It had seemed a rather strange and unique idea when Tetsuko had first seen Elise put it forward in the students' universal chat. This was before Tetsuko had realized just how deep the Germanic girl's fascination with firearms was, so it had been rather amusing at the time, seeing Elise propose such an activity. As far as Tetsuko had known, Eli had never even touched a gun of any kind! Of course, such illusions would be shattered during the military's stay, but that was a different story for a different time. Regardless of how surprising an idea it was, Tetsuko had immediately been interested in participating. A bit of competitive physical activity was never a bad thing, after all, especially with something so new to many of them. Tetsuko had never picked up any kind of gun before, so getting a bit of lighthearted experience wielding one would surely be a worthwhile endeavor.
In the interest of fairness, the teams had been randomly selected, and the resulting combinations were... Interesting, to say the least. Tetsuko found herself paired up with one Kanna Kusanagi, a girl who she had never met before. So, little to say there. On the opposing team was a pair of somewhat more familiar faces to Tetsuko. Chimera, a new classmate of hers who she hadn't had much to do with at all, and Rin Kurama. An acquaintance, Tetsuko supposed. With all that had happened, it had been a long time since Tetsuko had even seen Rin properly... They were still owed a talk sometime, hopefully soon now that everything had wound down to a degree. The Shindou girl was, obviously, a little nervous to see Rin again, given the confronting circumstances of their previous meeting, but the fact that Rin had even signed up for something like this seemed to be a sign she hadn't gotten worse, at the very least.
Ultimately, the best course of action for the swordswoman was to just be patient and casual. This wasn't an occasion for her to bring her hang-ups and worries into, this was a chance to have fun and compete!
Coming up to their game, Tetsuko and Kanna would both know the time and place of their start; they were the last round of paintball, and would have their prep chamber separate from the other time. As they were the final round, Tetsuko had decided to head in a little early and meet her teammate in the prep chamber, just to give herself a little more time getting used to the equipment. Unless Kanna had the same idea, she'd walk in after to see Tetsuko putting on the necessary protection. Paintball masks were a must, and the students likely would have been advised beforehand to come in clothing that provided sufficient coverage. Paintball guns weren't something to be treated as toys, after all.
Once Kanna had arrived, and the other team had gotten all prepped up, it was just a matter of waiting for their round to start. During which, strategy talks were certainly inevitable, as was getting used to the paintball guns, which Tetsuko was fairly certain none of the students would have used before. It hardly seemed likely for a Japanese highschooler to be familiar with firing any kind of firearm, after all. Tetsuko really was in for a surprise soon...
OOC Note: If you're the second one of your pair posting, feel free to end it with the start of the round, just so we can get things rolling!

377 WC WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO~ | Using a military base for paintball felt like using a fancy restaurant to host a pizza party, and yet here Chimera was, standing about in a black vest, gloves, boots, and a black sports hat that had the sides cut open for his horns to poke through. He couldn't use a helmet because of them, but hey, the flap in front of his face kept his eyes covered well enough. He hadn't actually wanted to join. Full-body armor and thick, white fur in the summer was shitty enough, but getting paint in his fur? Urrrrgh, he would be scrubbing it out for days. Why was he here, then, looking up at a wall full of various models of paint guns and debating his life choices? Well, it was a good opportunity to get to know his classmates, both in his room and the other two, and a chance to practice fighting against enemies with guns. He might even learn something from it.
...but the real reason was because he'd caught Yojin making a mini-gun in their dorm-room the day after the tournament was announced, and he just couldn't let the psychotic idiot go alone or he was going to kill somebody. Or himself.
When did I become a babysitter???
Picking up something he thought resembled a pistol, but with an orange tip and a cartridge full of little paint-balls, he looked at Rin, his teammate from 1-A, and grinned. They'd already decided on a crazy idea for how they were going to dive into this game, and it was going to be absolutely hilarious: he was going to carry her on his shoulders and run straight at them, devil-may-care and guns blazing. It was certainly not a "pro" strategy, but even if they lost--and he had to shower for an hour to clean off his fur--at least they were going to have fun.
A ton of fun.
"Want to run out on my shoulders, or wait til we get to cover first? Also, one pistol or two? If you can keep yourself steady with my horns I can use two, but if you need some support I can hold you with one arm and use only one gun."

