Stir Up Some Trouble~ ❝ “Ma’am.” As always greeted by a crisp and clear voice as she heard the door to her car opening up to allow her escape from the vehicle in which she had been touring Tokyo thus far this evening after stepping out from the Kobayashi compound, Saya Sumiyoshi smirked with satisfaction as she found a strong hand waiting for her to guide her gorgeous gothic form from her seat gracefully, and stepped into the winter air of a japanese evening with a smile on her face. Still a little too used to that Hawaiian climate, aren’t it~? Jack frost naturally nipping at her nose the very second that she did so but not much else of her thanks to the shaggy white coat she was wearing for insulation, beneath it the beryl beauty had elected for a mix of elegance and daring as she wore a laced crop top and long split skirt, though these and the majority of the operatic gloves she wore would only be revealed when she removed her outer layer. Nobodies wait in line~ Instead looking like the epitome of style and serenity in her lush fur coat as she stepped forward on heels which were sharp enough to cut through the clamour around her and draw a searching set of eyes who might have just assumed she was the latest and hottest movie star on the block, Saya shook her head as she strutted forward flanked by both the man who had opened the door to her car and another pair who would both act as her bodyguards, and felt amused when she saw the folk who were queued up to enter loveliest and liveliest prospect in town. After all, it must have been delightfully quaint to wait to get into anywhere, and perhaps the emerald enchantress might just try that one day. But not today. “You two, get a drink, and let me know if you see him~?” Little more than a curt nod toward the bouncer seeming to be the key for a woman like her to skip the masses entirely and gain an instant entry into the hip and happening hot spot that she sought, once she was inside the fine femme finally relinquished her fur to one of the folk who had walked in with her, and as she did so Miss Sumiyoshi made sure that their eyes were hers in order to find a figure she had not seen for a very long time. “I’ve been looking forward to this ever since I got back…” Too long in fact and that the reason why she had opted to throw caution to the wind so to speak and step into the belly of a beast which was owned by parties who some might have seen as a rival to her own, this very fact made her retinue seem a little stiff in response but their leader was not. After all, she knew the owner a lot better than they did…

hey stranger HE USUALLY KEPT TO THE LOUNGE when the club was in operating hours—a private space, with all the comforts of a home (except, perhaps, a bed) that was away from the sweating, altered clubgoers that usually flocked to his establishment. Some nights—particularly on the nights of live performances—the youngest Mizutani would venture out to mingle. But otherwise, he kept to himself. Hikaru lounged on a small couch, one leg crossed delicately over the other.
His bodyguard and companion Creature sat opposite of his employer on a full-sized couch—though, due to the mutant’s size, he occupied nearly the entire sofa on his own.
Unbeknownst to Hikaru, someone familiar had crossed the threshold into the club, and was seeking the auburn-haired gentleman out specifically—bypassing the line altogether in her pursuit. The bouncers at the door, adhering to their usual protocol for “guests of interest”, touched their ear and spoke quietly into their bone mics.
“Please advise Mizutani-san that Saya Sumiyoshi just showed-up,” was the message that was relayed. Creature, having a similar bone mic in his ear, pressed the bone mic and tapped the microphone portion twice. Under-stood.
He leaned forward on the sofa, tapping Hikaru’s shoulder. Hikaru rolled over on the couch, glancing at his bodyguard.
“Yes?”
Creature’s hands fluttered deftly as they sculpted the following signs, <<Sa-ya Su-mi-yo-shi is here. Are you expecting her?>>
If Hikaru’s urgent rouse from the couch wasn’t indication enough, the frantic, “No, this is a surprise to me!” certainly provided some clarity, “Let me speak to them.”
Creature pressed the bone mic again, stooping down so that Hikaru could speak into it.
“If possible, keep visuals and let Creature know where she is.”
God, it had been years since they’d seen one another. So much had happened since then. Taking ownership of the club, the death of his eldest (and only) brother, rising to first lieutenant, the… accident… come to think of it, did Saya leave the country before or after the accident…? His recollection of that period in time were so foggy…
Hikaru paused a moment before a full-length mirror, straightening his tie and smoothing his suit coat with his palms, fixing his hair… As Creature passed behind him, he signed something within Hikaru’s range of vision—
<<You look fine, Romeo,>> Creature signed with a droll expression, <<Come on.>>
Hikaru smirked with a faint “heh”, and led the way out of the room. The pair wandered down a quiet hall, the vibrations from the dancefloor increasing in magnitude as they drew closer and closer. Finally, the pair pushed through a locked door, and the music dilated into its full splendor as they entered onto a catwalk above the main dancefloor, surveying the throngs of clubgoers from above.
