自由自在 to be free; completely unrestrained. Jack stared at his phone in utter surprise, his eye actually twitching a little bit. It wasn't really every day that something would actually make him want to bang his head against a wall, but today seemed to be one of those days. One would think 'oh hey, my friend is suggesting he doesn't really want to talk about something, best to just leave him be for a bit and let him talk about it when he's comfortable'. In the case of one Mr. Eli Bantis, however, that was by no means the case, apparently.
The blonde boy had made admittedly an on-the-nose joke at Jack's expense. Reasonably speaking, he was probably more referring to a dragon's actual horde, and not someone said dragon actually held dear to them, but after everything that had happened over the last few months, especially the last few weeks specifically...well, to put it plainly, Jack was still sore about everything. The Fuchu incident, Meara's kidnapping, the whole zombie fiasco, and then Jack's own kidnapping in that order...well, the only people he had really opened up to were Meara and Mia, but crying only did so much to ease the pain for a moment.
And, frankly, Eli was probably the LAST person he would want to talk about this to. The last time he made any sort of attempt to open up about his feelings, his admittedly moronic best friend decided it was a good idea to punch him in the face. Seriously, what was it with people thinking that punching somebody in the face was EVER a good idea, much less a fucking dragon with a temper? He swore, it was just idiotic in both cases.
He rubbed his face, groaning a little bit in annoyance. To be fair, nothing was forcing him to talk about it. If Eli tried to he'd probably just send him on his way. He thought he made it clear that he didn't want to talk about it, but apparently his friend was still as dense as he was when he left. The dragon boy sighed, his horns and chest gem turning into a bright orange color. Jesus...since Eli left, his body really had changed a lot... He partially wondered if Eli would hold it against him that he had technical diamonds coming out of him, since that was more his thing. Meh, not much of a time to worry about it.
The door would promptly be unlocked, and the moment Eli entered the room, he would be promptly met with the sight of a very annoyed looking dragon boy. His legs were crossed over the other, his arms were crossed, and even his tail thumped in an annoyed way. "Ok...but WHY though?" he asked flatly, mostly a response to Eli's declaration that he was coming to his room over text. "What gave you any indication that I even want to talk about what happened? It's not exactly many people's business." notes words tag someone

Eli sat on his phone with his usual banter, when he apparently offended Jack? He didn't mean to which was a rare occurrence but regardless it eventually led to Eli going to Jacks room and by the time he got there...he kind of forgot what he did. Well whatever the case he opened the door to an annoyed Jack, as per usual when the two of them met. Jack sat in his chair, legs and arms crossed, his tail thumping on the floor, and a very annoyed expression on his face. The site of the boy reminded Eli why he was here. As well as that, he was also met with some rather... harsh words, nothing he couldn't handle though.
Eli quickly found a chair, turned it to where the back faced the boy he was talking to, and sat down on it facing Jack. "You say it's not most people's business and well, you aren't wrong. However you say I'm your best friend, so clearly to you I'm not most people. Not to mention the fact that I never outright said you had to talk about that, I'm here so you can vent because you clearly need it. That being said, you don't have to vent about that shit specifically, I honestly don't care as long as you talk to someone about it, doesn't have to be me."
After this statement, it should've been clear to Jack that Eli wasn't even close to the same person he used to be. He had changed drastically, for better or worse remained to be seen. However he wasn't always an asshole just to be one now, he was just really blunt. "So, what's making you the most mad that you're comfortable with talking about to me, or just wherever you wanna start I guess?"

