In an odd twist of fate, Liz had found herself going from an only child in a new country to having about 15 little brothers and sisters of all varying ages and needs. She hadn't really been dealing with them long enough to have a particular stance on the idea of having such a massive family, but with her conversation with Teruko a few nights prior she was leaning towards the idea of being a true older sister to them even if she was still figuring out how to do just that. The pizza night went off without a hitch as all the kids, especially the young ones, ate their fill and then some. It seemed like the younger the child from the orphanage had an easier time adjusting than some of the older kids and so Teruko had tasked Liz with getting to know them more one on one.[break][break]
That was the task Liz had today. It was somewhat early on a Saturday and her various siblings were out and about doing different things. Teruko had taken a majority of them shopping to get some new outfits and other things they might need. For Liz, her task was to bond with and help out Taiyo who was going to be attending U.A as a first-year student. Liz decided that the best way to get their day started was to try her hand at what he listed as his favorite meal, ramen.[break][break]
She had spent enough time watching videos and reading about the concept of making authentic homemade ramen that she felt confident she could make one that would live up to not only his standards but hers as well. Having woken up much earlier than anyone else in the house she had prepared a dashi a simple, clear stock which was constructed with kombu (kelp) and katsuobushi (dried fish shavings) taste testing it until she had a proper balance of flavor and sodium before she would continue to the next step which she was most interested in, Tare. Tare which has been called the soul of ramen by some, was essentially a flavored, concentrated soy sauce. Elizabeth had plans to craft this ingredient as perfectly as she could as she only planned on making it once and using it three different ways: as braising liquid for the pork belly, as a marinade for the eggs, and as a seasoning for the soup. She was so engrossed in the science of cooking that even if Taiyo walked in at that exact moment she most likely wouldn't have even noticed.
