Saiko's day had started much like any other. At the crack of dawn, she groggily woke herself up, dragging herself out of bed as per usual. She would then go to get breakfast, which was consisted of over-salted eggs and bacon, and a simple glass of ice cold water.
This small, basic meal would be consumed while sitting down, mindlessly watching whatever show happened to be on. In this case, Saiko had been watching an episode of one of the older Super Sentai series, though it was a rerun. Regardless, she didn't bother to find something else, and watched it through to the end as she slowly munched on the food in front of her. Before long though, Saiko finished and gathered up some basic training material before heading out of her dorm room, leaving the dirty dish behind to possibly be cleaned later. (If she really felt like it.)
The daily routines were usually the same, and was almost mechanical to her at this stage. Saiko usually rotated between jogging and her taekwando training, but since she did the prior yesterday, today would be martial arts practice.
Like normal, she made her way to one of the training facilities, which she had become accustomed to doing really early, before classes. It had the least chances of human interaction, which was something Saiko preferred. Though U.A was more inclusive of people, since they were all quirk users, Saiko couldn't shake her past, and didn't like being judged for her quirk. So, the less chances in general, the better in her opinion.
Tossing her bag of supplies to the side of the room, Saiko had dressed in basic workout clothing of a dark green and purple color. Saiko also work a large jacket, mostly to try and soak any excess oils from her quirk to try and limit the mess she might leave behind.
Pulling her hair back so that it wouldn't get in her face, Saiko plugged in her earbuds to her phone which sat in her pocket and put on a playlist that she hadn't sorted in some time. It put on some heavy metal song which she hadn't even remembered being on the playlist to begin with, but left it on anyways out of laziness to change it.
Stepping over to the one of the many sand bags strewn about the room, Saiko paused in front of it as she focused her mind. (Despite the loud, aggressive music.)
Taking her stance, Saiko took a steady breath before landing a swift and powerful strike from her leg to the side of the bag. She exhaled, quickly stepping back before landing two more in quick succession. Saiko's focus was dead centered on her training target. The music drowned out the room around her, even though nobody else was in the room to begin with, save for herself.
At least, that was the plan. However, plans often go arye.

❝You're showing me colours of the sky, But all I see is Grey❞ 419 w. Saiko tachibana Kenjutsu-F | Reinforcement-F | Radiant Dawn-E Relena had always enjoyed the earlier time of the day. It was quiet for the most part and it made her feel like she was in her own little world! But most importantly the sun was peaking and the rays felt especially good in the morning for some reason.
She had been laying outside on the green grass for the past hour with her eyes shut and arms splayed out to her sides. To a passerby, Relena looked like she was attempting to make a snowman with the way her arms and legs waggled lazily back and forth. It was silly, to be sure, but there was nothing wrong with a little fun every once in a while.
Pushing all of her weight on her legs, Relena jumped up to a standing position and hopped up and down from the built up solar energy inside of her. She felt good! She felt like running or yelling or...something! The young lady caressed the bokken that was lazily dangling upon her hip and nodded. She'd get some practice in to help calm her mind and focus her body.
It was but a short walk for her to arrive at the training facilities since it was a place she frequented almost as much as her dorm room! I knowing smile spread across her face as she opened the doors and stepped inside the room...
To find someone else already there.
It wasn't surprising to see others getting in some early workouts, but Relena had never seen this particular girl before. Although, to be fair, she was new to the school and had yet to properly meet anyone aside from her 1-A classmates. The girl in question was preoccupied with a punching bag and there was a pair of head phones drowning out the world around her.
Relena merely shrugged and walked to the other side of the room, bringing her wooden weapon to bare. She let out a long, drawn out sigh before maneuvering around the room while swiping at the air. Left slash and then a right! She flowed easily between stances, adjusting her footwork appropriately, when she raised her weapon up above her head and...felt it make contact with something.
Her eyes grew wide as she stood there stock still. Could she really have done what she just did? Oh no. No no no!
Relena looked back behind her and confirmed her suspicions. There was the headphone girl next to her and Relena had just clonked her on the head.

