It seemed that the young Eisenberg was clearly having the time of her life during the military demonstration of the army. There was something about guns that truly fascinated Elise, and it only had become even more exciting when during the first day she had encountered a particular piece of technology that she found almost just as awesome as firearms: drones! It seemed that, after some convincing from one of the engineers that the army frequently used drones for their military operations, and soon explained just how useful those machines were for combat purposes. Of course, being unable to contain her excitement, by the time the evening of the first day of the event unfolded Elise had spent the entire evening talking to Kobayashi Touma about drones.
It still felt awkward, that her principal and mentor had also become her guardian in the wake of her father's death and her mother's condition, and yet Elise couldn't help but find herself energetically talking about the events of that day. About how she went to seek out and learn about the experiences of the doctors who were on the battlefield before, of how she had been geeking over guns with Darren and did a little shooting contest with him. Then there was the obvious gathering of the students to create that exciting paintball event among the students. She even had a date with Tetsuko at the camp! Overall it was clearly a time to be excited, but it all paled in comparison to when her mentor decided to ask her a question that had caught her by surprise: Do you want to try using a drone?
Of course, she couldn't resist such an invitation, and so it came to be that Elise von Eisenberg was in possession of a drone that had been formerly used by the principal himself in his days in the army. Fondly calling the drone the 'To-Dro, something she wouldn't be able to confess that its name was shortened for 'Touma Drone' without getting embarrassed and in order to get used to it Elise had decided to spend the day playing with the drone at the camp.
Tetsuko had gone off to do some sort of combat-related exercises, leaving the burgundy-haired lass to be seated on a tree stump a modest distance away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby medic camp.
"This is Eli-Foce Zero-One, asking for permission to liftoff~" the girl grinned sheepishly as she mimicked a pilot in a helicopter, soon making a playful representation of a deeper voice, although her attempt sounded more funny than anything serious. "This is command tower, permission granted: Safe flight Eli-Force!"
As she declared the permission to fly she started to activate the small console in her hand, the drone slowly but surely starting to ascend into the air. Luckily she had asked permission to fly the drone before, and as long as she was careful not to cause anything dangerous to happen Elise had been given permission by the Lieutenant to play around with the drone.
The drone had started to slowly fly around, the handheld remote's screen flashing to life as she started to look through the camera that the drone was controlling. At first she made it make a few spins around her before lowering a few meters away from her, the camera screen showing herself. "Why, this girl looks quite familiar, even if I do say so myself~" Elise snickered, clearly in high spirits as she started to pilot the drone away from her. The small speakers inside it were still off, at least for the time being as she scouted around the area.
Flying over the combat area showed that several visitors, including students, were busy training with the army personnel, she could even have sworn she saw Tetsuko and someone else sparring against a scary looking man, but her excitement quickly turned toward the rescue area where several students were in the middle of an exercise, her drone soaring high over them till she finally reached a particular location that had made her think: the medical camp.
She had been there a few times during the first day, more than she had initially expected. First, she went there to help Haruto with some of his questions and concerns about his Quirk, the two of them seeking the expertise of a more experienced doctor to resolve Haruto's issues, while she herself wanted to learn more about what exactly doctors experienced on a battlefield. Still to think Kirk just wanted to learn bandaging and massaging! It made her chuckle just recalling it.
And then there was the time she went with Tetsuko to figure out what the source of the girl's healing factor was. Of course, Elise already had an assumption but that didn't change the sheer amount of amusement she had from watching the poor girl's flustered reactions at the doctor's questions and explanations. It also confirmed that heavenly Juice truly was the best juice.
Only this time she found her body freeze for a moment as a smaller and familiar figure entered the camera's view, a small dot appearing on the scanner of the remote. "Rin..." her voice was soft and worried as she thought back about the letter she had send Rin. Did the girl read it? Did her message get properly conveyed to her? She could only pray it did, yet as Rin started to move Elise couldn't help but find herself subconsciously command the drone to follow her, flying just out of sight as she mused softly. "I hope this isn't considered stalking... I'm just keeping an eye out for her, that's all~" As if those words were enough to justify her reasoning Elise nodded her head lightly as she forgot that the direction Rin was approaching wasn't all that different from the spot she was seated at! Was she heading to the medical camp for some reason? Still she was quite a modest distance away from her, and a small crowd of people had already started to flock to the camp so she wasn't sure if the girl could see her or not.
"Eli-Force Zero-One, a new mission has been given, proceed to safeguard VIP Rin Kurama during her trip." Once more she played the masculine voice act, that she, by the way, was totally horrible at before musing softly. "I hope she is doing a bit better..."
