She had a brand new black backpack. She enjoyed how new things felt. She could have pampered herself, but she was always prioritizing food. She had plenty of money to burn, but didn't do so. She had all of her wealth from her odd jobs and the scrapping at the lab, but today she just wanted to get something a little extra. She wore a brand new black sundress that went to just above her knee. Her pants were navy slacks and her feet were wrapped in cloth. Her pink hair danced as she walked around with the light breeze, and the small horns on her head remained apparent. They weren't anything special for her quirk, but she enjoyed them, an she kept them. She walked the streets, a smile on her face and a belly full of a heavy breakfast and discarded food, She was going to see what else she could find today, before she would go to the school to see if she could get her interview. For now, she would let adventure find her, as well as the world around her. For now, she would explore the city, and she would not be disappointed. She never was. ~ 201 ~

Kei Utagawa
[Yuuei Student]
It had taken him approximately two days to realize that there was nothing unique about Yuuei, other than its existence itself. He had moved in for his first year at the new school for quirks, and something deep down had been excited for the move. There had to be something unique about a town that could house such a school, right? What would it be like? There had to be something that would catch him off guard, sweep him off his feet, and make him realize how truly unique of a situation he was now in.
Fantasy, however, was often better than reality. As it turned out, the school itself was what set this place apart from everywhere else. There was the argument to be made that people seemed much more comfortable walking around the streets, the cultural shift brought about with quirks being sped up by the appearance of a foundation being raised in that name. The city itself, however, was no different than any other city in Japan. There was a thriving night life, the bustle of business men during the day, and students from schools all over the area simply looking for things to do. Perhaps they, too, had been seduced by the allure of the unknown and different.
Well, that's a buzzkill.
That wasn't to say he disliked the area. In truth, he had yet to begin his classes. He had met only one person who attended school with him, a woman who had helped him find his dorm. She had been nice enough, but really didn't stick out as being different from any other person their age despite what made her already unique. To be fair he was no different. Would anyone meet him, knowing he was from Yuuei at a glance? It was unlikely, especially given that his quirk gave off no physical manifestation.
His thoughts continued down this path of self reflection until it cost him. Turning a corner, without thinking, he found himself face to face with a girl. Well, that was to say he found himself in front of a woman a bit shorter than he. His reaction time was excellent, luckily, allowing them to avoid direct confrontation as he jumped back a half step. His arms went up to either side of his head, his weight being thrown on his back foot and allowing a small space between them, a quick "Sorry!" being shot out with genuine concern.
As he regained normal footing and took yet another half step back, allowing normal distance between them, he looked warily at the person before him. "Sorry, I should have been watching where I was going." He reemphasized his apology. He may have been an overly confident individual at times, but he was by no means rude. "Are you okay?"

That certainly was new. But what was she to expect? She was cut off from the world for far too long. She serve her time as a street rat, rummaging for food in trash bins and sometimes begging for scraps. That was how it was until she turned sixteen. For the last few years she had stuck herself into the work force, trying to make a difference in her life. She knew, whatever she did, would never undo what was done to her. But at least now, she could at least try to make a world where her pains would never be repeated onto another soul. At least in this life she could do better. This life. She only had one life. "A bit lost." she would answer. She always avoided dealing with people, but for now, until her life was set, she would deal with a few more lost souls. "Do you know where Yuuei is?" she asked, thinking only of the life she would have after going. It was the answer to everything she needed, and for G, it was his answer to peace. She would watch over his girl, and he would allow her to explore her own untamed power. Such was their trade. ~ 207 ~

