Arvis had been relieved that his Japanese, or lack there of, was still good enough at this point to have only made one mistake thus far. Not to mention that Delta seemed to be the forgiving type, if the possum stowing away in her kitchen and pilfering another customers food wasn't example enough.
Still Arvis felt he did Delta a disservice, but at least his prior dealings with that drunken customer seemed to be enough to at least garner some respect, and a free drink on the house.
The free drink, that was now promptly being fought to be kept down by Arvis. It only made the scene much more silly, considering his once statuesque appearance was now one of barely held together composure. At the very least, at least most of the drink went down his gullet, which could have easily found itself sprayed out across Delta's establishment. Wouldn't exactly be the most welcome of sights to the bar owner or Arvis, and thankfully instead found most of itself instead hacked out onto himself.
Mortified at Delta's words as she played with his overly obvious sense of duty in not wanting to insult her, Arvis was about ready to wretch again at the thought of a second take of the devilish drink. However, much to Arvis' pleasure and relief, if not at least a little disappointed with himself in not keeping it together, Delta was, in fact, joking.
Arvis breathed a silent sigh of relief as his ailing body finally started to recuperate from the solidly square punch to nearly every one of his senses. The coughing fit slowed and he was finally able to catch his breath, his vision also clearing more and Arvis was able to once again sit straight without bursting out another spasm of gasps and wheezes.
Taking a napkin from a similar dispenser to the one Perry had decided to use as a blanket dispenser instead, Arvis used one closer to himself as to not reach over and disturb the woman that sat near him, nor the little critter, looking like it was on the verge of passing out at any moment. Cleaning up the small patches of hacked up liquid from earlier, drying the spots on his work suit, he continued to still cough weakly on occasions.
"I...um...sorry about that. I can't say I ever expected to have an experience quite like that." Arvis mused as he cleaned the lesser amount of alcohol that had found its way on the counter and slightly lower down. He wouldn't let Delta stop him even if she tried, as he was one that was bound to try and fix mistakes he has caused. At least, the ones he was aware were his own fault.
"I appreciate it. Both the apology drink and the first one." He finished up and gave a genuine, if not a tad stiff of a smile. "I am glad to have tried it. Even if it wasn't at all I thought it was going to be, I can't say I didn't at least give it a spin at least once."
A different looking drink was presented to the blonde driver, whom looked at it with slight hesitation, but much more preparedness than he had for the first drink. Arvis had trusted Delta's judgement once, and he had no particular reason not to do so again, considering she seemed to want to amend his opinion.
Taking the new drink with more fervor, Arvis gave a appreciative nod to Delta. "That is the honest truth. I'm sure if I eased into the stronger stuff, I could find myself enjoying it as much as you. Maybe something to aim for?"
It was a difficult thing to imagine, considering how he barely contained the first one, but Arvis was legitimately speaking his mind, and it wasn't that he despised the drink. It's just hard to get a good impression of something when it kind of...chokes the air out of you.
With a mild grin, he picked up the new drink and took a breath, catching the whiff of the drink. The contrast in smells was almost night and day, with this one having a scent much more comparable to a fruit drink, unlike the concocted blend of mingling scents that were difficult to decipher for the fledgling vigilante.
The smell brought a certain comfort to Arvis, which had braced himself for another trip down sputtering lane, but this one seemed much more welcoming to the newbie, so he wasted no more time in taking the dive.
"Round two, cheers." Still not really knowing how to approach drink alcohol, he took this one more slowly than he had the first. The drink seemed to still struggle to find its way down his throat, his body apparently not being very fond of whatever substance it was he was pouring into himself.
However, unlike the smaller drink from earlier, Arvis managed to take a substantial enough drink to where he realized it wouldn't be caught in another violent fit of coughs. It seemed the alcohol still wasn't fully accepted in his body, whether that was the quirk talking or not, though the dosage and overall sweet and fruity flavor drowned out most of the problematic issues the first drink had.
"That's, uh...better?" Arvis uttered once he had tasted enough to give his thoughts. He really wasn't sure how to describe it. With how different the two drinks were, could one really be considered better or worse? It was like comparing apples to oranges. Both fruits, but nothing alike.
"I guess I'll have to stick to this type for now if I have any plans on working my way up to the...hard and classic." Arvis said, still not entirely sure what that meant, though it certainly hit him pretty hard, if that had any bearing.
Taking note of woman's coffee when Delta mentioned it, it was at that time that he noticed that the woman Delta spoke to was...looking a bit worse for wear. He chose not to bring it up for fear that he might be jumping to conclusions, especially considering what he had just been through a minute ago.
So, instead, Arvis shifted his attention once again to Delta with what he hoped was an attempt to break the ice, aware that he can often come off as perhaps too serious at times. "So, Miss Ivey, how long have you been going with this." He pondered, taking another small drink of the cider. "If I might ask that is. Studying and making a career out of drink making. Or is it more the bar running aspect that you were pursuing?"