There was far too many people, really, to discern any one face from the crowd, particularly in the garish neon lights that lit the space. Hikaru moved efficiently along the catwalk, towards one of the exits that would lead towards the ground-level. She was likely somewhere in the fray. Creature remained close, sidling behind him.
<<Any word?>> he signed to Creature, turning to look at him.
<<Nothing yet.>>
They descended down a spiral staircase onto the main floor, gaze skimming the crowd for the Kobayashi heiress’s familiar face.

Stir Up Some Trouble~ ❝ A little livelier than I’d tend to go for… Exploring the club she had entered with a smile on her face and a strong sense of curiosity in her heart, Miss Sumiyoshi hadn’t been sure of exactly what to expect when she had entered Chrysalis, and as she found music in her ears, lights in her eyes and people all around her she had to admit that it was a bit more oppressive than her tastes might have called for. More the sort who liked the intrigue of a cabaret bar or even the opera where she could appreciate the talent upon the stage without feeling stifled by her setting, perhaps this was the reason that she stood out a little in the elegant ebony ensemble she had chosen, though in no way that seemed to diminish the sense of esteem she felt. Not when she was getting stares like she was, at least. “Ah, perfection~” Weaving her way through the throng of people with a sense of whimsy all the same and the spectacle which surrounded her almost leaving Saya to forget that she had entered the place with a retinue, all the same she was glad for her attendants when a conical chalice was presented before her by one of them she had let ‘hunt’ though the mass, and smiled as she tasted the ever so nearly clear contents within it. Certain the manner in which they combined their gin and vermouth worth staying a while if nothing else was, the accompaniment of a nice drink was enough to help her forget the more intrusive elements of her environment that little bit better, though all too soon the sight of a figure descending a spiralling staircase was enough to leave any discomfort she felt a distant memory. And there’s the man of the hour~ Unsure exactly of what seemed to catch her attention in this loud moments but from the very moment that the malachite minx spied that sharp suit the woman finding herself transfixed, she froze in place and felt as if everything around her disappeared for a moment, or perhaps even two. Certainly a sight for sore eyes…! The noise of the music and the brightness of the lights no longer seeming to be an issue and neither was the mass of people around her either, time itself seemed to slow down as that green gaze ran up the shape of someone who made her feel so very nostalgic, and perhaps a few other things as well. Though we’ll probably get to that.

hey stranger HIKARU MOVED CAREFULLY ALONG THE EDGE of the throng of clubbers, Creature close behind him, his head swiveling from side-to-side searchingly as his beady, black eyes swept the floor. Since Creature was well over two meters tall, it was easy for him to skim the crowd—additionally, he’d be very easy to find, whereas his superior was average-height. The mutant seemed to snap to attention, after a moment, black tongue flicking out of his maw in an almost reptilian fashion. He pat Hikaru’s shoulder, then signed hurriedly. << Spotted her! In the crowd. >>Hikaru attempted to follow the mutant’s gaze, but being unable to—he decided to let Creature lead the way. The white, vaguely crocodilian mutant with his whip-like tail wove carefully through the crowd, tapping clubgoers on the shoulder to ask permission to pass. He wore the same shirt as any club security—a black tee emblazoned with Chrysalis’s logo—and a pair of cargo pants. So if the severe mutation was not enough to garner their attention, his outfit certainly was. When Creature reached the well-dressed woman, he wordlessly bobbed his head—being wholly nonverbal—and stepped aside, bringing Hikaru into focus. The auburn-haried gentleman smiled brightly. He bowed at the waist, then rose again, extending a hand towards the woman as if asking to lead her somewhere. Should Saya accept it, he would lightly take hold of her hand at the fingertips, as if he were a footman preparing to escort her somewhere. He could feel the vibrations of the music in his limbs, so he knew it was loud in here—impossible to hold a conversation in. So Hikaru would draw closer, leaning towards Saya’s ear as a means of speaking over the din. “Seeing you is a wonderful surprise, miss,” he said warmly, “Shall we retreat somewhere quieter? I’d love to catch-up.”He’d step back as soon as he said this, inclining his head as he said this. Gracious, had he known that one of the Kobayashi family would be gracing his nightclub so soon, he wouldn’t have paid so handsomely to speak with that ravishing informant. It felt so much more moralistic to catch-up with an old friend, rather than having a third party divulge information. At Saya’s behest, Hikaru would turn to Creature and sign, <<To the library, please?