Kei Utagawa [Yuuei Student]
The girl was only ever so slightly shorter than him, but her appearance was quite unique. Her hair was an unnatural pink color, one that looked as though it were natural rather than being dyed in that fashion. Protruding from her head were two tiny horns, and like her hair he could not tell if they were naturally forming or some sort of addition to her appearance that she had invested in. Her eyes were a bright blue, much like his own, and her pink eyeliner seemed much more expensive than the cloth that covered her body. She had a faint scent to her that he had only caught via proximity, but it was not unpleasant.
Her words were such that their conversation was completely redirected. Rather than continue along the path of apology and forgiveness, it appeared she hardly noticed their near collision at all. Her appearance was blank, one he couldn't read even if he had tried. Rather than address his statement as it was intended, she directed it towards her own confusion. She was lost, which was made clear by her stating such. Luckily for her, and completely coincidental, it seemed as though her intended location was a place that he had recently discovered himself.
She wished to go to Yuuei, the new school dedicated to students who intended to gain some form of mastery over their quirks. The intent was to create the new generation of Heroes, a new concept that was demanded by both the government and society as a whole. Being a new student there, even after only a few days, he of course knew how to get back. That said, he had left campus for a reason. Doubling back now, without attaining anything he had left for, seemed counterproductive. How willing to compromise was this girl?
"I do," he began, none of his doubt being conveyed in either his facial expression nor his voice. "I am on my way to grab a drink and snack. If you'd be willing to follow me while I grab that, I can take you back to Yuuei with me?"

To get, you must be willing to give something of equal or greater value. That was her life. She had to offer parts of herself, in order to get what she needed. "Well if that's the case," she would say, "I'll pay for the both of us."IF she was going to increase her own lively hood by arriving to the school, it was only fair to offer the boy that took her there, a bit of the wealth. To her, it was a trade in her favor, and with the already acquired fortune. It was pocket change compared to the throne she was ready to call her home. "Lead the way then!" she spoke enthusiastically, also hopeful in the small treat for herself. Food was always on her mind, as well as Setsuna's. It was going to be a good day if it was heading this route. Everything was happening according to plan. If it continued, she could get her job that same day, if not the one that followed. She already lived close by, so a commune was non existent. The question was where in the school to go, after all, they didn't want complete strangers wandering around the school. She needed a guide, and this boy would do perfect. ~ 212 ~

"Ah, I appreciate it. I can get my own though, it's no problem." This was not just a matter of being polite to this stranger who had offered to pay for his food, as well as hers. While that was common practice to initially decline such an offer, it was also the fact that he knew nothing of this person. To take their money in that case would be reckless. He didn't know how her funds were, and judging on what she was wearing, she needed her spare change much more than he. Regardless, he led the way without waiting for a response. She was approximately his height, so their strides did not vary enough to form a gap between them. Only a slight lag separated the two, leaving him unable to further take in the girls unique look.
Their walk did not last even a minute though. He had already all but made it to his destination before the near collision that happened on the sidewalk, and as he opened the door for her, the smell within was enough to make his mouth water. It was just a convenient store, but one that made food inside. While it was nothing healthy, it was certainly nice smelling. It was enjoying these wafting smells through the air that he walked around with the girl, and he decided he should get to know this stranger he was leading. "I'm Kei," he said, unprompted by anything but the silence that had formed between them. He grabbed some miniature donuts and a bag of chips, dropping them into a handheld carrier that had been set up on the inside of the door.
After she introduced herself, or even if she didn't, he grabbed a few more treats and headed over to the drink section. If she had not, he would have asked her for her name. After that, with or without an answer, he would get to the real meat of the issue that had formed. "So do you mind me asking what business you have at Yuuei?" The question was innocent enough. Still, if she was observant enough, she'd see that his body had tensed up ever so slightly. His hand still moved slowly to grab drinks, but his body was ever so slightly turned towards her. There was suspicion on his body language, and subtly hinted on his lips. He wanted to know more about this stranger, and he wanted to be able to feel comfortable leading her to his school.