sometimes you want to go WHERE EVERYBODY KNOWS YOUR NAME
Interesting as it had been thus far, it seemed like things were starting to wind down at this time, the inevitable retreating of the tumultuous tides that Delta had come used to every night at the place. Some customers were starting to bid farewell for the night, while the trio that Delta was most interested with were mostly having their own quieter struggles. The poor possum was already nodding off! The tired lad seemed all tuckered out from his singing and dancing, and after some concern from Delta and Hanako, the possum was slipping in and out of sleep as he draped himself with a napkin, providing a bit of a predicament for Delta herself. "Well, what shall we do with you..." Normally, Delta would wake them up and have them call a friend, but Delta wasn't exactly sure if the possum was hiding a smartphone on his person. For now, the bartender decided to let him be. In the worst case scenario, he'd still be sleep when Delta left, in which case she'd just leave open some small gap for him to leave through once he awoke. He might not be the only one dealing with oncoming sleepiness, as it seemed that Hanako wasn't taking too nicely to the coffee that had been provided for her. Even after Delta had asked, Hanako's response wasn't entirely convincing. With a slight frown, Delta glanced down at the coffee, and back at the woman drinking it. Customer service was key, so Delta decided to double down in that department. "Well, if there are any problems, feel free to let me know, dear~" The bartender asked. Perhaps it was a problem on the blogger's end more than anything, as Hanako didn't seem like she was just being overly polite for Delta's sake. The amber-eyed woman would just have to pay closer attention to the other woman. Her third interest for the night, Arvis, continued to amuse the four-armed bartender with his awkwardness and clear lack of experience. Delta wasn't exactly mean-spirited, but she couldn't help but tease younger guys like him. As he cleaned himself up a bit with a napkin, Delta once again dismissed his apology with the shake of a head. "It's a learning experience, my dear~ I remember my own first taste, hardly any better." That was over a decade ago now, but Delta still remembered it fondly. For a moment, her amber eye drifted toward the back of the room, before she refocused on Arvis. It was good to hear he at least found some level of satisfaction in the mere act of having tried it. Delta chuckled lightly in response, a hand raised to her lips as she gave a toothy grin. "Indeed, indeed. The first time is rarely what it's made to be, but always important to have, of course.." A hint of teasing in her tone, she would be presenting a second drink to the blonde lad. As he said, this would hopefully be his way of a proper 'beginner' level start. With another Cheers, he'd soon by trying his second round, with all that odd stiffness and awkwardness from before that made Delta want to tease him even more and grab her own drink to show him what an experienced alcohol enthusiast could handle. Nonetheless, Delta was satisfied with his reaction to the cider, being about what she'd expected. It was about as far as one could get from a hard spirit, containing none of the brutal kick that such liquors contained, being much, much more 'approachable'. "Good, good." Delta nodded firmly as he admitted it better, knowing she'd made a decent 'apology' with this second offering to him. At the very least, he seemed to be a bold one when it came to his liquor, wasting no time with either drink and not bothering to pace himself. A man with something to prove, perhaps? Delta could only speculate for now, on his upright nature. Another hearty grin was given Arvis' way as he talked about working his way up the alocholic chain. "Ahaha~ Then I shall have to guide you until that point." Delta declared with a flourish of one of her hands, and a chuckle. He'd been so confident in dealing with that other patron before, yet when it came to something as simple as alochol, Arvis Belmont was a much less confident lad, it seemed. Perhaps he'd a specialty in confrontation? Before Delta had any chance to inquire further and gather more potential info, the tables were turned on her, much to her surprise. The serious man decided to ask Delta about her own profession, trying to break the ice in that notable stiff manner of his, that Delta found a bit cute. Fortunately, the bartender didn't really mind talking about it that much. "Oho, what a question... Well, it's a bit interesting~ Miss Hanako, if you were still curious, listen in~" The four-armed woman said, trying to grab the other woman's attention too. If the coffee did not satisfy her, perhaps idly chatting would. Stepping back a bit, Delta first gestured toward the back wall, towards the portrait that still lay upon it. "I've been working here about 11 years now... You see, the prior owner of this bar, my... Mentor, God rest his soul, took me in back then." Lowering her gesturing hands, Delta instead seemed to display the whole bar around her with her motions. "I fell in love with the place right away. The vibrancy, the atmosphere, the pure life that flowed through. People in and out, their own lives interesecting and branching... This place was a home, I always wanted to be here. I suppose owning was always my priority, in one way or another. Though it wasn't until..." A brief, sudden pause, a slight twitch of Delta's lip, before she quickly hid it and continued. "My dear Mentor passed last year, that I inherited it. So, the brief answer..."Delta held up 11 fingers to Arvis, 5 on two of her hands and 1 on another. "I've wanted to work as a bar owner for 11 years. Mixing and serving drinks... Well, when you have my extra tools..." Delta held out all four of her palms to show what she meant. "Then bartending is just the easiest job!" A hearty chuckle was given, hoping to have explained Arvis' questions. Delta had delivered a briefer version of the story, however, than what was actually true... With some modifications to it along the way. Not that those omissions and white lies would hurt anyone.

