For the past few days, Charles had been setting himself up properly at the convenience store that belonged to his father’s acquaintance, brushing up on his Japanese to the point where he could hold a conversation and getting all of his possessions sorted. Despite having a part-time job at said store for now, the Westerner wasn’t one to leech off of others and decided to seek out a different, better paying job that would hopefully allow him to move out of his gracious host’s home soon and into his own apartment. To that end, he’d browsed the internet for a while, searching various online newspapers and forums until he’d come across some peculiar chatrooms, one of which happened to point him towards an unusual stranger who went by the moniker ‘ArmyOfBones’. Though this person didn’t seem to have anything for him, they did point Charles towards a nightclub named ‘The Pink Jackal’ and stated that he may be able to find a job there from someone named ‘Lady Macabre’.
Though the lanky American man had never gone to any real parties or been a part of that kind of culture, work was work and he’d do whatever it took to get out on his own. Charles took the time to take out a nice 3-piece suit, stowing away his somewhat embarrassing vigilante garb for the sake of making a good impression during his interview. Aside from looking more professional, the formal wear also did a good job of hiding his hideous body and the spots along his arms and legs. The only thing that still made him stand out aside from his slightly grayish skin now was his unpleasant, nearly bald head with a thin ring of gray hair around it- like he was some sort of 14th century European monk. Rummaging through his clothes, he found a black boater hat that covered the top of his head enough to hide his baldness and his hair halo. Feeling good about how he looked, Charles stepped out and made his way towards the night club at around eight or nine pm. He hoped to arrive early enough for the establishment to be operating so he could meet with this Lady Macabre while there weren’t too many people around.
To his chagrin however, the place was already packed full of people dancing and shouting along with loud music, servers darting back and forth between the main floor in odd skeleton costumes. Perhaps he should’ve done a little more research on this place before showing up for an interview- but he was already here and dressed to impress. There was no point backing down now and going back to the job hunt when there was a potential spot for him here. Besides, he’d get used to the atmosphere eventually… right? Charles would make his way towards a nearby counter, asking the bartender and any nearby skeleton-costumed folks where he could find Lady Macabre.

It was a dangerous game she played. She not only walked a thin line, but danced upon it, leaping place to place. It would be only in time that the thread under her feet would snap one day, breaking, and sending her to the depths of the abyss below. But as much as the chance she had to fall from grace, there was the chance she would be shot up to the sky, and praised to the heavens. Each fate, had the same interest to her. To fall into evil and become a villain, or to rise as Japan's greatest hero, it didn't matter. Whatever her position, her job would be the same. To eliminate crime; And to do so, by controlling the underworld. Kasey made her way down from her office, and back to the ground level. The club was always opened, with varying entry prices. Morning to afternoon, there was no fee, but once sunset came around, the bouncers stood at the door and collected their dues. People entered, the hostess took their funds, and they were allowed in. From there, the guest would be handed a mask, as per the theme of the club. Everyone either wore their outfits, or dawned the paper skull masks. Of course, nicer quality ones were for sale, and in the effort to encourage others, all tickets always lasted the week. Buy Sunday, free entry until Saturday. The week, however, did not mean seven days. Kasey smiled, a mask made of bone covering her face. An exterior skull over her face, and her hair colored black for the night. Her horns covered from under a bowler hat, and a pinstripe suit worn over her body. Her sleeves rolled up, and all of her scars visible. The maroon color of her shirt contrasting with the darkness of her black vest. Everyone else had their colors pale and shadowy, while she held colors. But it was still a night where she was going to enjoy herself. Rather than bury her nose in paperwork again, she would take to work, tasking herself with assisting some of her newer employees. Making her way past all of the individuals, and the few that recognized the owner, she quickly shuffled behind the bar, only to take cues from her staff on the drinks they were already preparing to serve. Drink after drink, she mixed until, she found a man at the counter, asking the most peculiar of questions. "Lady Macabre?" Kasey would say, asking his question back to him, her own back facing him. She shook the drink in her hands, only to pour the liquid into the cup of ice for the next customer. She set the mixer on the counter, took the cup, and turned around. She slid it down the counter, only to lean on her hands to come face to face with her newest guest. "What can I do ya for?" she would ask. ~ Word Count: 512 ~ [Kasey & Setsuna] || TrackerQuirks/Abilities: Spirit Harvest : C Iron Stomach : E | Out of Body Experience : F | Busy-ness License : D Regeneration : D |

