WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Puppets were now idly walking the streets of the little makeshift town. Their movements baggy and strange, clearly not humanoid. It was, however, the best that they could offer on such a short notice. Everything had been prepared for the upcoming event. Ground Beta had successfully been established. Ground Beta was an enormous 1 by 1 kilometer large square with four entrances/exits. Within this square, a faux city had been created, modelled on popular locations from Tokyo, Musutafu and Osaka primarily. The faux city had four major areas, which sported slightly different building layouts. One area had primarily the rural influence. Houses were slightly larger at the base floor, more traditional in nature, with more spacing and open areas around each building. The buildings also weren't terribly tall, primarily one to three storied. The secondary area was a generic housing area you could find in the middle of the city. Several taller buildings, upwards of twelve stories, lay placed here. The housing was primarily rentable appartments. At the street level, ther were also a series of convenience stores and other shopping needs. The third area was an industrial area, filled with larger than average buildings, pipes and such things. Smoke seemed to rise from many of the silos. The main traffic here seemed to be large trucks. Finally, there was the entertainment area. Clubs, cafés, casinos, bars, bowling alley, laser-tag. Practically everything you'd desire when having a fantastic night out.
Populating these areas, were practically what one could expect. There was traffic, driving casually around the city. Taxis, trucks, pickups. It was clear that these fauxes weren't actual cars, as much as mash of paper on rails, but it looked reasonable enough. There were individuals walking the streets, exchanging good by stands and otherwise trying to appear like normal city-life. Granted, since they were puppets created by a quirk, they were very limited in function, but at least the city felt somewhat populated. It was within this little faux city, that the obstacle part of the competition would take place. Ningyo, being ever impartial, would ensure that neither teams gained an unfair advantage...
Scattered across the city as well, were strangely marked levers, positioned mainly by areas that seemed particularly trafficed. These levers took some time to activate, giving off an indication to the hero team of exactly where the lever was being activated from. Once activated the levers would be generating some kind of disaster. For instance, the lights could all switch to green, causing a massive pileup in the middle of the road. Scaffolding could begin falling down, severely hurting everyone caught underneath. In short, disasters on demand. Disaster levers. The competition would be fairly simple. One team would be pretend-heroes. The other team would be pretend-villains. The hero team would start with two-hundred points. If a villain managed to entirely escape the exercise, the heroes would lose fifty. In addition, each civillian hurt by the activation of a disaster lever, would deduct another five points. Once enough time had passed, or all the points had been deducted, the exercise would then swap the teams, meaning the hero team would become villains and vice versa.
In essence, heroes were meant to capture the villains while securing and ensuring the safety of civillians. The villains were meant to cause as much disaster as possible, while avoiding being caught. To catch a villain, all the hero team would have to do, was touch the villain and apply a captured mark onto their clothes. As such, standing your ground to fight as the villain may not be the smartest solution. From there, it was a judgement call. Would you prioritize escaping..? Would you feel more confident in causing some disasters, sealing away some of your opponent's points that way?... There were many ways to approach this, and it had Ningyo somewhat excited to see what the students may choose. Licking her lips joyously, she awaited the arrival of those that would go third.

The day was finally here! It was time to take on the obstacle course, and Sean could not be more excited! All of the training he had done, all of the preparations, it all led up to this moment. There would be eyes watching, looking at every single one of the boy's actions, successes, and blunders. It was completely understandable to be feeling nervous in this situation. However, Sean was not nervous at all. He was feeling relaxed and excited. The blue-haired boy just wanted to have fun with this exercise while still giving it his all, and more. No less than 130 percent effort!
Sean had arrived at Ground Beta with nothing but his UA gym clothes, the blue goggles hanging around his neck that the boy liked to wear in lieu of a mask, the utility belt Chiyoko had made for him, four standard supermarket water bottles (all completely filled up with water) hanging on each pocket of said belt, and tons of determination. The rest of his belongings were stashed safely inside the boy's locker.
Sean was just awestruck looking at the fake city. Wow, they really went all out with this! So freaking cool! However, he was not here to be impressed by the scenery. He had a job to do! And fortunately, it was not a task he would be doing alone. Partnered up with the blue-haired boy was none other than Rin Kurama. Sean was happy to be working alongside his fellow classmate and class president. With her as his partner, Sean has no doubt that the duo would perform quite well. His faith in her abilities were unshakeable.
Speaking of Rin, Sean greeted his partner for the obstacle course, naturally in his usual manner of a smile and wave of his hand. "Yo Rin! How's it going, partner? You excited for the obstacle course too!" Smiling, the boy cheerfully raised his fist in the air. "Let's show em just how awesome we are! YEAH!" Sure, the gesture was rather goofy and silly, but Sean believed that it was good to let loose sometimes. He was serious when he needed to be, but that did not mean that he needed to be serious all the time. That would just be boring. Besides, a little silliness was good for getting rid of the tiny seeds of nervousness that tried to linger around Sean. "We'll do just fine, so no worries. After all, I have you as a partner!"
