WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy So many had chosen to show interest in celebrating her birthday with her. Initially, the raven haired female had imagined that a couple, those she considered her closest friends, would be interested in going. Instead, it had turned out to be a majority of the class, immediately bumping the stress levels from average to inhumane. Exactly how was Rin meant to make it an enjoyable time if the whole class decided to show up? That was a potential twenty people that she now had invited, and felt a responsibility to entertain. Being a gracious hostess was always difficult. Pacing back and forth, the worries kept building and building until it threatened to give her a resounding headache. Taking a deep breath, Rin nodded to herself. The reason the arcade had been chosen, was so that everyone could, to some extent, entertain themselves with whatever they found most interesting. It was going to be fine. It would be the first birthday in years that Rin had celebrated with any kind of friends. Now, the girl had so many. With friends like the heroes at Yuuei, what was there to be worried about?
For the occasion, Rin had bought herself a new dress and a matching pair of shoes plus hairband. The dress was long, white as snow, reaching all the way to the top of her shoes. For footwear, she wore a pair of white heels. The heel tall enough to stretch her legs and posture by themselves. The raven dark hair had been recently cut, styled with ever twirling snake curls. Even so, since they were going to the arcade, Rin had caught her locks into a ponytail, fastened by a white fluffy hairband. A white band was tied around the dress just underneath her chest, creating a beautiful bow over her back. This was the first clothing Rin had bought herself, and likely the first time most of her classmates would see her wearing anything but the school uniform. For the first time in years, Rin felt comfortable with her clothing. Felt presentable enough to walk around in public withotu shame.
On her bare arms, there wasn't a single trace of what had been going on in the Kurama household, nor from the unfortunate events at the bomb-defusal training. Skin was pure, white, looking soft to the touch, almost glistening in the overpowering sun from above. It was a warm day, one of the warmest days in June thus far. The sky was naught but a blue canvas, only a cloud or two ruining the blue perfection. Everything thus far had pointed towards a new life at Yuuei. Today was yet another step forwards. Having spoken with the manager of the arcade, Rin had been guaranteed that there'd be room for her classmates. If they spent enough money playing games, buying drinks and having fun, he had even offered them the chance to stay around and have dinner there. Rin had simply shrugged. Until she was certain her classmates showed up and were in a partying mood, making such deals seemed a little over the top.
Inside the arcade, there were an absolute ton of different games. Games where it was about rhythm and dancing. Games where it was about action; Firing guns, taking cover. Fighting games, where individuals got to test their gaming prowess against one another. Lastly, they even had a section dedicated to adventure and roleplaying games. There seemed to be something for just about anyone. Rin herself wasn't much of a gamer, in all honesty. It was only recently that she had begun playing games with Jasmine at the dorm. The prospect of playing some of her classmates in the fighting games still didn't seem all too bad though...
For now, the raven haired female patiently waited outside the Arcade, standing by the door. It was almost two o'clock, the time where they were meant to be meeting up. Being that some of her classmates liked to arrive early, she'd likely be seeing them in the area any moment now. That is, if anyone decided to show up.

Birthday Girl at the Arcade
|
words: 421. tag: Rin Kurama notes: Happy Birthday, Rin! |
Today was a fine day. The skies were mostly clear, and being June, the temperature was nice and hot. More importantly though, was the fact that today was Rin's birthday. When she had suggested everyone meet up at the arcade, Sean was definitely down for that! Having fun not only celebrating the class president's birthday, but also playing games at the arcade was too good for Sean to pass up.
Before heading to the arcade, Sean made a quick stop to a small store. Even if Rin didn't care about getting a present, Sean still wanted to give her something. Unfortunately, he had no idea just what it was Rin liked. He couldn't exactly ask her either, lest the surprise be ruined. Sean entered the nearby store and looked around. After looking around for a while, he saw a collection of coffee mugs. There was a small sign next to them that read "Add your own custom messages!" This seemed nice and simple enough. Even if Rin didn't drink coffee, a mug could still be useful for tea and other drinks. Besides, it's the thought that counts, right?
Sean picked a simple white mug with a nice floral pattern on it. Sean took the mug to the shopkeeper and requested the message on the mug to read "Happy Birthday, to the best class president ever!" After paying for the mug and waiting a few minutes for the message to be added, it was ready. Sean also decided to buy a birthday card and a gift card to the local spa as well. After writing a short but sincere message on the birthday card, he put the gift card inside the birthday card, then put that and the mug inside a small bag. Thanking the shopkeeper, Sean then walked out the store and headed for the arcade.
