Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
It was yet another day of the Sports Festival, which meant that it was one day closer to the the final events that would close out the festivities. In Ryuusei's case, the event in which he would partake was going to be the Rescue one. He had been keeping his body in check. Already fully recovered from the operation that left him at home for almost two months and hooked on pain killers for that amount of time, Ryuu had been training alone in order to regain form: his body felt almost like new and he was in top shape, even if he had lost a little weight. However, his lone training - a way of preventing any unnecessary damage leading to the big stage - prevented him of doing any practical drills meant to emulate what could happen during the rescue scenarios he would be presented with. For this reason, he decided to ask for Rin's help for his first - and probably last - practical training before the end of the festival. Well, it was more Rinkusu that offered herself... but that was besides the point. Following a brief exchange via text message, the girl whom Ryuusei considered to be his closest friend alongside Yoruhi simply told him to be at Rescue Course early in the morning. And so, there Ryuusei was - even earlier than the mention time, as always. He was wearing the traditional Yuuei Training Outfit: blue, white and red, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Sitting on the ground, he awaited for Rin's arrival. I wonder what she has planned, he asked himself. Notes: Early, like always!Words: 270.Tags: Rin Kurama

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy So, two individuals had made the choice to participate in the rescue competition. Rin was not exactly sure how the schools had decided to make a competition out of rescuing, but she had fully dedicated her mind and resources, doing everything within her own powers to ensure, that Yuuei would become victorious in the overall standings. The Raven haired female was almost certainly going to participate in the rescue event, though if her schoolmates decided they needed more assistance in other categories, Rin wasn't opposed to moving elsewhere. According to the few she had spoken to at this point, Rin would've been welcome in almost any of the camps. Flexibility, hard work and a sharp mind. Something that had earned her more favor than she had honestly expected to have. It was getting more and more difficult for Rin to be negative regarding herself and her abilities. Something that had been building a change within her for quite a while. A shred of confidence in her own self. In the standard Yuuei trek-suit, with a blue jacket added over to keep herself warm, the raven haired female was armed to the teeth. A whistle was in her pocket, intended to be used for signalling purposes. Under one arm, she carried a practice dummy, intended for general first aid. Bandaging, CPR, rescue positions and other treatment. Headed for the obstacle course, Rin had essentially arranged for the little squad to have an area of the field to themselves for a bit. They'd be practicing basic rescue techniques. First on the ground, to learn what was neccessary to save a life. Secondly, they'd be forced to move to strange locations, utilizing their acquired techniques in strange new places. The ravenblack hair still maintained a singular red, crimson streak, from her time as Scarlett during the opening ceremony. Surprisingly enough, it seemed that very few had bridged the connection. Not that Rin was lying if anyone were to ask her. The girl had simply chosen not to over share. If people were suspicious or interested, that'd be fair game. Explaining to everyone how she had gotten into the music industry however, or even worse, why she hadn't openly made a big deal out of it, wasn't something she was all too interested in. Raising a hand into the air, Rin waved at Ryuusei-kun as she approached. This strange boy, who within him held capacities. Capacities for love, compassion, kindness and heroism. Yet, if Rin were to guess, also capacities for apathy, sociopathy and villainy. Ryuusei-kun was a boy who had needed saving. Who had needed a place in the world where he could belong. That, and because he had always been there when Rin had needed assistance, was why he belonged in the little dysfunctional family that Rin had created. Ryuusei, Jasmine, Yoruhi, Naoru, Kanna and of course Haru. A dysfunctional and odd family. A family with nothing but big hearts. "Ryuu-kun! Good morning. I hope you're prepared. Prepared to work your butt off saving lives." Reaching into her pocket and drawing forth the whistle, she quietly hung it around her own neck, lifting her hair up to make it settle into place comfortably. Letting out a sharp whistle, just to ensure that it functioned properly, Rin's eyes changed. From their