at most I'm sleeping all these demons away She leaned on her left hand and stared at the possum, wondering how such a life he should be able to live, would it be fascinating? Would it be full of haters because he was a possum? Vermin thoughts or critters and all the like, people did not tend to be excited. She turned her attention from the possum back to Delta as she asked her about the coffee and when Perry fell asleep she noticed that she felt horrible, there was nothing wrong with the coffee. There was something wrong with her but she did not want people to know, especially not when she did not really know the people around here and it felt so... so private. She quickly wanted to answer Delta, "Ah I will, but there is nothing." She lifted up the cup, gave a smile to the barista and tried to take another sip. It just smelled like coffee, it just didn't taste like coffee, it was much more bitter and even if the little drops of coffee entered her throat, she already felt the need to vomit. But she swallowed bravely and moved her left hand in front of her lips but did not give any other sign of the rising urge within her body. This was ridiculous, she loved coffee. She was now focusing on that, trying more sips the moment the nausea wave left her again, she would finish this cup out of politeness and to avoid being embarrassed. She was glad that the guy that fixed the loud mouth from before, was able to distract Delta as well and that she could sneak into the conversation with just listening, not having to talk or mingle, she could sit there and enjoy. She would be okay, this coffee would obviously not kill her. She wondered about her first drink but as she did not like the heavy alcohol, it probably had to do with the smell, she mostly lingered to wine. She had champagne once but that memory would make her blush if she thought too much into it, so she tried to just focus on the conversation here. She perked up when Delta called her name and smiled, "I am all ears." She had her eyes shortly on Arvis before looking at Delta, she took her phone to make short notes, deciding right there and then that she would write about the bar in her new blog. She smiled at the woman who explained and showed enthusiasm for her job, weren't that the best owners of such establishments. "It's nice to have and get the end of your dream." She said, meaning that the end of Delta her dream was actually owning the establishment, that did not have to kill the dream, that meant you were living it. Maybe she should finally start with her own. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Thank goodness that the bar tender Delta seemed to be taking his bait, or at the very least going along with the distraction. Though Arvis might have been concerning himself over nothing, it was difficult not to see something was wrong with the woman who had ordered the coffee. You can only work with so many drunks and ill customers before the signs start to become second nature, and the fellow customer was covering it up as poorly as he had covered up his distaste for the liquor earlier.
Then again, this could all be meaningless assumptions, and his worry would be for not. Probably would just be better to ask out right, but pointing it out would likely just be denied or draw attention to it. Either way, it didn't seem like the greatest course of action, so Arvis would avoid doing so unless it seemed that things would get worse.
Watching the woman (which he now knew from Delta to be known as Hanako) carefully with sidelong glances, Arvis continued to listen to Delta with the majority of his attention. Arvis turned his head to look over at the gestured wall, which had the same portrait from earlier. Oh! So it was the owner, though he couldn't have guessed about his passing.
"Wow, eleven years. That is impressive." Arvis said sincerely, genuine in his tone as he took another swig of the cider. Why was he still drinking the stuff? Nervous habit? Or perhaps it was just an excuse to take his mind off the...obvious mutation of Delta. I light cough as Arvis drank the liquid to fast had sputtered out, but he quickly recovered as if nothing happened.
"Not many people have the capacity in sticking with something for that long. Though...I guess being fond of the profession does help." Arvis said with a small gesture of his hand before resting it on the counter. Couldn't say the same for himself...but then again he hadn't really found his calling. He thought it might have been automotive work, but it seemed all that did anymore was remind him of a bitter time in his life.
"Your mentor sounded like a good man. Passionate and dedicated. Sorry to hear about your loss." The story hit a tad to close to home with Arvis, considering he never knew his birth parents personally, and one of the main figures in his life vanished without a trace. Just where did you go, Leo? At least the Belmont's were hopefully still happy and together, preferably moving on without thinking of Arvis up and leaving them. All his ties...gone. Now he had to scrape by with what little skills he learned in life, both on the streets and in luxury.
He rose his bottle of alcohol in a small gesture of understanding towards Delta and the passing mentor. "It's good to see the torch has been passed to equally caring and trusted hands though. I'm sure your mentor would be proud to see the bar still thriving in your hands."
Arvis didn't typically like bringing up such statements, since they always seemed insensitive to the blonde vigilante. The loss of a loved one was always a touchy subjects, and only those that were close to the person should have the right to say such things. However, it only seemed right, because Arvis was speaking his mind. Fourth Corner seemed to be a lively, successful business, and surely it wasn't solely because the previous owner was skilled in his craft.
Delta's open chuckle put Arvis at ease though, considering he felt that he might have dug a bit to deep with having the bartender's mentor get brought up. At least she was taking it in stride...or hiding it well.
'Hiding from the past. Something I am all to aware of'
Arvis brushed the thoughts away as his he watched Delta reiterate the eleven year time frame of working, but this time with three hands raising the necessary fingers to symbolize the number. His eyes widened somewhat with the realization that he...couldn't actually guess Delta's age by looking at her. Eleven years wasn't a small amount of time to stick with one job, but at the same time, she didn't look aged to where he would guess her to be far above his own.
