I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings It was the end of what it seemed to have been a really long a day.
Against all odds, the first ever day of classes at Yuuei - the first hero school in the entire world - was a pretty normal one. Mostly introductions, guidelines about the rules of the school, explanations about how the first year was planned to be and a tour of the facilities. If it wasn't for some students not being afraid of showing their mutations and others not hesitating on revealing their Quirk, one could easily think that it was a completely regular highschool.
In such a common day, the highlight surely was the beginning of it. At the gates, in front of everybody passing by, Ryuusei had fell flat on the ground, only to be helped up by a tiny cute girl and offered some chocolate by a fiery looking boy. It was something that would haunt him for the rest of the day and, on Ryuu's mind, something that everyone would remember for the entire year. During the tour around the school, murmurings more than familiar to him were already happening.
"Hey, wasn't that the kid who fell at the entrance?" "Yeah, I think it was! I saw it, it must've hurt..."
Nothing special compared to the atrocities words he had heared in the past about himself, but it still made Ryuusei sad: only the first day - a supposed new beginning - and history was already repeating itself.
The other thing to point out about the day were his classmates. Both the girl with gorgeous eyes and the energetic kid he had met in the morning were on his class: class 1-A. Besides them, there was also a tanned kid that, ironically, gave off a winter vibe, a beautiful blonde girl and a boy that, for some reason, insisted on activating his body armours. Those were the ones that Ryuu remembered the best. Of course that he didn't talk to any of them, but he also hadn't heard them bad-mouthing, so it was a good start, he thought.
Ryuusei Igarashi was now walking home in the same way he had gone to Yuuei in the morning: slow pace, listening to music and looking completely detached from the rest of the world. His hands were in his trousers' pockets and his bag only being carried by his left shoulder, like always.
From his point of view, the strret was completely empty. He couldn't see anyone from Yuuei going home that way, let alone someone from his class. Maybe it's better this way, he thought. It was weird that no one else walked that path at that hour, but that would mean that every single day he could walk home peacefully. That eased his mind.
His already slow pace fully stopped when, for some reason, the music he was listening to came to an abrupt end. It was weird. That had never happened. Now standing still, he took out his phone from his backpocket to see what was hapening.
Would someone appear out of nowhere?

WORD COUNT: 712 TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy The girl's body was aching from exhaustion. Washing windows, doing obstacle courses, other physical activities. The first few days were apparently going to be a lot of activities rather than studying, probably to weed the weakest of the pack out immediately. Rin knew that was how the police functioned. Several physical tests to make sure that everyone had both the heart and physique to stand as law enforcement. Granted, heroes were not exactly law enforcement on their own, but with the latest legislation it certainly seemed like it could be moving in such a direction. Several notes of importance had been placed within her backpack, while most of the books and literature she had carried to school was currently safely stored in her locker. The most important piece of paper, was one that invited the students to the dorm rooms. Essentially, if the girl accepted this, she would be able to move out and live on her own. It was such a tempting offer. It meant that all the things that had been going on at home would only take place during the occasional weekend when she went home. Enzo hadn't been overly thrilled at having such a useless daughter just locked in her room all day, so maybe he'd be open to the idea...
Pulling out the notice, she was reading all the rules and regulations that came with moving into a dorm room. Most of them were fairly common, such as keeping everything in proper condition, being quiet after a specific time of day, etc. Trodding along the path, her attention was completely directed towards her reading material. Walking slow, steady, others had an easy time simply moving away from her path. The girl was wearing the grey uniform, red tie and white undershirt. The green skirt was being gently toyed with by the wind. In a matching color, she was still wearing the tights. The girl was essentially covered up, revealing practically no skin at all, despite how incredibly warm it was. The ravenblack hair was gathered in a ponytail, hanging loosely down her back. With how physically active they had been all day, having her hair hang loose had proven to be a nuisance almost immediately...
Sighing softly, at home, dad would be busy working. It meant that she was relegated to one of two positions. Either locked in her room, or essentially thrown into the kitchen to prepare them something for dinner. Naturally, Rin wasn't an exceedingly good cook, and Enzo often complained that her cooking didn't compare to her mother's in the slightest, but it was a far better place to be than locked in her room for hours on end. That, and if she wasn't cooking in the kitchen, chances were she'd go to bed hungry. There was a phone-number on the notice for the dorm rooms. A number one could call to get more information. The sapphire blue eyes sharpened. I truly have a chance to move out.. A spark of hope skittered through her body like electricity. For now, it was but a quiet, silent dream. If it somehow worked out, it could change her life!
