Sports Festival Rescue Course - Game 1 The participants of this event will be divided into Team Red and Team Blue, with their starting positions outlined on the map above. Although the two teams will be sharing a common goal, they will not be working together. In fact, for this event the two teams are to treat each other as villains that are trying to kidnap the civilians. The sectioned off area has been specially prepared for the event and contains a total of four points of interest, designated with the letters A through D on the map. The area itself was part of an old harbour which had stood abandoned and dilapidated for several years. Most of the buildings within had been scheduled for demolition, but with the advent of the Sports Festival most ended up being re-purposed for the event. Team Red will be tasked with investigating areas B and C while Team Blue will investigate areas A and D. The goal in each area is to locate and rescue as many targets as possible. The targets are represented by simple training dummies. Once the dummies are located the team is expected to handle them with the same care they would handle a civilian under the same circumstances and to transport them to one of the evacuation points, designated with the letter E on the map. An NPC is also present on each team. UA students are expected to communicate and cooperate with them to the best of their ability. Points will be awarded for your actions throughout this event, however which actions award points is a secret that will not be revealed until the end. This is a test of your judgement.

Post by Shimizu Haruto on Feb 19, 2019 0:35:31 GMT -4
Finally, the time had arrived. It had been a relatively busy day- As always, Haruto had made perhaps one too many commitments. Obviously, the largest one had been the club stall for the cooking club, which he had overseen the setup of, as well as helped out in. As the cooking club president, he couldn’t possibly have pushed that to someone else! Not to mention the rescue team planning meeting which he had gone to earlier. Time would show if that had been beneficial or counterproductive, considering how that had gone. Well, they had patched things up in the end, so hopefully it would all be well. And somehow in between those, he had found time to check in with one of the support class’s newest members, a girl who was having a hard time adapting to the new culture.
Well, all things considered, that wasn’t too much busier than a normal day- Except that it all had to be crammed in prior to this. The rescue course, which he had been anticipating ever since the option to sign up had become available. Or perhaps it was ever since Semper Fi, when the boy had made the decision to become capable of field operations, and not just healing the injured in a hospital. This was his best chance to see just how far he had progressed on that path, despite the short amount of time. After all, to suddenly change his direction so drastically, so far into the year, into his life- The white-haired boy held no illusions. He was no genius. He wasn’t expecting to wow the audience with a sublime display of skill. He just wanted to do the only thing he could- His best. And if that wasn’t good enough, then he’d do it again next year. If it still wasn’t enough? Well, wasn’t that why there were three years of high school?
In any case, not having a proper hero uniform like many of his classmates, Haruto simply wore generic UA gym clothes. He had to admit, he felt a bit underdressed compared to his teammates, but he had no one to blame but himself! Moreover, now wasn’t the time to fall into a long winded monologue about what he would be looking for if he were to receive a proper costume. ”Good morning, everyone. I know I’ve met some of you,” This was directed at Arisu and a Chikako, whom he had met at that morning’s rescue team meeting, ”And for others, this is the first time we’ve met, More specifically, Kaito and Amanda. ”But for those of you who do not know me, my name is Shimizu Haruto. I am the Vice President of the support studies class here at UA. It is nice to meet you, and I will be in your care.”
Haruto gave a polite bow to his teammates. As the introductions inevitably continued, Haruto would explain his quirk and abilities- lMy quirk is Purification, a mutation type quirk that allows me to absorb poisons, venoms, carcinogens, bacteria- Anything harmful to the human body, really. I have mutated blood cells which feed on these impurities, and I can also control these blood cells to a degree. They have a surprisingly high tensile strength, which should me to use them to lift medium sized rubble, although I admittedly do not have significant amount of practice with this. It also does offer me a degree of protection, although not significantly so. Other than my quirk, I do have some training in first aid, although again, not very much.” It was unfortunate but true, that despite his original goal having been to become a doctor, Haruto’s medical skills had stagnated ever since entering UA. As expected, someone without talent could only work twice as hard to make up for it.
Just then, a thought occurred to him. Obviously prompted by his earlier meeting with Charlie Fujioka, Haruto turned to the foreigner on the red team. ”<<Sorry, before, I should have asked- Do you speak Japanese?>>” Haruto asked with faltering, uncertain English. Fortunately, the boy had caught a lot of his grammatical errors while attempting to speak to Charlie, and his words were much more intelligible despite it only being a few hours later. However, if it turned out she was monolingual- Well, it would be very awkward to have made that whole speech only to learn that there was someone who hadn’t understood a word he’d said! Almost as awkward as his inevitable attempt to translate the entire explanation into her language!

--- arisu --- - - - This was not how Arisu had planned the day to go.
Originally, the Rescue competition had promised to be a wonderful, wholesome event that let her work with her classmates and friends against a clock instead of an enemy, proving themselves as competent heroes without having to pit themselves against other students directly, just indirectly. Originally, she'd been delighted that for once, her competition karma- the same luck that placed her at odds with her friends at nearly every possible turn, was finally going to be stifled! She'd get to work WITH Emi, WITH Shiko, WITH Hye-Rin! This was most of the draw for enrolling in what had seemed, originally, like the least violent event, someplace she could let the unique qualities of her quirk and abilities shine.
But alas. Competitive Karma was not to be denied.
She found herself standing in her long, Lash The Human Hurricane-inspired red coat beside two acquaintances and one stranger. There was Chikako, who'd been so upset during the meeting that she hadn't really shared her abilities, besides stating that she'd picked the event because she felt it was the one she'd fail least. That... wasn't a very positive attitude, but perhaps there was more than she could offer than she admitted. There was Haruto, who was incredibly handy for a rescue situation with the broad ways his quirk could apply. And then there was the stranger, who she'd seen in class a few times but didn't really know how his quirk functioned.
And on the other team? The one she'd expected to be filled with students from other schools?
Emi. Shiko. Hye-Rin.
