There was a lot of expectations leading to that moment.
Hye-Rin had wanted for little in life, being taught from her father that wishing for more than she can carry on her own is greedy. So, being content with what she had for so long, it was definitely a change to come to U.A. There were people much more power-hungry and determined that she was, and it left her feeling a bit downtrodden when the realization hit her.
How could she be a hero if she couldn't protect herself?
All the Korean had was her Quirk, and that couldn't even be used in combat. Sure, the hours she spent every Wednesday with her martial arts instructor kept telling her she was improving, but there was no way to tell. Hopelessness is all she felt, and it was this that drove her to the obstacle course to train for the Sports Festival.
The flower pot had thought she was alone, and went through the first part of the course thinking it so. When it came to the second part of the course- a twenty foot rock wall that you had to climb over to advance- the whole idea of heroism was becoming a bit daunting. She signed up to protect people, not scale a wall!
Still, she did it anyway. One limb after the other, she'd hoist herself up out of the will to develop as a student of U.A., beads of sweat forming on her brow and forehead,"How do they... expect students... to do this?" A complaint would leave her lips as she persevered, the gas in her tank running on empty when she finally made it to the top to take a seat. Throwing it over to the other side, she'd rest there for a while to catch her breath. Heights had never frightened her, so sitting atop somewhere so high was fine in her book. It wasn't until she attempted the trip down that she faced problems.
While trying to position herself on the wall better to climb down, her foot had gotten stuck on it's path to the other side of the wall. It sent the poor girl, who didn't expect to injure herself that badly, flying from the rock wall and straight to the ground underneath her.
Though she'd hoped for her arms to take the brunt of the damage, which they did take a bit, it was her forehead that hit the floor with a loud THUD. A jolt of pain immediately surged through her head and sent a wave of chills through her whole body as she rolled onto her back, clutching her head,"Not good-" She managed to get out, before sitting up to hold her head in between her knees. Her Quirk should have kicked on it's own in by now, but the buds remained as they were. The fuzziness in her head would be the culprit, but she couldn't bother to notice with the amount of pain she was in. It was a headache on steroids, and her head was throbbing.
She hadn't even noticed the blood until she brought a hand away from her head, droplets falling onto the space in between her legs. Her hand was covered in the stuff, but one hand suddenly turned into three as her vision started acting funny.
"Help-" Her voice was rough and cracked, a hole beginning to grow in her stomach as the realization hit her- no one was coming. It was her punishment for coming to train alone, and that would be the last punishment she would feel. Along with, of course, the excruciating pain that was all she could feel.
And so, she sat, slowly accepting how stupid she was for thinking that someone like her could be a hero.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Rin was out inspecting the grounds, trying to stitch somewhat of a lesson plan together. Both Yoruhi-kun and Ryuusei-kun were going to participate in the rescue competition between the schools. Both of them seemed fairly competent in the aspect of talking to wounded civillians and establishing a perimeter where things were going to feel safe and comfortable. What they both seemed to struggle with, however, was rescue situations that were a little more delicate. If they had to go to a remote location that was difficult to reach, treat a victim under such scenarios, while also making sure they got back to the remaining rescue personnel safely, Rin was a little less optimistic. Quite frankly, moving around someone who was wounded was almost never a good idea. Damage to spine, neck, head could easily get worse if there wasn't a complete understanding of the injuries said people were suffering with. Even then, should the victim be pierced by debris, like a loose pipe, wrong movements could cause the wounds to open up further. One of the main blood vessels, even if it was merely in the leg, could cause a person to bleed out in a matter of minutes. Rin being who she was, with the quirk she had, could do a whole lot of these do nots. If they needed an affixed position, Rin could harden her blood around the victim to the point where, to suffer damage, they'd need to have a fall that'd snap iron. Since her blood could be given to anyone, at any time, transfusions that closed the bleedings could also be applied on the spot. In shoirt, several things of the simple first-aid-rescue formulae didn't apply to the raven haired class president. Something that she may have never appreciated or even acknowledged. At least not until now. While scoping up the area for potential training methods, Rin's sapphire blue eyes landed on another girl at the obstacle course. Seeing others out there practicing, giving both some physical and mental effort for the days and competitions to come, forced a soft smile onto her lips. Rin had heard rumors of the other schools. That winning to them wasn't a question of pride for their own school and what they had learned, but more so an expectation placed onto them by arrogant teachers. Rin wanted to win this little competition with the other schools, not because the teachers thought it