She could not lose this guy. This was Hayley’s only thought as she frantically weaved through Tokyo’s backstreets, legs pumping like pistons. She thanked all her stars this part of the backstreets were never that busy, even at night. She did not need people getting in her way, nor in the way of her target.
The target in question was a broad man in a long tattered brown overcoat, a spiny, scaly green tail with a triangular tip poking out from beneath it. His face, too, was green and scaly, his eyes yellow with thin slits for pupils. She had only gotten a brief glimpse of him when she had found him in an alleyway holding a young man against the wall and threatening him. The lizard-man had bolted the second she came exploding out of the shadows with her hornets, and she had been pursuing him ever since.
He made a right turn and she followed him into a narrow, dingy little alley blocked off by a wall. He skidded to a halt and let out a loud curse in – was that Spanish? Was this guy actually from Spain or Mexico? Hayley was no linguist, but she had watched a lot of subtitled R-rated films from across the world.
Either way, the origin of this guy was not important: what was important was taking him down for the authorities to find. She advanced on him slowly and menacingly, cracking her knuckles for extra emphasis.
“Nowhere to run now, creep,” she called. “Give up!”
The lizard-man whipped around to face her. Despite clearly being the loser in this situation, his face twisted in a jagged grimace of rotten fangs like shards of broken rock.
“That’s what you think, brat!” he snarled.
He spat out a column of searing bright orange flames. Hayley rolled to the left with precious seconds to spare, grimacing behind her helmet. Great. He was not a lizard; he was a dragon. Normally she thought dragons were badass, but definitely not right then. Her hornets did not fare well against fire. Shit…

Such a great, chilly night. A perfect night for villains to run amok, to spread their evil through the great country that was protected under him. Well, he wasn't a big name yet, but of course, they'd know his name soon enough. After all, he IS the Lion Knight, the greatest warrior to ever brave the streets of Japan, the protector of all that is just!
Well, that would be if he could find anyone. He had been walking through the streets for a good while now, his mace safely strapped to his waist as his clanking steps sounded through the night. It felt amazing listeing to the metallic steps of armor, a constant reminder of his status as a knight. He fixed his golden helmet a bit, chuckling to himself as he continued on his way.
Turning around a corner, however, he could see it: A gout of fire emerging from an alleyway! Quirks were usually not allowed in public, unless it was either a Villain.. or another hero fighting the beast! Peering in as he walked in, he could see it: someone else in costume, being attacked by a fire-breathing lizard. He remembered that mask loosely.. she was in that slightly post made by the U.A. kid! One specific thread had gone quite rowdy, with people talking about this "Vespa" hero.
Well, she was a confirmed hero, which meant her opponent was a confirmed villain. He took the mace from his hip, chuckling to himself as he walked past her casually, right by the flame. The heat was nothing compared to justice! Although it did sting, which meant he should hurry. He let the handle fall in between his fingers, so his hands could hold the ball itself. With uncanny skill, he threw the 2KG ball of steel right at the Villain's face, crushing his scales inward and stopping his gouts of flame right there and then.
" Battery. Arson. Civilian unrest. You are guilty of all these crimes. Under the jurisdiction of the Lion Knight, I sentence you to a proper beating!" He voiced out, raising his right hand, his quirk activating at will. The mace began twitching for just a split second, returning to his hand quite quickly. Knowing that the villain was still quite stunned to react properly, he picked up a run against him, jumping as high as he could, raising his mace high in the sky. He crashed back down with it, directly onto his head, the power, the weight and the speed all mixing to send the villain crashing down, surely knocked out and with a concussion to boot.@ tag # # # notes MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Hayley’s mind raced fast to find a solution. Okay, attacking him head on would not work, because it risked her hornets being caught in his fiery breath. She would have to direct them to attack from behind him, but to do that she needed a way to distract him, so –
Someone walked past her, then, right into the fire like a complete madman. That someone was decked out in fancy golden armour themed on a lion. Fittingly enough, a knight had appeared to slay the dragon. She had not realised she had stumbled into a fairytale.