It was very, very hard to stay focused with the sheer disappointment ringing through Arisu's head. On the one hand, she felt confident in their team, that wasn't the issue. What upset her was that instead of working with her friends, she was against them. Instead of competing for the best scores independently, they were competing directly with instructions to treat other teams as villains. It wasn't that it was an unfair setup, or uninteresting, or anything of the sort, but- it felt like a bait and switch, and the contrasting emotions between the solidarity she'd been expecting and the sudden competition she was facing now instead was leaving her stomach in knots.
But. This wasn't the first overwhelmingly negative emotion she'd had to deal with. Anxiety, self-doubt- both were constant companions, and Arisu had made an art form out of hiding her own worries and disappointments from everyone around her. This was no different- she couldn't afford to let Chikako catch wind of how disappointed she was, or there was a decent chance she'd take it to mean she didn't want to work with her, which wasn't accurate and definitely wasn't going to be a productive feeling to let her have. Instead, Arisu hid behind her perfected, bubbly attitude, walking up to the others with a bright smile and quick-moving eyes that made it all but impossible to catch the level of stress she was masking behind the determined positivity.
Haruto spoke first, and she chimed in immediately after his introduction. "And I'm Arisu Disukodo- I've met all of you before, except for our guest-" she said, gesturing towards Amanda with a bright smile. "-and I've got nothing but good feelings about working together with the lot of you. We're going to do wonderfully." She fell quiet and let Haruto explain his quirk afterward, adding her own explanation on the tail of his, lifting a hand and letting a thin trickle of blackfire flow down her arm and form a small black fireball in her palm. "And my quirk is called Antipyre. I create blackfire-" She gestured towards the dark fireball by way of identification. "-which consumes energy instead of fuel. It works on people, too, draining their energy stores and leaving them exhausted without harm- and breaks down rubble and materials without significant danger to trapped civilians- or, it would, if they were alive and not dummies. I'll have to be careful about that."
Haruto had a good point, and Arisu's eyes shot to Amanda and her expression immediately slid to apologetic, and she offered a little bow to say sorry. "Ah- prease fohgive us, we did not intend to exclude." Haruto had already asked if she spoke Japanese, so she simply backed him up with a little supportiveness.
Once the decision on language had been reached- either to stay in Japanese or help Amanda with translation- Arisu looked around at the others. "We should decide whether we want to make a more aggressive or passive approach to this. I know three of the four on their team, and... two of them, at least last I knew, hadn't really put much into their combat capabilities as of yet. Since we're treating them as villains... it might be to our advantage to try to capitalize on that and bring them down, but- they also have Emi, someone I don't know, and a foreign student- and it'd be safest to presume all three of those to be potent threats. While I don't feel like it'd be a prime decision to leave them entirely alone, I don't think it would benefit us to focus too much on aggression- we'd risk losing members of our own team and reducing our ability to perform in the latter half of the event. We might be best served trying to take a path from our first rescue scenario to the second that will minimize chances of running into them."
"Or..." Arisu murmured, thinking hard. "... if we view them as villains, then everyone in the rescue zones we aren't assigned to are basically potential victims who would be hurt or kidnapped if we don't help them. If we can secure our first zone quickly, it might be worth it to rush to -their- second zone and rescue as many as we quickly can before heading to our second zone. The roundabout path would minimize chances we'd cross paths, and we'd have both rescued extra civilians from the villains, as well as reduced the number of civilians they can save in the end." She fidgeted a little, looking uncomfortable. "I'm a little iffy on whether that's bad sportsmanship or not, though. It'd be the best thing to do in a real rescue scenario, but this is also a competition, and it's got rules. What does everyone else think?"

Post by Momonji Yamada on Feb 20, 2019 1:55:28 GMT -4
The day started like many others, with a nasty dream. For as long as he could remember, Momo had occasionally had the same reoccurring nightmare. He was stuck in the jungle, surrounded by shadows and strangers. Strange creatures pounced out of the darkness and began eating everyone, but Momo ran. He ran and hid in a cave, cowering as the monsters creeper closer. Like always Momo awoke just moments before one of the monsters got him. Rising with a start, Momo clutched at his chest, feeling his heart racing as he came to his senses. Perhaps he had lived that day in another life, perhaps it was an omen of the future, Momo didn't like either of those options. Grabbing the nearest pillow, a large pink salamander plushie he had owned since he was little, Momo covered his face, trying to block out the lingering nightmare. "Ugh... It happened again Droggy..." he mumbled to the salamander as he stretched. Taking a cursory look at his bedside clock, he lowered his brow. It was already seven in the morning... somehow he had slept in later than normal. It was a pleasant surprise, but a surprise none the less. Grabbing his toiletries, Momo made his way to the showers, he had a rather big day ahead of him, and he wasn't about to let some nightmare throw him off his groove.
...
Momonji scratched at his head with a lazy sigh as followed the others to their designated starting area. To say he had been looking forward to today would technically be truthful, though less so in the traditional ways. Momonji was by no means interested in putting on a show, standing out and showing off were not interests of his. I was a self-inflicted infection of altruism that pushed him to even enter into this event in the first place, that and the opportunity for growth. Looking back over his gathered allies, Momo was left relatively speechless. Thankfully it seemed there was one familiar flowered face, though to call her much more than an acquaintance would be a stretch. Rolling his shoulder, he used what time they had to set up some established common ground.
"Yo... so for those who don't know, I'm Momonji Yamada. I can make wires come out of my body, they take a while to make so don't go cutting them willy nilly." As he introduced himself, he demonstrated slightly. His knuckles on his right hand seemed to part slightly as a thick wire with a pointed weight at the end slid free, dangling for a moment before he pulled it back in, the. seam where it escaped closing back up into a tiny stretchy hole between his fingers. "Not that I'm volunteering to be the leader or nothing, but we should probably come up with a plan before this event goes any further. Sounds like our primary goal is helping out the people in need. I'm not really too keen on getting in fights, but if push comes to shove I'm not defenseless. If someone else has an aptitude for that by all means make that your priority... now does anyone have any ideas?"