And heck if he was about to ask Delta himself, considering the vigilante knew full well how seriously some people took the dreaded 'age' question.
"Y-Yeah, extra tools." A tense chuckle escaped his mouth as he grinned anxiously. Arvis would rather not think about the 'extra tools' he had been born with. It didn't have the same qualities of life that could lead to a profession like Delta's. His quirk was only for harming. It was a bloodthirsty beast, and Arvis knew that a creature like that shouldn't see the light of day. Yet...
"I've never been much for easy jobs myself. I guess I just like the feeling of a hard days work being completed, or maybe the satisfaction of developing upon a skill." Ignoring the fact that working hard was all he had as a child. It was that or starve on the streets, so every moment could have been his last. Perhaps that was one more reason on the list of things that made him not especially pleased with his current job.
"Not to...discredit your work of course! You are devoted to being this bar's owner, so the four arms are perfect for the occupation!" Arvis back peddled slightly, realizing that it might have been insulting to call her job 'easy'. It wasn't his intent at all, but he knew that it also might have been to forward to say, especially after saying how long she has been at this. With a apprehensive laugh, he bore a hesitant grin and averted his gaze to look down at the bottle instead of Delta.
First her mutation and then his stupid phrasing. He took a longer drink of the alcohol this time to try and mask any obvious signs he was giving off. This was all Roy and Rain's fault. It just had to be...

sometimes you want to go WHERE EVERYBODY KNOWS YOUR NAME
Delta remained unconvinced that there was nothing going on with Hanako, her continued rejection of any problem starting to convince Delta that it really wasn't anything with the coffee that had the dark-haired woman so... Odd. The only explanation outside of the coffee itself was that it was some kind of personal thing, or that Hanako was just being polite, so either way Delta saw no reason to interject further, even if the former was decidedly interesting. Nonetheless, Delta had left the option of Hanako coming to her with any problems on the table, so there was no more reason to worry about that. Instead, Delta turned her attention to Arvis, the younger lad who'd inquired upon her past. The bartender had shared it with Hanako too, and even if it lacked many details, one could really not say it wasn't Delta's 'life' story. Or, rather, the story that she considered as starting when she... Actually began living. Everything prior had no good reason to be brought into this pleasant talk, so Delta just shared what she could, hoping to please the listeners. Hanako appeared to be taking notes, so hopefully it would be interesting enough to warrant writing about the bar as a whole. Delivering her story, however, wasn't so easy as she'd hoped. It meant casting her eyes backward, onto that past, and that was something very displeasing to the four-armed bartender. She loved flaunting herself as an experienced worker, smiling with self-satisfaction at Arvis' comment and noting that she wasn't aware of his occupation, but the ordeal with her "mentor" was a bit more awkward... Arvis' words stung more than he could know, Delta wincing lightly at the praise for her mentor. He was a good man. Was. Gone. Not here. One of her hands clenched lightly, as she smiled nonetheless nodding along to the other lad's words. Don't let him see. Not worth it, just keep the atmosphere smooth. Keep this place as vibrant as always. However, when Arvis raised his drink to her, his following words smoothed it over a bit. Proud? Delta... Hadn't really thought of that, too much, but she supposed he would be. She supposed... She liked hearing he would be, too. There was a warmth to those words, a comfort. "Well, I'm glad to hear you think so~ Unless you are just trying to flatter me~" Delta would respond with a light chuckle, raising an invisible glass as well, before continuing with her story and capping it off, yet Arvis' words and the thoughts that had arisen stuck with her. If he was proud, then it didn't matter. Everything was alright, because those four walls were still standing. Delta truly believed that. So long as she was able, Delta would keep The Fourth Corner up and running, until 11 years stretched in several decades. That was her dream, and as Hanako had said, it was nice to have it. "My my, I don't know if it's right to call this humble place a dream, but you're correct. It's certainly mine." The vibrancy, the people, the noise, the laughter, the joy, the connections, the... Life... It all flowed through this place, and Delta hoped Hanako could see that too. It would make for great writing material, after all! Masking the tenderness of the prior topic with her usual flamboyance, Delta quickly found her experience and expertise in the job commented upon by Arvis, particualrly her 'extra tools' earning quite the response from him. Was he amused by the oddity? Delta didn't really mind, so long as he found it interesting and fascinating, so long as he looked at her mutation with some degree of awe, Delta could care less where his opinion lie. The woman just chuckled lightly to herself again. What he said next piqued Delta's interest. So he wasn't one for easy jobs? A challenge-seeker, it seemed. A man who found pride in accomplishing difficult tasks. That would align with what Delta had discovered about Arvis thus far, and she could imagine the boy working up a sweat, getting his hands dirty, and all that other masculine mumbo-jumbo. "Ah, a proper handyman, I see~" Yes, she could imagine him being in some more physical occupation quite well... Though didn't dwell on the thought too long, just smirking to herself one more. Delta hadn't taken any insult, so to hear Arvis back peddle so suddenly and awkardly had her once again amused by just how adorable the otherwise upstanding man could be. "Aha, no offence taken at all, dear~" Leaning forward on the bar with her lower arms, Delta waggled one of her fingers at the other boy. "Don't think it's as easy as I make it look~ It takes practice to use four hands this skillfully, and there's much more to being a bartender than mixing drinks." The woman hummed in a light tone, clearly still quite enjoying the talk, not taking any offence thus far. That, and teasing Arvis was just too fun. "One has to be charming as well, of course! I'm sure I do fine there too, of course. After all, are you not charmed?" Delta chuckled to herself again, admittedly being a bit mean with that remark, but decided to make up for it by letting Arvis speak about himself for a bit too. "So, tell me, what about yourself? What kind of work do you do? What's the hard work that you strive for?" Delta inquired, a glint of curiosity in her eye, the same eye that glanced to Hanako, making sure she was doing alright too. Hopefully, if she was feeling genuinely sick, the woman wouldn't make herself worse with that coffee. 