She watched the knight toss a mace straight at the dragon-man with pinpoint accuracy. She winced herself at the impact. Ouch. Not done, though, the knight called his mace back to him as though it were a boomerang, which she assumed must have been his Quirk, bellowing some speech like this were a tokusatsu superhero show before bringing it down on the dragon-man’s head. Again, ouch.
It was over before she had even had chance to react to what was going on. She was left crouched there, staring blankly. “Uh…”
She rose fully and dusted herself off. Damn it. She supposed maybe, maybe, she should be appreciative, but at the same time this had been her fight and she had not been helpless. She huffed and folded her arms. “Thanks, I guess. Though I had it handled!”
She approached the fallen dragon-man and knelt down to him; yes, he was out for the count. Frustration boiled her blood. This was not what she had wanted, and it would not have happened if this knight guy had not butted in. She let out a loud noise that was a mix of a sigh and a groan.
Nothing she could do now. She glanced back at the knight. “I found him threatening a guy and I wanna know why. I feel like there’s got to be something more going on here. Let’s tie him up or something and see what he says when he wakes up!”
She doubted he was going to leave, so she might as well explain things to him. She unzipped her jacket and pulled some thin-yet-durable rope from its spacious inside pocket. “I’ve got this for his hands and feet, unless you’ve got better.”

Thank the gods that the fur on his armor is synthetic. He was already starting to feel the burn when he knocked the fire outta the lizard's mouth. God help him if the fur was real, he'd already be on fire! Well, synthetic fur is a completely different story: not flame retardant, not by a long shot, but it still wasn't exactly that easy to light up. You'd get the horrible smell before you even got it to sustain a flame.
Ingrate! He had come to help an allied hero and the gratitude was half-assed! He sighed and turned his head away, letting her do as she willed with the villain. He yawned and relaxed, raising his hand slowly over to the small space in his helmet saved for his eyes, scratching a little spot quietly, rubbing a little itch he had. " Do as you will." He said, tilting his neck to the right for just a second, his neck letting out a loud popping sound. The glorious relief that came after was simply overwhelming for a second.
" I myself would not communicate with villains.. but I see value in it." He conceded, still sounding confident while doing so. Almost an impossibility, and yet, the lion knight did it without a single problem.
She showed him the rope. Tying him up was quite alright, specially since he didn't have rope himself.. and his method of keeping him immobilized would include broken bones. He nodded and took the rope off of her hands, kicking the lizard's body down, tying him up in a hog-tie styled tie, to make sure he could never put enough momentum and force to snap it. He got off of him, laying back against the wall. " I'll stay, in the case he gets flamethrowing-happy again. Meanwhile.. I'll entretain myself." He said, sitting down on the ground, the cleanest spot he could find in that god-awful place, stretching out his left hand. He sighed as he put in some effort, bringing the bag he had with him back to his hand. He unzipped it, rummaging through the stuff for a second before busting out a violin. He put the bag besides him.
He sighed and gently took the violin into his left hand, resting it on his left shoulder. He tilted his head against it just a little as he took the bow on his right hand, beggining to play a slow, relatively easy yet beautiful tune. Well, beautiful if you're the type to like it. @ tag # # # notes MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Now that the chaos had momentarily subsided, Hayley chose to get a closer look at the knight. His armour did look cool, she thought somewhat grudgingly, grudging because of how he had stolen her thunder. Her main thought, though, was who the hell was this guy? Obviously another hero, but whether he was licensed or not was the real meaning of the question. There were not that many licensed heroes around, so a vigilante like her was the much more probable option and the one she hoped for.
She had yet to run into a licensed hero while out on patrol, but she knew they would not take her own lack of license well and would try to arrest her as the police did. So far he had not asked if she had a license. She was not going to ask if he had one. She did not fancy taking a mace to the face, even with her helmet on.
She watched him place down a bag she had not noticed he was carrying and rummage around in it. She expected a weapon, perhaps a second mace, so she was left dumbfounded when he pulled out of all things a violin. A violin.
“What the fuck?” Hayley blurted.
Blunt as a hammer. She could not believe her eyes. “You seriously carry that with you when you’re out on patrol?”
She could not imagine lugging her guitar into battle. For one thing it would get in the way, and for another, much more important thing it could get stolen or damaged. The horror!