Post by Kang Hye-Rin on Feb 20, 2019 6:50:06 GMT -4
Hye-Rin wished she was more prepared for today.
It had been a long time coming as everyone trained around her, but the Sports Festival was finally in full bloom as Spring rounded the corner! The signups were a no-brainer for her, but the days leading up to the opening of the Rescue Course were ill-prepared for her. Playing video games, watching K-drama, and cooking took up the majority of her time, and the Korean crammed in sessions at the dojo at the very last minute. Not the healthiest way to do it as she stood among her classmates sleep-deprived and exhausted, but it would have to do.
Though the chances of getting a certain vlogger she looked up to on her team were slim, Hye-Rin still came to the event with her hair pulled up in a pastel scrunchie- a style that Emi always managed to somehow make look both elegant and child-like. Though, it mostly made Hye-Rin look the latter. Wildflower buds came in patches all over her cheeks and neck, and would peep out of the collar of her gym clothes as she approached the pinkette,"Emi-chan!" The flowery girl would smile brightly even through the butterflies that were beginning to inhabit her stomach, knowing she should keep a positive attitude for the others that could not. It was the first time she'd spoken to her schoolmate since the reveal of her true identity in the chatroom, and she was nothing but ecstatic to finally see her in person. Not everyone could say the same, and Hye-Rin would treasure this very moment for months to come.
Trying her best to reassure her idol that she was ready for anything, the Korean would give a driven and toothy grin towards the girl,"I-I'll try my best to stay focused on the task at hand! I know Arisu-chan and Vice President-san are on the other team, but I'll make sure to make you a priority today!" Of course, that was easier said than done. Arisu had helped her a great many times, becoming a constant and stable force in her life as she adjusted to life at U.A.. And, though Haruto was little more than the Vice President that sat next to her in class, she'd come to enjoy how relaxing of an aura the white-haired boy had. It would surely prove quite the challenge to see them as anything other than two incredible future heroes, let alone villains. Nevertheless, she had a vow to her team. Letting them down would only result in disappoint from them and herself, she was sure of it.
Turning away from Emi to face the rest of the group, she'd frantically try to backtrack. The way she pointed her words at her idol made it seem like it was only to her, and it wasn't her intention to offend anyone! "Ah, and the rest of the team of course!" It saddened her that the rest of her team was strangers, but the Korean would have to make do. There was no reason she couldn't make friends out of them today, and went to each of them to shake their hand as a peer,"It's nice to meet you, Momo-chan! Your Quirk is very cool!" Her friendliness was infectious and her smile rivaled the sun, but it wasn't in her blood to be any less. Strangers were just friends you haven't met yet, after all!
When it came to Shiko, the walking bouquet would bow along with her greeting,"Hello, I don't believe we've met. I'm Kang Hye-Rin!" The girl's eyes looked a bit disinterested and her skin looked a tad... odd. Though, the flowers that grew out of her skin were sure to turn some heads, too.
Stepping over to who Hye-Rin could only assume was the student from another school, she'd hold both of her hands graciously,"Wah...you're very beautiful! I like your wings!" Fai seemed like a nice girl, and the Korean would surely feed off of her positive energy if she reacted the way she'd hope.
Turning back to the group, she'd announce how useful she'd be in the course. It wasn't often she had to use either her martial arts training in Capoeira and her Quirk for practical uses, but she was semi-prepared nonetheless,"As for my Quirk, I kinda just heal. Don't worry about me in combat, though! I only use it for self defense!" Afterwards, she'd be nothing but smiles. Any plan they went with she'd follow, as she never was one for leading. She could only hope that Emi would step up and give the rag-tag team some direction.

Post by Chikako Safaia on Feb 20, 2019 14:53:42 GMT -4
Chikako slowly made her way over to the event, dreading the events to come. She was dressed in her hero costume she had prepared since knowing that she would come to Yueei academy. Fake black wings adorned her back, only there for show and without actual function, alluding to her quirk to a point. Her arms were covered in a black silky material that seemed to be connected through a bra of sorts and her right arm having a mixture of pearls and soft cloth decoratively around her hand and some of her arm. Her legs were fully covered by high-thigh stockings and a unique pair of high heels boots. Lastly, she had quite the stunning dress with a flowing right-side that extended lower then the left side of the dress. On top of her back was a weird looking shield that looked very different then what a usual shield would look like, almost like a rose with how it was seemingly folded into the shape of a shield. (links below) Chikako had a different air around her then when she was at the meeting, almost like she was a tad bit more professional then she was when she showed up to the meeting. Instead of being a seemingly shy and anxious mess, she seemed to be a tad bit more strong with her walk and her eyes looked forward with a type of flare. This would be quite the change from the small poor chikako that they saw before, but this was not to weird for Chikako herself. What had changed? Merely, she started to go into her 'model' mode, small self-doubting girls did not make the cover of magazines, confident and powerful ones did. A 'fake persona' for business purposes, if you would, and what better time to use it then now where her imagery and anxiousness would only be a further hindrance to her already big hindrances. She arrived to the group of people, and looked around at whom she was paired with. A foreigner caught her attention first most, Arisu whom she saw at the meeting, and the other people grew a blank from the small girl. The girl shoved her hands into the dress's built in pocket and watched them, picking up on some of what they said but not much. "Okay, nice to meet you, I am Chikako Safaia.", she spoke with her broken accent in japanese proceeding to translate it to english for the foreigner thereafter. "My quirk is Tenbi, if anything tries to harm me or harms me, say a stray rock or a person tries to hit me in the face, Tenbi comes in a cloud of Pixelated darkness to either destroy the object or kill that person, or at least try too. I will be frank, I have no control of him at all. He is huge, six feet eleven or two-hundred and eleven centimeters, whichever suits your fancy. He is durable enough to take a rock to the face with somewhat ease and the spikes on his body are deadly; they will slash through solid stone pretty easily. Oh, and he can fly. We share senses, more or less. If you manage to stab him and cause a wound, I will have a wound myself and start bleeding out. However, I do have a way to despawn him if it does aggro someone it should not, if I move fast enough my connection between him will disappear and he will despawn or likewise I am fifteen or so feet away from him or 5 meters. However, that can be used against me to despawn it if my opponent does use it against me.", she spoke in her broken accent again and proceeded to translate it for the foreigner. "Lastly, I do have a shield that is a we bit reinforced, so it can take a blow; the unique thing about this shield though is it has forms. i can turn it into a hook or a blade through a switch inside the glove; so it can be used as a multi-purpose tool. That's all I have to bring to the table besides my skill of drawing and taking pictures", she told the group of people giving them her skill set to work with, soon after translating for the foreigner, and not that much despair that she had when she was at the meeting. Though, it was very obvious that she was more of combatant then she was a support. "As I am more of a combatant, I will follow your plans Arisu, I was never much of a leader", she said as she grabbed her shield from her back, which was surprisingly lightweight with it's special makeup so even the fragile looking girl could pick it up with relevant ease. Her eyes went to the foreigner, curious to an extent by the stranger; even if it was a front for the most part she was anxious about new people and it was showing from her constant glances.