The excitement caused her to take a quick few steps forwards, when she bumped into someone far larger than herself. To him, it would've likely felt like a soft pillow just waked into his backside. Legs continuing half a step forwards, her eyes shot up to catch his backside, as she ended up sitting on the ground with a soft thud. With her tiny frame, she may aswell have walked into an immoveable object. Hands grasping onto the notice as if her life depended on it, Rin let out a series of soft groans. Quickly, before the other had even properly turned around, she was already apologizing, bowing her head in shame, this being the first thing he would notice if he turned around. "I'm sorry, sumimasen. I wasn't watching where I was going. I'm so sorry. Sorry.." The girl, at this point, still had no clue that the one she had bumped into, was none other than the boy she had offered a hand in the morning...

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings Oh?, he asked in a low voice, almost as if he was talking to himself.
The expression came from abump that he felt on his back. It didn't hurt or made him unbalanced or move at all, but something or someone had definetely collided against him. And that something or someone was definetely light and short.
Calmly taking his earphones off and putting his phone back on his pocket - forgetting about the sound problem that made him stop in the first place - Ryuusei turned back, wanting to see what had happened.
Looking ahead, he saw nothing. Just empty air and empty space. The same street he had just walked on still empty. Did it vanish? Was the bump a dream? He started scratching his mid-long hair with his right hand, only to then realize he was hearing soft groans and a sweet, delicate voice apologizing. He recognized it from somewhere, but couldn't exactly pin-point it. Looking down to where the sound came from, he layed his eyes upon a fragile looking girl, head bowed down with her long black hair hiding her face. At the time he didn't know, but that was the girl from his class, the girl that had helped him on that exact same morning.
Oblivious to that fact, Ryuusei acted like she was a stranger, a regular girl walking on the street. It was easier for him talking to someone that he knew he was never going to see again. Because of this, his voice sounded more normal, despite still having the same uninterested aspect it always had.
Please, don't apologize. I'm the one that should say sorry, I shouldn't stop so abruptly like that.
The boy crouched, being now at around the same level of the girl that was sitting on the ground. Still with her head now, Ryuu couldn't see the eyes that would instantly make him identify her as a 1-A classmate.
Let me help you up, it's the least I can do.
He offered her his hand with the intention of helping her get up. The sun setting behind him highlighted Ryuu from the background, his hair and eyes shining in their light browned color. If it was the middle of the day, they would certainly be as golden as they could be.
Would she take his hand?

WORD COUNT: 581 TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy At first, it seemed like the boy was hardly even aware that another presence had bumped into him. Standing around, not saying a word, he was looking straight over her head into thin air. It made it all feel even more awkward. For a few moments the girl felt invisible, like she wasn't even there. Perhaps such an existance had been for the better. At least, then she wouldn't be a shattering disappointment to everyone that she came into contact with. The boy towered over her, his shadow covering the entirety of her frame from the sun. Beginning an apology, she'd very quickly correct him. This had been entirely her fault. People were allowed to stop. Absent mindedness was what had caused this. "N-no, it was m-me that w-walked straight into you. I w-wasn't paying attention." It was at this point, as the boy knelt down towards her, that the girl also rose her head upwards to meet his gaze. A short shock went through her system. Of course this embarassing situation had to be taking place in the presence of a classmate! Even worse so, it was the boy that had been so awkward in the morning, the boy that she had offered to help to his feet! For a moment the girl just stared at him, as a thousand thoughts went on display through her mind. They were in the same class, she knew that much, though during the day they hadn't been assigned any activities together. It meant that, in all likelyhood, in one of the coming days, they'd be doing some activity together. It made these poor first impressions even more unbearable!
Quickly, in an almost panicked fashion, the girl got herself halfway up standing, quickly rattling off the first things that came to mind, so as to not make the situation any more awkward. "N-no, it's.. it's fine. I don't w-want to be an i-invconvenience." However, since he was so incredibly close, when she was halfway up standing, the lack of space in front of her, caused her to, in the most pathetic fashion, drop straight back down onto her rear. Grasping at his hand, as a pure reflex when she became aware that she was falling, if his weight was bent over too far she could very likely pull him down straight on top of her. If his weight was distributed properly, she'd use his gesture to get back onto her feet. If the girl had been capable of blushing, her face would've been beyond red, possibly purple at this point. Fortunately, the girl's quirk assisted her in keeping a relatively pale complexion...