Indeed, Elise had a very interesting idea, a casual, yet sufficiently competitive sport to rouse the blonde hacker's gamer instincts; an idea she approved enough to gain a bit more respect for the little nurse in training. They hadn't talked since that day when Kanna just gave it to her straight and told her exactly how she felt about the drama fest, and yet they parted in as good terms as one possibly could after getting bluntly criticized by a total stranger. And now here she was, grouped up with other participants, ready to find out who she'd be pairing off with, and who she'd go up against. One by one they all approached a bowl filled with random papers, inscribed with one of the eight two man teams that would partake in this game of stealth and marksmanship. Once two players had drawn the same team, most looked right at their partner, as was the case with Kanna. "Shindou Tetsuko, huh...", mused the blonde, arms crossed, eyes looking through the crowd of players until they fell on the face matching the name.
Yes, she knew the name very well, even though they'd never met. Spending this much time in school gave the blonde all the time she needed to memorize the names of students and faculty alike, and have enough information to put a face to those names. Yet her knowledge of Tetsuko came first and foremost from her relationship to Elise. She'd lost interest in the details of how they actually got together long ago - that subject had been beaten to death by everybody and their mother - but she could easily hazard guesses as to the friction between Tetsuko and one of the opponents; 1A's class president, Kurama Rin. Now, Rin was... Kanna struggled with finding the proper words to describe her acquaintance with her, motivated by a part of herself the hacker hardly understood. The closest explanation she'd ever reached laid in her own sympathy for victims for abuse, in a nudging desire to see her liberated from everyone's expectations. None of that mattered now though, they were here to play a game and blow off steam, and Kanna really, really hated losing. With everybody settled, they all headed for their team's respective locker rooms. The blonde walked in to find her teammate already half dressed, and promptly hurried getting rid of her street clothes.
"Yo, Tetsuko...", a quick wave and curt nod greeted the short haired girl the moment she saw her in the locker rooms. Not many pleasantries were needed on her side, though she'd most likely indulge if the girl wanted to make conversation, a minimum effort to build a measure of teamwork between the two... Kanna was mostly a solo player, yet years of gaming experience taught her the experience of at least not getting in your teammates way. Which defenitely required teamwork. Picking her inform, she clad herself in the offered military uniform, grabbing an assault rifle filled with paintballs, and a handgun sidearm she strapped to her left thigh. She'd tell the girl one or two strategies bouncing around her head, hoping to at least receive some form of feedback. Tetsuko was also a sportswoman, so she must have the competitive side down, and more importantly, she didn't look like the kind of person who hated thinking things through. She could think of couple students who fit that description, including one who had also joined their little paintball adventure: "Come on... Let's show 'em what we got.", she'd tell her, right as that budding fighting spirit peered through Kanna's aloofness, a fierce glimmer in her eyes accompanied by a smirk drawing on her lips. As they headed for the venue, they'd find a field themed after a desert battlefront, filled with sandbag barricades and battered down houses. Their base was a simple, well barricaded house, making it difficult for them to be gunned down inside it... Predictably, the opponent's base looked very much the same. They could see it across a ten meter wide road spanning the whole length of the paintball court. Several splashes of paint dotted the envoiroment, hinting at how it had been very much used before...