Post by Shiko Chiyogami on Feb 20, 2019 20:38:13 GMT -4
Shiko couldn't help but feel her stomach drop whenever the instructions were finally announced. She had joined this event knowing that she wasn't good enough yet to face her fellow students in a competition. At least then she could have trusted on the superior abilities of her friends like Ari-chan!
That worried Shiko. She knew hat her quirk had something to do with fire. That worried her greatly. It would only take her a second to knock her out of the competition. The only person that she really considered her friend here was going to be her enemy. she didn't know how to handle that! She looked around at the people that were with her. She knew absolutely none of them, and the lot of them were already breaking off into their own groups. Shiko lowered her a bit. How was she going to work with these people if she didn't know them? Her ears picked up on the random chatter, but there was one odd accent that stood out above them all. She said something about Ari-chan. Shiko picked up her head and snapped it in that direction. She started to say something to the Korean girl, but was quickly cut off by her speaking to yet someone else. She walked up to the both of them and let out a few utterances trying to cut in, but never quite managed to speak loud enough to garner the attention she was looking for.
It would be then that the Hye-Rin would suddenly turn to her with a curt bow and greeting. Shiko smiled a little smile to her, for she looked just as strange, if not stranger than Shiko herself did. It was good to know that there were others with plights similar to her own. Shiko returned her own bow. "No, we haven't, Kang-san. I'm Shiko Chiyogami. You can call me Shiko."
And just like that, she was gone, moving on to the next person. Something about Hye-Rin made Shiko's day just a little bit brighter, and she couldn't help but think that it would have been nice to talk to her just a little bit more. Shiko made a glance towards the Chinese student. So many little oddities here. It was almost as if heroics attracted more of the misfits into its folds. Regardless, she wasn't about to go up to her and introduce herself, she would wait for Fai to introduce herself to the rest of them. Shiko hated being the one to start a conversation.
Suddenly, it would be Hye-Rin who would take charge of the situation again. Shiko arched and eyebrow at that, but she knew exactly what the girl was doing. With what little experience she did have, she knew that the girl was fishing for a strategy, wanting to know any special powers that the group could make full use of.
"My quirk lets me unfold myself like a giant origami." and, to punctuate her statement, she would pull back the sleeve of her athletic outfit and allow her arm to unfold to the considerable length of around three meters, getting wider the further it went. Her hand seemed much larger than its original size, but it was noticeably flatter as well, she then refolded the appendage back to its appropriate size and smiled nervously at the eyes that were no doubt trained on her.
"If I may. Uhm, it looks like point B looks a lot more defensible than point D. F-ff-fai I think you would be really good on the offensive. I'm not too sure, though. What do you guys think?"

Post by Emi Ryoko Tachibana on Feb 22, 2019 12:49:38 GMT -4
Emi had forgotten the feeling of butterflies in her stomach.
A self-made star couldn’t afford to stay nervous for long. Nobody would believe, let alone follow, anybody that allowed their nerves to get the better of them. Years spent with that mindset meant that an aura of confidence came naturally to her, even when she was pushed out of her comfort zone. But this? This was a little different. It wasn’t just a new challenge. It was a rescue course. It wasn’t her first, but it could be her first big win, or first disaster. For all her efforts, so many – too many – of her classes ended with ‘room for improvement’, points not considered, targets unreached. There were only so many times she could accept failure before it started to eat at her will. And this time, the failure would be televised. Live. No reshoots. No edits.
No pressure, right?
“No,” she whispered, but even her hushed voice held defiance. If she let her own mind defeat her, she didn’t stand a chance on the course. They didn’t. Slightly widened eyes darted around the team; she’d let her mind wander, and missed a few of their words. Nothing major, from the sounds of it; the quiet boy from the meeting suddenly had a lot more to say. A proper introduction and a rundown of his quirk was more than she’d gotten from past teammates (‘Not naming any names, Saito,’ she thought), and established the sleepyhead as more than a slacker.
Hye-Rin was almost exactly how she imagined the girl to be from their chats. She’d expected somebody shorter, but the personality was a match. More importantly, the girl was looking up to her. Expecting her to be spectacular. And it wasn’t just her words, either. Maybe she was reaching, but had the girl copied her hairstyle?
… Fuck. She couldn’t disappoint. She couldn’t fail. Not when she’d be put on a pedestal. She’d been silly to even let the thought enter her mind.
She returned the girl’s grin in kind, but otherwise remained quiet. It was good to give the other students a chance to speak, but she needed to listen too. Figure out what they had to work with, because between the stutters, hesitation and outright admission, none of them were eager to take charge. If somebody didn’t soon, they’d be talking things out until the final bell.