kind, warm, soft gaze, now instead there was a firmness to them. An expectation that he would listen and learn. An expectation and understanding that, if he wasted her time, he'd be told off for doing so... Even though it was obvious that Rin was trying to emulate a teacher or a drill seargent, to make Ryuusei understand how important this kind of practice was to her, if they were to be on the same team during the rescue operations, Rin had a somewhat soft and caring demeanor about her still. "We're awaiting the arrival of Yoruhi-san. Once he is here, we'll be going through the general exercises to ensure an understanding of basic first aid. Afterwards, we'll be employing those techniques during a rescue situation. You'll be climbing, you'll be jumping, you'll be securing victims in strange locations and ensuring their safe return to professional nurses and doctors. There will be no slacking off."There was a soft, confident smile on Rin's lips. A girl that had seen the mud of the world, and been dragged through it. A girl that had little reason to have faith in anything, standing there, letting him know that she was still working hard towards her dream. A dream that hadn't budged, bent or been tainted by her experiences. "If you have any questions, please address me now. Once we begin, there'll be little time to dillydally. I hope we can use the grounds for this exercise for at least a couple of hours. So, I brought lunch, in case you or Yoruhi-san get hungry. If you need to visit the bathroom, please do so now." Yup, fully expecting them to excuse themselves if the going got rough, whether it was to visit the bathroom or to have a meal, Rin was clearly having none of it. Somewhere, it was obvious to see why. It wasn't because Rin was on some kind of mission or quest. It wasn't because she desired to lord over them. No, Rin was simply proud. Proud that there was something she could teach, to two of the most important students at Yuuei. To two of her very best friends.

I see you through the flood See you through the fire See you through the storms-a-raging
❧ It was time to have fun!
Or, to be more precise, it was time to work his ass off in practicing for the rescue event, but since he was doing it with two of his favorite people in the world, Yoru expected it to be fun by default.
Rin was the one who contacted him originally. She asked if he was interested in a little practice and by saying yes right away, he was told to show up at the specific training ground. She didn’t tell him much about what she planned, but he knew he will at least completely fail the first-aid part of the practice. He would still try though, and who knows, maybe he had some hidden skill in actually helping others out, he was just innocently unaware of it until now. As soon as he learned that Ryuusei will be around, his interest doubled. With his best friend at the site, he knew he will be much more motivated and energized. Not that he wasn’t already fired up for the next few hours to come. Thank god for his inner energy source still burning like an eternal flame.
Dressing in the standard Yuuei gym uniform, blue, red and white, Yoru was ready to head out without preparing anything else further. He left his usual accessories in the dorm room, dully noting that the track suit has no belt loop to hang his chains on. Necklaces and bracelets would just be in the way as well. He could imagine Rin would force him to remove them with an elegant raise of her eyebrow anyway, so he spared her of the trouble instead. His Yuuei sweater was opened, revealing the simple black sweatshirt under. His sleeves and his pants legs were all rolled up to the joints. The still chilly air was not bothering him at all, and using his quirk was always a bit easier when he had his skin uncovered. If he didn’t want to burn his clothes off, that is.
While running toward his destination, he heard the soft sound of a whistle somewhere, and he could imagine their little coach ordering them around with one around her neck. Although he wasn’t exactly late, per say, he was dealing with two over enthusiastic perfectionists who were always early. So even though he arrived just in time for the arranged meeting, these friggin’ two were already there. He didn’t slow down his run to gracefully jog up and then walk to them, instead skidded to a halt somewhere behind Ryuusei, waving his hello to his classmates.
“Yo.” He raised his hand automatically to give Ryuusei a brofist as a greeting, and couldn’t help the toothy smile that appeared on him. With his scowl, he almost seemed mischievous. “You two are early.” Missing most of the words Rin told Ryuusei at the start, even the last few sentences were enough to know that Rin will be a strict teacher. Good. He would feel like being lazy otherwise. “What do you have in store for us?”

Dreams breathe life into men. The stars... I'll reach them.