Today had been one of the worst days in a long time. As terrible as elementary school had been for her, at the very least, she had eventually managed to blend in without needing to deal with awkward embarassing situations on a daily basis. Now that highschool was starting, it sure seemed like the process of being a useless disappointment had restarted all over again. Still waiting for her at home, was the daily encounter with Enzo, which could make everything ten-times worse than they were already. The girl wanted to cry at her own hopelessness, but instead, just tried to hide all of the emotion behind a soft, gentle smile...

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings He was crouching in front of the girl in a rather unstable position. Both of his heels were off the ground, making his entire weight supported only by the front palm of his feet.
"N-no, it was m-me that w-walked straight into you. I w-wasn't paying attention."
That voice. He was sure that he had heard it before. And that he had listened to it quite recently. It was soft, definetely the sound of a girl who was around Ryuu's own age. That made the young boy's mind even more confused: afterall, he didn't talk that much to anyone, much less with girls. He thought that he could've just be confused, associating that voice with one of the numerous people that talked badly about him in his previous school. Yeah, that must be it.
Even so, he insisted on not letting the girl blame herself. He began talking again, his hand already extended after offering help.
It really was my fault. I hope you're not hur-
Right before he could finish talking, the girl looked at him. Those blue eyes... The girl from this morning?!
There was no doubt about it - that little and thin girl was the one who had helped him in the morning; another Yuuei student and, even more than that, Ryuu's 1-A classmate. How didn't he notice her school uniform?! He tilted his head a bit to the side at the same time the girl looked at him straight in the eyes, confusion on his face. It was definetely more awkward than before, but at least now Ryuu could retribute what the girl did earlier: she chose to help him instead of laughing and, even if he wasn't able to demonstrate it earlier, he was grateful for that.
Breaking the moment, the girl got up in a panicked fashion - so much that she almost hit Ryuu's head. To avoid it, she threw herself behind, losing balance in the process and starting to fall once again. Before realizing it, his hand was being pushed. In a normal situation, the girl wouldn't have enough strenght to pull the honey-eyed boy with her, but since he wasn't in the most stable of positions...
She was now laying on the floor, her belly facing the sky. As for Ryuu, he was laying on top of her... Well, not completly. He made a quick effort in order to not hurt his classmate and used his arms as support. With his hands right by the side of each of the girl's ears (but avoiding her hair) and his knees between both of her legs, their bodies weren't touching because of Ryuusei's instinct. But they were too close, way too close: his chest almost touching hers, his nose dangerously close too her face. Thankfully, at that time, the street was completly empty...
That scene, however, was a very brief one. It lasted only for the time that it took Ryuu to, in that position, lock eyes with the girl...
M-M-Moushiawake arimasen!, he said, his distant voice this time clearly different in tone, having a more embarassed feel to it.
As he said that, he instantly balanced himself back up, quickly standing back on his own too feet. Even Ryuusei Igarashi - to whom the world didn't matter that much - found himself turning slightly red after such an uncommon thing happened. A situation with the same girl of that morning, on the first day of school.
Taken aback, but still trying to stay composed and calm like his usual self, he extended his hand once again to the girl. However, this time, he didn't make the mistake of crouching. Instead, he just leaned a little bit, in order to make it easier for her to grab his hand if she decided to.
Hum, m-my name is Ryuusei, Igarashi Ryuusei. I-I'm sorry for that, let me help you.
He tried to keep his mind of what just happened, introducing himself trying not to give importance to the incident. If the girl would be able to do the same was a different question.