Regardless of how well or how poorly he did, Sean was determined to do his best, to not let Rin down, and most importantly, to show everyone just what he could do.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy The little story of how Rin ended up at the obstacle course was a strange one. Initially, at the very beginning, she figured she'd have joined the combat oriented one. Jasmine, however, seemed very confident in her ability to smash through absolutely anyone, regardless of how many there were. It had made Rin reconsider. Not because there was anything wrong with cooperating with Jasmine, quite the contrary. Rin just wasn't even remotely as hyped for bashing heads as some of the other participants in that category seemed to be. Next, Rin had considered joining the rescue course. At the point where she had arrived to the sign in area though, the teachers were making explanations and excuses. There had already been too many sign ups, sign ups are closed. The cavalry battle most certainly wasn't something she had wanted to do, thus the decision had fallen upon the obstacle course. It was enough like rescue to utilize many of the same skillsets. Here, there were enough remaining spots to allow for the raven haired female to participate. Thus, Rin had scribbled down her name in good faith, hoping that she'd be able to contribute to Yuuei earning the title, as the number one hero academy in the world. Humming quietly to herself, the girl approached the staging area. They had received a good idea of the rules and what they were meant to do, though Rin was fairly certain they'd be receiving more information just around the corner. Pleasantly surprised, the one that was standing there, waiting for her, was none other than Sean Mizushima. A classmate with a good temperament, a good attitude and a good morale. The boy wasn't one of the people whom Rin would've considered a power house among students, but he was probably one of the students whom she could work together with the best. Raising a hand in a calm fashion, Rin gave him her own greeting. "Hello Sean-san, good to see you." To his question, the girl didn't have much to add. "Excited and ready to kick some butt." Throwing him a confident smile, it was a little unlike how Rin usually presented herself. Recently however, she had had good reason to show confidence.Looking around for a short bit, she couldn't help but be impressed. A month or so ago, this area had been almost completely bare. At htis point however, a practical city had been built from nothing. Rin was certain that quirks had a huge role to play in the establishment of this area, but regardless of any such notions, it still remained an impressive feat. Turning to Sean, Rin continued. "It's quite impressive." Rin murmured, not immediately realizing that Sean wouldn't have the faintest idea of what she was talking about. Clearing her throat, as if the pause had been unintentional, she continued. "This faux city, I mean. It must've taken some amount of resources to establish. All so we could have better training facilities.."

When Gregory Carmichael had been told his partner for the upcoming Obstacle Course, he couldn’t help but flop heavily onto the hotel bed. Luckily, he was with his usual roommate at the time, who was very much used to these awkward displays of emotion that came from Gregory whenever Julia Dawson was involved. This attitude didn’t approve when the two met up for a “pre-contest strategy meeting”, as Julia’d put it. She, on the other hand, was pretty neutral on Gregory being her partner, knowing he had quite a powerful quirk and respectable ethic, she’d planned many exercises for the two of them to learn how to synergise their abilities effectively. U.A was about to witness the result of those exercises. “So, what do you think of our competition?” Julia sounded, waltzing into Ground Beta. Those involved were a tad early – The white haired referee or whatever she decided to call herself was off watching the finishing moments of the second performers. So Julia took this opportunity, with Gregory begrudgingly beside her, to learn a bit about their enemies. “Girl is scrawny. Guy looks like a douche.” He dismissed, continuing the walk towards Rin and Sean. Julia, smiling all the while, scolded him. “That scrawny girl is Kurama Rin.” “Who? She a big deal?” “Were you listening at all during my briefing, I-“ “To be honest, I don’t listen much to anything you say.” Julia punched Gregory’s arm lightly. “Arse.” “What about the boy looking like he’s bout to have a swim?” “Not sure, probably one of the lesser students. Either way, don’t underestimate them.” As they entered earshot of the chatting pair, Gregory broke away to gaze over Ground Beta, his unreadable expression waxy and glazed over with boredom. Julia waved, calling out. “Hi!” The dark skinned girl approached. She wore the Valiant uniform – black all-round besides the navy accents across her tie and blazer. Her long, curly, off-white hair was tied in a proper ponytail and her smile glittered. Her quirk was not obvious, though it could be her marvellous skill with language as she interacted with perfect Japanese. “You must be our opponents! We look forward to playing the course with you!” Her accent tinged her words and, as she got closer, she brought with her the faint waft of flowers. She was about Rin’s height and looked just about her age too, but the way Julia presented herself was with professional maturity. “My partner over there is Gregory, he’s… Not one for strangers, so please forgive him.” She gave a curt bow, not too low, but not a simple nod of the head. “U.A has done remarkably well so far this festival! I hope you can show us how things are done here in Japan!” Julia listened as they introduced themselves, feigning ignorance at Rin’s name and learning the blue-haired boy was named Sean. Even that information was insightful. Throughout the conversation, she’d keep tight eye-contact with whomever was speaking, nodding politely. Eventually, Gregory joined Julia, a few inches taller than her. He was a lot less responsive, plain ignoring them if he was spoken to. “Time to get ready.” “Ah!” Julia clapped. “Yes! Looks like it’s our turn to get out there!” Gregory broke away, Julia close behind him, waving to Sean and Rin. “Good luck!” They couldn’t hear Julia, coming to a determined stride, a small smirk on her face, as she mumbled. “You’re gonna need it.”

To anyone else, Rin's confident smile would have been a minor but noticeable difference. It was clear that she was feeling more confident than usual. Of course, with Sean being the dense person that he was, failed to notice this. To him, Rin was the same awesome student and class president she always was. Of course, there was no doubt that she was stronger than the last time Sean saw her. Not even the oblivious boy would be foolish enough to believe otherwise.
Sean nodded in agreement when Rin spoke. "Definitely! I was wondering how the obstacle course would be like, but I didn't expect it to be this well detailed! There was really no holding back when making this place, huh? Props to everyone who helped build all this!" Sean wondered just how many people it took to make all this. Regardless, they did a pretty awesome job in the boy's opinion.
