couldn’t have some low-ranking yakuza nobody with face-tattoos following them in.
So Thunder’s organization reached-out to an affiliate… someone who was of the appropriate demographic or, at the very least, could pass as the appropriate demographic. The twins were now waiting for them to arrive. Then they’d venture on to the massive campus and start casing the area for their target.
Their only information was that the girl was in her second year of high school, and therefore would be somewhere on the second floor of the main building. They’d gone over a map of the building prior to departing.
The yakuza-nobody on the bench cleared his throat, apparently spying the person he had been looking for.
“You’re late,” he spat, “Where the fuck is your uniform? No one’s going to let you onto a campus looking like that.”
The twins looked-up, burnt-orange irises tinted with similar sheens of inquiry. Zugai had all-but fought them into their uniforms, insisting that they wear socks and shoes. After much yowling and gnashing of teeth, they’d been wrestled into the uniforms. If their teammate wasn’t wearing a uniform, though, all bets were off.
“These two don’t talk, at all,” the yakuza-nobody explained.
Not to him anyways, Ayame thought drolly, glancing at her sister.
Suzume snorted and leaned closer. After sparing the girls a glance, the gangster continued to speak.
“Seem to understand people just fine though… were you already briefed on today’s objective?”

We deal in favors.
That was one of the very first lessons Byeol-Su Mae had been taught when she had begun working with him, when she was still quite a bit younger than she was now. They deal in favors. In exchange for money, assistance, or anything else that could feasibly be traded, they got what they needed. If a person couldn't give back what they had gotten then they were removed. From what, exactly, Byeol-Su never asked to clarify. She didn't need him to tell her that they killed those people or not, or if they were just blacklisted. Still, their favors were beginning to pile up in this city. From Nakano to their work on the black market to everywhere else they had reached, they were amassing quite a few favors. They were saving them for something nice.
However, this was one of the few times the favor dealt was her.
Byeol-Su stepped out of the car and glanced at the reflection of the driver in the rear-view mirror. She didn't like doing these things alone. He knew this.
But a favor from Thunder was a favor from the biggest criminal empire in Tokyo. They couldn't afford to turn it down for her comfort. She knew this.
So she stepped out of the car, her form that of her usual appearance--gray, clay-like skin and a plain, feature-less purple dress and no shoes. When she saw the man she'd been told to report to she approached without any hesitation, only stopping for a second at the sight of the two other girls behind him. Oh. What unusual skin color and hair texture they had! It almost looked like they have plants for hair. Were they plants? She wanted to reach out and touch them and find out, but she was snapped out of her curious stare by the yakuza fellow talking quite...rudely at her. Byeol-Su met his eyes without blinking, pupils non-existant against their deep purple, almost black, hue. He was gross. Ugly. Not physically, maybe, but inside.
Thank God he was not her host today.
"I am not in a uniform because I am not going to be seen by the students. Were you not briefed on what I am or what I do? Are you not high a rank enough to have been told?" Her lips split her face in a smile too wide for her face to support, though there was nothing kind to it. "If I do not have to, I will not talk to you either. Let me talk to who I am working with, chuhan."
Her smile receded to the size of a normal, physically-reasonable smile and she walked right around the Yakuza towards the pair of girls. She clapped her hands together and they made a soft "splot" sound of wet clay slapping together. "Hello! I am ParaSyte! I am happy to meet and work with you!"
"What are your names? Are you sister? Twin? Twin is the word, yes?"

