WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Troubled breathing, Rin was gasping for air. The running was coming to an end, as the girl staggered through the gates to Tokyo Park. A cold evening breeze toyed with her raven dark locks. The white silken dress trailing her figure like a delicate cloud. The girl's eyes had lost their sapphire shine, replaced it with that of simple glass. The girl's sclera were swollen, red. Shimmering lines of dried tears still barely visible in the light from the lamp post, indicating why her eyes might've been irritated. Walking quietly into the park, Rin chose to walk in the grass. Feet were pounding with every heartbeat, making it painful to walk. The colder grass was soothing to walk in, compared to the pavement of the sidewalk. Slowly stepping in deeper, Rin was headed for the center of the park. Underneath a lamp-post, Rin found a bench. It offered Rin some reprieve from standing on her feet, from the walking. It was the first time since she had fled the café area, that she had stopped. The girl's bare feet were sore beyond belief. Small stones from the pavement, a shard of glass and several other things that people had littered the streets with, had been stepped in while Rin had travelled from the maid café to Tokyo park. Perhaps leaving her high heels behind had been a stupid decision afterall, even if walking in them was an absolute pain. They would've still been preferable to the last fifteen minutes on bare feet. Groaning softly, the girl lowered her feet into the water fountain, cleaning them off and massaging out some of the cramps...
How on earth had things gone to shit in a handbasket so quickly? In one moment, Rin had been on stage, singing to the best of her abilities. Everything had been moving along in a fantastic manner, everyone had been smiling, cheering, applauding openly. From the spotlight, Rin had the support of her friends, of the ones she cared for. Then mere moments after, something had disrupted the peace. Elise-chan had been devastated by, according to Akio, Jasmine behaving like a bitch. Jasmine, not quite the person most capable of discerning a situation or atmosphere, had chosen this as the time to lay claim to the raven haired maiden. Practically kicking Ryuusei off stage, the claim had been made. For only the briefest fraction in time, Rin had felt the warmth. The happiness of belonging somewhere. Hah, Rin should've known better. Elise-chan broke out in desperation. Clinging on to Rin, not through physical contact, but through words. Those words she spoke, were like emotional daggers, sinking themselves into Rin's core. Hooks, pulling Rin in whichever direction Elise-chan desired. It was in many ways the same thing Jasmine had done, when Rin had been enthusiastic about going on a date with Ryu-kun. It almost felt like whenever someone declared their love for her, pain was waiting just around the corner. Indescribable, horrible pain. Like a curse, forever haunting her miserable existance.
After having cleaned her feet, Rin leaned back against the bench, closing her eyes and taking a couple of deep breaths. The cool evening air was the only thing keeping her awake still. Perhpas this would be where she spent her evening. Sleeping on a bench like someone homeless. Not that Rin really knew if she had a home to go back to. Rin loved them. Elise, Ryu and Jasmine. They loved her too, all of them had made that very clear. So, if there was all this love to be had, all this love and warmth to be shared, why was Rin left alone on a bench, middle of the night, freezing to herself. Why was there no happiness, no laughter, no joy, only tears and lonely misery? It made Rin wonder if she truly understood what love was. Perhaps what the girl felt for the three of them was not love at all. Perhaps what they felt for her, was not love at all. Sighing softly, Rin could not think of way out of this mess. The girl could've lied to them all, claiming she felt no physical attraction to females, therefore hooking up with Ryuusei and sparing them all from needless pain. Or, she could've chosen noone, claiming that she wasn't ready for romantic love. At least Rin had come to the conclusion that picking someone was impossible.
Searching through her purse, she had just enough money for the bus fare. For now, the only thing Rin really wanted was a long warm bath, before an even longer night's sleep. Slowly getting up from the bench, stretching to her full length, Rin checked her phone. A bus would be leaving from outside the park in the next ten minutes. With the light from the screen guiding her way, Rin began heading to the northern park entrance. Quietly stepping through the darkness, as the silence of the park engulfed her. It was strangely quiet.
Almost too quiet.