自由自在 to be free; completely unrestrained. Jack's eyes narrowed slightly as he studied Eli, watching his movements carefully. Really, watching his entire demeanor, if he was being honest. He did notice the difference in atmosphere compared to the last time. It wasn't as tense as the last time they had a sit down like this, though it was rather apparent that Jack was rather tense nonetheless. He watched for any sort of sudden movement from the other teen, on the off chance that he did try to attack him again.
Eli was quick to take a seat on the other chair that faced the couch where Jack was sitting. Jack got right to the point of it, asking him why he even remotely thought this was a good idea. Eli replied sternly, but not as sharply as he would have expected. The dragon boy raised an eyebrow at him, not making any immediate response as he would let him continue. He did say that he was one of his best friends, sure...be even then, Jack wasn't really the type of person nowadays to just spill his guts out at any given moment. The only other person he would even remotely feel comfortable sharing anything to was also still going through her own healing process, so it was hard to really 'vent', as Eli decided to put it.
Once Eli had finished, the color of Jack's gem-y bits darkened to a blood-red hue: both a show of anger and admittedly of bitter humor. He leaned forward, his hands clasped, but a bit of an almost evil smirk on his face, though his eyes showed a deep pain and rage, making it clear that he wasn't in a great mood. He mostly only showed these emotions so that Eli would at the least be prepared for whatever sort of anger the dragon boy was about to show.
"You ask me this, yet as I recall, the last time we had a 'heart to heart' like this you decided it was a good idea to punch me in the face. I don't even think I reacted all that badly, if I remember correctly. How do I know you're not just going to do that again? I've had...enough of a lot of bullshit lately, so do forgive me if I'm not exactly entirely keen on spilling everything out the gate," he said flatly, going quiet for a moment as he would sit back, watching Eli carefully. After a moment, he would seemingly calm down, tilting his head up and blowing up a large puff of steam, though the color remained in his gems.
"I mean, where would I even start? Should I start with the fact that we're still being cooped up on campus while that bitch Ishtar still does as she pleases? I don't exactly enjoy living in 'fear' of that...person." he stopped himself briefly, like he wanted to say more. However, the memories of all that had transpired during his own kidnapping still shook the dragon to his core, even making his horns and gem turn yellow in fear for a split second before going red again. He let out another deep sigh, closing his eyes briefly. Whatever Eli did with that information was up to him, he supposed. He just hoped that he was wise enough not to push any buttons. notes words tag someone

Eli watched as Jack processed everything he had to say. At certain parts his eyes would narrow or his tail would move, Eli could tell while he himself was relaxed, Jack wasn't. It started to get him thinking, what all was included in being a hero? Was it enough to just save someone from danger? Did they deserve compensation? He shook the thoughts off for a later time, this was more important.
Eli hated to admit it, but Jack was right in a sense. Yes he deserved the punch Eli had given him last time. Did he deserve Eli's constant harshness? Not as much. In the same sense though it wasn't like Eli wanted to do what he did, at the time though, Jack needed it. That's what friends are for though right? Setting you straight even when you don't realize that you're wrong. Hell, Eli wasn't even necessarily here to hear Jack vent...just to get him to talk to someone. Eli of all people knew how bad it was to hold your emotions in. Hopefully, Jack had found someone he could vent to by now, be it Eli or whoever else.
As Eli's final words left his mouth, Jack began to...was he glowing? Well that's new. Hell Eli hadn't even noticed that Jack had some sort of gem. It began to grow a color similar to crimson, did it go by Jacks emotions? A question for another time...focus on what's happening now. Jack leaned forward, with his hands joined together, and a smirk creeping onto his mouth. His eyes sang a song of anger, so of course he wasn't in the best of moods. Lovely. Eli began to prepare for the worst, which with how he thought of Jack, wasn't that much.
Eli let Jack have his time to speak, for once listening pretty thoroughly. He was correct, mostly anyways, but that was kind of expected at this point. They'd both been through their fair share of hell, and there was probably only more to come. When he mentioned Ishtar...Eli's spine got a bit of an unwelcome chill. Finally, it seemed like Jack was done, so Eli spoke in response, "Look, I'm not gonna say how much or little you deserved that punch. It won't get either of us anywhere. As far as bullshit goes? I'm pretty sure everyone is fed up with that at this point. We've all been through our own personal hells, excluding some of the first years, and they'll probably have similar shit to go through. I also never said you had to spill everything out, that's probably the worst way to do it in all honesty. Then we would both be confused as hell and again, it wouldn't get us anywhere. I'm also gonna reiterate again that you don't have to vent to me specifically. Just someone." He paused for a few moments, watching Jack's gems turn yellow briefly, barely noticing.
"As far as where to start, and that deluded criminal Ishtar, they'll be brought to justice along with anyone else that's helping them. As future heroes we have to believe in our system of justice, if we don't then who will? That being said it doesn't mean there shouldn't be some changes made. Regardless, no one likes to live in fear. And honestly...I don't consider Ishtar a person, not after what they've done." Eli said with a bitter harshness that Jack hadn't heard before, he despised Ishtar with every fiber of his being. There was no possibility of that thing being human anymore in Eli's eyes. Not after everything it had put him and his friends through.