Regardless of her outbursts, he began to play. Hayley winced a little. He was not untalented by any means, but classical instruments had never been her favourite. She preferred the pounding drums, blazing guitar solos and roaring vocals of all things metal. Some types of metal such as folk metal used violins, true, but only then could she tolerate them. This guy needed some guitarists to back him up. If she had brought her guitar, maybe she could have helped him with that.
She let him play, though. As much as she wanted to gripe, she knew griping would waste energy she needed to track whoever this villain had been working for. Even so, she felt her patience wearing thinner and thinner as she stood over the dragon-man waiting for him to stir. She was just about to snap if the knight could be quieter when she saw the dragon’s eyes flutter.
“He’s waking up, Lancelot!” she cried. “Knock it off with the squealing!”

He hadn't even started playing and she was already being crass and rude! He didn't even dignify that, simply playing quietly while he waited, enjoying the wonderful sound that he was creating thanks to his Violin. After a short while, during his mini concert, he began speaking. " Not usually, no. I usually leave it home, but today, I didn't really have time to go home." He explained, shutting himself up as he focused all of his attention to this part: it was harder and, as long as he was as good as he is, he can't play such a part while talking.
It went like this until she called him "Lancelot" and warned him that the villain was waking up. Once again, he didn't even honor her mockery with an answer, since there were much more pressing matters at hand. He put away the violin and closed the bag, jumping back up to his feet, slowly stepping forward close to the villain, his armor always letting out that metal-clanking sound. As always, satisfying. Not saying a word, he simply brandished his mace with his right hand, lightly tapping it on the palm of his other hand, a little threatening movement which someone like the Villain would understand clearly: He better speak and not be a little shit about it.
" You do the questioning. There is no patience in me for villains." He warned her, making sure he said it loud enough for the villain to hear it, just to add more to the "intimidation" factor. @ tag # # # notes MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

So, this knight guy had a very blunt way of dealing with villains, apparently. Hayley might have been much the same if not for the teachings of her father, the great hero Beetle Battler. Often she had argued with him that talking to villainous scum was pointless, but he had told her every time that it was important to know their reasons for doing what they were doing, as it could be tied to a greater threat. She hoped her father would prove to be have been right now, that she was not wasting her time.
She watched the dragon-man slowly open his eyes with a loud, weary groan. It took a few seconds, but it dawned on him that he could not move his arms and legs, and he began to thrash wildly while giving her a glare that, if looks could kill, would have made her explode on the spot. “What the hell is this? You let me go right now, you little puta!”
The insult meant nothing to Hayley, who moved around to stand behind him out of the way of his fire breath, just in case he regained the strength to use it. She stomped on his back, putting most of her weight into it. “How about you give me some answers and I don’t shove my swarm up your ass?”
The dragon-man cried out, but bared his teeth.
“I’m not telling you anything,” he snarled. “You’ll pay for this, you hear? Everyone in Mexico City fears the name ‘El Draco’!”
He was determined to play tough guy, even when hog-tied. Not that Hayley minded.
“Alright, I warned you!” she cried.
Her queen hornet crawled out from her right glove, identifiable by its size and the vertical silver stripe across its back. The rest of her swarm quickly followed. At her silent command they crawled down her body, across the ground and onto the dragon-man, steering clear of his face but covering his back almost entirely. His eyes went wide as saucers at this and he began to tremble.
“Wh-what’s on me?” he spluttered. “What’re you doing? Stop that!”
“Keep refusing to tell me anything and you’ll be stung so hard you can’t walk,” Hayley growled with all the menace she could muster. “Now tell me why you were threatening that guy!”
“Why do you even care?” yelped the now fearful dragon-man. “I was just sent to bring him in!”
“By who? And for what?”
“Traffickers! A small-time bunch, n-not a big group. I don’t normally work with those types, but sometimes you really need to eat, you know? Please don’t hurt me; I’m just a mercenary!”
Traffickers. The lowest of the low. Just the mere thought of them operating on her turf lit an inferno within Hayley, who ordered her hornets to sting this piece of shit for ever having worked with them. His scream pierced the night air like an arrow. Her hornets withdrew as one, leaving him twitching and blubbering in pain on the ground. Hayley did not care, leaning down to his ear. “Tell me where you were supposed to bring that guy. Now.”
