The stage was set: a magnificent arena about the size of a football pitch, within which were four colorful blocky fort structures connected by skinny bridges. These structures each had two levels to them, with the top levels rising twenty metres above the ten metre high lower levels. Eight students found themselves brought to the centre of this arena. Told to wear their hero costumes, they waited several minutes until the sound of thunderous, whirring blades signalled the sudden arrival of a helicopter. The helicopter doors slid open and out leapt a pair of ominous-looking figures. The figures landed before the students and immediately struck dramatic poses, back to back with one arm extended perfectly straight. One was the villain-turned-hero Geist, and the other was his Quirk, his living shadow, which appeared as a completely solid black doppelganger of him connected to his feet by flexible, thin black strips. The shadow’s arms flopped and it stood still and silent as Geist took a step towards the students.
The former villain’s eyes swept critically over the group before him from behind his fearsome mask: there was quite a mix here. He already had his teams in mind, and had done his best to vary up the classes - heroes did not get to choose who showed up to the scene of the crime at the same time as them, after all. Given this was his first lesson at UA, he was eager to see what the outcome would be.
“Alright, kids, listen up!” he cried, one arm pointing dramatically into the air. His voice was full of enough raw power to be heard clearly even over the helicopter above. “This is a hero school, not a goddamn social club, so it’s time to do some actual hero training.” His shadow stepped forward and made a sweeping gesture across the arena. “You may notice these forts around us! They’re kinda hard to miss. You’re gonna be put into four teams of two and assigned to one. Each fort has a flag the same colour as the fort on top. Beside that flag is a bucket of the same colour! Your objective as teams is to defend your own flag while also stealing the flags of your opposing teams and placing them inside your bucket. If an opposing team gets your flag into their bucket, your team is out. The game will continue until only one team remains.”
He reached into the pockets of his coat and pulled out a series of headbands: two of each colour. He threw them towards the students one-by-one. “Put these on. Don’t remove them, or you’ll learn what a real ass-kicking feels like.” This done, he folded his arms. “Now, we’re treating this like it’s a genuine hero mission, so I expect to hear you refer to each other by your heroic codenames! Likewise, I expect to be referred to as Geist-sensei. Quirks are of course permitted and encouraged, but don't try to kill each other or I'll have to step in, and trust me when I say you don't want that!"
He snapped his fingers towards the helicopter and down from it beamed a projection of the arena map, as well as the game’s rules listed beneath it.
“Take a good, long look! Those Xs mark the locations of the flags and buckets. You’ll get a little time to convene with each other before the game begins, but only a little, so make it count.”
He gave them some time to look at the map and the rules, then signalled to the helicopter, which promptly departed.
“Now get to the top of your forts!” he ordered. “That’s not a request! You’re here to be heroes, aren’t you? Well, it’s time you kids showed me exactly how much you want that!”

OOC lesson info:
X marks the locations of the flags and buckets. The middle levels of the fort are ten metres high while the upper levels rise twenty metres above the middle levels. The upper levels are surrounded by metre high fences. Flags look like this, with small circular bases: Red TeamEli Bantis Haruuhi Hajimari Blue Team@seanmizushima @alexander Green Team Saito Yamada Emi Ryoko Tachibana Yellow Team Jasmine Noir @box
Rules: 1. You can move your own flag, but only within the top level of your fort. (Except when you're taking it back, obviously). 2. You can attempt to steal another team's flag that someone is already stealing, but if they manage to get the flag to the top of their base into their bucket then you cannot take it. 3. If an opposing team successfully gets your flag into their bucket, your team is OUT. 4. You cannot move your flag bucket or steal another team's bucket. 5. Do not remove your headbands. 6. The game will continue until one team remains.
All students start from the top of their fort. Students will have two posts to convene before the lesson begins, during which they must not leave the top level.
Post order: Haruuhi -> Heidi -> Eli -> Emi -> Saito -> Sean -> Alex -> Jasmine
You have 48 hours to post after the person in front of you. Please let me know in advance through Discord (Epsilon#4699) if you will not be able to post in this time. If you do not post within 48 hours you will be skipped.
May the odds be ever in your favour!