Rin's present ended up being more expensive than Sean had anticipated, so he didn't have a lot of money left for the arcade. Still, Sean didn't regret it at all. He just hoped that Rin would like it. A few minutes of walking later, and Sean saw the arcade entrance. He also saw Rin waiting in front. He was not used to seeing Rin outside of her school uniform, but he liked the outfit Rin had chosen. She looked very pretty in his opinion. Sean smiled and greeted her. "Hey there, class president!" He took out the bag and handed it to Rin. "It's not much, but I hope you like it. Happy birthday, Rin!"

rin's purple eyes
Japan's summer was something that Ene was completely not used to, leaving her feeling lethargic and drenched in sweat. Even with the light shirt and loose shorts, the heat was getting to her, and would probably have her be complaining about it if she had someone to complain to. If only she had run into Maxi along the way.
Fortunately, the mall and the arcade were air-conditioned, providing Ene relief as she stepped onto the premises.
She felt as if she had stepped into a new world, the dark ambience, and the constant beeping and 8-bit music being played rather loudly. Ene had a basic idea of what an arcade was like, but she had never been to one before. It was noisier than she expected, and she was couldn't relax, being too worked up from the prospect of being able to play one of the numerous games that the arcade had to offer.
But before that, the reason she was here.
A bag containing a certain birthday girl's present hung comfortably in her hand, containing the present that Ene was definitely and absolutely sure that Kurama would hopefully like.
As the aforementioned classmate, along with another who had arrived earlier than her, came into view, a wide smile appeared on her face, "Hullo, Kurama-san! Mizushima-san!"
She pulled the shorter girl into a big bear hug, lifting her off the ground a little, before putting her down.
Digging into the bag, she pulled out a thin present wrapped with a bow. Inside was a simple light-purple t-shirt that said "Loved By:" and had the names Ene, Malene and Chene written neatly in marker.
Ene would have loved to see the class president's reaction to her present, but that would be later, when the presents were to be opened.
She thrust the present into Kurama's tiny hands, the smile on her face never leaving, "Auguri! Happy birthday!"

Lips puckered to the side as if he was biting the inside of his cheek, Akagai was already mildly annoyed with his eyes furrowed. Surprisingly for someone who wasn't sure he'd make it to the birthday party, he was one of the first to arrive. The truth behind that was that he loved rhythm and dance games like Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero. Akagai doubted that they would have the latter in this arcade unless they had a secluded booth somewhere so that the screaming youth didn’t disturb the rest of the screaming youths. The former however definitely existed in this arcade somewhere, be it a cheap knock off or the latest iteration of the series. That was the boy’s goal, to find it and establish his own high score, hopefully overcoming the highest on the game yet. Oh, and of course he wanted to pwn some of his classmates as well. What Akagai immediately noticed that irritated him though, was that all of those before him brought gifts when the class representative—what was her name again, Rin? Told everyone that bringing a gift was unnecessary. So you know what Akagai did? He didn’t bring a thing. He was one of the new transfer students, he didn’t know her anyway. What could he have brought her? When he entered the arcade, he caught sight of Rin and the gift being handed to her by another girl in their class. He quickly looked away and waved before exploring the arcade in pursuit of the rhythm and dance games he longed for. As he wandered about, he couldn’t help but think of the last birthday party he went to. It was five years ago. His gift for Yousai—the douchebag birthday boy, was just playing music with his quirk. Perhaps he could do that for Rin later? Eye twitching slighting, Akagai actually began to bite his lip as he thought about playing music. Would the class even like it? Or would it just be a repeat of his primary school days? It was all such a bother that his thoughts brought him to a halt as he rubbed his head anxiously as if deeply troubled by something. Regaining his composure, he took a deep breath, and sighed. Then, right as how things usually went, Akagai found the DDR machine when he wasn’t even looking for it at the moment. A sly, mischievous smile crept up between his lips. The boy rubbed his hands together then hopped onto one of the machine’s two dance pads, ready to challenge someone. “Ayo~!” he excitedly called out, trying to gather the attention of whoever was around. “I’m paying for this first round, so someone step up to the plate and challenge me!” As he shouted, he held quarters in his balled fist and shook them triumphantly as he pumped his arm.