OPERATION: SCHOOL GIRL HER SKIN WAS LIKE MUD, barely clinging to her form, as if she was made of ice cream that’d melted in the sun. The twins’ eyes glimmered with intrigue, craning to get a look. She spoke shrewdly towards the yakuza-nobody, receiving his scathing remark with a humored remark of her own. She didn’t take any ridicule from the man, and the twins really liked that. The girl just as soon dismissed him, and redirected her dark eyes towards the twins. They remained seated, as the girl was… considerably shorter than them. Introductions were made—her handle was “ParaSyte”. She was happy to see them. Ayame pulled a small memo pad out of her bag. She opened the notepad, and showed the first page to the melting girl before them. In uncertain hiragana, there were three words. “Ayame.”
&
“Suzume.”
=
“Cordycep.” Ayame tapped the first name, then pointed to herself. She then tapped the second name, and gestured to Suzume. The two bobbed their heads in-stereo. Yes. Sisters. Their orange-brown eyes pinched in delight. Suzume extended a hand towards ParaSyte’s arm, too intrigued by the goop to not hazard a touch. They hadn’t seen many quirkers, before. Particularly not mutants. So anyone who was mutated like them warranted their interest. The yakuza-nobody cleared his throat. “Do you know where you’re going?” he grunted. The twins glanced at their escort, then flipped their photo over. On the back was a street map that outlined the route from the park (the rendezvous point) to the school. The yakuza-nobody roused himself from the bench, leaving the trio to their own devices. The twins focused on the girl before them, practically reverberating with excitement. Will we talk to her? Suzume asked. She is interesting, Ayame said, exchanging a glance with her sister. Suzume reached towards the crown of her head, blindly reaching for a pale, white mushroom. Her fingers found one, plucked it, and then extended it towards the newcomer. Neither girl had been given details about ParaSyte, so did not understand that she would not need a mushroom to join their hivemind. So perhaps… this could be considered a peace offering? A willingness to work with her. The tendrils around the base of the mushroom that flailed in search of a place to root, like the flailing of an insects’ legs. | 388 words ooc notes: friend? friend. |

Byeol-Su leaned in a little to read the writing on the notepad. Her already tentative grasp of Japanese made reading a little harder than speaking, but she kind of understood what the words meant and the sounds they were meant to make. The last word, however, was one she had read before in a certain secret chat room. She didn't know how to pronounce it but she still recognized it. Her mouth turned into a wide 'O' and she looked back up at Ayame and Suzume, bouncing a little on her toes. "Oh! Oh! I know you! Was wondering when I would meet you! You are so green! Like a garden!" She let out a small squeal of excitement. "Am so glad to meet my friends!"
The yakuza said something else that Byeol-Su paid minimal attention to, but otherwise she couldn't take her attention off the Cordycep twins. Had they mentioned what their Quirk did in the channel before? Oooh, why did she forget these things? They were important! But they ate people, she knew, and sometimes they killed people. Were they related to Thunder, or were they just working for him? She had a lot of questions, but didn't want to scare them. As the yakuza left she turned again just to stick her tongue out.
"He was mean. You do not get placed with mean people like him a lot, do you? I would go crazy." She returned her attention to the twins. "Am glad it is just us three. So...were you told what I am here to do? Or can do?"
Before she got an answer, Suzume--that was Suzume, right?--had pulled from her hair a small white fungus with wiggling roots. Byeol-Su blinked at it. It was so wiggly, like it was alive. What did she do with it? "Um, I do not eat it, do I? Do I..." She looked to where Suzume had plucked the fungus from atop her head, and took the little mushroom between her fingers as carefully as possible. She held it up to the top of her head in the same sort of spot they were on the twin's own. Although the roots could wiggle into her clay, they didn't stay rooted. She was too solid there. Hmm.

OPERATION: SCHOOL GIRL WITH THE FAINT BREEZE THAT STIRRED their pollen in the air, they only got snatches of the other girl’s thoughts here-and-there. Like single-word snapshots. One glimmer of the girl’s silent voice that they did hear, however, was that she recognized them. The two straightened marginally at that. This was confirmed by her outburst. At the very least, she seemed happy to see them, and so they mirrored that sentiment, cracking grins behind their surgical masks.
And then came the questions. This earned shaking heads in stereo, and a dismissive hand wave from Ayame. They did not work with men like him very often, no. And had they been told what she did? Also no. Or maybe they had, but the twins paid very little attention to those that did not interest them. Suzume waved a hand, grabbing at the mushroom rather impolitely, perhaps with the intention of demonstrating, when the girl before them tried to devise ways to explain her “quirk”.
That’s what people called gifts. “Quirks.”
The telepathic explanation came in snatches, thanks to the wind—cut, I go inside, heal. The twins exchanged glances.
Go inside where, Suzume mused? There were no buildings nearby.
In the cut, Ayame hazarded? Only one way to find out. Ayame leaned forward and reached behind her, into her waistband, procuring a box cutter from her waistband. It wasn’t as robust as her usual weapons of choice, but she refused to go out unarmed. She clicked the blade up a few notches, surveying it to make sure it was clean.
Without wincing, without a glimmer of pain, she dragged the blade over her palm, near the thumb. Blood welled up around the gash. Ayame extended the sliced hand towards the other girl, blood trickling towards her fingers. Looking thoroughly nonplussed, the teen licked the flat sides of the box cutter, cleaning it of blood, before retracting the blade and placing it back in the band of her skirt.