Saiko hadn't really noticed her fellow peer enter the room, nor would she really have cared if she had. The room was plenty big enough for the two of them, and there was more than enough practice dummies if that was the route the student wanted to go. The two seemed to go about their business without much incident, and that was fine by Saiko, whom was still working on her form and strikes diligently.
However, something broke that concentration that Saiko had been holding for a good fifteen minutes. It wasn't a sharp pain, and it wasn't a light pat either.
A simple 'bonk' on the head, though whatever it was continued to rest upon her head as if frozen in time. Saiko lowered her staunch stance, standing now completely dumbfounded. She waited for a minute, though in all honesty it felt like an hour, expecting some kind of reaction.
Perhaps the other student wanted to get her attention and didn't know how? Maybe Saiko was so utterly absorbed in her training that perhaps she unknowingly ran into the other student?
Saiko let out a long, tired, and defeated sigh as she, unfortunately, knew it was none of the above. Reaching a hand up, she pushed the practice blade that had been resting on top off her scalp. Reaching into her pocket, she flicked the music off and tilted her gaze over to the student.
"I am actually, legitimately curious. How did you manage to hit sole other person in the a room this big-" Saiko's tone wasn't annoyed or angry, but there was an underlying hint of disappointment that was clear with the words she dully spoke.
Turning fully around, she looked the student head on with her steely focus. "With so many other objects and obstacles in the way, while starting at the other side of the room. Yet, despite all of this, you managed it against all odds. I would say I'm impressed, but I don't think that quite covers how I am feeling right about now."
Something about the student that stood in front of her seemed familiar, but Saiko wasn't exactly sure what. With a lazy shrug, Saiko turned back around and shook her head. "Just a word of warning though, not all students or people would be so forgiving. Just imagine if that was an actual weapon and you hit an ally or civilian. Somebody innocent could be hurt that way."
She went to turn her music back on without much thought to return to training. "I'm not gonna knock your skills or anything. Just be more careful next time, okay?"

❝You're showing me colours of the sky, But all I see is Grey❞ 380 w. Saiko tachibana Kenjutsu-F | Reinforcement-F | Radiant Dawn-E There were a million different outcomes that Relena had expected to occur from her little accident, but this wasn't one of them. The other girl seemed lethargic to the entire thing and completely disarmed Relena of putting forth any kind of emotional response as she just stood there.
There was no comeback that she could think of. The way that girl spoke was a mix of tired apathy and stinging rebuke. It made Relena feel empty inside, which was in vast contrast to how wonderful she felt earlier. Those hard blue eyes had dismissed Relena like an old newspaper. But it was still her fault, after all, so the least she could do was attempt to make amends.
"O-Oh, yes of course." Relena nodded her head to the girl in an attempt at an apology. "It was just that I must have put too much into my session today. I'm usually mindful of my surroundings, but something seems to be off with me today...I'm not one to indulge in such base pleasure, see I-"
Was she ignoring her? Relena raised an inquisitive brow as the student turned her music back up to drown out her words. How absurdly rude! Here she was trying to apologize and she was being ignored in favor of loud, barbaric screech music!
With as ginger a motion as possible, Relena plucked one of the earphones out and let it drop to the girl's side. Standing face to face, they were roughly about the same height but their builds couldn't be more different. One was clean pressed and the other disheveled. But despite her demeanor, Relena felt some fighting potential from this person.
"You can't 'knock' someone's skill if you have never gauged it to begin with. Come on, training alone has it's benefits, but sparring could potentially be even more rewarding. So what say you?"
She moved off to the nearest wall and set her bokken down against the wall before returning to face her opponent. Relena held her fists up in a defensive stance or, at the very least, a sufficiently comfortable one. While she preferred to fight with her sword, it was dishonorable to face off against an unarmed enemy. Particularly one that she was challenging.
"It could turn out to be fun!"

