Cian's assessment of each class was done and it was finally time to move on to the teaching phase of things. With recent tragic accidents in the news, Cian felt that it was important to accelerate the teachings on the most basic of rescue techniques. It was one of the things the students needed to work on based on the assessment from the beginning of class. It was all too real how quickly a situation where these techniques would be useful would appear. So the next time the students were in a rescue operation's class, Cian took them out to the training facilities for a new course he had designed. This time, it was different and there would be more instruction. It was a class for teaching, so there would be no grades or exams. However, it was important that the students learn these techniques so that they could apply them to future exams that he would prepare for them. The main subject of today's class was simple, handling victims. A number of mannequins were injured the last time he had a class, so teaching the students to be delicate with them was important. It was also important for them to gain some confidence in helping others when no one else was around. They were still children and not all of them were strong. But as a hero, they would have to help those in need and learning how to carry a heavy person was important. Once the class was together and gathered, the man stood in front of them with his hands held behind his back. His black robes and metal mask were the same as before. A single eye could be seen through the mask. In fact, most of the skin on his body was completely covered. All except for a little bit around his neck and his ears. Between that and his white spiky hair, Cian showed only a little of himself. "Welcome to your first official Rescue Operations class. A number of you are meeting me for the first time. I am Cian Glave, a former firefighter from Osaka. I've come to teach you all how to rescue civilians safely and today, we will be practicing handling the injured."He stepped to the side, showing a number of temporary walls set up into four different courses. They were all straight lines and on the other end was a line of mannequins designed to be carried through the course. It wasn't anything difficult and pretty easy to traverse. Behind Cian was a single mannequin that he was going to demonstrate on. It was standing in an upright position and facing forward. The mannequins in the first course were lined up the same way. Each mannequin was adult sized but was light enough for even the smallest in the class to be able to carry if they really exerted themselves. Cian knew that it would be hard for some of them, but it was important that these things were learned. This was the place to do it, rather than at the festival that caused so much trouble. "I'll start with the demonstration of the first technique. It is useful for carrying those that are bigger than yourself." He stepped over to the mannequin and stand in front of it. "First, place your strong leg between their feet." He said as he moved his right in front, but in between the mannequin's feet. "You'll want this leg to be the one that you put most of your weight on." He then brought the mannequin's right arm over around his neck as he started to squat a bit. "You will then duck your head under their arm and shoulder in preparation for the lift. You use your other hand to grab around the area of their knees to lift them up to your shoulders and back." He proceeded to hoist them p and balance the mannequin on his shoulders. His hands were placed on the back of the mannequin's knees and their wrist to keep them balanced on position. "And with this position, I want you to take them through the first course on the far end. Place be careful and do not be afraid to ask me for guidance. Oh, and don't be afraid to use your quirks." With these instructions done, he allowed the students to go to the first end of the first course. A line of mannequins was set up in position for them to each have their own. They had to carry the mannequin in the position they were showed through the course and then place them back down safely. As for the course itself, it was really simple. It started with about twenty feet of clear space so that the students could make room for each other and get adjusted to the weight of the mannequin. The next part was a winding section of walls the students had to move through. They had to move back and forth through the walls, which meant they couldn't proceed in a straight line. The third section was an upward inclining ramp that led to downward stairs. It was meant to simulate having to move through an inclined area or down a set of stairs in a rush. And in the final section, there were two walls the students had to get through. The first needed to them duck under it with the mannequin in hand while the other needed to to get over it. The first wall gave roughly three and a half feet of room to duck under while the second wall they had to go over was two feet tall. If they messed up or damaged the mannequin, Ciian would have them restart from the beginning until they completed the course safely.
So this time it is less of a writing prompt and more just a single round of posts following the directions. There will be four rounds, one for each course. This is less a solo and more just a topic tog et them taught a thing. If your character has a simple question to answer, assume that Cian gives them an answer. My next post will be directions and instructions for the next course, so try to complete this one on this round unless you intend for your student to lag behind as a part of their story. Any OoC questions can be directed to me on Discord. Next round is in two weeks or if everyone in the class has posted. If you want your characters to have on extended conversations during class, try to have your own topic for it so that this one doesn't become flooded. I want to try and keep things as one post per round. There is no posting order since this is mostly just completing the tasks given, just a single post between my posts. - Link for handling instructions I based the course on. - Link for bad paint art of the first course--You'll be going from the bottom to the top --The course is indoors --Red is the ramp going up (the arrows show the incline) and the green is the stairs down.

Brun was wearing the schools gym clothes as he stood in the crowd of students waiting to participate in the rescue operation. The boy yawned. Was this really something he needed to do? The correct answer was yes. if he wanted to become a hero he'd have to save those in need. Despite his rather Lazy nature, the boy was one of the first to hoist the mannequin over his shoulder. "We can us our quirks ey?" He looked at the course and looked back at his teacher. He'd Sigh and approach the entrance to the starting area while reaching into his pocket. He'd Pull out a battery and flick it into the air. He'd tun back towards his instructor. "I'm only using this because it'll be faster for you to grade me." Opening his mouth the battery would fall in and he'd swallow. Lightning would crackle around his body as he donned his armor. The lightning would form into a white cloth that only revealed his eyes. The Lightning Dagger lay sheathed in his belt as he held the mannequin above him. "It's been a while since I last used Spark Stream. Let's see if I remember how." With that said he dashed off at an unbelievable speed Starting off. As he ran straight the path got narrower until he approached a turn. He'd jump forward and plant his feet on the wall and hop off the walls bouncing back and forth without a reduction in his current speed. After exiting the last turn he sprinted up the slope still going as fast as ever. After reaching the top he'd jump towards the nearest wall and run down it without using the stairs to slow him down. He'd hold a single hand out for balance while holding securing the mannequin with his other. After reaching the bottom he'd slide under the wall with space under it however he continued sliding. As his foot hit the second wall he'd kick off it sending him back to the first at an angle going up slightly. He'd Throw the mannequin up into the air mid way and as his feet caught the second wall he'd angle himself upwards again for the second jump. On his way over the second wall he'd Catch the mannequin and sling it back onto his shoulder. After landing on the other side and successfully reaching the finish line he'd place the mannequin down in front of the instructor and sigh. "Can I go now?"

Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell It was once again time for the rescue operations classes. It was one of the main staples of the hero course and an important thing to learn for any hero. In the last class, Nyke messed up, She was the first to enter the course, but ended up focusing too much on defeating the villains and forgetting the save the hostage int he situation. This time she was determined to do better. Not only that, but she damaged the mannequin from before when she gripped it too hard. She was stronger than she looked and needed to be careful to not hurt the injured and sick in situations like these. It seemed that today's class was going to demonstrate just that. It was instruction on how to safely handle and carry those that needed saving. Like the rest of the class, Nyke was dressed in her gym uniform. It was much the same as the others except for one detail. There was a tailor-made hole in the back of her pants for her tail. She was one of the students with a mutation quirk and her uniform needed modifications to adjust for it. It wasn't as intense as some other mutation quirks out there, but that was because the majority of it was inside of her body. The metal bones she had completed the demon machine physiology that was her quirk. As for the teacher, he was much the same. This time he took the time to introduce himself and even show how they were supposed to carry the mannequin through the first course. It looked like this time they weren't going to be judge ad it was a purely instruction based class. And with the directions done and techniques showed, it was time for everyone to put things into practice. Silently, Nyke walked to where the row of mannequins was at the back of the course. Carrying the wasn't going to be an issue. She had the strength to move them pretty easily even if she was small. It was more a matter of being gentle than anything else. There was no time limit or rush, so Nyke took her time and walked slow. As instructed, she positioned herself in front of the mannequin and performed the motions needed to carry it over her shoulder. It wasn't exactly as Cian had shown them, but it was close enough that Nyke didn't have to struggle to get the mannequin into position. ANd with a small turn, she faced the course that was laid out in front of them. She saw a few students ahead of her and one even disappearing with a cackle of electricity. It seemed that some people were more in a rush than others were. However, Nyke was fine with taking her time. She wanted to focus on carrying the mannequin safely. With a secure hold on the thing, she walked through the open space before the walls up ahead. She made sure to slow down or speed up to get as much room as possible so she wouldn't bump into anyone else. As she reached the second section, Nyke moved along the now curved path. She made sure to stay roughly in the middle of the wall segments so she wouldn't bump the mannequin against them. Each turn she made wide so that she wouldn't hit the edge and got through them at a decent pace. Next up was the ramp, which she climbs without trouble. She was short and closer to the ground, so the ramp and the following stairs weren't a huge problem for her. She didn't have an issue with tripping or anything. Once that was done came the final area. Here she had to move under one wall with the mannequin. Nyke opted to turn herself to the side an inch under it with a very low squat. She extended one leg out under the wall and then slide her body and the mannequin under it before moving her other leg under as well. It was like cheating the limbo. And with that done, she finished the first course. She set the mannequin down with the rest and returned to the area she was standing at before. She did glance up at Brun Azir who was already asking to leave. To answer his question, Nyke simply pointed over to the other three courses, assuming they were going to have to do each of them. Rescue class had come again and Ericka was looking to improve. She knew that the first one was only an assessment to see what needed to be taught, but Ericka was embarrassed with how things went last time. While she got into the building and to the hostage without too much trouble, her rushing caused her to trip down the steps and tumble. It hurt, but not in a permanent way. If that had been a real situation, things would have turned out much worse. Additionally, the hostage in question could have lost a lot of confidence in Ericka's ability to save them. So Ericka wanted to make sure she did well on the rest of the classes in this course so that she could be a successful hero. Reducing others was the majority of the job after all!
Once again, the class took place at the training facilities, but this time it was indoors. The teacher, Cian Glave, was waiting for them again and went on to explain things once everyone was gathered. Ericka looked at her other classmates, curious about who was going to show up and who wasn't Sometimes it felt like her class was very small with how few of them came to the different classes. Were they serious about being heroes? Ericka mauled over the question in her mind until the teacher spoke up and started to demonstrate what they were going to do. His handling of the mannequin seemed so professional. It made sense since he was a fireman. It was an everyday thing for him. Ericka admired that and hoped that she could one day do the same. This class was the first step in all that!
And once the demonstration was complete, it was the classes turn to move through the course. She walked up with the rest of her classmates to the line of mannequins and smiled. "Be careful everyone," she said to the others to try and be a little helpful. SHe knew that some wouldn't take it as seriously and others would show off, but it was an important statement to make. Doing as she was instructed, she hoisted the mannequin onto her shoulders and spread her feet apart to make sure she was balanced. It took a bit of shifting around, but she got the thing settled in a nice spot on her back. And with that, Ericka moved toward the course.
She was ahead of Nyke, but didn't run through it like Brun did. He immediately used his quirk and zapped through the course so quickly. She was able to keep up with his movements, but she was still impressed with what he had done. Ericka, on the other hand, moved at a steady pace. She zigzagged through the first set of walls and up the ramp without missing a beat. But when it came to the stairs, she put extra care into moving so that she didn't have a repeat of last time. She made sure to be careful with each step, even if it slowed her down. And on the last section, she got all the way down to her knees and crawled under the first wall and then took a careful hop over the second to finish things up. Placing the mannequin down, she smiled and clasped her hands together. "I think the fun is just beginning!"