"Good, you do know. That makes this easier!" Byeol-Su giggled, not even blinking at the sight of another person, let alone another young girl, pulling out a blade and slicing the skin of her hand open. It would heal in a second. She extended her own hand and placed a finger against the bloody cut. The familiar pull of another's body was the same as it always was. So even with how the twins looked--that being so plant-like in appearance--they were still flesh and blood. That was cool! She closed her eyes and her self go.
Without more warning than that, she began to melt at a rapid pace. Every feature of her--her face, her clothes, her color--all melded into gray matter akin to wet clay, and, like it were being suctioned into a vacuum, was all going into the incision on Ayame's hand. A cold feeling would spread from the place she entered throughout her host, like Ayame's internal organs were coated in the cold substance that was Byeol-Su's flesh. It was almost nauseating. But then a second passed, and the feeling was gone again.
Byeol-Su had to get adjusted to her new host before she could make a proper mouth to communicate. What a weird body this one was. She could feel things growing from her, like extra digits, but not quite the same, in their hair. Was that the feeling of having the mushrooms growing in their skin...? And their mouth! Their mouth! She could feel the difference in their teeth, the sharpness and strength of their jaws. Those fangs reminded her less of being hosted by a human and more of the tests she'd done with animals.
That is so cool!
Beats of excitement, joy, happiness, delight went over the bond between them, loud and clear enough to be felt, but somehow distant and distinct enough to be known as another person's emotions. Another mind in hers.
But if anyone would be familiar with such a thing, it would be Cordycep.

OPERATION: SCHOOL GIRL NEITHER TWIN HAD BEEN PREPARED for what happened next-- one moment, a rather goopy girl was standing before them, extending her hand towards Ayame-- and the next, she was seeping in through the cut, until she was totally gone. Almost like she had been spirited away. Far from it, though, because the cold was slithering up Ayame’s arm.
Ayame’s face contorted as she grit her needle-like teeth, squinting her eyes shut.
Okay? Okay? Suzume demanded, grabbing at her sister’s arm.
Cold, Ayame insisted. Like mud. It- she-
Something was flaring at the back of Ayame’s mind. A feeling that wasn’t quite her own. The girls had dealt plenty with concrete thoughts from sources other than their own heads, but emotions-- that was something entirely alien. Ayame opened her eyes. It was like a thrum of warmth, of giddiness, like how the twins felt after successfully taking down a mark. But it wasn’t from Ayame, and it wasn’t from Suzume. Ayame smiled.
Parasyte, Ayame said, a note of breathless excitement in her telepathic voice.
What? Where? Suzume’s voice would interrupt.
Ayame reached beneath her vine-y hair, brushing a hand along the nape of her own neck. Here, I think. Hello, Parasyte.
Hello, Parasyte. Suzume chimed.
Ayame let her hand fall, surveying the palm. It was already beginning to seal itself, the skin joining steadily together as if it were two pieces of fabric being stitched together by a thread. Ayame lowered the mask from over her nose and mouth so that she could lap at the drying blood on her palm.
Her heart was hammering. Fear? No. A warmth had crept into her cheeks. Excitement, maybe. Anticipation.
If you are Parasyte, Suzume trailed, rising from her seat on the bench, Can we still hear Parasyte?
Ayame also rose and Suzume put her arm through Ayame's. Their gazes slid towards Thunder's flunky. He was within range of the twins, so they were privy to his stream of consciousness-- most thoughts were about errands he needed to run, a few begrudging the teens he had to babysit who were preventing that.
His voice was little more than a murmur.
The twins bowed to him, quickly, then wordlessly made their leave across the park. As they put distance between themselves and the man, the twins' spores caught on the wind, and his mental voice flickered out of existence.
Parasyte, Ayame tried again, replacing her surgical mask, try thinking something.

