--- arisu --- - - - Several hours into the morning, and Arisu was starting to despair for time to breathe.
It wasn't a lack of enthusiasm- she loved supporting her classmates, loved building up the new cheerleading squad by hyping them up to the festival attendants, loved performing with them and trying out the cheers and routines they'd worked hard to develop. What it was boiled down to a simple lack of time. She'd done her best to use the time at the festival to the fullest- participating in practice bouts with friends, speaking with others when she had time between engagements, a few lessons slated for herself as well- but at the end of the day, every new activity, every step towards perfect efficiency, smothered her chances to take a breath, recover, regroup. She was drowning in action and it was finally starting to take its toll.
With a silent (and texted) apology, Arisu cancelled one of the practice matches she'd agreed to and hurried out of easy view of the public to duck behind a few of the stalls into a no-mans-land occupied by little more than a sturdy cooler full of water bottles and the back end of a bunch of stalls. It'd have been easy to catch sight of the very visible orange cheerleader's outfit ducking out of the main strip, and the close-cut dark hair made her stand out among the other cheerleaders on the squad- in short, not hard to recognize as she fled the strip to the solitude of the little island in the sea of humanity.
Plucking out a bottle of water, Arisu swallowed half in one go, chugging the cold liquid as she sat on the cooler. Not the most dignified way to get away from it all, but she wasn't particularly concerned about that- she was concerned with taking some time to smother the insecurities and anxieties slowly creeping up around her ankles. Doubts about her athletic ability and capacity to keep up with the cheer routines. Doubts that her cheers were interesting and exciting. Doubts that she'd picked the right event after the meeting they'd held. And anxiety over the pressure to perform on all those fronts despite it all.
Arisu sat on the cooler, bottle in her hands and between her knees, staring down at the ground where her toes, pointed in at each other, would have crossed. Inside, everything was erupting. Outside, she just looked... listless. Adrift, maybe tired, as she heaved a long sigh and tried to discipline herself to squash down the anxious tension.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Arisu may have considered herself overworked and inadequate, but those sensations paled in comparison to what Rin was usually going through. Assisting classmates, being easy to contact for the teacher to arrange new lessons and make sure everyone knew what, when and where they were supposed to be, plus what they were supposed to be doing. Assisting in the nurses offices, Rin often took care of the lighter instances of trouble. Not that the girl wasn't capable of handling the more gruesome things, it was mostly that Nimue-sama wasn't too happy with overworking the raven haired beauty. Having taken all the extra classes that she possibly could, her schedule was also exceedingly overloaded. Even so, she had gotten more than used to dealing with all of it. As the workload increased, so did the girl's stamina. With medical techniques, she had also become efficient at staving off fatigue of the physical kind. When it came to fatigue of the mind, Jasmine-chan had been good at sealing some alone time for them on occasion, allowing Rin to shut her brain off and focus entirely on mostly stupid things. Such as beating the blonde in Fighter Street 13. Not that it ever really seemed to work anyway...As for the sports festival, Rin had been participating in a few thiugs already. The most noteworthy one, was the opening ceremony, where she had performed as her alter ego, Scarlett. The little performance seemingly hadn't been enough that anyone had specifically figured out that the one behind the young idol was in fact Rin. Despite this, the sapphire eye'd female hadn't done much to hide the fact, if anyone had figured after the performance. With all the quirks attending, it wouldn't surprise her if someone had already figured out and the rumors simply had to spread before she'd be confronted. As such, rather than completely removing the crimson color from her ravendark hair, Rin had left a single streak of red to the side. It was so unlike her to have done something significant about her looks, but this particular red streak she quite enjoyed. Musing around the stall areas, Rin caught eye of a distraught young girl from her own class. Disukodo Arisu-san. A girl seemingly sharing a lot of Rin's own traits. Perhaps that is why it was exceedingly easy for Rin to identify what was going on here. That, and just like Rin, Arisu didn't seem the most competent at keeping up a charade or poker-face. Stepping along the back end of the stalls, Rin approached Arisu from an angle, not giving her position away until she, casually, placed a hand onto Arisu's thigh. Not so close-centerwise that it could be considered perverted, but a firm enough grip to confirm her own suspicions. "Fatigue. Muscles that have endured stress. Prone to cramps and pain." Rin's fingers gently caressed the sore muscle for a moment, before the sapphire blue eyes sook contact with Arisu's dark blue. "Arisu-san, you'll not improve by overworking yourself, nor will you finish whatever quest it is you've put yourself on. To rebuild the strain you place upon your body, you'll need rest. The same goes for your mind." Raising her hand from Arisu's thigh, Rin gently poked her forehead, offering a gentle smile, before attempting to sneak out a water-bottle from the cooler Arisu-san was situated upon. While doing this, Rin attempted to speak as a professional, while giving a little insight into the words she was sharing. "..Being fatigued leads to a lot of trouble., y'know. For myself, it typically means I work even harder, while telling myself I am not good enough. I get disappointed in myself, sleep worse, and suddenly nothing goes right."Stretching her body, she tilted her head back and took a few slurps of a freshly opened water bottle. A sigh of utter relief leaving her lips, followed by a content mmh. Putting the cap back onto the bottle, Rin scratched her cheek. "I'd offer you a massage in exchange for a favor at a later point. I believe I can work out most of the strain in your body, if you have about a quarter time. A massage is not to be exchanged for rest, though.." Rin offered politely. With her experience overworking herself, plus all of the hours she had put into medicine, she knew quite a few ways to give Arisu-san a little boost... but somewhere, it was equally as important that Arisu-san learned to limit herself, before her body and surroundings owuld limit things for her......Not that Rin was any better in that regard. Miss Overwork of Yuuei.

