WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy The other barracks was, seemingly, of a much simpler design. A simple elongated building, about twenty meters long. The door to the entrance was completely open, swinging back and forth in the wind. The hinges were grinding against themselves in a horrifying metallic screeching noise, echoing down the halls of the barracks. The windows had their metallic, protective shudders closed. The lights were completely off, meaning you could see absolutely nothing down the hall. Once the door was approached, a terrible stench met whoever got close. It was a stench akin to raw meat having been out the fridge overnight. Nothing so bad it could make one vomit, but certainly not a smell you'd want to be around for long. Atmosphere wise, the whole thing felt cold, exactly like a fridge. There was a condensation from some foreign liquid on the walls and floor, making the whole thing exceptionally slippery to walk on. The way the barracks layout functioned, there was a stair at the end of each walkthrough, taking personnel down an additional level. On the first floor were the living quarters. There was siderooms with couches, an oven, pressure boilers for tea, chocolate or otherwise. General decent living conditions. On the second and third floor, one had the sleeping quarters. Divided into small rooms with tripple layered bunk beds. There were enough bunk beds squeezed in to allow more than fourty soldiers to sleep per floor. Granted, they didn't exactly have the best of room, but for a quick-to-establish underground base, it was more than acceptable until proper tents could be erected. The fourth floor had the workout area. Unlike the upper floors, the corridor here took up the entire space. Weights, holders for pullups and even a benchpress. The final floor was the containment area. Whenever a soldier had been misbehaving, or an individual had been acquired for questioning, they'd be placed down in this quarantine area. It was down there, where they'd allegedly find subject X320.
Ahead of them, they had quite a few obstacles to overcome. They needed to establish some kind of light to be able to venture into the depths; A cellphone's light could potentially be used as a last resort, but the coverage to venture into the unknown would be less than ideal. They needed to establish some kind of formation, as the corridors on the upper floors were relatively slim, meaning that squeezing past each other wouldn't be completely easy. Lastly, they had several side doors to the corridor on the upper floors. Were they going to search them for potential hostiles, or hurry past, risking ambushes or other nasty surprises later on?... One thing was certain; They had their jobs cut out for them...

Hate. Hate. Hate. Kill. Kill. Hate. Kill. Blood. Blood. Punch. Blood.
Hatred burned in her veins again as she walked through the camp; she paid no mind to who was in front of her or behind her, at least so long as they didn't try to stop her. She knew, barely, where she was supposed to go; she came to this stupid, stupid, stupid event really, really late, but she had found a map. it wasn't like she memorized it, but she saw it almost yesterday, and she knew what specific barracks to go to. The hate burned in her blood; it almost hurt, but at the same time, it made her feel alive.
It was so good being alive.
As she all but stomped through the military camp, she scratched idly at her head, not even noticing that she was. The only thing she cared for was her target, or at least, her first one. X320... what kind of a name was that anyway?! The name of a bitch... the name of a dead bitch~. Her face would be so beautiful broken... her wonderful blood would look so great pooling on the ground~!
She will pay for making this weird drug... and then that bitch military girl... she'd be next!
Her face was hidden by a plain white mask, on which she had drawn a pair of red, furious eyes made of neon light, but underneath, her grin was ear-to-ear; even in her fury, she so very much loved the idea of making these people pay in the most violent ways for what happened. The thoughts, the urges fueled her, sweeter than candy. She was gonna kill, kill, kill!
Hated, glee, fury, happiness all burned inside of her like fire, coursing through her veins like lightning, making her feel alert, powerful... not worthless... a feeling that she could get high on! And the only thing in her way was a door. Luzia pushed that door open excitedly, blinking at the darkness and snorting, throwing her hand up, bright yellow neon surrounding it. She wasn't afraid of the darkness, not when her quirk was light.

Sometimes the only pay-off for having any faith Is when it's tested again and again everyday I'm still comparing your past to my future It might be your wound but they're my sutures Clawing. Let me out.Naoru closed his eyes for a moment and dropped his hand back to his side when he noticed he reached for his scalp to scratch it. As soon as his fingers touched the soft feathers hidden under his hairline, he flinched away. There was an itch he needed to scratch, but he had more important things to focus on right now. He wore his white Aura around himself in the same manner he left the tent with. It covered his torso and his arms like a coat, a hood formed around the back of his neck, ready to cover his head in case he needed more protection. His left arm was deformed by now, about three times bigger than his real hand, fingers forming into the claws of a monster. Even with that appearance, Naoru was anything but threatening with the serene confidence he stood in front of the building where their target was contained. He felt somewhat alien in his own skin. This level of assurance was new, and he had no idea where his conviction that everything will be alright came from. The incredible stench emanating from the building’s door was nauseating when it first hit him. It could have been worse, he had to admit it, but it was still pretty uncomfortable that he couldn’t take it without a wrinkle of his nose. The creaking of the door as it was blown on its hinges by the wind just made it all the more like a scene in a horror movie. Even if the area wasn’t spooky, it would have been bad enough already with two unknown figures, both masked, one seemingly less stable than the other. The girl that let out that shattering scream back in the tent, the pink haired that Naoru didn’t know, was under the white mask with the painted red eyes. He was mildly fascinated by the show of abilities, as he remembered that the mask was markless before, but now sported the makeshift eyes that surely weren’t drawn by simple paint. Her hurried steps and the erratic movements kindled caution in him. There was no tell of her intentions, as she had not spoken a word since they left the tent, but Naoru was always paranoid until proven otherwise. Scratching. He didn’t know the rest that followed either. The one with the bone sword and the skull mask appeared frightening enough, but the calmer posture was showing experience. He assumed this person might know what she is