Making a First Impression Thankfully the entrance fee was rather inexpensive, Charles assuming they made most of their revenue from drinks considering it was a nightclub. Upon coughing up the cash, the lanky American man had been handed a peculiar mask in the shape and design of a skull, which a number of the other patrons and employees seemed to be wearing. He considered donning it for a moment to hide his discolored skin and large, yellow irises- but figured it would clash too much with the otherwise formal attire he’d picked out for his potential interview. Instead, he pulled the mask over the back of his head and let the front rest atop his boater hat as he made his way over to the bar.
One individual stuck out in particular, a woman wearing a skull mask that seemed far more detailed and well made than the other patrons or employees. Aside from that, most of the employees seemed to wear dull or dark shades and colors, in contrast to her uniform, which popped with a vibrancy that drew his eyes to her as she was filling orders for the other customers. His question seemed to catch her attention, the peculiar woman reaffirming his inquiry before giving him her attention and asking what she could do for him. Charles assumed that her answer, combined with her exceptionally higher quality attire than the other employees, would make the young woman the Lady Macabre he was looking for, or at least someone directly under her.
”Pleasure to meet you,” he said, his newly learned Japanese far more formal than he’d ever spoken in his native tongue, though his Midwestern American accent still stood out, clearly marking him as a foreigner. ”My name is Charles Carter. I’ve been looking for a job since I moved here to Japan recently, and someone online who went by the moniker ‘ArmyOfBones’ told me I should try to meet with Lady Macabre at the Pink Jackal, and that she might be able to help me. I’m looking for any kind of work right now to help support myself, and I’d appreciate if you’d give me the chance for an interview.” Charles was willing to accept any sort of job the woman could give him, regardless of how grueling or exhausting it might be- though he didn’t mention that out loud just yet so he wouldn’t seem too desperate. The last thing he wanted was to scare off his potential boss or end up getting paid less than he might’ve otherwise because he made a weak first impression, after all.
Seating himself at the stool across the counter from her, he straightened his tie and cleared his throat- making sure to keep eye contact with the colorful woman. Well, it was hard to be sure if he was really making eye contact, considering the fact that she was wearing a mask, but he did his best regardless. ”This is a nice establishment you’ve got here by the way. Seems this is a very lucrative business with plenty of customers. Of course, I assume that means you need just as many hands on deck to help out, right?”

Listening more to his words, she could only assume he was an outsider. Wit the new years, everyone was taking up a new language. Learn a few, and the barrier between countries no longer exists. She knew English, along with korean and other languages. She was fluent, but not well spoken. That was the cost of reading all the time. You had all of the booksmarts, but you never really had a chance to practice hands on. She leaned in and listened to his words. A story she already knew about. She after all, wore both sets of masks, but that was her secret to keep. Only a handful knew, and if word got out, she would simply just have to kill everyone to keep it from getting out. She had no time to weed out moles. If one person failed her, they all would given time. As much as it would pain her heart to kill Yuri, or her brother, it was a price to pay for the goal she strove for. As he got comfortable in his seat, Kasey would begin her mental planning of where to put the mystery man. After all, it was her girlfriend that had requested he go to Kasey for work. Perhaps Yuri's screening was all Kasey needed. "What's your quirk?" She asked, getting right to the point. "Unless you got none, or don't wanna use it on the job. Right now, I'm just gonna put you over at the merch desk, or the snack bar, given your current provided resume." Kasey smiled, "Unless you have a skill worth mentioning."~ Word Count: 286 ~ [Kasey & Setsuna] || TrackerQuirks/Abilities: Spirit Harvest : C Iron Stomach : E | Out of Body Experience : F | Busy-ness License : D Regeneration : D |

