A soft melodious humming escaped the burgundy-haired lass her lips as she walked outside the lecture hall she had spent most of the afternoon in. It was a rather amusing contrast with the other students who were with her. Some of them were looking like they were on the verge of falling asleep, and others had gathered their last amount of energy and cheer to celebrate the end of their lessons for the day and a bit of free time to spend their evening. If one considered those exhausted reactions it might have looked rather amusing that this particular young lady was almost bouncing around with energy, like a child who was just told she would be going to an amusement park. Then again, that seemingly boundless energy was a rather defining trait of the young Eisenberg, and in most cases an endearing one at that also.
However, today she had an extra reason to be cheerful because she might have stumbled onto an opportunity that was too great to resist. It all began when one of the lecturers of the school she attended to voiced how the school recommended for students to also try getting experience in the field, in fact, they even had set up a system for those students to be able to keep on following the lectures while also gaining that valuable work experience in the field. Of course, being the earnest hardworking girl that she was Elise had started searching through a few reliable sources after the lecture to see if she could find any worthwhile job offers. Whether it was working at a hospital or helping a doctor as their assistant, Elise didn't mind, but one particular job posting had drawn her attention like an ice-cream cone on a warm day.
It was a job offer to work as the assistant of a doctor who worked for a newly opened hero academy, U.A . Of course, for Elise this opportunity was too tempting for her to resist. Not only would she be able to gain more experience as an aspiring to-be doctor, but she also would get experience dealing with the injuries and complications that Quirk users had. Then again, none of it was as much a boon as the fact that her childhood friend Tetsuko attended the same school.
It was a chance she refused to allow to pass by, and as a result she had mailed the doctor with an introduction, and to her amazement she even received a reply the same day, offering for her to meet the doctor after school hours to discuss the position a bit more and the type of challenges and responsibilities she would come to face. Obviously, Elise was excited, to the point that as the train reached Mustafu she was still eagerly humming away.
"I believe the shop the doctor wanted me to meet her at was umm, around here?" In a worst case, she could call Tetsuko, but she wanted to keep this a surprise for her until their planned reunion. So instead after searching around for a bit longer she found the aforementioned shop and walked inside, already almost being overwhelmed by the scent of all the delicious pastries and snacks, and the sight of all those drinks was already making her get thirsty... Now all she had to do was find the good doctor, who considering she had arrived about 5 minutes on time might have already been here!
Still, despite her cheerful smile and energetic demeanor she had to admit she was slightly curious about what type of person the doctor would be. She knew it was a woman, and seemingly one experienced in the field also, but she had not heard much more aside from that so she felt intrigued at the opportunity to meet someone who dealt with so many variating patients on a daily base!

the nurse is out?! Well, well, what do we have here? I really don’t spend enough time enjoying Musutafu… Lifting her left hand up and pulling a few stray flecks of her fuchsia hair behind her ear as she caught her reflection in one of the windows of the little boutiques that she walked past, Sophie Sequoia glanced around one of the quieter and slightly less modern sections of the shopping district not too far from the UA campus and smiled to herself, enjoying the visual treat. These smaller shops seeming to put a little more effort into the charms that they offered in their window displays, while large stores seemed to have more resources and capability to plan, there was something to be said for the humbler and homelier approach. It had more heart.
I’m glad that I invited Miss Eisenberg to this part of town. Hopefully it might help her see that somewhere outside of Tokyo has a charm of its own? A little less hustle, bustle and office blocks and a bit more of a homely vibe… Taking in her surrounding as she moved toward a meeting with someone from the biggest of cities in Japan, while usually at time of day the doctor would have work in her infirmary to attend to, today was different. Dressed in her usually classy workwear and looking at stylish as ever as she strolled without a jacket in a black ruffled blouse and white pencil skirt that flared out at the bottom, special permission had been given to the young doctor to take the afternoon off, in a manner of speaking at least.
Offered the opportunity to head out and meet a promising young lady from a prestigious medical school in Tokyo that was considering a transfer to the campus that Miss Sequoia was teaching at, it would be considered something of a feather in cap for both the academy and her prospective addition to the curriculum. Offered the chance to build a fresh piece to add as an option to the education that the heroes of tomorrow might receive, while the blue eyed beauty had been employed to treat the students ills, several had expressed a desire to pursue a medical route in their development and this young physician had seemed the ideal candidate to guide them.
Excited by this of course, the biggest worry that Sophie felt right now was the concern that she might just be spreading herself a little bit too thinly. However, once her little group of ‘assistants’ were starting to show promise, that investment in time might just have helped the woman in the long run, affording her some extra pairs of hands on site if ever she needed them. Besides, if the program began to show promise, then funding would likely increase as well. It was a risk for certain but perhaps one worth taking, both for the school and the future of these aspiring heroes and heroines.
Now, where might this young lady be? All of these details pushed snugly into the back of Miss Sequoia’s mind for the time being as she ducked into the little coffee house she had arranged for their meeting to take place in, with a pleasing little jingle as she pushed the door open, the doctor slipped into her destination and began to scan the features of the faces inside. Choosing a place like this as a kind of ‘neutral ground’ for the pair of them, while the doctor could have invited her prospective student to the campus and spoken to her in their lounge or classroom, this seemed a more fitting meeting. Perhaps feeling a little bad for the girl that she had also had the travel from Tokyo to go through before getting here, since this café had a great reputation for both beverages and the snacks it provided, as her blue eyes washed over the gathering inside the charming little environment of western décor the beauty would hope to give the girl she met something of a treat to make up for that.