| Haruuhi Hanabira Radio Tower | |
Practical training lessons... while Haruuhi knew how to fight, these scared the living shit out of her... there were so many other students with powerful offensive quirks that it really forced Haruuhi to have to change up her style, and that posed a risk of her pushing herself too far and having another aneurysm... She had to be sure to keep herself in check, and keep herself as far out of the action as possible for as long as possible...
When they first arrived, one of the schools teachers, Geist-sensei appeared on the scene in a dramatic way, his shadow doppelganger mimicking his movements. She smiled gently from behind her helmet's visor, liking the darker look of their teacher all geared up. He sounded very assertive though, and really told the gathered students (All of which she didn't know beyond Jasmine) how things should be done to the letter and it caused Haruuhi to shift her weight nervously.
She silently reached out with her quirk as the teacher spoke, trying to sense what was nearby in terms of electronics. Anything that used a radio signal, she should be able to feel... She could feel the signals from the hologram but everything else so far was out of her reach... She was sure there would be security cameras at least though that she could hack into, seeing as the teacher needed to keep track of their progress after-all.
"H-Hai Sensei" Haruuhi spoke up whenever Geist-sensei ushered them away from the meeting area, taking the red headband handed to her with a mild look of amusement on her face. It was nearly the same color as her hair, and almost wished she would wrap it around her head. Instead though, she opted to wrap it around her left bicep as best she could, heading towards the red fort. She caught a glimpse of the other students leaving, and found only one to be putting on the second red banner. She ran over towards his side, her voice projecting through the speakers in her helmets ears.
"It looks like we're going to be partners today! My name is Radio Tower." She introduced herself, waiting for the other students to get out of earshot before speaking up again once they had more privacy.
"I control radiowaves with my quirk. Mainly used for recon and security, but I can use blasts of radiowaves too if I need to get into any combat. Here... this will help us keep in touch" Haruuhi would reach into the base of her helmet and retrieve a small, circular device that she would then hand over to the boy she was being paired up with.
"It's an earphone. It doesn't have a very big range, but it'll give us an advantage."

so put that ring away and cash it in Under that mask was one hot DILF. Taking bets now. No way that deep, husky voice belonged to someone who didn't have a gorgeous face to match. Joined at the feet and likely borne from his quirk was a clone, shunted to the background to play hype man, while the original kept up his bad cop persona. Their glorified gym instructor went ham on the details, even more so on these dumb rules. As yellow cloth fell into her grasp, she shot an impatient hand straight up, mostly for the student aesthetic rather than for actual speaking privileges. "Teacher! If someone takes off their headband, shouldn't they be punished?" She hadn't had much time to settle into this country, much less understand all its cultural norms, but tempting a minor like this was surely illegal. Regardless, a visual TL;DR grabbed everyone's attention as a summary of the exercise lit up the field. One quick glance told her everything she'd need, a.k.a. the bare minimum. Positively bursting with energy and bouncing in place, she swept her gaze down the line until it landed on a matching color. She eyed her partner from head to toe, then squinted suspiciously at Team Blue next door. Her lips furled in disappointment. Why hadn't Heidi gotten a matching color scheme? But then again, she couldn't blame Papa Geist for favoring this blonde bombshell of a babe. Taking the high road, she marched up to her partner and adopted a super pose, hands on hips and chest puffed out. "Hi I'm Heidi!"Her chin perked up, not out of pride, but out of necessity. This gal was one tall motherfucker. "Hey hey, are you Latvian or something?" In this day and age, she might've been native Japanese, but her stature and appearance hinted otherwise. Their small talk faded with beat of propellor blades. Under their teacher's watchful eye, it wouldn't be easy to dick around amongst the mayhem. "Jeez, what a slavedriver," she commented, hovering closer to a compliment than a complaint. A call to battle stations drove them both to the top level of their fort, mounted two stories off the ground. Multilayered structures and bridges helped flavor the field, but other than that, this whole area boasted nothing but a bunch of open space. Not the most ideal background to film badass action sequences of hyperactive teenagers. Nonetheless, she had to work with what she got. Clambering up the final set of stairs, she went over to their flag and plucked it out from its base. "I'll guard." Taking the lame job, one for the team. She twirled the pole like a marching baton. "When the whistle blows, you won't see me or the flag. That's normal. I'll be right here." Vague terms, but if the more color-coordinated half of their team couldn't pick up the cues, then they had bigger problems. Hands turned over each other in a repetitive dance, driving their golden banner around in circles. "So that's me. What do you do? What's your quirk?" At this, she let her right hand take full control of her little gymnastics act while her left swiped briefly over the end of a lanyard strung taut around her neck, seemingly unhooked like a necklace without a charm. One smooth motion, like brushing down wrinkles, vastly overshadowed by the gaudiness of flag spinning. A subtle interruption before the finale, before slamming the butt of the prop down beside her in a dramatic sweep.

Eli knew he wasn't great in combat, but that's exactly why he signed up for the capture the flag exercise. He knew he was most likely gonna be no match for most of the other students, but that was why he was here, to get to their level of experience. The teacher overseeing the lesson got out of a helicopter and explained the rules pretty loosely. It was the basic "Blah blah don't kill blah blah here's your objective blah blah teammates." I mean come on, they were teenagers how would they not know what capture the flag was? Finally Geist-Sensei got to the rules that differentiated this version of the game. Eli paid enough attention to where he could understand but not so much that he looked like he was taking this as if it were the real thing, sure practice how you perform but in reality you won't know the rules if a villain attacks or something similar.
Eli got his red headband and wrapped it around his neck. He looked around at all the other teams and saw familiar faces in Sean and...no one else. He really needed to socialize with more people that weren't in 1-C, more specifically the support studies kids. As soon as Eli finished looking at the competition his team would be going against, he heard a voice from behind. A short red haired girl approached him with a red headband on her left arm. She introduced herself as "Radio Tower" so Eli decided he should be polite and offer his hero name back, "I'm Diamond Knight. I can't wait to see how good of a team we can be!" Eli said, before listening to the explanation of her quirk. It seemed to be mostly geared towards defense based on the way she described it, but it could be used for both it seemed.
Eli grabbed the earphone from Radio Tower and put it in his left ear as he walked towards their fort, "Wow that's a pretty amazing quirk, for mine, I can create and control diamond like objects. they don't have all the properties of diamonds, so they break easier and cant damage as easy but it works well for trapping and making weapons. So is there any way you can like put a tracker or something similar on the flag, that way we know if its missing? Maybe something to tell us if enemies enter our fort too? I don't know the limits of your quirk so if it's too much or anything that's fine, but it would definitely make it easier to go on the offense since we would know if its missing or an enemy is approaching it." Eli started focus to make a barricade around the flag in case they wanted to go that route, "I could make a barricade or something around our flag though if that works better, do you wanna go a full offense, full defense, or one on each route? If you can make a tracker I would say either full offense or one of us on each but I'm definitely open to anything you want to suggest!" Eli tried not to sound too assertive, after all he didn't want the two of them to not share ideas.

