Cian had carefully put together a number of group rescue exercises with the opening of Semper Fi. Their rescue facilities were top notch and he wanted to use the opportunity to teach his classes a very valuable lesson. The school year was in full swing and it was time that he provided them with a big challenge. That in of itself was a big channel for Cian. He had to craft puzzles for the students to make creative use of their quirks and put them in a situation where they had t work together to complete the objective. This most important part of this class was learning to work together with people that didn't interact too much. He knew that some of the students knew each other, but he designed the groups to have from different classes. This way he could do his best to ensure they weren't too familiar with each other. It was a fun idea and he had a lot of fun putting together the courses for the students. And naturally, he couldn't help but place little mental bets on how each student was going to handle each situation. Even though criminals existed and were in prison for the worst of crimes, they still had rights. Capital punishment was a thing in Japan, but it was reserved for the more serious of crimes. The rest of the criminals at least reserved their right to live. And with the world quickly filling with quirks, the need to store villains in a facility that could contain them was growing ever more important. Sometimes a cell meant to hold a villain just wasn't enough and they used their quirks to escape. Those escape endangered the other criminals that were just trying to serve their time peacefully. And enough though they were scum, they too needed to be rescued. It was often the moral dilemma of upstarts to wonder why people even bothered to save criminals. And this course as going to show that even the lowest in society had to be rescued too. There were nine targets set up in a course designed after a miniature prison. The students were to enter and save them for class. And though they were just mannequins like the ones they were used to with rescue class on campus, it was important that they remembered the nature of the mannequins they were rescuing. Criminal mannequins, if such a thing could exist. The course was modeled after a prison was left in shambles in an escape attempted by a villain. They had to save nine of them and bring them to a marked off spot at the front of the prison. It was next to the starting line that served as the place the students could gather before going in and completing their lesson. One mannequin served as the warden. In the escape, after the structural stability of the prison had been compromised, he was stuck in his office without an escape. It sat on the third floor of the prison and overlooked the front entrance of the place. Both his normal office door and the emergency exit were no longer viable. The front exit was completely covered by immovable rubble while the energy exit was locked down and could not be opened. The only entrance to the office was the window that could be seen from the prison's starting point. It, of course, was three floors of the ground, making it a dangerous climb for the students. In the prison's cafeteria, another mannequin was stuck behind a unique locking mechanism. They were stuck in a cage that sat behind a wall. The two sides of the wall could open, but only if someone stood on the panel that did so. The moment that person left the panel, the walls quickly closed shut. Each side, in a symmetrical fashion, had a short winding path with similar stepping panels at the end of them Once all three panels were stepped on at the same time, the entire contraption would unlock and the mannequin could be rescued without issue. Down in the basement level of the prison, another mannequin was in the laundry room. Unlike a laundromat or one in a home like most were used to seeing, all these machines were massive and meant to take extremely large loads of clothes at once. In fact, they were so large that a person or two could fit in any of them. There was a mannequin stuck in one of the massive dryers down there. And in six rounds, the dryer would start up and start to heat and tumble the mannequin inside. It would only survive two rounds before it was seriously injured and considered dead if it wasn't rescued. Many the of the remaining mannequins were stuck in prison cells that needed to be unlocked through some special task. One such mannequin had their cell locked with a facial recognition lock. Whoever wanted to unlock the cell had to perform a series of facial expressions to unlock the cell door and get to the mannequin inside. They had to form, smile, puff their cheeks, and then look sad in that order. Once all four were done within view of the lock's camera, the cell door would slide open. Another cell door could be opened with the panel next to it, but in an effort to keep the prisoner's quirk at bay, the actual room of the cell was at the end of a winding path. The entire path had disruptive electromagnetic signals pulsing through it to intercept and fizzle out any kind of tech that tried to go through the path. It was designed to keep the prisoner away from any activated technology and those sensitive to that kind of signal would suffer immensely trying to get through the path. Another cell sat in a colorless room. Everything was pure white, from the floor to the walls to even the bars of the cage that held the prisoner. The only colors that could be seen were white and the grey shadows formed by the light that kept the cell lit. The panel on the side of the cage required a special code to open it, which none of the students knew. This meant the cage was going to have to be brute forced somehow, either by breaking the cage through a feat of strength or by hacking the panel within. However, should anything with any color come into the room, the light reflected off that color would be washed out right away due to the properties of the room. Another cell with a mannequin with was kept in a shallow hallway. After a few steps, a floor panel was on the ground that needed to be stepped on. One it did, two latches slid open on the left and right of the panel on the walls. Behind these latches were two long chutes, roughly three meters in length. And at the end of these chutes were buttons that needed to be pressed and held at the exact same time for five seconds while the person stood on the panel. If all of that was done, the cell door could open and the mannequin could be rescued. Another set of cell doors couldn't be unlocked by any sort of panel or key that was near the cell. these doors were controlled by a console in a guard's station on the floor above. On that console, a guard could use the system and a unique code to open a cell door, one of which held a mannequin. However, only one of the doors could be opened at a time. And when one closed, it took a single round before it could be opened again. Without knowing the system or the codes, using the console normally would be time consuming and inefficient. but if it could be used and all that was bypassed, the correct door with the mannequin behind it could be opened right away. The final mannequin was in a cell at the end of a brightly colored hallway. The hall was painted in an array of red, yellows, and oranges by the prisoner within the cell during the few moments of free time that he was allowed outside of the cell. Once someone got a certain distance into the hall without the necessary keycard, the cell door couldn't be unlocked or opened. The only way to get through the hall without the keycard and open the cell door in time was to somehow move incredibly quickly through the colored hallway and make it to the mannequin within. The class will end once all mannequins are rescued and brought back to the safety zone, or time runs out (the event ends and the topics closed). This is not an exam, but a class. Students are here to learn and practice, not compete with the other squads to do things the best way. Mistakes are allowed. The important thing here is for students to learn to work together for a common goal. Aside from the stuff in this opening post, the topic and setting are free to use and proceed as you wish. If you have any questions, contact me on the discord. From this point on the student shave free reign and I will not be replying to the topic unless needed for something specific and by request. Have fun with it!