“Ah, Miss Eisenberg, it’s nice to finally meet! I trust you didn’t have too trying t a journey to get here?” Finally plucking out the face from the file she had looked up and striding over to a petit young thing that she had to admit had rather a pretty face in person, with a smile and a small wave the doctor slipped through the cosy setting and held out her hand to the teen to greet her. “Shall we find somewhere that we can get comfortable?” Smiling all the while and a little bit enthralled if only temporarily by the amber eyes that the maiden she was to meet possessed, after an admiring second or two Sophie fluttered her lashes and then looked across their setting, letting her guest choose the setting for this little meeting. Open to her both twin seated round tables and also a few comfortable chairs and couches near the walls, the pink haired woman was happy to go anywhere, especially if she got settle with company like this…

Elise Von Eisenberg Wanna-be doctor meets a real doctor
It was a rather pleasant surprise that the person she was supposed to meet today had chosen this location for their meeting. All things considered it was a choice she couldn't help but feel grateful for. While it was unlikely that Sophie had been aware of it, Elise was not entirely unfamiliar with the city of Mustafu. After all, it was the place that her childhood friend called her hometown, and as such she was somewhat familiar with the location. She always held a preference for the homely feeling that the less modern districts of the city provided, in comparison to Tokyo's hustle and bustle so when she had arrived at the small shop that was to be the backdrop of their meeting, Elise couldn't help but find herself quickly growing more comfortable by the moment. Still, her momentarily distraction was quickly washed away when a voice called out for her. "Ah~ Doctor Sophie~" As she turned toward the woman who approached her Elise smiled warmly at her, her own hand reaching out to give the fair lady a handshake while she shook her head lightly in response to the inquiry about her trip. "Fortunately I travel frequently between Mustafu and Tokyo so the journey has become somewhat of a habit to me." The girl confessed with a smile. While most would likely feel annoyed having to cross the busy crowds and deal with the hustle and bustle of the big city and then riding the train to Mustafu, Elise never seemed to be affected by those feelings of annoyance or lethargy some of the people tended to display.
As she nodded her head lightly in agreement for them to take a seat Elise noticed there was a comfortable-looking and modestly secluded part of the shop, one, in particular, was a booth with a pair of couches and a table in between them which was a nice distance from the other seats, giving them an excellent opportunity to converse without needing to bother the nearby guests with all their chatter.
"Likewise, I hope it wasn't too much of a problem for you to come all the way here, considering the rise of interest in proper education for those who possess Quirks I can imagine Yūei Kōkō has its hands full with all the students~"
Her tone was soft and gentle, and while there was a certain degree of politeness in it, the girl sounded less like she was talking to a superior and more like a friend she respected. "Although, I'm surprised you picked this place~ Tetsu--- I mean my childhood friend who attends your school often comments how the drinks and snacks here are delicious, but due to the smaller size of the shop and the lack of impressions it gives from the outside few actually know how great this place is."
Elise remarked with a grin as she looked around with a satisfied smile. "Although I spend most of my childhood in Japan, I originally lived in a small rural town in Germany, so this part of the city fills me with nostalgia~" Sometimes she did wonder what would have happened to her if her parents didn't enroll into that government-managed research project. "But I guess we aren't exactly here to listen to me rambling on about my childhood~" She added in jest, a soft smile lingering upon her lips as she waited for the waitress to arrive, upon which she would make her order. "For me some apple juice and..." after a cursory glance of the menu she added with a smile. "Something light to snack on please~ preferred something fruity~"
And then it was time to focus back on the subject at hand. "Could you please tell me a bit more about Yūei Kōkō? Although most know it as a newly created project from the government to provide proper education for people with Quirks, and the help for them to gain a mastery over their gifts in the hope that they will contribute positively to society as a new generation of Heroes, I was a bit surprised when I read about there being a General Studies branch."
She had to admit it did strike her as odd for a school focused on heroics to also teach things not related to the matter. "For example what does the curriculum at the school contain? Although I am quite delighted at an opportunity to attend the same school as my childhood friend, unlike her I don't hold the desire or interest to become a 'hero'." She paused for a moment, a hand raised to the back of her head as she continued to explain with a somewhat bemused look on her face. "At least in the traditional sense of the word. In comic books it's usually the heroes who are fighting the bad guys to save everyone... but I hate violence, so as a result, I vowed to myself to become a doctor so that I could be a 'different' type of hero. One who saves those who suffer from the consequences of those conflicts and acts of violence, but also someone who simply wants to help improve the health of people in their everyday lives. So I never really considered myself suited for a school that people considered a 'school for heroes', in the end, it's not often that people realize that doctors are heroes in their own way~"
A brief smile lingered on her lips as she waited to hear the good doctor's reaction.

the teacher?! is in One can be a hero without ever throwing a punch or kick... So, she’s in the area regularly? I wonder if I’ll get to find out why…? Raising an eyebrow of intrigue as her appointed maiden mentioned to her that she was quite accustomed to visiting the area, while Sophie had wondered if she might have family or friends in the area that were something of a motivation for the possible transfer, she chose not to delve to deeply in the moment.
Ah, nice choice… Comfortable and little risk of disturbance. Following her fellow femme to the choice of ‘venue’ for their little get together and finding herself rather happy with the choice, after letting Elise take her choice of seat the pink haired doctor slipped into the opposite one and rested the portfolio she had brought with her on the table between them. All bound up for the moment so it wouldn’t let on what was inside, the leather item had the look of something professional but its owner hoped it wouldn’t make her look too stuffy since she wanted her guest to relax and be herself. This was a friendly meeting, not a formal interview, after all.
“Oh heavens, well I’m hopeful that the students can go an hour or two without needing serious medical attention. It might be a stretch given how rowdy some can be but luckily I made sure to set this day and time so that they’d be in less intensive sessions…” Smiling as the polite concern that she had shown was returned by this youngster, Miss Sequoia leaned over to one side to rest her elbow on the arm of the soft furnishing she was sitting on in order to promote that easy-going atmosphere and because it was rather a comfortable position to be in, really. Hooking her fingers into her hair as she supported her lower neck with her hand as she did so, like when she met other souls she found pretty the blue eyed beauty couldn’t help but toy with her fuchsia locks a little as she looked this teenage girl over and gave a playful but hopefully reassuring answer.
I can see her turning a lot of heads, with a few specific ones coming to mind… Those with good looks and great smarts the type she tended to gravitate toward the easiest, the young doctor would need to be careful not to get too friendly with the femme if she was going to be her student. Such things no doubt causing trouble if they got out of hand, all the same the naughty nurse could already see how certain blonde and red haired students she had gotten to know might enjoy the company she had right now, and honestly Sophie couldn’t blame them!
So, a friend at UA? Is that a reason why she wants to change? Given a clue toward the mystery that she was silently trying to unravel rather quickly really, while the foxy femme was used to being the one leading the conversation usually, she didn’t mind this change of pace too much really. “Oh yes, I stopped by here for a bite on a day off not too long ago and it convinced me to show it off to you! No sense forcing ourselves into a stuffy office or cafeteria with this on the doorstep, is there?” Of course never rude and happy to engage, really the fact that this youngster seemed to go out of her way to engage with her was a good sign. Really, UA wanted people who wished to stand out from the pack, and moreover if she was going to be a student of medicine at the school, it was a good sign she wasn’t easily intimidated either.