You leave me here wondering if I'll ever know How much you care, or how much you don't If you're going to be somebody's last time, baby be mine. “ Rescue class had come around again and Kyla was set and ready for another helping of it. The previous class was interesting and even fun. Even if it wasn't for a real grade, she liked the course and wanted to do more of them. So when the class was instructed to go change into their uniforms and meet up at the training facilities, Kyla was all for it. She quickly changed and made her way down there with her classmates to see what else the rescue operations teacher had in store for them. This was the one extra class they had that differed from things like general studies and other schools. They were actually going t learn how to save people and make sure they were safe. Once they were in the building, Kyla looked over at the courses that were already laid out. It seemed like there was more than one this time, but this course was smaller and more direct. It wasn't the mystery or scenario that the first one had. It disappointed her a bit, but also made her wonder what exactly they were going to do this time. So when the teacher started to speak up, Kyla perked up and looked toward him. She placed her hands in front of her, holding them together in what would be her lap if she was sitting down. He explained that they were going to carry the mannequins through the course and then explain certain holds they were going to use. It was like something out of a television show. She seen this before but never thought of it as an official technique for carrying others. Kyla wasn't one to expect authenticity out of her drama programs. She made sure to watch carefully so that she could repeat the action and be able to replicate it when she started the course. "Seems simple enough," She said aloud, confident that her class wouldn't have too much trouble with that sort of thing. SHe looked at her classmates with an attempt to smile, though she was unable to move her expression to do such a thing. Nyke had her usual scowl and Ericka was as pleased as she always was. Brun was ready to go and one of the first to the mannequins once they were instructed to try the course out. Following him, Kyla made her way over to the line of pretending civilians and nodded to herself as she picked one out. The moment she grabbed it, she could feel the weight on the mannequin. It was about the same weight as the one from the introductory class, so she wasn't too surprised. She took a moment to steady herself and get the mannequin into position with the instructions that the teacher gave. However, after a few moments of moving it around, she was having an issue balancing it on her back. She understood where she was supposed to hold it, but getting the grip right and the balance good enough to move through the course was harder for her. Fortunately for her, this class was one where they could use their quirks freely. In fact, it was encouraged for the most part. So Kyla released the nodes from her back that was her Nasod Spears. They dropped out the back of her shirt and unfolded into their normal shape to float at about shoulder height. She was planning to use their to help support the mannequin on her back in the position that it was in so that she could move through the course without it slipping off her. With that settled, Kyla was ready to do the thing! Her Nasod Core flashed a smiling face emoji as she started through the course with confidence and moved through the alternating walls with little trouble. She cut the corners a little close but was able to keep the mannequin safe from damage. The ramp was easy to move up. There was nothing in the way and the incline was gradual enough that it didn't give her much of a problem. The same went for the stairs. She noticed that some students were more careful than others on them, but that was for the best. The mannequin's safety was a top priority. When it came to the last two walls, Kyla was going to need to put in some extra effort here. Instead of moving the mannequin on her back under the first wall, she supported most of its weight with her spears. That way she could free up her hands a little bit to make going under the wall easier. The same went with the last wall that she had to climb over. With her hands-free, she could hoist herself over it with ease while keeping the mannequin secure. As she exited the course, she let out a breath and placed the thing down on the ground. Taking a moment to stretch, she looked up at her fellow classmates and nodded to them. "Seems we all did well, yeah?"”

these rapid eyes will keep on moving After missing the first class, Lani was all revved up for her first time in the rescue operations class. SHe heard about how they got to do a course and show off their skills. The idea of this excited Lani. SHe would love to see what kind of ability and technique her classmates had. SHe wanted everyone to turn into a badass in her class, so them doing the courses and classes well were important to her. She was going to be a part of the best class, so that was just going to be a part of it. And if anyone was falling behind, she was going to help them to become better! It was just how Lani was.
As for the class itself, Lani went to change into her gym uniform, though she would wear it as incorrectly as her school uniform. SHe kept the jacket open and didn't even wear the shirt under it. Her bra could clearly be seen even in a normal standing position. The bottoms were rolled up on her legs to just below her knees so that her shins were out in the open. The same was going on with her sleeves. It was as if the girl was trying to show as much skin as possible, which was true. She needed light touching her skin, so she exposed herself more than most would. Having done so for so long, Lani grew accustomed to being this way and didn't mind it at all. Confidence was a powerful thing.
As for the class, it seemed they were going to learn how to carry people around. It made sense. Sure, just any way would do, but the proper technique was useful for those that were hurt. She didn't want to knock someone's head off trying to help them. What the teacher, CIan, showed them was a position that had the injured person on her back. Lani was tall, so it was a lot of weight to host up that high, but she was sure she could do it. The teacher was a little weird though. She couldn't help but imagine him smiling under the mask as if this was a game to him. Why was he wearing a mask anyway? He was like the complete opposite of Lani in that he covered as much of himself as possible.
Once everything was explained, Lani quickly made her way over to the mannequins they were going to carry through the course. She wanted to try this thing out and was eager to get it down. As instructed, she placed her foot behind the mannequin's legs and followed the motions the teacher showed them. It took her a few attempts, but Lani was able to get the thing into position and stand up safely and securely. Her gym uniform jacket was pushed to the side a bit because of the way she got the mannequin on her shoulders, but in a situation where someone needed to be rescued, she couldn't worry about that. And with that settled, Lani jogged into the course to make her way through among her classmates.