Post by Emi Ryoko Tachibana on Nov 3, 2018 7:17:06 GMT -4
‘Who the hell is bankrolling this school?’ Emi was no stranger to wealth. She’d found herself in too many mansion gatherings, Michelin-starred restaurants and luxury malls to not recognise money when she saw it, but the arena they had been sent to was… a strange display, to say the least. Vibrant building-sized forts. Sure, they would be useful for a combat lesson, but what the hell were they used for when there wasn’t a squad of heroes-in-training looking to practice? Was this truly what ‘money to burn’ looked like?
Her thoughts were cut short by the sound of a helicopter droning above them. Given that it was hard to think about much with the blades drilling through her ears, she stood idly and awaited their teacher’s arrival. Or… teachers. The ‘Geist’ fellow was a bit of an anomaly, from what she could tell. Looking up pro heroes on the internet was a simple task, which meant Emi knew the basics on most of the school’s staff that mattered. It was hard for her to miss the rumours that followed the masked man wherever his name was mentioned. She hadn’t bothered to look too much into it, on account of him being neither female nor cute, but she knew that he’d had a hand in some shady dealings.
Then again, she could’ve gathered that from looking at him. Once the duo had landed (with a questionably flamboyant pose), it was hard to mistake the second figure as anything other than a quirk in action. Why he chose to have it out was anybody’s guess, but considering how intimidating the man looked without it, she wasn’t about to open her mouth and question it. Thankfully, there wasn’t much need for her to ask questions – his task was straightforward, if not a little difficult. She raised a hand to catch a green headband, showing a self-assured smile. She looked more confident than she felt, but if she knew one thing, it was that appearing confident was half the battle. Showing her new enemies a potential weak picking wasn’t going to do her any favours, and so she had come prepared. A salty breakfast had provided her with fuel for her quirk, and while she lacked a hero costume, she had something just as good. A Halloween costume.
The group were split apart, and Emi gestured for her partner to follow. Some sort of hippie, if the hair was anything to go by, but at the very least, he didn’t look like dead weight. Then again, none of the class did with their costumes on. She spoke as she walked and tied her headband around her upper left arm, not bothering to look at the boy behind her. “Call me Halo!” Her outfit clearly read Emi on her shoulder and her thigh; if any of the class had been in the school’s group chat, they might recognise the name. “And I’ve got an idea for how we can play this. A few ideas, but it might be easier to show one than tell. I’m not much of a fighter, so I’d rather play this defensively. Or you can go and venture out and try to grab a flag for us.”
She stopped on the first level of their tower, shoes tapping the ground. “Yeah, this’ll do.” She continued walking. “So, Plan A. Going off that map, the top level – where our flag has to be – only has three entry points. Assuming nobody can fly, anyway. The bridges to blue and yellow team, and the stairs down here. I can block those up easily enough. Leave gaps I can attack through while they’re trying to break in. But that’ll only slow people down, if they took the time to come all the way and visit. So, now that I’ve said it out loud… Not a great plan.” She arrived to the top-most level of the fort. Her stage. “Now, I’m not an expert on quirks, but... I think I’m on to something here that nobody else can do. Let me just…”
She stopped a few feet away from their flag, pointing to it. The flag was surrounded by her ‘element’ of choice – a dome of sodium chloride. “Decent, right? Protected, but… not much.” Indeed, the translucent crystal could shield, but not hide. “There’s a bunch of physics involved, but the gist is that light isn’t having much trouble passing through the crystal. So…” The dome dispersed into countless white grains, dancing in the air as she figured out what she wanted. Then they rushed back together, creating a more chaotic construct. Her new crystal was made up of several small prisms, and jagged and jutting out of each other without any care for beauty. Within them, she let the salt crystals take on a more natural state – a haphazard collection of cubes and cuboids making the base of her creation. But, most importantly, it was almost opaque, a cloudy white covering all but the edges of the structure. The flag inside was almost entirely hidden (and a few more crystals could fix that), but the smirk on her face was much easier to see.
“Physics! There’s lots of mumbo-jumbo behind it, but the basic idea is that light can’t pass all the way through an ugly, unrefined crystal. Which means…” She created another array of crystals in the palm of her hand, rapidly growing until it roughly matched the size of the flag’s camoflague. “With a few of these around, nobody will know which one has the treasure, or if any of them do. And every second that they spend searching for the real one is another second of time for us, and for me to fire on them. Not bad for an improvised plan, right?” The look on her face told that he didn’t need to answer – she was already extremely proud of herself for thinking of it.
“I can’t do both plans – not enough time, probably, and I’ll burn myself out with all of that. Or, if you’ve got something better in mind, shoot. I don’t know what your shtick is, but I figure this plays to my strengths pretty well.”