She was used to hearing the voice of her host in her--their--ears during the process, it was only natural. Voices sounded different in ones own head than it did to people listening. What Byeol-Su had never, ever heard before was somebody speaking...inside her head. As she could not blink her own eyes and could react in any physical manner, the only hint of her shock was, well, the feeling of it that scattered over the bond like sparks of flame.
She could hear voices. No, rather, she was able to think them? No, not...
Hello? HELLO?!
There was no way to explain it. Byeol-Su could hear not only her thoughts, but the thoughts of Ayame and Suzume as well, clear as voices spoken into her ears. And yet it was not heard. It simply just...was. The surprise slowly shifted into excitement. A little confusion, sure, but mostly pure excitement.
I can hear you! Ayame! Suzume! I can hear you!!
Byeol-Su had never tried to think a laugh, but she tried. It "sounded" weird in her head. Too stiff, too robotic, not at all like her real giggles. So she just let her joy slip through the bond in its place...sort of a metaphorical laughter.
Can you hear me? How do you do this?? What language are we speaking--err, thinking?? I'm not thinking in Japanese, I don't think?? Whaaaaat???

OPERATION: SCHOOL GIRL THE TWINS WERE ACCUSTOMED TO hearing each other’s voices in the back of their mind—the constant stream of verbal back-and-forth that were sometimes so fluid that one consciousness was indistinguishable from the next. Emotions were something new, though. In the back of Ayame’s mind, Parasyte’s surprise sparked when she heard the twins. And Suzume heard it. The twins exchanged pointed smiles.
She ‘spoke’ back, her mind whirling with excitement and confusion and questions. The twins began to walk across the park.
Hello, Suzume greeted back.
Your gift is beautiful, Ayame chimed-in. The gash on Ayame’s palm had healed, the teen noticed as she tilted her hand this way and that. Her heart skipped with delight. It was difficult to not get wrapped-up in the excitement when your passenger (for lack of a better word) was also excited.
We can hear you, Suzume confirmed. Ayame reached for the crown of her head, fingers clasping around the stem of a mushroom. She freed it as one might free skin from a callous, with little discomfort or pain. Ayame held the mushroom in front of her. Tendrils from the base of it flailed in search of a place to take root.
Watch this, Ayame said, by means of an answer. She pinched the mushroom between thumb and forefinger and spun it, spores dislodging themselves from the top in a fine mist.
When we breathe the dust, we can hear each other, Ayame explained.
We can hear anyone who breathes the dust, Suzume chimed-in.
We think that this is why Thunder asks us to find the girl in the picture, Ayame said, because we can listen to her and learn things.
The question from Byeol-Su only prompted confusion. Ayame’s expression scrunched with uncertainty. Suzume mumbled an uncertain “hm” aloud.
Maybe we hear beyond language, beyond Japanese? Ayame proposed, We don’t know other language, other Japanese.
We are from the trees, Suzume added-on, remembering an oft-used excuse, Zugai calls it the forest. So there is much we do not know.
As they spoke, the pair of green-skinned twins meandered across the park, towards the school wherein they would find their mark and follow her.

This was amazing! This was so cool! Byeol-Su was talking to people--to her host--in their heads! If only she could do this with every host it would save so much trouble trying to whisper around one another, but...this was so awesome right now she didn't dwell too long on that. And Ayame was so sweet calling her gift "beautiful". Embarrassment mingled with her joy for a moment. She'd gotten compliments before, sure, but "beautiful" was...wow. If she knew the downsides of it she probably wouldn't think that way but for now, Byeol-Su took the word and held it close and didn't let it be tarnished.
She could only see from Ayame's eyes, so she had no real control over their size, but she still watched with metaphorical wide-eyed awe at the odd little spores that came up from the mushroom. It, too, was a parasite! It went into a person and allowed the twins to hear their thoughts?! That was so cool and so strange and oh wow it was going to get crowded in here when they went into the school, wasn't it. Hopefully they had good control over how many voices they got at once. Byeol-Su wondered, briefly, if she could get a headache while in here--or feel Ayame's if she got one, too.
That's so sneaky...in a good way! In a good way! And means we don't need to talk to her, just get close enough to hear her thoughts. How far from somebody do we need to be? We should find her and stay close, but a teacher might be trouble if they see us...if you can be far away, maybe we can hide in a close closet, or on the roof? There was a pause in her ramble of thoughts. People on television hang out on school roofs all the time.
Zugai? Who was that? And they didn't know very much. It was funny to think that she'd be their "senpai"--was that the right word?--for some things. But also good that they could hear her thoughts. She could help them with nobody noticing she was there! It was so perfect! But the twins couldn't talk, so...hm, were there people who couldn't talk in the world? There had to be. So then they could say they were that. Hadn't he told her once...?
Eumsogeo...mute? Mute. That sounded like the right word. Yeah. If they got caught they could say they were that. But they'd need to be caught first.
I didn't look very hard at the picture. What does she look like again?