Simple things kept her amused. For now, it was the goal of food. If he declined, it was of no lose to her, she was ready to buy her own meal anyways. She would follow him, allowing him to lead. She watched him, rather intensively. She was curious as to what class he was in, as well as his quirk. The students were known for power and their drive to be a hero, but she knew well enough, many of them would fall from glory and turn to the other side. It was the reason she played her own games, her own way. She would follow him in to a convenience store she was all but too familiar with. She smiled as he walked in, the man at the register smiled at her, just as they always did. There was no need for her to have a conversation with him, there was nothing she had to say to the man, he was of no importance to her life. She grabbed her own basket and followed the man. She had grabbed cupcakes, chips and packaged pound cakes. ". . . and I'm Kasey" she would answer in reply. She she followed him around she would grab several bottled sodas, as well as single iced coffee. On the other side, she would grab a packaged sandwich, or two rather. And again, he would speak. "For the open job." she answered. "A week ago I saw an advert for a school janitor. I've been both a maid and janitor for various companies and businesses for the past few years. If the school needed one, I was going to apply there." she gave her answer with more words than needed. She knew if she was going to get anywhere with him, he needed to relax. "Plus I also live closer to the school than my other jobs. Also i heard there was other openings as well, so I figured I'd try them all." he didn't seemed to be one who would be swayed so easily, so he continued, with grabbing various things, until she filled her basket with a lot of junk foods. "I don't know my way around, so I've been trying to get help to be guided in. I didn't want to appear like a psychopath wandering the school grounds. I'm pretty sure that's against the law, and I don't need to ruin my perfectly clean record."~ 405 ~

Kei Utagawa
[Yuuei Student]
This girl was most certainly strange. Kei had asked a very simple, straight forward question. The answer should have therefore been equally simple. Short, sweet, concise, just enough to deter his suspicions of this strange individual. While there may have been reason for an individual to answer his question with a much more drawn out response, one would expect there to have been a special reason behind that. What he got instead was a drawn out answer, one that dove into details he didn't need and precipice that was not required. She seemed dedicated to making sure her answer was believable, and it was that exact method of responding that made it so suspicious. She may have thought herself witty, possibly thinking she took up the physical clues of his suspicion and rolled with the punches. Reality couldn't be further from the truth. When the only clues to his suspicion were hidden away in his body language, in the way he glanced at her when she wasn't looking and ensuring his body was pointed towards her at all times, they would be difficult to pick up on.
Difficult unless one was looking for them.
Why would she need to? What had driven her to this level of paranoia that she was analyzing a random student, buying snacks to head back towards his dorm, that she was explaining her entire life away? Instantly his suspicion of her raised another two notches, but truth be told, he would still take her to the school. Yuuei was suppose to be the premier spot to train future heroes, a developmental location for quirks and personalities alike. If one girl who couldn't even find the school was a threat that was insurmountable, how would he expect to learn anything from that school at all?
Kei paid for his snacks and drinks, making his way outside once he was sure that Kasey had also finished purchasing her goods. As the door closed, he looked ahead and began walking. At this point he was doing something that would not make sense if one was truly suspicious. He was walking in front of her, back exposed, without any proof that he was wary of her at all. It was at this moment when his guard seemed down that he spoke up with another question. "So, what makes you want to work at Yuuei?" The school was a first of its kind, transcending borders of class and race. Regardless of how numb one was to society, such a school meant something to everyone in at least some degree. What, he wondered, did it mean to her?

Perhaps she overthought it. Perhaps she looked far too much into the conversation. It wasn't like it was a common thing in her life. All of her jobs until now, were as far from human interaction as possible. That was why she was content with jobs like being a custodian. She got to work, almost never having to deal with people. There was little to no confrontation, outside of being told to wax or wipe things down. Perhaps the work of a servant was better, but even so she didn't like the idea of it. She followed the boy to the register, only to set the basket on the counter after he was done. The man looked through her mountain of supplies and she quickly handed him a golden credit card to pay for her goods. It wasn't so much as to flaunt her money, but it was something bright enough that she would stop losing them. Each of them had a maximum that was rather low. None of them tapped into her true wealth. But even so, the man would simply nod, not accepting her money. Kasey couldn't remember the reason, but she thought nothing off it. With a smile, he bagged her items and sent the girl on her way. Now she was left with two large questions. Was the boy going to lead her to the school, and what did she do to make the man so kind to her? "The same reason anyone wants a job." she would answer him, "Money. Plus I hear the benefits are really good."To her, it was just another job. It didn't matter if it was for the good of the world, or the darkness of the underworld. Her life was centered around money and paying for things. When she amassed the fortune she wanted, perhaps then she could take a rest, but not now, and not soon. She didn't care what the school stood for, or what it did. All she knew was that it was dirty, and she was going to be the one to purify it. ~ 349 ~