Saiko had just planned on returning to her training without a second thought. What more really needed to be said? Saiko 'scolded' the other student, and the girl gave an apology. That was that, right?
However, the sword wielder decided to take offence to Saiko, and plucked the earbud directly from her ear. Saiko paused once again, her eyes drifting to the ceiling now in annoyance. It wasn't often she got frustrated, but when she specifically wanted to train in solitude, this wasn't helping any.
If the girl wanted to know something, she easily could have just asked instead of doing what she did. Whatever the case, she now had Saiko's full attention...which she already had when she smacked her over the head.
"Listen, I don't know what you consider 'base pleasure' in your world, but in mine, it is playing video games and using the computer. This? This is work, but I do it anyways to better myself."
Saiko gave a heavy sigh and shook her head to clear her thoughts, her fingers gently pressed against her forehead.
"I don't know about you, but I don't particularly care if others want to compete to amongst each other, as that is there 'base pleasure'."
With a cross of her arms, she eyed the fighter calmly. "Me? As long as I can make sure that I am strong each to protect others that can't protect themselves...that is good enough for me."
Thoughts about her childhood friend crossed her mind, which made her more depressed than she wanted to be at the moment. If only she was there, maybe she could have made a difference.
Or they might both have lost there lives...
"I'll cut to the point and say I don't care for sparring. At least physically. I don't find any enjoyment in it, nor would I find it fun. As I said earlier, it is work. Plain and simple."
Saiko watched the girl carefully in mild confusion, still unsure of what to think of her. Part of Saiko didn't want to be bothered with her push to train together, but on the other she couldn't help but wonder why she was so insistenet.
"Your a sword fighter. Why would you challenge me to physical fighting? I don't follow. It is like challenging a head chef to making chocolate. They both cook, but the process is-"
Saiko didn't feel like she was getting anywhere with her arguement. Though it might have been presumptuous, Saiko believed she was dealing with somebody that was the type to not give up easily. I guess stuborn worked, but so was herself to an extent.
'She is a defensive fighter.' Saiko thought to herself. So she knows more than just sword combat. Did the other girl know that she was aware of this?
With another defeated sigh, Saiko shook her head. Why did she have to be the type to be compliant in situations like this? Saiko largely blamed her father, but conceded anyways. With a slugish pace, Saiko removed first the jacket that she wore, leaving just her basic work uniform. Then, with a simple motion removed the band in her hair, letting her damp hair fall down around her shoulders.
"My father pesters me regularly to try and understand others with quirks, as it will help me understand my own better." Saiko said through breaths as she did a couple of extra stretches and loosened her muscles further. Though this also had the ulterior motive of readying her quirk, Slick Slime.
"So you win. I'll go a round since I don't see myself getting out of it." Saiko said in a grumble as she gave a final couple of short hops in place and rolled her neck. With a deep breath, she exhailed and took an offensive stance to combat her defensive one.
Without a further word, Saiko charged towards her opponent without hesitation. The icy gaze reflected Saiko's focus through her eyes locked on her oponents, attempting to read her every movement. One step, two steps, three steps.
The distance between them was maybe ten-fifteen steps at most. However, Saiko fluttered her steps, bluring the line between each one. What might have looked one was actually the distance of two or three.
This was a result of her quirk. Saiko was essentially skidding every other step, but hiding it to the best of her ability. She didn't want her 'training partner' to know until it was too late. After all, that is the way of the hero, right? You often don't know the dangers you are up against until it is too late.
Within only about six running steps, Saiko was already on the other girl. A quick, shuffled step manuevered her body toward the side of the student. Using the momentum, the swung her right leg forcefully in a sweeping strike, attempting to trip up her opponent.
At worst, she would find out her opponents quirk. At best, she would hopefully knock her opponent down.

❝You're showing me colours of the sky, But all I see is Grey❞ 535 w. Kenjutsu-F | Reinforcement-F | Radiant Dawn-E Relena gave a nod to the girl in front of her, giving a satisfied grin in response to her exasperation. It was clear that Relena was behaving like a pest who was butting in on someone else's workout regiment and it was unlike her to do so. Maybe it was overexposure to the sun or maybe it was some magical day, but Relena felt giddy and wanted to cut loose. Even if it meant not using her weapon and even if it meant getting her ass handed to her. So be it."There is little to be confused about. Annoyance on your part I can understand, but I believe I have made my proclamation abundantly clear." She offered a curt bow, still grinning. "Please forgive my selfish request, but I have been wanting for a battle since arriving at this school." After some mild grumbling, the other girl had ultimately succumbed to Relena's request and began warming her body in preparation. The idea was a smart one and thus she mimicked the actions, stretching out her arms up to the ceiling and reaching down to touch her toes. After the initial stretches, the girl rushed her without warning.Relena's eyes narrowed in focus, attempting to study the movements of her opponent. A glare that was sharp as a razor's edge and she was so caught up that she failed to recognize the illusion of the footsteps. A quick side step brought the girl around near Relena's flank and though she tried her best to jump out of the way, she wasn't quick enough. She gasped in shock as the leg slammed into the back of her calf. With the force of the attack, Relena felt the room shoot upward as she was sweeped off of the floor and subsequently crashed onto the mat with a very loud thud. The impact on her back was heavy enough to cause her breath to escape her lungs forcibly and she lay there for a few moments with eyes wide and mouth agape. It took her some time to recover and realize what had just happened, but once it had caught up with her...Relena burst out into laughter. The kind of laughter that started genuine but then slowly devolved into heavy breathing with an occasional chuckle snuck in for good measure."Well, that was quite something." She breathed, looking up at the other girl. "I didn't even see you coming before it was too late. Very impressive...ha ha."That hit had indeed caught her by surprise. The first blood had gone to the other girl, but Relena didn't mind at all. Losing was not the end of the world...in fact, it was preferable. Losing meant that she had more to learn and more to aim for, which got the knightly girl all the more excited!Relena sat up and crossed her legs while watching with interest at the slime on her opponent. "I wouldn't mind trying that again. That is, if you wouldn't mind. Oh, by the way-"She put one hand on her knee to support her weight as she rose to stand once more. "My name is Relena Tsuruya..." Relena stretched her hand out. "What's your name?"