“Oh, a fellow non-native! I wondered that given the name, though with how international travel has become such details aren’t always so accurate in this age, are they?” The smile that Sophie carried growing larger as her café companion confessed her Germanic roots, the young doctor used the opportunity to express some of her own bubbly nature and soon found she was gushing with information for her companion. “I myself happen to be from a small town not much of a drive from Seattle in Washington State, though from the sounds of things you’ve been here much longer than me, Miss Eisenberg. I came over about five years ago to complete my residency and have been here ever since, aside from Christmas visits back home and that sort of thing…” Immediately thinking of the home and parents she had come from as well as the well forested and often wet environment, even though Elise hailed from an entirely different part of the world compared to her, the woman with sapphire eyes still felt a sense of kinship with her fellow non-native all the same.
“Well, I’m in no rush to get back and I’m sure the story would be a charming enough way to spend my time, so don’t feel the need to curb yourself, dear~” Perhaps letting the level of affection she was gaining so quickly for this youngster get the better of her as she brushed away the notion that the girl was in any way rambling, even if it wasn’t the most professional action, Miss Sequoia couldn’t help but flash a wink at the teen in the hopes of reassuring her.
“Ah yes, something fruity in this heat does sound refreshing. Do you have any of those mint and lime smoothies that are so wonderful? Oh and perhaps one of those feather-light raspberry muffins as well?” The waitress appearing before Sophie could get too heavily invested in playful reassurance, the young woman decided to vent a little of her friendliness toward coffee house worker and shone her smile in the direction of the public servant as she gave her own request, even going as far as to flutter her lashes a little.
“Oh and, naturally my guests orders should be put on my own bill. It's my treat today!” Touching the arm of their servant to make sure she couldn’t skip off before she ensured that as the host she would fit the bill for everything today, even if it was a nice gesture to make for the most part the pink haired doctor would have been happy to do it anyway. Staying in her lab a lot of the time with work or projects she wanted to oversee so the considerable salary she could command as a physician tended to pile up, other than nice clothes and living expenses the woman had little to spend her money on really, and Miss Sequoia had even been considering getting a road bike partly because she’d always wanted one and as something of a status symbol. It was nice to be young and flush with money.
“Ah yes, the meat of the matter so to speak. I suppose we haven’t met up simply for the purpose of exchanging anecdotes and fluttering our lashes~” With the matter of refreshment taken care of her companion seeming to be keen on getting onto something a little serious in their discussion, while Sophie might have been happy to chat with this girl pretty much indefinitely, there were more important topics to attend to and she could appreciate the interest that the student demonstrated. Clearly having looked into things to a reasonably close degree given the level of understanding that the Tokyo teen showed in the new school, Elise seemed to have her reservations about aspects that a lot of other UA candidates seemed to relish, and that was refreshing.
“Yes, while sometimes a necessity, there are more aspects essential to a top hero than the simple ability to break the ranks of villain’s through physical force…” As a fellow follower of the medical philosophy, while the skills of Miss Sequoia in martial arts meant that she could kick a little ass when she needed to, she wasn’t particularly fond of or predisposed to such deeds. The focus she had found back in her own days in a more active capacity more in the realms of protecting and helping to heal the innocents rather than beat enemies into submission, as such inclinations appeared to be shared by her companion, the pink haired physician could see a little bit better why she might be the perfect girl to ‘woo’ her. And it wasn’t just because of her good looks.
“It is certainly true that the Heroics Course that UA provides tends to offer a lot of training in how to handle problems posed by violence, in spite of the attention it has received in media reception, my school can offer a lot more than just that.” Lifting her hand from her hair and using it to pull her pink locks back behind her ears a little more tidily, as she was offered a chance to really talk up the school she was posted at, Sophie got to work with gusto. “The general studies class that you have an inclination toward attending offering a broader range of topics to tackle, essentially the whole purpose of such classes are to provide education and experience to students who much like yourself would prefer to do good without doing harm to others in the process?” Forever a woman that loved to chat about the things she enjoyed and impress others with her expertise, the gushing that the girl could indulge in served a purpose for both herself and the woman with which she met, being informative whilst also giving the blue eyed beauty a little bit of a chance to show off.
“I’m not sure if you are familiar with the pro hero known as Henir’s Chain, but he has an entire class dedicated to the rescue and relief efforts that quirk users can offer to those afflicted by natural disasters. Despite my official position being that as their medic and head of the infirmary, I myself am currently in the process of creating a curriculum meant to offer aspiring heroes the chance to take steps toward becoming professional caregivers, and we also offer education in the field of business as well.” Shifting her position has her passion for oration got the better of her, from the reclined sideways slant the doctor moved into a more animated and passionate lean forward, unconsciously gesturing giddily as she lost herself to her zeal. “General studies is essentially there for people who wish to provide support to people without engaging in combat, so I would speculate that if this is where your interest lies, it may be very well suited to you?” Hoping that the talk she gave would help her young friend feel a little more informed about the decision she was going to make, while Miss Sequoia was happy to elaborate on her points and answer further questions, in going through the key notes of the topic she already could sense a strong connection between the goals of Elise and what UA could offer her.
“In fact, I could talk all day about what the school could give you, but so that things are quite clear, you should have this perhaps? In many ways UA is like a college or university. Students can choose the classes they wish to attend beyond the basic educational subjects, so provided you have no conflicts it’s easy to build a syllabus tailor made to your requirements?” Smiling at the young woman in front of her and then leaning forward to pick up the portfolio she had brought, the doctor unfastened the item and pulled out both a brochure filled with the standard forms of education and the specialist subjects as well as a short overview she had created herself. Offering part of the proposal she had created when approaching the board with the idea of setting up a small class of students to dip into matters, it featured the outline of topics she wished to cover from basic first aid to more advanced topics, many of which she hoped to include hands on experience in and might hopefully tip the decision one way or another in the mind of an aspiring physician as to whether the course was suited to them or not…

"Make sure to remind me to thank you later~" Elise remarked with a playful wink at the doctor's decision to pay for the snacks and drinks. In the end, she listened attentively to Sophie's explanations about the school, realizing she might have bombarded the fair lady with a rather large assortment of questions. Then again, considering this was a senior if the medical field that she had the opportunity to talk to Elise obviously wasn't going to let that opportunity to waste, hoping to learn as much as possible from the doctor. "Hmm~" She started, a pondering look upon her visage when after a moment of consideration she began to speak. "If you were to speak from personal opinion Sophie" She dropped the proper way of Japanese addressing and the doctor part in favor of a more casual and friendly tone as she continued. "What do you consider noteworthy subjects for a medically inclined person to take?"