“The docks near here!” the pathetic wretch sobbed. “Warehouse Four!”
Hayley turned her back on his miserable form and faced the knight. “Well, I know where I’m going, whoever you are.”
It was not really her business if this guy followed her or not. All she cared about then were the heads she was about to knock together.

The interrogation was quite cruel to him, even knowing that he was a mercenary working for traffickers. It was incredibly cowardly to hit a man who's incapacitated and can't fight. Hell, he was only going to hit him if he tried using fire or use his body to somehow tackle one of them. As Vespa made her decision and started walking away, he sighed and pulled out his phone, calling the ambulance and the police to his place, taking out his helmet as he turned his back to both the lizard man and Vespa, letting his soft, hazelnut colored hair free, his face sounding much softer than when he was wearing his helmet. " Yes. Tokyo, X Street, third alleyway from the bar. This hornet vigilante beat up a lizard guy who throws fire. Left him tied up and stung. Please get him out of the streets quickly.."
With that, he turned off his phone and put his helmet back on, sighing. A short sprint got him to catch up to Vespa as he put his mace back into his waist, grumbling. " I'm honorbound to finish the fight that I joined. Besides, I don't think you can finish this job by yourself." He snarkily commented, walking besides her as he foillowed her lead. He, even if it was against what he thought, was to follow her, since this fight was hers: he was but a simple knight who joined the fight for the good of justice, he was never the one who took initiative.
As a proper knight, he wouldn't greedily take over her place and status as the leader for this mission. It's below him. " Do you plan to do more interrogations?" He asked as he turned his head directly to face her. He had some plans of his own, like smashing all their heads in for atrocious crimes against all that is good and just.. but she might just have a different approach to things which, again, he'd consider and follow as long as it seemed reasonable.@ tag # # # notes MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Hayley was not surprised to find the knight followed her. Whether she wanted him to or not was a different story. Her father had taught her to work with other vigilantes, and she was not adverse to it, but the way this guy had butted in on her fight acting like he was so much better had left her sore.
“Shut it, furry,” she snapped at his remark about her being unable to finish on her own. “I’ve been training for this all my life.”
She wondered if this guy would have heard of her father, perhaps even fought villains alongside him, but she said no more. She heard police sirens as she moved away from the area, which made her quicken her pace. The docks thankfully were only a short walk away. The smell of fish hung strong in the air as Hayley began to creep, eyes flitting about for any signs of life. The docks and their warehouses all seemed deserted.
She did not like this. It was too quiet.
“The handbag said Warehouse Four,” she said in a hushed tone to her new companion, gesturing to the warehouse in question, which was only a few metres away. She crouched low behind a box between two other warehouses. “Guessing the traffickers are inside there. How do you wanna do this?”

Lion Knight Fights! ● ● ● ● Fight!
He didn't really pay any mind to the "furry" comment. She was just salty that he was way more gallant-like and cooler than her. Who could blame her? He just looked way too cool for words, that's just it. Essentially, she was just venting her self frustrations and nothing else. On more important matters, they were now behind a box, ready to go inside the Warehouse. Before answering, he peeked over it for a while, up at the warehouse and others from afar that, while not being Warehouse 4, they had the same design. He noticed windows at the top, like it was usual of warehouses. Easy to make a good throw there. He then checked the doors around as well. The front one was slightly tilted open and, best of all, that's where no one was going to expect him to come from. " I'll throw my mace onto a window directly above of us while I run through the front door. You seem to be better with crowd control.. Have your wasps cover me from others while I fight. Whatever else you do is on you." He said, taking the lead this time, since she basically gave the ball to him. He slowly got up, grabbing his mace by the ball, lining up the shot for a second. "They'll realize that the mercenary isn't returning soon and will ramp up their defenses. We have no time to spare. Move." He ordered in a hushed tone, throwing it up as hard as he could, starting a sprint into the door for Warehouse 4. He burst in, seeing the guards just about to notice him. Rag-tag group indeed, he didn't really see a gun yet.