Post by Saito Yamada on Nov 3, 2018 22:23:56 GMT -4
For all intents and purposes, Saito didn’t start listening to Geist-sensei’s briefing until after he got a green headband tossed into his face. Until then, he was idly staring into space, panicking over whether he’d left his dorm room door unlocked before he left for this snazzy exercise he’d decided to attend. The walking Halloween decoration could call it what he wanted, this was just an oversized game of capture of the flag with, admittedly, badass platforms to look cool on. What interested him were the pretty easily exploited bridges connecting all four bases. The rules were pretty simple too, not that Saito would have to worry about moving his own flag. He already knew his game plan.
OVERWHELMING AGGRESSION.
Team Green, huh? Tying the colourful band around his head, he looked around for his partner. Where were they? Wasn’t there meant to be – Oh, she’s already walking. Saito bounced into a short jog to get the girl wearing a similarly green band around her arm. Halo, huh? He didn’t even get the chance to introduce himself before she went on about strategies. Hearing she wasn’t a fighter was a relief. It’d be impossible to win if no one stayed behind and played defence. Saito brushed a rough hand through his hair as the pair of them walked up onto the first level. There was no way for anyone without a flight or climbing quirk to scale either of the levels, so that was handy. Staying quiet for the moment, Saito listened to Halo spout off a comprehensive strategy, though he found himself getting distracted by just how fucking high they were. If someone fell from this height, they were fucked. Like, genuinely screwed. Bit spooky, all things considered.
Then what seemed to be a personalised light show took place. Saito stood back while Halo used her quirk(?) to create what could only be described as a bunch of decoy flags made of salt, while also hiding their own in the same salty coating. It was impossible for Saito to tell which of them was the flag they needed to protect – but he’d decided to omit that particular detail. He didn’t care for the science behind it either, saying in his first words to the girl he was working with. “So… You’re gonna stay up here and try to keep people from finding the flag? Sounds good to me. Ya might wanna prepare then, cause ain’t no one for miles that didn’t see that flashy stuff, pal.” he chuckled warmly, enjoying that terribly proud expression on her youthful face.
She asked him for his own plan. Oof. Rough. He felt bad for not having thought of something grand and effective like literal decoys. With a sheepish smile, Saito wandered around their base’s upper level. “I ain’t got nothin’ fancy like that. I just punch stuff. I’ll leave defence and the fancy stuff to you, partner!” He clenched his hand into a harsh fist and grinned to prove his point, kicking off his sloppy trainers, leaving them in the corner of the fences and bouncing on his heels. He began stretching and jumping and jogging on the spot. Gotta get that blood pumping. Oh boy. This was gonna be fun.

Combat Lesson: Block Fort Flag Brawl
|
Aw yeah! Upon hearing about the combat lesson that would be taking place, Sean was just filled with excitement. The blue-haired boy made his way to the arena. As instructed, Sean was dressed in his hero outfit, which consisted of striped light blue tight pants with fins at the end, sandals, blue swimming goggles around his eyes like a makeshift mask, and no shirt. He brought with him two one-liter bottles of water. Seeing as this was a combat lesson, Sean supposed that it was reasonable to assume that he would need to use his quirk. It was a shame that Sean could not bring more water with him, but two liters was a lot better than nothing.
Upon arriving at the arena, Sean was amazed when he saw the four forts. The boy smiled. He could already tell that this was going to be an awesome lesson. He was even more amazed when in just a few minutes later, the teacher arrived to the arena on a helicopter, and alongside with what appeared to be his shadow, posed like a manly character out of an anime. Sean listened eagerly as the teacher explained the objective of their mission. A four way capture the flag? Awesome! This guy was already on his way to becoming one of Sean's favorite teachers if all his lessons were going to be like this.
After being given a blue headband (which made Sean happy, as blue was of course the boy's favorite color), Sean put it on. It reminded him of the headbands that ninjas would wear in that one anime the boy watched. After all the explanations were done, the teacher ordered the students to get to the top of their forts. Sean immediately yelled out "Yes, Geist-sensei!"
Sean made his way to the blue fort. Once on the very top of it, the boy could not help but peer down to see just how high up he was. The fort was no mountain, but the view was still pretty impressive. Once Sean was done with that, he turned around and noticed another student also wearing a blue headband. With the usual smile and wave of his hand, Sean greeted his teammate.
"Yo! The name's Tsunami. It's a pleasure to get to work with you!" Once introductions were out of the way, it was time to talk quirks and strategy. "I can manipulate water, shaping it into whatever I see fit. I can pretty much do either offense or defense. So it's up to you on whether you want me to stay here and defend our flag, or go in on the offensive." To Sean, it didn't matter which role he had to play. Either way, he would do his best to help his teammate.
Win or lose, there was one thing Sean was sure of. This was gonna be fun.