doing, but right now, he had no idea what that might be. She seemed like an experienced hero, a pro at the field. More than that, the voice speaking from behind the mask ringed just a little bit familiar. He couldn’t exactly place a finger on it. The other U.A. student, the one with purple hair that introduced himself as Kogami, was another unknown factor, but at least his good intentions were clear. Even back in the tent he stated out loud that he did not wish to kill, and wouldn’t let anyone kill either, if possible. Naoru shared the sentiment, although he was less philosophical about it. If there was a chance they could get out of this without anyone dying, there was no question what route they will be going with. Kogami’s suggestions weren’t followed through though, so four of them ended up going after Xezo - or X320, as the others called her -, while the other two went for the antidote. This might be an overkill, but Naoru knew that he was at least there to be a voice of reason in case someone lost their mind… Clawing.Curiously, he turned to the latest addition to the group. The young woman with the mask made of make-up. Jeanne Emeriss. She appeared to attach herself to the group, intending to document what was happening underground. He wasn’t sure if she was a quirkless civilian or not, but her bravery was worth a praise, although also slightly foolish . She seemed to be standing close to him among the members of their group for a reason that escaped Naoru’s attention. “Please be careful, and stay close. It might get dangerous.” He quickly learned that it would be meaningless to tell her not to come. Even if she wasn’t a member of press, she seemed to be stubborn and calm enough, someone that was fully aware what she was getting into. He was no one to tell her otherwise, but at least he could watch out for her with more caution. He faced Kogami, waiting for a response, as if asking if he was ready to head into the building. When he got the affirmative, he stepped to the door as well. The pink-haired girl was at the front, already through the door. Even before Naoru could wonder about how they would light their way through the corridors, she raised her hand that literally gave off a colored light. Naoru tilted his head upon the sight. Was that her quirk? Could she create light? That was, admittedly, the perfect quirk to have in this environment. Now, if only someone has a heater… Now he regrets just a little bit that he told Robin to go for the antidote. And he also regrets that even though his Aura was posing as a coat, it didn’t give off any warmth that any other fabric would. He could feel the coldness of the air through it, which made him shiver. “Will you be alright?” He asked quietly from Jeanne, who was probably still near, and would be able to feel the cold air herself. The corridor was spooky even with the added light of the pink-haired girl – or especially with that – and the narrow hallway just made it harder to navigate in a group. They were facing with the unknown, and Naoru hated the unknown. There were just too many things they didn’t know about their situation, though they knew this was the one building they needed to search for Xezo. The underground barracks. There was nothing else to go by. The pink-haired girl was to the front, sp Naoru turned to Kogami, him being the only one with an actual face, and not a mask, except the reporter, but he also glanced toward the skull-masked person. “I am unsure if there is a point to search every floor, but caution might not hurt. There must be a reason why this place is in this state.” He mentioned around, as if he meant the darkness, cold and stench as a whole. Was it only to lock down the subject? Something must have happened, something they weren’t aware of. Or was this air needed to contain the subject? He raised his right hand to his scalp, but dropped it again with a wondering huff. This feeling was a little bugging. Led by curiosity, and to possibly get at least one answer to the growing list of questions that rotated in his head, he tried to open a door at the right side of the corridor, the first one closest to the entrance, to peek inside. "CAN YOU SMELL IT? IT'S CALLING FOR US."It was the smell of rot, death, decay. It welcomed the both of them. Their minds intertwined in the bond they shared. The raw meat, the blood, the stale bread, the rotten fruit. . . They did all they could to survive. They ate any and all things they could just to make it to the next day. They were always hungry, and never satisfied. They were always trying to survive. Why would this be any different? She followed them, the boy who broke vending machines, the pink haired girl, and the boy who happened to like cats. The reporter, or journalist, whoever she was, she was the real threat. With her around, Kasey had to watch herself, careful to not make a move that would be soon regretted. Here, she had to play the role of a hero, someone who could make a difference, but to kill in the sight of that other woman would only tarnish the name she was trying to make. She needed to play it carefully. She needed to make sure none could know. It was then that her phone was pinged. Looking into the darkness, as other girl lit up the place, Kasey took out her own phone for a light. It was one of many, and it was the one Kanna had given her. "God fucking dammit." she thought to herself, tapping the screen to turn on the flashlight, only to catch a glimpse of the chat. Rin: I warned Ryuusei-kun of the military potentially having done some shady things. I just received a text where he confirms that something is going on. Is anyone near the combat area? Can anyone tell us whats happening over there? Elise: I'm at the armory with Arata-sensei and Tetsuko, judging from the hostility of the soldiers and that nasty chopper flying overhead things aren't looking that pleasant over here either. But I got some good news everyone! Help is on the way, or to say it in the words of our Principal: “This is the principal! All students are allowed to use their quirk in self defense! Help is coming, use what you learned and hold on. And give them hell.” Kanna: At least you ain't trapped inside a sinking ship but hey... We'll make it out, no worries "All of the children are in danger." Kasey thought to herself, closing the application before placing the phone on her forehead, the skull helm around it, forming to protect the phone, allowing her to use it just like a head lamp. She ran up to catch up with Naoru as well as the girl with the painted mask. Her feet would feel the liquid under her toes, only to muddy up the bandages that wrapped and protected her feet. "What is this, blood?" she asked, not daring to look to check. Whatever it was, it was going to take it's toll on them. It might as well have been poison, or acid, or just more of the drug they ingested. "Monsters hide in the deep of their den. We need to go all the way inside, meaning whatever it has set up for us, we're going to run into." She spoke to the boy, only to get a tighter grip on her weapons. "We aren't the only ones in danger either, the