Everyone seems to be handling things well and in their own way. It put a smile on Lani's face to see the different ways everyone handled things. As for the course itself, it wasn't too difficult in the beginning. Moving through the walls was as simple as slowing down and making careful turns. The ramp and stairs were there just to make sure her footing was good and the final two walls were all about flexibility. All things were things that Lani could handle as long as she thought them through. And by the end of it, she placed the mannequin down on the ground and her hands on her hips with a grin on her face. "That's the best class for ya!" ulla

Cian was quite pleased with how quickly some of the students picked up the task and completed it. Truth be told, this wasn't his first time instructing someone else o how to carry an injured person in this way, but it was his first time having a class to do it for. Seeing the students pick up the process so well made him confident about the second course that was going to take place. This time he was going to give a little less hand holding to see how the children figured out what to do. The man took a few steps to the side until he was standing in front of the next set of walls that lined the second course. This was one more active than the first and showed that the students were going to have to think on their feet a little more. There were some familiar aspects of the course that they would see from the assessment course earlier in the school year. "Only a few more tasks complete Azir-san." He chimed in when Brun asked if he could leave. The class wasn't going to be that simple. "And don't get too ahead of yourselves girls." He added, speaking to Kyla and Lani in particular. If they wanted a real challenge, he could provide it, but he had to remember this was supposed to be a learning experience, not a test. When the exams came he was truly going to have some fun with the things he had in store. The masked man held out his hand and calmly motioned toward the second course. "On this course, you'll practice escorting a civilian while under fire." He said with a brief smile under his mask. "You see, those that commit crimes with their quirks will use them to hurt you and others. They will attack civilians in order to distract you from catching them or because they want to harm a particular individual. You must learn to protect people and escort them to safety while dealing with villains." He honestly thought those kinds of people were despicable, but he also knew that some were just desperate. Either way, what was most important was the life of the innocent. People getting caught in the crossfire of the battle between heroes and villains was not a good thing. And if being a hero was to stay a professional career then it was important to put the safety of others first. "Please, take a mannequin and get it through the course without it taking any damage. Your job is to protect it from harm, even if you should come to harm yourself. You are a hero and putting others before yourself is not only your job, but that makes you different from a criminal. It's not about personal gain, but the safety of those you watch over." And with that, the students were free to pick up a mannequin from the pile and run the course. This one was shorter but involved a little more freedom in approach. "Oh and bonus points for taking out the villain as well." He added as he was interested in seeing who could take the chance to do it. Ideally, he wanted them all to, but he wanted to see if anyone made the effort. The course ahead of them was split into three basic sections. The first had soft rotating poles with short foam bats attached to them. As the pole spun, the bats spun with them. They wouldn't hurt too much, but it was enough force to knock the mannequin out of a person's hand if they were hit in an awkward way. The middle section was a little more devious. It was lined with little airsoft guns that would start firing once a person entered that section. Cian didn't expect the students to dodge the pellets or anything, but what was important was that they shielded the mannequin from the fire in some way. If the thing took too many shots, Cian would ask the student to do the course over again. And at the last section was a cardboard cutout of a villain. It had a foam bat in one "hand" and a little airsoft pistol in the other. Once a student was close enough the device would swing the bat around and shoot pellets at the student in a final attempt to stop them. Just like before, all that was needed to take it down was enough about the force of a teenage girl doing a full body tackle to knock it over and consider it defeated.
((I gave some leeway last time, but two weeks for real this time =3)) -Note: the cardboard villain will pop back up once defeated, so multiple people can "defeat" it.

The complete and utter failiure of last time shook Miku. Nobnaga also didnt help with his words and actions. For someone who wanted to be a Rescue Hero, she was a failiure herself.
She stood in the back and watched the teacher Cian Glave show them and properly instruct them how to carry someone who was bigger then you by using mannequins. Miku tried to look at her teacher very carefully and he tells and instructs everyone what to do. Before she knew it Brun did everything in a flash. And then after that everyone else did. Nyke was also very capable. Ericka handled the course well. Kyla was great. And Lani was amazing as always. Compared to them, Miku really felt so inferior she just waned to vanish. It made her feel like an inadequate and inapropriate person.
When she finally amassed some courage or even willpower to approach the mannequin. She did everything correctly as the teacher instructed. Although as usual everything was tough "Just like life" she thought to herself. She had touble lifting up the mannequin, but eventually she did it. She started walking slowly and carefully and thanked the gods and heavens for the 20 feet of clear space, because that somewhat helped her get adjusted to the weight of the mannequin
Unlike the others who were swift, fast, capable and used their Quirks. Miku was once again the exact opposite, or at least thats how she felt. She couldnt really run with this mannequin because she knew if she messed up or damaged the mannequin, Cian would have had her restart it from the beginning until she completed the course safely. If that happened she would have died of shame. So she did things slowly and carefully. Moving through the walls. The ramp and stairs and everything else was passed. But not as nearly as impressive as her classmates.
After finishing her course, she went to her classmates and went once again far back. She didnt wanna be seen or heard. "Ok. Please ignore me. Pretend more that Im not here. Dont look at me" she thought to herself Throughout this whole class, she was just silent, tried to control her emotions and focus on the task.

Demon Machine i no longer fear ending my hell Nyke looked over at the next course that seemed to be much more interactive than the first. It had rotating poles and little guns that were going to serve as obstacles this time. The idea that a villain would attack someone while they were trying to save someone else kind of pissed Nyke off. Did people hate others so much that they would do such a thing? At the same time, however, the idea of a person being mangled in the middle of a rescue was amusing as well. The horror sot of something caught between attacking quirks could cause quite the spectacular death. How intriguing. But Nyke was a hero. Saving others was what she did. She wasn't fast enough to try to dodge bats and pellets with a person in her hands but serving as their shield was actually something Nyke could do really well. Before she moved on, her gaze turned toward one of the slower girls in the class, Miku. She didn't seem to be able to keep up with everyone else, but she was trying.
"Keep up."
Nyke said to the girl. It was rather harsh sounding, but it was Nyke's vain effort to be encouraging. In fact, it was a complete failure at being encouraging, but that was just one rough part of Nyke that she was going to have to work on in terms of being a hero. She was strong and could fight, but her communication and person skills were poor. Where was the class on that? Moving on to the next course, Nyke picked up her mannequin and decided to hold it differently this time. She cradled the thing in her arms and close to her chest. She wanted to get as much of her body covering the mannequin as possible. Nyke was a small girl, so that was going to be hard for her to do. However, minimizing the damage to the mannequin was worth the effort she made. So with it in hand, she made her way through the course at a slow but steady pace.
The rotating bats weren't much of an issue. When they swung toward her, they hit her arms that were wrapped around the mannequin. It served as a buffer between the bats and the mannequin. Sure, it hurt her arms, but that little bit of force was something Nyke could take. The airsoft pellets were a different story though. She wasn't able to completely protect the mannequin from those. What Nyke chose to do instead of was to use her back to block one side while doing her best to block as much of the other side as possible with her arms and holding the mannequin low. A few pellets hit it, of course, but it was far less damage than if she tried to run straight through with the airsoft guns at both her sides.