WORD COUNT: 661 TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy The backwards momentum began almost immediately, and when it did, the world went into a slowmotion. The girl could see how his center of gravity slowly tipped over the point where he could remain standing. The sapphire blue eyes widened, as she herself slowly fell towards the ground. The boy was going to fall straight on top of her. With his heavy frame, it was going to definitely hurt. Males were terrifying in every sense of the word. The girl's arms immediately covered her torso and face, curling her own frame together as much as possible, essentially causing her already tiny frame to become even smaller. Bracing for impact, her eyes were closed, as her back touched against the ground with a thud. A soft, pained groan left her lips. Ryuusei couldn't sense any fear from the girl. Instead, she had clearly already accepted that there would be pain, bracing her body to take it head on. Instead, no such thing ever came. The girl could hear the thud of him impacting onto the ground with his hands, they were on either side of her head. The girl could feel his breath against her skin, feel his cloth against her own, but he wasn't touching her. Splitting her fingers, she opened a single eye to look up at him through the gap between her fingers. Somehow, the behemoth had stopped the momentum of his own body, narrowly preventing squishing her against the sidewalk. His arms were shaking, he had truly put in some effort
Breathing quickly, her heart was hammering away in her chest. Still bracing herself, her arms were held defensively in front of her body, shielding her away from him. His knees were resting on her skirt against the ground. The girl's inner thigh had received a knee in the fall, but she had somehow managed to adjust it to the side. If Rin had been even a few fragments later, she wouldn't have gotten away with just a bruise. It would've really, truly hurt. There was clear panic in the girl's eyes, but it was slowly subsiding as she became more and more aware that there was going to be no further pain. Still, her breathing made it extraordinarily clear that he ought to get off of her immediately. Which he, fortunately for her sanity, decided to do completely on his own without needing any additional prompt.
..Lying there on the ground, staring up at him, the girl was in complete shock. When he began apologizing, she would've apologized in kind, but the shock had her just kinda lying there, before she slowly leaned forward to sit up. The girl's breathing was steadying. As he extended his hand once more, she decided to just take hold of it immediately, rather than having a repeat of the same awkward situation as before. On her feet, the girl quickly began brushing herself off, taking a few steps backwards so as not to be too close to him. Once she was up standing, Rin seemed to recover her state of mind. Rather than being panicked, she returned to being fidgety. The girl immediately bowed before him, giving him a formal apology. "Moushiwake gozaimasen deshita!"...
Once their apologies were done, and the introduction that Ryuusei had given as he was helping her to her feet, Rin decided to introduce herself as well. "M-my name is Kurama, Rin... I uhm, b-believe we're studying in the same class, at Yuuei? 1-A?" Adding the at Yuuei seemed almost preposterous, considering they were wearing the same school uniform. Well, one edition for the boys and one for the girls, but nevertheless! Immediately, as if silence and doing nothing was one of her worst enemies, the girl began adjusting her hair, which had gotten completely messed up from the fall. Rin was a nervous and sheltered type. It very clearly showed.

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings The girl was rather quick to grab his hand this time, not hesitating in accepting Ryuu's help to get up.
She was now standing in front of him, but making sure that she was in at a safe distance. Ryuu understood those small steps that the girl took in order to avoid being too close. The previous moment had been the closest that he had been to a girl and that was probably her case with boys aswell - at least it was what it appeared from her heavy breathing and shocked expression from earlier. However, she seemed to not blush at all, her skin remaing as pale as snow. Ryuusei took note of that, but didn't said anything, not giving it importance. To her formal bowing, the boy slightly waved both of his hands, the meaning of such movement being clear by his words.
Please, there's no need for that.
There was still a little of a weird vibe floating in the air of that deserted street. The sun was almost disappearing, giving place to the moon, and they were the only ones there. Now more calm and not red, Ryuu could only think about how glad he was that there was nobody there to see what happened or how bad it would've been if that fall had took place inside of Yuuei's gates. Two situations in one day... That would've definetely marked the young boy for the rest of the year.
Responding to Ryuu's previous words, the girl also introduced herself, asking a question at the same time.
It's a pleasure to meet you, Rin-san - he nodded his head a little - And yes, I'm also from class 1-A. I guess we'll be seing each other a lot, his voice was the same as always, but he tried to put a little smile at the end of his sentence.
Ryuusei put both of his hands on his pockets and looked up. It was getting late. Looking once again at the girl, he talked.
I'm guessing that we take the same path home. Do you want to walk together?
He wasn't the talkative type or one that really enjoyed being with other people, but in such a situation there wasn't much more that he could do. It was a one-way street with no corners for some distance, so they both had to walk the same path, at least for some time. Even more, after what took place and them being classmates, there was no point in avoiding her. However, if Ryuu showed is lack of social interactions by being distant and appearing, in some way, cold, Rin showed that in her nervous state and speech. Could it be that she also wasn't one to talk much with others?