Maria pulled up in a rented car. She didn't drive that often, but the heat of the day made the idea of walking or using public transportation rather unappealing. Maria's outfit reflected the same sentiment. A sleeveless white blouse, just short enough to expose her navel, a black thigh length skirt and matching sandals. Along with that she carried a small handbag as well as several other bags. They were filled with clothes, several outfits worth of them. Every individual outfit was neatly packed into a box with a bow on top. It was probably a bit over the top, but Maria figured Rin could use some something like it. Buying clothes for a girl might have been somewhat predictable, but it was a present with a clear practical use so Maria didn't pay it much mind. Besides that, buying the clothes was no different than one of her own personal shopping sprees of the same nature, so it wasn't like she was going out of her way to leave her comfort zone or spending more on Rin's birthday than she usually did. It was one of the perks of being a villain. Money stops being an issue rather quickly.
Maria approached the arcade with a light step. The sight before her made Maria realize that this was going to be a very unusual day. Of course, going to a birthday party at an arcade wasn't really all that strange, but for Maria this was an exception. So many things she hadn't done in ages awaited her. Never mind going to someone's birthday party, even going to an arcade and video games in general almost seem foreign to her. Being a villain ate up a lot more of her time than she would have guessed. But taking a step back, looking at the greater picture and taking a day off like this where she was confronted with something that had become apart from her norm made it rather clear that she couldn't remember the last time she did something like this. It wasn't that she didn't have any free time. She was her own boss, she has as much free time as she wanted. But between doing jobs, taking care of disputes with other villains and the occasional clash with a vigilante or a hero many of the mundane joys were lost to her. When you have to make the most of your day off and when money isn't a concern, it is only natural to drift towards the finer things in life. Maria was used to dining at fine restaurants, renting limousines or even a mansion for the weekend. But an arcade? It was almost bizarre for her to just be there to have fun. Of course, there was also the matter of the other party guests. U.A. students. A villain among heroes. Not to mention that she was bound to be a bit older than them as well. Maria wasn't visiting in her capacity as a villain of course and she didn't expect anything to happen in that regard, but the situation itself was still somewhat peculiar.
Despite that, the idea of the arcade and spending some time with Rin put a faint smile on her lips. As the entrance to the arcade came into view together with both Rin and presumably several of her classmates Maria sped up a bit. As soon as she arrived she put an arm around Rin without hesitation, pulling her into a hug.
"How's the birthday girl doing?"

She brought a gift; of course she brought a gift. Her mother had always taught her that when people said they didn't need a present, bring one anyway. It was a nice thing to do, and who would be mad at someone for bringing one anyway? The trick was that it couldn't be anything too big, but Elizabeth thought she found the perfect way to bring one in a way that wasn't too awkward. She stopped at a candy store on the way to the arcade and picked up a caramel apple, a bag of saltwater taffy, and some chocolate fudge just in case Rin didn't like the other two. She hadn't been to a boardwalk in a long time; moving as often as she did almost made her the opposite of worldly. The army bases were the closest thing she'd had to a constant in her life, afterall; the layouts were different, maybe, but the culture and way of life didn't differ much. She'd clung to them, rarely leaving. Since she'd started at UA, she'd had to contend with the fact that she couldn't retreat there. Which was...something she wanted to do, it wasn't like she was against it, but it also was new territory. The salty ocean air was a little sharp against her sensitive nose, at first, but once she'd gotten used to it, she found she enjoyed the boardwalk very much. Elizabeth found the arcade Rin had said everyone was invited to, poking her head inside, breathing a sigh of relief. It was really, really hot out, and she was fighting the urge to start panting. She hadn't spoken to Rin much, but she thought very highly of her; she was class president, afterall. Rin seemed busy talking to some other classmates that had shown up already, but when she thought Rin was looking her way, Elizabeth waved with her free hand.

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings Mom, I need to ask you something.
Well, then ask my dear.
Do... D-Do I look good?
Igarashi Hiroko couldn't help but to burst out laughing. It was a normal question, nothing too special about it... but coming from Ryuusei? She was sure that he had never asked such thing, nor was she expecting that he ever would. Her mother instict had gotten her worried for Ryuu over the past days. She knew that her son was struggling with himself, the idea of going to Yuuei and becoming a Hero. However, she wouldn't ask him about it - Hiroko knew how her son was and how he felt better without talking. But, some days - like today - Ryuu seemed like a completly normal 15 year old... Well, 16 years old. Ryuusei's birthday had been a few days ago, but he hadn't told anyone about it, prefering to spend the day with Yaso at the hospital.
You look pretty Ry, don't worry about it.
Okay, good... Y-You're not lying right?
I swear that I'm being completly honest.