>> should she request venturing to a quieter space. The club itself was split into two floors, with she second floor acting as a balcony that faced the dance floor. The second floor hosted a lounge space, with a few high-backed booths that could be rented for private parties located behind the bar. It was somewhat sheltered from the pulsating music of the main dancefloor. And Hikaru made a habit of keeping one table reserved at all times. Creature and Hikaru would move steadily through the crowd, the blond turning periodically to ensure that Saya hadn’t been lost in the venture upstairs. The unusual trio pushed past partiers on the stairs, through the lounge and into the booths beyond. The vibrations of music in the air, almost to the point that Hikaru could barely feel them. Low lights lit the blue leather benches that formed a “U’s” around black, rectangular tables. Some booths hosted groups, others were unoccupied. They reached one that, on a small golden plaque, declared that it was “Reserved”, and had one guard stationed near it. Creature snorted and nodded their head sharply, and the guard slipped away. Hikaru turned to Saya, gesturing towards the booth. “I hope this is more to your liking?” Hikaru inquired, “How have you been?” | ft. saya sumiyoshi quirk: d-rank damage/ strength/ burn, range, disorient; d-rank martial arts, acting; e-rank wealth/ influence, stealth; f-rank dancing, driving |

Stir Up Some Trouble~ ❝ “I could say the same, mister~” The nostalgia and memories of the malachite marvel only seeming to grow to greater prominence once Hikaru presented himself to her more fully and began to speak, images of moments that Miss Sumiyoshi thought she had forgotten long ago flooded her mind as she smiled not with her usual beguiling grin that she used on strangers and sycophants but rather something a little more sincere and special, though the dark diva tried to keep herself cool she couldn’t help but feel a little bit more like a schoolgirl now that her old friend was nearby, and was ever more excited when he suggested going somewhere a little more private. “Of course, I’m sure neither of us would be happy to share the other with any kind of crowd. Lead the way~” Internally seeming to revert to something a bit younger and more naïve around a figure who at one time she had nursed quite the silly little crush upon, though they had both grown older and wiser and moved on from the people they were back then the beryl beauty couldn’t help but think of such days with those resplendent rosy tinted lenses, and as she followed after him wondered just where her evening might lead her because of that. Somewhere exciting, hopefully. “Most certainly~” Following after her friend with a smile on her face and hardly even noticing the throng of bodies as she did so, as the slice of suited salty goodness presented a nice little bit privacy for them Saya would likely have admitted to being content no matter where she had ended up given the way she felt within, and smiled as she slid into one of the seats before turning her green gaze back to the man who had brought her hear. “I’d say it has everything I had wanted from my evening, and more~” Some perhaps likely to feel on edge having stepped into a so called lions den like this one but the emerald enchantress feeling perfectly secure even with a soul who some might have called her rival if not her enemy outright, she was quick to forget any and all bad blood between the clans of Kobayashi and Mizutani when it came to the man in front of her, and eager to point out the fact that for all the splendour of their setting it was him she had sought out more than anything as well. “Oh you know… Queen of Hawaii~?” Just that simple opportunity to indulge a connection which had been left neglected for so very long seeming like it added a sense of electricity to the air, Miss Sumiyoshi couldn’t help but feel not a little but rather very playful as she found herself with the exclusive attention of the handsome Hikaru, and offered a teasing reply because of that. “How about you, my love~?” Not even sure just how she should have acted toward him now that they were a pair of very different people than they had been back when they knew each other first but opting to go choose familiarity with an added ounce of flirtation, it was perhaps weird to consider for a woman in her position but it felt important to her for her companion to see her as more than the silly little girl she had once been while she knew him, because she no longer was that now really, regardless of how she felt inside. And well, because it also looked like her host had only gotten better with age as well…

hey stranger THERE REALLY WAS SOMETHING SWEET AND NOSTALGIC about seeing Saya, Hikaru had to admit—each of them had been children of yakuza oyabun’s, half-siblings to the boss’s other progeny—yakuza brats, if you will. In that regard, they were kindred spirits—so it was natural to be thrilled for them to see each other.