Even if that was the case, right at that moment they both didn't had much of a choice: it was either walking home together and trying to make conversation or walking the same way in silence, maintaining distance in a awkward way.

WORD COUNT: 661 TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Now properly back on her feet, properly brushed off, most of her composure regained, the girl's sapphire blue eyes glanced aorund quickly. Strange for the suburbs to be this deserted so early in the day. However, the fact that the divines above had granted her a free passage from the awkward situation few moments prior was a welcome surprise. Ryuusei was essentially requesting that the girl gave him no formal apology, despite the fact that he, himself, had only just given a super formal apology. It sat strange with her. It was like a strange contradiction to do something yourself, yet disallow others from doing it. Sighing softly, he was a strange one. No, boys were strange creatures generally, it wasn't something unique to Ryuusei. Simply nodding, acknowledging that they wouldn't have to keep hanging onto the awkward atmosphere, it slowly dispersed. At least, somewhat.
When he confirmed that they were in fact in the same class, the girl mentally facepalmed. Of course, of all the awkward things that could happen. First, in the morning where she had attempted to help him recover from falling over. Now, in the afternoon as they had bumped into each other. It would've been so much easier to deal with, if he was just a nother random stranger. Instead, it had to be something that lingered. "Mm.. For the next three years, if we're both fortunate enough to pass all our exams till then." It was a strange sentence from Rin. It held enough hope and positivity that it was clear that her goal was to reach the end of her education to become a heroine. Yet, it held enough pessimism that it was clear that she had her doubts in getting that far. Rin hadn't even realized the negativity in the sentence or her voice, the girl was simply so used to failing that it had become an integrated part of how she communicated.
The girl noticed how he placed his hands into his pockets. It was a strange gesture to her, something that threw her off completely. Moments ago, the boy had been borderline fidgety, apologetic, even somewhat flustered perhaps. Now, it seemed like he was calmed down and relaxed, all in the matter of seconds. It had the strange effect of duplicating itself to her. Heart rate was lowering constantly, her breath was slowly finding a passive and normal rhythm. Shoulders loosening, the tenseness in her body disappearing.. No longer feeling any threat from him, she was more at ease. "I live a little further down, by the end of the marketplace. There's not much further from here, but if you'd like to walk, sure..." It was a strange request. A request that the girl most certainly hadn't had before. In elementary, where not all the children had quirks, with the incidents surrounding her own quirk, it hadn't been a time where bonding had been a subject at all. So walking home alone had been the norm. Allowing someone else into even this slight a part of her daily routine was strange...
"..Where about do you live, Ryuusei-san?" Rin asked with mild interest, as, with gentle steps, she began walking towards her destination. First day, and already she felt it neccesary to launder her school uniform. Perhaps it would be possible to have at least a couple of sets, so that laundry could happen a bit less frequently.. Peeking over at Ryuusei, she walked slow enough that he could catch up and keep pace..

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings I'm sure we'll pass - he paused, quickly correcting himself afterwards - Well, I hope you do. In my case I don't think I'll be able to do much in the practical stuff.
It was something that had already crossed his mind during the day, when he saw everyone exposing their Quirks, all of them somewhat useful in an exam or exercise drill scenario. But what was Ryuu going to do? In a direct confrontation he couldn't even dream of winning or saving someone; in a rescue situation he was way better as a support to another person... and even then he couldn't do much; he wasn't quick or strong; he was smart, but didn't think that he could translate such thing to a practical exercise. He didn't know about Rin but, at that time, Ryuusei was sure that he would most likely fail all of Yuuei's practical exams.
It was after responding to her and looking up that Ryuu asked the girl if they should walk together. Rin's response was a positive one. Well, not really. More of a "yeah, there's nothing that I can really do about it, so let's go". The sentiment was shared by Ryuu himself, so it didn't bother him that much. Maybe the girl was like him and didn't feel at ease around other people. If that was the case, they would have to endure: the market was close, but they would still have to alk together for some minutes.
Taking her first steps, Ryuusei was quick to follow, walking side by side with girl. The height diference made for a funny view if someone was following them. He walked with his hands still on his pockets, looking ahead. Calm, relaxed, at peace. He would rather be alone, but the girl had showed to not be like the people from his previous school - at least, it appeared so. Even with that in mind, it was difficult for Ryuusei to trust people. So, when asked about his home...
My house is also beyond the market, but it's stil a little far from it - he said - So, it's probably after your house too, he finished.