Okay... Yeah, okay, t-that's good. I'm going now then, thanks mom.
And, just like that, off he went. But to where? His destination was the arcade. He knew the place well. During his time at the previous school he often went there in order to avoid his classmates, a kind off hiding place where he could play some of his favorite games. But today, for the first time, he wasn't going there to avoid people... he was actually going there to meet them. It was a special day: Rinkusu's birthday. The girl had invited the entire class for her birthday party, so Ryuu was expecting at least half of his class to show up. That made him scared. In class he didn't had to talk to anyone, but there... He knew it was going to be difficult.
I hope Yoru shows up..., he thought as he walked at a fast pace. Yoru was the one actual friend he made at Yuuei besides Rin. And, since RIn was going to be the center of attention, he was the only hope for Ryuu to have some company during the day.
Arriving a little late than anyone else - something unusual, but caused by the amount of time he took to get ready - Ryuu could recognize almost everyone. The only person he did not know from Yuuei was a girl with long green hair. Maybe Rin's friend from her previous school?
On his left ear, his usual earring had been replaced by a small silver hoop earing. As for clothes he was wearing a blue and white striped button shirt, dark jeans and white shoes. On his shoulder he had a linen bag in which he carried the gift he had made for Rin. There was no way he would give it to her in front of so many people, so he just kept quiet about that. Instead, he just approached the group, one hand on his pocket, the other waving in a shy way at everyone.
Hey, he said to the entire group in a cold tone. Rin knew he was like that, but everyone else would probably find it weird.
He wanted to wish RInkusu a happy birthday, but she was too surrounded by everyone. He could save that for later.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Beaming widely as the first of the guests arrived, Rin was almost estatic on the inside. It had been so many years since she had held a proper birthday party of any kind. It wasn't so much the celebration of her birthday that had her in a fantastic mood, as much as it was how many of her classmates were willing to participate in it with her. Gleefully, she greeted the first to arrive; Sean Mizushima. He was one of the quieter, yet always pleasant classmates that Rin had. As far as she could remember, she had never seen him in a foul mood, nor behaving negatively towards anyone in class. Noting that he was the first to arrive, on the surface he seemed to share many traits with the raven haired female. "Mizushima-san, good to see you could make it. I hope the setting of an arcade can keep you interested for the rest of the day!" Tilting her head to the side, the warm, genuine smile on Rin's lips could thaw even a frozen heart. The warm greeting was quickly replaced with curiosity. Despite having requested no one bought her anything, she was still being offered a present. Rather than make a scene or cause a fuss, the girl politely accepted, peering inside the bag to figure out what she had been given. Fortunately for Rin, the gift was something incredibly simple. It made it an easier pill to swallow. Especially knowing that several of the students were filthy rich and could exchange gifts she couldn't hope to repay. "Thank you so much. It'll make Jasmine-chan jealous the next time we're having hot chocolate, I'm sure!" Offering him a slight hug should he accept. It had taken a while, but with the different personalities in 1-A, Rin had gotten slightly better at physical contact. The next to arrive was a perosnality that Rin had some reservations for. Occasionally it felt like Ene was of two minds. One that Rin had an easy time interacting with. One that seemed more selfish, childish, almost provocative in nature. Having just barely let go of Mizushima-san, Ene wrapped her arms around Rin. The hug easily lifted Rin off of her feet. In many ways, Ene managed to treat the class president somewhat like a pet animal. Of course, as far as Rin was aware, it wasn't intentional. It was simply Ene's lighthearted personality. "Rubis-san. Good to see you. You ready to get your butt kicked in some video games?" Yet again, a present was practically forced upon her, probably because Ene was getting fed up with carrying it around, if she was to take a guess. A cheeky smile was on Rin's lips. That female would remain a mystery for the time being. One day, however, Rin swore she would figure her out. Being unable to unpack the bag to check the contains just yet, there were still guests flooding in. Hopefully Rubis-san wouldn't take it offensively. The third one to enter the scene, practically slipped right by Rin as she was busy interacting with Rubis-san. It was one of the new transfer students. Rin had been informed ever so slightly by the staff at Yuuei that there'd be a couple of new members joining the class. Still, the girl wasn't quite sure which one this was. Their names sorta melted together. So rather than addressing him by name, she gave him a generic greeting to his question. "I'm sure someone would love to take on your challenge. Otherwise, I may, once the guests finish arriving!