Yet little did either of them know that today would be a day where the girls might end up facing a problem together again.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Curling up her lips, the girl blew out a stream of air, pushing the raven dark locks away from her eyes. Groaning in annoyance, she lifted her hand to eventually lead the stray locks of hair back behind her ear where they'd not annoy anyone. Today was the second day, in which Rin had gone to the military camp. Dressed in a casual set of clothes, she was wearing a simple white shirt with a nearly seethrough pink pullover. From the waist down fell a simple black skirt, contrasting the otherwise lighter colors of her top. The dark hair was halfway caught in a simple ponytail, halfway left to do whatever it wanted to. In short, Rin looked about as casual as one could. The first day, she had more or less been forced. Being that she, for whatever reason, had been claimed to be one of the more competent students at Yuuei, the arrangement had been made that she would be the one standing in for a small quirk demonstration in the cage fight area. Much to Rinøs dismay, it hadn't gone anywhere near the direction she had been hoping for. It had been a pressed situation, leaving enough of a mess for Rin to sort out after-the-fact. A blood sample, a request with Sophie-sensei to please analyze it's contents. Today was the day that Rin would learn more of what had caused the Shark mutation male to be in such a state. Half panic, half fury. Biting her lower lip, she was heading slowly towards the medical area, stepping through the crowd with a strange finesse. Most hardly noticed her, as if she had no pressence at all. One thing that had noticed her however, was a little flying devil with a camera... For now, however, Rin hadn't noticed it.The remainder of the bloodsample was kept in a cooler inside the bag swung over Rin's shoulder. A simple schoolbag, containing several different pieces of litterature pertaining this specific subject. Never before had Rin really analyzed blood to any extent. Of course, being that her own quirk was exactly blood control, it seemed a little ludicrus that she had been skitting around the issue with such determination. Now, however, was the time to actively get going with it. Now that there were others whose lives might be hanging in such a balance. As for Rin and her life..? Well...A mere week ago, Rin wouldn't have wanted to leave the dorm room if she could help it. Attending classes, only barely, she was only doing what was absolutely neccessary to scrape by. Doing only what was absolutely neccessary to remain in the dorm room. Being kicked out and having to find something else was, after all, difficult and tedious. At first, Rin had mostly kept to herself, wrapped up in the blanket on her bed, spending most of her time eating, sleeping, showering and reading. During this time, Jasmine had been an absolute pestilence. Constantly bugging Rin with the most mundane things. Getting the tea right. Getting breakfast right. Questions regarding what they were meant to be studying for the next class. Questions on how exactly things worked. Teaching the blonde math was something Rin had never expected would happen. Studying together, was also not something Rin had seen coming. Inadvertedly, through all these small pests that were thrust upon her by the blonde, Rin had been... somewhat living a regular life. Forced to do most of the things she regularly did, because Jasmine kept forcing Rin to do it through various means. Mostly by being a pest though...They had had the talk. Coincidentally, Jasmine was being a pestilence again. Asking questions, continously down a string, trying to reach the bottom, while Rin was far more interested in not going down those pathways at all. There had been frustrations. There had been insults, there had been borderline threats thrown at the blonde firecracker. Yet the questions simply kept coming and coming. Rin, had eventually been cornered within her own mind. Of course I can tell you whats wrong! Yet, when it came down to it, she really couldn't. So, she had tried to find the easy way out. Changing the words, changing the meaning, changing her approach. Jasmine had pretended she didn't understand. Pretended that Rin spoke gibberish, forcing Rin to state the words that she had refused to acknowledge ehrself. Right until Rin stated it bluntly... Through tears, through crying, through self-hatred, the words had been shared...Yeah, that happened, so what? You're still pretty awesome. The thing that had been a festering wound in her life, the thing that had been slicing into the depths of her soul, almost didn't matter to Jasmine. No, perhaps that was not the right way of putting it. Of course Jasmine had been angry, worried, upset. Of course Jasmine wanted to find the one responsible for Rin's pain and drive his own pillock through his chest... but when it came to Rin, how the two of them interacted, Jasmine had made it exceedingly clear that it made no goddamn difference. Perhaps that is why it had begun mattering less to Rin as well. It was a scar. Just a scar. Something horrible had happened, of course, but it was now also in the past. It was something that continued to vex on the inside; History tended to leave it's marks. Something that she'd have in the back of her mind, probably always, but... it was not the end of anything. There was something comforting about knowing such things...Turning around, the whirring of the copter had finally caught her attention. It had been in the background for a while, occasionally getting louder, then fading, then getting louder. Staring directly at the machinery, Rin tilted her head to the side. "..Is a bloody drone following me?" The girl said to herself in a soft tone, narrowing her eyes. That couldn't possibly be right.

How long had she been chasing Rin with the drone? To be entirely honest, she wasn't certain at this point, it felt like it could have been a few minutes, possibly a few hours or maybe even a few days! Ah wait, it was unlikely to have been days since she likely would have needed to sleep then. So far she thought she had done a good job trailing Rin, ignoring all the distractions and instead quietly pursued the girl, the drone's features making it just suitable for this type of simple endeavor. However, at some point, the unthinkable happened! The Very Important Person of her mission had decided to turn around and inquired if a bloody drone had been following her! She had been spotted! Should she abort her mission and retreat to safety? Then again, an excellent idea popped up in her mind as she allowed the drone to descend slowly. It didn't take much effort for it to reach the height of the girl, hovering in the air before her as the green light at the front flashed lightly and the camera was visibly looking at her.
Gods, Rin looked so adorable when she was confused like that! Coughing softly to clear her thoughts Elise decided that to abort a mission would be useless, in the end, that would mean she would have to find another way to keep busy and perhaps this was an excellent opportunity for her to talk to Rin. After a moment the girl cleared her throat, preparing for a little bit of playful acting as she tried to sound a bit more masculine again, without much success. The speakers turned on inside the drone, and with a bit of imagination, it might have looked like the drone had been speaking, even if it was just Elise talking to the remote a bit further ahead. "I am not a bloody drone! I am To-Dro, codename ZERO-ONE of the E-Force!"
The camera still focused on Rin, Elise was trying to do her best to keep an eye for any potential hints of a change in Rin's expression as she continued her little act. "Ahem, forgive the subterfuge Rin-dono, I am on a very important mission currently." Oh god please, she had to take a moment to turn off the microphone to stop herself from giggling like mad before she took a deep breath and continued speaking. "My commander has tasked me with ensuring your safety and comfort during your stay at the military encampment. As such I have been trying my utmost to keep pesky troubles at bay."
The drone hovered slightly back and forth before Rin as the rotor blades of the machine, fortunately, didn't mute out her voice. Now it was just a matter of continuing the little performance. "Unfortunately, I am not capable of serving beverages or cooking meals, so the comfort level is a bit lacking, for that, please accept my most humble apologies." nonetheless, she couldn't keep up with it for too long, in the end it might otherwise start looking like she was teasing Rin, and instead she decided to continue the act only for a little bit longer. "Rin-dono, would you happen to be heading toward the medic camp?"