It had taken until now, but finally Kasey was starting to gain some trust from her new acquaintance. Her previous responses had put Kei on edge, making him doubt her authenticity and sincerity. Now, however, it seemed like she was relaxing around him and starting to be more like herself. It made sense, he thought, for someone to be nervous upon first contact with a stranger. Especially such a sudden meeting as they had experienced, it was not as though she had been searching him out. Still, it made him breathe a sigh of relief when she gave such a short and direct response to his question. It was not as though she had been able to read his body language or mind, and it was unlikely that she had guessed that he was suspicious of her. Such acts would obviously go against common sense. No, the most likely scenario was indeed that she was feeling more relaxed around him.
"... Fair enough. Well, if you happen to get the job, I'll likely see you around the campus." That was her first confirmation that he was indeed a student at Yuuei. He had not been wearing any sort of school uniform, and he had not been carrying any pendants of the school. She had likely asked him for directions under the assumption that he was a local, but now she would know for sure that he was indeed a student there. This revealed quite a few things about himself, including the likely possibility that he was aiming to become a hero whilst working on mastery of her quirk. That sort of subtle warning was done so that if she were indeed planning on something nefarious, those plans would now become much more complicated. She'd have no way of knowing his quirk, his mastery of it, or his intentions and thus she would most definitely have to rearrange her plans. Still, had she been completely genuine and was indeed only hoping to get a job, it was likely this train of thought would have never even crossed her mind. Together, they had already made it halfway back to the school. Silence had settled between them once more, and this time she was given the opportunity to choose between continuing conversation or silence.

It was a useless thought, but she made note to remember it. It was nothing more than an idea that popped into her head. She would begin to make gifts for the people that helped her, as a token of her thanks. But even so, her bag was full of various objects, both for weapons, and others as toys. They were nothing more than her making the most of her quirk, and making various objects in her spare time. Maybe some were more useful than others, and maybe others were just to waste time. She had followed him back to the school, his words again appearing as if he did not wish to deal with her, or that he didn't wish to deal with anyone. She was not one to pry. He was a student, having him be so close to the school of their first meeting was her first guess, but now he confirmed it. "What kinda guy is the principal?" she'd ask, a bit confused herself now, as to why she even wanted the job. " . . . Would it be too much to ask for you to take me there, or at least to a map that can show me?" she was lost, and horrible with directions. If he had ill will, he could have taken her to anywhere and she would have believed it the same. The school was just another location to work at, just like the mansions and other places shes been to. ~ 250 ~

"The principle?" His words came across quietly, hardly audible even if she had been fully focused. He looked ahead, tilting his head upwards in a thoughtful expression as he wondered about her question. It wasn't as though he was trying to find the right words to answer her. He was trying to figure out why he himself had not been given an answer to that question. "I have no idea. I'm new to this school. I can try to help you find your way, though." His words came out concise again, his suspicion of her not yet dispersed. His eyes glanced backwards to her again, looking her up and down once. He was not measuring her up, nor was he checking her out in a sexual manner. If one had to put it into words then the best way to do so would be to say he was memorizing exactly what she looked like one last time.
"I assume they're really something though. The principle." They had to be. Male or female, quirk or quirkless. He had no idea who the person was, let alone what they were capable of. It wasn't like such information was secret, or at least he didn't think so. Still, he had never gone out of his way to figure out the answer. Whoever it was had to be impressive though. To willingly step in a position where they were responsible for tens, if not hundreds, of students. That made them responsible for the students safety, education, and growth. Since it was likely not an assigned position, as it was still in the public domain, it meant whoever went for the job had to have the utmost confidence. Perhaps he'd get a chance to meet them as well?