was a good idea. It was because Rin was prideful of practicing at Yuuei. It was because the friends around her, and the lessons they shared, had made her a better hero and a better person. It was these lessons, this comraderie, that she valued as the number one in the world. If they needed to prove it, then so it would have to be. Prove it not to anyone else, but prove it to themselves. Taking a deep, deep breath, Rin startled at a strange sound. Looking around, she hadn't been paying attention for a short few moments. The girl on the obstacle course had disappeared. What was that sound? It had sounded a bit like a sack of potatoes falling from a bit too high. There hadn't been any screaming of pain, or crying, or deeper call for help. So perhaps something had just fallen over?Curious, the raven haired female began investigating. Where the other girl had struggled to move forwards, Rin was fast and agile. Jumping from wall to wall, some would argue that the obstacle in obstacle-course wasn't really felt. Landing on the top, where the other girl had been a few moments before, Rin crouched down like a feline. Looking around, it only took her a moment to realize what had happened. The other girl had plummeted down, perhaps slipping on something. The other girl seemed conscious, if extremely blurred in the head. "Hang on, I'll be right there. Try not to move." Rin spoke in a calm voice, sliding down the wall to situate herself besides the fallen Hye-Rin. The other girl wasn't one whom she had encountered in any of the heroic classes. It left out a few possibilities. Either, this girl belonged to the support studies, or she had freshly transferred in. Perhaps a combination of both. For this outing, Rin was wearing her usual getup. The simple Yuuei tracksuit in it's simple black, blue and white design. Around her waist, she carried her utility belt. Inside, she had various medical equipment on her, which she carried wherever she went. Scalpels, bandages, various medicines and antidotes bases for common poisons and ailments. You just never know, right? First order of businesss, maintaining consciousness and determining the damage. So, while inspecting the other girl, Rin spoke in a quiet and calm tone, her voice easy to hear and follow. "Do you know where you are, what time of day it is?... What's your name?" Judging by the bleeding on her forehead, this girl had hit her head quite hard. It wasn't possible to rule out a concussion. Rin would also like to clean the blood away to see whether there could potentially be any kind of skull fracture. Still, continuing to talk and reassure the other girl, hopefully the situation was under complete control. "Worry not. My name is Rin Kurama. I'm one of the best nurses you could come across at Yuuei. You're in good hands, I promise." Shifting in and out of the light from the sky behind her, observing Hye-Rin's pupils dilate, Rin bit her lip. This seemed like it would, at minimum, be a concussion. Something much worse might be brewing underneath, but until she was certain what she was dealing with, going too far forwards was ill adviced. A soft piece of cloth, sprinkled in ethanol, was brought forth to gently dub Hye's forehead. It'd likely sting ever so slightly...

The Korean didn't have the energy to panic. As she sat there accepting her fate, all that Hye-Rin could think about was the splitting pain that bounced around her head. The cut that was laid across her forehead wasn't what was bringing her such grief, but something else she was much more afraid of. External damage was fine, but internal damage is when it gets tricky.
Staring at her hand that began to split and triple into three and then at the space between her legs that the blood dripped onto, Hye-Rin was too distracted to hear the initial call of the student that perched at the top of the wall. It wasn't until she was just beside her and asking questions that the Korean looked up at her with vacant amber eyes, as if she was somewhere else entirely,"I can't... remember." The usual cheerful smile that curved her lips so genuinely had washed off her face along with the droplets of blood that hit the ground, showing little more than an empty-headed look at the blackette,"Hye-Rin. Kang Hye-rin." All of the memory she had of the last few minutes had left her head, recalling only her name. It was... odd. Like a word that was at the tip of her tongue. Why had she come here?
As she continued to watch the girl with a frail hand glued to her forehead, she couldn't help but blink dreamily at her. There was no way someone so beautiful could have existed on the surface world... right? "Are you... an angel? Did I die?" Her head was all sorts of fuzzy with the details, but it seemed it was the conclusion that made the most sense. Hye-Rin was a devout Christian, and her heart leapt at the idea of being let into the pearly white gates up above. For a second, the realization even made her forget about the near crippling pain that wouldn't cease in her head.
"Rin... Rin Kurama." The words felt like velvet as she spoke the angel's name aloud, smiling like a concussed fool at it,"Good hands... that's good." She'd try to stay as stable as she could as the girl ran the pupil test she needed, but the Korean was a bit wobbly. If it wasn't for there being any nice place to rest, she would've taken a nap at this point. Her eyelids would begin to droop closed until her hand was moved, followed by a sharp sting with a cold cloth. It would shock the girl back awake with a jolt, and she looked back into Rin's violet eyes with a dreamy fondness. Most of it was the head injury, but she couldn't help but think the girl was truly sent from above.