The mace came into play now. It crashed accurately through the window (How could it not? The window is such a big target), doing so much noise that it broke their attention from the knight even for a second. He rushed forward and went ahead for a powerful kick to the first guy's chin, wether he was being assisted by wasps or not. The power behind the kick, the speed and the fact that it was armored made sure he went down relatively easy. @ tag # # # notes MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

So, a direct assault, basically. That was his plan. Evidently he did not fuck around, but she was fine with that because neither did she. She was by his side as he went charging across every step of the way.
They exploded through the doors to be met with a motley crew of thugs, about five in total. Less than she expected. Her eyes were immediately drawn to a rusted cage near the back, in which a group of battered, broken people huddled, gazing out with sunken eyes. They all appeared Quirkless: made sense, as Quirkless were a lot easier to capture and keep captured.
She saw the knight rushing towards the nearest, so she held out her right hand and deployed her swarm towards the others. The men saw them coming only to instantly be distracted by the knight’s mace shattering the window, which left them wide open. The hornets descended in a hurricane of stings. Hayley refused to let up and ordered her hornets to give it every ounce of strength they had. No mercy for scum on this level.
She only told her hornets to disperse to throw herself at the closest of the stunned crooks, letting loose a flurry of strikes to their most critical areas. The men were sent scrambling from the warehouse, cursing the two heroes and crying about their wounds.
Only the man the knight had kicked remained, sprawled on the floor.
“You get those people out of their cage,” Hayley said, approaching the fallen thug. “I’m gonna talk to this dickhead and find out who they’re working for.”

Their sinergy was almost too good to be true to him. So good was it that he almost felt slightly angry that he couldn't do it all by himself. He realized it the moment he went in: if he hadn't gotten covered, the distraction the mace would have given would just delay the probable beating he'd get. Even if he would manage to get himself out of that, he wouldn't get out unharmed. She was the Crowd Control and he was the Front Line, essentially. Maybe he should get better acquainted with her. Maybe not, she is clearly a female by voice and he can't really trust them, can he? Shaking the thoughts off of his mind, he raised his right hand up in the sky, gritting his teeth as he put in some effort to bring his mace back to him, noticing it had gotten slightly dented from the rough fall through the window. He's gotta get that checked up soon. " Will do." He said as he began stepping closer to the rusted cage, tapping it with his left gauntlet. It really was almost falling apart, easily breakable by anyone armed or quirked. A rag-tag group of traffickers indeed, though he felt like they were just a small brach of a much bigger tree. He didn't have time for these trivial thoughts though. He clutched his mace in both of his hands, clenching his muscles.
" Stand back." Warned the Lion Knight as the kidnapped people huddled at the far back, as to not get in his way. Knowing he was mostly safe, he raised his mace and smacked the front as hard as he could from the side, denting a good part of it and even breaking off some of the bars.
He procceeded to get in front of the cage, sliding his mace through the hole he had created and began smacking the rest of the bars, denting them to the side or even breaking them. With a hole big enough for the people to come out, he got out of the way. " I'll go call the authorities for these people. You guys, don't leave my side." He warned them, putting his mace back into his waist as he pulled out his phone, huffing as he blinked several times, feeling a bit dizzy. The sheer amount of adrenaline was now leaving him slightly exhausted, which allowed his quirk to exhaust him further, making him feel slightly dizzy.
Nothing to much. He breathed in deep, let it out and dialed the number, putting it to his ear. He spoke as simply as he could, enjoying the fact that his mask made him sound completely different. After a few minutes, he put down his phone. " Vespa. You have about fifteen minutes to interrogate him before the cops arrive. You guys, go outside and don't leave each other's side. Make sure you're easily visible by the cops." Directed the Knight, pointing to the entrance, which the poor quirkless people easily ran to, staying outside and waiting patiently for the police.
" I'll stay outside and watch for any reinforcements." With those words, he also left through the front entrance, standing a safe distance away from th e@ tag # # # notes MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

“You couldn’t wait?” Hayley grumped in response to him telling her she had fifteen minutes ‘til the police arrived.
She would have preferred he call the authorities after she was done interrogating. That way she would not be on a time limit. Arguing with him about it would only waste this precious time, however, so she approached the thug and seized him by the collar.
“Alright, you piece of shit,” she growled, leaning down so that here helmet was millimetres from his face. “I don’t have a lot of patience for the likes of you, so you better start talking now. Who put you up to this?”