faster we finish here, the more time we'll have to save the others as well." She spoke again, advancing with them, following behind, careful to place herself in the middle of the group. She could have them all in reach, preventing anything, or anyone from sneaking up on them. But it also meant she wasn't putting herself in immediate danger. It wasn't heroic in any sense, but to take the lead without a quirk to really see, was putting herself at a major risk. The other girl had her own neon quirk, and the boy had his own aura. "People pay for experimentation on people with valuable quirks." she would tell him, "Mostly for extraction. Say you have regeneration, your quirk would be useful to old people who are dying, or someone with a quirk that pains your body." She spoke from experience, her story, now reduced to a nameless tale. "We don't need to know why it happened, we only need to find out what we're facing, and how to stop it." she would slow down to stare into his face, as well as glace over at the other boy. "You're both students, you both need to watch out for anything lethal. I can only prevent so much. But if the time comes, I'll stop whatever it is. I'll protect you." The students. It was why she got suspended. It was why she had her job. She was going to protect every last one of them, even if it killed her. She was not going to lose any more of them. She was not going to put anyone at risk. She was going to be a hero, or she was going to die trying. ~ Word Count: 848 ~ |

With the appearance of the reporter that was tagging along for the sake of finding out the truth and whatnot, Kogami wasn't too sure of the idea of having such a person come along with them. The opponent that they were going to face was a bit dangerous, along with Kogami and the others having a time limit of beating this person. Not only that, but they were also relying on the others to get the antidote in time. With all of these obstacles that they were facing, the last thing that Kogami needed was to have to worry about civilians that would rather run towards the danger instead of running away from it.
Even though Kogami was technically a civilian himself, he was technically a student at U.A and was training to become a hero. With this fact, he hoped that whoever they decided to follow behind would make the right choice in keeping them at a distance. If not, Kogami would have to speak up a little more in rebellion against the decision. But he didn't have time to waste to try to hold the person back, not now anyway.
Looking to Naoru, Kogami gave an acknowledging nod to the man as the group started to enter the barracks, but Kogami was soon met with the terrible stench after.
"The smell is terrible...."
He had no idea what the smell was, but there was a good chance that it could have came from the liquid itself that was secreted from the experimental quirk user. The fourth floor was definitely the main destination of the group in order to face their foe, but the numerous amount of problems started to poke its ugly head. The fact that the light was barely available made Kogami wonder about the conditions of the place in general, as well as how narrow it was.
Kogami purposely took the lower back side of the corridor, being the last person to follow through and listening to what was going about with the conversations between the other two. The masked stranger didn't say anything peculiar of the sort, but Kogami had his own ideas.
"It's good to take note that its possible that the quirk user could be sensitive to light, could be the result of the quirk experiments that made this person this way. Either way, it'll be apparent when we see how they react to our friend in the front. "
But hearing the woman's voice, Kogami would wonder if he knew her from somewhere.
"You sound a bit familiar, by the way....."
But maybe that wasn't the time for that either.
"As long as we coordinate the usage of our quirks, as well as finding out what holes or weaknesses we discover in what this tortured soul has, we can probably stop it and maybe break apart anything that could make this experiment repeated. Mind control of the masses exposed? It's a biological weapon, basically terrorism, nothing good can come from playing around or studying something like that. Even a student like me knows better..."

WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy The light illuminated the hallway. From the darkness at the back, the neon reflected on something; It seemed to have the shape of a pair of eyes, quickly vanishing further into the barracks. The sticky liquid near the walls was quickly revealed to be something foreign entirely. It was like a small, meat colored membrane. In certain areas it seemed to be pulsating, as if alive. In others, it had withered into a dark red clump, rotting and dying, giving off that horrible stench. There was scratching at the doors to the main hallway, faint and subtle. Could their mind be playing tricks on them already, or was there something behind the doors, awaiting them to step deeper into the dark? Whatever their choice, they needed to come up with a congo-line set up. Someone had to take the front, someone had to take the back. Squeezing past each other and changing the line's makeup once inside was definitely possible, but without entering one of the side compartments, it would be borderline impossible to create the space. Especially with this strange, meat-like mucus membrane taking up space on the walls as well. The membrane itself must've seemed alien to them. There was nothing in the normal, mortal realm that could create this. No animals, no insects, nothing. If any of them had any indication of biology, the make up of the membrane could be scarily reminiscent of a placenta. As if this entire barracks had been turned into a birthing ground for... something. Or perhaps that was simply the result of a lively imagination?
Before the group managed to get more time to truly discuss or take any action, a distant scream was heard, echoing through the walls from somewhere deeper in the barracks. A woman's scream. It sounded a lot like Yoshi's voice... "I refuse! You belong to us! Get out of my head, get out, get out, get out, arrrghh!!! Whatever was happening here, the group was on a timer. The more time they wasted, the more iu danger they would be of losing their minds. The desire to scratch their scalps was only the first symptom. Now that they had been granted light, the second symptom began taking it's shape. Once light was cast at a corner, there would be the constant sensation that something had moved around the corner, hiding from the light. As if the shadows had been given life, fleeing from the neon. Behind corners, behind objects, behind everything. It would, to the ones affected, seem like the whole world around them was coming to life; With only one intent. To assault them when they least expected it. Perhaps some would begin to realize another truth. The longer they took, the more these symptoms would kick into gear, making progress more and more difficult. The sooner they could wrap this up, the better.