Suddenly, Sean heard an unfamiliar voice greeting the two UA students. Turning around to see who it was, Sean saw a pair of teenagers. A girl saying hi, and a guy focusing his attention elsewhere. They were not anyone the boy knew. Who were they? It did not take too long to figure it out, as the dark skinned girl made it clear. These two were foreign students. More importantly, they were the ones Sean and Rin would be up against in the obstacle course. Smiling radiantly, Sean returned the girl's greeting with his own. "Hi! It's nice to meet you, and it's an honor and pleasure to get to face off against you two!"
The girl was named Julia. Apparently, the other teen was named Gregory, and Julia explained that he was not one for strangers. "It's cool! No worries at all!" Sean could understand that not everyone was openly talkative and extroverted, and that was fine. Nothing wrong with that. Sean then smiled as he gave his own small bow. "Thanks! We won't disappoint!" Afterwards, it was time for introductions. "My name's Sean. A pleasure!"
Once Gregory came to tell Julia that it was time to get ready, Sean smiled and greeted the guy. "Hi! How's it going?" However, Sean's greeting was ignored. The boy was not bothered by this, however. He just figured that the foreign student was probably shy or too focused on the task at hand. Oh well. Sean would see more of him during the obstacle course anyway. Sean waved back to Julia as she waved and wished the UA students good luck. "Thanks! Best of luck to you two as well!"
With that done, there was not much else to do but wait for the fun to start. Sean was looking forward to it. He couldn't wait to see what Julia and Gregory could do, and he also couldn't wait to show them what he was capable of.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Rin couldn't explain to you exactly why she felt the way she did, as the two others approached. They were talking to each other, then smiling at Rin and Sean, then continuing to talk. While Rin could not hear what they said, the way their eyes looked back and forth between Rin and Sean, she couldn't help but feel uncomfortable. Instinctively, Rin took a step towards Sean, their shoulders almost meeting. However, the greeting that came from Julia was anything but unpleasant. It only made Rin feel even stranger about the situation. A mixture of discomfort, confusion, relief. Rin was just about to part her lips to offer her own greeting in retunr, but hesitant as the raven haired female was, Sean easily beat her to the finish line. Exchanging his own greeting with the other team, Rin just listened. It was odd how carefree this boy was. Either he didn't sense the same atmosphere as Rin did, or he had chosen to completely ignore it. Knowing Sean, it was probably ignorance rather than heroism. In the few exchanges they had had, anything negatively charged seemed to pass him by harmlessly. In this here situation, that was actually fortunate. Clearing her throat, Rin decided to simply add her own greeting to the tailend of his. "The pleasure is ours. My name is Rin Kurama, that over there is my partner, Sean Mizushima. I hope we get to see a bit of how heroism is portrayed in other parts of the world. Let's have a good match." Bowing her head respectfully, to both Julia and Gregory, the raven haired girl turned around.Gently nudging Sean with her shoulder, Rin spoke in a quiet tone. "It feels like something is off. I'd be careful, right out the gate. We're not sure what they're capable of. With Yuuei having been in a few alterations already, they may very well know my abilities. It would mean that their confidence isn't based on nothing." It was very likely, if their school was as focussed on winning and having a good showing as the Chinese school was, that they had investigated all the information that they could about their opponents. There likely wasn't much to find on Sean Mizushima. As far as Rin knew, most of his feats were mostly knowledge kept inside Yuuei's walls, known mostly by his friends. For Rin however, it was a completely different story. There were videos back from the Kunshu Festival, where she, together with Jasmine, both fought and coralled tigers back into their pens. Then there was the Semper Fi incident, where Rin's powers had been on almost full display. Displays of both power and utility. Lastly, as the top ranked Yuuei student, there had been other information leaked on her as well, of that Rin was sure. It was something she had ran head first into a couple of times. The number one at Yuuei? Is your entire school as pathetic as you? Taking a deep breath, Rin closed her sapphire blue eyes, taking a moment to think on the rules and information they had been given. There were so many different ways to approach this. Taking into account what Sean was capable of, the obvious choice for him would be the industrial area. There was some water down by the harbor look-alike. However, if the other team chose another area to fight in, Rin really wasn't sure what Sean might be capable of. Without water, wasn't he kind of like a fish on land?... The thought alone surprised Rin. For so long she had disliked her own quirk, but in actuality, it didn't have that many restrictions on it. Only the pain that came with using it. "Got any solid thoughts on how we should approach this, Sean-kun..? - I was thinking that the area where we'd be at our strongest would be the industrial harbor like biome. The place where you'd have access to the most amount of water?.. Or is there anywhere you figured would suit you better?" Rin turned to look at him, pursing her lips and looking a little thoughtful. Idly scratching her cheek, she was attempting to come to a reasonable conclusion of where she herself would have the biggest advantage... but frankly, in most areas, Rin was at a stable average. There were advantages and disadvantages to her quirk in every area. For the cramped areas, sure utilizing the range of her quirk would be difficult, but her parkour and speed would truly shine when she could jump between buildings easily. For the open areas, her mobility would be slightly hindered, but the increased sight ranges would allow her quirk to function at it's fullest potential. There wasn't really any of the four areas that stood out to her as bountiful for her specifically. Thus, Sean's insight on where he'd function the best, where he'd prefer to go, would likely determine a whole lot for their team.

WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy As the two sides made their appropriate introductions, a short woman approached them all. Placing herself in their center, in such an unassuming way that she wouldn't have been surprised if none of them had noticed her, she cleared her throat to garner their attention. First, Ningyo spoke in a elegant english, making sure their guests were accustomed to what would happen first. Afterwards, she would turn her attention to Rin and Sean. "..Greetings and welcome to Ground Beta. You've received the general rules, but I would like to clarify a few things." As Ningyo was speaking, an unassuming puppet waddled over. His movements seemed to become sharper and sharper the closer he came to Ningyo, and the more her focus on him increased. The puppet bowed before them, as if introducing himself. Naturally, with how many puppets she had created, there wasn't a single way in hell that Ningyo could make the puppet actually speak. "These are my puppets, and they are scattered across the city. They've been imbued with basic tasks, such as crossing the road. However, among the puppets, there are certain ones you should be aware of." Another puppet waddled over, this one dressed in an outfit that was easily spotted in a crowd. A police uniform. At his belt, he had a gun. No, not a real gun. A faux gun. "These are to be understood as the general security of the city out there. These will engage any villainous behavior, additionally informing the heroes of where the villains are currently located. They fire high-velocity paintballs. They'll hurt, sting, and leave colored marks. Naturally, the more you as a villain get shot, the more points you'll lose.
The law-enforcement is the only thing you should reliably engage directly, without utilizing the levers. In this exercise, the puppets are not to be your focus. The other team is. Do your best to harass and capture." Ningyo lifted an arm and scratched her cheek, stretching ever so slightly. Keeping this many puppets active was a draining affair, even if she had the stamina to keep it going for quite an extended amount of time. "Other incidents with the populace may happen as well. Humans are unpredictable, so keep your eyes out. Now, in the four quadrants around us, there is one escape door in each quadrant. These will open after fifteen minutes, allowing the villains to escape." Looking between the two foreign students, Ningyo then continued, explaining what kind of situation they were finding themselves in."The scenario is as following. Two villains have stolen from a jewelry store, utilizing excessive force. Two heroes were in the area, and are responding to the crime. Civillians are caught in the crossfire. Heroes are judged on their response time, their ability to prevent excessive destruction of material, plus their ability to apprehend the criminals.
The criminals are judged on their ability to outwit the heroes, to utilize their surroundings to create timesinks for the heroes, plus their ability to cause general public unrest." Once Ningyo was done explaining in English, she'd turn to Rin and Sean, repeating the explanation in Japanese so that everyone was on the same page. Lastly, she pointed to her own students. Eli & Jun, flipping a coin into the air. One side was red with a joker-esque marking. The other seemed like a batman lookalike. Underneath each respective image was a small text. 'Villain - Hero.'"You two start as the villain team. Please pick a quadrant to start outside. Then I'll prepare the two foreign students to be the heroes to intercept and stop you."

Sean listened as Rin gave her own introduction. As usual, Sean did not even question anything. Being the oblivious boy that he was, he did not share Rin's unease and caution. As far as he knew, everything was just fine. There was nothing at all to worry about! It was not until Rin got the boy's attention and spoke to him quietly that the thought of needing to be careful even crossed his mind. Listening to the girl speak, she did bring up a good point. Sean responded in an equally quiet tone. "That's a really good point, Rin. I'll be sure to stay alert and keep an eye out. Thanks!"
Rin's words were true, and her concerns very valid. They knew nothing about the capabilities of their foreign opponents. For all Sean knew, Julia and Gregory could very easily have quirks that directly counter those of Rin and Sean. The boy did not want to think about what would happen if either of those two had something nasty for him. A quirk that repels water, an electricity quirk, or god forbid, ice. Sean could not stand the thought of having to deal with the one ability that basically crippled him the most. Still, those were just what ifs. There was nothing to gain from being paranoid of something that was not even a certainty. Even if he and Rin did end up in the worst case scenario, it did not matter. The two UA students would just try their best to overcome the challenge, no matter how difficult it may be.
Rin's other point was also one worth keeping in mind. So many events surrounding UA and its students have occured. Herr Kunshu, the QED incident, Semper Fi, the list went on and on. It was no secret. Even someone denser than Sean would not be oblivious to the news. There was very little doubt that Julia and Gregory may have looked up info on their competition after so much exposure of them on the news. While Rin undoubtedly had lots of info for them to look up, it was not impossible for the same to apply to Sean. He may not have gotten as involved in things as Rin had, but he too had a moment of action, having helped put out fires and rescue victims in that burning circus tent back in Herr Kunshu. Sean would not be surprised if there was any info about him lying around, no matter how minor.
Sean's thoughts were interrupted when Rin asked him about their strategy. He listened to her talk before responding. "To be honest, I haven't really come up with anything in particular. The industrial harbor sounds perfect, so let's go with that. I trust in your judgment." If the two UA students were to be given the role of either brawns or brains, it was clear which of the two applied to the boy. Not that Sean lacked intelligence or neglected to use his brain, but it was clear that in this team, Rin was the brains. Or at the very least, she was far closer to that role than the blue-haired boy was. Still, Sean would have come to the same conclusion even without Rin's help. It was always best to play to one's strength. The more water Sean had at his disposal, the more he could do with it.
Then, a woman came over to the group. She began speaking in English, presumably to allow the foreigners to understand what she was saying. Although Sean had spent most of his life in Japan, he was born in America and had lived the first six years of his life there. That meant that he could understand what she was saying without too much difficulty. Of course, she would no doubt explain again in Japanese so that Rin would understand too, so if Sean missed anything the first time around, the second explanation would be all the more clear.
