WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Puppets were now idly walking the streets of the little makeshift town. Their movements baggy and strange, clearly not humanoid. It was, however, the best that they could offer on such a short notice. Everything had been prepared for the upcoming event. Ground Beta had successfully been established. Ground Beta was an enormous 1 by 1 kilometer large square with four entrances/exits. Within this square, a faux city had been created, modelled on popular locations from Tokyo, Musutafu and Osaka primarily. The faux city had four major areas, which sported slightly different building layouts. One area had primarily the rural influence. Houses were slightly larger at the base floor, more traditional in nature, with more spacing and open areas around each building. The buildings also weren't terribly tall, primarily one to three storied. The secondary area was a generic housing area you could find in the middle of the city. Several taller buildings, upwards of twelve stories, lay placed here. The housing was primarily rentable appartments. At the street level, ther were also a series of convenience stores and other shopping needs. The third area was an industrial area, filled with larger than average buildings, pipes and such things. Smoke seemed to rise from many of the silos. The main traffic here seemed to be large trucks. Finally, there was the entertainment area. Clubs, cafés, casinos, bars, bowling alley, laser-tag. Practically everything you'd desire when having a fantastic night out.
Populating these areas, were practically what one could expect. There was traffic, driving casually around the city. Taxis, trucks, pickups. It was clear that these fauxes weren't actual cars, as much as mash of paper on rails, but it looked reasonable enough. There were individuals walking the streets, exchanging good by stands and otherwise trying to appear like normal city-life. Granted, since they were puppets created by a quirk, they were very limited in function, but at least the city felt somewhat populated. It was within this little faux city, that the obstacle part of the competition would take place. Ningyo, being ever impartial, would ensure that neither teams gained an unfair advantage...
Scattered across the city as well, were strangely marked levers, positioned mainly by areas that seemed particularly trafficed. These levers took some time to activate, giving off an indication to the hero team of exactly where the lever was being activated from. Once activated the levers would be generating some kind of disaster. For instance, the lights could all switch to green, causing a massive pileup in the middle of the road. Scaffolding could begin falling down, severely hurting everyone caught underneath. In short, disasters on demand. Disaster levers. The competition would be fairly simple. One team would be pretend-heroes. The other team would be pretend-villains. The hero team would start with two-hundred points. If a villain managed to entirely escape the exercise, the heroes would lose fifty. In addition, each civillian hurt by the activation of a disaster lever, would deduct another five points. Once enough time had passed, or all the points had been deducted, the exercise would then swap the teams, meaning the hero team would become villains and vice versa.
In essence, heroes were meant to capture the villains while securing and ensuring the safety of civillians. The villains were meant to cause as much disaster as possible, while avoiding being caught. To catch a villain, all the hero team would have to do, was touch the villain and apply a captured mark onto their clothes. As such, standing your ground to fight as the villain may not be the smartest solution. From there, it was a judgement call. Would you prioritize escaping..? Would you feel more confident in causing some disasters, sealing away some of your opponent's points that way?... There were many ways to approach this, and it had Ningyo somewhat excited to see what the students may choose. Licking her lips joyously, she awaited the arrival of those that would go Seventh.

Post by Saiko Tachibana on Feb 21, 2019 20:27:01 GMT -4
Saiko found herself pacing within the waiting area of what would soon be the proving grounds for many of heroes in training, UA or otherwise. Schools across the world were looking to putting on display what their programs had to offer, in hopes of both impressing outside sources, and to establish themselves as the peak of skill and education. Some fought to till they could no longer stand, while others worked with team members in a show of unity, something desperately needed in this time of division between quirks and non quirks. Saiko was hardly different in looking to solidify her improvement as a hero, through the doubts and disdain for her quirk, she still ultimately came to UA for one purpose. To be like her vigilante father, Ironclad Valor, and protect those that couldn't protect themselves. People like a young Saiko. People with quirks that were alone and afraid in a city of people that targeted them with hate and discrimination. It might have been a selfish reason, but it was one of the few things keeping her hope afloat. If she lost her cause, if she no longer had the drive to become a hero...what else would she have? By the end of this, Saiko wanted to at least show her father that she was serious about her training, and though she didn't necessarily think she had been around UA long enough to learn a whole lot, Saiko would have to give everything she had to break those limits. Despite the concern that crept over her skills being put on stage for all to see, it didn't actually bother Saiko as much as it should have. Saiko was one that becomes deathly serious when focused, and focus was never needed more than the given moment. As Saiko cased the starting area in planning, she stared out towards what would soon be their testing grounds. The mock city was familiar to the student, for the most part, as she had lived in Osaka for entirety of her life until moving to UA. It would hopefully give her a massive boon if she could stick to the layout of the replicated Osaka, though the situation would, of course, mold to whatever suited the moment. Saiko watched the peculiar, puppet like being that simulated civilians that wandered the city in typical daily affairs, finding herself drawn to their oddity. Saiko had always been interested in the