From below, right after the screaming had come to an end, the sounds seemed unwilling to stop. Something shambling across a floor; Objects being knocked over as something too big for a passage was trying to squeeze it's way through. Grunts that sounded far from humane... What in the world had happened here??

She didn't notice it at first, but now that they were mentioning it, it smelled pretty bad. Maybe she was used to bad smells, or maybe she was just so bitter right now, but when she looked over her shoulder, hearing their reactions, she couldn't help but take an experimental sniff... and when she did, she shuddered in revulsion. She held her hand to her face to try to block it, but that reminded her she had a mask, making it a lot harder. At that reminder, she just shook it off; it was a little worse than what she was used to, but she could still tolerate it... though breathing through her mouth made it easier.
Whatever this was, it wasn't blood.
Luzia scratched at her head again, not realizing it, but still enjoying the sensation. She couldn't relish in it, though; not here, not now she had something to do. Someone to make pay. She was only half-paying attention to the people behind her; she was keeping a picture of where they were, but she wasn't really listening to them. One idiotic student wanted to look through every floor, which was one of the stupidest things she ever heard. Another student wanted to coordinate or whatever... the idea was almost funny; her working with a U.A. person. There was no way she'd ever do that... although she did appreciate him pointing out how cool her quirk was. At least, that was how she took the comment about the enemy being sensitive to light... how else was she supposed to take it?
The third one, the girl with the white hair, made her grimace a little under her mask at her talk of 'experimentation'. Luzia counted herself lucky that she never ran into someone like that... but her quirk, while pretty, probably wasn't as useful as regeneration anyway, so it made sense. She liked the way she talked, though, 'cause she was right; why doesn't matter. All that matters is who to make pay, and how fast it was done.
She smiled under her featureless mask - minus the imprinted neon - but that faded almost immediately as the stink of this place shoved back into her nose. She ignored the cold even easier than the stench, stepping further and further into the place with hideous squelching beneath her boots. Each step, every step, every single one! With a grunt of frustration, she suddenly stopped, looking down at the floor... and then the walls... and then the ceiling? Ugh! Everything was covered in... some sort of flesh?! What the hell was this crap? Was this a quirk? What kind of sick, horrible quirk made this happen...? She almost regretted coming in now... but no, no, she had to kill these fuckers... they had to pay!
Luzia gasped, and suddenly the yellow in her hand turned into an intimidating blood red, and with her other, she pulled out a knife that she had... borrowed earlier. "Who's there?!" She growled those words, brandishing her knife as something moved just outside of the light. And then something else! She whirled left, right, and then to the front again, matching each set of eyes that appeared or disappeared, growling in murderous anger and frustration each time, but by the fourth time, she stopped herself, almost chuckling under her breath. She knew what was happening now. More people spying on her, more people looking at her, judging her, hating her, wanting to hurt her.
Here, too? She was still angry, she was still ready for a fight, but she let herself relax just a little, just enough to loosen. Whatever these things were, they didn't like her light, and this feeling... it wasn't anything new. It was her life. Just as soon as she had focused herself again, she gasped, wide-eyed when she heard a scream, and a voice. A familiar one... that wasn't... no, it wasn't... NO!
"NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!"
Luzia yelled one word, just one, over and over and over again as she suddenly bolted down the hall, forgetting or ignoring her 'company' squishing flesh under her shoes as she desperately dashed towards the hall. She couldn't, not like that, not now, not NOW! The Painter skidded to a halt when she saw the staircase, and actually slipped a little bit, skidding across the fluid on the ground before stopping, rushing to the stairs and grabbing the sides, looking down into the cold darkness.
"FUCK! NO!"
She snarled in frustration when the screaming stopped. That was HER kill! HER'S! SHE was supposed to make that damned woman pay! She snarled again, holding her shining red hand out to the darkness, making sure the damned eyes stayed away from her before pointing her hand down into the abyss. She was letting her breaths out in angry huffs, but they slowly stopped when she heard... something. Something... big? It didn't even sound like it was walking.... Even though she was still vengefully curious, she couldn't help but be creeped out a little bit.
What the hell was this place?