As for her? Well, she certainly looked like a leader. She’d always said the gym uniform was too gaudy for its own good, and there was no way she was going on-air in it if she had the option. Instead, she’d had her design brought to life by Osagawara Industries (and graciously funded by the Bank of Daddy). Dark purple, pink and cream were accented by a gold metal and white crystals in a lightweight, but covertly functional costume. Daddy always said to dress for the job she wanted. Now she’d just have to play the part too.
With a final glance at the team and her signature smirk, she opened her mouth.
“Name’s Emi. Hero name: Halo. It’s Greek for salt, because that’s my quirk.” She raised an arm as if to point ahead, but her fingers remained idle. Instead, the crystal on the back of her hand shivered to life, morphing into a round disc for a few moments. “Moulding and manipulating salt is the easiest way to put it. I can throw it, make defences, use it to lift some objects and people, and draw it out of other objects. So this-“ Her hand moved to point at the troubled waves beside them. “Is a really good place for me to be. Seawater is something like 3.5% salt, and when it’s constantly moving… I’ve got a good supply.” Trying to use her quirk on turbulent water could be a different story, but she’d cross that bridge when they got to it. “If I’ve got it right, that’s at least three members of our team that can fight at a range, so that’s probably what we should stick to if we run into any trouble. Hye-Rin-kun, I don’t know what ‘self-defence’ involves, but it sounds like you might be best defending our targets if it comes to it. You seem like you’d be good at moral support, anyway – I know we’re just grabbing dummies and it’s going to look silly, but you should probably give them a bit of reassurance if things get ugly. Momonji-san, Shiko-chan, how’s your physical strength when you’re using your quirk? Think you can hold people with them? Because there’ll probably be a few ‘civilians’ at each point, and we only have so many hands… Especially if we end up under fire. If we run into the other team, and I bet we will…”
She paused, sucking up her pride. “Our priority should be to stay on the defensive, until we can make sure any civilians we have are out of danger. Even then, we have to be careful – nobody is going to win by attacking the other team’s dummies, so remember to aim around them if you have to aim at all. If anybody has any CC- er, crowd control- damnit-“ Her inner gamer was showing. “Attacks that don’t hurt, like blinding, binding… Those would be great.”
“As for where to go first… The most obvious choice would be the building in front of us.” She gestured to Point A, at the end of the road. “It’s closer, and it would mean we don’t have to rush back here if we’re short for time. But, if we went straight to point D… There’s less of a chance that we’d run into the other team, since they’ll likely be running to their first point. That’s only if we’re quick, though. They have less of a distance to cross than we do, and we could be intercepted anyway.” She folded her arms and stared into them for a second. “It’s a group decision, but I say we go to A, assess the situation, and then decide if we should prioritise the other point. Of course, if you think that’s a terrible idea, then feel free to say that too. I really feel like we should focus on us rescuing our set of civilians first before we try to go for extra, but again, group decision.”
There was so much more she had to discuss. Their opponents, some of them friends and former partners. Their quirks, and what her allies should expect. A reminder to stay calm and do their best. But rescue scenarios only offered so much time to talk before everything went to hell; in fact, she’d be lucky they had the time to talk, which was more than one Alexander Deraine had given her in the past. Dick.
So she used what time she had left addressing the odd one out – one of the school’s many visitors, who she’d neglected thus far. “Sorry. I didn’t really involve you in the plans, since I don’t know what you do.” Or anything about her at all, other than what her mutation betrayed. “Just speak up if you feel like you fit in somewhere, or you’ve got any ideas. I’m betting those wings aren’t just for show, which would be great for finding civilians fast. If rescue training has taught me anything, it’s that speed makes a big difference.”
“Oh, and to not bother planning, because shit’ll hit the fan immediately, but let’s try to not worry about that for now.” Another cheeky smirk. Her nerves had long since fled the scene, and if she’d done well, hopefully her peers would feel the same.Emi's hero costume has: - Exposed dense salt crystals on her centre of her costume’s torso, on the back of her left hand, on her right shoulder pad, in the middle of her belt and on her kneepads.
- Grains of salt in her shoe’s soles and in the torso (the pink band and the diamond on top of it). The salt cannot be removed without heavy damage to the costume, but it can be controlled.

Kaito spent his morning preparing for the Rescue Course the best he could. A series of stretches and mild exercise had him pumped up and ready for everything they could throw at him. He wished he had more time maybe he could have come up with some sort of outfit that could help him, but as it stood he had cut off the sleeves on his gym outfit. He needed his arms to be as free as possible, so removing the sleeves would at least help. He was going through a final set of stretches when one of the teacher, the hardass named Junko came to escort him from his room.
He was silent as she walked him to their destination. By the time he arrives most of his teammates were already gathered and discussing something. He didn’t know any of them so he just stood with his arms crossed, listening. They were plotting and planning and explaining their quirks to one another. Kaito wasn’t all that interested in following orders or sitting here gabbing so he kept quiet until everyone was done talking.
“Kaito…” He looked at them all with his usual blank and grumpy face after they were done talking. “I stretch.” And with that he was done. He didn’t have much else to say so he patiently waited for the signal to start.

To say that Amanda Chevrolet was nervous would be an understatement. This wasn't the girl's first time abroad, but it was definitely the first time she was this far away from home. She found herself in a completely different culture, barely understanding the language or the customs. And that was still the least of her worries. This was a tournament. She was representing her school and in a way her entire country. She never expected she'd have to take part in something like this when she enrolled at Adler Academy but... as much as she hated to admit it, public appearances and dealing with all sorts of events was part of a hero's life after all. The fact that they had gathered at what seemed to be a harbour also made her somewhat anxious. A rescue event should be... something safe right? Maybe even an indoors activity on how to properly treat wounded civilians and how to get them to safety. Though there was a thousand thoughts buzzing around in her head, Amanda knew that it was already far too late for regrets. She'd have to steel herself and do her best. Both for the sake of her temporary teammates and for the sake of her school reputation... and her own of course!