He did not have to wait much longer for Rinkusu's arrival - afterall, the girl with whom he had formerly been in love with also had a habit of being in time to any kind of meeting. She was also wearing the U.A. Academy Sports Jumpsuit that every student of the school own, adding to it a blue jacket of her own closet. The small girl also carried a dummy with her, which immediately caught Ryuu's attention. Oh no... he told himself, anticipating that Rinkusu was ready to activate her "taking things seriously" mode. That mode was frightening. Ryuu did not like that mode. As she waved, her words were the needed confirmation of Ryuusei's fear. And, if that wasn't enough, Rinkusu made sure that Ryuusei understood by showing the whistle she brought with her and placing it around her own neck. Hello, Rin-chan. And, uhm, y-yeah, I guess I am...As she approached, Ryuusei notice some strands of red hair contrasting with the natural black colour. However, before he had a chance to ask about it, Rin's eyes change: the serious mode was activated and there was no turning back. It was cute, but scary: it was scary cute. Uncosciously, Ryuusei's body got reminded of the military training and, despite being sat down, he immediately straightened his back once Rinkusu spoke again. No questions and no bathroom break needed, ma'am! he spoke, giving her a salute in a unintentionally cute and boucing way. The stance was only broken when Yoruhi arrived. Remaining on the floor, Ryuusei extended his arm in order to meet Yoru's brofist, all while voicing a "Yo" back to him. His voice seemed determined. Oh god, what a nightmare... Don't tell me he also is excited for this... Ryuusei thought. With only Rin or Yoruhi he could afford to at least slack off in the beginning, putting only some effort when it really was needed. But with both of them at the same time... Yeah, he was going to sweat and have to work his ass off. Yes, what's first? he repeated Yoru's question a little differently. WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy As Yoruhi-kun arrived on the scene as well, Rin's somewhat demanding and commanding pressence dwindled for a few moments, in favor of giving him the warmest possible greeting. "Yoruhi-kun! Good to see you could make it!" Rin beamed at him for a short moment, as the other boy found himself situated properly. Coughing into her hand and clearing her throat, Rin attempted to reclaim her commanding pressence. It likely wouldn't have been even half as weird, if the raven haired female was capable of staying in character, rather than so easily giving up command if someone else was to step up and overpower her. They'd both probably have the sensation that, if they received a command from her, simply replying with a no, do it yourself. would've shut her down on the spot. Still, currently undeterred, Rin reached into the bags of training equipment. There was far too much equipment for them to carry around if they were going to be rescuing a person from someplace that couldn't be easily reached. There was, however, a very good reason for this. Rin gestured to the small pile of stuff. Bandages, tools, stretcher, all sorts of stuff for rescue purposes. "Here's all the things you need to utilize for a general rescue. Naturally, there's far too much to haul around between just two people. Alas, you are but two people."Gesturing to the obstacle course now, allowing them to easily follow what her sapphire blue eyes were watching. "I'm going to climb to someplace not great, and pretend to be a wounded victim. Your objective will be to treat the wounds you'd have to treat, so that I can be brought back safely to the rescue area camp." It sounded simple enough when put like that. Actually, Rin was quite proud of herself. This explanation plus the purpose of it seemed really clean and crisp. They knew what they had to do, where to do it, potentially even how to do it. That is when Rin realized, she hadn't actually explained where their camp was. Hurriedly, Rin added to the end of her last sentence. "T-that's where we are right now. This is the camp. This is the goal line." Phew! Now, everything was explained properly, without even remotely looking like a derp in the process! Biting her own lip, Rin wasn't quite sure it was precise enough. On the other hand, she didn't want to specify too much. They were allowed to think a little for themselves too. Thus, Rin simply went ahead with the exercise. "I've made small descriptions of my condition... as in what you'd notice, in these plastic bags. So instead of observing me, simply read these. I imagined we'd go three to four times, to make sure you understand all the finesse required to make a flawless rescue! You may begin twenty seconds after I move."With that, the girl set off. Effortless, light, she seemed to practically float over the ground as she moved. Finding herself something like a watchtower, the only real way up was by utilizing the rope dangling from the center. That is, unless you had a way to leap to the top without having to deal with the rope at all. For Rin, climbing it was child's play. Lying down in the watchtower, she placed the plastic bag on her own chest.Victim complains about back and neck pain. Both legs are broken and the victim cannot stand to support themselves. There is visible signs of bleeding at the legs and thighs. Bandaging may be required. Meanwhile on her back, waiting for her two rescuers, Rin was looking up cute images on the internet. Kittens, cats, dogs. Giggling to herself, the raven haired female was having a blast of a time. Rescuing and obstacles were practically second nature to her at this point. If Yoruhi-kun had kept up with her, ever since their first interaction on the obstacle course, then he'd have very little trouble getting up there... To bring a victim with him down, though, might prove a bit steeper the challenge. The idea behind the practice was rather simple, in essence. They needed to cooperate to bring the equipment they needed for the situation they encountered. They needed to offer proper and appropriate treatment at the appropriate time.