0000 WORDS |

at most I'm sleeping all these demons away That was maybe an interesting way of how to start it and words jumbled up in her mind to write and she thought about it for a short while, looking back up at Delta, "Dreams are for the person themselves, they don't have to impress others, else we keep our focus too much on a society that is made around us, not to help us search." She said, that was what she thought, her world certainly taught her what her dream was and she earned money with it but it was not everything and she would work on a name for her own but her Lady Scandal blog was her baby. She was actually being quite rude now that she thought about how to start, her eyes darting shortly back at the little possum, fast asleep and her half-empty cup of coffee. Thinking about that, made the nausea return and she ignored it again, trying to listen but she was mostly focusing on the words to basically sell this place. She noticed they were mostly talking to each other and as much as she wanted to join, she should go home. It was not as if anyone was waiting on her but if she wanted to try and go to work any time lately, she should try to catch some sleep, which had already been difficult lately. She scooted to the front part of her bar stool. "Sorry to interrupt." She said but it was rude to just go away right now and she turned her attention from the both of them to Delta. "I am unfortunately not all ears anymore, I would like to write about your bar if you don't mind. I am going to do that right now, I feel refreshed and fine." She had no idea why she added the fine, maybe for herself and hoped Delta wouldn't notice the cup a bit away from them. "Thank you so much for the evening and the coffee. Now I hurry along." She turned her attention from the bar owner to the blonde, "Nice meeting you." Even if she did not know his name, that was no need for this time and she hopped off the stool on her heels and headed out, putting on her coat while walking and typing with her thumb on her phone. She had at least something to write and she wanted to be home, disappear in her bed and comfy clothes and not show the world how her body hated her at this point. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Flattery? Had Arvis truly been coming off as insincere in his words? Or perhaps it was just another jape done by Delta to keep things lively. Arvis very much hoped it was the later, though with how infrequently he properly socialized, it wouldn't have surprised him to be the former. "No, no. Of course not. I'd never willingly flatter somebody." Arvis quickly reaffirmed his praise for the bar owners work with a tinge of regret over his possible choice of words from earlier.
Though he couldn't properly say her talents were top of the line for a lack of knowledge on the subject, she had been nothing more than kind to him and openly inviting. Which, in Arvis' mind, was all that was really needed to feel right in saying what he did.
Delta spoke with the black haired woman whom had been taking notes for what Arvis guessed was a review or article, and when the woman voiced her thoughts on the matter of dreams, Arvis nodded without much hesitation. "I'm inclined to agree. Dreams only matter so far as they hold a place in ones heart. There might be dreams that people might share with one another, but if the bar is your dream, then I'm sure it will show through in the eyes of others."
Having a dream was...something Arvis never truly had. Every day of his childhood was spent struggling to even scrape by with what little they had, there was no time to even consider what he might 'want'. The Belmont's taking him it seemed like it would be a dream and yet...it never actually felt like it. A luxury that had been granted to him, but not one he felt he deserved.
Arvis had no aspirations. No ideals, talents or goals in life. Even his vigilante work was more impulsive and a snap reaction to the way his caretaker Souma had treated him. It was something to keep his mind going on, but not one to make him feel satisfied.
When Delta decided to call Arvis a handyman, he rubbed the nape of his neck nervously. "I, uh...I'm not sure I would say that. I guess I just prefer being resourceful and seeing a task through." It was basically agreeing with what Delta had said about him, but he couldn't help but feel a tad embarrassed when someone else said it that way. Was it even a compliment to begin with? He was probably just over thinking things.
Much of his nerves were relieved when Delta tried to clarify on the difficulties required of her job to which he loosened up his stiff form slightly. However, the teasing gesture of the finger and leaning against the counter caused him to shook his head at his mistake once more in instinctive regret.
"R-Right. I never meant to imply that it-" Arvis was ready to apologize once more, but forced himself to stop when he realized that he might offend by the insistent need of trying to correct himself. Ruffling his long, shaggy blonde hair, he sighed. At the very least, Delta seemed to be amused in his excessive nervousness in speaking and socializing.
Wait, what did she just say? In between his insistent worrying and musings, had Delta just asked him if she was-?