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy It hadn't really been Rin's decision to head to the paintball area, nor had it been her decision to sign up for this little event. It all came about as a combination of people had been pressuring her into returning more to living life. The principal had been very adamant that she wouldn't be sitting out from this event as one of the only students. That there were lessons out here that she needed to learn. So, the girl had looked at the different opportunities that presented themselves to her. The different things that she could be doing, which she may or may not get at least some enjoyability out of. Things that she in the regular work and daily life at Yuuei, wouldn't be capable of experiencing on the regular. One of those things, had been paintball. Rin had expected a couple of signups, a couple of one-on-one's, maybe somewhat fo a team capture-fhe-flag gamemode. This, a two-on-two tournament, wasn't what the raven haired female had been imagining. At all. Being in a team of two, meant that she was completely liable for the experiences of whoever she had been placed on teams with. Combine that with the fact, that it was a student from another class, that undoubtedly had heard tons of negative things of the 1-A class president from the borderline smear campaign that Alex Deraine and Daimon Darren had been running in recent times. Sighing softly, she had arrived to the gearing up area, getting changed into a protective vest, a pair of goggles to protect her eyes, plus various holsters. The outfit made her look like a soldier. It even made her feel somewhat like a soldier. It honestly looked quite badass. For a weapon, Rin had chosen somewhat of an SMG. A short little thing, with a backstock, allowing her good rate of fire without suffering the weight or recoil of a heavier weapon. In short, Rin was prepared for close to medium ranged combat. The girl's partner for this little interaction was someone from 1-B if she had understood everything correctly. Chimera. It was a rather strange name. Rin was fairly certain that whomever this individual was, there had to be an actual name behind the visage. Not that Rin was in any state of mind to go digging or investigating. Thus, when the tiny female met up with her teammate, it hardly came as a surprise that they were dealing with a mutation. Chimera suddenly made sense. This was literally, in the sense of the word, a chimera. Though, Rin was not one to judge, not by any stretch of the word. If the mutation type quirks were less human, then the same could be said for anyone else holding a quirk. It wasn't a distinction that she felt comfortable making. Thus, Rin greeted Chimera with a soft smile and a wave of her hand. "Greetings, Chimera-san." Stepping closer, she inadvertedly began feeling incredibly small compared to his size. At least when it came to his height. Weight wise, the boy-beast seemed incredibly skinny. - If Rin was to take a guess, if he had been down at her height, he would've been at a regular BMI. For his size, it was almost certain he was underweight. Casually conversing, Rin wanted to give him a little insight into what the truth was. Rin was just a regular girl. There wasn't anything demonic, angelic or special about her. "...Won't getting paint out of your fur really suck?.. If you need help getting the spots washed out of your back afterwards, I'll give you a hand." The white fur was... actually quite pretty. Though Rin imagined that any kind of dirt, mud or otherwise could color him borderline brown...Clearing her throat, Rin wasn't quite sure what type of person Chimera was. Competetive would mean that they were out there in an attempt to win, and that she had something to live up to. If instead Chimera, much like Rin, had come there to relinquish some responsibility and have a bit of harmless fun, then the two of them might be able to get out of this little interaction with a smile on their lips.. "..Our opponents are Kanna Kusanagi-san, and Tetsuko Shindou-san." Rin began talking, quietly introducing what little information she knew about the two girls. "Shindou-san seems quite stoic, traditional, mayhaps even slightly old fashioned. I think she would be trying her best to win." Rin deduced in a simple fashion. "Kanna-san is always on her computer. Probably thinking quite a bit. The last thing they'd suspect.." Rin, smiling warmly, giggled softly to herself. "Is a two-man mobile turret! I like the idea. Though, if I hurt you with the horns or stuff, please let me know. This is meant to be fun, afterall, yeah?... You can definitely have two pistols." With those things said, Rin was more than prepared to be placed onto Chimera's shoulders. Loading the SMG, the girl was prepared to head into the warzone.

"Ah, Kanna-san." Tetsuko's teammate arrived on time, looking a bit different from how the Shindou girl had expected. From what the Shindou girl did know of Kanna via the chat and other general knowledge, she was a bit of a computer enthusiast. So, Tetsuko had kind of been expecting to witness someone who, well, didn't exactly get out much. Kanna defied that misconception by the old-fashioned Shindou girl, put simply. Bowing slightly to the girl as she came in, Tetsuko would find the girl a willing participant what strategy talk they had while getting changed.
"...I don't know much about Chimera-san, nor Rin-san when it comes to abilities, other than that she's pretty smart, so there's not much we can reliably anticipate from them." Although it would've been nice to talk more about their opponents, Tetsuko regrettably knew little about either of her opponent's abilities. Well, aside from Rin's capacity for some level of bloodlust... Not that that would be brought out here, she hoped. "On our end, I'm reasonably quick on my feet. I'll try and take point." The Shindou girl was already formulating her own independent ideas as she readied up, donning her own military-esque uniform and picking up a simple carbine for her choice of gun. It was the first time Tetsuko had ever held a 'real' modern firearm, the closest experience she had was holding an antique tanegashima ages ago.
It felt a little funny, but holding it to her shoulder and looking down the sights, Tetsuko got a used to it fairly quickly. Well enough to use it, at least. After talking strategy a bit more with Kanna and making sure she was stocked fully with paintballs, Tetsuko would set out with her competitive teammate, hearing the young blonde's proud declaration. "Yeah, I'm with you... Time to win." In spite of respecting both her opponents to some degree, or perhaps because of it, the swordswoman was eager to prove herself in this paintball skirmish, alongside her rather intriguing teammate, of course. Although Kanna shared her competitive spirit and fighting spirit, the two girls really were an odd juxtaposition.