workings of AI, and the ins and outs of how they operated, and seeing these strangely baggy, humanoid creatures trying to enact a normal humans life with the quirks and mistakes that only artificial intelligence can make fascinated her. Perhaps, after all of this was over, Saiko could attempt to seek out the creator of the sentient beings and ask more in detail about it. Or, more likely, Saiko wouldn't bother and it would just linger in her mind because she wouldn't find it in herself to actually try and find out who made them. With a sigh, Saiko cleared her mind. She had to stay focused above all else. It had come to a surprise to Saiko, and likely many of the other students, that the obstacle course was actually more of a gauge of navigation and decision making over simple mobility, which could have swayed many students selection of what they signed up for. However, it didn't affect Saiko any. Though the knowledge that she would be gaining a partner during the test, it didn't especially change Saiko's mindset. She had come to win, and to give it her all. Her earlier run ins with both Relena and Rowan, along with her parents, had spurred a sort of fire in her, and she felt that revitalized energy fuel her. Though Saiko still couldn't bring herself to claiming them as friends outright, they were the closest she had now, and it gave her a second outlook of UA. Relena claimed to have an strange kinship with her, and seemed drawn to her, whatever that might entitle. Saiko chalked it up to the bokken wielding blond as the type of person that wanted to cheer up sullen people...which Saiko had plenty of. Even through all the odd behaviors of the girl, she never treated Saiko poorly, and was friendly at the very least. Rowan was almost the opposite in regards to personality to Relena, and that sort of fire and drive that Rowan gave off, despite the normally strenuous subject of Semper Fi and the racism quirkers like herself had to endure, was a breath of fresh air. Saiko was the type to be reserved and keep to herself for the most part, and it was because of this that Rowan helped her realize that her past suffering and ridicule was just that. In the past. Saiko wasn't alone, with many other students likely having suffered similar to her. Though it would be a mountain to climb, at least she realized now that nobody at UA would treat her as such. At least...that was the hope. This resolve surged in her heart like a source of fuel, and Saiko was ready. Prepping herself, she had consumed plenty of the offered stall foods that contained more than her normal sources of sodium to kick start her quirk, and stretched her body to get her muscles limber while still wearing her UA gym uniform because...she never bothered seeking out getting a hero outfit. To much work for her, and she wouldn't even know where to begin. The rules seemed simple enough, and all she had to do was await her team member now. It mattered little who it was, because by the end of this, Saiko would have given it her all. No matter the opponents, no matter the scenario or whom won or lost. This was to show improvement, and Saiko had no intentions of limiting herself. With her quirk dripping down her form from her hair in a slow, steady flow not unlike an oil slick, Saiko felt more ready than ever before. This was the moment she needed to melt away the fears and doubts. This competition. This victory for UA. - E-Rank Quirk (Mobility/Speed and Bind/Stun)

WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy One of the teachers had escorted Aki to where she needed to go. The redhead had been utterly confused, lost, roaming around looking for the place to be, before a friendly soul had offered to guide her to her location. Apparently they were having some kind of exam of their abilities. The idea that someone wished to see how good of a hunter Aki was, was somewhat heartwarming. Finally she'd get to show, and make everyone appreciate, what a skilled huntress could do. Coming running, the redheaded wildling spotted the one she was meant to be on team with. Waving energetically, the tiny girl came to a stop next to Saiko, offering an immediate greeting despite being out of breath. "Hi Psycho! Am Aki, we team!" Aki exclaimed with glee, excited as one ought to be for the amazing time that was to come! Prior to this little competition with the other school, Aki had been instructed thoroughly on how the event would work, so as to not do things that were, by the game's rules, considered illegal. Bouncing up and down ever so slightly, Aki began mouthing off on what her abilities were. It was, again, a suggestion by the teachers. To simply introduce what she could do, so that hopefully, a more accustomed teammate, would be able to accomodate her lack of understanding some."Aki can learn quirk things by tasting friend. Like, if friend has fire Aki learn fire!... Aki need taste friend to have quirk, else Aki quirkless. Sometimes Aki not know what quirk Aki learn from tasting friend. Aki is real bad with water. They not listen what Aki say or want. Thunder and fire Aki good with. They really fun!" The girl rattled off in an extremely quick fashion, attempting to explain what she was capable of. Though, the truth sorta was, that Aki wasn't capable of all that much. The girl's quirk was volatile and had many different iterations. It meant that Aki, with each different element, had a lot to learn. It was like attempting to master six different quirks, where other students simply had to master one. As a result, Aki was horribly behind. Not only had she not been able to increase her power with her quirk in general, she still hadn't gained complete control over the full spectrum of what her quirk could do. In part because those that seemed to offer wind and water to her as abilities, weren't the ones she enjoyed hanging out with the most. At least not up until this point. "Aki also good huntress. Stealth and hunt, good good." Aki nodded sagely. As the self proclaimed number one huntress at Yuuei, she had her confidence in check."What kind of stuff Psycho can do?.. We have good teamwork?" Aki asked curiously, tilting her head to the side and inspecting her teammate from an angle. Until this point, Aki had been rattling off words at the rate of a machinegun, hardly allowing any kind of interruption. Now, Saiko had a few moments to capture Aki's attention before the city, and it's moving puppets, became more interesting than the conversation.