While Sean was listening to the explanations, he noticed a moving puppet walking towards them and even bowing. The boy was impressed with it. It was pretty neat! Was this her quirk? Almost immediately, his question was answered as she explained what the puppets' role was in this exercise. Sean paid attention to the rest of the explanation, smiling and nodding once as soon as it was over to show that he understood it all.
And then came the coin flip, the one that decided which role each team would play. The result was announced. Rin and Sean would be the 'villains' of the exercise. The boy found it amusing, having to play a role that was the exact opposite of what he wanted to one day become. Still, it was no big deal. He and Rin would just focus on completing their task, giving it their all.
When Ningyo asked the UA students to pick a quadrant to start outside, Sean looked over to Rin and smiled warmly at her. They had already agreed on which sector to take on first. He then turned to Ningyo and bowed slightly as he answered. "We'll start in the industrial area, ma'am." Sean could not wait to get started.

Julia listened intently when the odd teacher explained the course to the world and to the students. Puppets, eh? Impressive! And very cool! She felt the coils in her arms tense in the anticipation of the upcoming event. She bounced on her springy heels, batting at Gregory’s shoulder with the excitement of a small child. As the rules and such were explained, Julia immediately started taking mental notes of where to go and what to do and to find out exactly what disaster levers were! This should be fun – even if she was a little pooped that they were gonna be the heroes this round. Gregory sighed, beginning to stretch his limbs. His quirk would make short work of these idiots, that’s for sure. This wasn’t even a challenge.
When Rin and Sean had chosen their placement, the four students were shown to the Industrial sector of the faux city. The industrial sector was filled with scaffolded half-buildings, towering factories and a large reservoir of water just a short walk from where they were stopped before a… not entirely convincing jewellery shop. “Good luck!” Julia again rang before the ‘heroes’ were taken aside a few blocks away.
“Okay. The moment the crime begins, we need to be on the lookout. I saw three disaster levers in the area. One was on the jewellery shop itself-“ “Yeah I saw that.” “- I think it’ll cause something to happen to the shopfront… A bomb maybe?” Gregory yawned, watching Julia bounce as she rambled. “No, that’d be too extreme… Regardless, we need to focus on getting them captured as soon as possible!” “Maybe…” Gregory piped up, gesturing to an odd congregation of the Police Dolls on the other side of the road. They crowded around a building labelled “Ye Olde Doughnut Shoppe”. “Maybe we can guide these guys around the corner. If they start filling the street with those paintballs we can deal with em faster?” “Oooh!” Julia giggled. “Good idea! We should do our best to subdue them both at the same time, the boy could have a healing quirk. How about we try to guide them to that huge lake thingy?” “The reservoir?” “Is that what it is? Sure, yeah, that. If we can corner them, it’ll be an easy win!”
The Valiant students shared a moment of confidence, bracing themselves for the simple victory that laid itself before them.
The industrial quadrant is the least populated quadrant, making doll casualties difficult to achieve. To balance this, it is jam-packed with disaster levers, small alleyways and various nooks and crannies to get lost within. When the villains commit their crime, the event will commence, and disaster levers will become active. Please write up to the completion of the crime and/or the activation of a disaster lever, whichever comes last. The further the villains go into the city; the more levers are revealed.
Established Disaster Levers:
Jewellery Shop (1) – Detonates a small IED in the road immediately outside the Jewellery Shop. Causes 0 Causalities but is an effective deterrent for the Police Dolls and the Heroes.
Scaffolding (2) – Below the scaffolding outside an industrial factory a street away from the Jewellery Shop. Causes “toxic gas” to leak into the air of the surrounding streets. It is a simple, dilute choking gas. Causes a maximum of 30 casualties. Both villains and heroes will be caught in the effect (Rank F Blindness + Mild Choking).
Reservoir (3) – An oversized lever painted bright red and lodged in the ground. Will require both villains to trigger. It is difficult to tell what will happen, however, there is obvious cracking in the concrete all around the lever. It’s safe to assume the water won’t flood out… But who knows?

Upon being taken to the industrial sector of the city, Sean began to look around this section of the faux city, trying to take note of where everything was. Being aware of one's surroundings was very important. It was a valuable lesson taught to him on the day he had injured his leg during training and had to see the school nurse. Despite that injury hurting quite a bit, the boy was glad that he had learned something important from it.
Sean's eyes glanced in the direction of the reservoir. Whatever he and Rin would plan, the reservoir was bound to be important, at least for the blue-haired boy. So many possible uses for the water there that could prove to be invaluable for this exercise. Still, it was best not to make it too obvious that the reservoir was something Sean was paying close attention to. If the foreign students knew nothing of Sean's quirk, then keeping them in the dark for as long as possible could prove to be a somewhat useful strategy.
It was not long before everyone had arrived at the jewelry store. As Julia wished the UA students good luck, Sean decided to do the same to the foreigners. "You too!" And with that, the 'heroes' went off a couple of blocks away, leaving the 'villains' to do their thing. Sean began to wonder how to approach this. He doubted that his usual method of 'YOLO and hope for the best' was going to cut it here. No, what he needed was a strategy of some kind. Plan a course of action and an escape route for after the deed was done. Find a way to cause as much trouble as possible while evading the heroes and avoiding getting captured.
