the teacher?! is in
Let's do this, let's make you great!
“Sadly, even as a doctor you will discover that try as you might you are no god… There are things that even the mightiest physician can never overcome.” There certainly was no easy answer to the problem that Miss Eisenberg faced. Of course Sophie wanted to tell her anything that would make this cute teenager feel better, however giving her false hope or lazy answers seemed more destructive than beneficial in the long run. While the honest truth could be harsh, it was often the best method.
“Sooner or later, one must give up the illusion that ‘control’ offers. There are many things a person can do, but one can only really influence the actions of the self. It may be a bitter pill to swallow but one needs to learn where to draw the line. If all you do is keep blaming yourself for the hurt in the world, how will you help it?” Happy to see that the girl in front of her had rested her hand in hers and lightly tugging on it to bring it more into her grip, while Miss Sequoia spoke softly and gently there was a sobriety to what she said that spoke from experience. Once a girl who wanted to save everyone she possible could but the brutal reality of her medical career showing her the naiveté of that ambition, even with her skills and her smarts and her potent quirk there had been times when that wasn’t enough.
“It sucks, really. I wish I could tell you that if you had the right abilities you could save anyone from anything but it would be a lie I’m afraid.” Seeing people die despite her best efforts something that had nearly broken the fledgling doctor, as she had learned to cope with such things she had found a toughness within that sometimes might make her seem a little on the ruthless side, but also helped her accept the world as it was rather than what she wished it to be.
“There are no easy answers, but I think people prove themselves when they choose to keep searching for that which is hard, rather than giving up?” Not wishing to put the girl off the path she had chosen one bit but rather encourage her, while what she said might have seemed harsh to an observer, despite only having met this young woman a short while ago, Sophie felt like she too was capable of showing that strength even if she didn’t know it yet. After all, she was so willing to go so far for someone she loved, that felt like it told the doctor that the delicate thing in front of her eyes had far more steel in her than her silky appearance implied.
“Yes, Elise. Well, I certainly aim to try to teach you all of that~” Nodding at the query that the young woman gave her and smiling as she was asked to pass on what she knew, while the steely realism she had just spouted was one aspect that Miss Sequoia had already started to impart to the girl, she almost felt more driven to deliver the rest by the inquiry of the girl.
“The road may not be an easy one but as long as you are happy to ride it, I will do everything I can to support you from your side. So don’t fret…” Once again seized by that fiery spirit that rested within her and nodding as she grinned at the brunette, the zeal of blue eyed beauty returned and she squeezed the hand of her prospective pupil firmly.
“I’’ll give it my all for you, and you’ll do the same for me won’t you?” Perhaps it something of a contradiction to flit between realism and idealism but then any good doctor being made of equal parts of both, one had to hope for the best and also be able to accept the worst and then deal accordingly with whatever they were given.
“And one day I hope that the world will have an Eisenberg-sensei who even I can look up to and admire!” A hard path to follow really and one that at times might come close to breaking a great many, Sophie had hope that this tortuous journey to greatness would be something that Elise could bear, and a part of her even hoped that she would use the tools available to her to become a kind of example even she herself could admire…