It was a logical thing to assume, considering Rin's presence in the infirmary and her attendance in the medical class she assumed the girl had a clear interest in medical endeavors, and so she continued to speak softly. "If so, could I perhaps be so rude as to request a slight detour? Notice the crowd up ahead, the large number of people flocking toward the camp? If you could please circle around them, a bit further ahead my commander is waiting at the base."
She really hoped Rin would be willing to comply with her request. She knew that it wouldn't be easy for her to figure out what to say, it had already taken a lot of her resolve to write that letter for the girl but in the end she still wanted to talk to her, she still wanted to make sure her friend was doing somewhat okay. The drone started to hover along the side of Rin and spoke once more through the speakers. "I assure you that the Commander has no ill intentions, one could say they are an ally of you."
The drone continued to zoom as it reached the end of the crowd, but not before turning back toward Rin and calling to her once more. "Please disregard formality when speaking to the Commander, the commander of the E-force often makes us squat for weeks if we do that, and I truly don't wish for Rin-dono to be forced to squat for the remaining days of the military demonstration."
And then it finally happened. Piloting the drone to fly in automatic mode toward her location Elise slowly rose from the tree stump she had been seated at, watching the drone, and hopefully Rin properly follow after the drone as requested as she smiled weakly at the girl. "I-I'm sorry about that Rin-chan, I saw you earlier while piloting the drone and wanted to say hi, but you looked kinda busy so I thought about waiting till I had an opportunity." She blushed lightly, feeling rather awkward as she raised a hand to her cheek, scratching it lightly as she addressed her once more. "It's... been a while, hasn't it?"
She felt a certain weight on her shoulders, a concern that made her almost wish she knew what to properly say, or if she had someone to encourage her, but she remembered Hachi's words and in the end simply smiled at her. "I'm sorry if I kept you from something important." Oh gods, why was this so awkward! "Umm, you want to talk a bit? Else I don't mind waiting for another time, I imagine you have plenty to do, lots of people at the encampment after all~"

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy A few short moments passed, where Rin was simply trying to discern what was going on. Before anything had managed to make any kind of sense within the raven haired female's mind however, the little machinery gave a borderline robotic reply. A reply that Rin had no issues what so ever in placing. Inwardly, Rin was facepalming something fierce. Outwardly, she just stared at the drone with mild confusion on her face. Though, given the rumors and information Rin had been granted in recent times, witnessing Eisenberg-san be capable of interacting with others in a playful manner, was certainly a positive sign. Given that the two girls had been mostly absent from each other's lives, Rin hadn't been entirely sure whether Eisenberg-san was recuperating properly or not. Granted, Shindou Tetsuko-san was almost always at Eisenberg-san's side, so there seemed to be very little reason for the raven haired female to get herself directly involved with something that was so delicate, so personal, especially after what had happened at the music night. Akio-san, Maximilian-san, Darren-san, they had all made it abundantly clear that Rin wasn't worthy of calling herself a friend of Eisenberg-san. That, and underneath it all, it still felt kind of cheap. How the immediate reaction had been so strong, so colorful, so sorrowful, enough to make Rin feel miserable, yet in less than two days, the burgundy haired lass had found together with Shindou-san, completely moving on from whatever had caused said reaction in the first place. Rin was not one to blame others, often times assuming that everything was simply her own fault, but in this specific situation, she couldn't help but feel bitter. Especially given what had happened immediately after the music night..."To-Dro Eisenberg-san, I am not sure why you believe I need any kind of escort, but yes, I am headed to the medical area. I've got some blood samples I need to run some tests on. Pronto." Rin replied shortly, having come to a complete stop, simply looking at the drone. The exact reason as to why Eisenberg-san was toying around with drones, currently escaped Rin. As she had already somewhat concluded, this seemed to be more of a game to the burgundy haired lass, than it seemed to be a useful tool. The copter made far too much noise to be used properly for recon operations. It's movements also made it difficult to get into areas where you might want it to go. The rest of the conversation given to her from the drone, was more or less ignored. Rin was very clearly on some kind of mission. There was something that the raven haired female absolutely needed to investigate and get done, as soon as possible. Rin was having ominous sensations regarding the whole situation. Especially given what she had witnessed first hand. If not for her quirk, her body would likely have been littered in so many blue markings, that she'd have looked like some kind of circus clown...When Eisenberg-san finally revealed herself, apologizing for the little masquerade, Rin seemed almost completely unaffected. It wasn't like the burgundy lass was that great at mischief, nor at hiding her identity. There was practically only one personality at all of Yuuei who would've behaved in such a playful manner, yet clearly being somewhat too shy to interact. The raven haired female's eyes had shifted once again. Their glassy, unliving appearance had slowly been regaining their sapphire properties. At the very least, Rin looked to be somewhat alive, compared to their other encounters. "Oh, hey. I wasn't aware you were this close." Rin replied in a calm tone. In the back of her mind, she wasn't quite sure how to address Eisenberg-san at this point. Were they strangers? Were they meant to be close friends?... Eisenberg-san seemed rather convinced with her honorifics that they were still close. Rin, on the other hand, wasn't too sure. Thus, she pushed off the judgement on that situation for a later time. "...I don't mind talking, but we'll have to do it in the medical area. This blood sample I have won't remain fresh forever." Rin stated in the same calm tone. There wasn't much indiciation of her emotional state in her voice. She seemed very, apathetic.. yet there was enough hint of a tone that it was clear that, whichever horribleness ailed her, she was going through recovery.Nudging her head to the side, in a gesture to indicate that Eisenberg-san could follow, Rin stepped into the area at the medical camp which had been setup specifically for the nurses at Yuuei. Sophie-sensei had been fighting tooth and claw to let her students work with some of the more advanced medical equipment. It really was impressive what 'Hello Nurse' could get done when she set her mind to it. In a few strides, Rin had placed a small, enclosed plastic cylinder into the cooling mechanism. Sighing softly, now all she needed to know, was how to properly analyze the sample. Though she was one of the more gifted medical students at Yuuei, she didn't have experience with this many different apparatuses. "...If you'd know anything of tracing chemicals in blood, it'd be quite helpful right about now." Rin stated in a soft tone, clearly focussing on getting this process started. After those things were handled, while waiting for the sample to be analyzed, they'd have plenty of time to talk. Not that Rin had the slightest clue what Eisenberg-san wanted to talk about. Given the last interaction with Shindou-san, it likely wasn't going to be a super positive chat...