"So, any particular plan or ideas you have in mind, Rin?" Strategizing was not exactly Sean's strong suit. Not that he was necessarily terrible at it, but he had more faith in Rin than himself when it came to that. Combat was what Sean was better at. If Rin had a plan, then he was all ears.
Now it was time to head inside the jewelry store. Looking inside, there were fake rings, earrings, necklaces, and other bits of fake jewelry behind a glass display case. There was a counter with a cash register that was probably filled with fake money, as well as a puppet standing behind the counter, presumably the shopkeeper. Sean also noticed a lever on the floor. Lying on the floor near the back of the store was a wooden baseball bat and an empty sack. Such items seemed strange to have inside a jewelry store, but the intention soon became clear. Smash the glass with the bat, which would most likely set off some kind of alarm, and then fill the bag with as much jewelry as possible. Then take the money from the register and add that with the jewelry before making a run for it. Seemed like a simple enough plan.
"You wanna do the honors of breaking the glass, or should I?" Sean figured it was only fair to give Rin the chance to be the one to swing the bat around and smash stuff if she wanted to. The boy did not mind whether he would be the one to smash the glass or the one to put all the valuables inside the sack. Regardless, as soon as the bat had smashed into the glass, an alarm began to ring loudly. Sean then took as much fake jewelry and money as possible and put them in the sack. For the purpose of this exercise, the fake valuables themselves were not important. Still, Sean would not be so quick as to dismiss them as mere props or decoration. It was possible for them to have a use of some kind with enough creativity. Besides, it wouldn't be much of a robbery if the villains didn't even try to take the goods with them, right?
Before attempting to leave, however, Sean went over to the nearby lever. With a grin, the boy pulled on it, eager to see what would happen once it activated.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Very quietly, Rin was observing and listening. Watching, learning, accumulating knowledge while giving away very little information regarding their own team. Somewhat staying in the background of Sean's energetic greeting, this teammate may have suited her perfectly. Excited, prepared, yet generally listening to advice and directions. Somewhat locked away in her own mind, the girl was contemplating their approach to this little encounter. It wasn't until Sean addressed the raven haired girl directly, that she even realized they had reached their temporary destination. Blinking a little confusedly, the girl looked to her teammate, stunned. In that moment, Sean could've asked anything from a simple math equation, like two plus two, to rocket science of the highest degree, and Rin would've been equally flabbergasted. Sometimes the girl had a tendency to sink too far into her own mind, running simulations and thoughts of what might happen in the upcoming confrontation. Fortunately, Sean was capable of pulling her out of that with his simple approach to things. Even more fortunately, Sean had a tendency to completely miss the awkward nature of Rin, shrugging it off, or sometimes even attributing positive elements to her awkward behavior. Wauw, she is calculating up a flawless plan. When in reality, Rin may have been pondering exactly how tall a building truly is, and whether this city is to proper scale. Still, he asked for some sort of strategy, and Rin was not one to have missed information. Nodding quietly, she waited for the two foreign students to be outside of earshot, instructed by Ningyo as to what their task was going to be. Quietly, she began speaking to her teammate. "The main thing is going to be communication and a clear overview. As villains, we're going to have a lot of stray dangers coming at us in this exercise. Taking random shots from the police will cost us a lot of points, if we're not on the aware." Rin noted, looking around to get a feel for how heavily guarded the area was. The few levers that they could see, also spoke quite clearly of the different aspects of the villainy. "The most rewarding levers for us, seem to require both of us present. This prevents us from splitting up and causing havoc in multiple places at once. Not to mention, we'd be unable to cover for each other if apart. I think staying in the vicinity of each other would be preferable." That was for the general tactics. Now, they needed some kind of strategy for the remainder of the little course. "I think we should generally move relatively quickly. The heroes know where we started, and we risk them overwhelming us very quickly if we remain in an area where they can lay out a fine-tuned plan, knowing our abilities. We may not have abilities as a surprise factor, but we chose what area to fight in." Gesturing to the area in front of them, Rin then finalized her thoughts. "We pull a lever and move to the next area that has levers and a fire hydrant. I knock open the fire hydrant to provide you with ample water, and we pull one of the levers that take two people. From there, we prod at them, try to learn what their quirk is and avoid being captured. Keep communicating, keep moving, force them to make mistakes." Rin lifted her hand to offer Sean a high-five, as Sean began walking over to the jewelry store, leaving Rin hanging. Sighing softly, she shook her head. "By all means, it's all you. Go ham, villain." With that, Rin cracked open her two metallic containers, spilling the little amount of blood she could carry. Using the blood, she'd rope herself up on top of the building, taking a vantage point. From there, she'd be able to see better while Sean caused chaos. Combining their efforts, and she'd be taking charge of the communication.Luckily, Yoruhi had taught her a lot about communicating efficiently and effectively. Something that would come in handy more often than she ever imagined, back when they had done the initial obstacle course. Funny... The first thing Rin had done at Yuuei was an obstacle course, and now she had to win this event to crown Yuuei as number one.