--- arisu --- - - -
Having a strange hand falling onto her thigh, especially when most of the hand doing so was beyond the hem of the cheerleader's skirt Arisu was wearing, was more than enough reason to flinch into defensive mode, but even as the first flickers of blackfire spun around her open hand and she twisted to see who DARED, it turned out to be Rin, and the flames dissolved harmlessly. The momentary pressure soothed discomfort Arisu hadn't permitted herself to acknowledge, and that expressed itself as a soft, subtle groan.
"I- I know that!" Arisu protested, the clipped forelock dropping to partially mask her expression as she was sorely tempted to mimic Rimma's habit of poofing out her cheeks. "I have rest planned. After the festival. Lots of time to relax and study and let my body recover. I've... I've got this. I just don't want to waste time when all this is available." Arisu gestured towards the fairgrounds before looking pleadingly back at Rin and speaking quietly. "I'm so far behind. Anyone who's put any effort into their year is light years beyond the benchmarks I can reach. You, Risaka, Darren- Jazmine, especially," she murmurs, bringing up clenched hands as if to strangle the space between them. "She does everything I do but way, way better. It's inspiring, but-" Her hands dropped into her lap. "But it's frustrating too because I can't figure out how I'm supposed to keep up. And I know the spiel, "it's not a competition," and all that, -but it is.- School always is. You know what our country's like. If you're not breaking your back to wring every ounce of success out of yourself, you're lazy, you're failing, you're letting your family- school- employer- down. And that's before you even start to factor in all the ways that slacking off here could affect real people, real victims, real lives, out after we graduate."
A little, marble-sized bobble of flame wisped from her palm and danced in the air in front of her- Arisu stared into it as she spoke. It was easier than maintaining eye contact. "I need to know everything I can about myself and my quirk. I know a lot of the basics- it can fight fires, knock people out, move me around, and crumble debris without hurting living things, but there's so much practical experience I don't have yet. And I know I'm just starting, but I missed so much of the first year, and if I want to be taken seriously when I graduate, then I really need to make a name for myself, and I have to do it with incredible people like you and Jazmine miles past the starting line already. There'll be time for relaxing after the festival but for the next couple days... I really feel like I owe it to myself and my family and my future to take in everything the festival has to-!!"
She cut off as Rin poked her forehead and went for a bottle. The physical contact was surprising and left her blinking in faint astonishment afterwards, interrupted and derailed. As Rin reached down, Arisu scooted her rump up and off the cooler to make that easier, and sat back down after, toes still pointed in at each other to keep her profile small. She patted the other edge of the cooler- there was room for both of the smaller girls to sit, if she wanted to. The next statement, though, blew her mind, and it showed when she spoke. "That -you- aren't good enough? Rin-san, how could you even reach that conclusion? Everyone I've ever spoken to holds you in such high regards. If you're not good enough, Rin-san, who ever could be?"