The man was surprised that she leaned closer despite his appearance, and even more so when she asked him about his quirks and abilities. From the way she made it sound, he was already guaranteed a basic job as a cashier here, but that depending on his abilities he may be able to fit some other role. Truth be told, Charles was skeptical at first. For one, he preferred to keep his cards close to his chest- the less people knew about him, the better. He also assumed that since this woman wasn’t a government worker and that this was a nightclub, the type of place that may attract unlawful behavior, she may end up asking him to perform some sort of criminal actions- which he’d refuse to take any part of.
On the flip side however, a better role might mean better money- and if she was just looking for something like security, then there wouldn’t be any problem. He’d stare at her for a second or two, his expression a stoic poker face that did well to hide his thoughts, before coming to the conclusion that it was worth the risk. Rolling up the sleeve on his right arm, the woman would see his wrinkled, gray skin covered by large patches of darker gray. ”All along my body, I have these gray patches of rubber. I can peel them off, stretch them up to several meters, and even make them as hard as stone if I want. It gives me a little bit of versatility- but beyond that I also know my way around a knife fight if necessary” he answered in a low tone before rolling his sleeve back up so that no one else would eavesdrop on their conversation.
”I will make one thing clear before we continue though, ma’am. I’ve never worked in an establishment like this, and I assume you keep everything clean around here- but just in case it needs to be said, I don’t plan on committing any crimes with my abilities. If you just need security though, or perhaps serve want me to serve a more just cause, I’d be happy to give you everything I’ve got. If my quirk or my skills aren’t what you’re looking for, I’ll happily still take one of those other jobs you mentioned too.” Charles had always been taught that honesty was the best policy growing up, and he figured that if the woman was bold enough to ask about his quirk straight up like that, then she probably felt the same to some extent.

On the surface, it was definitely a place that seemed to delve into dark dealings. How could you not expect a club, much more a nightclub to not be tempted to sell and buy with the underbelly of Japan? Unfortunately, even the most illegal thing Kasey was doing, was still within the law. For any upcoming hero, there was nothing to bust. There was no secret to expose. She covered all of her bases. Kasey knew what she was doing. "Just stone, huh." She would say, leaning a bit back. She really hoped for an interesting quirk, but if that was all he had to offer, then she would already begin screening him for her other openings. It wasn't until he mentioned crime, that Kasey laughed at him. "Oh, they really tell everyone that, huh?" Kasey giggled, stopping at the drop of a dime, into a more serious tone, like flipping a switch. "If you vigilantes and heroes would stop with your slander, perhaps we all could get along. The only thing criminal here, is my low and really competive prices." a quote from Master Hain himself. After all, that was the reason he was employed. At least, in regards to the Jackal. "Well, then I offer you the positions as my bartender, custodian, or building operations. Which is just serving drinks, cleaning up after drinks, and making sure things don't catch fire... respectively." She would smile, her mood changing back to the lighthearted giggly girl that she was earlier. "Payment is adjusted based on how laborious the job is for you, as far as benefits, you'll be pleased to know I cover your dental, medical, and optical, completely."~ Word Count: 300 ~ [Kasey & Setsuna] || TrackerQuirks/Abilities: Spirit Harvest : C Iron Stomach : E | Out of Body Experience : F | Busy-ness License : D Regeneration : D |