“So…” Gregory piped up, leaning beside Julia. “Whaddya think we’ll be fed for dinner?” Julia rolled her eyes, but her response was cut short by the whooping ring of an alarm. The pair mobilised immediately, catching the mechanical response of the police dolls in the corner of their vision as they cornered the corner of the street corner. The dolls flooded out of the donut shop in comical quantities; ten became thirty, became eighty simple dolls in simple uniforms and shiny plastic badges. They moved in an organised fashion towards their vehicles. “Hold it right there, criminal scum!” Gregory bellowed, as the jewellery store came into sight. Julia laughed, keeping to her teammate’s pace with ease but yelping as, suddenly, the road’s elastic tarmac bulged upward. The heroes stumbled on the new steepness, before feeling themselves being sent backward by the huge shockwave summoned by the IED detonated under the road. It was like a big noisemaker – no fireball, but a huge bang. The windows of the shops along the road shook dramatically in its wake. Julia caught herself, her ankles absorbing some pretty snazzy energy and smirking. Gregory wasn’t so lucky, bouncing off the road and stumbling into a combat roll. “The fuck-!” “The lever!! I knew it was a bomb! Dastardly villains!” The police dolls were in disarray. The vehicles piled on the destroyed road, their simple minds keeping them from reversing and just driving around to the other side. Such things weren’t about to stop Julia. Bringing herself to the ground in a constricted crouch, her quirk getting its chance to shine. Her legs, beneath her school trousers, were made of coils of muscle, giving them the ability to jump to extraordinary heights. And jump she did, over the broken, wall-like verge of concrete and tarmac, straight towards the villains. “Prepare yourse-” she was interrupted, most likely, by the prepared attack of one of the UA students, knocking her aside in one way or another to make way for their escape. The students, from there, would have plenty of time to get to where they needed to go. The reservoir was a huge basin of sea-level high water that was clearly not clean enough to drink. Ningyo-sensei and the construction experts weren’t miracle workers. It was very, very different to the reservoir nearby Musutafu, placed here for DRAMA! But it served its purposes. Around it was a huge circle of foundational concrete that made for devilishly even grounds. The disaster lever was huge and heavy looking, painted in shiny red paint. A cheeky construction worker painted “OOPS!” in small letters around it. Between the jewellery store and the reservoir was perhaps ten minutes worth of winding road and busy body dolls. Plenty of opportunities to cause some mayhem!! But what’s this? Just as they made their way clear of the scene, the squall of police sirens erupted from the north. Barrelling towards them (at a safe, low speed to prevent vehicle related accidents) were hulking husks of SWAT vans!! But Japan doesn’t even have SWAT teams? Well, the Ningyo-Nippon Squad were the closest thing available. Due to the activation of a disaster lever, the faux government signed a faux law stating that faux Japanese police were to be armed with heavy paint guns and permitted to shoot faux terrorists on sight. Sadly. Rin and Sean were now faux terrorists. DISASTER BEGUN! IED DETONATED ON COMMERCIAL PROPERTY RESPONSE: ANTI-TERRORIST LAW PASSED
POLICE DOLLS ARE NOW ALL ARMED WITH GUNS THAT FIRE D-RANK PAINTBALLS AND COME IN GREATER NUMBERS - CONFLICT IS NOW IMPOSSIBLE TO AVOID FOR LONG.
New Disaster Levers: There exist several hard to reach levers and easily seen levers. Assume that every building in your path contains at least one – feel free to ask for their effects so you may include them in your posts.
The enemy team is temporarily disabled!! Expect them to return with a vengeance!
Current Body Count: 0 Hero’s Points: 200/200
Get going, villains!!

words: 1051 tag: Rin Kurama notes: And the action is underway! |
As Sean listened to Rin talk strategy, the boy smiled, impressed by the way she could come up with something on the fly. She wasn't class 1-A's president for nothing! Her words of advice were definitely solid. Being aware of their surroundings in order to watch out for threats and not lose points so carelessly, being able to communicate with each other at all times, and sticking close to each other not only to activate certain levers that could not be done alone, but to have each other's backs. All very good points to keep in mind. Additionally, it was best not to linger around one spot for too long. After all, a moving target was a lot harder to hit than a stationary one. Why make things easier for the opponents?
Rin then suggested pulling a lever and then moving on to another area with more levers and a fire hydrant for Sean to use his quirk with. Then they would pull on a lever that required both of them to pull, and then go from there. Keep moving, keep communicating, keep out of trouble from the cops and heroes, and keep the pressure on their opponents. Sean smiled, giving Rin a high-five and a nod of approval. "Roger that! Awesome plan, Rin!"
With their plan decided, it was time to put it into action. After setting off the alarm and pulling on the lever, Sean grinned as he watched the bomb go off, knocking back the police and heroes. That was awesome! Well in a real life situation, it would be anything but. Still, none of this was real, so Sean had no problem admiring the impressive detonation. However, Sean could not and would not spend too much time admiring the blast and its aftermath. He needed to move quickly. And so he did. Regardless of whether Rin kept to the rooftops or climbed down to move on foot, Sean would quickly glance in her direction and then begin walking quickly in whatever general direction Rin was going so as to remain close to her.
Predictably, the heroes would not just let the villains leave so quickly. Julia was already on the move. However, so was Sean. Seeing as he wanted his escape to go as smooth as possible, he decided to not hold back and use his quirk as soon as he could. As the quirk's activation began to slowly cool down the blue-haired boy's body, he quickly opened up every bottle hanging on his belt. With all four caps removed, he forcibly ejected the water from the bottles. Then, he concentrated and wrapped the water around the bat he was holding. The bat now resembled an aquatic sledgehammer. With all his might, Sean swung the compressed water-reinforced bat at Julia, attempting to either hit her hard and knock her back, or to make her back off. Seeing as there was not a lot of water to work with, Sean did not want to compress it too much. Because of this, the water was only a bit harder than wood, rather than making it as hard as he could make it (which would be a light metal like bronze in this case). Still, to Julia, it would feel like getting smacked hard if she got hit directly.