Old fashioned samurai and new age hacker, a pair that set out onto the desert battlefield that would be the stage of their conflict. Tetsuko moved low and swift, taking note of the highly effective fortifications on either side of the field. Mostly to prevent them from being hit immediately after returning, she suspected. The opponents' base looked similarly fortified, and across the environment remnants of past skirmishes could be seen. A bloody battlefield, to be sure... Tetsuko would do as she'd described, moving with swiftness to scout ahead, using the sandbag barricades as cover. She had to be vigilant for the opposition, who were surely moving in a highly practical and tactical manner themselves...

416 WC very serious strategy | Chimera grinned a little easier as Rin approached him and her first concern was that his fur was going to get stained. It was nice of her to think about little issues like that. He scratched lightly at his throat and gave a small, but not dismissive, laugh. "Yeah, it will. To be honest I'm here to keep somebody else in check, but got roped into the match to keep teams even. Can't say I wouldn't appreciate the help. Thanks Rin. Erh. Kurama-san? I. Am still not great at the honorifics thing. So. Feel absolutely free to correct me on that."
"Don't worry about my horns, they're sturdy! And I've given more than just you piggy-back rides with them." Chimera beamed as he picked up the second 'gun' and holstered it at his hips. He had done water-gun fights at home, sure, but these things weren't some giant neon-colored NEEF gun like ones he was used to. Much lighter and easier to dual-wield, at least he assumed. These things wouldn't have the same kick that real guns were supposed to, right? Once he was prepped with extra ammo--and had put on a pair of goggles in place of a face-guard, thanks to his muzzle--he knelt down for Rin to climb up.
She was just as light as one of his little sisters, so he lifted her up without fail. Beneath that ridiculously thin body of his was a whole lot of lean, strong muscle after all. He moved out from their little safe-house and out into the terrain with a toothy grin, his ears perked up to listen for twigs snapping or guns reloading in the distance. It was hard to stealth with his height, let alone with another person atop his shoulders, but stealth was not an issue when you weren't trying to be sneaky. Instead they were going straight for the charge.
So as soon as they'd made it to their little base, Chimera started counting down from five...four...three...--he heard footsteps across the field--...two...
"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAWR!"
Chimera bolted out from behind cover with pistols in hand and charged gleefully at the enemy base, shooting straight for where he'd heard footsteps before. He was being more careful than he would be to not buck Rin off of his shoulders, but she said she would be fine. Besides, she had handlebars.
And she was way higher up than those chest-high walls could protect.

WORD COUNT: TAGGED: TAGGED: Fluffy Watching him with a soft smile on her lips, Rin kept being reminded that, despite what people may have looked like with their mutations, underneath all of that fur and borderline sheepy visage, was a regular person. A regular person with regular needs, interactions, dreams and desires. For some people, seeing past that visage and understanding the personality that lay vested underneath could be difficult. For someone like Rin, who held no judgemental feelings in her heart, it was relatively easy. Shaking her head from side to side when he mentioned struggling with honorifics, Rin gave a short, concise reply. "You need not worry about honorifics. I can tell you mean no offense, Chimera-san... but either you'd address me as Kurama-san, or Rin-san. If you wished to state my full name, it'd be Kurama Rin-san." Offering him a simple, kind smile to underline that she was absolutely serious, the only reason she had really explained it to him, was for his sake. It was very clear in her demeanor that Rin wasn't too bothered if he had messed it up. Although, she found it rude when he had asked so politely, to not at the very least point him in the right direction. Thinking for a few moments, Rin began messing with her raven-dark hair. Gathering two locks of hair, the pigtails were folded into themselves several times, until she had gathered her long ravendark hair into two buns. At the very least if she was to be climbing onto Chimera, it'd be highly unfortunate if he was to get her hair in his eyes or face. Thus, she prepared herself as best as she could...