He wasn't lying, but rather hiding the fact the he lived in more of a mansion rather than a "house". There was no point in telling her that, especially because it wasn't something that he liked to brag about. At his previous school, most people only knew about his wealth after what happened to Yaso appeared on the newspapers. After that, being followed home while getting insulted was common. Afterall, "a guy like him didn't deserve a house like that".
It took a few seconds to come up with something to ask - making conversation was something that he almost never had to do. Asking "What's your Quirk" seemed like too much of an offensive question, as if he was asking the girl what her weight was. So, being that they were both at the first Hero School in the world, he decided to ask the second thing that made the most sense on his mind. However, if Rin was going to respond was a question by itself.
Well Rin-san, why did you enroll at Yuuei?

WORD COUNT: 712 TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy The girl rose a brow, looking at Ryuusei sideways. Exactly what was those words supposed to mean? Was the boy saying that, despite his larger frame, not knowing of the girl's miserable quirk, he believed she'd have a greater chance at getting through physical exams than he would? Scoffing, the girl shook her head from side to side. "Right.. I cannot tell if you're joking with me or being serious." Continuing to eye him, the fact that he was being serious about it had the girl chuckling sarcastically. "If you honestly think I have an advantage in practical exams, well.. you couldn't be more wrong.. I fully expect to flunk the practical exams..." It frustrated her ever so slightly, because the girl knew, that almost irregardless of what the boy's quirk was, the fact that he was a male, with so much more height and weight behind him, he already had all the advantages. That was almost as upsetting as his complete lack of self confidence. With the body he had been gifted, Rin felt that he had no right to complain. Compared to her own tiny frame, lack of physical strength, Ryuusei may as well have been a greek legend.
Continuing to walk forwards slowly, his reply in regards to the housing situation came. Scratching the side of her cheek, her mind was racing trying to figure out what the hell was going on. His gestures, the things he was saying, the things he was doing. None of it made any sense to her. He was being somewhat friendly, moving closer, suggesting that they walked together on their way home. Yet, when sharing where he lived, he may as well have said nothing at all. Keeping his distance in every other regard than proximity. It was already unknown territory for the girl. The only time things like these had transpired, was when the guys at elementary had put up bets and dares. I bet you cannot make that crazy girl like you! The sapphire blue eyes were scouting the surrounding area. It appeared deserted, but there were plenty of places to hide. Rin couldn't explain why, but she almost preferred walking home alone. "That was oddly unspecific..." Rin simply said, her tone clearly having changed, her guard being risen ever so slightly. Almost as if she was expecting something terrible to happen. It wasn't a tone requesting him to share more, rather stating what she thought of his answer.
However, his followup question wasn't one that she was afraid of answering. It was one of the few occurrences that the girl had had in her life, which she was extremely proud of. Something that, regardless of whether he was poking fun at her or not, she'd not relinquish for anything. The reason she wanted to be a heroine. "..Well, you see... I volunteer my help at the hospital in Tokyo. I donate blood, read stories for the children, generally whatever I am allowed to assist with." Rin started quietly. It was a practice that she had picked up almost a year ago. The girl's doctor had taken a blood sample, mesmerized by her blood-type. Having told her that she could make a difference, it had almost happened on its own. "..There was this boy, I think he was six years old, maybe?.. I'd come by his room a few times, to help him stave off the loneliness." Rin took a moment to ponder it, remembering it clearly in her mind, a soft smile errupting onto her lips. There was a warmth around her, like a gentle embrace. "..He was obsessed with villains and heroes. Constantly talking of what was going on... The dream of being a superhero, I think." Turning her head to look at Ryuusei, the real reason became unveiled. "...He was recovering from leukemia. A few days before he was to go home from the hospital, he said something to me; No matter how cool the other heroes are, you'll always be my hero! I felt immediately like I knew what I wanted to be. A heroine to those in need!... Is that strange?" Rin tilted her head slightly to the side, redirecting the question straight back at Ryuusei.
"What about you, Ryuu-san? Why did you join Yuuei?"

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings They kept on walking slowly throught the empty street. One person or other would ocasionally walk past them, but overall they couldn't see anyone. At that time, most people either had already arrived home or were still working.
The girl seemed to be a little annoyed at his words about not having confidence for the practical exams, putting herself down in his place. Ryuusei decided to give a simple response.