Immediately after the swing, Sean began to run away from Julia and the other law enforcement. The reservoir was still quite a ways away. The blue-haired boy did his best to move quickly enough so as to put a great distance between himself and the heroes and police in as short amount of time as possible, yet slow enough that he would not just be immediately out of breath. To make it easier on himself, Sean moved the water away from the bat and back to the four bottles. Once the water was back in its containers, the blue-haired boy would deactivate his quirk. He knew that he would need to use it again soon, but as he did not need it right this instant, he figured it would be easier not to have to keep concentrating as he ran.
However, things would not go so smoothly for very long. Just as the villains were clear of the scene, Sean heard loud blaring police sirens that gradually became louder and louder. "Of course." The boy muttered to himself. Still, he would not panic. At a time like this, panicking would just lead to haste, carelessness, and mistakes. Sean could not afford to let Rin down. He needed to remain calm and think of what to do next. Speaking of Rin, Sean glanced over in her direction. If she had anything to tell him, he would listen closely. Otherwise, he would just continue moving.
A couple of seconds later, Sean noticed several things that immediately made him smile. A nearby building, one that would be decent to use as cover from the soon to arrive police. In front of this building was another lever. This one looked like the one at the jewelry store, which meant that Sean could pull this one without having to get Rin to come over and assist him with it. That way, if the police arrived by the time he went over to pull it, Rin could stay safely hidden from sight. Opposite the building was a fire hydrant. If Rin could help bust this open, that meant far more water for Sean to work with. Finally, there was a small group of dolls to wreak havoc on that were walking near the fire hydrant.
With the siren getting louder and the police undoubtedly getting closer, there was not much time. Sean needed to decide what he would do. After a moment of thinking, Sean came up with a plan. "Yo Rin, I'll take care of the lever, since I'm closer to it. You deal with the puppets near that fire hydrant, okay? I'll come join you when I'm done." Hopefully, it would not take long for Rin to wreck the dolls and get that fire hydrant working. If Rin was not finished with her task by the time Sean went over to join her, then he would gladly offer her some assistance.
Sean went over to the lever and pulled., wondering what would happen this time.

TL;DR: After pulling the lever and setting off the bomb, Sean runs in whichever direction Rin is moving. After seeing Julia head towards him, Sean uses his quirk and the bat he's holding to swing at her and get her to back off. He then continues to run, keeping close enough to Rin, of course.
Making it to a building with a lever, Sean goes to pull on that lever, leaving Rin to take care of the dolls that are hanging out near the fire hydrant that's opposite from the building.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Rin watched as the mayhem ensued. Perfect. If the heroes wanted to keep their points, they'd have to dedicate at least a single person to cleanup duty, or who knew how many points they could possibly lose. As for the one that had gotten in their way, Sean had been quick in sweeping her aside. It was clear the girl had been preparing some kind of speech, only to be swept away in the middle of it, as Sean had been a little too eager to have a go at her. Rin chuckled, it was actually kind of endearing to see Sean this hyped. Usually, the boy would've been, if Rin was to take a guess, less stoked in regards to playing the villain. Here, however, it was a learning opportunity. Understand what went on in the minds of those they were meant to catch. Understand the objective and the way of reaching it. That way, they'd be better equipped to deal with actual villains. Heck, even something as simple as a negotiation became simpler, if you understood what the one negotiating was looking for in earnest. As neither of the two opposing students seemed to have realized where Rin was hiding, the girl kept low for now. Utilizing her blood like a spider, she attached it to the top of buildings, reeling herself in. All the while, thinking of a way to counteract the police. Surprisingly, or perhaps not too surprisingly, the police behaved like police would in the real world. They all came from somewhere. A location. Meaning they were all grouped, needing to approach from the same roads. That information gave Rin an idea...Sharpening the blood to itsr absolute limit, the girl sliced through electrical poles, street lamps, traffic lights. Essentially anything tall that could fall over and block the road in several ways. Naturally, the electrical poles were the most efficient, as removing them could be quite the hazard. Essentially, Rin refused to engage the police directly - thats how they'd get to shoot at her, afterall. Instead, she was making a clear statement. You are not coming down this path. Walk around. With that settled, Rin rushed to catch up with Sean. The boy hadn't been able to engage the opposing forces at the fire hydrant yet. The girl was in a groove, that much was for certain. The world, filled with possibilities, tricks, advantages to be gained, was a playing field for someone who could quickly use their mind. Rather than attacking the puppets, Rin simply set off the fire hydrant. A slice, from a distance, and water began spluttering everywhere. So, now one road had an enormous amount of water flooding everywhere. The other road had a ton of toppled pillars and poles of various sorts. The heroes were already dealing with the cleanup from one lever, and now Sean was activating another. To say that the villains that were the Yuuei team were causing chaos might be a bit of an understatement. The amount of problems the two of them were racking up in mere moments, were quite impressive. "Sean, lets keep moving. Head for the biggest target, the reservoir! It must practically bankrupt the heroes for points!" Rin called, continuing to move forwards, while everything behind herself and Sean were left as problematic areas for the heroes to deal with. Rin was trying to shut down the police. Rin was trying to cause a headache for the heroes. Rin was heading for the biggest, most juicy target that was in the area. They were going to win this, in stellar fashion, and blow these other schools out the water. No pun intended.