She approached her Japanese teammates, wearing simple gym clothes rather than her costume which had still been a "work in progress" deal when she left her home-country. For a time she simply stood still holding her breath almost hoping they wouldn't notice her. It was only a matter of time before she broke though as her behavior was simply rude and she hadn't been raised to be rude. Before she had the chance to rectify her own mistake however one of the students spoke to her in English. Amanda felt like she could almost pass out. The first thing she was asked about was her Japanese. Swallowing once she mounted a response. "Y-Yes... a little bit..." she replied in Japanese. Though an accent was noticeable, her pronunciation and grammar were almost perfectly clear. "M-My name is Amanda Cheverlot, I mean Chevrolet. I'm from Adler Academy and it's a pleasure to meet you all." she introduced herself with a small bow towards the teammates. "I uhm, I'm not really good at combat but I-I can give you all a small boost if you need it or I could calm down the rescue targets if they're panicking... though uhm... since they're dummies I guess that wouldn't work... uhm... I mean... I'll do my best and follow your lead!" she finished the clumsy introduction as a wave of relief washed over her. It was quite a small one considering she still had to wait for the reaction of her teammates, but it was a start.
Hopefully things would go well from there.
___
Fan Lang walked with a skip in her step. She barely managed to get any sleep last night with how excited she was. She had regularly visited Japan with her family in the past so being here wasn't all that special on its own. But a hero tournament? Getting to take a peek at how other hero schools were doing? That was just awesome. She spent a good chunk of the last evening tinkering with her hero costume. Considering she had a mutation type quirk, that already gave her enough of a visual flare that she didn't have to try too hard with her costume. Fan Lang was wearing a silver and black, backless chinese dress with a crescent moon print. The backless part was mainly to allow room for her wings. Though quite simple, her uniquely shaped eyes with black scleras and the small white tuff of white hairs around her neck that almost acted as a scarf was enough to give her a very distinct look.
She approached her team with a confident stride. "Hey everyone! I'm Fan Lang, I'm the Chinese student assigned to your team." the moth girl introduced herself in almost perfect Japanese. "Rescue is my main thing so I'm not a frotnline fighter per se... but don't expect me to sit back if any of your get into a fight!" she said as she pumped her fist up in the air. "I can fly real fast and uhm, besides that I can wrap myself up in a cocoon for protection but not much else. Either way I have the mobility so feel free to toss me some of the rescue targets and I'll get em to the extraction in a jiffy!"
Having formally introduced herself Fan Lang almost immediately shifted her focus onto her teammates, their looks and their quirks. This was all so exciting.

Post by Shimizu Haruto on Feb 27, 2019 13:31:38 GMT -4
The Red team introduced themselves, one by one. Of course, some were more into it than others. Namely, Kaito refused to say more than three words, leaving Haruto unsure whether to laugh or cry. However, as a good class president, he did not allow this to fluster him, moving smoothly into further discussion. "Ah, that will be greatly helpful. My English is, well, unfortunate." Haruto would respond to Amanda. "If we ever are speaking too fast for you, please, don't hesitate to ask us to slow down. We won't get far if we have a communications breakdown, I'm afraid." All in all, it was convenient- Although admittedly unexpected. Haruto felt a jolt of inferiority- His English was so bad when it was a required subject, yet Amanda's Japanese was so solid despite it surely being an elective.
However, he could do nothing but shake those feelings off. If he compared himself to others in every aspect, he would surely come up lacking. The most he could do was play to his strengths, and not lose out in those! Her quirk introduction was- "I'm sorry, but, before that- What is your quirk?" Haruto would ask the panicked girl. She was explaining what it could do, but... Even so, Haruto wasn't sure how she could do those things. "Well, in the first place, I don't think we should expect combat- Most people who orient themselves toward combat would have signed up for the battle event, I imagine. Both our teams should have a skillset aimed at rescue operations... Well, it'll be good to be prepared anyways, since there could always be a surprise. But in the first place, the theme of this event is rescue, so I doubt we'll be graded on our fighting skills as highly."
Looking at his teammates, Haruto couldn't but mutter, "I feel underdressed." Kaito and Amanda were wearing gym uniforms that were similar to his own, but both Chikako and Arisu were decked out in full hero garb- And he suspected that the same was true on the blue team. But now wasn't the time to mourn his own lack of preparedness. Their time was limited, and it was important to do what planning they could. Fortunately, he wasn't the only one who felt so- Arisu had stepped directly from her introduction into an overview of the plan.
"I agree, especially after hearing everyone's introduction, I think avoiding combat is the ideal scenario. As I said, this is a rescue mission- Fighting's already covered by the Cross-School Competition. It would be redundant for two events to hinge on team battles. Most likely, the intention is for battles to occur, here" Haruto drew a line on the map with his finger, connecting the two evacuation points. "Both teams have to spend quite some time at this point- Namely, when recovering the hostages, and when moving from our near rescue site to the far one. As long as we are prepared for a fight when crossing that line, we should be safe."
However, when Arisu brought up her second plan, a large frown grew on Haruto's face. "No, I cannot go along with that. For many reasons. Firstly, based on the rules, we only have a limited time to work with. We just don't have time to aim for three areas- And do you really think the judges would award us for sacrificing our targets to sabotage our opponents? As you said, it's unsportsmanlike- And furthermore, this is just my personal sense of justice but... Even if it was fine within the rules, I wouldn't want to do it. I want our opponents to be able to show off their skills the way I want to show off mine- Even if that would hamper my chances of winning!"
"Now, here's some thoughts from my prior experience in rescue operations. One. Not all of the targets will be in equal danger. Some might even be dying as we speak, as I do not know exactly what dangers were set up. It's not like the dummies at point B will wait for us to clear out point C fully- We'll have to split up. Second, not everyone is suited for everything- As I explained, my quirk allows me a good level of strength, however I cannot maintain that strength for long without damaging my body- And on top of that, my body itself is relatively weak. As such, I can clear rubble well, but as for carrying the dummies themselves to the rescue point, I would be practically useless. And of course, there's always the risk of coming across the blue team."