As she was piloting the drone and seeing Rin's face within the camera the burgundy-haired lass couldn't help but think back about that one night. It was odd, how an event which had been supposed to be a time of joy and excitement, a gathering that had supposed to be fun had turned into something so miserable, but she was certain that nobody had suffered as much as Rin had done that night. There were plenty of ways to deal with suffering and sorrow, and while Elise had found her answer in the arms of her childhood friends, she couldn't help but worry about how Kurama Rin had dealt with the event. She knew something had happened after the events at Music Night, disregarding the events which unfolded at the park after Rin's disappearance, it simply struck her as peculiar. What could have possibly happened that changed Rin so much? It clearly was something dire, for the faculty remained tightlipped and refused to talk to her about it, and as such, she found herself powerless and somewhat hopeless in figuring out the cause of those events. A part of her hoped that Rin had at least found some measurement of comfort in the arms of Jasmine, although that thought was accompanied with a slight churning feeling in her stomach. Was it jealousy? She didn't know, it might as well had been guilt at being forced to rely on someone else to help Rin. She already had begged Jasmine to save Rin, and a part of her started to wonder about the words Hachi had told her. It was not her place to confront Rin about that matter, to make her tell her, especially against her will. It was for that reason she had send that letter and song in the first place, a message to convey her feelings without forcing Rin to be confronted with her.
"To-Dro is unable to currently provide an answer to the reason behind the escort. That would be a breach of confidential information." The drone buzzed in response to Rin's words, although Elise couldn't help but wonder about this important task of Rin. Why in the world was the girl going to the military encampment to run tests on blood samples? As much as she was curious, the medical researcher in her was equally fascinated what type of purpose those blood samples might have. Was Rin investigating something? Perhaps she wanted to use the advanced equipment to run tests on her Quirk? So many potential answers.
When Rin calmly expressed her surprise that she had been so close, Elise smiled sheepishly at her and nodded her head in response. "Mhmm, I guess I must be improving my ability to blend in with the environment. Must be from all the training I been doing." A brief smile lingered on her lips as she looked at Rin. She had to admit that Rin looked a bit more lively than she had anticipated. Recalling her conversation with Tetsuko, it was not that long ago when Rin reminded people of a husk of her former self, but those glassy unliving irises had regained some of their sapphire shine, but she couldn't help but worry if it was enough. Was she truly unable to help Rin recover? In fact, did she even have the right to help Rin? In the end, what was the nature of their bond currently, if any still remained? "Of course, I don't mind accompanying you." the lass answered with a gentle nod as she stashed the drone away in the large bag she had brought with her and started to chase after Rin. It didn't take long for them to arrive at what appeared to be an area of the medical camp, the lack of personal in the area and the assortment of advanced medical equipment made it clear it held some purpose.
With Rin placing the plastic cylinder in the cooling mechanism of one of the devices the words spoken by the girl made Elise tilt her head slightly to the side in confusion. "You want to trace chemicals within that sample, that's easy enough to do." the burgundy-haired lass answered her as she started to approach the device. A hand gently trailed toward the far side of the machine as she gave it a cursory look. "For the detailed type of analysis that you're looking for, it likely will take several hours at the very least. It takes time for the machine to detect the chemicals and then cross-reference them to the ones in the database."
As the screen flickered to life Elise peered at the screen, one hand already moving to the console again. "There we go, with this all we can do is wait."
While the machine started to analyze the samples Elise leaned back a little and spoke softly. "My father used to work in pharmaceutical development, researching medicine and such so there were plenty of machines similar like this in his laboratory. Often I was allowed to come with him and he and his team would show me all those wonderous machines. At least before Thunder Shock killed him..."
For a moment she felt her tone harden, a moment of bitter coldness radiating from her tone as she shook her head and tried to clear her mind. "The analysis is going to take a while since I asked for an in-depth look into the chemicals for you, but anyways..."
She turned away from the machine and took a few steps in the opposite direction from Rin, briefly facing her with her back, as if to hide her troubled expression. "Did you get the letter I left you?" It would make things a bit easier for her, but nonetheless, she still felt the need to continue. "That night was a mess, wasn't it? It was your moment to shine, to have fun with your friends and yet it turned into a nightmare. Because I was too sensitive I got hurt by Jasmine's behavior, and during that moment when I couldn't hide my pain any longer, I made people assume the wrong thing. They said horrible things, so many things that were wrong, assumptions that might as well had been lies. The things they said about you and Jasmine... I might not know Jasmine well, but I want to believe that as someone you care dearly for she isn't the type of monster they made her out to be, nor are you."
She stopped for a moment, inhaling deeply as she felt her hands clench into small fists and she continued. "But nobody suffered as horribly that night as you did. I don't know what happened after you left, the teachers tell me it's not my business to know, and as I mentioned in my letter I don't plan to try force you to tell me either. But as your friend, I still want to try to help in any way I can, even if it's just listening to anything you do want to say, if it's not now, then someday when you desire to be heard."