He knew he should not have been out. He was supposed to be locked down to the dormitory building, forbidden from leaving even to the school library. All thanks to that bitch Susamu; the irritating, petulant whore who had gotten exactly what she deserved.
Susamu was the furthest thing from Nick’s mind, however. No; once again all he could think about was Rin, Rin, Rin. No one else could have gotten him to defy his suspension as boldly.
He clenched his fists as he strode through the dimly lit streets. It was not fair. He had only just begun to understand what he felt for her and some other bastard had come along and snatched her right from under him. Once again he felt the overwhelming, crushingly helpless sensation of having no control he was also just beginning to realise had plagued him his entire life.
And he was sick of it.
So. Very. Sick. He had never had a choice about being raised enduring brutal training that involved having the shit kicked out of him and being made to kill other children. He had never had a choice about being sent to Yuuei. This time, though, he told himself he did have a choice. He would take back control. Take back her.
And that was exactly why he was out on the streets, following after her small form from a reasonable distance. Even he had known about her music night; lord knew she had advertised it enough. He had intended to enter the maid café to watch her, but had arrived in time to catch sight of her fleeing from it, for whatever reason. Which suited him just fine.
He reached the park himself and glanced around. He saw her at last as she slumped down against a bench. He maintained his distance in the shadows, ignorant of the kind of being this made him seem like, or that he perhaps had become.
Her eyes were red. Had she been crying? His mind actually blanked. For some reason, a part of him wanted to say something, anything, that would make her feel better. Alas, he had no idea how to do that. No one had ever said anything of the sort to him all the times had cried before he came to Japan…
So, instead, he resumed his approach as she got up again with an expression that was difficult to read.
“Rin.”
He finally reached her. He stopped with her but an arm’s length away. To an onlooker he must have seemed like a complete robot, with his stiff posture and neutral stare.
“You’re out late,” he continued, plainly stating the obvious like a bloody idiot, completely overlooking the fact that he, too, was out late. On the inside he cringed at himself and voices yelled to get a grip. “What’re you doing?”

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Hardly had Rin gotten up from her seated position at the bench, before a voice called out to her through the darkness, startling her. It had been way too close all of a sudden, without Rin having realized anyone approaching. The night had been almost completely silent. A sharp gasp left her lips, as she turned around, coming face to face with Nick. There was a moment where Rin was tensed up, on guard, alert. Seeing as it was a familiar face, even if said face wasn't one she normally felt completely comfortable being around, the girl quickly g ot her nerves under control. A sigh of relief left her lips, her shoulders lowered, the tension she felt dissipating. The girl's voice was tender, sweet, yet had an unmistakable sound of sadness to it. Like a lump was stuck down her throat which she simply couldn't get out, no matter how much she fought it, "Nick-san, you startled me... How'd you even get here?" Quickly rubbing her eyes in a useless attempt to look less pathetic. It had absolutely no effect. Rin still looked absolutely devastated. Clearing her throat a little, she began finally taking a stance to his other questions. Nick was being strangely awkward. It wasn't like him to... show any kind of empathy. Yet, that is the sensation Rin was getting. That he was trying his best to make the evening just a slight bit better. Something the raven haired female could appreciate. Perhaps, all the talk with the teachers had eventually paid off. Perhaps Nick truly was turning a new leaf, even if this beginning was a far cry from being great. Still, perhaps Nick himself was feeling a little lonely. Being there this late in the park by coincidence... maybe his night had been less than ideal too. "I was working at the café. We had a music night, which I'm sure you'd heard. Given how excited I was to tell everyone about it... Too excited perhaps." Rin said in a soft tone, deciding to plop back down onto the bench. Since they were talking and there was plenty of time before the bus would arrive, her feet could appreciate the comfort of her butt taking the weight for a little while longer. "The music night went from amazing to horrible in roughly five minutes." Honestly, taking the time to explain to him what had happened, might've actually been a fairly decent way for Rin to work through the evening. Even if the listener wasn't a person she'd normally confide