Surely a tricky question, but she soon clarified further "It's not every day I get the opportunity to have a senior in the field all to myself~" She giggled softly at the innuendo before continuing her inquiry. "So I'd love to learn more about your view and outlook on things. In the end, you possess a much greater collection of knowledge and experience than me, so you'll have to forgive me if I want to try to squeeze out some of it to make an informed decision on the matter of what subjects I would pursue."

the teacher?! is in Innovation wonn't come from doing things the same way forever... “Thank you, so much~” The big bombardment of information that she had offered to Elise enabling the waitress to get their orders together, as she waited to see how her café companion might digest and react to what she had been told, Miss Sequoia was pleased to see the refreshments arrive in the meantime. I really DO need to come here more often. Offering a bright smile and even a habitual bat of her lasses to the sweet young woman with curly orange hair and thick rimmed glasses that laid down their drinks and snacks to be consumed at their leisure, in those quiet moments the doctor was afforded a little extra time to see the ‘charms’ their environment offered as she left her focus drift a little from the female in front of her, and had to admit she liked what she saw. However, while this inspired the blue eyed beauty to be rather generous with the tip she would give, there were more pertinent matters for her attention.
“Oh? I suppose it is nice to get the chance to pick the brain of someone who has achieved what you seek?” Perfectly understanding of the urge that her pretty piece of company possessed to get her advice on what she needed to do in future, after picking up the drink that the cute waitress with curly hair had brought her and sipping some of that sweet and refreshing juice within it, Sophie smiled and set it back down on the table as she summoned the best list of options that she could offer.
“Naturally, I’d expect you already know you’ll need to gain a pretty advanced understanding of the principle scientific disciplines of chemistry and biology, a touch of biomechanics and sports science might never go amiss as well? Those that test their bodies regularly often offer the greatest insight into ailments?” Gently shrugging as she skimmed over the most basic of things that this teen would need to show mastery in given her position in a prestigious Tokyo academy, it seemed silly to go into too much detail on subjects that Miss Sequoia expected the girl would already know, though she did mention something a little outside the box in case that Elise hadn’t thought of it. The doctor herself having found some unconventional but useful experience given by the coaches of her own high school, while they weren’t as medically sound as the school nurse she had, they did help her more easily pick up the signs and indicators of injuries as well as deficiencies that might affect performance. The body was a temple to a sports enthusiast so it was a good place to go to find the best specimens of human health as well as also what might take that away.
“As to what UA itself can offer you specifically, well given our meeting should you choose to transfer I will naturally accommodate and expect you in my own classes in medical care, but I think there’s another little jewel in the crown for someone with your aspirations that I doubt any other school in the country could offer…” The pink haired woman understanding however that what her cherry haired companion was most looking for was advice and topics that might set both Sophie and her school apart from a regular school, she quickly moved onto the boons which her academy could offer including her own expertise of course.
“Rescue Operations! I mentioned Cian-sensei earlier on, but from a personal level I think I would be a much better pro hero today if I had the chance to learn how to handle disasters from an expert? In my opinion, the class should also help you learn the critical thinking and ability to cope in high pressure environments one will need as a doctor, and as any form of medical relief?” And yet as much as she could give the girl personally, that didn’t fully feel like it would cover everything that could really tempt Elise into a transfer. Sure she was capable of mimicking the advanced course that she herself had taken to train in medicine, but Miss Sequoia knew that there was great expertise in the school beyond what she could offer personally, and to the pink haired woman they seemed perfectly suited in helping this pretty girl become a kind of hero even she could look up to one day…

Chemistry and Biology seemed like natural subjects for her to take, in the end even if her quirk could be considered a wonder medicine, it still was something she preferred to not rely on. After all, it would belittle her future talent as a doctor if she constantly sought the easy way out, and what if she couldn't use her Quirk? Relying on it too much would... She shook her head lightly to clear the thoughts as she listened attentively to Sophie's explanations. It seemed that the school had a large assortment of courses available, almost like a regular prestigious academy, but it appeared they possessed something that Sophie believed other schools were woefully lacking. "Rescue Operations?" The girl mused softly, recalling the name the doctor had mentioned before.
It certainly was an option to consider, being able to help in a hospital was one thing, but if she truly wanted to help save people, she needed to be able to do that anywhere and anytime, even in a disaster area. She raised a hand to her cheek, tapping it lightly as she wondered about the idea. Yes, learning from an expert on how to stay calm and provide aid during those moments would be a critical skill for her to acquire, especially if she wanted to keep 'her' safe. "Of course I'll be attending each and every lecture you will provide~ Although, I have to admit that this 'Rescue Operations' does intrigue me." It might have been dangerous to help people in such situations, but if she could save them, then surely it was worth it, right?
Taking a sip from her drink she decided to ask another question that left her a bit curious. "Sophie~ Why did you join U.A's faculty? What do you believe that the school can provide to society?" An interesting question for sure, it seemed that despite her cheerful tone she really was taking this matter seriously, wasn't she?

the teacher?! is in As they say, "Pobody's Nerfect"~ “Good, good. Cian has his odd little idiosyncrasies but he certainly seems to know his stuff. Already I’ve seen a fair few students of his who could be assets in disasters even though school has only been in session a matter of weeks?” Thinking about their resident rescue expert and finding herself a little amused by his peculiarities and penchant for never revealing his face, while he seemed an odd fellow at times, the recent effort of the students in an unexpected mishap stuck out in the mind of Miss Sequoia as a prime example of what UA educators were capable of.