If they brought the wrong equipment, they'd have to go between camp and victim multiple times. If they brought too much equipment, getting to the victim would be exhausting. If they both went to the victim immediately, rather than communicating properly with each other, a whole slew of complications could arise. As a medic, Rin knew precisely how difficult these situations could be. On her own, she had an entire toolkit within her quirk, which made many situations significantly easier. However, neither of the two boys had such luxury. At best, Rin figured Yoruhi-kun could cauterize a dangerous wound. Even then, a proper pressure bandage would probably be preferred.

I see you through the flood See you through the fire See you through the storms-a-raging
❧ Yoru swore he could actually see the resignation on Ryuu’s face once he arrived on the scene as well. Almost as if he realized he had no way out of a serious training anymore. He just grinned shortly, and nodded to Rin once both his best friends greeted him. He settled next to Ryuusei on the ground, listening as their trainer explained the point of their little exercise.
Rin seemed serious enough, but Yoru saw her the same as always. Instead of getting intimidated by the commanding act, he grew more and more excited. To him, Rin was always the same. The obstacle course they went through on their first days was a proof that she can give instructions without a problem, and was able to put on such a persona in seconds. Maybe that was why Yoru felt no pressure, unlike Ryuusei, who had his back straight like he swallowed a pole in whole.
Yoru regarded the equipment she provided them with his usual scowl. Being more battle-oriented himself, he could not see him carry around so many equipment needed for first aid. He prepared to fight against villains, but at the same time he realized he had to prepare himself for other situation. Tilting his head at the stretcher, he wondered if there were at all heroes who would carry these short of things with them twenty-four-seven. He decided no, there were not.
The objective was simple enough, and lucky to Rin, Yoru didn’t notice her almost-trip during the explanation. For him, it flowed well enough. He always knew she was able to give simple and clear instruction that even a blind person was able to follow. He huffed and nodded, showing that he understood what the point was, and would follow up. To a certain extent. He doubted he will be able to keep a straight face when dealing with an “injured” Rin, but that was up to later.
Once everything was explained, he watched Rin leap toward the obstacle course and up a watchtower like a fairy pulled by the wind. Getting to her will be a piece of cake, and he was sure Ryuu would have no trouble reaching the top either. “Okay, so.” He turned to his best friend, although still looking toward where Rin disappeared. “What now? I guess we can’t bring all this shit with us, but we don’t know what we need right from the get-go.” He looked at Ryuu, then at the equipment, then back. “I can go check on her and shout what we need or something.” Yoru was admittedly not good at strategy and thinking too much ahead, but he was instinctive and had at least enough common sense to know what would be needed and what could be avoided by working together. Because of that, he left the decision up to Ryuu, but gave his two cents concerning the situation. He picked up a set of bandages and twirled it around in his hand, thinking that it was at least small enough to bring with him either case.
“Uh, did you count the twenty seconds?”
Once their time was up and they were both ready, Yoru would follow Ryuusei’s ideas, either head through the obstacle course to reach their not so injured victim alone to give a status report, or would head there together with his best friend and equipment at the ready.