in. "...Then Elise-chan began crying. It was related to her loving me, more than she could explain. Feeling that she was left behind. Feeling that she was unloved. It devastated her. Elise-chan behaved almost.. desperate." Rin said in a soft tone, a hand raising to scratch her own cheek. Never before had Rin seen someone act so strongly. It was almost frightening, yet at the same t ime, incredibly painful to see... "Then Jasmine-chan, having had enough of all the romantic nonsense, practically dragged me onto stage. Ending Ryu-kun's performance right then and there. He looked so shocked, heartbroken, humiliated. In front of two-hundred people, she declared her love for me, kissed me, stating how no one else would have me. Something about me being her world?.. For a few short moments I was the happiest I've ever been, but, then it all broke down." Placing her elbows onto her knees, Rin rested her head in the palms of her hands. The cellphone was still carefully kept there, making her chin feel slightly uncomfortable against the block. For a short blissful moment with Jasmine, Rin had felt as if the world made sense. All the pain that followed, made it feel like she had been horribly wrong."Several of the guests were boo'ing. Akio-san and Maximilian-san were shouting insults. I hardly remember what happened. I just ran... Ran away from all of it. I--" Rin's phone vibrated, as a text message flashed across the screen. It was from Jasmine Noir, clearly visible even for Nick to read. Where are you?? Sighing softly, Rin began writing a reply to the blonde. Giving a short; "Excuse me half a second, they're looking for me." To Nick. I'm near a bus stop, heading home. We can talk tomorrow.

Nick had not expected her to answer him. He had already been preparing himself for her to recoil at his presence, to look at him with eyes wide in horror and to demand him to leave her alone. After all, why would she want him around her? She did not understand him. Honestly, deep down he barely understood himself, so how could he expect her to? He needed to be strong to survive, but he was a mess…
He listened to her words. He tried to maintain his calm, neutral demeanour, but what she said made him begin to tremble. No. This was worse than he ever could have imagined. It was not only Ryuusei who had laid a claim to her, but whoever this ‘Elise’ was and fucking Jasmine Noir of all people too? His expression slowly back to crack, an eye ever so slightly twitching.
Once again he was his seven-year-old self stood looking through a shop window at all the toys inside, until the man he was with seized his arm and dragged him away.
He could never have anything he wanted, anything that would make him feel things other than anger and pain. Other people were always taking it away from him. Except he had vowed this time that would not happen. He believed that with even greater fire now, knowing how many there were.
“It’s funny,” he said. “I think I almost know what that feels like, you know? Being – desperate.” He hesitated before he said it, reluctant to admit that he could ever feel such a way, but he did. There had been a feeling of emptiness that had gnawed on him all his life, and somehow it had only grown worse because of her. When he had kissed her, it had gone away. He wished for it to go away forever, and if she was the key to that…
“I…”
For some reason he remembered Susamu’s words about how Rin had been hurt in her past, and how it reminded him of his own suffering. He dipped his head, unsure of where the hell his words were coming from, but he could not stop them; “I know what it’s like, Rin. To be hurt when you’re – to be hurt.” He finally managed to stop himself. There was no one else he knew who had suffered too in their childhood, but how much weakness did he want to show, even to her? Did he really want to give such information about himself away? He no longer knew.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Another message was sent, as Rin quietly tapped across the screen. The little mail icon flying off into the darkness, carrying a message to Elise. The third and final message that was sent, got sent to Ryuusei. All of the messages could be read by Nick if he so desired. It wasn't like Rin was trying to hide anything. For the two of them, it was practically the same message as Rin had sent to Jasmine just a while ago. Letting them know that everything was okay. I'm sorry. I'm by a busstop, heading home. Can we speak sometime tomorrow? At the very least, all of them knew that she wanted to share a couple of words. The worst of the damage was hopefully contained until then. Closing the phone, stuffing it back inside her pocket, Rin quietly nodded as Nick went over his emotions. It was strange to have him be this open. When first Rin had met him, Nick had been an elitist in every sense of the word. Seeing himself as above and beyond reach for anyone else in the world. They had been teamed up, unwittingly, for a short practice on the