Man oh man, what an awesome show! Kari was over the moon. This was probably the first time she'd been performing to a nearly full audience. Granted, the venue had been small and in a bit of a sketchy place, but what did she care? Attention was attention, and boy oh boy, did she adore it. They'd even liked her enough to cheer. Little by little, Kari was getting fan, and she couldn't be happier. The enthusiastic girl practically skipped as she left through the backstage door, wiping the last of the sweat off her brow. She'd changed out of her idol costume into something a bit more comfortable: A simple green tanktop and khaki shorts. No point in drawing attention to herself, especially in this neighborhood. It was a little cliche to say, but one would be hard pressed a bigger hive of scum and villainy. Whisperings of activities of a less than legal sort were common rumors about this district. The venue was on the outskirts but hardly out of the woods.
Cautious but undeterred, Kari set off down the street, her sneakers tapping softly against the slightly wet concrete of the back alley. It must have rained a little earlier, but she couldn't be sure given that the sky had grown a little too dark to properly see the cloud cover. She rubbed at her back gingerly, wincing at the twinges of irritation in her skin. Kari had been so excited about the show that she'd gone a little overboard with her Quirk. Making fireworks was cool and all, but once the adrenaline wore off, those little skin scrapes were SORE, darn it! Allowing herself a bit of absentmindedness, she turned on her phone and checked her various social media pages. Omigosh, videos of the performance were blowing up! That is to say, she'd actually managed to get double digit likes on some of them. Yessssss! Kari did a little fist pump and hop-skip of absolute triumph.
Unfortunately, this combined with her brief moment of distraction rammed her straight into a man who seemed to have popped up literally out of nowhere. He had a bit of a greasy look about him, between the unkempt black hair and dirty glasses, but he seemed... harmless? Like, the guy was a bit on the skinny side and pretty short for a dude. Kari didn't feel too threatened by him, even if he was giving off a bad vibe. "You... You're Kari, right? The lovely lady who performed just now? Hehe... I knew you'd come back here if I waited," the man chuckled, his voice about as slimy as his appearance.
Okay. No. Definitely not a good thing. Kari took a couple of steps back, her heart beginning to race. Despite that, she tried to stay composed, her usual brilliant smile beaming from her face. "Yep yep! That's me! Are you a fan? If you are, ya shoulda come to say hi to me after the show! People are gonna get weird ideas about us meeting like this in a sketchy alleyway, ya know??" she exclaimed, some part of her hoping that the man was just an awkward geek and not an individual with sinister intentions.
A smirk creepy enough to make her blood run cold spread across the man's unpleasant features. "Oh no, I promise... This is exactly what I wanted," he muttered, glancing down the alley in both directions to make sure no one was coming. Kari's followed his gaze with her eyes, checking for herself. Drat. It looked pretty empty. Her attention was brought abruptly back to the man as he moved again, circling to her left. Frowning, Kari retreated but found to her dismay that her back was now pressed right up against the wall of a building.
"H-Hey. HEY! BACK OFF! I DON'T LIKE IT WHEN YOU GET THAT CLOSE! GET AWAY FROM ME!" she yelled as loud as she could, trying to attract someone's attention. Fast as lightning, the man lunged, one hand grabbing her left wrist and pinning it to the wall, the other crammed over her mouth. Ugh. He smelled like dirty laundry and potting soil. Kari had to suppress the urge to vomit in revulsion that this pig had dared to put his hands on her. She struggled a little in his grip, eyes blazing in anger.
"Shhhhh... Quiet now. We don't want anyone to spoil our fun," the man hissed, eyes narrowing with menace as he looked Kari's body up and down. Kari's disgust ran like a chill down her spine. This bastard shouldn't ever look at her that way. That settled it. She was going to kill him. Leaving one of her arms free had been his biggest mistake. Kari relaxed slightly, feigning despair as she let out a passably believable whimper. One needle hidden in each sock and one tucked into her skirt. That should be more than enough. All she needed to do was distract him with a quick flash of light and then pound him into submission. No one would miss a waste like this. Kari steeled her nerves and prepared to activate her Quirk. It sucked that she'd need to scrape up her shoulder even more, but she did what had to be done. A silent countdown began in her head just as the man began to lean in.