"A- massage? You think it'd be helpful?" Arisu pondered that. It was something she'd never much considered. "Ah- well, okay. What could I do for you in return? I'm happy to help you however you need, massage or not, Prez-chan," she teased gently. She wasn't at all certain what help she could be to the president of the first year class A, but whatever help she needed, she'd be sure to get.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Listening to the other girl speak, there were so many similarities. This concept of chasing a fleeting dream, which one felt constantly moved further away.. It was a dangerous mentality to get stuck within. Rin knew that all too well, from personal experience. The truth of said dream however, was that it never moved anywhere. It was still in the exact same spot as when one started. It just became more and more apparent how difficult that dream might've been to reach. It was, however, not impossible. There were also a few other facts which Rin could share, that may assist in calming Arisu's mind. "Those statements are two fold, Arisu-chan. Those who you're trying to catch up to, are your allies in reaching your dream - not your obstacle. Even if you do not consider yourself the strongest, no hero works alone. You undoubtedly posess skills, techniques and versatility that will be useful in a team. Work on being the best that you can be, and the rest will follow. I promise... The main competition you face, is against yourself." Rin offered the other girl a confident, warm smile. The simple matter of fact was, that fighting someone like Jasmine straight up, would always be difficult. It was not something just everyone could do. However, Jasmine struggled in other aspects. If the blonde was to capture someone, she could practically only do it with force. If there was debris lying somewhere, needing careful removal, utilizing Jasmine's explosive quirk would also be extremely dangerous. Of course it wasn't impossible to do some of those things, but Jasmine was undoubtedly going to have a much higher learning curve. Though, to be frank, Rin wasn't entirely sure how Arisu-chan's quirk really worked. Yet she was certain that there were aspects of heroism in which Arisu-chan would have an advantage.Tilting her head to the side and listening to the other part of the conversation, it was yet another aspect which Rin could fully understand. Especially since, well, when it came to her own quirk, not knowing or understanding could lead to Rin literally killing herself. The first thing Rin had done, was to identify the science behind the quirk. From there, the raven haired girl had poured countless hours into said science, trying to fully master every aspect of her quirk. Creating meal plans, calculating the amount of energy her quirk uses and produces. Investigating the effects of utilizing her quirk, even on a very small scale. Checking everything from infections, to body circuit problems, to diseases like diabetes. To Rin, the knowledge of what happened inside oneself was precious, almost mandatory. "Well, I can help you with identifying a lot of your quirk as well. As for other aspects, ways to utilize, applications... The only thing I can advice, is doing varied practice. Do keep in mind, I am not telling you to practice all the time, that would be counter productive. However, when you do practice, keep trying out different things. The theory behind what you're doing, your thoughts as to why you're doing them... Keep them written down. It can become your mindmap to unlocking your potential." With that little sentiment shared, Rin reached into her backpack, drawing forth a deep blue notebook, which she had once received from Naoru as a birthday present. Simply handing it across the little gap between the two girls, what met Arisu, should the other girl decide to open the notebook to have a look, would be nothing short of impressive. There were drawings of Rin's own body, with weight numbers, measurements... There were weight numbers to the equipment she needed to carry, calculations of how much newton force she needed to resist to be able to fly, how high she'd be capable of jumping, how much force she expected her quirk to be able to lift, after testing it in the training areas. There were indications of how quickly she could run a 400 meters race. A little schematic down below, of how fast she had ran it with and without quirk over a couple of months. Noticeable improvements in the time it took her to make the distance. Rin was, in other words, collecting obscene amounts of data. When the girl was not practicing, because her body needed rest to function at an appropriate level, she was going over ideas. On other pages, there were layouts of her ideas for improvements. How different types of wings created from her quirk, might allow her to fly faster, fly higher, be more manuverable in the air. There were drawings of how the girl used the blood inside her body to move her limbs quicker. Essentially dominating the blood inside herself for physical feats, specifically focussed on movements and speed in it's current stage. There were biological drawings of the human body. Pressure points, held up against theory from her fighting style. The amount of data Rin had gone through, over this first year at Yuuei was astounding... "Notice, I wrote all of this over the course of an entire year. The brain needs as much time to recuperate as the body. Fatiguing yourself mentally might be even worse than fatiguing your body, since a fatigued mind has no motivation to do anything."Once Arisu-chan was done looking through the information within the book, Rin was very keen on receiving the book back. Afterall, this little thing held a lot of secrets as to how her body worked. Well, perhaps not secrets, but there were oddities mentioned in there as well. Regarding how Rin didn't have regular periods, questions of pregnancy, the odd sensation of being able to feel her own blood outside and inside her body. How every heartbeat made her acutely aware of every corner of her physique. How damage to her system was perceived, down to her being able to tell precisely how deep a punch damaged her. It was a strange realization, knowing how different she herself perceived her own body, compared to how a regular person might've...