"Charming? Well, I...I mean-" A shifted his eyes away in hesitation to answering he question, despite it being a fairly tame and simply playful question. His words fell silent and he felt his embarrassment show on his slightly flushed face. Why was he being such an idiot...
A second voice broke the immense tenseness Arvis was feeling as he looked over to see the black haired woman preparing to leave. Much to Arvis' prior suspicions, the woman seemed to be in a bit of a rush, but it was again none of his business. However, when she gave her short farewell to Arvis, he nodded and gave a faint smile. "Same to you." He didn't really consider to ask for her name, but it didn't seem especially important because her participation in the group was more focused on Delta than it was with him.
Just like that, she disappeared into the night cast streets as Arvis watched her leave, almost expecting her to possibly not even make it to the door with how ill she acted. Delta's spoke up to Arvis once more, now the sole remaining participant of this conversation with Delta, and he was relieved that she had decided to shift the topic away from the previous one that he struggled to answer.
"About myself...hmm..." Arvis puzzled at the thought, not really sure what he might say. To much of himself was either subjects he didn't very much like to speak of or were things he didn't even fully understand of himself. At the very least, he could manage to answer the inquires that wouldn't be problematic or difficult.
"I don't know how much I could really say about myself. If it wasn't fairly obvious, I'm...not typically one to step out of my comfort zone. Guess I'm not displeased with it in this case though." Had he already said something similar earlier in the conversation? Arvis could no longer remember. Not that it helped that he didn't even know what he would want say to Delta. "I've done a various kinds of work in recent years. Mostly manual labor, though I've done some technical stuff to like automotive repair. I'm currently serving as a contracted driver for various upper and middle class companies."
Arvis decided to leave out the bit that the Souma family, his previous employers, attempted his murder, ending any chance of Arvis to feel safe doing much of any job within the city, and especially continuing to work with them.
Taking note of the visible interest that Delta held for him through her expression and eyes, Arvis tilted a frown, feeling terrible that he couldn't do more to keep the playful bar owner more entertained.
"I...guess I never considered what I strive for in work. Or much of anything for that matter." Arvis slouched slightly, hating to admit such a concept. With a sullen sigh, he took another quick drink before shrugging his shoulders weakly. "If I'm completely honest, I am in a pretty rough spot in my life. I never really had a chance to find something I felt truly connected with or loved, and the one chance I had at improvement was thrown away." Not to mention by his own hands, but he wouldn't openly speak to a stranger about his fears of his own quirk.
"I suppose if I had to say something specifically it would be something where I can see a noticeable difference in the work I put in. A sense of self-worth in my efforts, as selfish as that might be."

sometimes you want to go WHERE EVERYBODY KNOWS YOUR NAME
The sincerity Arvis showed continued to surprise the four-armed bartender, as he dismissed any flattery so honestly. Had a good man and honest working woman waltzed into The Fourth Corner, both on the same night? It was amusingly odd to Delta, perhaps they were last of their kind in Kabukicho. God knew it would be nice having more of these kind and interesting guests. Insightful, too, as Hanako suddenly dropped quite the little spiel on the nature of dreams. Both her and Arvis' words on the matter didn't strike Delta as wrong at all, but it still felt... Strange... Calling this place her 'dream'. She couldn't quite put a finger on why, however, so just conceded the point to them. "I suppose you're both right~ I can't think of anything else to call my dream, so it looks like I've already achieved it, in my own eyes." Delta proclaimed with a flourish of her free hands, giggling lightly to herself. The dream that had only existed for as long as she'd worked there, what a strange dream indeed. Better a strange dream than none at all, she supposed... Delta knew all too well what that was like... They all had their dreams, and for many of them, it reflected in what they did. Their work, their aspirations, all parts of those dreams. Delta couldn't help but be curious about what her guests' dreams were, partially prompting her own eventual inquiries into their work. For Arvis, he seemed more hands-on, though kind of denied it himself. "Hmm, I see..." The bartender hummed to herself, more taken by his reaction than his words. He really was an innocent guy, wasn't he, looking so embarrassed so quickly. Unfortunately for Arvis, the easier it seemed to fluster him, the more Delta felt like teasing this easy prey. The shaggy blond was really quite something, in Delta's discerning eye, for being as sincere and innocent as he was. It didn't seem a bad trait to her. It was certainly more unique than the usual, less earnest customer one acquired around these parts. Rarity improved his value, in a way. He could do without always apologizing so much, however. It would also be preferable if he finished his compliments! The four-armed woman rested her chin on her hands as he spoke up, leaving his words short, the slight flushing of his force leaving her struggling to keep down a chuckle. Unfortunately, he never got to finish his words, as Hanako interrupted to announce her departure. It was a hurried one, seemingly confirming Delta's suspicions something was going on with her. Probably some illness or the effects of stress, either way, Delta was pleased to hear her bar was getting a write up. "Feel free to write it up. Take care!" The four-armed woman bid her farewells to the blogger, thinking it a bit of a shame she'd left so soon. Ah well, if fate was kind, Delta would see the woman in her bar again