She hummed in thought to herself. He didn't really give her an answer to either of her questions. It was something she just had to deal with. She would go as far as he would take her, and she would leave herself to discover the rest of it to herself. It was just a job, wasn't like it was something crazy. It was the bottom of the food chain, and most likely held the least amount of requirements. She would have to find out more about the man in charge, or woman, whoever it was. "I guess they'll be the only one with the answers . . . " she spoke to herself, lightly, ignoring his looks upon her. It seemed as if the school was as mysterious to the students as it was to the rest of the world. That was something worth noting. Maybe it was for security reasons. Maybe it was to protect the children from harmful villains. That was the only guess she could make. It was the only thing that made sense. It wasn't like all of the students were just.. there, right? She reached into the bags and begun to take out some snacks. She didn't even both unwrapping most of them. Her teeth would turn into sharp fangs and shards as she tore the candy and sandwiches open. The bags were getting heavy, and they needed to be lightened. There was no better way than to eat it. ~ 245 ~

Kei had not been watching her, as he was leading the way. Due to this, the hints she had just given as to what her powers were had not been witnessed. Whether or not she did so consciously, or it was just common behavior for her, he'd have no way of gauging. The fact that she had just instantly been able to sharpen her teeth to a degree in which biting through packaging was simply would not be known to Kei. To him, she would remain an enigma whom he knew next to nothing about.
That aside, he had made the decision that she was of no threat. He had purposely exposed his back to her a multitude of times in order to gauge that, and yet here they were in a cordial environment. If she had plans for the school that would involve harming individuals, he'd have long since been targeted. Regardless of becoming a hostage or a victim, neither of those possibilities came to be. In his mind, she was now in the category of someone who did not mean harm, or was too incompetent to pose a true threat.
"I stay on campus." His words came without warning, prompt, or signal. They simply formed, a truth that was not requested. "Regardless of if you end up working here, if you see me around feel free to say hey or let me know if you need help. I can't promise that I will be able to provide, but the option is there for you." It seemed out of character, he was sure of it. The man whom she likely assumed was devoid of emotion or kindness now going out of his way to extend a hand of friendship. What was she thinking right now? What facial expression was she wearing? He'd have no way of knowing.
Before long they had made it to the main school building. Above, she'd be able to find the principles office. Though she had not said so, he'd decided that someone showing up for a job interview escorted by a teenager would likely not be the professional appearance she needed. So, without explaining way, he decided this would end their journey together. "The principles office should be just upstairs, as far as I am aware. Regardless, here's the building." There was a decent probability that the room he thought to be the office of the principle was just a regular teachers office, but it was the best bet he had. She would soon be able to find the location despite of that, though. It wasn't as though the building was of endless size.

Well, it was as she thought. This was as far as the road would take her. He didn't know much about it himself and there wasn't much to blame for that. Maybe he was a really new student. She had no way of really knowing. She moved the bags to one of her hands, having emptied them from her treats. She would most likely toss out the leftover bags as she got closer to the office. "Oh, of course!" she would speak in enjoyment that she had at least now made a friend out of him. Perhaps people who welcomed her company would make the job a little more bearable. Maybe she could bring in some things from the outside cites into the school for some of the students to enjoy. She imagined the courses and classes would be tough. Perhaps little luxuries were not in their lives, such as phones and computers. She tried to imagine a life like that, perhaps they lived how she used to. Maybe she could help them all relax and help study. In her mind, it was the perfect plan. He had directed her to go to the top floor to find his office, and as such she would do. She would bow to him, folding her hands over her chest, still holding the bags. "Thank you very much Mister Kei." she would tell him. If there was nothing more to discuss then she would be on her way. There was a lot to discover. ~ 251 ~