So, rescue classes at the army base huh...? Not a bad idea, Kanna couldn't really find anything wrong with it. And if she had to pick between smug military guys as a teacher, or, well, one of the heroes in Yuuei's teaching staff... It shouldn't take a genious to figure out which one she preferred. Kanna had only one practical lesson with Professor Glave, and didn't really like or dislike it. But simply not disliking it already meant something for her, even if she had yet to craft a proper mental image of the teacher. Knowing this was a hero class instead of simply fooling around the army base, Kanna came dressed appropriately, wearing the hero outfit she ordered when first joining Yuuei... Mind you, there was little to nothing special about this outfit save for the touch gloves helping her slide her fingers through the smartphone while activating its abilities. Not to mention she made it a point to actually comb out her naturally straight hair instead of leaving it messy, perhaps understanding how hero work required a certain change in appearance, help keep her real identity a secret. Not that it helped much when she could be so easily identified merely by the thorned rose tattoo around her thigh. "A prison exercise huh... Interesting.", she mused as she arrived at the training grounds, looking around for teacher and teammates but finding none. She'd been informed she'd been teaming up with two other girls, including Risaka, one of the few people in school she'd already developed a measure of mutual respect for. She somewhat understood how the girl thought and fought, what powers could she bring forth... Made it far easier to plan and account for every detail, visualizing all the different paths to success and merely selecting the best one. Yes, Kanna immediately realized where the teacher was going with this, what kind of hero lesson he wanted to teach. Heroes often concerned themselves only with getting criminals in prison, but not so much what happened to them after they got there. This proved especially troublesome when dealing with those particular villains whose Quirks far exceeded any prison's capability to contain them. When that happened, the contained predators turned into helpless prey and they too needed saving. With her distrust of authority, Kanna naturally disagreed with the very notion of the Government being allowed to kill people as they damn well pleased. As someone who could easily control information with her hacking skills, she understood just how easily one could manipulate or fabricate evidence, realistically enough to fool public opinion and eventually, a judge. In her mind, the less justifications the powerful held to kill people, the better off those below them would be. While the blonde had enough self awareness to understand how she herself could potentially kill out of fury - or any of the other darker sides of her psyche - she could never see murder as a just action a rule of law could abide by. Of course, philosophical considerations on killing were one thing, practical hero lessons were something else entirely. More so than considering the obvious implications that even incarcerated criminals shouldn't be casually left to die, Kanna looked at the prison scenario with a hand on her hip and the other on her smartphone. While awaiting for her classmates, she used her skills to scour through the available information (and some of the supposedly unavailable), scrounging up blueprints from the prison, and piecing them together with the debrief she'd gotten from her teacher. "This one should be here, and that one there...", absorbed in her electronics, Kanna finally had her chance to shine, to put her true skillset to use in this military base. Taking a copy of the blueprints, she singled out the points of interest, the places they'd most likely find all the mannequins they needed to pull out. Ideally, they should rush in and go for the warden's office first. By saving him, they'd also get all the information they needed, with Kanna in particular looking to get her hands on the highest security clearance.
For a hacker like her, such credentials were worth more than gold... If they wasted time elsewhere and the warden died, all the useful information that could help save the others would die with him, making their job a hell of a lot harder.