Sometimes the only pay-off for having any faith Is when it's tested again and again everyday I'm still comparing your past to my future It might be your wound but they're my sutures He pulled out his phone only to see if Sutetchi answered to his previous message and notify him that something was going on, when he noticed all the incoming messages on the school chat. Everyone was in danger. Not only the combat zone had became a battleground, but the whole of Semper Fi seemed to have turned upside down. Even the principal allowed them all to use their abilities in self-defense, which made it obvious how deep in trouble they were. Stay safe, everyone!Pocketing the phone, he listened well to what Kogami and the bone-masked person was saying. “So we have to go to the deepest ends.” Naoru nodded, agreeing that the target must be at the deeper parts of the building. It made sense. Even if she wasn’t confined, it is logical to get as far away from the entry point as possible if she was hiding away in her den. But what would await them on their route there, no one knew. He had to agree with Kogami too that however they looked at this situation, it seemed to be biological terrorism, especially targeting quirk users. Did even the government allow this to happen, or did the military do this on their own accord? “Is the country against us?” He wondered out loud, saddening from the possibility. Hearing the bone-masked going on about experiments and especially mentioning regenerating abilities, he raised his head and looked at her, eyes wide, as if terrified. He was one of those, with that ability, and that was exactly the reason he hated hospitals and doctors with a passion. Getting paler even to his own standards, he nodded in understanding. “We need to stop this. Both this person, and the experiment. She might not even want to be a part of this, and yet...” He bit his lips. He was never good at expressing his exact feelings with words, instead, he was logical and calculating. But now, all kinds of emotions were whirling inside, and he wasn’t sure he had as strong a grasp on his body’s control as he wanted to think. Clawing. Let me out.He scratched at the soft feathers on the back of his head again. “It is alright, my defense is actually rather good.” He said, self-praise alien on his tongue, when she offered to protect them as U.A. students. He idly wondered how she knew where they came from, but then remembered that they all talked about it back in the tent, introduced themselves as part of U.A. too. That must have been it, he decided. “My Aura can act as an armor, but please do protect the others, if possible.” He mentioned toward not only Kogami, but the civilian reporter at their side as well. Even if his white quirk seemed to be cloth only, it was already ready to be hardened into stone at any moment. “Let us hurry.” He settled behind their light-user in line, going in and staying as second in their little raid. Even the pink-haired girl seemed to be paying attention to their conversation, seeing how she tilted her head back towards them as if listening to their words. As their lead stopped, so did Naoru. He wondered what caused her to halt, but seeing her movements, it was probably the environment itself. It was horrible indeed. The soft, almost flesh-like thing that covered the walls, the constant movement as if it was breathing, as if something moved in the shadows right there. He closed his eyes and shook his head to clear it. No luck. This vertigo, these movements at the corner of his eyes remained. It... actually wasn’t new. He remembered seeing similar movements when he was too tired to form his Aura to his will, but tried it anyway. It was a trick his brain pulled all the time. He remembered the psychedelic spots and the darkness that followed, but this seemed to be just a tad bit different. It wasn’t affecting only him. That must mean it wasn’t cause by his own Aura at least, though that didn’t mean it wouldn’t be followed by fainting. Was it that substance they were covered in as well? No, he shouldn’t jump to conclusions, even though he had jet to strain himself to find better explanation. Seeing the distressed movements of the light-user, Naoru called out, quiet and calm, although terrified himself. “It is okay. We just have to go further ahead. I can go first if you wa---“And then there was the scream. ‘Get out of my head!’Naoru jumped, and looked toward the other end of the hallway, eyes-wide. What the hell? “Was that the sergeant?” That was all he could say before their Light yelled and bolted forward. He swore under his breath, swallowing fear and concentrating on catching up to her. Maybe if he only paid attention to what he needed to do, he wouldn’t be as worried about the moving shadows all around them. It must have been his imagination. It was always his imagination, so there was no time to watch their movement right now. He needed to watch the people who he knew were indeed there. Concentrate on them, the living, breathing things. Not on the wall that seemed to be breathing. ‘Get out of my head!’Just what is going on with this quirk user and the Sergeant? He shuddered, and stopped two steps behind her, in case she suddenly had to backtrack, if there was something waiting below the staircase. There was no way Naoru would be able to see what was down there from his position, but if the light was shining enough, he might be able to catch a glimpse. ‘Get out of my head!’ Let me out. Let me out.Rather than readying his claws to attack, his Aura flared in preparation to be formed into a makeshift shield and hardening if whatever came would attack them first. If he had the time, he might even expand his Aura forward to cover their Light’s front too. That is when an idea came to him. Small ropes formed from the end of his coat, from his Aura, and snaked past the light-user, toward the staircase and further down to try and map out where he couldn’t see. “Do not be surprised, I will try to check what is ahead. Please do not step on those white ropes.” He could expand these ropes to about ten meters before they would stop, but within those ten meters, he would be able to feel what was on the stairs, and possibly at its end, even if the neon light couldn’t reach. Ah. She got it. That made sense. That was kind of funny now that she thought about it. Were that how jokes were formed? "EAT THE SKIN, DEVOUR THEM ALL, KILL THEM."The voice within her screamed, yelling at her, ordering her. But she would not bend to his will, not yet at least. She had been putting off the slight feeling to scratch herself, all the while Setsuna screamed at his own needs, trying to sedate himself. He was losing it, all the while the girl was able to keep calm. Why? Who knew. There was perhaps more questions than the pain could ever answer about their biology, or how they operated. None of it seemed to make sense the further they went on. Kogami mentioned familiarity, something Kasey was not willing to confirm. If he was willing to expose her, then she would be willing to expose the organs within him. Even so, if he would become a liability, all she had to do was not save him. In the eyes of the reporter, simply not being able to save him, would look much better on her end than to kill him outright. But that was a thought for another day. For now, she had to protect everyone, no matter the cost... but if they found out the truth... perhaps she would