“He’s also a thorough man, so while you might enter a little behind the curve I expect he’ll be willing to offer you extra classes to help you catch up? I do know already that he holds extra classes for those who want to develop their abilities further or if people are lagging behind…” A carnival going completely out of control as wild and dangerous animals had been let loose, fires tore thought the area and even stranger effects accosted the visitors but from first-hand experience Sophie had seen what the fruits of the education that her youngsters had received. Stepping into action and holding back the tide of the event alongside her while Pro Heroes and relief workers arrived, the beauty with blue eyes had found herself more assured than ever of the good her school could do one day. If this was how they handled an event after only a month or so of classes, just how good would their alumni be after they graduated? It was an interesting thought to muse over.
“Me? Welll…” A little surprised as Elise asked her about why she had taken up her post in the school but after a moment realizing it was likely a natural query, Miss Sequoia lifted up her drink and took another sip from it as she thought about her motivations for joining all those months ago, before any student had even stepped foot inside the grounds. “Honestly, this might seem a little callous but I was most excited by the research opportunity that the position seemed to represent?” Blushing a little as she confessed that a big part of her motivation had been because to a degree she saw it as an opportunity to study the all quirk student body, while she hadn’t really been planning madcap experiments and stuff, the phenomenon and application of abilities had indeed always fascinated her.
“The truth is that one of my biggest motivations for coming to Japan was because the country seemed to have a much better ‘handle’ on how to approach quirk powers, and I’d been fascinated by my own and others abilities ever since discovering them?” Dragging her fingers back through those fuchsia locks and looking toward the ceiling with a small smile as she recalled the details of her younger years, Sophie could see herself as a little girl looking through her microscope at her Aqua Vitae emissions and marvelling, really she hadn’t ran into that many others with abilities like her own until she moved to Japan. The odd soul here and there but it had felt like stepping into a new world when the blue eyed woman had arrived in Yokohama. It was a world where she felt like she belonged.
“So to me, as much as I would like to confess that the entirety of my motivation was to foster and protect a new generation of heroes, I would be lying if I didn’t also admit that with a student body comprised entirely of people in a stage of their life where they were exploring and developing their weird and wonderful abilities it seemed a wonderful chance to get experience in a field I loved?” The next recollection of Miss Sequoia seeming to move to the days near the end of her medical residency, for the most part she had been looking over offers of acceptance for hospitals in Tokyo and had been close to accepting some, it was the news about the establishment of the Hero Association that had really changed her mind. Deciding to go ‘legit’ from her previous role as a vigilante, after looking over her qualifications and desire to work as a hero part-time in tandem with hospital work, she had been clued into a new institution in the works.
Told about a school that would be for quirk users alone that would be hoping to turn students into a new breed of emergency service and the need that it would have to grab someone with the necessary expertise needed to cope with the mishaps that such an endeavour might lead to, while the intend might not have been to give the young doctor something that looked like an ideal ‘playground’ for her curiosity, she had seen it much as that. While on paper she would have only been tantamount to a school nurse in such a position and some might have seen that and scoffed of how far it was beneath her talents, her position at UA had promised and delivered at being far more interesting than some post in a hospital or surgery.
“I’m not sure if that makes it sound like I’m exploiting the situation or not, but really since I want you to be able to trust in what I tell you and in the place that I represent, I feel it’s better to give you the truth than a sales pitch?” Closing her eyes and then letting out a small sigh as she let herself fall out of this requested reminiscence and then focusing her blue eyes upon the young woman in front of her, Sophie could see that what she had said might have seemed somewhat selfish to her prospective student, but at the same time thought it important to be honest with the girl. If she switched schools based on half-truths, even if they were well intentioned, that could lead to rather a rough time once Elise learned that UA was not everything she had been led to believe and would only damage the future of the femme if she chose a school that was wrong for her, wouldn’t it?

So despite the relative short period since its founding the government had been able to enlist people who, by all rights could be said to be experts in their field of expertise? If this Cian was able to mold several students to already be assets during disasters after only a few weeks he must had known his stuff, but also possessed a certain ability to pass his wisdom and skills onto others. It was one thing to be skilled, but an entirely different matter to properly train someone.
"It is reassuring to hear that he is willing to offer extra lessons for me to catch up with the other students." the burgundy-haired lass answered with a smile. Of course, she had been oblivious to the events that had happened in Musutafu, after all she had been in Tokyo at that time, and only rare watched the news, if something important happened she usually heard it from her dad or through word of mouth during conversations. And so she waited to listen to Sophie's explanation about the reason she had joined the faculty at U.A
"It's true..." The girl started, a hand raised to her cheek as she pondered softly. "It seems that compared to the rest of the world Japan is having a better grasp on how to approach quirk powers. While some might think that laws are enough to deal with this, the truth remains that quirks change our society, our way of living. People suddenly started developing powers which by all means would only happen in comics or video games, and yet here we are~" She gently scooped a piece of the small fruitcake to her lips and chewed softly onto it. "People fear the unknown, something the past generations have proven quite strongly, and as more and more people start to appear with quirks it could lead to a disaster if no action is taken. The development of an educational program, laws, medical treatments for people with quirks who suffer certain complications. If we don't want our society to collapse, it needs to evolve in a way it has never done before."
Listening to Sophie's admission of her reason for becoming a teacher at the school Elise giggled softly in amusement. "ufufufu~" she began in a fake evil laugh "That almost sounds like something a scientist would say about the experiments she adores so much." A playful shake of her head followed as she smiled softly at the woman. "Just kidding~ I appreciate your honesty. To be entirely honest, my reason for showing interest has a selfish side also~"
She paused for a moment, her gaze softening as she thought about a recent memory and soon explained with a smile. "My precious childhood friend, the reason I want to become a doctor attends your school. To be able to continue learning medicine while being so close to her? Of course, that's an offer I can't refuse~"
If this meant being able to be at Tetsuko's side, then obviously she would be interested. "Of course, I would need to convince my parents first also. Considering my family it might take a bit of effort for me to convince them that the heiress to a pharmaceutical legacy ends up going to a 'hero school'." She chuckled for a moment, as if she had just told a joke before she realized something important. "Umm, I guess it's likely that at some point they will be requesting information about... my quirk." she hesitated, seemingly uncomfortable about the matter. "Is there a way for me to keep it confidential from the student-body? It's... a weird power." she admitted, her cheeks turning slightly red from embarrassment.