If you don't give up there's always a chance, he said, a hopeful advice hidden in his cold voice.
It was funny. He didn't realize, but he constantly said things that he himself didn't believe or practice. Maybe saying the things he wished to hear from someone was his way of handling his own loneliness and pain. That or the intelligence that he had for some things was just something he didn't haave for others.
To his answer to where he lived, Rin showed her dissatisfaction by her own reply: "That was oddly unspecific...".
Talking to other people really was a weirrd thing. Was his answer really that odd? He just told her that he lived even farther from the market... Yeah, he didn't give other specific point of reference, but that was because of his fear of being judged by his wealth... Should he have that fear? The zone where Rin told him she lived wasn't particularly known for being the best of places to live and she wasn't afraid of being honest. But wouldn't that make her judge him even more if he told her the truth...
O-Oh, I-I'm sorry... It's, hum, near the park, he ended up saying, taking some kind of a leap of faith.
The conversation then shifted to Rin's reason for enrolling at Yuuei Acedemy. It was a simple yet beautiful motivation. An ordinary thing like donating blood as the savior of one's life.
Things like that often made Ryuu wonder about the shifts happening in society and if the titles of "Vigilante" and "Hero", their officialization... Could they be just self-centered terms that gained the media attention? If on the previous years Quirkers were subdues by the Quirkless will, would the opening of Yuuei mark the beginning of a time where the Quirkless were manipulated by the Quirkers?
It wasn't time for such thoughts though. Finished hearing Rin's story of how that little kid saw her as a true hero, he couldn't help but smile a little. A hidden smile.
It's not strange at all. I think it's a pure and good reason for wanting to be a Hero, Rin-san - he paused for a bit though - I actually go to the hospital often, but, hum, I've never seen you there, he decided to reveal, almost unintentionally being that he was just trying to keep up the conversation.
"What about you, Ryuu-san? Why did you join Yuuei?"
That question. The question that he had been debating over the past couple of months, the one that was stuck on his head since that day had started. How was he supposed to respond to something that he himself didn't even know? After hearing Rin's motives, how could he just say "I don't know"? He hesitated a little bit, but eventually opened his mouth. This times, the words were more nervous than distant.
Actually, I really...- he paused - Because of my sister, her name's Yaso. I owe her alot, so this is my way of paying her back, I guess... My parents also did some Vigilante work for some years, so maybe it runs in the family, he added trying to smile for a little bit... Trying to hide what he really felt. Notes: -- Words: 609.

WORD COUNT: 712 TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Quietly walking forwards, when he offered a few words of advice, the girl simply lifted a brow, eyeing him a little suspiciously. It was strange to hear those words coming from him, mere moments after he had spoken of his own ineptitude, lack of confidence in own skills, how he expected to be a failure. Instead of dwelling on it however, the girl simply nodded. Regardless of how ironic the situation was, the advice was true enough. "We never know. Even if we fail at first, as long as we get better every time, we'll succeed eventually." The smile on her lips was a timid one. It still didn't feel to her like he was overly excited for getting to know her. The two of them continued stepping forwards. They were nearing the less impressive part of Musutafu's suburbs, the part where Rin clearly lived. It wasn't much better off than living in the Tokyo slums, but it wasn't a complete mess either. It hadn't ever crossed her mind that he may judge her for living there. To her it was quite clear that no one would choose to live such a place, if they had any option. At elementary, it would've been something she would've been ashamed of. There, individuals were dreaming of becoming business people, successful. Having money meant something. However, to be a heroine, money weren't needed. Only a strong will, good heart, dedication and a desire to help people; All qualities she possessed. This innocent way of looking at things, meant that she didn't think wealth made someone better or worse than someone else. It wasn't important in her world.
They wouldn't have much further to go together, before their ways would part. Brushing the dark locks of hair behind her ear, she turned to look at him again, as he explained a little of where he lived. Rin knew almost immediately. It was the wealthier side of town, by a wide margin... but perhaps unlike what he had thought, it truly didn't matter to her. Here at Yuuei, they were both working towards the same goal. So even if Ryuusei had a bit more (a lot more) pocket money to spend, it wasn't something that'd make her jealous. Rin was the type to be happy for others having a great time. It was common for her to not have much of anything, yet she was never bitter, for at the end of the day, she had what she needed, and that was good enough. For the first time since they had met, a proper smile erupted on her lips. For the first time, it felt like Ryuusei had wanted to share, to work towards being proper friends. It excited her in a strange way.