~ Welcome to Yuuei, and welcome to 1-A!" Offering him a bright smile, it was already a little difficult to keep up.Having had her back turned, it was somewhat out of nowhere that an arm snaked around her, pulling her into a hug, her face practically headbutting into Maria's cleavage. Almost falling over her own legs, Rin recoiled ever so slightly, embarassed at what had taken place. "M-Maria-senpai...! I didn't.. I'm sorry... W-welcome! I.. didn't know you'd be coming. Good to see you!" Offering Maria a slight bow. The sheer amount of bag's in Maria's arms had Rin completely stumped to offer any proper reply. This was already far over the top. "Please, make your way inside. Introduce yourself to my classmates." At this point, Rin was already carrying way too many bags. Finding an empty table, Rin quickly and effortlessly sorted the bags with matching cards, so she'd be able to remember who had come with which gift. It was admist this sorting that another transfer student at Yuuei showed up. If memory served, there was only one female transferring into class at this moment. A Miss Sharp. As soon as Rin found a moment to leave the other guests speaking to one another, she B-lined straight for the blonde. "Greetings! You must be one of the new transfer students. My name is Kurama, Rin. If you ever need any help getting settled in, find your way around, or simply ordering books, I'll assist as I can." Another warm smile was offered to Elizabeth, accompanied by a short bow of respect.Hey.It was almost cold enough to make Rin shiver from frostbite. Ryuusei had shown up with his usual indifferent mood and tone. To the others, it may have seemed insulting. To Rin, it was almost a surprise to see him show up. What was far more surprising was seeing him in his getup. The attention to detail bore witness of how much effort he had put into his looks, compared to his normal attire. Noticing this, a cheeky grin got on Rin's lips. Ryuusei was going to socialize, whether he wanted to or not. "Ryuu-kun! Good to see you could make it. As vice president, I've actually got a bit of a task for you." Gently nudging him in the direction of Akagai, Rin continued to speak as they got closer to the dancing game. "We've got some new students, and I really want them to feel welcome. Could you play a few games with him, please?" Offering him the brightest, warmest smile, she wasn't prepared to let him be a complete downer. Hopefully getting him a bit engaged with everyone could unthaw him a bit...And thus the birthday party began in high spirits~

Everyone had, by the looks of it, arrived early so far. It seemed to be Japanese custom at this point to arrive early to a place, to enjoy the companionship of each other as early as possible. Of course, Maxi enjoyed companionship as well, but he enjoyed being right on time as well. That's why, right as 2 PM ticked, he arrived at the front of the arcade, just as planned in his short schedhule for that day. Out of home by 1:20 PM. Arrive at the post office and pick up the present at 1:23 PM. Walk over to his favorite convenience store at 1:30 PM and buy ice cream. At 1:35, with two minutes of extra time just in case of the existence of a line, get out of the store and eat the ice cream. Finally go directly to the arcade at 1:40, arrive there in 20 minutes. Perfectly managed, just like his very much british parents had taught him. Seeing everyone there, he really didn't say not even a peep, not really familiar with anyone there, save for the ever so lovely Rin and the distant Ryuusei. Though he hadn't even spoken to Ryuusei, he had just seen him on his first day. Not even the most sociable person in the world, he really didn't direct much of a word to them, simply making his pace to Rin. To the hostess, and honestly, any who looked at him, the back of his forearms had much whiter skin, clearly noticeable on the tannedboy along with a slightly rugged texture, characteristics given to him from his fight with Jaz, in which he, damaged and frail after a long fight, tried to tank two full on explosions with his arms, the exposure and the heat whittling at his weakened skin, burning right through. To him, those scars were mad awesome, marks of a hero who has faced adversity. He wouldn't say the adversity was on a sparring match. Maybe he would, he didn't care that much. Either way, he was now standing in front of Rin, his right hand holding a large bag from the post office, swinging it around a little bit, showing that whatever was inside wasn't really that fragile. " Happy birthday, heroine." He congratulated her, giving her the bag with a proud, almost cocky smile, knowing full well that his choice of present came from their interaction during the window cleaning chore, in which he picked an almost adorable desire to learn medicine from her, just from how he talked about visiting the children at the hospital and donating blood. "I'm sure that what you find there will be quite the prize. Pay me back by continuing to be you, a'ight love?" He even let his british tone slip a bit, maybe intencionally to tease her, maybe not. A mistery that not even he could answer, something that just came from time to time.