And for all of his flowery language, Hikaru couldn’t help but be a little nervous about the encounter. If appearances were anything to go by, Saya seemed to be doing well for herself—meanwhile, Hikaru was… here at the club, deafened and burnt and… kind-of pathetic, compared to his former greatness? His “fall from grace” had happened somewhere around the time that Saya had left, so he couldn’t be too sure how much she knew… so the anxiety over keeping up appearance stirred in the pit of his stomach.
Be your usual, charming self, Hikaru thought with a sigh. Slither your way out of this.
When the two withdrew into the booth, Hikaru leaned with his elbows upon the table, arms crossed at the wrists. His dark eyes cleaved attentively to Saya’s face, following her words with rapt attention.
The low-light, however romantic, made lip-reading next-to impossible.
“I’m glad it’s to your liking,” Hikaru insisted. If it hadn’t been, he could have easily done anything within his power to remedy that. But if she was content, no accommodations were necessary.
“I don’t know about the Queen of Hawaii,” Hikaru replied, a sort of guilelessness flickering across his features. He said this in such an over-the-top way, it was difficult to say if he was truly clueless, or if he was simply seeking more details for the sake of fostering a connection, “Tell me more.”
And, naturally, Saya asked about him. Hikaru rested his chin upon the heel of his hand, leaning on the table in an almost sulky way.
“I’ve been here,” he said simply, gesturing with his free hand towards an empty spot of air, “After my brother’s untimely passing, I was promoted to first lieutenant, which has kept me decently busy in the meantime.”
This was explained somewhat dismissively, as if being the second-in-command of a yakuza outfit was the least interesting thing a person could do. As if it were comparable to reporting on grass’s growth in real-time.
“Tell me about Hawaii, though,” Hikaru insisted, sitting rapt once again, “What was it like? What did you do?”

Stir Up Some Trouble~ ❝ “No reverence for her highness? The impudence~” Smirking and raising her brow at the lacklustre reception she got from the lofty title she had given herself on account of climbing to the top of the proverbial food chain in Hawaii, despite the haughtiness of the attitude she showed Miss Sumiyoshi was consumed by humorous intent as she spoke, and affirmed this fact as she grinned a moment later at her old friend and shook her head at him. “Oh just being my usual magnificent self, and as a woman of the people, submitting to their generous adulation once I liberated the islands of their pesky and effective police presence~?” Flicking those blunted strands of her hair as she explained her statement a bit better for the benefit of her blonde buddy, though she found shop talk a little too tiresome on a night of enjoyment to go into a lot of detail about the specifics of her antics, she hoped that Hikaru got the gist of her antics abroad from the descriptions she had chosen for them. “Well, I can certainly think of worse places to be, my dear~?” Unsure of whether or not her handsome host was happy to be stuck in his club or not but happy to offer a little affirmation that she could think of venues far worse off to find oneself stranded, Saya smiled at her friend as he offered a little insight into his own journey since she had last seen him, and honestly the beryl beauty was just as excited by it as she had been her own path to ‘royalty’ in the pacific. “Oh really~? Then I’d say the prospects of the Mizutani-kai have never looked better in my eyes~” Immensely pleased to hear that the he had found his feet somewhat despite the trying circumstance he had been through, though the emerald eyed enchantress played the issue off with a wink and a smirk she was genuinely glad to hear that he was doing well, and felt like having someone who she got along so well with as second in command of a rival gang would also prove fruitful as well for both their families. It would be nice to foster more cooperation than conflict between them, wouldn’t it? “And that I’m sorry for your loss, of course…” At the same time almost having to remind herself however that this boon came at the cost of the brother of the blonde before her, though politeness demanded that the dark diva extend her sympathies for the setback of the man and his family, Miss Sumiyoshi wasn’t particularly torn up about the death of his forebearer. After all, she had always felt Hikaru a better leader and more pleasurable company, in her opinion. “Which reminds me, how are you doing after the… Accident?” The issue of loss however seeming to stir the memories of the malachite minx and remind her that they hadn’t had much of a chance to reconnect since something else which seemed far more significant in her eyes, though she had acted like a pro and done her duty and all that the goddess with the green gaze felt a hint of regret for having been away from the country for so long, especially after that incident that had seemed to hurt her friend so much. “I’m… Sorry, that I wasn’t able to be here after…?” He looked to be doing well now as far as she could tell, of course, but as her expression softened the emerald empress hoped he might feel comfort in having her back now all the same, and in the gentle touch she placed upon his hand as well.