Bridges, forts, flags.. Battle, of course. Before the teacher even arrived, the Nikinawa was already smiling widely with his teeth barring. A fancy entrance with the use of a helicopter was more than enough to catch the boy's attention, and he listened intently to everything in order to get a proper grasp on the activity. While he wasn't exactly a smart fellow, he was able to strategize well, especially on the spot, due to his many brawls where the Quirk user was outnumbered. There were two teams they could go for first - green or red. There was one thing that Saionji knew so far, though - he was going to be on the attacking side. The delinquent doesn't bother to nod his head or respond to the teacher once everything has been explained - instead, he makes his way on top of the fort, tying his headband around his shoulder, noticing it's blue color that he honestly didn't particularly like. It's simply hilarious - the pairing of the team - a Water Manipulator and a Fire Manipulator. Two polarizing energies pitted together in a team. And yet, he outstretched a hand to greet his teammate, who's name seemed to be Sean. "Saionji Nikinawa, yo'. Call me Blazing for this exercise, I guess, ya'?" He tells the other, nodding once or twice. His face was fully visible in his costume, mainly because.. it was pretty last-minute. Truth be told, the Nikinawa didn't prepare an actual costume yet. Instead, a mask thrown over his face in the shape of a skull without the jaw, a leather, studded jacket - overall, he looked like a masked rockstar. It was a makeshift hero costume, if anything - he didn't have anyone to create a real one for him and thus, he had to improvise. "Me, on the other hand can manipulate fire. Pretty weird for us to be paired together, huh? I'll go on the offensive, tho'. Tha's the only thing I know how to do. Should I go for red or green first, eh?" The boy questions his new teammate, crossing his arms over his chest as he looks towards their flag. "And we oughta protect this somehow, too. What'cha got, defense man?" Another question aimed at the water-man!__ WC 370

Post by Jasmine Noir on Nov 4, 2018 18:21:27 GMT -4
What did it mean to agree with somebody? The 'definition' of agreeing with someone was, as found in the internet, as follows: to have the same opinion as someone else, to agree with someone or something, to have made the same decision, etc. etc. The same obvious replies were all over the place. If you asked any of the kids present what that means, chances are their answers would be something along the lines of being cool with something, someone, or what they're doing. Probably. Jaz really didn't know any of these people aside Haruuhi and Sean.
But anyway, if you're wondering what that previous spiel about agreeing was, well... it pretty much summed up Jasmine's thought process right now. She didn't know how she was roped into this class exercise, nor really why. Most of the exercises that they had in class were subpar at best. Cian's were pretty good, and definitely useful in many ways, but that wasn't Jasmine's current focus in the development plan she had set out for herself. Rescue was indubitably something she'd need, but she would be able to focus on that when she was able to physically excel. This mindset was one she carried into this exercise as well? Capture the flag? We're going to be doing some dumbass relay, aren't we?
The next thing she knew she was found dumbfounded, blinking several times as she stared at Geist-sensei with the face of a dumbass. Yes, Jasmine Noir agreed with him to such a fucking unhealthy degree that she was totally fine calling him sensei. Oh my God, finally somebody said it. This was a hero school. Why the fuck were they 'training' their 'socializing skills' more than anything else? It was revolting. This person proved he spoke her language with the very first words that came out of his mouth hidden behind that weird-ass mask, and boy did that get the lioness hyped more than she'd been in a while.
Rules. Explanations. Goals. Okay, yeah, she had that down pat and would keep them in mind. Quirks allowed. Yes. Don't hurt anybody too much. Fair enough. At least she could go a little HAM, right? Right. Thus she found her teammate. A... curious looking girl. Maybe a little dumb in the brain but, hey, first impressions weren't often correct ones.
"Sorry, Heidi, but you're wrong by give or take four-point-one thousand miles," Jasmine answered, glancing at her teammate, quietly sizing her up. "Ember."
You won't see me or the flag.
The lioness quirked a curious brow at the statement. The implication was clear - she was capable of hiding from sight. Considering that the area they were in made that pretty fucking difficult using normal means, the young Noir assumed it was with the help of her quirk. Alright, fair enough. That meant she likely wouldn't have to worry about defense and would be able to focus fully on offense.
Just how she liked it.
Jasmine raised her hands and intertwined her own fingers, stretching and moaning when several joints cracked and popped back into place. Sparks crackled along her fingertips, releasing miniature explosions as she warmed her body up, "Oh, well... suffice it to say you will see me. And the other teams' flags," she said, offering a playful wink as she fixed her headband up.
The next few minutes passed by like a blur as Jasmine investigated the teams present and how everybody was acting. Introductions were taking place, people getting to know each other, trying to come up with a plan, decide on who to attack... all small things of that nature. Jasmine sighed; you know, under normal circumstances she'd comply, likely do something very similar. But today? She figured she'd save everyone the trouble.
Especially since it seemed like a Limp Bizkit song kept playing in her head.
Smirking, the blonde hopped in place a few times, punching the air in quick succession to warm up. Before long, she lifted both of her hands into the air and released a sizable explosion above herself to shake the area a little. Her eyes red, grin wild, she was plenty sure that caught everyone's attention.
"Let me save all of you kiddos the trouble. I'm right here," she raised her hand, motioning for the other students to approach, "Come at me."