This whole trip had been one big unmitigated disaster! She had committed herself mentally to going out into the festival and enjoy the food, talk up the locals, and maybe make a friend. At least, that was the plan. Upon actually reaching for the door leading out of her room, she froze up and immediately felt the urge to vomit from the anxiety...in the end, she ate in while sitting alone. Wallowing in her own misery and self doubt. That was how it was leading up to the actual Sports Festival event. Excommunicated from all the happiness and laughter coming from the outside world. Who knew? Maybe all the excitement would have caused her heart to explode and she'd drop dead right there in front of everyone! How embarrassing... Amanda Chevrolet hadn't gotten much sleep as she lay like a log on her bed, eyes widening as she listened to the tell tale beat of her heart that pounded so hard it threatened to burst from her chest. She wouldn't blame it for wanting to escape. Who would want to live inside a pathetic, weak quirker like her? So she had decided to get dressed in her uniform that pronounced a simple blend of blue and gold to represent her school. It was a little too snug for her taste and accentuated her body a little too much for her own modest mentality. But there was nothing to be done about it as she looked at herself in the mirror. I swear, a slight breeze could knock me over.
Amanda made her way in the direction of Ground Beta while chewing on a piece of buttered toast, fidgeting at her collar, griping at how tight it was. She felt like it was constricting her, which only made her feel that much more nervous. What if she couldn't use her quirk properly? What if she let her partner down and they end up losing? Oh...I don't want to get yelled at.
At the thought of her partner, Amanda scratched at her chin. It was going to be Manuel! Oh why did they have to put her with him!? She didn't even want to do this Obstacle Course in the first place! But someone had to work with him...and she didn't have the nerve to say no. Her eyes widened at the thought of working with someone so loud. She scratched at her cheeks and then at her neck. Why was she so itchy all of a sudden? To say that the girl was woefully unprepared for all of this was an understatement. She didn't speak Japanese, her partner was ill suited to her mentality, and she hadn't gotten a wink of sleep. Maybe she was thinking way too hard on this. Yeah, she just needed to calm down! After all, her quirk wouldn't work properly if she couldn't maintain her own pulse. She stood in front of the doorway leading into the waiting area, breathing in and out in slow and methodical breaths. Amanda shoved the rest of the toast into her mouth and chewed with gusto before grasping the knob and stepping inside. She saw two girls standing there who she didn't recognize and her eyes turned into saucers. The bread slipped down her threat and caught mid way, threatening to choke the girl out. Amanda keeled over and began hacking violently, slamming her chest so hard that she thought it would cave in. The girl raced over to the water fountain and took several large gulps in between her coughing fits. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she cleared out the residue, but after a few minutes the worst was over. "Merde! Je pensais que j'allais mourir!" She spouted. It then dawned on her that she still had one more issue to deal with. Amanda had just made a fool of herself in front of complete strangers. She stood up straight while facing them and began to shake from head to toe uncontrollably. Her lips quivered in sheer terror at them and she wanted nothing more than to bolt from the room. But then, they would start talking about her once she left! They would call her 'weird' or something of the like. But what could she say? It wasn't like she could speak their language! So the girl just carefully pointed to herself. "A-A-A-Amanda."Oh dear god, I could really use you right now Manuel. When can we just get this started already? I just want this whole thing to be over with!

This was starting to get ridiculously boring. He had found a chair, he had found a table and made the perfect moment to use that chair and that table to have a moment of relaxation and so people could enjoy looking at him. With his feet on the table, the chair leaning on the last legs he looked at the people in the group. Again, only girls. Bah. There was no challenge in this. One even had a funny way of speaking and he could only shake his head. The most important thing that made Manuel very annoyed was being paired up again with Amanda. See, there might now be a slight challenge if he overestimated the girls in the room. Amanda was a good for nothing, when they would win, it would be all thanks to him. His eyes were naturally already narrowed and with the most bored and annoyed expression, he looked to the girls of what he assumed to be U.A. students. Up and down his eyes went but nothing caught his attention, surely if they would talk to him and make it more interesting and worthwhile, he would definitely not drop the conversation. He grinned, bed magic was his favourite suggestion but they first needed to hold the attention. Now what was interesting and laughable was when finally Amanda showed up and how. He shook his head, hiding his grin because even if it was funny, he needed her. So he stood up, slamming the legs of the chair that he had held up on the ground as he stood up. "Can't lose you yet, Amanda." He said walking with a cocky grin on his face, not that he needed her but being polite for once might do wonders. "Or are you trying to give these chicks the impression they can win? Because that's very nice of ya." He hit her on the back with his flat hand, even if she stopped coughing, he had to make sure she was alright because again, unfortunately, they were partners. He might ask if he could start alone, had his own teacher not told him that it was not the competition. Teamwork, blah, who needed that nowadays, certainly not he himself. He moved with his hand over his braided hair and stared at Amanda, "Don't let me down." He had heard she introduced herself or well tried to by saying her name and rolled his eyes with the pathetic attempt, he wanted to know the names of the girls but he did not feel the absolute necessary need to introduce himself. He did speak the language, "She meant she is called Amanda, did you just call that girl Psycho?" He looked at the small redhead, to the other girl, "Strange nicknames you use in this country." Only more reason for him to win, after all, he was wonder man and he was the best anyway. Can they just start already instead of having to have 'nice' conversations with each other? They were enemies now. He did not like to be kept waiting.

WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy As the two sides made their appropriate introductions, a short woman approached them all. Placing herself in their center, in such an unassuming way that she wouldn't have been surprised if none of them had noticed her, she cleared her throat to garner their attention. First, Ningyo spoke in a elegant english, making sure their guests were accustomed to what would happen first. If they were having trouble understanding in English, Ningyo was also willing to explain in any of the scandinavian languages, or alternatively German. Afterwards, she would turn her attention to Darren and Reddarc. "..Greetings and welcome to Ground Beta. You've received the general rules, but I would like to clarify a few things." As Ningyo was speaking, an unassuming puppet waddled over. His movements seemed to become sharper and sharper the closer he came to Ningyo, and the more her focus on him increased. The puppet bowed before them, as if introducing himself. Naturally, with how many puppets she had created, there wasn't a single way in hell that Ningyo could make the puppet actually speak. "These are my puppets, and they are scattered across the city. They've been imbued with basic tasks, such as crossing the road. However, among the puppets, there are certain ones you should be aware of." Another puppet waddled over, this one dressed in an outfit that was easily spotted in a crowd. A police uniform. At his belt, he had a gun. No, not a real gun. A faux gun. "These are to be understood as the general security of the city out there. These will engage any villainous behavior, additionally informing the heroes of where the villains are currently located. They fire high-velocity paintballs. They'll hurt, sting, and leave colored marks. Naturally, the more you as a villain get shot, the more points you'll lose.
The law-enforcement is the only thing you should reliably engage directly, without utilizing the levers. In this exercise, the puppets are not to be your focus. The other team is. Do your best to harass and capture." Ningyo lifted an arm and scratched her cheek, stretching ever so slightly. Keeping this many puppets active was a draining affair, even if she had the stamina to keep it going for quite an extended amount of time. "Other incidents with the populace may happen as well. Humans are unpredictable, so keep your eyes out. Now, in the four quadrants around us, there is one escape door in each quadrant. These will open after fifteen minutes, allowing the villains to escape." Looking between the two foreign students, Ningyo then continued, explaining what kind of situation they were finding themselves in."The scenario is as following. Two villains have stolen from a jewelry store, utilizing excessive force. Two heroes were in the area, and are responding to the crime. Civillians are caught in the crossfire. Heroes are judged on their response time, their ability to prevent excessive destruction of material, plus their ability to apprehend the criminals.
The criminals are judged on their ability to outwit the heroes, to utilize their surroundings to create timesinks for the heroes, plus their ability to cause general public unrest." Once Ningyo was done explaining in English, she'd turn to Aki and Saiko, repeating the explanation in Japanese so that everyone was on the same page. Lastly, she pointed to her own students. Eli & Jun, flipping a coin into the air. One side was red with a joker-esque marking. The other seemed like a batman lookalike. Underneath each respective image was a small text. 'Villain - Hero.'"You two start as the hero team. Please pick a quadrant to start outside. Then I'll prepare the two foreign students to be the villains that will ruin your day."

Post by Saiko Tachibana on Mar 13, 2019 8:00:48 GMT -4
It wasn't long in waiting before something caught the corner of Saiko's eye, pulling her sights over to the excitedly waving and running red head. Saiko's eyes widened slight at the sudden nature of the students energy, something that Saiko typically lacked. Getting called psycho was...odd, but Saiko was too taken aback by the shorter red head to properly react as the student spoke with heavy breaths from running.
"Oh! Uh....hi Aki-san. Nice to meet you." It wasn't the first time that Saiko was just getting to meet someone, despite being at UA for months now. She rarely ever reached out to others, or was very active in social events, instead choosing to...stay in the dorm and focus on streaming, training in the early mornings when she wouldn't have to deal with talking to others.
Aki then went on to, more or less, blurt out a complicated ramble of a run down regarding her quirk, which was the exact time that Saiko realized something very important about her teammate.
'Oh no. Her social skills are in disarray, and she talks in the third person.'
The thought worried Saiko, especially if team work would be needed. Aki attempted to seemclear enough though, and Saiko had to put faith in hoping that it all worked out. Even if she...didn't have a lick of understanding what the heck Aki meant by much of anything described about her quirk. Taste friends? Otherwise quirkless? She also spoke of elemental properties like fire and water almost as if they we friends of hers.
Saiko could feel herself sweating with new found anxiety over her partner for this event, and she simply tried to force a smile and accept it all in as much stride as she could.
"T-That's great! Being skilled at hunting and sneaking sounds perfect for an competition like this." For the first time in Aki's explanation, Saiko was genuinely joyed in hearing, simply because it was easy to understand. Plus, there was logic in it, if Aki was telling the truth in her array of abilities.