Inside the bag was something he felt that shouldn't really be put in a pretty present box, since he saw it as something serious, something that truly was for her future. Inside, she bound two things. One was a package full of surgical string for closing wounds. The other one was a surgical tool kit, knowing quite well that she probably didn't have it or, if she did, not all the tools presented there and not at the same quality. He knew how costly those tools were. So costly that he had to barter with his parents on cutting his allowance for the next two months to pay it back, along with perfect grades all around. His parents didn't fuck around with business.

Birthday Girl at the Arcade

From what Sean could see, Rin liked the present he gave her. He was a bit worried that she'd be disappointed by the few gifts and the relatively inexpensive mug (although the gift card for the spa was not cheap at all). Still, even though he didn't personally know Rin all that well, she did not seem like the type of person who would care about that. Again, it was the thought that counts. Sean then noticed several familiar faces coming in. Most of his classmates had gotten Rin a birthday gift as well. That was pretty nice of them!
One of them greeted Sean Rin. Sean was glad that he was paying more and more attention in class. He could actually remember most of his classmates' names now! "Hi Ene! Glad to see you here!" He smiled at seeing her grab on Rin in a tight bear hug. It looked adorable! Then, one of the new transfer students whose name Sean had not remembered called for someone to challenge him at DDR. Sean would have accepted his challenge, but he hadn't played DDR before, and thought it best to let someone who was more eager about playing DDR challenge him. Sean would be content with just watching for now.
As the others were coming in, Sean turned away from everyone else and checked his wallet. Not a lot was left after buying Rin her present. Still, it was enough for a few games. He made his way to one of the arcade machines. One caught his attention. It was called Surfing Bird. Sean had never heard of this game before. It seemed to be a simple game of surfing while dodging sharks. Sean decided to try it out, so he took out a quarter, popped it in the coin slot, and began to play for a bit.

two minds that
She had not gotten tired of carrying the bag. Far from it, actually. In fact, Ene had been so forbearing that, for a majority of her trip making her way to the arcade, she had forgotten that she had been carrying it at all.
Ene had just been incredibly excited to hand it over, since birthdays were occasions that she held in rather high regard. This was, obviously, due to her own experiences during her own birthdays, all made immensely pleasant by her doting father.
The tall girl couldn't help but laugh at Rin's provocative remark, "Video games aren't my forte, but no way am I backing down!"
Ene shifted her gaze from the birthday girl to the rest of the arcade, her attention spreading out as she took the sights all in again. She didn't recognize any of the arcade machines, and despite that did not doubt for a second that she'd probably be amazing at most of games that they held.
That was when she heard someone issue out a challenge. It was an unfamiliar face, but that didn't matter to her. What did matter was the challenge.
She edged past the small crowd of students, making her way to the machine that she never seen before until now. A screen with an area that seemed to accommodate two, with two sets of crosspads that had arrows on them on the ground, and bars that looked like they were meant to be held on behind them. A dancing game, perhaps?
"Someone has stepped up to the plate!" Ene shouted in a similar boisterous tone, literally stepping up to the plate, or in this case, the dancepad.
"So, uh, how do you-" she was about to ask how to play, but the screen showing off a demo off the game made it obvious how to play. She waved dismissive hand, understanding more or less the gist of the game now, "Nevermind, I got it."

In hindsight, inquiring whether anyone wanted to join him in an arcade game before the birthday celebration even commenced was pretty moronic. Reasonably, no one seemed to acknowledge his offer, not at first that was. At the time, there was only four students in the building. One being himself, and another being the host—Rin… he still wasn’t quite sure whether that was her name or not though. At least he had some sort of an inkling of what the class representative’s name was compared to the rest of students. He hadn’t the slightest clue what their names could have been. There wasn’t a snowball chance in hell that Rin would link up with him and play the DDR machine though. That left only two people who didn’t know him, because the class rep. had to do what was expected of her. That being a good host and greeting everyone who arrived. You know, hugging everyone, collecting the gifts she probably always wanted from the get go (Yes, he was salty), and exchanging inside jokes Akagai wouldn’t have understood. He was just an outcast, but what was new? The boy couldn’t help but look down and utter a chuckle out of pity for himself. That was when the class rep. took him by surprise. She approached and answered his declaration. Amused, Akagai raised his head to look down to Rin. He was taller than her and was on top of the DDR machine’s dance area, so his head didn’t need to raise up too much even though she was in heels. Rising alongside his noggin was his brow, exposing some of his curiosity alongside his amusement by her confrontation. His sly, mischievous smirk began to flared wide enough to reveal teeth. This Rin girl was probably here just to keep face. That was part of being a good hostess after all, not to let your