"It's nice to meet you." She said politely, smiling behind her helm, but nodding her head t show some indication of emotion. She listened to what he had to say about his quirk, then the plan that he was wanting to put into effect and brought her hand to her chin. They wouldn't have much time to prepare, judging from the others attitudes, so they should probably go with something relatively simple. She cursed not bringing Robodog with her for this... but it seemed they would have to do without this time around.
"So you can create and control diamonds... interesting... If I need to fight we could combine your diamonds with my Radio pulse wave... it could act like shrapnel and cause more damage if we need it too... Otherwise, I don't think there's very much we could do in terms of combined effort. As for the flag, I can easily put one of the earpieces on it and track that, but again my range is limited, so we couldn't get too far away from it without me losing track of it. There are security cameras though, so if we get too far out of range we could just use those. The problem is, if we go on the offensive, then we need to worry about the other team getting our flag to their base before we can intercept them... I think, to start with we should go full defense. I know Jasmine is a bit of a hot head, so she'll be going on the offensive, and we don't want to meet her head to head. We stay by our flag, create a secure defense with your diamonds and the security cameras. Once they wear themselves out, I'll be able to see where all their flags are, then we can go full offense." It was so much easier to be confident when her face was covered and her voice was coming out of the speakers in her ears. Normally she'd be stumbling over her own words and be quite incoherent... but this? She might not be strong but this was her perfect setting. She could let lose, and safely use her quirk as much as she needed and...
"Are those..." She stopped as the eyes the massive mechanical beings at the bottom of the forts, a smirk crossing her features.
"Our trump cards..." She muttered, glancing back towards Jasmine who had just shouted out a challenge to all of them then and there... but she and Diamond Knight had already walked too far away from the group to properly respond to her challenge, and that was probably for the best.

so put that ring away and cash it in Ah, the imperial system. "Miles, huh? Let me bet the rest of my money on American then." That explained the uppity attitude and fuck the world vibes. A refreshing taste after dealing with demure locals. Ember, as she called herself, befitting her whether it was a hero alias or given name, exuded confidence. Eyes ahead, shoulders squared, and a smirk already celebrating surefire victory—this chick was a star. And stars needed to shine. Her own tank top clung tight to her skin, not for ease of movement, but to minimize the rectangular imprint right above her gut. Dangling from her lanyard was a humble video camera, its red flashing light lost to her quirk. She hoped her partner wasn't too set on winning, because Heidi was gearing up to play a whole nother game. Brows shot up at the mini fireworks display illuminating her frame. Loud pops and quiet blazes dove in and out. She waited for her attention to divert to the other teams before tinkering with the unseen. Even without looking, the hidden camerawoman could navigate the controls, angling up and zooming into the blonde's fearless face. Years of practice had given her good intuition on where to point an invisible lens. Standing before her was a bombastic figure with a flashy quirk, a flavorful blend of charisma and edginess that the internet would lap up in seconds. But the show didn't stop there. Careful to keep steady, she prayed the internal mic was sensitive enough to capture the height of teenage recklessness. A bit of chest-thumping before their opening number. Grinning like a fool, Heidi pointed the end of the pole at the brazen artist painting lovely targets on their backs. "Step right up! Team Yellow's flag is ripe for the picking." Cue a round of flag-waving to get the message across. A quick, visual survey of the field told her the other teams were actually trying. What a buncha nerds. If she wanted to fill the frames with as much action as possible, she needed to draw the fights here, to their fort, where she wouldn't have to squint too hard to know who went where. That meant incentivizing these punchy cosplayers to come to them. None of that defense bullshit. Given Ember's revving engine, no doubt she'd fly off the moment Geist said go. No no, that wouldn't do. Wrapping the nape of her neck and around her crown, Heidi transformed the headband from lifeless rag into stylish bandana. Above her temple, a floofed up knot tied the whole look together. She reciprocated the wink with one of her own. "Riling them up? Then let's raise the stakes."Again, she doubled down on her offer of a prize, letting everyone know these weren't empty promises. Sunny hues billowed over their heads as she exercised one more wave. "First one to land a solid punch on her wins this baby right here!" The stage was in their corner.