The final obstacle was the villain, which was Nyke's forte. It was easy and all Nyke had to do was use her weight and strength to knock it over just like in the introduction to the class. As she approached the cardboard cutout, she spun around and back kicked the thing to knock it to the ground. She did it so that the pellets from the gun and the foam back would hit her back instead of the mannequin. And with that, she was done the course. She set the mannequin down and looked back to her class to see how they were doing. Rescuing seemed simple enough so far, just as Kyla said at the start. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

Grab your coat and get your hat, leave your worries on the doorstep Just direct your feet to the sunny side of the street! It wasn't like Mei-Lin to show up to a class late. Normally she was always entirely on time. However, she was unfortunate this time. She had needed to take a moment to eat one of the disgusting meals that she was forced to eat because of her quirk. Today really had been like a rush for her. She had woken up late, gotten to school late..and that whole stream of lateness was starting to cut into an actually important class. Still, Mei-Lin looked as energetic as ever, wearing that omnipresent smile of hers as she arrived right at the tail end of the first two completions of the first course. Thankfully, she had been able to keep an eye on some of the other students, and got somewhat of a handle on what they were supposed to do.
So, she merely smiled nervously at their teacher before she stepped up to do the first course herself. Like the majority of the class, she was wearing the official gym outfit. But like the mutation based students, her outfit had some notable modifications. Namely, the lack of sleeves, and far shorter legs, as the cloth that would normally completely cover ones legs only went down to about her knees. Another notable thing was something..interesting.
Mei-Lin had gone without any kind of footwear. That was curious. Still, she inhaled deeply as she put her left foot in between the legs of the mannequin, And just like that, she had managed to lift the mannequin in the same way that some of the other students had been holding it. Due to the fact that she had been late, she was just starting the course as some people were finishing it. She didn't mind that though. Thankfully, this first course didn't take too much effort at first. The careful, smooth movements that her Nippon Kempo classes taught her made her more than able to navigate through the various walls that were sticking out at various areas.
Anyone who knew Mei-Lin would have been surprised to see how carefully and calmly she was going through this. Sure, she was an energetic and hyperactive teenager. But she knew how to take things seriously. After all, the point of these classes were to let them one day become able to protect people. However, Mei-Lin didn't remain calm and collected for long. She watched as the most exposed girl in the class jogged past her, showing off an amount of energy that Mei-Lin had also been bottling up. Without warning, she actually started to pick up speed, being only a few paces behind Lani.
However, that changed when they got to the walls. The first one was one that required her to duck. She didn't want to go into this situation half cocked. So Mei-Lin actually slowed down, taking her time to make sure that both herself and the mannequin were able to get under without any real harm. Fortunately, she was able to get under it with a fair amount of ease. And when she got up and saw the second wall..Mei-Lin could only grin as she slowly walked up to about the midpoint of the gap between the walls. Sure, it was only a two foot high wall. She could theoretically just jump it. But this was assuming that she was able to jump very high at all with all of the weight on her back Unfortunately, she couldn't. But that wasn't going to stop her.
Mei-Lin instead got on the balls of her feet as her quirk activated, forming two baseball sized barnacles on the soles of her feet. With that done, she merely jumped. The resulting detonation was intensely focused, but resulted in Mei Lin clearing the wall. The return trip was easy, albeit a little more boring, as she knew what was coming through this course. She could ear Lani call their class 'the best class' as she finally got around the last wall and put her mannequin down as well.
Of course, this wasn't the end of the class. That would have been too easy. The next test was to do the same thing..while protecting a civilian. Again, this made sense. But the unfortunate twist was just what the second course entailed. ANY harm dealt to the mannequin would result in a restart. That made things..difficult. She didn't exactly want to break anything..but it was possible that she would have to. As such, she stood and watched the others for now. She was analyzing the situation. While at a glance, the rotating poles looked to have very little area to slip through. But a few mental adjustments made Mei-Lin confident in her path.
So she picked up her mannequin, and did something a little different. This time, those barnacle like rocks started to form on the entire forearm of her free hand, and only the part of her other forearm that wasn't touching the mannequin. This was different though. While the previous rocks had been explosive, she had purposely made sure that these wouldn't detonate. Even so, she managed to get through the poles easily enough. Sure, she had taken a thwap to the back of her head, but that was nothing to be worried about.
However, the second area was far more devious. Mei-Lin could hear the sound of airsoft guns going off. So that was the intent. She had assumed that she would have a chance to form a shield of sorts around the mannequin..but that was going to be very unlikely, especially since she hadn't learned how to make the minerals smoother. So, the protection around the arm holding the mannequin faded..and Mei-Lin took off, only for a second set of explosions to occur beneath her feet as she jumped once more. It was the same trick as she had used to get over the wall before, but this time with enough concentration to get a little more height.
The walls weren't too high, so she didn't need let the minerals form fully. Unfortunately, that meant that while the mannequin was safely above the airsoft guns..Mei-Lin was getting pinged by them left and right. While it wasn't going to break her skin anytime soon, she couldn't help but wince as she soared through the air, only to land somewhat awkwardly at the end of the firing range that had been the second challenge. Last was the villain. Kyla had knocked it down by using a simple kick. But Mei-Lin wasn't wanting to get pegged over and over again by these airsoft guns. So while the cardboard cutout was starting to pop back up, Mei-Lin took a deep breath, and started adding layer after layer of minerals,
What resulted from this effort was a stack of minerals that created essentially a rectangle over part of her arm that was big enough to protect both her chest and the lower half of her face, along with the mannequin's head. So, Mei-Lin charged forward, and smacked the villain with the 'shield'. That had knocked it back down, and pinged most of the bullets off of her quirk, rather than forcing her to adjust the hold of the mannequin. Once the villain was knocked over, Mei-Lin allowed the minerals around her arm to dissolve, the excess falling to the floor and crumbling as she finished the course. "Well, things seem to be going okay so far!" She said as she finished the course, smiling even wider than she had been before.