"With that said, here's my plan. We divide into three groups- A rescue group, whose job is to make sure that none of the dummies are in immediate danger. Performing first aid, removing rubble, and the like. We would then have a removal team, whose duties are to transport the dummies to the evacuation point. And finally, there would be an escort team- Whose purpose would be to go along with either of the other two teams whenever they may encounter the blue team. Well, I say teams, but since there's only five of us, one would have to go solo. Anyways, from there- First, all five of us would move to point C. There, the rescue team would work to save any dummies in immediate danger, while the escort team brings the removal team to the evac point. Once the rescue team is finished, the escort team would bring the rescue team to point B, where they would continue their work, and then return to the removal team to help them finish point C. Once point C is empty, they would join up at point B, and we would begin to move as 5 from there."
"From here on, is just some speculation from me based on what I know of your powers. I could be incredibly off, so please, feel free to correct me when I am wrong. First, Chikako. As the only one of us with an admittedly combat capable quirk, I'm afraid I would have to ask you to perform the hardest part- Escorting. The rescue team, I believe myself and Amanda will be most suitable, based on my understanding of our powers. Arisu, as you're quirk is able to perform all three roles by my understanding, I would have you flex between the removal team and escort team as needed. And Kaito, although I understand your abilities the least of all of us, I believe you would be the best for the removal team."
However, Haruto was not the leader of this group as he was for the cooking club and support studies class. It was up to his teammates to decide if his words were reasonable, or to find fault with his logic.
Haruto's Abilities: Quirk: Purification - Removal of toxins, bacteria, etc. D rank. Mundane Abilities: Cooking Club President - Cooking. D rank. Abilities: First Aid - Healing. F-rank. Impure Being - Able to manipulate the black blood cells generated by Purification to supplement strength. E rank. Impure Guard - Durability of said black blood cells. F-rank
Post summary: Haruto is happy to hear he does not have to struggle to speak English. Asks what Amanda's quirk is. Haruto feels underdressed compared to hero uniforms of certain teammates. Haruto agrees that combat should be secondary to rescue. Refuses to try to beat blue team to blue team's rescue area for logical and emotional reasons. Haruto suggests his own plan of action, which is perhaps overly detailed and thus you should read in the post itself, however is more than open to alternative plans.

--- ARISU --- -better than watching paint dry- Arisu was left blinking when Chikako arrived- the other girl was dressed in something simultaneously far more elegant and far more risque than she'd expected to see on another high school student. Still, it wasn't outright lewd or anything, so she simply smiled brightly and waved to the others to follow her as she started to lead the way in based on what she'd seen on the map, heading for point C as directly as possible- the other team had a very direct path to their first objective and she wanted to get to theirs as promptly as possibly, lest they lose time navigating. She was confident with the abilities spread among their group, they could get to the first disaster easily enough if they worked together. As Amanda excused her Japanese, Arisu looked back in surprise. "You speak excellent Japanese, Amanda! Please be at ease, we're in your care." She offered her own little bow in return! "And do I have it right that your quirk is... empathic? Something like that, if you can improve our moods or stabilize panicked victims?" Kaito had her attention next, as he gave a little insight into his abilities. "Gotcha, Kaito- stretching! That's useful, my friend Shiko does something similar. We might need to rely on you if she uses that skill to snatch a dummy or something. Which reminds me- I know most of their quirks. Emi can control and manipulate salt, and she knows my quirk too, at least. Hye-Rin can create various plants, though I'm not entirely sure what she can do with them, and Shiko can unfold like the world's coolest origami person. Also, she doesn't really feel blunt impacts, so don't feel bad if you have to thump her to get her out of the way, she'll really be alright."Her confidence and attempts to keep them organize suffered under Haruto's response. It was... strongly worded, and left her feeling like she was looking for ways to cheat. Internally, she was quailing hard, but outwardly, she did her best to smile and nod. "I think I like your assessment. I was more worried we'd be held responsible for NOT saving their targets than specifically aiming to sabotage them, but I see your point. I'm- a little cynical. I'm usually looking for a catch, even when there isn't one."The medic proceeded to offer his ideas for a strategy as they neared the first rescue site- C- and she offered her own thoughts in return. "I don't think we can assume that they won't have anyone suited for battle entirely, Haruto-san. Emi, at least, is pretty skilled and relatively well prepared, from what I remember from our discussions- but I one hundred percent concur that avoiding battle is best. We may want to take a headcount of the dummies present for rescue and decide if it will be best to do a shuttle system to deliver them and return, or to save as many as we can and transfer the whole lot. If we CAN, we might want to transport the lot at once, with our whole group on guard. Since they'll probably be taking the easy route to relay to the waterfront exit, if we focus all our efforts on rescue and then transport, I think we should be able to drop off out of synch with them and cross to the other side of the field before they finish and avoid conflict entirely- if transporting the whole group at once is feasible at all. Otherwise, like you said, we'll just have to use the waterfront exit and hope our luck holds during drop-offs."Speaking of which, she glanced towards Chikako a moment and pondered. "Hm... If you're alright with it, Chikako, I happen to agree with Haruto- I think we can use Tenbi to end fights without anyone getting hurt. If we do come under attack, if you intercept their attacks at range, Chikako, you could use Tenbi to scare them into falling back instead of fighting if we stay near your... uh, despawn range. I can grab you and jump away to rapidly despawn him if necessary- we don't need anyone getting injured, but it sounds startling and threatening, and that might be just what we need to keep them from trying to press us into combat in a pinch. Way better than actually having to hurt someone, don't you think?"The last few moments of the approach, she spent quiet and listening- to her teammates and their surroundings, trying to get in the right mindset to locate any injured civilians as quickly as possible as her crew came up on the rescue site. -blinks at Chikako's outfit which is simultaneously way more elegant AND way more risque than she'd expect on a teenager. --makes a point of starting to jog towards the first area while speaking, coaxing the others to join her to listen, lest they waste time and lose points by not making the best use of that resource -"You speak excellent Japanese, Amanda! Please be at ease, we're in your care." Little bow! "And do I have it right that your quirk is... empathic? Something like that, if you can improve our moods or stabilize panicked victims?" -"Gotcha, Kaito- stretching! That's useful, my friend Shiko does something similar. We might need to rely on you if she uses that skill to snatch a dummy or something." -expressed worry about being responsible for NOT saving enemy targets but agreement that avoiding fights was tops -recommended trying to gauge if they thought they could move all the civs at once to avoid repeated possible run-ins at the turn-in spot and to save time, allowing them to focus on rescue then evac instead of constantly splitting between both -concurred that Chikako could be great on escort, possibly using Tenbi to scare off attackers without a fight by intercepting any attacks at range WORD COUNT: 1000 TEMPLATE BY ELIZA @ BOTE & THQ

Chikako waited patiently for them to stop talking, absorbing only a portion of what they two discussed and mostly filling the in between with whatever nonsense she felt might have been said in between. Her eyes flipped back from the two chatterbugs, she would be lying that the more they talked the more annoyed she got. Not at them however, more at herself. The largest the speech the harder it was for chikako to pick up and piece together. When Arisu stopped talking, she waited a few seconds to make sure she had nothing following up, And as she followed finnally spoke. "I am sorry, I do not understand alot of what you guys are saying; more my ears don' always...work? So excuse me if I assuming wrongly from what I did hear. Naruto wants escort service and the other wants to move as a team? I am not in much room to talk, but I think we should do the escort one. That way the second team and go to the next area and recover any high-priority rescues that mighr have died if we did not branch off. I know it's not the safest, but why did you consider becoming a hero if you wanted safety? I doubt we will get extra points for being 'safe' in that regard. ", She gave her two cents. She did not have a choice, her parents sent her there; but these kids wanted to be a hero so should they not know that?