the teacher?! is in Goodness, tell me what makes you blush then, my dear~ Oh so she’s a bit of a naughty one, is she? The brow of Miss Sequoia lifting at the playful manner that her companion demonstrated before sinking back down, the corners of the pink haired woman’s mouth curled upward at this mischief that was demonstrated. Perhaps having spent a little too much time around naïve souls like the pure hearted Miss Kurama, the young doctor couldn’t help but feel a little bit ticked by the joke as she had a tendency to go without contact with those of a wickeder mind for long spells at a time. Such was the life of a school nurse, she supposed.
Precious childhood friend? And a ‘her’ is it? I can’t help but wonder how precious their connection is? Reminded of the instance earlier on where Elise had hinted that her choice might have been guided by the presence of a certain individual at UA, the naughty minded nurse couldn’t help but wonder just how close the two might be that this talented youngster might want to change from the prestigious academy that she attended in order to take up with the heroic sort. Certainly seeming like it was at least at the ‘best friend’ level of the spectrum for this unknown girl to have such a hold over the young beauty in front of her, while it was a little bad on her behalf, Sophie hoped that the connection went a little deeper than that.
“Are you perhaps looking to use what you might learn to help this girl? Would you mind if I asked if she is in the heroic classes?” Not one for relationships and yet intrigued by a bond that made this something that the brunette couldn’t refuse, such strong devotion felt like the sort of thing that would be rewarding to see how it developed. After all, even if she herself never thought about committing to someone, that didn’t mean that the blue eyed beauty didn’t enjoy a good story of love now and then. So more out of personal curiosity than professional interest, Miss Sequoia couldn’t help prying just a little bit.
“As to the nature of your quirk, from a purely official perspective, I don’t see that being much of a problem. Naturally the members of the faculty who need to know your ability such as myself and your teachers will be given the ability profile that you were registered with, however this information is confidential. Unfortunately…” Raising her brow and running her hand back through her hair again as she mulled over the concern that her companion had, despite the worries of the girl, Sophie found no way she could really give a yes or no answer to such a query. Perhaps at face value things seeming a simple issue, there was no reason for staff members to break protocol and go blabbing about personal information to the student body, but at the same time the pink haired doctor could immediately see problem that would brew up sooner or later.
“The problem would be that I would imagine that over the course of your training you likely will need to rely on your quirk to help yourself or others, so I imagine that eventually word will get out about what you can do? Quirk training is an inherent part of the syllabus for both Heroics and General Studies, as I understand it.” The simple fact was that for all intents and purposes UA was a place where quirk users were going to be trained, and even if someone was shy about their abilities, it was still something they would need to demonstrate to develop their skill with it. The nature of these strange skills seeming to be much like muscles in that they grew more potent as one used and pushed their power to its fullest, given the intensity of the education it seemed rather a difficult prospect to get through the course without putting ones all, quirk included, into what was presented.
“What is it about your quirk that makes you feel it’s strange or difficult?” The reply she had given feeling a bit dismissive of the concerns that her café companion had shown, after shifting further forward to create a sense of intimacy and privacy between them, Miss Sequoia decided that maybe the best way to solve such a problem would be to assess the specifics of the matter. Certainly some abilities tricky to use and some even embarrassing, whatever the ability of the girl it wouldn’t have been the first time that the doctor might have thought of a clever work around to make a quirk more bearable. After all, she had already solved the problem of a girl who needed to harm herself to use her blood based abilities with a rather simple medical tool, so maybe all Elise needed was a fresh perspective on her power to help her feel more at ease about it?

A gentle nod was made by Elise in return to Sophie's question, a little blush emerging on her cheeks as she smiled sheepishly at the doctor. "Mhmm~ I believe she is in the B-course. Her name is Tetsuko Shindou." She paused for a moment, finding her heart warm up just as thinking about her childhood friend. "We knew each other since we were children. Ever since our first meeting she has always been there for me~ Always protected me, always helped me, she truly is the best friend I could ever wish for." Her cheeks turning redder she added with a little grin. "If only she would not be so dense to realize I love her even more than that~ But yes, I want to become a doctor to support her."
After all, Tetsuko was quite a reckless girl, so it was only natural she wanted to be able to help keep her safe. However, as the conversation turned toward her Quirk her smile faded and the blush disappeared, her gaze averting slightly. "It's because my Quirk is disgusting." Harsh words, but it was how she truly felt, something she would clarify soon. "My... bodily fluids are different from others." a short pause followed where she inhaled softly, taking a deep breath to prepare herself for the next part. "According to the doctors and scientists who looked into my Quirk it seems my body fluids possess an unusual property to them. A peculiar substance they can't identify, but if one comes into contact with it they end up feeling a restorative and purifying effect."
She raised a hand to her other arm, clutching it lightly as she continued. "Because the most potent and easy to use fluids without endangering myself are my saliva and sweat, well there is another but umm... I... I never used it for such a thing before." Oh gods, she didn't even want to imagine someone having to deal with that! "Although I can heal people by kissing or licking them, or even by hugging them, it doesn't help that on the surface nobody sees me as a Quirk User. Even in middle school, I was called a Pretender and a Pervert because of this."
Her hand tightened lightly around her arm, the subject clearly an uncomfortable one. "That's why I don't want the others to know... I don't want to see Tetsu being bothered by the opinions others will make of me if they were to discover my quirk."

the teacher?! is in The key to growth is accepting the self Disgusting? A slight knot appearing in the brow of Miss Sequoia as she listened to the word that Elise used to describe her ability, while such a term might have been used to describe quirks generally in the past, times had for the most part changed. Is there something undesirable about her ability? Attitudes were different now than they had been ten or twenty years ago, so to hear the term come from one young enough to have met with more accepting attitudes had to imply there was a problem personally for the girl in how her quirk functioned. It wasn’t that far from the realms of possibility really, as some of these peculiarities could be rather odd to employ.
“Heheheheheheh… It would appear we have more in common than you might think, Miss Eisenberg?” Listening with patience and a sense of curiosity as the girl spelled out the features of her quirk, while the young woman seemed distressed by the fact that her saliva and other emissions might carry an odd effect, to Sophie it only made her feel closer to the girl. The ability that she possessed herself seeming to have similar restorative effects from liquids she could excrete, while it would be a misnomer to say that it was her sweat that was responsible, for visual purposes it was hard to differentiate as the nurse was about to demonstrate.