have to cut her losses. It was not the time for anyone to know who she was. The voice of whomever, whatever the hell her name was, would be heard, to which, Kasey would begin to make her way forward. She had her own light, even if it was just her phone. She needed the girl, and she needed to be kept close. "We're in the belly of a beast." she would say, even if not to answer anyone, it was just her thoughts aloud. As the girl with the light charged forward, Kasey would follow both her and the other student, hoping the others would stay close. If it was what she believed, they were inside some intestines or some digestive track of a monster, a beast, someone who used to be human. Unless they had some kind of quirk that coated the walls. To her, the first seemed more likely. Either way, charging in was to expedite their passage to the heart. They would stop it still, halting the beating. Or perhaps they would find someone there, the one behind all of it. Killing them was going to stop the rest of it. Killing them. They had to die. It was just how it had to go. Then the scream happened, the girl stopped, so did the boy, but Kasey went forward, taking her step down the staircase. The smell bothered her none. The flesh may as well been rotting. She thought nothing of any of it. It was just another day for her. A day, where someone had to die. Her feet would begin to grow and bleed, her toes turning into claws, the bottom growing fangs much like cleats. She jumped upwards, to avoid the ropes the student threw, only to rest upon the wall. "Something is coming. Get behind me." she ordered them. "All I need is better lightning." the flashlight on her forehead would land forward, illuminating the space before her. She could see, but not that far. She had to trust them, all of them. Whatever it was, they were the only ones here close enough to kill whatever was there. "LETS EAT IT. KILL KILL KILL. IT SOUNDS LIKE A BIG MEAL."The voice rang again, but Kasey listened in. "It sounds like it's struggling. Either we're going to have to fight it, or we're going to have to move through it."Belly of the beast. She really hoped it was not stomach acid. That, was something she really did not want to dirty herself with. ~ Word Count: 648 ~ |

As Kogami continued his travels with the rest of the group, he managed to get far enough to see what the source of the green liquid, it seemed to be coming from some sort of pulsating meat. Kogami kept his cool, but he was truly disgusted at the fact that the meat that was hanging and making the drips of liquid all around was still pulsating and active.
"What could have possibly happened here to cause such an abomination? "
Just like before, Kogami was the one that took the backside of the group. It didn't really need to be discussed, he was following behind and watching their backs the entire time. The whole situation made him feel alert and anxious, wondering about the probability for their success for this mission in general.
The scream didn't do him any favours either, prompting him to move a little faster to catch up with the rest of the group to see what caused it. But pretty soon, the sound stopped, with the area itself coming to life even more and causing a bit of madness mentally. Kogami himself had begun to scratch his head just a little bit, frowning at his sudden reflex to do so.
"We don't have much time....."
He raced after the others while following behind, unsure of what awaited him.

WORD COUNT; TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy They were being cautious, yet they had five flights of stairs to travel down to reach their destination, and a timer ticking in the back of their minds, waiting to devour their thoughts and make them nothing but hollow husks, drones to a queen they had yet to meet. Drones to serve X320. The placenta like surface which covered practically everything in this first corridor, finally made it's move. From the doorway, at the far back, the meat walls snapped shut, disallowing exit by wrapping around itself. Any natural sunlight that had otherwise in the corridor was snuffed out in an instant. Jeanne, having found herself sticking closley to Naoru Kehai, let out a soft squeak. Pulling up her camera, a sharp beam of light errupted from it immediately as she began filming. "We need to keep moving!" The reporter called out to the group, clearly frazzled by being locked in like this. Though, the dark haired maiden figured, that if they were going to lose their selves if they sat still, she may as well join in and do what she could to assist. For now, all that she could do, was provide the group with an additional couple of light sources. Tossing yet another, smaller camera, to Kogami in the back. "Just turn it on, it'll give you light, and me footage!" Trying to remain somewhat chipper, despite the dire circumstances, they'd have three sources of light by now. Neon lady at the front. Jeanne in the middle. Kogami at the back. It was the best she could do to help... The placenta was pulsating, moving, as if it was becoming aware of the group's presence and movements. The meaty membrane much behaved like the inside of a mouth, immediately preventing them from escaping out where they came from, without them using considerable force. At first, the enclosed little corridor didn't seem to otherwise cause them any issues. That is, underlining, at first. As if it had waited for Jeanne to share sources of light, the walls of flesh began slowly growing in thickness, limiting their space in the corridor. The floor upon which they stepped, also seemed strangely sticky, like a light adhesive. It was making moving forwards unhindered difficult if not borderline impossible. To be caught in the fleshy walls, would mean being stuck. This trap was clearly not designed to harm or kill them. Rather, it was a design to keep them all locked in place until the effects would kick in. To delay them, to make them take longer, to grant their minds to the queen below.Jeanne pressed against Naoru's back, slightly panicky, to get him to move forwards. "We need to move, right now!" The little attempt to sense what might be awaiting them below interrupted by the complete change of the scenery. Though, one thing was certain, there was something awaiting them down below. Something which didn't want them reaching the queen."Aaaaaargh!!!" The echoing screams of pain and horror continued from below, at almost precise intervals. This time, the voice was accompanied by a strange gargling noise, as if whoever was screaming in agony, couldn't properly breathe. The voice was distorted, shifting between screeches and darker sounds. "Nooooooooo, get out, get ouuuut, hrrrrk!" The group itself, would also slowly experience a ramp up to their affliction. Like, someone was whispering to them, in a voice just low enough that they could not hear. The added light sources, also made more shadows seem to come alive... Things were starting to get really, really bad...

Luzia was distracted by the disgusting sounds, but as she listened to them, they were apparently far farther than she had first thought. The closeness she heard was just an echo... or something, and she relaxed, just a little bit, only slightly since the threat wasn't immediate. This place was getting creepier and creepier by the minute... and she hated this. This wasn't a quirker, this was a monster! Something out of a video game or something.