You leave me here wondering if I'll ever know How much you care, or how much you don't If you're going to be somebody's last time, baby be mine. “ The next course was up and Kyla was ready to make her move. Behind her, a few students were already making their way through the course and some were still catching up. Kyla decided it was best if she kept it moving and kind of just glanced over at Nyke as she told Miku to keep up. It was a little mean, but Kyla couldn't really express that. Nyke seemed to have a really hard-boiled approach, so maybe it was just her way of doing things. Kyla did worry about Miku though and gave the girl an encouraging wave on toward the next course. This one was different and looked to be a lot messier. There was stuff that seemed to go in every direction. Utter chaos one could call it. So before she proceeded through it, Kyla had to stop and think over what she was about to run through. Like the last course, this one had three sections. First were the melee attacks. Foam bats spun around to try and knock the mannequin out of her hands and damage the things they hit. Kyla was going to have to find some way to shield the inured person she was going to be carrying as she went through that part. The next set was the ranged attacks. Airsoft guns shot pellets out to bother those making their way through. They were too small and moved too quickly to stop all of them. And without a wide defensive countermeasure, it was going to be the riskiest part of the course. There was no doubt her mannequin was going to be hit by some of the pellets. She didn't have that kind of precise control over her spear to block off al them. And the last step was the villain, which was the easiest one. It had both weapons, but Kyla knew from the previous class that her Nasod field could knock it over from a distance. So she was confident that she could clear that part with ease. So, with a basic overview set, Kyla went into the course with eh mannequin with a loose plan in her mind. She was going to carry it the same way as the first course. Kyla had the advantage of using her spears in place of her hands when it came to dealing with the things around her, so she was fine with using the same fireman lift as before. She once again released her Nasod Spears and had one floating on each side of her. For the first section, it was going to be simple. She was going to use her spears to knock the bats away from her line of travel and move through the open path. Since they were just foam bats, she could bend them out of her way as they spun around on the poles and avoid all of them entirely. It was simple. It wasn't going to be quick but at least the civilian would be safe and that was what really counted. On the next section, Kyla hesitated a bit. This was the one she knew she was going to have trouble with. Her spears didn't really have the coverage she needed to get through and her field wasn't for deflecting physical pellets. She was just going to have to try and rush through and cover the mannequin as much as she could. To do this, she stood up straight and tried to hold the mannequin as high as she should to get it above the row of airsoft guns. She used her spears to help balanced and hold the mannequin up and then with e deep breath Kyla ran through it as quickly as she could. She could feel the pellets hitting her. They didn't hurt much, but it was a clear acknowledgment that she was being hit by something. The mannequin, however, Kyla had no idea. And by the end of the section, she stopped and glanced over it to see if it was damaged anywhere. There was nothing glaringly messed up but Kyla had a feeling that it wasn't a clean run. She was going to have to work on some way to defend a person from that kind of attack. But now, at least, Kyla was left with the easy part. She didn't even have to move from where she was to take down the villain. She retracted her spears and held out her right hand to point her palm at the cardboard villain. And from there the nodes of her wrist formed the Nasod field that she sued to fire abeam that would knock it down. Kyla girl let out an exasperated breathe before picking the mannequin back up and moving t the end of the course. Hopefully, the next one was easier than that was. "Whew, that was a little rough that time." She said to her classmates that had finished and were waiting for the third course to be revealed. ”

Post by Tetsuko Shindou on Jul 27, 2018 1:40:03 GMT -4
Tardiness was not something Tetsuko took lightly, so the girl was more than a little upset with herself at turning up late to class. The girl had woken up on time, alarm as effective as always, but had been unfortunately delayed on her route to school by some emergency roadworks. Apparently, some villainous Quirker had been in the middle of a police chase when he decided to inflict significant structural damage on the road behind him, causing a messy situation in an already busy section of road. As infuriated as Tetsuko was with those vile impediments to public safety, she wasn't about to let her lateness overshadow, and turned up to class with a determined stare in her modified tracksuit.
Given the nature of her Quirk, using the default gym outfit would be far from ideal for the young Shindou girl. Instead, she adopted a short-sleeved alternative, leaving her in a loose shirt and shorts for her own convenience. Being able to draw iron out of her own body without tearing through her clothes every time was kind of important unless she wanted to turn up in rags by the second lesson.
Remaining stoic and dignified, Tetsuko listened and nodded along to the situation. Today's lesson was all about rescue training, a righteous path if there ever was one. And although the Japanese girl's Quirk was definitely more suited to combat, she couldn't deny some very interesting possibilities within the field of rescue. Their teacher, a former firefighter, would have them go through four separate courses to cultivate experience in the task. Mannequins would naturally be their stand-ins for actual rescuees, and they'd have to take each one through what were presumably progressively more difficult courses.
Their teacher demonstrated his first lesson to the group, a technique for carrying civilians. A useful lesson to be sure, as even though Tetsuko stood a bit taller than your typical Japanese girl, she was far from being objectively 'tall'. She watched as he carried out his display, mentally noting the process like she would any other technique. Although the girl's specialty lied in swordsmanship, the ability to recollect and learn was a learned skill that could apply to countless different physical activities. Heroics was no exception.
After they'd been shown the staples of what Tetsuko recognized as some variant on a fireman's carry - which made sense given the teacher's former occupation - their educator let them loose on the first course of the lesson. Tetsuko didn't hesitate to follow through, ready to test herself against this unique trial. It was a bit different for the swordswoman, but she was eager to give it a shot and test her aptitude for this particular field. Stepping up with confidence, Tetsuko retrieved her mannequin, hauling it up with the same technique Cian had shown moments ago. Tetsuko, admittedly, didn't like having her arms restricted like this. Being in a state that made swinging a sword impossible was naturally discomforting to her, so she'd have to be a bit more creative. Keeping that in mind, Tetsuko removed her shoes before running the course, in case she needed to make use of her Quirk through her own feet.
Being the first of the courses, this first run was naturally simple. Tetsuko jogged along the first stretch, pacing herself in this straightforward section to get used to the carrying position. It was a bit awkward at first, but the technique was designed to keep the weight even across the shoulders, carried mostly with the core, so it was fairly easy to get used to, by design. Next up was a trickier section, forcing Tetsuko to wind through some walls in her path. She started picking up the pace, using her natural speed to weave around the obstacles in a serpentine fashion. Once again, this seemed to just be for the sake of acclimating the rescuers to different ways of moving while maintaining the carry. Growing more comfortable with the technique, Tetsuko approached the third set of obstacles with confidence, this time using her Quirk to give her a bit of an edge.