“Honestly, I’ve never really thought of this fluid that I can produce as dirty or disgusting, despite the fact it is for all intents and purposes a product from my body…” Lifting her hand up in the air above the table that they were talking across and then activating her own ability, Miss Sequoia let out a small sigh as she summoned some of that fluid that she refined and stored within herself and clear for the brunette opposite let her watch as it oozed down her arm to form a small pool within her palm. The watery solution she had created almost indistinguishable from what one might find in a bottle or leaking from a tap and giving off a subtle glow, while it wasn’t the same as saliva or sweat it was still a little strange to see it ooze from her pores, but the beauty with blue eyes had always been more riveted than repulsed by both the substance and how she produced it.
“Ultimately, my Aqua Vitae has always been something that carries an inherently nurturing quality, I find?” Opting to take her little ‘show’ a step further by lifting up one of the knives that had been arranged on the table in case people had something more substantial to eat, with a little grunt the doctor dragged her thumb down it forcefully enough to break the skin and then presented the minor laceration to her companion so she could see the damage she had done. Perhaps seeming a masochist in the moment but this injury the best way to document what she had done, as blood leaked down her thumb she suddenly thrust it into the gathering of watery material she had created and let out a little gasp as her quirk took effect.
So tingly, when I haven’t needed to do it for a while, I always forget? Noticing the way that her wounded digit seemed to gain sensations as if dozens of microscopic needles were dancing on her skin, she felt a small shiver pass through her body and let out a sigh as the sensation stopped, pulling her thumb from the now reddened pool and demonstrating that not only was it clean but also any sign of her injury had vanished completely in a matter of seconds. “Now, I have no right to tell you what you should and shouldn’t feel comfortable doing, but if your gift is anything like mine then it is certainly a special one?” Grasping a few napkins in her now healed hand and then using them to dab up the mix of her leftover Aqua Vitae and the blood she had spent in the show she had put on, once her hands were relatively clean and dry Sophie plucked a couple of items from her portfolio that she habitually carried as continued to converse with the girl before her.
“There are so many quirks that wreak destruction, but ones that can heal are a rarity in my experience, so it would be a shame to hide them away? Besides…” Continuing to talk as she stuffed the bloody napkins into a surgical glove that would act as a kind of tiny trash back for them, after this the doctor opened up some nice antibacterial wipes and rubbed her hands clean just to be sure she’d killed any possible nasties and then stuffed those in her airtight glove too before tying a knot in the bottom.
“If it were me, I wouldn’t mind one bit a young woman like yourself coming along to kiss my hurt better~” Chucking gently as she lay her improvised container of bio-waste on top of the flat carrying case she had brought along and then let her blue gaze settle of the face of the femme sat in front of her, while it was a little naughty she couldn’t help but offer a little flirtatious flattery now that she knew the wicked manner in which the young woman’s quirk worked. Maybe her non-committal lifestyle made it a bit easier for Miss Sequoia to take such matters flippantly, but really was a little kiss or hug given to a stranger any worse than a friendly greeting?

A sorrowful look lingered on Elise's face, yet when she saw Sophie's demonstration of her quirk Elise let out a soft gasp of disbelief at the similar nature of the doctor's power as she called her power a 'special' one. "My quirk still... hurts those I care for." She answered with a feeble whisper as she lowered her gaze for a moment. The memory started to surface, a memory of the distant past as she found herself opening up one of her darkest secrets to the doctor, one even her childhood friend didn't know.
"There is a reason I have never lashed out in anger at someone, not once in my life. Because I once nearly got my father killed." A painful confession, and one that surely would bring forth a lot of questions. "In Germany, the tolerance for quirks isn't as high as here, and in a small town like where I was born, some still cling to that intolerant attitude. I still remember it vividly. My father and I were returning from the park near our home when a group of adults started yelling at me. They said... hateful things, calling me a monster among various other insults and taunts. Of course, with the laws in place they couldn't actually harm me, but the things they said were painful enough to make me break out in tears, asking my father why I was a bad girl."
Her hand tightened lightly around her fork as she continued the story. "I never seen my father get angry before, he always has been a really kind and caring person, but something snapped within him. He fought those people, a brawl followed... But my father is a pharmacist, not a fighter and as a result he was beaten very badly. The police had to interfere, and my father was send to the hospital... where he remained in a comatose for two weeks."
She looked up at Sophie, tears gathering in her eyes as she stated in a painful and clearly griefing tone. "Do you know how horrible it is? The feeling of guilt that it was because of me that my father nearly died? Because I was born with this 'power'? If he had a normal daughter he could have avoided that... but instead because of me..." She shook her head lightly as if to try to expel the thought. "Since then I always tried to hide my tears, to hide my suffering and smile whenever I can, so that others don't get hurt because of me..."
Yet hearing the words spoken by the doctor made her cheeks flush up lightly. "If only more pretty ladies like yourself thought like that, then there might at least been a redeeming quality to this power..." she mumbled in embarrassment.

the teacher?! is in I feel like I need a podium and some 'Amens' How awful… I was lucky that my parents and most people accepted my quirk? To think that there are still some people in the world who hold quirks with contempt… Human minds can be more inflexible than any rock! The story that Miss Eisenberg offered one that honestly surprised Sophie, and not in a good way, she remained quiet as she went over the details and frankly found herself a little appalled by it. Running into some in her younger life whose jealousy and xenophobia had prompted them to call her ugly words but thing never progressing past that point, to think that there were communities where things would go as far as gang violence horrified the doctor, but there was something else about the tale that disturbed her even more.
Though that isn’t half as heart breaking as the notion that she considers herself responsible for the ignorant attitudes of others? The knotted brow of Miss Sequoia caused mostly by the way that from her perspective the innocent creature in front of her seemed to be absorbing the blame, an act that was apparently causing quite the consternation to Elise, which was worrying to say the least. The pink haired woman deciding that it was her responsibility to do something about this, with such a sweet and talented girl it seemed a waste to let her wallow in the pitfalls of guilt when she didn’t need to. Naturally she had no idea if her words would be enough to make any difference to a person who was practically a stranger to her, but the blue eyed beauty felt she had to try even if all she could do was offer a rational viewpoint.
“If I’m honest, as awful as that story is, I think you’re looking at it the wrong way my dear?” The life of a doctor helping her to see things a little more clearly and rationally than most, the fuchsia haired woman knew that there were times when she needed to speak her mind and this felt like one of them. Slowly moving her hand across the table and letting out a small sigh as she did so, Sophie lightly rested her hand on top of that of her companion despite the fact that it might have seemed a little overly familiar and gently squeezed her hand.