She relaxed just in time for the purple-haired girl to walk past her. Luzia instinctively gripped her knife tighter, nearly swinging at her, but pulling the urge back when the girl just moved past her. She jolted again, though, more from surprise than fear, when the girl jumped onto the wall. She was surprised, but honestly, with her seeming to be on her side, and other, bigger stuff happening, she let it go pretty easily. Luzia looked at the wall, catching movement in the corner of her eye, but this time it wasn't... whatever was hiding in the shadows. The wall, the flesh, it was... moving. Luzia shuddered in disgust, but at the same time, she had a bad feeling. Something was about to go wrong...
And as if to answer her, the sunlight on the other end of the hallway was suddenly go. Luzia went wide-eyed under her mask, then seethed in frustration. Running away wasn't an option now, but then she saw the flesh growing, and towards them. Luzia trembled, growling as she scratched at her head, almost pulling on her hair. Shitshitshitshitfuckingshitfuck! She cursed in her mind, then let out a gutteral yell of frustration, "WHY AM I EVEN HERE?!" She stomped her foot, only growing angrier when she had to peel her shoe from the ground, of all things.
Why was she even here?! She asked herself that again, but she didn't have an answer, which only frustrated her more. She hated this, hated hated hated it! She pulled away from the staircase, just a few steps, then ran, flinging herself down the stairs, slamming her feet down on the lower floor, peeling her shoes off of the ground again as she started running. She ran her hands along her body as she did, painting herself with light; red, orange, and pink clung to her clothes, to her skin, making herself glow brighter than just her hand, throwing more light out, giving her more to see, and freeing her hand.
She kept running. No shadows. No stopping. No people if she had to. She just ran down halls, down stairs, not stopping unless she was made to stop, whether it was some fucked-up shit in this place... or she got down all the stairs she needed to. No more fucking hiding; she wanted to find this... X-bitch and end this.

Sometimes the only pay-off for having any faith Is when it's tested again and again everyday I'm still comparing your past to my future It might be your wound but they're my sutures Naoru was momentarily blinded by the light of the camera Jeanne Emeriss pulled up. It was not at all a bad idea to bring its light here into the building, though he felt just a little unease of him possibly ending up on a footage. And considering how close she was sticking to his back, he would appear on the video, alright... Another camera was given to Kogami, and hopefully that would also give them some light source aside from the bone-masked person’s phone and light emanating from the ability of the pink-haired female. It should be enough. Naoru felt just a little left out that only he wasn’t carrying any form of potential light, but Jeanne was close enough with her camera for his worries to disappear with that. It was the bone-masked person that moved forward after hearing the sound of something coming. Naoru was ready to fight, angling himself just a bit to cover the reporter’s body, even if it would be harder for her to get her desired footage. Safety first, scoop can come later. “Fighting would take too much time. We can not afford to waste any.” He answered, sharing the opinion with Kogami about their remaining time, when the bone-masked counted their two options, though soon enough, they were left with only one. Their exit closed, and they were left in the dark, meaty walls expanding and closing in on them. Breath stuck in Naoru’s lungs for a moment upon realizing what was happening, and the ropes made of his Aura pulled back instantly. They were already trapped, and whatever was controlling this substance, intended for them to stay here until their time was up. Even without Jeanne pressing against him, Naoru knew their only option was to get further down, and preferably now. “Run run run!” The pink-haired girl’s emotional outburst and lounge set Naoru in motion too. He started to move, and while doing so, his Aura flared. It covered his body down to his knees as a coat, and it’s back expanded further. “Excuse me.” At the edge of the stairs, he reached back, pulling the reporter close to him, hugging her shoulders, his right arm and “cape” covering her body from possible harm and damage that would come their way. The Aura was deceivingly soft to the touch, but hard under the surface of cotton. Discomfort of physical contact was damned when they had to rush forward for their life, though Naoru shivered from the closeness regardless. His left arm, the one made of Aura completely was expanding, forming claws three times bigger than his hand. He used them to grab onto the walls above the staircase, pulling himself and effectively Jeanne over and down the stairs to the next floor. He would release her there so they could run freely for as long as something or someone would stop them in their tracks. He kept in front of the girl, as he didn’t expect actual attacks from the back. Kogami was there too, watching out for her in case something happened. His Aura was still ready to cover her any moment, as a way of protection. He could feel her at his back with it. He looked back to check if Kogami was okay. He was in the furthest, so the most in danger of getting trapped in the enclosing walls. He couldn’t be any slower, or Kogami wouldn’t have the room to run either. They were at the sleeping quarters, lines of beds visible through the meaty, pulsating walls. Just how much further is the place going? Just how much further will they have to keep going? And really, what the hell was waiting at them in the end? The scream and the words they heard before, as well as the scratching sounds didn’t make him be more at ease. Something was waiting at them, and something was already happening to them that made Naoru suspect whatever hallucination they were seeing, it was deadly. He scratched his scalp to stop the itching, tearing a soft feather from its place under his hairline. The lights playing on the walls in the darkness were less and less reassuring. It made the shadows and the movements more prominent, but they all needed the light to see. Let me out. Let me out!