Eli was so relieved this was a partner exercise. If it wasn't, he would be extremely screwed. Lucky for him, Radio Tower was able to do most of the things he requested. Plus she knew what Eli's strengths were just from hearing the explanation of his quirk! This girl clearly knew what she was doing and was giving it her all, so Eli decided to do the same.
As much as Eli loved going on the offensive, he knew his partner was right. The duos best course of action was defensive, that was their biggest strength, and it'd be best to use it. "I agree, defense is definitely the best route to go at first, let the other teams take each other out some, then hit 'em hard! I don't know any of our opponents excluding Sean, and I've never seen his quirk, so as far as information on their offensive styles I can't really contribute much. Going defense is a good plan though, so I'm definitely good with that, but we should think about who we're gonna go after first for when we switch to offense. Obviously we need to be flexible, but having a primary objective wouldn't hurt you know?" Eli began to climb the stares up to the top floor, ignoring the explosion that was set off by Jasmines quirk as well as her challenge. "I would say going with either Green or Blue team would be best first, I've never met the explosion girl, but I've heard stories about how strong she is, it'd be best if we saved her for last most likely, or joined in as another team attacked. Again this is all whenever we feel it's best to switch gears to offensive." Eli said as he reached the top floor, Radio Tower seemed to be distracted by something that was out of Eli's view, so he waited for her to continue climbing the structure.
Once Radio Tower got to his level he made a diamond wall at the top of the stares. "Once someone gets here, you can use your radio waves to destroy this wave if you think that's our best option, same goes for any structures that I make alright?" He said as his usual sword and shield materialized, "Plus if you want anything made, let me know." Eli waited for Haru to do anything she needed to with their flag, and then he surrounded it in a hollow cylinder. "Hope you're ready to win Radio Tower!"

It only took a few words from her partner for her smile to grow smaller and smaller. No plan, other than that he intended to go out and fight. No introduction. No explanation of his quirk. No suggestions for how their skills could complement each other. By the time he had finished, she’d fallen into a deadpan stare. Emi knew damn well that she was at a disadvantage on her own. Her combat experience was close to zero, and she had no idea what to expect from most of the class. All she had on her side was strategy, and a little time. Time that she was wasting internally questioning her partner’s intelligence. Time that she couldn’t afford to waste any more.
She took in a deep breath and walked away from him, having decided that chewing out the boy wasn’t going to do them any favours. She held out an open palm, forming another piece of crystalline chaos to match the size of the other two. Making another flag wasn’t in her skillset, but she would make damn sure that their would-be attackers would have a hard time finding it. Decoy #2 would be set down, and she had begun to make the third as she turned to face the boy.
“Alright, so, almost nothing you said was helpful. Try again. Actually, don’t. I’ll handle the planning,” she said, in a tone that suggested she didn’t trust him to think of anything. “You make it sound like I’m going to say here and sit pretty by myself, but that’s not what’s happening. We’re both staying on defence. That’s the only plan that makes sense right now. Nobody’s going to leave their flag alone, which means that every tower is going to have at least one fighter on it. Two, if that team is smart. If you leave to go and attack, that’s our power split two ways, and one of us – you - is probably going to fight two people. You get it? In this game, the first person to attack loses.” On a basic level, of course. She didn’t – or couldn’t – take into account the strengths of their enemies and their quirks, but she didn’t want to confuse him.
By the time she had finished, a third and a fourth decoy had been set on their tower. Challenges were issued by their neighbour, each offering their own taunts to the teams. If nothing else, they’d made it perfectly clear that they intended to stay on defence. Blue Team would probably have one attacker: Saionji had made it very clear that he enjoyed a good fight in their last meeting. Red Team couldn’t be accounted for, but that was fine – they were the only team without a direct bridge to them, and weren’t a concern for the time being.
She pointed to the yellow tower. “See that? That’s bait, and only brainless fish take bait. They want some hard-headed idiots to run in and try to fight two on one. We should be thinking more like them. But better.” Their goading was cute, but Emi could one-up them. The fifth decoy was created. She had time to make more, but the girls had inspired her. She raised the flag bearing crystal with nothing more than her mind, placing it towards the north-western corner of their tower. One decoy was placed beside it, and she stood in front of them, placing her palm against the ground. “So we’re going to wait. Sooner or later, somebody’s going to try their luck with Green Team. I’d rather it be later.” She was making another crystal creation, but this one was different. The decoys and the flag’s shield had been jagged and more naturally formed, but whatever she had in mind was made up of clean shapes. Some sort of cube, though it was half her size and rapidly growing.
“Either way, this is our fort and we’ll defend it. I’ve already set this place up to keep our flag safe. The smart fighters will go somewhere else, just the way I like it. The stupid and the brave will try to siege us anyway, which is why you need to stick around. This is how we win.” A rectangle had joined to the top of the cube’s back, and two more joined the edges. If there was any confusion as to what she had in mind, it would be erased once she sat in her oversized chair. Unlike some, she didn’t need words to send a message.
“We wait, defend our fort and let the others wear themselves down.” She neglected to mention that she really couldn’t afford to leave by that point. All the salt she had created had already eaten into her reserves a little. She could still fight, of course – the nature of her quirk meant that she hadn’t used nearly as much as it appeared – but to leave the safety of the fort would mean disaster. It was good, then, that it seemed they had the most developed defences. Four decoy salt crystals in a large diamond in front of one throne, and two more decoys nestled behind it – the most north-western one hiding their treasure.
She pulled a sachet out of her sleeve and tore it open. White grains fell out and into her mouth, and she sucked her cheeks together as she swallowed. It didn’t matter how many times she had to do it: eating raw salt would never be a pleasant experience, but it was a necessary one. The salt she created had been pulled out of her own body. Fun fact: The human body needed salt to survive. It wasn’t going to do anything to replenish her sodium levels mid-fight – she knew it would enter her system too late for that. It was purely a preventative measure that would ensure she didn’t kill herself if she overdid things. And, perhaps, it would come off as confidence to their rivals, to see her relaxed enough to have a snack just before they started.
“You got that? Just stay here, and you can beat down anybody that gets here. Easy.”1024 words | OOC: For the sake of clarity, let's say that Emi's throne is where that question mark block/rainbow prism is on Green Team's upper level. |