very first day of school. They were meant to showcase their quirks. Get used to using their quirks in front of others. Something as simple as having Rin catch a baseball he threw, had damaged his pride. Yet, his attempt to force Rin to submit, hadn't functioned either. In hindsight, it felt like Nick had attempted to call her weak during their little exchange. Thus, the raven haired female had gotten a little stubborn. Being looked down on felt horrible. So she had shown him just a glimmer; Just enough that he'd know not to take her too lightly. Then there was their little interaction in the bomb-defusal scenario. The desperation Nick described, might very well have been that. A hunger to win. A hunger to prove everything that they believed in. To cement the values that they stood for. It was a clash of ideologies. A refusal to back down. The winner of the little scenario had, once again, been Rin. Even though, the aftermath had resulted in her needing a week in the infirmary to recover. To Rin, it had felt like a loss. Being unable to walk off the battlefield on her own two legs was humiliating. Although, to Nick, it must've been many times worse. Seeing the victor carried off on a stretcher. Inherently, Rin understood these emotions. "I think everyone knows what desperation feels like, in one degree or another. Like when I joined Yuuei, I was desperate to not be left behind again. To not be viewed as weak and useless... I never imagined I'd still be here after three months, much less as the class president." The more Rin considered her situation, the more she realized, that this little mess that had transpired tonight, wasn't the end of the world. There was still a class with tons of comrades. There were still people who loved her, cared for her. There were still things she needed to do. Even if her lovelife had fallen apart... Perhaps she was being too dramatic? Even if she ended up alone after all of this, worst case scenario, she was still well on her way to becoming a hero. To realizing a dream... That had to count for something, right?.. Even the singing aspect of the evening had been fantastic. So, perhaps getting hung up in the small things was a big mistake?... Picking out her phone again, she began texting another text to Jasmine Noir. "You know, I never imagined we'd be able to have a chat like this, Nick. It really surprised me. You made my night a little better. Thank you." Rin offered him a soft smile, slowly rising to her feet while finishing her message to Jasmine. The blonde needed to be given an apology. An apology for Rin having ran off in such an inconsiderate moment. "Nick-san, if you need to return to Yuuei, the bus leaves in.. five minutes... I've got to run, but.. If you need someone to talk to.. about the things that make you desperate or hurt you?... We can talk tomorrow. Okay?" Offering him a bright smile, the mail icon left the screen again. With that, Rin sighed softly, before heading directly for the park gate. It was about time she took a little more control of things, instead of letting a singular part of her life, namely her love life, dictate how she felt about everything. Being a hero came before love. They'd simply have to accept that fact!I'm sorry for running away. When you get home, we should talk.
Your Raven.

Nick felt pangs of jealous irritation the more she fiddled with her phone. Undoubtedly she was texting Ryuusei or someone about meeting up and how much she cared and all things Nick would never hear from her or anyone else.
He was surprised, however, when she actually thanked him, and instead of bitter jealousy he felt suddenly delighted to see her happy again, even almost smiling. It did not last long, for it still did not change that she had been hurt in the first place. What had she said, that people had been booing? Fucking Maxi, that useless moron, and some others she had not named but he promised himself he would find out. He would make them pay, as agonisingly as possible.
He abruptly snapped out of his angry haze as she spoke of catching a bus. A quiet, pained ‘no’ left his lips. She was turning. She was walking. She was leaving. An icy cold void opened up inside him and the exact desperation he had spoken of screamed through his body.
If he let her walk away then she would head straight back into the arms of Ryuusei, or Jasmine, or any other of the apparently numerous choices she had that were not him. To say he could not stand that thought was an understatement equal to describing the sun as merely warm.
“You’re not leaving me!” he howled in a voice that sounded every bit as hurt, frantic and desperate as he felt.
The disc-shaped growth on his back bulged and spat out its fluid faster than it ever had. It had not even finished solidifying into armour when he lunged at her and attempted to wrap a hand around her throat. A quick, swift submission choke, as painless as possible; the Gifted Underground’s training had not been wasted, as much of a struggle as it had been.