You don't need a dream or even a tomorrow Just live
Stuff. So. Many. Stuff. How could such a tiny and innocent looking girl be able to carry that amount of stuff. Only Rinkusu Kurama, of course. Afterall, her strenght was not only emotional, but also physical. She was quick to give the general instruction to Ryuusei and Yoruhi, explaining the situation in which they were supposed to act as rescuers. On paper, it was simple enough: they were to retrieve Rin from a high place. However, it was obvious that it wouldn't be that easy. She was rather quick to jump away to her position as she finished explaining herself, leaving the two best-friends to figure things out by themselves. They were both still sitting down, but Yoruhi was the first one to break the silence by asking how they should act. Ryuusei looked at the sky, growling out of a comic frustration. Ahhhh, if we mess this up she's going to pull our ears, he sighed. It was then that, probably noticing that Ryuu wasn't really that much into it, that Yoruhi proposed a method of action - him climbing first to see what's needed and then shouting to Ryuusei. Yoru was smart and Ryuusei knew that, so that was most likely going to be what he was going to suggest either way. Yeah, that's the way to go.Ryuusei would drag himself to the nearby material, crawling just like he was a cat - everything just to not stand up, of course. He emptied one of the bags, getting all the materials in front of him clear to the eyes. So, for immediate aid we'll probably need to stabilize her neck... at least that's something I always see rescuers do - he grabbed a neck brace and placed it on the bag. If Yoru gave a nod of approval Ryuu would close the bag with the neck brace inside of it. This with the small bandages you grabbed will probably be enough for now - he threw the bag at Yoru - It also isn't much, so it isn't that heavy for you to carry by yourself.Returning to his confortable sitting position, he would speak up again. I'll wait some minutes for your signal. If, for some reason, I don't hear anything I'll just grab what I think it's best and head over to your position.Yoruhi then asked about the twenty seconds. Ryuusei's answer was given with a full smile - a mischievous one, but still rare... thankfully no one else was looking. I think it's way past 20 seconds, so you better get going, Yo-ru-kour.For the time being, Ryuu still had an excuse to stay still. Notes: Still sitting, still winning! PS: I hope Yoruhi appreciates Ryuu's dry humour with that Yoru-kun/Yoru-kour pun!Words: 442.Tags: Yoruhi Honookaen Rin Kurama

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy The cat pictures most certainly were adorable. There were three kittens, curled up next to each other in a small basket, meowing and snuggling each other, as the mother was watching over them. The cuteness overload forced a soft aww from Rin's lips, as she lifted bent her knees, lifting her legs up into the air above her rear. Swiping sideways, she continued looking through the pictures, wondering how long it would take the two boys to reach her with appropriate equipment. Slightly perking herself up, once she had gotten sufficiently bored, she looked down at the both of them. Thus far, they hadn't even begun moving. Even if the timer, most certainly expired. Clearing her throat, she narrowed her eyes. Ryuusei was showing about the same level of enthusiasm as Rin would've expected. It was about high time that she gave him a little persuasion. Or rather, a little bit of consequence mayhaps. "Oi, you two slackers! If you're not going to hurry up, it won't be my injuries that kills me, it'll be old age!" Pausing for a moment, Rin looked out from the top of the tower, in a very calm and collected fashion. Attempting to think up something that she could offer them as reward for doing this little exercise good, while simultaneously being a punishment if they did the little exercise in a poor manner. A few moments passed, before the idea center ticked in. Yes, this would work. They would both enjoy this."If you pass the exercise to my standards, I'll make you dinner tonight, and we can play games on the console, but, if you fail.." What was the worst possible punishment Rin could think of for Yoruhi-kun and Ryuusei-kun?... Well, both of them were very particular beings, both of them were guys with a huge G. So, of course.. "...You'll go with me to the shopping mall, carrying all my bags, and treating me to some things I want!" That ought to put at least a decent amount of fear into them. Rin was certain to drag them around the mall for hours. Carrying a lot of stuff, and even treating her to some things. It might not have been the most severe threat that she could cook up, nor was it the biggest reward she could cook up, but it was what she had on her mind, so it would have to do. "So chop chop, we'll go through a few exercises and rate your performance after each one!" Musing happily, Rin soon ducked back down into the tower.Returning to watch cutie kittens on her phone, this was going to be a good day. No, it was going to be a splendid day. Teaching friends, someone getting rewarded, everyone being happy. Musing happily, she swiped across the next set of kittens, letting out another aww. Perhaps she ought to get herself and Jasmine a kitten. Perhaps a really fluffy thing..? It'd shed absolutely everywhere though...

