... and a little less action? wait. HIKARU TRACED THE RIM OF HIS GLASS, his dark brown eyes surveying the ice-water that was melting within. It was midday, long before the club opened its doors for business, which meant that it was plunged into silence. It was even eerier with all the house-lights on, which chased the usual shadows out of its corners, and revealed all the garish colors and motley sundries of furniture in full, unflinching light.
The only staff present, besides Hikaru himself, was a bartender, a waitress, and one of Hikaru’s personal bodyguards. They were expecting company, at Hikaru’s request, and it would be poor manners not to have staff to attend her.
Daffodil.
Informant to the seediest people of the underground, so long as they could pay the price.
And Hikaru was in desperate need of information.
Getting in-touch with her wasn’t too difficult of a task, particularly when one was of the upper echelon of Mizutani-kai. Put the word out, and a few days later, the older brothers of the gang had found her. And a few days more, Hikaru had scheduled an appointment with her.
Hikaru set his glass upon the bar, and straightened his tie. Someone tapped upon his forearm, and the young son lifted his gaze, arching a delicate brow.
“You nervous?”
The way the bartender’s mouth curled at the corners when he said such things made Hikaru’s stomach twist in annoyance.
“Why would I be nervous about a business exchange?” Hikaru growled, “Get serious.”
“I heard she’s really pretty.”
Hikaru scoffed, and patted the bartender’s cheek.
“I’ve heard that your mother is pretty,” he countered snarkily. An immature retort, but it was such a tiresome thing to debate. It was well-known that Hikaru appreciated a gorgeous woman as much as the next warm-blooded man, but that didn’t mean he wanted his underlings lording it over him, “It’s a business exchange, slick. Don’t get all excited.”
The door creaked, snagging the attention of the bartender from his boss’s teasing face. The shaft of light that it sent across the floor, and the bartender’s rise to attention, similarly directed Hikaru’s attention to the door.
“Good afternoon,” Hikaru greeted, “How may we assist you?”
Creature, a strange, eyeless mutant with a long, razor-toothed snout—and Hikaru’s personal bodyguard of the day—moved with servility to hold the door open for the women who now occupied the doorway. The auburn-haired gentleman strode fluidly across the floor, hoping to glimpse the new arrival's face before she started to speak. Couldn't read lips from too far away, now, could you?

A new business deal was something that she should look into. Something splendid, something charming and amusing and impressive. Which was why she wore a skintight white dress, putting accents there where necessary and fitting perfectly with the white flower mask that she was wearing. The flowers were patterns made with the sewing patterns and little beats as the flower middle, quite proud of it to be honest and such was the reason why she was wearing it. Her personal life and that of hiding herself from the government as her villain life was something very important to her. She was sure that it could be done better but it was something. She was a little giddy to be honest, being invited, being found, being interesting for people that was something to be excited about. But she should not lose her style, her flair, her anything by being giddy. It would only mean that she would make mistakes, and probably sooner then she would like. So she had calmed down a little and managed to drive towards the meeting point.
Not too close by, she would park somewhere else and just make sure that everything was alright with her looks. Her lipstick albeit invisible, but you never know what the decisions inside would change you, her eyelashes should be long and perfectly black and she would hold the white mask ready for her face. She was done with that, changed her flats in simple black and white heels before turning away and closing her car and marching onto this bar. She was curious to look at the club before it was open, she had not really joined any clubs lately. Whether they were of the types she would visit or those for business, it was something to consider. She put the mask on her face quite quickly after leaving her car behind, it clipped behind her ears, little magnets clicking to the hairpins that were hidden in her long and wavy caramel hair.
When she arrived, there was a porter and what sort of, her eyes turned bigger, her shoulders jumped up a little and she just looked at him but said nothing for a few moments. "I have a meeting with Mizutani." She would easily be able to enter the place when he opened the door. Strange looking, yet a gentleman, or well someone who was taking the right instructions and she smiled at him mostly with her eyes and she would turn her head back, moving with that same movement, her hair back over her left shoulder. She was the only one with a mask and she sighed, what was it with people and hiding themselves or not. Surely her make-up and everything made her still look different from her timid political life but well, here it was. She took off her mask. "Sorry about that, you can never be prepared and safe enough. Well here I am though, thank you for requesting a meeting." She was sure she did not have to say her name, Daffodil, the flowers on her mask might have been obvious before too.