OPERATION: SCHOOL GIRL THE TWINS SMILED AT ONE ANOTHER as Ayame's passenger praised their quirk. Yes, it did have its uses, didn't it? They began to talk logistics of the operation-- where they could hide, or if they could hide, and the likes. They stood on the opposite side of the street from the school, squinting at the front gate. Girls were freely walking in and out, some carrying lunch, all chattering among their small groups. Good, they had some time to spare.
Need to be close, Ayame said, Same room. Or else the dust will get blown away in the wind.
By "dust", she meant the spores.
The closer the better, Suzume added.
They crossed the street, Suzume linking her arm with Ayame's as they went. As they drew closer to the gate, more and more of their "classmate's" mental voices came into focus. Unintelligible at first, then murmurs. Those who came close enough to the girls, their voices would reach a more conversational volume. It was like walking into a train station or a busy banquet hall.
-does he even see in her? She's a total b-
-houldn't have eaten that curry-
-those girls are green-
-could still study for that English test-
And so the downside of their passive abilities was brought into sharp focus for the unsuspecting passenger. Anyone within range was audible. The twins banked left, out of the flow of foot traffic making its way towards a tree at the edge of the yard, where they could create a game plan. All the thoughts of the fellow students faded into nothing once again.
Zugai is the one who watches us, Suzume explained. Ayame procured the picture from her pocket, holding it up to survey it. Their target's prim face, clearly clipped from an ID card, scowled back.
We have her schedule too, Ayame explained, letting her gaze linger upon the picture for as long as Byeol-Su needed.

Ah, so if they needed to be close and had to mind the wind, then the roof would be a bad place to hide. They probably couldn't stay in a closet either if they needed the spores to be touching people to work--it would just fill up the closet with them. Right? So then their best odds was finding her and just tailing as close as they could through the day. If they had her schedule it would be easy. They just had to--
Whoa that was a lot of voices all at once. Byeol-Su could feel irritation beat through the bond to Ayame. She was no stranger to being in a crowd--so long as she had a host, most of the time--but it was like they were all talking right into their--her--Ayame's ears. That was awful. If she had a Quirk like that it would drive her crazy. But the twins seemed hardly bothered by it.
At least, on the outside. She couldn't feel their emotions. Just hers.
Oh, so Zugai is like my friend. Do they work for Thunder? Or maybe that was their name for Thunder, like how she had to call him "friend". Or the other names he went by when they were working, that she had trouble with.
Once they were far enough away from the other students and comfortably out of focus in the courtyard, they produced a picture of the girl as well as said they had her schedule. Perfect perfect! She looked through Ayame's eyes at the girl with a trace of amusement. She looks so angry. She's the daughter of another group of criminals? She definitely looks like it to me.
It is too late in the day to catch her in class. It's lunchtime. There will be a lot of people in the cafeteria but... Byeol-Su stared at the picture some more, She looks like the type who eats alone. Maybe we can find her in her homeroom, or hiding by a stairwell? Or behind the school? That is where delinquent kids hang out on television. If we don't find her we can wait near the homeroom door to catch her on the way in...but we have to be careful not to be seen by too many teachers. They'll ask us which class we are in, and we will get caught if we lie too much. How far can your spores go?

OPERATION: SCHOOL GIRL THE TWINS SMILED LEANED AGAINST THE TREE TOGETHER, gazing at the picture long enough.
Zugai is Zugai, Ayame explained. He works for Thunder, but they are not friends.
He has not said this to us, though, Suzume whispered conspiratorially, We heard Zugai say it with his inside voice.
In other words, they were telling Byeol-Su a secret. Byeol-Su mused about the places where the twins could potentially find her mark, judging by the shrewdness of the girl’s face. She really did look like a criminal, if her sharp eyes were anything to go by. Even if Byeol-Su’s intel was gleaned from watching television, she still knew far more than the twins did.
We will start there, then, Ayame said decisively, pocketing the photo in the suit coat’s pocket. Suzume procured a schedule from her pocket, and passed it to Ayame. Ayame held it before her own eyes.
Do you read, Ayame asked? Implying that neither of them did.
We’re learning, Suzume avowed. But we don’t know the symbols with lots of lines yet.
In other words, they were starting with hiragana and katakana, before working their way up to kanji.
The twins rose from the tree, and began to walk across the sparsely-populated schoolyard. Some girls had laid-out blankets in the grass, and were still eating meals. Their words, and thoughts, were unintelligible at this distance. The two casually cut across the field, diagonally returning to the main building of the school, towards the back entrance.
Their mark’s name had helpfully been omitted from their schedule. So, to the unsuspecting eye, it could have been mistaken as the twin’s schedule. Unfamiliar transfers, milling about the halls? Unsure of where their homeroom was, perhaps?