But now came the difficult part, as was evident in the long moment of silence that lingered in the wake of the words that were spoken. She turned around, her eyes moist with tears as she continued. "But I owe you an explanation and an apology." Accompanying those words Elise bowed deeply, an extended bow which she had been taught was, in particular, used when one sought forgiveness.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Not quite sure what she had expected, the raven haired female offered the drone a somewhat inconclusive shrug. This was certainly one of the weirder episodes of Elise Eisenberg-san. Which was saying a lot, since it wasn't uncommon that something was going on with her, for better or for worse. Simply continuing, she'd eventually reach her destination, with Eisenberg-san more or less following in tow. The offer for them to speak, right after the blood samples had begun being processed, alluring the other female enough. After the interactions with Tetsuko Shindou-san, Rin had been fairly certain that this time would come. What the raven haired female wasn't as certain about, was where the conversation was going to go. Rin's mood had been shifting, changing, like sand on the bottom of the ocean, swept away with the rising and lowering tides. Banked on the reafs, creating intricate yet new combinations. There had been a stabilization in the girl's emotions however. Not everything was as dark and gloomy as it had been immediately following that night. A night that Eisenberg-san was likely going to bring up in a few moments. Rubbing her own face, the equipment around them wasn't exactly gibberish to Rin. It was something that she would've figured out. The specific settings, the specific times, all the things for the analysis. Granted, it would've taken a bit of time and research. Rin lifted an eyebrow in slight surprise at Elise's reaction and actions. This was state of the art medical equipment, even more advanced than what they had at most non-private-sector hospitals. Yet the other female seemed to know exactly how it all functioned. It was slightly curious, yet nothing Rin was going to hang onto for too long. As long as the samples got analysed appropriately, there was nothing for her to truly worry or complain about. The status of Elise's father though, being able to give his daughter access to such equipment, did raise the question if there were ulterior reasons as to why he had to be removed... Something Rin could think more on at a later time. The whole notion that she had been training her stealth abilities... Rin hadn't exactly meant it in such a way. Rather, she had not expected Elise to be sitting outside, in a completely random spot, controlling a drone. "Right, thanks. If it all works, then thats fine. I'll be waiting here until it completes. I do not wish to leave the sample unattended." Rin explained in a calm tone, leaning back the office chair she was sitting in. With a bit of effort and ingenuity, she could probably get some things setup in here, so that she could have herself a little nap later on, if the sample truly was going to take several hours to complete. It was clear, from how Rin was acting, that these samples were somehow important. Exactly why, she wasn't willing to share. Spreading dangerous rumors was, afterall, the opposite of Rin's personality."Thundershock was a cruel beast. In that broadcast fight, he was spouting dangerous ideals. It made me think, a bit. I used to believe a lot in my own justice, you know. In some, twisted way, I think Thundershock believes in his own justice. If that's true, all it would take for me to do bad things, is someone convincing me that it's the right thing to do..." Rin really could not offer Eisenberg-san any kind of comforting words when it came to her parents situation. So, rather than doing that, she attempted to take something out of the ordeal with Thundershock, learn from it, and become a better person as a result. Rin was not in a mental state to offer any real emotional support. Nor was she certain that engaging with Eisenberg-san on such a level was going to be healthy for her. Not after everything that had happened. Rin was still undecided. The following questions opened up the can of worms. Rotten, disgusting, half-alive worms that couldn't even be used as fish bait. Rin's expression turned into a frown, as she listened to what Eisenberg-san had to say. Yes, the letter, the music, it had all reached her. Yes, the raven haired female had listened. It just had not had any kind of serious impact. As Eisenberg-san made so completely clear in what she was saying, the girl had no idea what had happened. At the very least, Rin was appreciative that the teachers weren't sharing it with people that asked questions... It still bothered her though, that it was so obvious something had happened. "The Music night at Honey Honey doesn't matter. It doesn't hurt me, nor do I dwell on it. Not beyond avoiding the people that so clearly stated their distaste and dislike for me." Rin explained in a completely calm tone. There could be very little doubt remaining, that the event at Honey Honey, truly wasn't bothering her much at the minute... "...The things I cannot talk about, are what's haunting me. For a time, I did blame you. I felt you toyed with my emotions. Rebounding so quickly, that in the few days I was gone, you had already hooked up with Tetsuko. I find it shallow, thoughtless, after I bled for weeks trying not to hurt anyone.
It was your fault that it exploded that evening. Yet you got the blame placed on me and Jasmine with your actions. Then moved on to the 'next thing' overnight." That is exactly what had happened. Rin had returned from that hellish nightmare created by Nick, trying to pick up all the loose ends, yet nothing but insults, confusion and cold shoulders had awaited her. It was part of why Rin had stuck to her room for so long. Nothing outside those four walls really interested her. "Yet, it does not pain me. It makes no difference in my life anymore. The only thing I wonder is this... How can you call yourself my friend, that you want the best for me, after these things have been flung at my face for months, without you even reacting?..." It must've sounded like an accusation. An insult, an attack. Yet, almost as quickly as the question had been posted, Rin simply continued, explaining how weak and pathetic she herself was. "Well, not that I had any emotions left to react with, when your parents were under attack, so I suppose that makes us even at being shitty friends. Gomenasai, Eisenberg-san." So. Cold. Rin was speaking effortlessly, fluently, no stutters, expressing the truth. Yet it must've felt to Eisenberg-san like she was caught outside in a blizzard. An unrelenting snowstorm, speaking of how many things inside Rin were still under repair. Speaking of how much she had needed support, yet hadn't had Elise there to support her. At some point, Rin had stopped relying on the burgundy haired lassie. Had stopped hoping that there'd be an explanation. In so many ways, Rin seemed to have just given up.