Finally, she would be all his, and never anyone else’s. He would keep her safe from everyone who would want to harm her. It did not even matter to him that he would never be returning to Yuuei; going there had never been his choice to begin with, and from now on he made all his own decisions, starting with his decision to take back Rin. Where would he take her if he succeeded in choking her out? Fuck, he barely knew, but he would find somewhere. All that mattered to him was that he had her.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy It was strange, how quickly relationships could change. A month or so ago, if anyone would've asked, Rin was certain that Nick could've never become a hero. The boy had seemed to care for no one but himself. Serving only selfish desires, caring only for the things that he wanted. Although, after their little exchange today, it seemed like something else was going on. If Rin was to take a wild guess, there were expectations placed onto Nick. Expectations that he, on occasion, either couldn't live up to, didn't want to live up to, or doubted if he even should live up to. Scratching the skin of her arm idly, perhaps it was something she could ask him about tomorrow. That is, if it felt natural in a conversation. Pressuring someone to speak, of something they didn't want to speak of, typically only lead to more pain. Lowering her shoulders, she looked to the phone. Thus far, Ryuusei had not replied to the text. Then again, last Rin had seen him, he was sitting at the piano while Yoruhi-kun was approaching. The two of them were likely hitting it off by now. Smiling to herself, Yoruhi-kun was one of the friends that she truly, truly loved. Even if that love could never be anything romantic. The boy was a bit like a helpless older brother, constantly needing attention and care to stay out of trouble. That said, one could always count on him when things were on the burner. This time, Rin had to trust that Yoruhi-kun would take care of the remaining nonsense at the music venue.Elise had written a reply, almost immediately. Perhaps Rin ought to have been surprised by this, but from their time together, Rin knew inherently that Elise cared. Elise cared about perhaps as many things as Rin herself. Had about as many worreis about fitting in, about making friends, about finding the right love for herself. In many worlds, the two of them would've hit it off splendidly. In the one they lived in, there were so many factors keeping them apart. Factors that also kept Rin away from Jasmine and Ryuusei. It was such an incredibly pain to deal with. Rin just wanted to be happy. Romantic love or not, they were sitll her dear friends, and she would cross oceans or mountains for them. Whoever ended up receieving Rin's kisses and Rin's romantic affection... they could never change that. Ever.Uhm... I'll be waiting for you at that flower field behind the dorm.. I hope we can talk! We need to find answers, Rin, to this... I hope we can find our answers together.
Elise. Rin was about to write a reply, when a loud noise errupted behind her. The girl could not hear whether it was the voice of a demon or the voice of a person. Startled, the girl was about to turn, but it was already too late. An arm wrapped around the girl's throat, squeezing her in against his chest. Breathing was immediately impossible. In a panic, the girl dropped her phone, several different buttons pushed as it landed in the grass. Calling... With Nick's much taller frame, Rin was practically lifted from the ground, dangling in the air. Gasping, twitching, jerking, her fingers tried to pry inbetween his arm and her neck, pulling at his arm, desperate to get free, desperate for air. Nick was much stronger than her in his transformed state. The girl's best efforts hardly made his arm move at all. Tears were dripping from the corner of her eyes. Quirk, the girl had to use her quirk!?.. It was her only chance!!
...but how?! There wasn't any safe way. Rin's only option to make herself bleed was biting her tongue hard, which with his current grasp around her neck was nigh but impossible. The girl tried, but her jaw couldn't get the space. Rin could not draw blood. The grip onto his arm slowly lessened, as her strength began fading. Letting go of his arm, the girl tried to desperately claw into the skin of her arm. Anything at all that could help her. Anything. The nails never got deep enough. With all the physical activity, her consciousness was fading rapidly. It only amounted to long red lines across her arm. The shine in the sapphire blue eyes soon went out. Darkness encroached as Rin's arms eventually dropped from his deadlock on her, dangling loosely at her sides. The girl had lost consciousness, unable to mount an effective response, as soon as Nick had gotten up close and personal.
He finally had her in his arms, without anyone, not even Rin, standing in his way.