Byeol-Su felt amusement pulse through the bond, like a replacement for the laugh she wanted to speak but couldn't. Thinking a laugh was weird. But the thought of Ayame and Suzume hearing their friend's thoughts about Thunder just made her want to laugh so hard--they must hear so much fun stuff between people. Little lies they hid from others that they could hear if they so chose. When she was being hosted she had no such means of knowing what her host was thinking. If she did things would be a lot easier. But at the same time, she wasn't sure she wanted to know their thoughts...
He was scary, sometimes. She could do without knowing why.
I don't think Thunder has many friends, to be totally fair. Byeol-Su scanned over the schedule with Ayame's eyes. Their next question left her a little dumbfounded. You don't? Well, no, that was why they were asking her. Byeol-Su let a pulse of sudden sheepishness go through the bond. I guess I've been learning to read Japanese better--that's the name of the language here, though I think I've only got one of the alphabets perfectly. The other two I'm okay with. But I can only use the phone to type--I can't hold a pen with my hands the way they are well enough to write, which is annoying.
While they walked, Byeol-Su would think the names of rooms they passed under, reading them for the twins since she was not sure they couldn't do it themselves. She went until the numbers and letters lined up with the ones on the schedule. Here, she spoke quickly, This is the room she'd be in if she was eating in here. One of us should look inside for her. Excitement, anticipation, eager, but also...nervous. If they found her right away, then the fun would be over before it even really started. She didn't want that at all.

OPERATION: SCHOOL GIRL THE TWINS WERE BASHFULLY UNCOMMUNIATIVE when Byeol-Su reacted to their illiteracy with surprise. They'd never had any need for reading when they were living on their own in the woods. Anything they could have read went in the fire-- or wasn't necessary to their survival, for that matter.
Besides which, there was plenty that the twins could do that most people couldn't. Not that most people would benefit from the kind of skills the twins had.
We can read some words, was all Suzume said, her telepathic voice sounding a touch prim. Ayame was patient, and perhaps a bit embarrassed, but there was a sort of waspishness to Suzume. She'd always been the more emotional of the two.
Zugai makes us write, Ayame mentioned conversationally, redirecting the conversation from Suzume's sore spot, He does not like our mushrooms very much.
The two entered through the back door, earning sidelong looks for some of the wandering students. Thoughts thrummed aggressively at the edges of their psyche, evening-out to a sort of drone of noise. Ayame gritted her teeth. Suzume gawked.
Ayame glanced at the symbols on the schedule, then at the signs above the doors. She saw some similarities... patterns... they didn't mean anything to her, but the shapes of the letters were the same in parts, but different in others.
Something snagged Byeol-Su's attention, bringing the twins to a grinding halt. Here? The two looked around the hallway, then to the open door to their right.
We'll do it, Ayame insisted. Not "I"-- but "we". She adopted to having a psychic passenger rather quickly. She stepped past Suzume, and poked her head through the doorway. Her eyes flitted over the studets in the room, taking-in their faces. No... no... no...
"Oi, green bean, can we help you?" a hoarse voice near the door greeted. Ayame's attention was snagged. A boy with a shaved head lumpy skull was addressing her, and he had something shiny in one earlobe.
In his commpany was a weasel-faced boy, a fat girl, and--
Her.
The one they were looking for.
Ayame squinted, and waved a dismissive hand in front of her face, and slipped back into the hall. Though externally she seemed calm, her chest fluttered with nervous excitement.
That was her, she thought eagerly, but... how will we hide with all those people in there? They'll see us hide...
The twins looked through the doorway without poking their heads in. There was a single door in and out of the classroom. Perhaps... they looked up and down the hallway... some garbage cans... stairs to the next floor, other doors to other rooms. Things got so unpredictable once their mark left the classroom.