Silence, a tense silence lingered in the air as she listened to Rin's comments about the villain known as Thunder Shock. While she had only seen the start of the broadcast, it seemed the man had been spouting some dangerous ideals, gibberish in the ears of someone, but if what Rin said was true, then the man had a certain charisma to him. To make even someone like Rin to think about her own justice, about her own morals must had shown that whatever the man had said, it had some sort of impact. "There is no justice in the things that man does." Elise muttered coldly underneath her breath. However, in the wake of the subject about the man she could only describe as a 'monster' Elise had to finally come to terms and face an entirely different nightmare on her own.
"..." She averted her gaze for a moment, thinking back on that night. She still couldn't push out the memories entirely, the coldness she felt from Jasmine's attitude, the pain and loneliness Rin's smile brought upon her when Jasmine confessed to her. It seemed that no matter how much she tried to surpress it, there was no easing the suffering those memories brought her. Sorrow, anger, fear, doubt, guilt, there were so many feelings that could be described as being provoked through those memories.
However, just as she had expected Rin did blame her for the events of that night. She turned her gaze back toward Rin, feeling the tension in her body. What could she say? What should she do? This wasn't like a video game where the right answers could be sought for on the internet. Was in this case honesty really going to be the smartest thing to use? Perhaps not, but at least it would be the fairest option to take at this point. "When... I found that recording of when I was under the effect of my Quirk I truly was happy... To hear someone say that they loved me, it was for that reason I decided to go to the Music Night, because I wanted to answer you."
She felt her fingers curl up into a small fist, frustration, and anger at herself rising up within her. "But in the end that backfired because I couldn't handle the crude and cold treatment, Jasmine gave me back there, a feeling that only grew worse when she confessed to you. That look of joy upon your face was unlike any I had seen before. I... I believed that in that moment you loved Jasmine, that you had picked her and would end up pushing me aside just like she did that night when I tried to talk to her. I was lost and confused, and panicked..."
Indeed, it was the fear of being discarded like some used toy that had started her rebound. "However, I won't deny that it was thoughtless of me to seek to escape from those haunting feelings in Tetsuko's arms. When she asked to go out with me, I was afraid of losing the last person I had left at my side... so in my weakness, I accepted her confession."
Yet the words that followed seemingly struck a different chord, her voice raised slightly. "I didn't ignore that!" she felt her gaze lower back to the ground, hanging her head in shame as she muttered an apology and continued speaking. "When they flung those things at you, the first thing I did was seek out those people. I told them what had happened, that the things they said about you and Jasmine were lies. I didn't want Akio to say those things, or for Maxi to cause such a ruckus which was why I told them to apologize to you."
She felt her eyes get moist, tears of sorrow and guilt starting together as she continued. "That is why I didn't approach you personally. I wasn't ignoring you or avoiding you. It was because I felt that I didn't deserve to be at your side, not until I had been able to clear up things by talking to those who tormented the two of you like that, and earned your forgiveness."
However, it was the last bit, that left a different feeling. A coldness crept over her as Rin commented that she didn't feel anything, nor cared about the fact her parents had been attacked. If it had been anyone else a slapping hand would had been flying through the air already, but at this point, she couldn't blame Rin, she had been suffering on her own already, why should she have cared about someone else their pain?
"You're right, not caring or feeling anything about the fact my parents were murdered does make for a pretty shitty friendship." The Eisenberg-san... it really continued to haunt her, but the wording... "But even then, even shit can be cleansed, and maybe something can be found underneath all the dirt."
The reason she had sought for this meeting was for this in the end after all, and so she decided to continue onward, not knowing what answer she might get. "I still want to try to find out what is hidden underneath the dirt Rin, I want to learn more about you, become able to finally support you. To finally become able to become something more than a 'shitty friend'. Do you think that's possible? for that Eisenberg-san..." trying her utmost to smile, she could imagine what sort of pathetic and sorrowful excuse her smile would have looked like amidst the tears. "to become an Elise again?"
She knew all too well the risks this conversation had brought, but somewhere deep inside she prayed, hoped that something of the Rin she had worked in the infirmary with still remained, that there was still a fragment of their bond left. Perhaps one could truly say that they were on a crossroad, one path possibly leading to a recovery, but she also knew that if the other road was taken... it would likely lead to an ending she feared to experience.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy It really bothered Rin, honestly. There was something inherently annoying about it, when a person attempted to justify what they had done wrong, as if it would suddenly make things better. Either that, or Elise felt like explaining what had happened for... some reason Rin seemed incapable of grasping. I was emotional, I was sad, I saw things that ruined my night, so that makes it less bad that I ruined yours. At least, that was how it came off to Rin. The whole explanation was completely pointless. Rin had already stated that it wasn't a large problem for her, so why Eisenberg-san felt the need to clarify everything was beyond her. Perhaps this whole clarification was more for the sake of Eisenberg-san herself, than it was for Rin. A description given, a justification, so that Eisenberg-san would feel less terrible with herself. Either way, that whole segment of the conversation simply had Rin nodding, peering to the sample spinning in the machinery on occasion, then returning to nod some more. So far, Rin was nodding simply to indicate that she was listening. To indicate that the words vomitted out of Eisenberg-san's mouth were being received. The words however, meant absolutely nothing to the raven haired female. When, finally, Eisenberg-san managed to make the way through her little drama-ridden sob story, Rin shrugged. "Quite honestly, I don't care for the explanation. What you did, regardless of reason, is not how you treat someone you, allegedly, love. You most certainly did not see me treat you the same way. All you had to do was apologize." It was the honest truth. Rin, raised a finger, to let Eisenberg-san know that she was continuing speaking. There were several things that Rin needed to say. At least, she