Her own adrenaline was coming down, but she had to get answers out of this guy no matter what. Fortunately, this thug did not seem half as much of a wannabe tough guy as the dragon-man. He went as white as a sheet the closer she got to him, looking at her as though she were his worst nightmare made flesh.
“Jesus Christ, you’re crazy!” he yelped. “It was some psycho bitch that looked like she came right out of The Ring. She just wanted us to round up some food for her!”
A cannibal? The thought made Hayley’s skin crawl like a colony of ants, for more reasons than one. Worst of all was that she knew what it was like to have cannibalistic urges. Too well. Her hornets were obedient when she kept herself well-fed, but if she stayed hungry for too long, they were not picky about what they chose to sate themselves, and thanks to their symbiotic bond she felt everything they did. Everything.
She shrugged off these awful thoughts as best she could, forcing herself to focus on the task at hand.
“What was her name?” she demanded.
“I dunno, Poison something-something – no, Venom. The Venom Queen!”
Those two words were all it took to bring Hayley’s world to a screeching, crashing halt. Her body began to tremble. Then, she let out of furious cry and all of a sudden had slammed the guy against the nearby wall, a surprising feat for her given she was younger than him.
“Where is she?” she practically screamed in his face. “Tell me!”
“I-I don’t know!” howled the hapless crook.
“You’re lying!”
Hayley continued to hold the thug with one hand while making a fist with the other, ready to strike.

It seemed that the people were safe. The first several minutes, not one soul had peered in or tried to meddle with them. Better for him, since it meant that there wouldn't really be a problem with keeping the people safe. Still, it felt quite weird. If they were truly working for someone bigger than them, was that person simply so careless, merciful or powerless to enforce their will? Even the villains that ran away didn't try to come back to try and salvage this mission. Questions, Questions. Questions he couldn't really answer himself since Vespa was now screaming, as if she had just experienced an onset of sudden PMS. Rolling his eyes, he got up and peeked inside, quickly enough to watch her pick up the man and slam him against the wall. Once again, interrogating him the worst way possible. Calmly, he walked over to her, holding her shoulder, shaking her a bit to snap her attention back to him. " I have no idea what's going on with you, but hold yourself together! It's pointless continuing this, if all that you get out of it is a defenseless man's blood on your hands. We are supposed to fight those kinds of people, not become them." He warned her, signaling her to put down the villain, not even mentioning the fact that she should still keep an eye on him, so that he wouldn't escape. Just because he had mercy on him and on Vespa's path to righteousness, that didn't mean he didn't genuinely wish for justice.
Either way, he went back outside to keep waiting with the people, noticing the lights of the cop cars arriving. He smiled under his mask and jumped off of the spot he was sitting on, to make sure he wouldn't be spotted. He hoped Vespa would follow suit. @ tag # # # notes MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Hayley’s fist was mere milliseconds from impact when the knight’s armoured hand seized her by the shoulder and pulled her back just enough, not making her let go of the thug but stopping her from hitting him. She shrugged the knight off with noticeable anger and whipped her head around to glare at him.
“Shut the hell up, tin-can!” she snarled.
He could not see it, but behind her visor her eyes blazed like a forest fire and her teeth were grit in feral rage. “He knows where to find a villain called the Venom Queen. I have a score to settle with her!”
Much more than a score, in actuality. Hayley would never, ever forget the day of her father’s funeral, when the towering woman with the body-length black hair had stared down at her and declared that she was her mother. She wanted to believe her to have been lying, oh so much, but she saw the similarities in their Quirks. Recognised something in the Venom Queen’s cannibalistic rampages, no matter how much she did not want to. Even though being the daughter of her father’s worst enemy made no sense, throwing the reasons for her own existence into question.
“I don’t know where to find her!” the crook whimpered. “Honest! I’m just one of the guys going along with this! She was supposed to come here and collect, but one of the others you chased off will have contacted her by now, so she won’t be coming anymore.”
As enraged as Hayley was, she knew that to be true. Damn it. To have come so close to facing her mother again, to have screwed up…
She threw the thug to the ground at the knight’s feet and hung her head. “Fuck’s sake!”