After the rapid fire rattling off of information, Aki eyed Saiko with curiosity, which made Saiko a bit more nervous than it probably should have. "I..umm...I am good at traversing terrain. Freerunning if you will. I can also stop people in their tracks with salt on my oil, but...I don't see that being super practical here."
And neither would her fighting skills either, unfortunately. At least her quirk would hopefully shine...for a change. A
"Also, Aki-san, it isn't-" Before Saiko even had time to correct her vocabulary challenged teammate, a sudden hacking and coughing caught Saiko's attention, interrupting the words. Saiko couldn't help but watch the student as she ran over to the water fountain, which Saiko assumed was to be one of their challengers in the event.
After the ordeal seemed to pass, the student blurted out a panicked statement in french, followed by an equally freaked out exclamation of her name to...what Saiko presumed, was Aki and herself. The student stood, frozen in place and shivered like a wet dog as she stared at them with eyes as wide as a deer in the headlights. Before Saiko could properly respond though, a second figure showed up, this time a much more confident and physically apt male.
No, confident didn't properly express how he appeared. It was more...egotistical. Cocky and prideful. Standing next to the pink haired lass, they were night and day in both appearance and personality. Normally, Saiko wouldn't care either way about how another student acted, but there was a cord that was struck when the male figure spoke to his teammate in a demeaning tone, swinging for a two for one in insulting his competition.
Saiko saw a lot of herself in the girl who called herself Amanda. At least, herself when she was younger. Afraid, alone and scared. Her modest form and meek frame matched her personality, which only made the girl seem even more frail.
"I would rather not be known as 'chick', and I would appreciate not being called 'psycho' either. The name is Saiko, though call me whatever, I frankly don't care, since you don't seem the type that would regard anybody but man that looks back at you in the mirror." Saiko glared at the foreign student venomously before turning to Aki again. Let him think whatever he wants. Why bother giving him any more time of day.
"Aki-san, if it makes it easier on you, you can go ahead and call me Sai. That way we both have three letters for our names." The offer was a mere suggestion, but it could possibly alleviate problems in Aki continuing to misunderstand her name.
With a simple smile, Saiko finally faced the frantic girl from earlier, stepping towards her with careful, slow and methodical steps. Like approaching a stray kitten. It might have been because she felt sympathy for Amanda, or maybe it was Rowan's pep talk from earlier, but Saiko felt motivated in talking with the pink haired student. Well, here is hoping her father's business skills can finally find some use.
"Uh." Saiko paused for a moment when she was close to Amanda, recollected the words she would use. Here goes nothing. "Ravi de vous rencontrer Amanda. Bonne chance aujourd'hui dans l'événement. Peut-être pouvons-nous être amis après la fin du festival?" While her other languages besides Japanese weren't the greatest, she hoped that the other student would feel more comfortable in speaking if she had someone speak in her native tongue. Saiko eased a smile to Amanda, opting not to go for anything like a handshake which might upset the girl further.
A fifth figure had stepped into the room, much to Saiko's unobserved notice, which turned out to be Ningyo, the English teacher and UA (And apparently the controller of the puppet beings). The small conversation was broken up by further details for the event. Such as the 'puppets' being better explained, and that there would possibly be other hazards that weren't related to the activation of the contest levers that they were gunning for.
Otherwise, the rules still seemed generally the same, and there was to be a coin flip to decide who started as what. With the toss, it was declared that Aki and herself were to be the heroes to start. With a firm nod of understanding, she broke away from the group to give a brief talk to Aki about the plan. A friendly wave towards Amanda before stepping away, disregarding the male student completely. Maybe talking with Rowan did put her at ease...or at least gave her the nerve to stand up to a creep like Manuel
"Alright Aki-san, so here is what I am thinking. I am most comfortable with the location based on Osaka, since I lived there my whole life. I could probably also stay mobile and pull off some tricks in the industrial area also. If we start in either of those, I would feel the most secure. Do you have a preference, and do you think your quirk might lend a better advantage in a certain area over another?"

WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy A deer stuck in the headlights, Aki simply stood there, watching back and forth as more people introduced themselves. A whole slew of words Aki didn't understand. In fact, a whole slew of words Aki hadn't ever heard of before! The girl tilted her head to the side, watching the exchange as if reading their lips would give her a better understanding of what was happening. That was woefully untrue, only confusing the girl further. Looking to Manuel, Aki scratched her cheek. What was the idea behind chicks?.."There no chicken here." The girl said bluntly, narrowing her eyes at him. Not exactly sure why it was the case, Aki had determined that she didn't like him much. He was all those things Alex said she needed to be careful for. Mean, cruel, selfish. A man that would take a woman for the fun of it. Shuddering, Aki had never figured she'd encounter one of these, but suddenly it made more sense. Made more sense why being more protective of oneself could be important. Manuel would never, ever, in a thousand years, become part of Aki's pack. Glaring at him intently, as if he was going to leap forwards and attack the two girls at any moment, the only thing that distracted her from the staredown was Saiko. Blinking a couple of times, Aki still hadn't quite figured out the difference between psycho and Saiko - to her it sounded extremely similar. However, once the girl had made a request to be called by something else, Aki simply complied. "Okay Sai!" Smiling warmly, it couldn't have been more clear that Aki was, in fact, not trying to pull any stunts and had just, genuinely, gotten the name wrong. It was while the other two were getting an explanation in another language, that Aki finally had the time to ponder the information Saiko had given her regarding her quirk. Inspecting a little closer, Aki was curious. Slime, oil, salt. It took a few moments for all the dots to connect, but when they did, Aki immediately burst out: "Like a slug!" The girl exclaimed herself proudly, beaming openly as if she had just solved a difficult riddle. For some, being compared to a slug may have been quite demeaning and disrespectful. Aki, however, was thinking in completely different terms. "That means friend can glide over things!.. Can stick to walls? Climb anywhere?! Aki so impressed, so awesome!" Bouncing ever so slightly, Aki was still beaming. Many things could be said about the redheaded wildling, but she was never intentionally unpleasant. There were only very few people - specifically students - at Yuuei with whom she didn't mesh. Almost all of them had either hurt her, lied to her, or she had been told from Alex that they weren't good people. So, the question came as to where Aki wanted to go. Standing around, looking confused, she pointed a finger towards herself, questioningly. It was as if she couldn't even remotely believe that she was being asked. Afterall, she hardly had a clue as to what was going on. Still, because she was asked, she took the most reasonable approach she could. When faced with a question she couldn't answer, her only path forwards was to agree. "Aki agrees! Osaka sound good, Osaka sound best! Aki go there with friend Sai?" Tilting her head slightly to the side, she inspected Sai. Hopefully that reply would be good enough to ward off any immediate suspicion of Aki being completely and utterly lost.

Amanda let out a faint squeak as Manuel slapped her on the back, almost causing her to lose balance and fall over. Fortunately, she stumbled on one leg for a few moments before bringing the other back to solid ground. "That's not funny, Manuel! You know how seriously I take my quirk!"
That was one good thing though about her partner. She could at least communicate with him, whereas she didn't need to speak with the competition per se. But it still didn't change the fact that he was a complete and utter jerk! So while everyone started conversing, Amanda just sort of gravitated toward the back wall and planted herself there. It wasn't until the one girl with the blue hair...Saiko, her name was, had approached her. Amanda immediately tensed up at the girl, shaking slightly. W-What does she want? Why is she staring at me?Que? Was she speaking her language? She wants to be friends? Why would she want to be friends with her when they were supposed to be enemies? "Uh uhm...vous aussi. Je voudrais être amis aussi. Bonne chance." She whispered, looking down at the ground the entire time. It was a bit of culture shock to see that Saiko could speak French, which made Amanda feel awful that she didn't speak Japanese. I'm so pathetic...But she had no time to bemoan her own ineptitude as another lady walked in. She was apparently the instructor in charge of the event and quickly went over the rules regarding the upcoming battle. Including the roles. Amanda and Manuel were the villains in this case, which she didn't take too well. A bad guy? Her? She didn't have a single bad thought in her little head! Then again, Manuel could make up enough bad for the both of them...so maybe this was for the best? Once the 'hero' team had vacated the premises, Amanda breathed a heavy sigh and tip toed toward Manuel. "So...bad guys, huh? Are y-you okay w-with that? I know ah-I'll just s-slow you down, Manuel. S-Sorry..."
The timid girl pushed both of her forefingers together as she bit her lip. How could she be helpful if she was so nervous? There was no way that she could help out in this state! Think, Amanda. Say something! "U-Um...I was wondering. Maybe we can-um-like start in the second area?"
Her body shrank down slightly, ready to go on the defensive if Manuel yelled at her, but if he would allow her then she'd continue. "W-Well because, you see, there are houses and shopping centers. I'm s-sure that's where alot of p-people will be. I mean, we don't have to...it was just a thought. I'm sorry."D-Rank Quirk: Pulse Plaster, an emitter quirk that has given Amanda the ability to ‘see’ the pulse waves of herself and others, it has also given her the ability to soothe the pulse of herself and others. With skin contact she can increase the adrenaline or completely make it go at a complete stop for a minor second. The downside of this is that her own pulse has to be the same, so if she wants to give someone a high pulse rate she needs to increase her own.