自由自在 to be free; completely unrestrained. Jack's eyes opened and narrowed again as Eli would start off by saying that he wasn't going to say how much or how little he deserved the punch back then, as it wouldn't get them anywhere. While Jack couldn't help but agree with him, a small piece of him still wanted to get him back for what he felt was a little over-reacting to something. Maybe someday they'll duke it out and he can have a good shot in there, but that was neither here nor now. Admittedly, there was much more important things to worry about.
The blonde boy would continue, stating that everyone was either going through their own hells, or were going to go through them as time went on. The dragon boy's features actually turned into a bit of a snarl for a moment. He wanted to snap at Eli for a moment, wanting to scream at the top of his lungs that not much of what he and Meara had gone through for the last few months compared to what all of the current student body went through, save some people who actually went through a kidnapping themselves. Even then, adding on top to the prison riots and month and a half of Meara dealing with drug withdrawals. And that was all only in the span of a couple of months.
However, Jack held his tongue, and his face regained it's calm-ish demeanor. Eli would continue on, saying that he just wanted Jack to vent to anyone, that it didn't have to be him. The dragon boy pursed his lips, taking in that and the rest of what Eli said as he would hang his head downwards for a moment. Did he really trust to tell anyone else at this point? The entire DC probably knew now, and he's been to Mosa more than enough times. He didn't really just trust anyone that he could just scream and break down to, aside from Meara, who was still going through grief herself...
And, admittedly, the person right in front of him.
He took a deep breath, breathing heavy stream from his mouth, bellowing it across the floor. If Jack's horns could glow any brighter, they'd probably be a relatively good light source on their own at this point. The dragon boy shook his head lightly, looking back up at Eli. His eyes still clearly had a fiery anger in them, but the look on his face was nothing short of downright in pain.
"No, she's not," he said finally, in response to Eli's earlier comment on Ishtar not being human. "She's a villain that's arguably a million times worse than even Thunder. She takes what she wants the moment an opportunity arises, and her glare...it's honestly something I still have nightmares about. Night, after night, after night..." he said, his tone going from sorrow to a deep anger as he spoke. His breath became heavier, and he had to take a second to recompose just from that sudden reveal alone.
He suddenly stood up, and started pacing around the room, his gems now a bright golden hue, his tail going wild as it swished to and fro at a rapid pace. "She has...hundreds of these brainwashed followers...I couldn't find even a remote spot to look away without another one of those...those freaks staring holes into me..." he said. He would look at Eli, a deep fear in his eyes. "And that's not even HALF of it."
With that, he would go back to pacing around the room, clearly panicking more and more by the moment. He didn't like having to have all of these memories come out, but he knew that it needed to. If it would even help then. notes words tag someone

Jack opened his eyes as Eli began to speak, and seemed to agree since he dropped the subject. Eventually they'd talk about it but now wasn't the time. Regardless, the two moved on from the topic. Jack seemed to snarl at Eli's opinion which was to be expected, but Eli expected as much. He had noticeably gone through a lot, and Eli wasn't trying to act like he hadn't, but everyone, including Eli himself had their own share of issues at this point. Eli had the note from his mom that he still had to deal with, I mean who would've guessed his dad was one of the worst villains to exist? The blonde hair didn't give it away that's for sure.
Jack seemed to regain his composure an Eli continued his statements. He lowered his head for a moment, almost going unnoticed by the diamond creator. Eli knew he'd been to Mosa countless times, and that he was definitely having a rough time. This was one of the only ways Eli knew how to help. So he would listen, once he was done with his statements himself, to what Jack had to say. As Eli finished Jack looked back up at the boy, his horns glowing even brighter than before, blowing steam out of his mouth. His eyes and expression showed how angry he was. Touchy topic, got it. He shook his head as Eli waited for the boy to start his comment.
He agreed that Ishtar was not viewed as human in his eyes, understandable given the circumstances in all honesty. She had caused so much pain and grief, but she would be taken down just like...his dad. Which Eli would argue was far worse than Ishtar herself but again, not important. He was right though, she did whatever she wanted, causing chaos, with her followers constantly. Definitely caused some nightmares for most people. Jack then took a moment to recompose himself. Eli took that opportunity to have a reveal of his own, "Yea, I would argue Thunder's worse given...certain things that I'll get to in a moment. Regardless, she's a horrible being that exists but I've been in enough trouble as far as vigilantism already. Granted pretty soon we're gonna be graduating so if she's still around then, I'll try to do something about it. As far as me, I don't know whether it's completely true or not but apparently I'm Thunder's child, and I'm thinking of seeing the bastard to tell him. Not that I owe him anything but, I feel like he at least has some right to know. Plus what harm can he do while he's locked up?"
Jack then began to pace around the room, his copy like gems glowing golden in color. His tail as well began to have a mind of its own as it swayed back and forth quickly. Mentioning the villain's goons once again, Eli listened but since he had already gave his opinion on that part, he didn't add anything to that part of the discussion. Once Jack had finished, Eli spoke once more, "Look man, it's understandable to be scared. Trust me when I say I've had my fair share of that. But part of being a hero is overcoming that fear. It may seem hard, even hopeless, but you have amazing friends that you can lean on. That's more than I could have said for a long time. Now look at us, we've both came an extremely long way from our first year here. Now we're about to be sidekicks and then heroes. Who would've thought."
