Cian had carefully put together a number of group rescue exercises with the opening of Semper Fi. Their rescue facilities were top notch and he wanted to use the opportunity to teach his classes a very valuable lesson. The school year was in full swing and it was time that he provided them with a big challenge. That in of itself was a big channel for Cian. He had to craft puzzles for the students to make creative use of their quirks and put them in a situation where they had t work together to complete the objective. This most important part of this class was learning to work together with people that didn't interact too much. He knew that some of the students knew each other, but he designed the groups to have from different classes. This way he could do his best to ensure they weren't too familiar with each other. It was a fun idea and he had a lot of fun putting together the courses for the students. And naturally, he couldn't help but place little mental bets on how each student was going to handle each situation.
Japan, being an island country on the Pacific, had one reoccurring natural disaster that was always very troublesome. Earthquakes hit Japan at varying degrees and sometimes they weren't a problem at all. The majority of the trouble areas in the country where built and prepared for them. However, sometimes earthquakes were severe enough that they affected structures that were not, Sometimes they effects were so far-reaching that places that never felt a rumble were completely devastated. This scenario was base don a hotel that was hit in an earthquake. The hotel and its surrounding area were usually out of reach of the epicenter of the earthquakes in Japan.
When the earthquake that hit the area came, no one was ready for it. It rocked the building to its core and emergency services were slow to react to the situation. Many buildings and streets had people in it that needed help and there just wasn't enough manpower to help everyone in a timely manner. Sometimes it took days for help to arrive and it took days to get everyone in the hotel out safely. This course was designed to be a reenactment of that situation with nine targets to rescue. They were the same mannequins form the rescues classes the students were used to. Each one was to be rescued and place in the marked off spot just outside the hotel's front entrance. And next to that marked off spot was the starting line where the students were to gather and start the lesson.
Within the hotel, there was one mannequin that was trapped under a large plastic case in one of the hotel rooms. It was a strong type of plastic, one that was heavy and hard to cut. Moving it was going to be difficult without hurting the mannequin that was trapped underneath it. What was needed was some way to break up the plastic to make it more manageable. Its chemical structure wasn't all that strong, so those that could use that to their advantage would be best at dealing with it.
There was another room that was completely filled with gas. A pipe was leaking and making the filling the room at a rapid pace. Even with the door open, it would fill faster than the gas could escape. It was impossible to breathe or see into the room with the fog that was inside. Breathing in the gas was unsafe as well. It caused an itching of the throat and stomach, which would be very uncomfortable for whoever did for two rounds. Somehow, a student needed to enter the room and find the mannequin inside without letting the gas get to them which was a feat unless the gas could be stopped somehow.
And like many of the targets, another room had a mannequin trapped behind a door. The lock was jammed because of some material wedged on the hinge side of the door. Moving or sliding it out was near impossible. And with it stuck in there the way that it was, the material couldn't be moved. This material had a unique property though. Like most things, ti expanded when heated. For many solids, the expansion wasn't that noticeable. But for this material, it was explosive. Not in a fiery explosion, but like a balloon popping Doing so would unwedge the door provided the students could find something to heat it.
In the lobby was mannequin behind the front desk. They were hunched in a knocked out fashion. Around there a chandelier had fallen and broken glass was everywhere. it was dangerous to walk around it as large pieces of glass and crystal could pierce event he thickest of shoes. The students had to find some way around the shattered glass or to move it in order to get o the mannequin safely.
At the emergency exit, a mannequin was hanging from a section of broken stairs. They separated ding the earthquake and left a singular platform. Being a mannequin, its grip wasn't all that tight. And if it fell, the thing would be badly damaged or even killed. Rescuing the mannequin was important and needed to be done within six rounds before it fell. Reaching the mannequin was going to be difficult as well. It was out of reach physically for the students, but through some kind of combined effort, something creative could be done.
There was also a mannequin that was at the edge of a window on the third floor. The room was on fire and it couldn't be accessed from the inside. The mannequin had to be rescued some other way. Doing so was dangerous, however, and disrupting the room too much could cause the mannequin to fall out of the window and down to the ground below. The fall wouldn't be fatal, but ti would damage the mannequin quite a bit. So the students had to be careful in how they dealt with the situation. Fortunately, this target was one that could be seen from outside as long as someone looked over the sides of the hotel building.
Down in the hotel's kitchen was another gas leak. This one was less of an issue as far as visibility went. However, the fumes were vomit inducing. Breathing them in for more than two rounds could forcefully cause a person to vomit. This gas was special in that it did not go to the lungs, but the stomach instead. This meant that those with sensitive stomachs would be affected much worse than those without. As for the mannequin in the kitchen, they were laid out nice to the freezer door, which was sealed and a good escape for anyone that reached it to take a break from the gas in question.
Another hotel suite was completely dark. It had no windows and served as the hotel's most secure suite. But the quake knocked everything inside of the suite around, making it hard to move around and find the mannequin within. Anyone searching it was going to have to spend some time in the room and in complete darkness to find the mannequin and get them out safely without injuring them.
The final mannequin was locked in an office with a unique locking mechanism. It required some precise temperature control to reveal the order of buttons of the lock needed to be pressed on the panel in order to unlock the room. Usually, this was completely bypassed with a key card, but that wasn't available at the moment. Instead, the panel that to be figured out or removed in some way to get through the door Sadly if it was done wrong at any time, the panel would cease to function normally for two rounds, meaning experimenting through the normal way was going to be time-consuming and inefficient. If the students could find another way into the room, that would be best.
The class will end once all mannequins are rescued and brought back to the safety zone, or time runs out (the event ends and the topics closed). This is not an exam, but a class. Students are here to learn and practice, not compete with the other squads to do things the best way. Mistakes are allowed. The important thing here is for students to learn to work together for a common goal. Aside from the stuff in this opening post, the topic and setting are free to use and proceed as you wish. If you have any questions, contact me on the discord. From this point on the student shave free reign and I will not be replying to the topic unless needed for something specific and by request. Have fun with it!