... and a little less action? Wait. EVEN WITH THE MASK ON, Hikaru could tell that Daffodil was pretty. Fitted white dress that hugged her form in the most flattering of ways, a sharp contrast to her rich skintone and spill of dark brown hair. And that that mask, here-and-there adorned with floral patterns. This had to be Daffodil.
The mask, though—ugh, masks were the bane of his existence. Perhaps he could show her to a more private location, and request that she remove it? Or, if necessary, he could have Creature translate. Since Creature was predominantly nonverbal, he sometimes doubled as a translator due to his proficiency with JSL and ability to hear.
Thanks to the mask, he missed what she said to Creature—but when the mutant turned to Hikaru, just out of the woman’s range of vision, he echoed her sentiment with quick, efficient signs—she was here to see Hikaru.
“I am Mizutani,” Hikaru said with a grand bow, “Thank you for joining us, Daffodil-san.”
It was his father’s request to seek information regarding the whereabouts and current status of Kobayashi-gumi. Begrudging allies, as they were, the other gang had proven to be annoyingly tight-lipped. It made avoiding stepping-on one anothers’ toes immensely difficult.
And when the leader of said gang vanished off of the face of the earth, it was, sufficed to say, of concern to their cohabitants.
Hikaru relaxed slightly when the woman removed her mask—his suspicions that she was, in fact, beautiful were correct. So beautiful that it was almost unfair to other women. She enunciated rather well, so it was easy to read her lips as she voiced an apology.
“Fortune favors the cautious,” Hikaru agreed abstractly, “No offense taken. I’m just delighted that we were able to find you. Your work has garnered some notoriety. You’re reputable.”
This is, Hikaru reminded himself, a business venture.
“We will be retiring to somewhere more private, naturally. I will have my staff bring us drinks and confectionaries,” Hikaru offered, a mild hand fluttering over his sternum, “What beverages would please you, Daffodil-san?”
It was bad manners to invite someone as your guest and not offer them a drink, after all.
As he spoke, he paid close attention to the woman's thrilling face, predominantly her mouth. Thankfully, so long as you looked in the neighborhood of someone's nose, they couldn't tell what part of their face you were actually looking at. That is, when it came to the unobservant. Perhaps Daffodil was more shrewd than that, though?

Oh look at that, this man was rather charming, wasn't he? A smile appeared on her invisible lips and she actually thought she might like this moment. The fact that he was a pretty man to look at was something good. She should not feel stupid about it, it wasn't like she was seriously involved with someone else and besides watching was allowed. She brushed her long caramel coloured hair aside. She should really give up on the sleek trying to save her identity. This way she could still keep her name hidden but she could try and just show her face. After all, what was there to say about it, it was a face in a crowd of many. She had worked hard on her disguise and it wasn't only working thanks to a mask, so that was something. As no one was to be trusted, it was something that she would not give up so easily. But a mask was just a mask and she would slowly remove it and just turned her brown eyes to the man again.
She could not help but laugh a little when the man said the saying the other way around, "I agree with that, it is nice to meet someone who knows that as well." And someone who wasn't going to underestimate her, so many after all still did. "I hope I can be of service, I know a lot and else I might get that information soon." She would look around her as he said they would retreat to a more private location. This man was very interesting and she thought about the idea of what she could drink, should she after all? She wore a mask to make sure she wouldn't be poisoned but well she could also have the fortune favours the bold and she would. Considering how she came here and the way she should return, she ordered tonic water and would look at him. If she came with a taxi, she would have ordered a wine. What would a man like Mizutani prefer?
Though she had the idea he looked more at her lips then to her eyes when she was speaking, she first thought it was just a matter of looking at it. It was already better than how some other people especially men reacted. It was also more mature then flirty comments all the time, she appreciated a compliment here and there and such would warm her up to a nice conversation. She would take steps closer to Hikaru to see if he would bring her to this more private location that he spoke about before. It was fascinating to see how every individual was different and for the first time since the meeting she realized she wanted to learn more about people their story, what was it that turned them to the dark side of the business. Well, she would soon enough see how this conversation would go and what she would get out of it. Maybe protection, saver places, she would see.