Smiling to herself, Hye-Rin would continue to do what she always did- gush about someone else even though it was herself that was literally gushing,"Saito-kun will scold me for being careless, I think." The headache on steroids had faded a bit, but the fatigue and mental fuzziness would not,"I'll have to wait a long time to hear it, though, since I'm going to Heaven and all that." A sadness was brought to her smile as the thought of not seeing the silver-haired boy for that long rippled through her mind.
Hye-Rin truly was hopeless, and it would take much more than a visit to the nurse's office to fix that part of her.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Evaluating the psyche of a girl that may suffer from concussion, would've been a lot easier if Rin actually knew what kind of person Hye-Rin was. Being called an angel from someone that wasn't doing too well... it wasn't the first time it had happened. In fact, it was what inspired her hero name, The Crimson Angel. Breathing calmly, Rin sent Hye-Rin the softest of smiles, as she continued to explain that the other girl wasn't going to die. "Heaven will have to wait dear. I'm sure you'll be going there, some day, but that won't be for a while yet." The condition for the girl seemed relatively constant. That was a good sign, honestly. If there was some bleeding inside, like from a fractured skull, her attention and repsonses would've been inconsistent. Likewise, the reaction to pain was a solid sign. A solid enough sign that Rin judged it adequate to begin moving Hye-Rin indoors. The blood slowly seeped underneath Hye-Rin, gently rounding around her body and keeping her neck in place. Then, it hardened like a stretcher. Rin's quirk was excellent for rescue situations. It was one of the things she had practiced the most, and being a medic, this was where she excelled. "I'm going to lift you, so we can get you indoors. Into the warmth." Rin explained, while forming the little stretcher out of her own blood. "Can you tell me who you are?" The first question was a simple one. Any kind of coherent response would be a good sign, really. Any more rambling about heaven and.. Saito..? Shaking her head, pondering their relationship wasn't relevant for the moment.Rin then used her quirk to lift Hye-Rin off of the ground, floating her on the stretched, carrying her steadily towards the school. Rin had access to the infirmary, so getting Hye-Rin there and calling the nurse for assistance would be the most likely course of action. It didn't seem like Hye-Rin needed immediate critical attention, so keeping it calm would likely be to the benefit of everyone involved. Continuing to keep Hye-Rin lucid, Rin just asked simple questions. Keeping a patient calm and grounded was another important aspect of being a medic. "Which class are you in?.. I don't remember seeing you around much." Granted, recently there hadn't been many classes. First the Semper Fi incident, then the Christmas Vacation and now the sports festival. A lot of stuff was happening outside classes, and it quite honestly felt like a frantic time to be a student. It'd be real embarassing if Hye-Rin was somehow in her own class, and Rin hadn't paid proper attention to the new students coming in, during these stressful times. The door was opened, and they entered inside. Waving off other students and shaking her head, they weren't going to be interrupted. Most seemed to understand that it wasn't critical, but that Hye-Rin would need some rest. It likely wouldn't take long for the chatroom to blow up with messages, speculating as to what had happened. "I'm going to find you a nice, soft, warm bed to lie in, okay?... Then we'll have a proper look at you and make sure you didn't knock something loose in there." Rin spoke, letting Hye-Rin know exactly what was going on. Communicating every step of the way, meant that the patient wouldn't be wondering what was happening to them. Everything was telegraphed before it happened. Likewise, Rin spoke in the same playful, chipper tone that Hye-Rin was speaking in, even throwing in a soft joke. Being relatable, sweet, kind. Trying to make Hye-Rin feel like she had nothing to worry about. In addition, the questions she asked were also open ended. If Hye-Rin felt the need to explain more than the very basics, or in general just wanted to talk, Rin would let her, dedicating most of her time to simply listening and understanding her patient. As they entered the infirmary, Rin sighed softly. Nimue-sensei wasn't in at the moment. Perhaps someone else was having an incident. It was extremely likely, with how the sports festival encouraged dedicated training and already spoke of having students challenging each other to vie for the number one hero school in the world. Going through the main office, Rin soon had Hye-Rin in bed, by the window, inside the infirmary proper. Tucked down under the duvet and with her head raised onto the pillow. Hopefully this would regain her some warmth. "...You feeling comfortable?" Rin asked, as she inspected Hye-Rin. There were a few options available to her, if the situation should worsen. For now, Rin judged that keeping a simple eye on the girl would be good enough. Pulling up a chair, Rin sat down by the window, keeping a gentle look onto Hye-Rin.