Post by Risaka Reinacht on Sept 16, 2018 19:34:23 GMT -4
An opening to military training regime this early in her first year? Honestly, it was so sudden to Risaka that she barely had any time to prepare herself for this kind of thing, only thing she knew was that it'd be the biggest rescue course yet. Thinking back at her ever first rescue mission it felt quite the big one, fighting against a powerful brutal river to save people on boats and poles, she was incapable to imagine something worse than that, unless the school wants student to go through courses with life threatening elements. Which she doubt they would, and it made her sort of anxious, if anything she could only expect burdens from left to right.
Their rescue teacher Glave had invited Risaka to this course and seemingly expecting her to be there on stat point time. Well Risaka liked to be lazy and slop around for a bit before getting over there. Not excessively late for obvious reasons, Risaka was wise like that, satisfy her own sinfull traits but not too much to the point of regret. It was already 10 minutes after the initial meeting time, in the waiting room there was none so the gray girl only assumed the rest was ahead. Walking out of the room to the simulater room she witnessed the large scale of the prison and it's wrecked state, but yet it was pretty intact and secure looking. Over near it was Kanna doing something, it got Risaka curious. Making her way over with casual steps and hands in her pockets. She wore her hero outfit which was a battle outfit under her dark gray coat that reached to her knees, her legs having tight thights on with colour rings around her thighs. Her sleeves tucked up to her elbows and wearing two heavy boots designed for gripping friction. Looking over at the blondie the gray girl would take notice of her gathered intel, all Risaka knew was that there are mannequins in need for saving and that there are criminals aswell, although Risaka saw very little to no point on saving them.
''Guess we are on the same pit once more... pretty odd if you ask me.'' Speaking in a rather careless tone she approached the heavy double stelldoor, putting her feet against it and presses to check it if went anywhere. ''Gotta have this giant thing open, I can only assume the timer has started...'' Taking her foot off the flat steel surface she turned back towards the blonde gal, her gray pale eyes meeting her emerald gaze. ''Aren't you someone good with stuff like this? Hacking or something like that... I take it that this time around you will be the one taking the lead?'' Risaka knew Kanna plenty enough to see her as someone worthy of standing on the same side with, even potentially someone she could fully willingly work along with. If things went smoothly from here maybe Risaka could finally bring up the fact she owe Kanna a cup of coffee, she felt like Kanna truly deserved it soon enough.
But with the current circumstances the gray girl took another glance over the large prison construct, just viewing in it's large menacing glory made ehr sigh out, it had that massive look that would only give her mind countless of possible hours being stuck in there. ''I really did not want this week to start off with this... being a hero can be annoying.'' Definitely did not have the right attitude to the issue infront of them, Risaka would most definitely this time around put in least amount of effort she could, infact she was already ready to get back home and study for the week's test. Or the fact she had to do some serious shopping when she got home, this morning she was already in an extreme gloomy mood because of her coffee stocks was empty and she was incapable to buy new ones last weekend, all because of the sudden forest trip filled with mindless army activities and marching. Not that she thinks about it, everything related to the damn military events it has always resulted her being dragged the fuck out of her bed early in the morning. By the almighty christ of all good in this world why was all of this crap happening when she is completely out of coffee. It made her furious and frustrated to the point she gave a firm kick against the metal door. Heck, she even bet she could kick the doors right open if she spent some of her quirk fuel for strenght, but who knew what was laying inside waiting. So as an utlimate decision she crouched down with a frown, disliking how limited she is with her quirk usage.

You leave me here wondering if I'll ever know How much you care, or how much you don't If you're going to be somebody's last time, baby be mine. “ A rescue class on the military base that opened up to those with quirks was an interesting idea. It was a good exchange of resources between Yuuei and Semper Fi. They would be able to see how quirks functioned to make their jobs easier and Yuuei had access to some impressive facilities they could use to improve upon the learning. Kyla had an interest in the base as well. She wanted to help improve the classes everyone was taking by giving them something that was more challenging for them. The military base was a great place to sort through those ideas and she was going to make use of them after the class. For now, however, Kyla had to focus on the assignment in front of her. From what she remembered, she was going to be grouped up with two other people from the school and they were supposed to work together to complete the class. It seemed simple enough, so Kyla was confident they would all do okay. She was the last to arrive. The girl ended up arriving late due to getting lost and distracted on the base for a bit, but she resolved to not waste any more time now that she was here. She was dressed in her costume. It was a new addition to her wardrobe courtesy of her class president. It, of course, was an intermediary thing. She wanted to add some more specifics to her costume to allow her to connect to her quirk, her Nasod Core. For now, it was actually pretty simple. She wore a black dress that provided cover for her arms and the majority of her torso. The dress itself was pretty short, shorter than the school uniforms the school provided to them. Thankfully, she paired the dress with long thigh high boots. They matched her dress in both color and design. The whole outfit was adorned with designs colored in pink, white, and gold to give it a more technological look. The girl had a mutation that was very tech-based in nature, so she figured she would embrace that theme and develop a persona for herself as a hero. A technological angel was her goal one day. As she arrived on the scene, Kyla was quick to take note of the two she was paired with, neither of them she knew. Both were quite different from each other and Risaka stood out much more. Like Kyla, she had a mutation. While Kyla had her Core on her forehead and an array of nodes on her body, Risaka had no color. She wasn't just pale, but completely black and white. It was very interesting and the literal opposite of one of the classmates in her own class. The other was a blonde and didn't seem to have a mutation present. Learning about her quick was going to be interesting and it would even present a scary question once she learned about what it was. How vulnerable was Kyla's Core to quirks that controlled technology? Her Core was basically just another part of her brain, so would it be mind control? "Hello!" Kyla spoke up as she closed in. The first thing they would notice about her, aside from her Core and white hair, was that she had no facial expressions. Kyla was stoic. Things like smiling, laughing, or furrowing her brow were all impossible for her and she never really understood why. It wasn't that she didn't feel or tried to hide these emotions, it was just something she couldn't do. So when she wanted to communicate how she felt, she had to say it. "I'm excited to take this class with you all. I'm Kyla..." She started, only to have her voice trail off as she came to a stop. "I'm sorry for being late."”