As Chimera slowly lowered himself, allowing Rin to take hold and climb up, the girl realized a couple of things immediately. The most apparent one, was that Chimera wasn't half as heavy as the girl expected. The pristine white fur took up a lot of space, and thus made him look significantly heavier than the young female herself, but having a hold of him, she could tell that he wasn't that heavy at all. In fact, she was fairly confident that if she tackled him unaware from behind, she could knock him over just as easily as any other student. The second thing Rin noticed, was his confidence in himself. For many, including Rin herself, having confidence in one's quirk could be quite the troublesome affair. A quirk that required you to hurt yourself, a quirk that involved blood, often seen more as a villainous trait than a heroic one. Yet, despite very likely having been called a goat, or satan, or otherwise such demeaning comparisons, Chimera had confidence in his horns, in his visage. Capable of letting it all go in favor of having fun. In some ways, Rin admired this in him. It made the raven haired female ever so slightly happier.
Rin's choice of weapon had been something resembling an SMG. A shorter, fully automatic weapon that functioned best in close to mid quarters combat. Having literally no skill with weapons, she figured that being able to unleash a hail of bullets without much recoil was the best course of action. At the very least, this way there was a chance she could get lucky and hit a stray paintball onto the enemy team here or there. Sitting on his shoulders, he seemed completely unaffected by her being there. Rin had made sure to check, it wasn't uncommon among her friends to pretend to be okay with something despite struggling. So, from here, they were finally free to focus on having a bit of fun. Reloading the SMG, aiming down the sights, both Chimera and Rin rocketed forwards. It really was amazing how much traction they were having. From up this high too, Rin could peer quite far and wide, seeing over most of the obstacles that were meant as cover. If they at all encountered the enemy, Rin wouldn't hesitate to fire! Though, given her inexperience, the recoil would likely have her miss in every other direction than the enemies...

Well, Tetsuko was obviously on to something there... Indeed, Kanna preferred not to get out much, but she did so daily, only if she had a good reason to. School was one such reason, so was checking out the military base. And after those days spent at the beach, she didn't look nearly as pasty as her hermitic nature might imply. "Indeed, I know next to nothing about one, and the other can be... Hard to predict.", Kanna nodded, scratching behind her ear as she thought back to all those hours spent playing Counter Assault, "And I'm kinda used to military tactics..." But indeed Kanna recognized a certain disadvantage. Rin's shifting mental state made her harder to truly antecipate, while Chimera was a complete wildcard. On the other hand, she also hoped her opponents would overestimate their desire to win at all costs. While Kanna defenitely hated losing, she'd come her to blow off steam first and foremost, and simply sitting around wouldn't do it for her. No, she'd take the offensive, and together with Tetsuko they'd seize the reins of the battle to come. "That way.", Kanna spoke up, pointing to a better forward than simply charging forth through the wide open space. Even though they had plenty of cover, they also had quite a bit of ground to tread between sandbags, as well as plenty of odd angles and blind spots opponents could shoot at them from. She didn't really expect a guaranteed ambush, but she did find it the most dangerous strategy to deal with, as a well timed surprise attack could get both of them without much of a fight. For this reason, she found it preferreable to quickly point towards a nearby alley, pointing it out to Tetsuko. Plenty of cover, and far less places for hidden foes to start shooting from...
At the same time, neither did she expect her opponents to resort to such an outrageous plan, charging headfirst on a makeshift human tank. Thankfully, they were still at the other end of the arena, with more than enough space between both teams they'd have time to see it and react to that battlecry, with the blonde's frenzied should to her teammate drawing her attention. As if she'd ever miss something so flashy anyway. "Take cover!!", Kanna gasped and shouted to her teammate, quickly rolling into the alley, strafing away from the line of fire now that mere sandbags could no longer project them. Bullets whizzed past them the whole way before she'd manouver into the alley hopefully with Tetsu beside her, and from there into a makeshift house. Crouch behind some windows at ground level, Kanna took a moment to catch her breath and assess the situation, half thinking out loud and half addressing her teammate, "Tch... To think I'd see Class Prez going with a tactic this flashy." Even pinned down like this, the blonde couldn't help but grin, her fighting spirit roused as the gamer faced a far more interesting challenge than she expected. Nope, no way Rin and Chimera would ever make it easy for them, yet to think they'd go this far... "Omoshiree~", she mused, poking her gun out the window and spraying a few rounds in the human turret's general direction, making sure to keep her head down. She only had sound and the direction of the opponent's bullets to guide her, so she didn't really expect any hits from this, more of keeping the opponents on their toes, "One of us should draw their attention, the other will flank them. If we get Chimera, Rin will be wide open when she's forced to dismount him."