guests feel excluded. Her commiseration was offensive, or at least the idea of it was. Only he could scorn himself. But in actuality, Akagai truly did appreciated it. Growing a bit flustered now, the boy’s gaze was directed as far away from the girl as the corner of his eye would allow. He began to scratch the back of his head before responding. “It’s cool,” he said, moving his hands to his pockets, still avoiding eye contact. His head even turned to the side a bit. He couldn’t even face her. “You don’t have to worry about me, just enjoy your—”Head still turned slightly to the side, the boy did at least work up enough gallantry to look at her. “—party…” He finished. The boy kept an eye on the girl, but he didn’t stare. He scanned her figure and outfit in a relaxed, casual, way. He wanted to compliment her dress and say it looked good on her, but he didn’t want the girl to think that he liked her or anything. He wasn’t sure who he liked in regards to the class yet. Though, as a teenage boy a relationship was something that always peaked his interest, since, he’d never been in one before. The idea that he could play his quirk for her laid in the back of his mind, that was the only way he could make up for not bringing a gift. But like with the compliment, Akagai chickened out. He couldn’t suggest it before she walked off. Almost disappointed in himself, he prepared to insert his coins into the machine before another approached him. Perhaps Akagai’s challenge was the right call after all? Taking a peak at the newcomer, the boy’s eyes widened. This one was rather tall. She wore practically the same thing as him, a shirt and loose shorts. Akagai’s shirt being one that represented Paramore’s After Laughter album. The shirt read ‘Hard Times’ in curvy violet font then ‘Paramore’ below it in their usual font. The shirt itself was black, as were the boy’s gym shorts, socks, and sneakers. “Whoa,” he uttered to himself beneath his breath. Listening to her as she literally stepped up to the plate, Akagai immediately felt the urgent need to reveal something to her. Though honest, it was something she undoubtedly would have found unpleasant, as the truth usually was. “I will utterly and completely annihilate you.” He said earnestly, and even more than that, confidently. Akagai smiled his twisted smirk and inserted his coins, initiating the game.

Maria was not surprised in the slightest by Rin's reaction. The girl's flustered response made Maria's lips curve upwards forming a faint smile. At the very least Maria was glad that Rin wasn't troubled by her presence. She hadn't been completely sure what the response was going to be, considering her clandestine background and the fact that these were all U.A. students, but so far there didn't seem to be an issue being raised by anyone, not even the other students who most likely had no idea who she was. But as Rin had suggested, Maria would go ahead and change that. Offering a smile and a nod to Rin, Maria then turned her attention to the other guests.
She had no intention to go overboard with fraternizing with them. A villain getting too close with too many future heroes was just a poor plan that would backfire for someone sooner or later. However, that didn't mean that she couldn't make herself a least a bit popular with the group who was kind enough to show up to Rin's birthday. Maria quickly looked them over, taking note of everyone. They all seemed like kids really. Of course, considering that Maria was just a couple years older than most of them, it was probably a bit too much of her to call them kids, but she couldn't really help herself. The difference in age combined with the fact that they were all students really went a long way to make Maria feel like the "adult" of the party, which she technically was. But, even with that in mind, Maria didn't regard them as average children. That was impossible from the start. For one, they all had quirks presumably. While nowadays it was becoming rare for an individual to not have a quirk, it was still worth mentioning. Beyond that however, they had all chosen the hero career path. For Maria that was always something interesting. Heroes, villains and vigilantes. No matter what role one picked, society would always view them in a different light. No matter how mundane this party really seemed and no matter how casual everyone was, Maria wasn't quite willing to lump those present in with any other group of civilians or kids. Though it wasn't something she could just change her mind on, she did push the thought to the back of her mind. Constantly thinking about what they were and what she was would only get in the way of things today. Not that it was something she struggled with. As long as Maria felt that a situation was under control she was practically immune to tension. Being pleasant and amiable in those situations was almost second nature.
She cleared her throat and raised her voice a bit, addressing everyone present. "Greetings everyone. My name's Maria, I'm a friend of Rin's." as she spoke she glanced over to the birthday girl for a moment, almost as if indicating why she was there. "Although I'm a bit older and not a U.A. student I hope I'll be able to fit in with you today." her voice was as genuine as could be, Maria truly meant what she said. "And oh, I'll be taking care of the bill for games, drinks and whatever else comes up, so please go wild." Maria finished her introduction with a generous gift. Though throwing money around like that could be a bit suspicious, she didn't feel like it was too much. It should get her started with everyone on the right foot and make a positive first impression. Besides, they were students and she had a steady source of income. It was perfectly rational for her to accommodate them in that regard.