“I don’t really think that a girl like you would intentionally incite such a situation did you?” Elise free to pull her hand away from Miss Sequoia’s if she felt uncomfortable but the UA nurse leaving her arm out there if she needed the comforting touch of another, with a raised brow and a half smile the older and wiser of the two tilted her head to one side as she tried to let reason shatter this strange viewpoint to benefit the girl opposite her. “And I’m sure you didn’t inflict the harm on your father directly, did you?” Closing her eyes next and shaking her head lightly as if the question needed no answer, if one broke the issue down to its key points it was easy to see how mistaken this brunette was. Likely she had already done this herself, but hearing a person affirm what one believed could often help as well.
“It’s true that it is horrendous what happened to your father, but is it really right for anyone, yourself included, to blame the birth of an innocent girl for it? I mean, you had no more power in the cause or prevention of such a sorrowful moment in your life as you might have in making the sun set at midday or turning the sky green?” Opening her eyes again and leaning a little ways across the table so that the troubled teen could see the blueness and sincerity that they carried, Sophie shone with softness and sympathy as she looked at the girl that she was meeting with, certainly going above and beyond the remit of this casual introduction but not minding that one bit. Not specializing in psychology at all but wanting to heal any wound that this young woman might have in any way she could, the pink haired doctor’s innate compassion fired her spirit up immensely and she felt more determined to save Miss Eisenberg with every word she spoke.
“This isn’t your burden to bear, Elise. The responsibility lies solely with the brutes who committed that act sweetie, and never ever with you.” Radiating warmth that was fuelled by a fire burning brightly within her hear and behind her eyes, though Miss Sequoia was almost as far from familiar with the student in front of her as one could get, she would fight against the notion that blighted this brunette beauty with everything she had.
“So don’t let those beasts colour your judgement and make you think the same way they did, young lady! Fight against the notion and find a way to discover a little beauty in what you can do every day, so that way they will claim no victory. They did not break your father, he got better, and they will not break you either, right?” Perhaps a little bit of that blazing inner drive within her seeming to force its way to the surface the longer that she talked, with one hand offered out to comfort her companion while the other became a shaking ball, Sophie laid out an edict that felt to her like it had a hint of poetry about it.
“Prove it, not to them or anyone else but rather yourself, that your ability isn’t something to be ashamed of. That despite their attempts they have met with folly because the young woman here is no freak of nature, she is a magnificent madam capable of curing the world of its sickness. The best way to heal this rift in the world, and really stick it to people like that, is to demonstrate to it that quirks can be beautiful and wonderful, that they are a gift that should be cherished rather than feared or envied!” Feeling as if she had a sense of righteousness about what she was saying even if it did come from herself, Miss Sequoia got quite swept up by the momentum of her sermon and unashamedly so really. The voice of the vixen getting louder as she got more excited and the odd head in the café turning around to see what the commotion was, so long as she helped the young woman in front of her, the feisty fox cared little for the fuss that she might be causing…

Although she was fortunate that her parents and those within the social cycle of her family were accepting of her quirk, the fact she lived in such a small rural town with rather traditional roots made it so that a large amount of the population looked at Quirks with contempt. A majority of the denizen of the town was after all from older generations. Her gaze lingered at the table, the memory looming over her mind and casting a shadow of doubt and guilt across her heart. It was a painful burden to bear, and while she didn't voice it out loud to others, she did sometimes look at her existence in a way she couldn't help but wonder if her parents would have been happier if she had been a normal person if she... had not been born.
Doubt, guilt, fear, regret and self-loathing were swirling together in this vortex of feelings, creating an unhealthy cocktail of darker emotions yet Sophie's words made Elise lift her gaze slightly, looking up at the doctor hesitatingly. "Looking at it the wrong way?" She felt a tender brush on the back of her hand, a comforting motion that briefly left Elise to try to identify this gesture. Was she trying to comfort her? Reassure her? There was a certain warmth and kindness to the gentle squeeze that made her think that might had been the case.
"Of course not!" Elise answered, her hand shifting lightly as she turned it so she was lightly squeezing Sophie's hand in return as if she tried to muster the strength to deal with this subject with the kindness of the doctor to support her. "I didn't... I never wanted to see anyone hurt, especially my father." Her father had always been a sweet and gentle man, the type who cared about his family and friends first and foremost, and his diligence in his profession had been the reason he had made a name for himself in the pharmaceutical industry.
"I... but if I didn't cry that day my father wouldn't have been hurt." She whispered meekly, her eyes growing moist once more. "To see how much he suffered, I couldn't bear the thought of seeing ANYONE like that in the same state. Violence is an unending cycle of suffering..." the girl whispered, the last part almost sounding like a little mantra. Although what followed did make Elise's gaze shift slightly away from Sophie, guilt clearly evident as an overflowing emotion currently. "Was I truly not to blame? Was I truly powerless in stopping this?" She whispered softly, as if hoping that Sophie would answer her, provide an answer to a question her guilt-ridden heart couldn't answer.
It wasn't her burden to bear... It wasn't because of her that her father nearly died. Her parents had told her that frequently, but each time she felt those scornful looks of those brutes who taunted her and harmed her father resurface in her mind, as if to remind her that she was the reason her beloved family suffered. "But... how do I get rid of those feelings Sophie? My parents often tell me I'm not responsible, but the memory... the sight of how those people looked like me as if I was something disgusting still haunts me. I... I know my parents are happy to have me, but the fact that my father still got hurt so badly, all because I have a quirk..."
It seemed the damage inflicted upon her truly was deeper than some might had assumed, and something that wouldn't be healed that easily. Still, it seemed there was still hope within the young lady, for as Sophie tried to say those encouraging words Elise looked back up at her, hesitatingly asking her. "Find beauty in what I do?" What was she doing? Wasn't she studying to become a doctor to protect those she loved, to prevent people from suffering like her father did? The fact her father was still so strong was a testimony of his resolve, the fact they couldn't break him, but what about her?
"My ability isn't something to be ashamed of..." She whispered softly, as if trying to reaffirm the words Sophie spoke, and for the first time she asked a question she would have never imagined escaping her lips. "C-Can you teach me Sophie? How to use my power to save people? About how to become a proper doctor? About how... I can become someone's hero without needing to hurt someone?"