The thing was that he had not much of a choice but simply accept the rules of the game and thus make use of Amanda. "I never said you could not take your quirk serious." The boy said while holding her collar so she would not fall over, thank god she found her own gravity back and did not fall. He definitely could not use a kluntz like her around but again if anyone, he rather had Amanda around than any of the other girls. He immediately let go of her after and watched her lean against the wall, he shook his head and took a deep breath. Wonderful women, the girls in this room, especially from the Japanese girl were crazy. He held up his hands as the blue haired girl said that she rather not be called a chick, right after the red head said that there was no chicken here and he had to resist the urge to facepalm. "I didn't call you psycho." He pointed his thumb at Aki, "She did. But a pleasure, Saiko." He had no idea about the way the Japanese used the titles or whatever you wanted to call it, so he did not even try. "So rude." He said but he grinned, he absolutely did not care that she acted like that, a bit of fire power, nice. He watched how she walked towards Amanda and raised his eyebrow as she spoke in the language Amanda would understand, friends? Really? He looked at Aki for a second but dismissed the strange girl. He crossed his arms in front of his chest and just shook his head, could they not hurry up? He leaned against the table next to him as Ningyo walked in and looked at them with a puppet... was that a puppet? "Tch." He started to dislike this excercise a lot more, at least the teacher was pretty, so he could look at her. But he listened because well that would work fantastic if he understood what they at least wanted from him. He closed his eyes and started to think, of course, they were the villains. Well, let's go all out in that case. He opened his left eye and looked at Amanda who stuttered at him. "Ha, you think I will eat you or something?" He said grumpy, "Amanda," He lingered on her name, "We are a team, you and I have to depend on each other." At least she said she took her quirk very serious, that was the only thing he had to count on. He pulled her towards him, "We better work this strategy thing out, I am depending on you." Liar. Well, if it would let her work better, he would offer it. He watched her explain, not saying anything inbetween, just staring, "Hm, sounds like an idea. How much havoc we create right? Second area sounds the best in that case."
Quirk - Extreme Momentum, an emitter quirk all about getting faster and faster with minor movements. Manuel is able to do consecutive punches one after another and only getting faster and faster. In other words, if he repeats same thing over and over again, he gains the greatest forms of momentum. This is often referred to him as 'building a combo.' (D-rank) Parkour ability - F-rank

"Eh?"
She visibly shook in terror as Manuel pulled her close to him, shaking in shock. But to her surprise, he seemed to be taking this seriously. Even more of a surprise, he was actually willing to go along with her plan! She honestly had no idea to proceed with this except to soldier out to the designated area and get this started before Ms. Ningyo yelled at them.
Amanda jogged out through Ground Beta with Manuel in tow. So, as villains, the two of them needed to seek out the so-called 'disaster levers' and cause as much difficulty for Saiko and Aki as possible.
"So fifteen minutes. That's the...minimum time we have before the doors open for our escape. If they have 200 points and we get out, then that's 150. So I think with 5 points per injury, if we can take out a base amount of ten people then we should be good."
It was quite surprising for Amanda to be thinking this much on something! Normally she didn't care much, but she didn't want to let Manuel down. She didn't want to let her home down! She reached out and grabbed a hold of Manuel's hand, feeling her pulse starting to race faster as she continued to run.
"Please use me as you will, Manuel! I will try my best not to get in your way!"
She made sure to keep her quirk on standby and within skin contact with her partner as they entered district two as planned. She looked around at the multitude of different mannequins going about their business. As per the rules, it was under Amanda's assumption that they had already robbed the jewelry store and were on the run. So they needed to keep an eye out for any police that would give away their position early.
Fortunately she could send out her quirk like a radar to pick up the tell tale sign of pulse waves in the area. It was a good thing that these puppets weren't technically real people or else there would be so much confusion to her. Amanda turned her attention to Manuel.
"I don't feel them in this area. I think we're good to go. At least...for now."
When she looked down and noticed that she was still holding Manuel's hand, she immediately pulled it back as her face turned beet red! "I-ah ah ah...I'm sorry! Come on! Let's pull some levers and get this over with! I'll keep an eye out for them while you do your thing...okay?"
Her voice was slowly starting to escalate into a squeak, which only made her heart race ever faster. Oh god, why was she so useless!?

He stared at her with a very visible look of annoyance on it as she trembled. He wasn't a monster and besides, what use would it be if he fought her while he had to be a team with her. For god sake Amanda, make up your mind. She seemed to take the upperhand now and jogged out towards the area, while he just simply followed her, hands behind his head and just slowly walking there, albeit fast enough to keep up with his fellow student. He nodded, yes he had heard the teacher, fifteen minutes. "Ha that means you want to get the easy way out, I just want to burn their points down." The thing is though that he wanted to win so if Amanda her strategy worked better than his own, he would listen to it. He did not like it, fifteen minutes could take a while though but he did not like how it worked. He wanted to show how badass he could be. Because he wasn't keeping up with her, she took his hand. That could be the only logical explanation and he turned to look away from her, what a ridiculous idea. Surely, she was pretty enough but this was just awkward okay. To keep her secure and satisfied, he did not pull his hand back. "What?" He turned his head back at her when she said that he could use her as he wanted. "You-you, yea sure." What the hell was this girl talking about. Man this made it too distracting, his mind only looking for excuses what she meant with all that. She ran though, so he could only follow, noticing them pasing a lever. He felt full adrenaline and couldn't wait to get all out on this. They wanted him to be the villain, than he would be the villain. He waited for Amanda to give him the good to go, half knowing what her quirk meant. He did blush when she stuttered at him, "Get over it, we need to get going." He said embarrassed at her as well and nodded when she finally stopped talking. "Yes, let me fix this. So wait here." He pushed his right leg behind and grinned while looking at a lever right in front of him, he only had to run past two dolls, piece of cake, they did not wear the unifrom that the teacher had showed him before, so he sprinted towards it and pushed the lever before running back. While he did that he heard the loud crashing of the sound of a building, it was collapsing on his now right side, original his left when he faced the lever. "That's a start, I hope there were some pe- eh dolls in there." It seemed to fall a bit more and he looked at the debris, "We could get that," He ran towards it, grabbed a bar and a piece of wood and ran back. Giving her the bar so she wouldn't get any splinters from it and worried about the wooden board himself. He could handle it.
