sometimes you want to go
WHERE EVERYBODY KNOWS YOUR NAME
It had been a long night so far.
Delta gazed into the mirror with her lone amber eye as she straightened the rosy patch that covered the burned strip that was her left eye. Hands brushed her hair out of her face, as she breathed in deeply, exhaled slowly. The bartender straightened up her shoulders, stretched out her four arms, and released what tension and exhaustion had built up.
It had been a long, exhausting, difficult night.
Yet even though her body was starting to droop with tiredness, her enthusiasm becoming more of facade by the moment... Even though this had been far from an easy undertaking, even though Delta felt like she might fall over at a moment's notice...
The four-armed woman couldn't wipe the smile off her face.
Wide, beaming, and colored with all the light and life she'd seen thus far. Performances that ranged from heartfelt to whimsical, a crowd that was so receptive and supportive, people living up to the expectations she'd set. The Fourth Corner, living up to the expectations he'd set. Would he be smiling too, if he was here? Delta honestly, truthfully believed he would be. That thought overjoyed her, and she smiled yet wider. This night had turned out to be everything that she'd hoped it to be, and more, this bar had become something more under her ownership.
Something she hoped he would be proud of. No, she knew he would.
Delta slapped her cheeks, hoping to force some more energy into herself for this last stretch. About as prepared as she could be, Delta departed from behind the stage, but not before grabbing a certain envelope in one hand and holding it behind her back. With a confident stride, she headed back into the main bar, with that same familiar charisma about her.
Time to bring it home.
The bar's patrons would see the impeccably dressed woman enter the stage, her beautiful form accentuated by a purposeful stride towards the microphone. The bargoers would burst into applause and cheers as they noticed her, a lot of them well and truly shitfaced at this point. Drunken approval would spread throughout the bar, Delta raising a hand in appreciation and smiling widely. At this point, they knew that her next appearance would be too announce the People's Choice winner, and to cap off the night's events.
Just before this grand finale, Delta would have announced the voting procedure for the People's Choice. Slips would be handed out around the bar, with 2 votes per person, to be returned to the bar staff, who would count up all the votes to see who'd come out on top! Of course, it was all fun and games at the end, so the most important thing tonight, as far as Delta was concerned, was appreciation. Appreciating the bar and all it offered, and those willing to lend their talents to it.
Grabbing the mic with gusto, and raising a hand to point upwards, Delta basked in that same appreciation. "Hello, Fourth Corner!" The cheers, somehow, increased even further, as the bartender bathed in the spotlight. "It's time to bring this night to a close! Ladies and Gentlemen, you've seen plenty of performances tonight, plenty of wonderful talents and entertaining ensembles, but it's time to see who caught your fancy the most! It's time... To announce the winner of the People's Choice!" Delta quickly pulled out the arm behind her back, showing the official-looking envelope to the crowd. She'd specifically asked the staff not to tell her who'd won, just for the purpose of this genuine excitement!
"Now, everyone has put on a wonderful show tonight. I'm proud of you all for being a great crowd too!" Naturally, that got substantial applause. "This night has been a night to remember, I'm sure~ So, now, let's put a bow on things by seeing who, of all our incredible performers, managed to capture the spirit of this night." As Delta smiled eagerly, she was on the edge of her seat herself, and as she held the mic used her other pair of hands to open the envelope, making her announcement as she did so...