As she approached the inclines, Tetsuko's iron would be drawn out through her feet, a pair of blades sprouting from her soles, the points curving back towards her heels. These little climbing spikes allowed her to keep her pace up the incline without fear of losing balance, and the same applied to the downward set of stairs. The last impediments made it a bit more difficult for Tetsuko to keep her quick pace. She ducked low and carefully under the first wall, slowing her down some, before building momentum again to leap over the second, kicking off of it with help from the climbing claws at the soles of her feet. Those same claws would retract, iron blocking the superficial cuts on the bottom of Tetsuko's feet. She safely set the mannequin down once she was done, content with her performance.
Overall, Tetsuko completed the first course as intended, using it get used to the different movements one might have to make while carrying a civilian on their shoulders. It was more a learning experience than a trial, and a beginner's lesson at that. More difficult education was bound to follow, as their teacher guided them all over to the second course they'd be running. This time, they'd be dealing with a course while under fire from threats, something Tetsuko was a bit more familiar with. She was already considering how her quirk's defensive potential might come in handy. Of course, offensive abilities wouldn't be without their perks too, given the bonus for eliminating the villain. It was good thing Tetsuko had taken her shoes off.
Tetsuko retrieved the next mannequin and took on the second course. As she approached the first section, Tetsuko drew iron from her left arm, a small blade emerging from the center of her forearm as iron flowed out, taking shape into a T-shaped bar that covered the length of her forearm. It allowed her to deflect the foam bats as she moved through the first section. The Shindou girl had considered making them blades to cut the bats off, but figured the damage to school property wouldn't be appreciated.
The iron drawn out from her arm continue to be useful once Tetsuko ended up in the second stretch, with a more dangerous threat in her way. Stand-in guns were set up, necessitating a strong defence. She manipulated the iron bar, more of her own iron flowing out as it expanded into a round shield that would be enough to block any shots that might've hit the mannequin. Tetsuko would quickly make her way through the gauntlet of airsoft pellets, positioning herself to block any shots that might've otherwise hit the rescuee. She copped a few stray pellets herself, but was able to bear the few tiny bruises they incurred.
The Shindou girl turned her shield to face the final obstacle, a villain who was armed and dangerous. She wasted no time dispatching the despicable faux evildoer. With her shield raised, she used her speed to its greatest, storming down the hall. Pellets and bats would be blocked by the shield, until she finally slammed it into the cardboard cutout to knock it down. Once again, she would have preferred a blade, but there was only one cutout, so it wouldn't really be ideal to cut it up. Once she'd taken it down, Tetsuko set down her mannequin again, standing with the rest of the successful students. The iron from her shield flowed back into her arm, a dash of blood dropping from the cut as she blocked any further bleeding with her iron. Hopefully, she wouldn't have to open too many more cuts in the following courses.
"Alright, what's up next?" She inquired proudly and eagerly, ever ready to prove herself.

While there were late arrivals, the class president of class 1-B was happy to see more people completely the courses and learning the ever-important art of rescuing civilians. Ericka was here to learn like everyone else, but she enjoyed watching the other students make their way through in creative and unique ways. And with the way they were using their quirks, Ericka could see that their class was making real progress and effort toward becoming heroes. Not to mention that there were a number of unique quirks available to the class and the things that they did. In some cases, people didn't even use their quirks but that was okay. Ericka was one of them. She needed to work out on how to use her quirk to help protect civilians in ways other than fighting a villain. Sure, there were a couple of scenarios she could come up with in her head, but they didn't apply much to the situation at hand. Then, there was the next course. It was much more involved than the previous one. However, it didn't frighten Ericka much. In fact, it reminded her of something her parents would come up with back when they were training her to fight. Ericka was actually quite athletic and between her martial art style and her capability in gymnastics, she was confident in what she could do. All she had to do was work in carrying the mannequin with the movements she was already preplanning tog et past the foam bats and airsoft guns. Ericka made her way over to the mannequin she needed to carry through and debated how she wanted to hold it this time. There were a number of options, including the fireman lift they just learned. She wanted to make sure one of her hands were free though. She needed one of her finger guns to shoot down the villain at the end for the 'bonus' that was teased. It was likely nothing, but Ericka wanted a complete victory on this one. In the end, she decided on an over the shoulder method this time. She could sling the mannequin over her left shoulder and hold the legs to keep the thing steady. With this, she could control her weight and moment by easily knowing which side of her was heavier and how to move her body to keep with the momentum. Now she was ready to move through the next course and even show off a little bit. Mentally counting down in her head, Ericka readied herself for the run and once she hit zero, she was off! Ericka ran forward at a decent speed and first encountered the rotating foam bats. She had been watching them since she saw the course and was looking for the open gaps she could move through without moving around too much. Eventually, a pattern emerged in them and that was the route she was going to take. So her movement through the lines of rotating foam bats looked as if she was simply passing through the solid matter. In actuality, she knew where she needed to move and where to stand to walk at a continuous pace and not be struck by the bats at all. It allowed her to move without jolting too hard in a single direction or make a mistake and drop the mannequin in question. The came the line of airsoft guns. This one she didn't even need to think about. Gun Kata was specifically designed to fight against armed enemies and understanding where a gun would be aimed to be fired rather than trying to react to it. In this case, it was pretty easy. The airsoft guns were mounted and stuck in one direction. The pellets were going to be firing the same way and the same arc most of the time. The only real variables were the other students and the occasional breeze that could affect the small plastic balls. So once again, Ericka timed her movements with the guns in question. They may have fired at different paces, but where they were going to go was all the same. She quickly stepped passed each line of travel for the pellets and keep in the area they weren't going to be fired in. Doing this allowed her to move through the second obstacle with a single pellet touching Ericka or the mannequin on her shoulder. The final thing was the villain with the airsoft gun firing and the foam bat to smack away though that came close to it. This was what she needed her free hand for. She lifted her right hand and moved her fingers into the finger pistol formation. And with some quick aiming, she loaded her mystic bullets and fired twice to knock the thing down. It was as simple as that! With the course completed, she placed the mannequin down carefully and placed her hands on her hips with a smile. It was here that she noticed one of the students, Tetsuko Shindou , bleeding a little bit. Concerned, Ericka approached the girl. "You alright?" She asked. She seemed really excited, but it didn't change the fact that she might have been hurt with the course. Either way, they also had to get ready for the next one.