Manuel ran towards a lever that collapsed a building, he waited seconds to grab a board and a metal bar to use as weapons for later. Standing back next on Amanda's right side.

If there was any one thing that would end up demoralizing Saiko to the point of wishing she hadn't even taken part of this event, it would probably be getting called a slug by her teammate. It actually probably would have been better if Manuel had been the person to do so. At least then it would fuel her fire in wanting to beat him thoroughly in competition. Her once at least fairly positive tone and expression was swiftly shattered upon Aki exclaiming her conclusion, and Saiko shifted back to her usual, unmotivated self.
"Let's just get this over with..." She muttered coldly under her breath, watching as the 'villains' were given a proper head start in selecting their starting point and arriving their. Well, at the very least Aki seemed chipper about the accursed quirk Saiko had, but she also seemed to largely overestimate what all it was truly capable of. 'Gliding over things' was about the extent of what she had right, and sticking to surfaces was so far from what Saiko was capable of that it was more difficult to actually manage in holding a position.
Could be worse, Saiko supposed. Aki could have intentionally been antagonizing her...so at least there is that. Boy will she be disappointed when she finds out how little Saiko could do with her quirk though...
Osaka was agreed upon, along with the naming of Sai. Sure, it would take a little getting used to, but it wasn't the first time she was called Sai. In fact, one of her two childhood friends even nicknamed her as such, which was part of the inspiration for the idea. So at least familiar ground was their playing field, though Saiko couldn't help but think that Aki was complying because she had no real idea of what was even going on to begin with. Oh well, Aki seemed the type to be eager and, as such, rather adaptive.
Saiko could only assume, based on her statement of being a supposed hunter, that thinking on the fly and planning ahead was much in to what they might do. It was kind of like that game she has played before. No sense in rushing straight into attempting to catch or kill your prey when you don't know what you are stalking. Likely it will return the favor if going in ill prepared.
Stepping into the streets once they were given the okay to go, Saiko took in the sights of the mock city for anything specific that could be seen from eyesight alone. There seemed to be a couple of especially large business buildings or housing locations that might be prime rigging material for what they might situation one of the levers to destroy, and a couple of businesses to possibly cause havoc. It was difficult to know for sure though, since they were only given directions through words alone and not examples or demonstrations.
Saiko broke into a light jog, no real destination in particular, since it didn't make sense being in the hero role without knowing where the trouble was going to start. If they wasted all of their energy running around the city in a desperate attempt in finding the villains right off the bat, then they would be exhausted when they actually needed it. Plus, it gave her time to analyze her surroundings to the best of her abilities. It...certainly matched up with Osaka's layout fairly accurately.
A loud crashing came from what sounded like a few blocks over along with the apparent signal that would alert the heroes when villain activity was initiated. Saiko turned to look over at Aki, a focused yet mildly dejected expression clearly upon her face. "C'mon. It sounded nearby. We could probably try and flank them. Hopefully catch them off guard."
It was probably their best bet, at least until they were sure what their opponents quirks were. Without that knowledge, all they could hope for was attempting to either separate them by making them have to focus on two fronts, or break up their possible poor synergy as teammates.
Rushing to the sound of the noise now, debris and dust from the destruction of one of the buildings kicked up in the air, giving clear sign that the heroes were near. Not wasting any time, Saiko looked over to a nearby convenient store with a dumpster nearby. Quickly hopped on top of the closed lid, she then kicked herself up the wall to get atop the one floor building, staying low, but looking to see what they were up against.
The two foreign students were, indeed, next to a lever and had already triggered it before they could get their. Along with that, they now armed themselves with two, albeit crude, weapons to defend themselves. Great. Not good for someone with no ability that would aid in protecting her from blows. Still, she couldn't sit around forever. Just meant she would have to do her best in working with Aki.
Saiko just hoped that Aki would be ready also. Jumping off the side of the building, Saiko gripped the ledge of the roof, hanging over the side before letting her quirk carry down the side of the building in a oily slick down the wall. Letting go, Saiko let gravity carry her before pushing herself off the wall in what she hoped would be a ambush attempt to their undefended side.
Tucking and rolling against the ground as to break her fall, the quirk would help carry the momentum towards the opponents, breaking herself into a baseball slide, aiming specifically for the legs of her two opponents. All she had to do was get one hand on them, and they would win. Right?
-After surveying the area, noticed the destruction caused by the lever -Climbed up to an adjacent convenient store roof, taking note of her opponents. -Trying to sync up with Aki, slid down the rooftop along the wall and into a roll -Aiming specifically to catch Manuel or Amanda by surprise so she can either grab one of their legs or allow Aki to get in by Saiko's distraction.