Charles raised an eyebrow when the woman across the counter made a quip about his quirk, but decided not to press the issue. If what he had to offer wasn’t enough for her, then a regular job would be just fine. Suddenly however, she dropped into a serious tone- labeling him as a hero or vigilante and talking about how his words were slander and that she wasn’t doing any criminal actions. Charles, not realizing what had transpired over the various chat rooms, was baffled as to how she’d figured him out his more discrete operation. Perhaps this Lady Macabre was more well informed and careful than he’d imagined. Still, there was something more important he had to do than wonder how she’d figured him out.
Taking off his hat, he held it to his chest- revealing his mostly bald head as he bowed slightly in the typical fashion he’d seen and heard about on the internet. ”Please forgive my rudeness, ma’am. If I’m being honest, I’ve never been much of a party person or been to any clubs, so I just assumed based on their portrayal in the media and your question about my quirk that there may have been something shady. That was rude on my part and I’m truly sorry- I won’t be so quick to speak in the future” he said before standing upright again, plopping the hat back atop his head. If there was one thing the midwestern American man valued, it was manners. He recognized that he’d been unfair in his words and assumptions and sought to properly apologize for them.
Despite his misstep however, the woman was still willing to employ him- giving him a choice between three simple but earnest jobs- which came with surprisingly outstanding benefits. ”I’m grateful that you’ll take me in, ma’am. Considering my lack of experience with nightlife and large crowds, I think I’d do best as a custodian. I’m no stranger to hard work and long hours to get the job done, and if I can muck horse stalls, then cleaning an establishment like this should be no problem” he answered with a toothy grin, adding a little humor in the hopes of lightening the mood. With that, he’d reach his arm towards Lady Macabre for a firm handshake, assuming she accepted it: ”Once again, Charles Carter- it’s a pleasure to be workin’ with you, ma’am.”

They say you aren't supposed to play with your hand shown. They say not to let the others see your cards. Kasey played with her hand revealed, but that wasn't the problem for people. If you were at a table of several players, not only were all of the players playing with their cards shown to you, but all of them, including the dealer, was that girl behind the bar counter. You weren't just playing against one person. No. She was an entire corporation. Yuri had spoken to him over a vigilante network. Kasey knew her girlfriend enough to know that was how the conversation started. The actual exchange of words was beyond her. But that alone, was enough for her to deduct that the man was here to be hero. But for now, just wanted a job. "Forgiven. I just simply place people where they belong." Words that would be condescending in any other time, in any other place. Here, it was in reference to quirks and people doing what was easy for them. If you could shoot water from your hands, you were at the bar or cleaned. It made no sense for you to sort inventory, especially for the same pay. "Then enjoy yourself, come back to me in an hour, and I'll have everything ready for you." Kasey would tell him. "I'll put you behind the snack counter. You can help clean the machines, as well as the backroom. With your quirk, I imagine that you don't have to fear steam or vapor as much as the others, not saying you're going to face that danger often." Kasey would let a quick grin before letting her expression fade away. Kasey would grasp his hand in her own. "Yout can just call me Lady Macabre. Or Skull, as the others do." And with that, she would finally shake his hand, careful not to shake before a deal, or offer was made. ~ Word Count: 333 ~ [Kasey & Setsuna] || TrackerQuirks/Abilities: Spirit Harvest : C Iron Stomach : E | Out of Body Experience : F | Busy-ness License : D Regeneration : D |

Her words about placing people where they belong might’ve struck a nerve with some, but Charles actually agreed. Their reasons were vastly different, sure: the woman behind the counter placed people based on their abilities without wasting their time, though Charles wasn’t aware of that, whereas he believed that God had a plan for everyone and that they were meant to be in certain places at certain times. Though their process was immensely different, it led them to the same conclusion. ”I can respect that, ma’am” he answered, tilting his head slightly forward in a pseudo-bow to show respect once more.
He’d nod as she went on to instruct him to return in an hour so he could work behind the snack bar- a simple, reasonable task. Her assumption that his quirk would most likely provide some protection from any steam he came into contact with sounded correct, though it wasn’t as though he’d ever put that to the test- perhaps this job would be a good opportunity, even if it didn’t come up often. ”Nothing I can’t handle- it all sounds fine and dandy to me, ma’am.”
”Lady Macabre- you can just call me Charles if you’d like” he said, almost mentioning that she could call him ‘Spots’ before realizing that giving her that information would identify him as a vigilante if any of his deeds ended up making the news in the future. ”I’ll see you back in an hour then” he said, giving one last curt pseudo-bow before heading out onto the floor. She told him to have fun, but he’d most likely waste his time against a wall or in the bathroom until she was ready to put him to work. It was an interesting place to be sure, but he felt as though the mysterious woman had earned his respect. Charles didn’t trust her fully just yet, but he did have enough confidence and a high enough opinion of her to happily work for the mystery woman.