Merely getting the blueprints wouldn't quite cut it... She still needed something else to actually rescue the warden and get the prize she wanted off him. First, they had one colossal steel gateway to break past, and as the blonde placed one hand on her hip, she turned her head upwards, peeling her eyes away from the smartphone to take in their first real hurdle. How to get past this? Th eblonde frowned, and looked around, eventually coming upon a guard post. She headed in there and immediately began tapping away at the keyboard. And that's where she stood when the first of her teammates showed up, one she knew better than most: "Oh, Risaka... What up?", greeted Kanna, looking at the approaching gray girl. She'd worked with her in the past, been through some pretty harsh training with some pissant Colonel who took it upon himself to teach Quirkers a lesson. That hardly made them friends or anything, but they defenitely developed a measure of trust, even if the blonde met her gaze with little more than an acknowledging nod and eventual shrug, "I'm pretty sure they pick all the teams randomly, so it's probably just a coincidence." Kanna didn't pay her too much attention, not that she was ignoring her or anything of the sort, but rather she'd already gotten started on exactly what the gray girl suggested... Get that steel door open. To do this, remained inside the guard post a few meters away from Risaka, answering that question without turning her gaze up from the console, merely hammering away at the keyboard. "Already on it... Don't bother pushing it open, you won't get anywhere anytime soon.", not when they had a far more subtle way to go about this... Fortunately, the prison had been pretty accurately recreated, complete with functional security. On the other hand, the security system employed was far too weak, nearly obsolete. No prison run by a competent warden would ever use something with such blaring holes, and in the matter of minutes, the telltale siren heralded the opening gateways, "Theeere we go~" A grin appeared on her face as she surgically cut through the weak security and gained control of a great deal of the whole prison's digital complex. She could eventually take over the whole thing, but that would waste far too much time. "No time to hack through the admin security, not when we can just get the credentials off the warden.", answered the blonde, talking to Risaka before shifting her gaze to yet another new arrival. Though she didn't know how the teams had been distributed, she did recognize that girl's face... Kyla. The cybernetic appearance predictably captured Kanna's attention far more easily than most people ever could, understandably so considering the hacker natually liked technology. Mutation type huh...? Interesting... Waving her hand dismissively, pointing her thumb to the door, "I only just got this piece of shit open, so you're just in time. I'm Kanna."
Yes, she obviously cared little for the girl's stoicism, understandably so considering her own deadpan look, and Risaka's in turn. Clearly, facial expressions weren't anybody's strong suit here. With the road ahead wide open to their advance, Kanna turned on her heel and marched in, keeping her tablet on hand, barely watching the way ahead as she swiped her fingers across the screen, back and forth, occasionally typing out a few lines of code here and there. After accessing the console and hacking into the network, she'd now gained control over the security cameras, meshing that information with the blueprints she'd already cracked.
"The warden's right up this stairwell. Let's keep going.", she informed, nodding up the staircase and shooting her two teammates a cursory glance. As this was merely a training session, they could possibly split up and rescue multiple prisoners at the same time... But were this a live situation, such a course of action would only make them all easier to get picked off, "Also, did any of you remember to bring a cellphone?"~
It was just an exercise though, so she wouldn't stop them from heading off... She would hope they had a phone or any electronic she could connect her tablet to, and that way establish real time communication. She naturally let her eyes linger on Kyla, a curious look as she wondered just how much that cyber looking Quirk of hers allowed her to pull off... With some luck, she might just be able to set up that comm channel with her without needing any extra gadgets, merely relying on her earpiece and tablet in unison. And that would leave only Risaka, who should defenitely avoid splitting up and leaving herself isolated. Like any other team game, they'd need to use each other's skills to the fullest in order to take home the win...