Alright. Saito did not enjoy being spoken to like that. Who the hell did she think he was? Some drooling 8-year-old? Sure, maybe it was unfair of him to think that she’d be alright by herself while he went out dishing out ass-kickings like it was seconds-are-free day at the soup shelter; but Saito knew what Saito could do best and that was beating the ever-loving shit out of people. He felt his expression harden as she barked orders and couldn’t help but speak up when she’d finished her strategizing. “Obviously, you ain’t never played capture the flag before, princess. So lemme explain a pretty basic concept, since you think that just cause I ain’t the smarted gerbil in the pen that I’m useless to your little game plan.” Without turning to face it, he pointed his thumb at the yellow castle. “If we just sit here with our thumbs up our asses, they’re gonna win. You don’t win this game by sitting around waiting for your opponents, you win by getting out there and getting a flag.”
With that, Saito shrugged off his hoodie, tossing it with his shoes, leaving him in jeans and a short-sleeved shirt with bare feet. He continued to warm-up, knowing there was very, very little time left, doing some dynamic stretches and deep, practiced yoga poses. He may have been a dunderhead, but god forbid anyone plucks him out of the picture before he even gets to play. This whole thing just punted his mood into the shitter. He wasn’t mad, just a bit turned off by the exercise now. So, with a irritable sigh and a scratch of his head, he crossed his arms and looked over to his ‘teammate’. “But fine, if you’re so smart, we’ll stick with your plan.” He walked over to her, his intimidating physique letting him tower over the girl that was only a little shorter than him. “Do your sittin’ pretty. I ain’t gonna let anyone up here. If they try, I’ll knock their lights out. But I ain’t some omnipresent genie. If two or more get up, you’re gonna need to actually do something other than make their jobs a bit more time consumin’.” He pulled away and began his painful work of pacing the top level of their base, looking out at the competitors.
Like a big cat that’s just been shoved into a cage that was way too small and left to stare at the fresh meat piled outside its door.

Combat Lesson: Block Fort Flag Brawl
|
The irony of two people with opposing elements being put on the same team was not lost on Sean. The blue-haired boy found it pretty amusing. Still, that was not to say that fire and water could not work well together. The two elements worked together a lot better than something like water and oil, which simply would not mix at all. At least the fire could heat the water enough for it to become scalding. Sean knew from firsthand experience just how much boiling water could hurt.
Of course, this was completely irrelevant in this scenario. Both Sean and Saionji would be working together, but the two would not be attacking together. One would play the role of attacker, while the other would be the defender. The water would act as the shield that protects the flag, while the fire would act as the sword that strikes any nearby opponent who would come for that flag.
"Sounds good, Blazing! You'll be the sword, and I'll be the shield!" When his ally asked about which team to attack first, Sean just shrugged. "I'm not sure. If you want, you can go for whichever team approaches us first. Or you can pick which team you want to fight. At the end of the day, the goal is the same. To defend our flag and capture theirs!"
When Saionji asked about exactly how Sean intended to defend their flag, the blue-haired boy grinned. Taking out his two 1-liter bottles, Sean showed them to his partner. "I'll use these to form a water wall. It's a shame I could not bring more water with me, but these will do just fine. I can compress the water enough to make the wall about as tough as light metal. That should be enough to keep the weaker attacks at bay."
Sean was then startled by the sudden noise of an explosion. He turned his head in Jasmine's direction, hearing the blonde girl's daring words. Sean admired her spirit and confidence as she basically challenged everyone to come at her. Thankfully, she was at the opposite end on the course, so Sean would not have to worry about her. Not yet, at least. Even if she was at one of the adjacent forts, Sean would not come to her anyway. His job was to defend, not to attack. Sean yelled back to Jasmine as loud as he could. "Yeah! That's the spirit, Jaz! Best of luck!"
Sean then turned back to Saionji and grinned. "Best of luck to you too, Blazing! I have faith in you, partner. Let's show everyone what we can do!" Sean was looking forward to having fun with this exercise, but that did not mean that he was not focusing on winning this. On the contrary, he was determined to seize victory, and to show the other teams that the fire and water duo were not to be underestimated. He was going to put his all in this, and he knew Saionji would do the same.