someday, the dignified and hardworking Hanako would surely make her return. Hopefully, feeling a bit better off than she'd seemed tonight. For now, Delta had Arvis to entertain herself with, asking questions that he'd have a bit less difficulty answering. As fun as it was to tease and prod the guy, Delta 's curiosity wasn't going to be sated just be making him blush. Well, not all of her curiosity. Her lower arms leaned against the counter, propping her chin up with her upper hands as she listened to what he had to say. She could have guessed he was someone who preferred their so-called 'comfort zone'. He was evidently on the shyer side, though that awkwardness also made him remarkably cute sometimes. That aside, he cited manual labor as the primary source of his employment. Ideas were already sparking inside Delta's head. What's more, his current work didn't sound like it was a full-time thing. "Ooh, a driver! Got a nice car?" Delta inquired curiously. She wasn't much of a motorhead herself, but it was a chance to strike onto something interesting. Even as he spoke, however, Delta couldn't help but shake feelings of reservation coming from the man. He was a very interesting lad, but there was so much that it seemed he didn't, or perhaps couldn't, say. He didn't look too pleased with his own story, either. His lips loosed, however, perhaps thanks to the presence of alcohol, and his admission had Delta's typically confident expression wither a little. A rough spot? No aspirations? No connections or loves? It was all hitting a bit too close to home for Delta, unearthing memories she'd rather leave in the dirt. Ultimately, her gaze turned from one of pure intrigue to something else. A mixture of discomfort and empathy. However, at his final words, the sparks of an idea from before flared into a burning fire. "I see... You really do have quite the situation..." Delta suddenly hummed to herself, thinking deeply as one hand tapped on her chin. "My, you sound like you've had a rough time of it, dear, indeed..." The bartender straightened up, lifting up her arms as the livelihood returned to her expression. She really didn't quite know what to say with all this... Seriousness... So she sought to evaporate post-haste. "I, erm, well it isn't something to be ashamed of. Perhaps..." She stumbled for a moment, but kept up her facade. One of her hands searched around the counter, as her others continued to gesture. "You just need the right opportunity, no? I know I was lucky enough to recieve mine, maybe you just need yours." This wasn't exactly something Delta was thinking through, but her guts and impulses were far more reliable to her than any kind of intelligence she might have. "You want to improve, and you want a place to connect to. Well, my dear, you are a very, very lucky guy~ There happens to be a place I know that's looking for work. A place that could use someone as physical as yourself."The hand that had been searching reintroduced itself, this time with a card in hand. A business card, for the Fourth Corner. It was as good a reveal as any. "I could use a handyman, after all~"It was, perhaps, the experience that fed her impulse too. She knew, after all. Where a homeless, lost soul could find a home. All they needed was four corners and a roof.

Arvis regarded the bar owner with a sheepish yet reserved grin at the inquiries of car ownership. "Hehe, uh, yeah. Actually, a few, though only one of them is a more recent model." A gift from Souma, as much as he would rather not think of it as such. Maybe selling it would do his mind some good...but at the same time it really was a great model. Looking at Delta, whom had her head resting on her hands, continued the matter with easy going pleasure.
"Most of them were 'junkers' that have been refurbished, and I've since sold most of them. Still got two or three and my motorcycle." He felt a sense of comfort and ease in speaking of the subject since, even if not overly so, it was one of the few things he took a small amount of pride and joy in. There was just something about automobiles and working on them that was therapeutic and a sort of meditation for his usually stressed mind.
"It's...nothing really worth noting as a particularly interesting skill. Just have to know where the right pieces go where and make sure that everything is secured." He skittishly chuckled and tapped his fingers against the drink he held idly.
Having moved on from the brief suggestion of Arvis' interest in automotive work, his own person was brought into question and the struggle of a discussion had ceased with Arvis feeling torn up and pathetic inside. He never spoke to anyone of such weakness, and the first person he decided to actually say it to was a random bar owner that he just met.
Yet...there was a sense of peace with Arvis over the thought. There was no reservations or prior expectations of him from Delta, and her openly accepting personality, career and mind was difficult to not feel secure in speaking from his heart...even if it was to simply get it off his chest.
Arvis knew though that the subject matter was heavy, essentially accepting his lack of worth to the world around him, and it showed in Delta's own hesitation and faltering in words. Arvis felt awful that he ruined the mood once more and wished to do nothing but apologize once more with distaste in his unnecessary dejection.
"It's okay...it isn't something worth trying to sugarcoat. It might not be healthy to lack this kind of enthusiasm and motivation, but it isn't right to say that there is nothing wrong with lacking it either. Thank you for trying to cheer me up but...I'll manage..." It was pretty much all Arvis did anymore. Manage.
Not live happily, not suffer from a horrid and debilitating mental state. Just...manage. Get up, work, then back home. Even with the time he spent freely, it was mostly just an excuse to break the monotony. Living as a vigilante was more a lie to himself that he could mean something to someone...even himself. It was a sickening, hollow feeling. Even living on the streets as a child was better than where he was now mentally. At least there he had his elder brother, Leo.