Brun was the fist to finish the first course however he need space to finish the next one course. While still in his Electrical form Brun would look around the room very quickly, he spotted a student with an open bag of chips. Perfect. He'd ask for a singular chip and went to go pick up his mannequin. "As soon as everyone goes through I'll go if that's alright. I don't want other students getting trampled.
Brun allowed the late arrivals to go in font of him, as he stood next to his teacher. "So is the last course gonna be like a combination?" He'd ask Regardless of his instructors answer Brun was mentally prepared for what was to come. He'd do whatever it was necessary to become a hero. Even if it meant using the powers he hated to use so much. "It doesn't matter. As Lazy as I am, I'll give this my all! I need to push my limits. I'd like to request some extra one on one lessons afterwards if that's alright with you." Brun was serious about this. He was able to complete these courses easily but his recklessness was eventually going to get someone killed. He didn't want that. Not at all. "Do you know the villain, Arclight? Regardless if you do that's my dad. My mom was a vigilante named, Rain who'd always stop him. Ever since my quirk manifested, they told me my life was my own making and they'd love me regardless of my choices. They didn't push me to become a Hero or A villain." Brun would sigh before continuing. "I'm taking these courses more so to train and find myself. To see if I actually want to become a hero, or a villain. I'm at a loss teach." He'd stretch a bit while talking quietly to his teacher. "I know I shouldn't really be telling you my life story and all but I vowed to make my decision at graduation. If I do end up becoming a villain with everything you taught me. I just want you to know I'm actually having fun in you're class and appreciate what you're doing here."
Once the last of the students made it through, Brun ate the chip and immediately his body hardened and he started to grow. Rocks formed around his body making him Very Bulky and and very large. He Stood up straight as High as 10 feet with a 10x10 Shield made of thick stone on his right hand. He'd hold his mannequin Behind the shield with the left hand and then begin to walk through the course. The shield Scraped against the ground making an ear screeching sound of rock scraping against hard flooring. Every footstep was thunderous and loud. The ground shook a bit at the finish line as he moved through the stage. He'd knock over the a couple of the spinning contraptions with the foam bats. He'd Shield his mannequin from the balls being shot at him from one side as he sidestepped through the course, making sure the Mannequin wouldn't take a hit. The final area was easy. All brun did was walk to the "villain". It's attacks and foam bullets barely had an effect on his shield. Brun simply held his shield down as it scraped against the floor. He'd run over the "Villain" and make it to the end. He'd put his mannequin down after completing the course and let out a loud groan. He couldn't speak in this form, only let out a various sounding groans. This one was a triumphant one.

these rapid eyes will keep on moving The next course was up and Lani was still feeling the adrenaline and ready to perform it. Seeing her classmates become successful and make their way through the course with their quirk made Lani want to do the same. Each person had parts they were good at and parts they weren't so good atm and Lani was the same. When she looked at the course she wasn't too worried about it though. She didn't even have to study it too hard. It was something like what her mother did when she was younger, though this time it was far nicer. The bats were wrapped in foam and the guns only shot pellets. Much better than the beating she took from her mother. So Lani got ready to run this thing. "Let's go!" She shouted out to get her class ready and rearing to go! Especially Miku, who seemed to be behind the others. If she was going to be a hero like the rest of them she needed to get determined and Laniw as more than happy to get her going! Hopefully, her infectious optimism was plenty!
Before she started the course, Lani nodded something green. The color was what powered her abilities, so she needed to make sure she could make use of it. Fortunately, there was something. One of the multicolored mats on the ground was green, so Lani could use that to do what she needed. And a quick scan of the course showed that there was a green spot in the middle of the chaos that was the twirling bats. Nodded to herself, Lani picked up the mannequin and tucked it under her arm. She needed one of her hands free, so this position was just going to have to do. And with that, she started.
She rushed to the first section and toward the spot with the green mat. She spun and jived around the bats before stopping at one that was closest to the spot. The dark skin girl lifted up her leg and kicked one of the fao bats as they rotated toward her. She wanted to dislodge it and use it for herself like a sword. It was what she was trained to use the best, so why not? With it in hand, she knelt down and touched the green mat. And with her quirk, a green stripe appeared on the bat, making it grow larger in size. This was her tool!
With it, she moved to the next. This one was going to take far more skill than the first. She was going to knock away pellets as she ran through the range of airsoft guns. They were in a predictable pattern and had a decent timing to them, so Lani could count on when they would fire and when she was going to have to block the shot. She took a moment to hop and place and get the timing and movement set in her head before moving forward And just like that, the girl elegantly danced through the spray and swatted down the pellets that were going to hit her or the mannequin. her main focus was the mannequin though, so if any pellets did get passed her, she let the ones that were aimed at her body do so.
The final section was the easiest. A single villain there to try and stop her. Lani had no time for people like that. people that would use their quirks to harm others for their criminal activities were exactly the kind of people she wanted to stop. So without hesitation, she pounced the cardboard cutout and struck it down with a helm splitter over its cardboard head. The thing was knocked to the ground and Lani rolled as a recovery with the mannequin still tucked under her arm. It almost came loose and dropped as she did it, so a surprised and worried expression popped on to Lani's face as she stabilized herself and the mannequin. She had to remember to focus on keeping the thing safe in while in front of a villain. Much like at the festival, she was more focused on stopping the bad guy than she was helping people out. She needed to work on that big time. Though in the end, this course worked ut she had to keep in mind that this was a rescue class. ulla