figured, that blaming Eisenberg-san for the things that she honestly faulted her for, would give the girl some peace of mind. Things that no longer needed to be said. Tension that no longer needed to be felt. In earnest, Rin wasn't feeling any tension, any hate, any grudge, towards the two girls, Shindou-san and Eisenberg-san. They were human. Humans made mistakes. Mistakes could be forgiven, especially when they were of this little importance. A singular bad night, a few weeks of rumors, then mostly everything had returned to normal. That is, discounting Nick Cross..."You'd say that Jasmine ruined your evening. Made you feel horrible. A girl you hardly knew, said something to you, which you didn't like, and your reaction was to break down. To put it into perspective, someone I loved was the direct cause of Akio-san, Maximillian-san and Darren-san shouting me off stage and making the whole crowd boo. If anyone was devastated, I was. On a sidenote, neither of the people you mentioned ever offered me an apology. Not that they need to. It's so far in the past..." Rin was speaking in a tone where, it remained completely clear, how little this affected her still. How little her emotions were threaded into the happenings of those specific events. Oh no, what followed during the night and the following day, was many times worse than Elise Eisenberg would even be capable of fathoming. "I don't care that you're together with Shindou-san. That you're happy is good enough. As I told Shindou-san, I hold no grudge towards your relationship." That was how Rin had always been. Accepting the pain, the misery, the loneliness, the backstabs, the drama, whatever people decided to throw at her basically. Despite all of this, the girl still hope'd they'd be happy. At the end of the day, Eisenberg-san and Shindou-san were worth far more to this world than herself. Their happiness versus her own..? It was easy to determine which was more important."...You broke nothing within me, which could not be repaired. Something else however, did. It broke something... I am not the same I was. I never will be. If you go digging, if you insist to come in closer, all you will find is guilt and misery. Just go, be happy with Shindou-san. Forget that you knew me. It would suit you best.. and seeing you happy, would suit me better than ruining your happiness." The calm, quiet tone in which Rin spoke, revealed how much she believed in the words that she had just spoken. In the time that Rin had gotten to know Eisenberg-san, it was evident. The girl was unwilling to let others suffer. The girl was unwilling to let friends go, because she, in her life, probably hadn't had too many others to rely on. It was why the burgundy haired lass relied so heavily on Tetsuko nowadays. Especially with her parentage situation being the way it was... "..There are some things you just can't change." Rin underlined. The thoughts going through Eisenberg-san's mind were clear as day. There is no way I'll be leaving you behind! - We'll find a way to make things right again. Rin understood that optimism. Rin understood the desire to help others, to work to make their lives better, to get them through the painful things, even if it meant accepting some of their burden. Yet, Rin also knew how badly it could devastate the burgundy haired lass, knowing that she was in part responsible for leaving Rin vulnerable and alone in the park that night. To know that she carried part of the blame, for what Nick had done to Rin. It was a burden that was not her's to bear. A burden that Rin wasn't sure Eisenberg-san could handle. Not with all the other things going on too. Rin knew that the girl had Tetsuko Shindou at her side. Rin knew that she wouldn't be alone, even if Rin herself wasn't there to support her. Rin knew that the two of them were happy, even if guilt seemed to plague the both of them... but how could that guilt compare to the truth..?"...Save yourself this time, Eisenberg-san. For the both of us. This is a battle you will not win."

Why did she bother explaining herself? It was clear that Rin didn't seem to care much about the explanation at all, the way she nodded, the earlier statement that what had happened wasn't a large problem for the raven-haired girl. Perhaps it was merely because Elise felt the need not to justify herself, but to explain her reasoning properly that the burgundy-haired girl did her best to explain things with utmost honesty. Nonetheless, Rin made it clear that she didn't care for the explanation in the slightest, and once more Elise felt that familiar coldness creep up onto her. She wasn't reaching, no matter how much she tried she couldn't reach Rin. Although Rin said that all she had to do was apologize, it was clear to Elise that had not been enough to fix things, as was evident when her earlier attempt to seek forgiveness through the gesture of a bow was not conveyed properly.
"..." Silence, silence lingered in the air as she heard that neither Akio or Maximillian had offered their apologies, and yet the tone of the girl made it clear just how little it meant to her, how disconnected Rin felt. Indeed, it wouldn't be wrong to say that her efforts had been useless. The fact that Rin didn't care about the fact she was together with Tetsuko didn't help the burgundy-haired lass much either, the comment about her happiness with Tetsuko being good enough and that she held no grudge toward them only intensifying that cold grip upon her. Did Rin seriously think that she could find happiness like this? That she could just smile things off and try to move on?
However, once more Rin's words hinted that something did happen that night, and that if she was to come in closer she would only find guilt and misery waiting for her. Was it Rin's attempt to protect her? A final goodbye gift to their lost friendship? Elise couldn't help but find a hand raised lightly, almost reaching out for Rin when she could feel that chill from before again. Was this really the way to do things? If she continued to reach out she would inevitably cause more suffering, she wouldn't just hurt herself, but drag both Rin and Tetsuko into her suffering.
Why... am I doing this?
It was a question that plagued her mind, and up till now she had always told herself it was because Rin was her first friend at U.A, the first person she had met in the wake of her time at the hero academy. If she was to give up now, then how could she possibly call herself a friend of Rin?
Aren't I doing this for my own satisfaction?
Once more the haunting thought plagued her mind, the thought she was doing this not for Rin's sake, but for her own, so she would feel a bit better about the whole matter. It truly haunted her, just as badly as the way Rin addressed her. When Rin commented that there were some things a person couldn't change, Elise felt her stomach churn lightly, a feeling of disgust welling up inside her. How long was she going to keep trying? What purpose did seeking out the truth have? Would it help Rin? Would it allow her to make things right again?
There I go again, thinking I can make things right, that I can redeem myself. It's always me me me...
It really made her realize how selfish she was, not even considering just how inconvenient that her actions were being for Rin.