Their only exit was closing the sound of it, the light in the distance fading from them. The screamed echoed below, and it all begun to click in her mind. They were limited, in time and distance. They needed to clear each floor in a matter of moments, then they needed to swiftly end the life of the one the military couldn't. That was what it was, wasn't it? Their dirty work? Poison them all, force them to do their bidding. They were villains, and after she was done, she would kill anyone that remained. She didn't mind the knife that nearly slit her skin. Instead, the bone before her face would cover the light of her head, as the mouth moved, it spoke, sounding no more than a whisper to those around her, but being on the wall, left none to really hear the words. "Let me out! I can stop this. I can take us all there. We can kill. Kill Kill Kill!" Setsuna begged her, his own being trying to take hold of the girl, his own sentience growing more and more mad with each moment. But if he parted from her, will she take the effects of the drug or would he take it with him? The both of them went dark, hiding themselves as they went forward. Kasey leaped from the wall, her heel sticking to it, leaving a thin spine like rope from it as she ran forward. In the darkness, she was prepared to take this beast head on by herself. But leaving a rope, she would allow them to follow her, even if the lights had failed. "WE NEED TO MOVE, NOW." she said, jumping down the steps, and down the next floor. as she ran before them all, the skull upon her face would begin to grow deformed, the back of her head growing a second face, the glowing red eyes of the demon that lived within the devil. He watched what was behind her. Her head appearing as if she had a growth the size of a watermelon. At a moments notice, he would be allowed to jump from her body to leap at what was needed. But for now, they needed to leave a line for the others. As she ran down at leat half way down the floor, the light on her forehead would turn back on, no longer having to rely on her own set of eyes, she would try and make her way through each narrow passage. She would make her way above, around, or through anything she had to, while a new voice from the woman, called out to the others. "MAKE HASTE, AND LET US SPREAD WASTE! HAHA!" The face on the back of her head laughed, all the while a few splinters, things that looked like spiders legs peered from the temples of his own face, scratching hastily at the top of his head, a sensation he would never get to satisfy. One, that Kasey would not yet understand. "THE ONLY WAY OUT OF HERE, IS TO KILL WHAT IS DOING THIS." Killing, it wasn't a heroic thing to do. But it was all they had. Running though the first set of sleeping quarters, she would continue to run, until she reached the stairs, using her line to swing around the railing and throwing herself to the next floor below. She would sever the line. Running through the second set of beds and whatnot, she reached up to her head, holding both swords in her hands as she transitioned to reach for him. Her partner would grow his own skull, with spider legs all a meter long each, to crawl and run ahead of her with her own light. Her own face would remained covered as she ran, trying to cover all the ground they could. They had no reason to stop until they were face to face with whatever was causing it. She couldn't stay behind to help them. They were smart enough, and she didn't need them in her cross fire. Setsuna would begin to crawl, as Kasey ran after him. The next floor being nothing but a gym, or some workout area of come kind. With the new wall decor, it would be hard for her to tell, but it was unimportant. What she was here for, what they were all here for was on the floor below. Running to the stairs, she stopped as her little pet did before, only to run back to her, bonding back to her as he grabbed onto her foot. She needed to do it fast, but she could not rush in blindly, they needed a plan. ~ Word Count: 783 ~ tl;dr : Kasey runs off ahead. Turns off her light to use Setsuna. Summons him as a skull spider. Uses Setsuna to scout for her, a few meters ahead, taking her phone with him to light up. She runs off, not really checking who is behind her. She stops before going down on the final floor, trying to think of plan. |

As Kogami moved closely and swiftly with the rest of the group at an equivalent pace, he was suddenly tossed a smaller camera from him to hold in the back that was used to serve as not only additional footage for the reporter, but doubling as an extra light source for the group to use. It would find use in a situation such as this, with the dark corridors being engulfed in the shades of mysterious uncertainty around each corner. With the increased movement of the placenta going about, the situation itself was starting to resemble more and more of a modern day horror story, and they haven't even reached to the end of where the proposed science experiment that caused all of this is yet.
The walls were enclosing in on them, but it didn't seem to be abnormally violent or moved with the purpose of harming the group. From thy way that the growths were shifting, it looked more and more as if the placenta was trying to entrap them in some kind of fleshy mass. However, Kogami didn't change his mind. This really could just be a quirk user that lost control of their abilities due to the experiments of the military, he didn't want to use this situation to demonize the culprit.
Just as Kogami had no intention to demonize the woman with the skull face summoning that crazy like spider creature. Everything was basically getting out of hand with the amount of nightmare fuel being produced, but Kogami was far from useless.
" No, we don't have to kill the quirk user in order to stop them. Unconsciousness is more than enough to put a stop to whatever they are doing. As long as the other team comes through with the antidote, we should have nothing to worry about. It's just that time is not on our side in this case, but as I said before, it's no excuse to justify an execution of a person who was probably manipulated for a long period of time by the military before all of this even happened. I won't call that to be fair..."
Putting his quirk to use while still holding the camera as a support of light, Kogami kicked off of the air behind him with the use of his line of sight's application of interacting with solidified air, as well as using a combination of his line of sight by using his free hand to pull himself forward from up to 20 meters away, kicking and towing himself at a decent speed as a form of movement instead of simply running instead.
The scene itself made Kogami look a bit agile with how unorthodox his quirk was, but right now, it was serving his purpose as he continued to keep up with the rest of the group to provide light for them and manoeuvre around any sharp twists and turns.
Note: Quirk is D rank so the distance reach is increased, can reach as far as 20 meters with each kickoff and/or tow.