I see you through the flood See you through the fire See you through the storms-a-raging
❧ Ryuusei could not look any less interested in this practice than he currently did, and Yoru tried to fight the urge to kick him to get some reaction out of him. He opted to just come up with some solution instead, because he fully expected Ryuu to call it quits in consideration of his injuries if Yoru really did kick him.
Man, the urge was growing more and more.
At least he agreed to let Yoru go first and give the instruction, which would give the slacker some more minutes to slack. All according to plan. With Ryuu gathering a bag and stuffing a neck-bracer inside, Yoru nodded his approval. It made sense. He probably would not think about adding it right from the start, but with Ryuu’s reasoning, it made sense. Catching the bag, he stuffed a few rolls of bandages inside as well before strapping the bag comfortably across his shoulder. His worry about time was much visible, and Ryuusei’s words just made his worry a bit more apparent.
“I think it's way past 20 seconds, so you better get going, Yo-ru-kour.”
He gave the most unimpressed and deadpan expression he could muster to his best friend. “That was bad, and you should feel bad.” He was all ready to stand up and go when Rin’s voice from the top of the watch tower reached them. He glared up at her, ready to retort and say that injured people should just stay quiet when she made the whole practice a gamble and gave them the options for the win and the loss. Yoru nearly froze as he crouched, looking at Ryuusei with an expression that was closer to genuine fear than anything else. “Is she really gonna do that?” he pushed the words through his teeth. “She wouldn’t do that, right?” He was desperately hoping that Ryuusei would tell him Rin would not be cruel enough to drag them all to shopping, but he only had to remember her commanding tone, and that already spurred him to action.
“Dang it, I’m not gonna carry any of her bags anytime soon!” And with that, as if it was a battle cry, he was on his way. Reaching the watchtower and climbing it was cakewalk with his speed and proficiency in parkour, so he was crouching down next to Rin even before she could comfortably settle back down. He glared at the girl, though with only half of his heart in it as he gave her a tiny noogie to her forehead, then grabbed the bag with the current status of the injured.
“Girl, what the hell did you do to wreck yourself this bad?” He smirked, then stood to lean over the edge of the tower and get Ryuusei’s attention with a wave. “Both legs are broken, bleeding at the thighs. Pain in the back and the neck. Bring whatever else you see fit!” He kept the instructions clear and quick. It was pointless to read the whole of the text out loud, because that would just waste precious moments from them. He trusted Ryuu to be smart and only bring what was really needed from the little information that was given. The bandages and the neck-bracer was, surprisingly, all needed and perfect for them right now. They will probably need the stretcher as well, but carrying someone with this kind of injuries down will prove to be a problem. He glanced back at Rin for a moment and smirked before shouting out more just for the hell of it. “She is also guilty of watching cute animal pictures on her phone while we suffer!”
Once he crouched back next to her, his smirk was still present, orange eyes bright, but now he started to really focus on the problem at hand. He pulled the bag off his shoulder. “I’m not an expert, but the neck and back pain seems worse than the bleeding, so bracer first.” With that, he pulled out the neck bracer and leaned above Rin to try and fasten it around her neck. He had never quite dealt with such equipment before, but its use seemed pretty straight-forward, luckily. “Tell me if it is too tight, or I’m doing something wrong, ‘kay?” He asked that much quieter, as if it was a comment outside of the role they were currently playing. They were practicing how to give aid to an injured person, but since Yoru had no prior knowledge of such a thing aside from putting a band-aid on or bandaging a bleeding fist, Rin will have to give some pointers here.
After that was done, he would move on to bandage her “bleeding” thigh, but by that time Ryuusei might be arriving with anything else they need here.