Having made her little announcement Maria walked trough the arcade taking a look around, seeing what might catch her interest. Whether it be a game or a student.

Elizabeth raised her shoulders a little. "Thank you, Kurama," she answered. Trying to remember what the proper etiquette was, she did a quick bow, matching Rin's. "I really appreciate it." She left, and Elizabeth realized--she hadn't mentioned the fact that she'd brought a gift along. Rin seemed so preoccupied dealing with everyone else that she didn't want to stop her again to ask her. Elizabeth guessed she could just drop them somewhere and let Rin enjoy them later. There was a table that already seemed to have other gifts on it, and she deposited her candy there. She hadn't gotten a card or anything, but she supposed that it wasn't really about getting credit. Rin would like it (hopefully) and that was really what mattered. When she'd done that, Elizabeth looked back around. She saw two of her classmates getting ready to play a game of DDR; she wasn 't sure how good she'd be at that game. A woman that looked, maybe a little older, offered to pay for all their drinks and food, and unfortunately that made Elizabeth's 'wolf brain' clamor to get her attention. FOOD. Get like, three pieces of pizza and stack them on top of each other so you can eat them all at once--She shook her head. She hated having wolf instincts sometimes. It was impolite to take up someone's offer by spending thirty dollars on pizza and anyway, a party usually had some food. She could wait. Her eyes stopped on what looked like a game of skeeball. That was one game she'd actually played; Elizabeth walked past Maria on her way to it, stopping and nodding in her direction. "Thank you, you're very generous," she said, feeling that the acknowledgement was necessary. She turned back around, walking up to the skeeball machine and popping a quarter in it. The balls rolled down and she grabbed one. She played softball before, and Elizabeth rolled the plastic sphere in her hands, getting into a stance like a pitcher. "HA!" She exclaimed, pitching underhanded as hard as she could. It smacked hard against the top before rolling down into the outermost circle; ten points. Elizabeth frowned, getting ready for another try.

I often feel like a butterfly with broken wings Rinkusu really was someone who enjoyed seeing others happy. She could've spoken generally to everyone that decided to show up, but instead she made sure to talk to every single guest one by one, making sure everyone was feeling good and confortable at the arcade.
It was because of this characteristic of the girl that, when Ryuusei arrived, she made sure to welcome him straight way. He wasn't expecting it, being that there were so many other people there and that he arrived kind of late, but he made sure to act as normal as possible. However, a little hidden smile could be seen on his face.
Rin asked if Ryuu, as the class vice-president, could welcome some of the new students that were present at the birthday party. That would be... difficult. It was, however, something that the boy couldn't really refuse. First because he was, in fact, the class vice-president and that was one of his duties. Secondly, well... because it was Rin who asked. And she asked with a specially bright smile that made Ryuu's hidden one more noticeable, even if he didn't intend too.
Yes, of course... I-I'll try my best. But before that...
He reached for his little bag that hanged on his shoulder. From there, he took out a transparent cd case that had, obviously, a cd inside it. Holding it with both of his hands, he extend those arms, indicating that the cd was, in fact, a gift to the black-haired girl. The case had only two words written on it: "To Rin."
Happy birthday, Rin-chan, he said, his tone different from the previous "Hey."
After this little exchange and Rin hopefully accepting the gift, Ryuu started to go in the direction of the boy that the class president had pointed to. However, before he could reach him, Malene - a classmate that he knew but never talked to - got there before him.
Well, that's taken care of, he thought.
What was there to do then? Sit in a corner alone while time passed by? Surely he had to at least try and talk to someone. It was wile thinking about this that the woman with the long green haired presented herself to everyone. Maria, friend's with Rin, not a student, paying for everything. Those were basically the bulletpoints of her speech. Ryuu had a weird habit of remembering information this way.
He decided that she would be the one he was going to try to talk to. For some reason, he felt more confortable initiating conversation with someone he didn't knew at all than with one of his classmates, who he saw everyday day but never really talked to. Maria was walking around the arcade when Ryuu approached her.
I'm Igarashi Ryuusei, nice to meet you - he said, waving a bit with his right hand before putting it back on his trousers pocket - So, uhm, how did you and Rin meet?
He thought that it was really the only question he could ask, being that Rin was the reason both of them were there and, probably, the only thing they had in common. That and he really didn't have a conversation plan for after he presented himself, so that question was all that came up to his mind.