Then again, could she truly do that? Could she truly... When Rin told her to abandon the battle, that for both their sake it was best for her to turn around and walk away the chill was finally at its most intense, but this time it didn't come from Rin, it came from her own heart, no doubt represented by the thought haunting her mind.
There is only one who cares... One who would never leave my side... Didn't I decide before that she would be the only one that matters?
Tears gathered again, this time enough to flow down her cheeks as she raised a hand to wipe them away with the sleeve of her shirt, a pointing gesture at the nearby machine being made. "The results you need will be printed on that machine once they are finished analyzing the samples." A short pause followed as she averted her gaze, trying her utmost not to show the pained expression on her face. "I'm sorry for everything Rin..."
Was this how things were going to end? This wasn't the way... the reason why...
"Thank you for everything."
Turning toward the entrance of the tent she decided to say the words she hated the most, words that she knew would likely be the last exchange between them. What was that Japanese phrase again? Ah right...
"Sayonara..."
Hesitatingly she started to step toward the gap of the tent, each step feeling as if a weight of concrete had been tied around her foot as she secretly prayed she would be stopped, yet it was a futile thing to hope for. She had hoped to enter this conversation with the chance of mending things, to restore their friendship to what it had once been, for there to be a chance to renew things. And yet all she had found was a collection of personal failures and mistakes.
It hurt, it hurt her immensely to feel the results of those failures, to know that she had lost one of the most precious bonds she once had. All she had wanted was to be able to be friends with Rin again, and instead, now... she wasn't sure what to call Rin. An acquaintance? Someone she had once known and called a friend? And yet the pain in her heart only continued to get worse, a painful stinging that reminded her of the thing she had lost, of the friendship that she couldn't earn back.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Eisenberg-san was internally struggling with how things had come and gone. Moments passed, the world around them continued to move. Rin was adjusting her chair, quietly inspecting the sample that was rotating in the machine besides her. Several rays of light illuminating the crimson red. From her peripheral vision, Rin saw the raised hand towards her. The other girl was steeling herself, prepared to accept the suffering that came along with being Rin's friend. If that was her decision, then Rin would accept it. At that point, there was nothing further to say, nothing further to do. The future would then reveal whether Elise-chan and Tetsuko-chan could recover from such a blow. Considering what had happened with her parents, it could swing both ways. Elise-chan had already shown an ability to recover from traumatic and horrifying experiences. At the same time, those events were still, likely, completely fresh in her mind. Adding more stress and guilt on top of it, might not be as easy to overcome. Turning her head, her sapphire blue eyes met with Elise's. Rin's lips parted, as if the girl was about to say something. Eisenberg-san's hand stopped reaching. The hand was lowered, as a new wave of doubt washed over the burgundy haired lass. The sapphire died from Rin's eyes, replaced with common glass. Lowering her head, changing angle, she looked at the sample again, calmly, relaxed. It was something Rin should've been aware of. How quickly and often Eisenberg-san changed her mind. For now, all that she could do was wait, calmly. Their conversation had reached a conclusion. An ending. Eisenberg-san had chosen that there was no need to altercate any further. No need to press more pain or damage into her world. Respecting that Rin was simply doing her best to prevent the worst. Smiling softly to herself, Rin just nodded. This is what her mind had wanted, even if what her heart needed to mend was something else. Well, needed was perhaps a strong statement. There were other people in her life, working incredibly hard to help her pull the pieces back together. Then came the apology, followed by a thank you for everything, followed again by a sayonara. Eisenberg-san had a strange way of over-dramatizing everything. Though, if them not being able to be close friends meant that she wanted nothing to do with the 1-A class president, then Rin could only oblige. Unlike Eisenberg-san, Rin was aware that the future could not be predicted so easily. No matter what decision Eisenberg-san made here, there would always be an upcoming encounter with Tetsuko Shindou-san. "Sayonara, Eisenberg-san." Bowing her head respectfully as the other girl left the tent, Rin took a soft breath, leaning back into the chair.
Closing her eyes, the machinery was whirring only a few paces away. Rin took a few moments to really think everything through. Had this been the correct way of things, that she had chosen..? Could the message have been given to Eisenberg-san in a way, that would've been less destructive...? Scratching her cheek, Rin was fairly sure there had been no other way. If Rin had been any less cold, any less unapproachable, Eisenberg-san would've brushed it aside, looking for warmth. Naturally, Rin didn't even consider the outcome of having been more cruel in her wording. Hurting Eisenberg-san intentionally had never been part of the equation. The real troubling question was, whether this was fine. Was it fine pushing away a person, that seemingly cared for you..? Despite all their flaws, all their mistakes, all their pointless drama, Eisenberg-san still only wanted to be friends. Yet, to be friends, she was essentially asking to be let into Rin's deepest fears, most agonizing pain... To demand to be let in, to make it a process that absolutely needed to happen... Rin didn't feel comfortable with any of it. There had been options where she had told Eisenberg-san that, in time, she might be able to talk about it... but Eisenberg-san didn't seem willing to be left in the cold for that long...
Slowly drifting off, Rin's breathing became deep and heavy. Slipping away into a land of dreams, the girl acquired some much needed rest. Surprisingly, Rin's emotional status was pretty good after this... Then again, she had had several days, weeks even, to come to terms with the two of them parting ways being a potential outcome. Conclusions had been reached. Compromises had been made. There was only one remaining obstacle to put this whole thing behind her, and have the secrets of what happened that night buried ten feet underground. Tetsuko Shindou-san had already made it very clear, that she'd be taking on the challenge. From their little sparring interaction, Rin also knew fully well, that the other girl was a warrior. Honor, dedication, promises. They all mattered a great deal to her... Would Tetsuko Shindou-san back off, or would they continue butting heads over what should and shouldn't be shared?