"I know this is not the real thing, but we are being graded as if it was a real thing. Your friends? Emi? They are villians. It might be cheating in some retrospect but what hero let villians get away if they see them kidnapping hostages?", she asked them. She was a model, so If she was going to put on a show she wanted to put on a show the right way. She looked at the area coming into view a little. "Well, I do not mind fighting a bit if so have too", she said. A bit disappointed as she tried to do this event to avoid fighting, but at the end of the day you got to do what you got to do.
Summary: Chikako gave her thoughts. She thinks haruto is right and risks are needed to be taken in these kind of things. Mostly, she feels they should treat this as real as possible. Emi and the opposing squads are all villians, it' only the right thing to do is save hostages. She agrees to be the escort in haruto's plan and to tussle if needed

“IF all your going to do is talk…” Kaito had started to stretch when the egghead had began his speal, getting limber as he took a runners pose. Before they went for another round of conversation he was off. Like a spring coiled tight he leapt through the air as fast as he could and started to make his way towards objective C. It was the closest objective and he knew he could get there quickly.
‘I am not just going to sit around and wait while they chatter.’ He thought to himself as he bounded across the mostly empty area between their starting point and C. Regardless of the roughed up terrain he made quick progress and managed to make it to the first set of building in only a handful of leaps and bounds
For the classmates watching him it would look alot like a spring coiling and uncoiling as he stretched and compressed himself rapidly, launching himself quickly in giant steps. As he landed near the first building he took a second to compose himself before jumping once mere as he stretches out his left arm to grab the roof of one of the first buildings.
Using the momentum from his leap he held tight to the lip on the edge of the building and let his body sail through the air like a pendulum. He used this tactic a few more times, springing, slinging, then landing just to spring again, until he made his way over to Objective C. As he finally landed for the last time he used his quirk to make himself into a giant springy shock absorber to keep from splattering across the pavement from the momentum he had gained.

One by one Momonji listened to each of his team mates introduce themselves. With a tiny twitch of his brow, he listened and internally sized up how they could each best fit together. Leadership was definitely not his strong suit, neither was serving as team morale, though thankfully it seemed he could be spared each of these tasks. He was glad to hear each outspoken idea, though it was a mystery whether it showed on his face. Responding to the charge Emo seemed to take, he followed up with his own understanding of the scenario "My quirk winches can pack a lot of power, but I have to anchor myself if I plan to lift anything that weighs more than me and don't plan of being sent flying. I can help with evacuating targets though as I don't need my arms to work my quirk." Listening to her elaborate further and make a case for prioritizing Point A, he gave a small nod. There was merit to this plan, but the group needed to be united, there was no room to change the plan mid way. As the conversation shifted to defending and the risk of combat, his eyes focussed upon hearing a suggestion. Looking upright he weighed in again. He was by no means a fighter, but that didn't mean he had nothing to contribute. "My wires can't do much damage on their own, but we don't need to fight the other team, just stop them from progressing, I figure." Looking back to Emi, he elaborated. "If I had to put it into better terms... consider me good for crowd control, snares binds and whipping come pretty naturally to me, though that means I may need to leave evacuation to someone else." Everyone's input was valid, though they needed to act before any more time was wasted. Slapping his cheeks, Momonji made an executive decision, turning to face the direction of Point A. "I'm heading to Point A, not to flex but my quirk affords me a certain level of versatility. Instead of getting hung up on where we fit best, I think we gotta trust in our training so far, time to live up to the Hero Course name." He punctuated this point with a grin and offered the others a cheesy thumbs up. "I sorta doubt the targets are going to be just sitting there waiting to be claimed, otherwise this would be called an escort course and not a rescue mission. Emi's plan sounds solid, so I'm going to follow her lead. Either we move as a group of five, or split off into two and three... but no going Solo, the buddy system saves lives." Rolling his shoulder he started moving to his destination, having made his decision to engage Point A. His pace accelerated to to a jog, then to a run as he entered the fray.
Summary: - Momonji is glad everyone is contributing, he can lift heavy things, but needs to be anchored to do so.
- Momonji volunteers to serve as crowd control if needed, hopefully it would not be needed.
- Momonji shares his plan of attack and heads to Point A, hoping at least one other person follows up.