"Yeah, maybe...opportunity is hardly easy to come across when you are someone like me though..." Arvis hadn't really meant to say what he did, but the words fell out of his mouth in response to Delta suggesting he might find his place in the world like she had. It only made him slouch more in self-deprecation. The bar owner wasn't wrong, but...the differences in self-esteem felt a massive canyons gap in distance.
Something about her warm words and odd suggestions to the young, blonde male caused him to look up from the counter that he had been staring at glumly for some time. Eyes widening slightly in surprise as the worries and concerns shattered almost instantly, seeing the extended offer to Arvis.
"What? But I-" Arvis choked back his shock towards Delta. The mere suggestion slammed him squarely in the chest, not emotionally knowing how to even react. Arvis had no ideas in what Delta saw in him, nor if she even had a reason. It might have just been an attempt at burning away his doubts, but he couldn't help but be a smidge elated by the prospect.
Thought of a similar offer to Arvis had reminded him of why he was in Japan to begin with. Souma's scheme to manipulate and use him. It left him with little trust in his own abilities and choices, nor other people. Yet, Delta's accepting nature seemed much more welcoming, if not a little jarring to the vigilante.
"I...I mean...are you sure? I...don't have any noteworthy talents or anything I can provide to a business such as yours. I might have physicality, but..." Arvis tried to deflect the invitation as being a risky endeavor for the bartender, but took the business card delicately from Delta's gentle hands as if it was made of highly fragile material. He stared at it for some amount of time that seemed to last an eternity, thinking about what Delta had said. A handyman. He had no clue what that held for him but...it couldn't be worse than where he currently was.
To feel welcome, by even the small amount he did, was heart-wrenching to the young man that had only felt twice before, and squandered.
"This is...I don't know what to say. It...means a lot to me, that you would put stock into even consider hiring me. I've...never had anyone be so...fair to me." He wanted to say kind, but Arvis knew that the Belmont's had also taken a massive chance in adopting the young lad off the streets. Their gesture also would bring a tear to his eye if he was one to wear his heart on his sleeves.
Holding the card firmly in his hands, he gave a baffled, but enthralled smile that was more open than he had at any point since this night.
Quickly getting up off his stool, the large frame of the male stood tall and straight in front of Delta with an open, gloved hand and nervous laugh. "I..um, don't believe I have introduced myself, Miss Ivey. My name is Arvis. Arvis Belmont. I'm...glad I got to meet you tonight. It, really has been nothing but a pleasure."

sometimes you want to go WHERE EVERYBODY KNOWS YOUR NAME
Impulses were a funny thing, yet a guiding force in much of Delta's split-second decision making. Such that they would lead her to do something as sudden and seemingly foolish as recruit a young foreigner of whom she knew very little. Simply because of common curiosity, and a boundless intrigue in his story... Particularly, all those points that reminded Delta of her own. Torn apart, directionless, unmotivated. It was a terrible place to be, without a home, without something one might call their 'life'. It wasn't something Delta Ivey had ever given much thought to, but perhaps her own experiences, her own lows that she'd reached, were what let her so readily listen to the stories of others. Without judgment or worry, only pure intrigue, and fascination. For all that came within those four walls had a story to tell, and some struck her fancy quite well. Arvis' story happened to be one of those. The boy's own charms aside, his history was what had lead Delta to so oddly push forward with her words, his own obliviousness only endearing him further as Delta delivered her offer with the utmost sincerity. Her almost shaky smile growing into a beaming look of joy and admiration at his surprise and shock. Perhaps, even while flustered, Delta had those charms of hers after all. Or so she believed. "Well?" Delta hummed delightedly at his clear elation at the prospect, until he finally managed some words in response. "Physicality is just what we need, funnily enough, ~ Besides, you seem to handle conflict well enough, another useful trait~" At least, they were useful attributes for the position Delta was already considering for the younger man. His specific role would be yet determined, but one thing was clear now, that she wasn't going to let him deflect her offer. As he took the business card, holding it so tenderly, something resonated within Delta. A memory, an empathy. The words of a kind-hearted man, asking a shy, scared girl, "How'd you like to help out here?". If only she'd the courage to face those memories, and what loss they represented. All she knew now was seeing this dejected younger man look so welcomed, so at home within these four walls, put a bigger smile on her face than any of her attempts at teasing had. Was she really being fair to him? Perhaps not, considering how impulsive Delta's decision was. Then again, in the bartender's mind, nothing was as fair as following one's desires, and right now, she desired to see Arvis Belmont find a proper home, one where she could continue to serve him as he served her. Maybe one day he'd be able to brave that whiskey properly. Delta almost blushed as he declared his gratitude, nonetheless. However, a hand to her face hid anything close. Another hand would accept Arvis' gloved handshake, as he gave his name, Delta only just realizing he hadn't given it yet. Perhaps she'd been a bit too focused on teasing him before... "Please, the pleasure is all mine, dear~" Delta uttered as she lightly shook his hand. This had been quite the productive night thus far, however, Delta needed one more thing to cap it off. She needed to welcome her new worker properly. "And welcome, to The Fourth Corner~"