"Oh, you've got pretty far to walk then... Perhaps you should look into getting a bike. I'd have suggest public transport or driving, but the physical exercise is healthy. A little extra exercise might just make the tests easier. If nothing else, walking gets me fresh for the first daily lessons." Offering him a warm, open smile, the instant that he had chosen to share a little information, he received warmth and kindness in return. There wasn't any judgement, any hesitation, no ulterior motives behind what she said. It truly seemed like the more he attempted to shy away and hide, the less interested she was in talking to him. Yet, the more open he was, the more she felt like he wanted to be there. The simple sensation that he wasn't trying to talk, simply so it wasn't awkward, made the conversation more engaging for her. It truly wasn't something that the girl was super conscious of doing. Simply, she reacted to the flow of the conversation, and for the moment, she seemed quite content. "How long does it take you to get to school? I mean, for me it is at least five to ten minutes. Do you walk to school every day?"

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings Ryuusei and Rinkusu hadn't been walking together for long, but they should've been pretty near the girl's house at that point. They kept a slow pace but steady pace as the moon began appearing, ready to take the sun's place. Ryuu had his hands on his pockets, his shoulders slightly recoiled. A little shell to protect him from exposing too much of himself. At least, it was how he saw it. From the outside, it could've just looked like he really didn't want to be there... Which was half-true. The feeling of being alone on his room reading or playing videogames was a good one, especially when compared to the feeling of interacting with others.
However, by the corner of his eyes, he caught the girl smiling for the first time. It made him happy to have spoken; to had made the choice of walking home with her. It was a pure smiles for him. Still scarred, he tought that such smile could be a fake one and, like many times before, just a deceitful tactic to disappoint the teenage boy in the future. But, at that exact moment, Ryuu didn't care about that possibility that, in his mind, was the most likely one. Instead of drowning himself on such possibilities, he made his best effort to respond normally.
Yeah, I don't really like any other way of transportation besides walking, so a bike wouldn't work that well... - this was the best way he found to tell her that he was afraid of any type of vehicle - It takes around 30 minutes, 20 if I walk fast - he added - I like it though, gives me time to think and take pictures.
By the time the girl said it took her to arrive home from Yuuei, they should be getting close to her house.
Notes: Their first time walking home together should be almost over! Words: 307.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Having somewhat lost herself in their conversation, the girl hadn't noticed exactly how close to her home they were getting, so when suddenly the girl turned slightly to the side to deviate from the path, and the boy continued forwards, it became apparent that their little walk had come to a very drastic end. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything to be done to give them more time to talk together. At home, there was someone waiting for her, duties and responsibilities. Something like taking an extra fifteen minutes to be slow, take pictures, ponder nature. Those had never been an option for the girl. Coming to a complete stop, Rin turned towards Ryuusei. The sapphire blue eyes looking into his.
"Then I suppose you just have to rise early in the morning. It will be a pain for you on school trips though.." Rin responded quietly, tugging at the straps to her backpack. There was a slight moment of hesitation. It was broken only when the girl let out a soft sigh. Despite how little she wanted to return to her father's side, delaying it by any amount of time would only make the experience worse. The girl's shoulders lowered rhythmically with the sigh. "This is where our ways part. My father is waiting for me and I cannot keep him waiting. Have a good trip home, Ryuusei-san. I'll... I'll see you around tomorrow." Raising a single hand into the air, the black haired maiden waved slowly to him, before decisively stepping down the path leading to her home. At school in uniforms, they were all the same. At their homes however, it was very clear that they all had different origins. Rin most certainly didn't come from any luxorious or rich family...
...Nor was a warm greeting waiting for her at home. It would be another afternoon and evening spent hanging out alone in her room. Even before she had opened the door to her home, she already longed to be left back outside. To return to another day at Yuuei, meeting new people, doing things without being shouted at. This education was, despite its hardships and struggles, nothing but a miracle to her. A miracle she'd cling to desperately.

Hiya. This was an enjoyable read! I really loved the fact that both of you stayed very in character, especially when your two sorta/kinda opposing personalities met. Had to deduce a little since it's not a training thread but I do think both of you will be happy with the result!
Ryuusei - 25 EXP
Rin - 35 EXP
Happy threading!
